Jamie Lawrence - Chapter Twenty Seven
"I can't believe I have to miss the wedding!" wailed Kyle. "Weddings are so cool! Everybody gets all dressed up and fawn over one beautiful couple. Everyone dances. Everyone's happy."
"Mmm?" grunted Darren, dragging his heavy eyelids open.
"Honey. You have to go home and catch some z's," said Kyle, running the back of his fingers against Darren's cheek.
"No!" he said, fully opening his eyes and trying to look convincingly awake.
Kyle smiled at his silly boyfriend. "Fine. Hop in." He lifted the side of his hospital blanket to permit Darren entrance. As before, Darren was reluctant, but did what Kyle asked, kicking off his trainers and sliding in to cuddle up to Kyle.
Kyle grabbed the book his mother had brought him and started to read aloud for Darren's benefit. It was a ponderous tome all about romance in the nineteenth century; Kyle's favourite era. He read a single passage before he looked up at Darren's face.
Darren was sleeping, his lips turned up at the sides, hinting that a smile had been there before he had drifted off. Kyle touched his lips to the side of Darren's face, clicked his handset to release a new rush of painkillers, and rolled onto his left side to spoon back against Darren.
The bandaged wound was constantly itchy and on the brink of driving him mad, but he was a nurse and knew not to scratch. The throbbing down his right side was a little harder to handle, but he linked his fingers with Darren's and that stopped him from rubbing at it and making it worse.
It was there, wrapped up in Darren's arms, feeling safe and loved that Kyle drifted into a comfortable sleep.
"So why aren't you at Jamie's?" asked Callum, flicking his mobile phone into the air and catching it again.
"He's spending the afternoon with his Dad, but he's going to sleep here tonight." Shane chuckled. "I really want to see my Dad's face when we tell him that."
Callum smiled. "I take it you'd like me out of the way tonight then?"
"Nah, you don't have to worry about that. We don't have to have sex EVERY time we see each other."
"Doesn't matter anyways. Darius called. We're repainting his bedroom today and if I want, I can stay."
"And let me guess. You want?"
Callum giggled. "I re-eally want."
Shane looked at Callum seriously. "Have you two...?"
Callum paused, mystified. Then it dawned on him what Shane meant. "Oh! No." He giggled. "I'm not ready for that yet."
Shane smiled mischievously and handsomely. "So what HAVE you two done?" He patted the bed beside him and Callum plonked himself down.
"Well, we've kissed."
Shane rolled his eyes. "Yeah, I saw that bit. Anything else?"
Callum could feel his cheeks starting to burn. "Well, he started to, you know..." He made a wanking motion with his right hand without meeting Shane's eye.
"Why only 'started'?"
"His brother interrupted us."
"Ooh, ouch!" chuckled Shane. "That's embarrassing."
"I don't think he saw anything." Callum chucked his phone into the air again, but Shane was the one who caught it.
"Anything else?"
"Well, we, um..." He giggled. "I can't talk about this," he said. His cheeks had to be glowing by now.
"Why not? We're both boys who're into boys. I'll bet that me and Jamie have done whatever it is you two have done."
"Okay. We sort of, like, rubbed against each other."
"Rubbed? Oh! You mean frottage. Yeah, me and Jamie have done that. So is that all?"
"So far."
"I must admit, your boyfriend's a little hottie."
"Don't get any ideas, Shane. He doesn't go for the uglies."
"You little shit!" exclaimed Shane, grabbing Callum in a headlock and messing with his hair.
Giggling wildly, Callum resisted and soon the pair were wrestling for supremacy on the bed. Callum exerted every ounce of strength he had, but Shane's superior size and generally higher fitness level meant that within seconds, Shane had pinned him.
"Ha! You're a weakling." Shane rolled off Callum and lay down on the bed. Callum rested his head on Shane's chest and Shane wrapped him up in his arms. "You okay, kiddo?" he asked.
"Yeah. I'm fine. I was just thinking. Everything's changed for me, like, really quick."
"Same here. Three months ago, I was pretending to be straight, petrified of what my Dad'd say if he found out what I really was. And you were scared of everything."
Callum giggled. "Not everything. Just most things."
"And now you're going to go and help your boyfriend paint his bedroom and then get some nookie."
"Shane!"
Shane chuckled. "Sorry." He sighed. "Have I told you how proud of you I am?"
"Really?"
"Yeah. You're a pretty great kid."
"Pretty great?" Callum pressed.
"Okay. You're awesome."
Callum giggled once more. "Thanks, Shane. You're pretty great too." Callum leaned up and gave Shane a quick peck on the lips before returning his head to Shane's chest.
Darius and Callum were an efficient pair and managed to turn the four walls in Darius's bedroom from shocking pink to aquatic blue in a matter of an hour. They would have to wait for the first coat to dry before they could finish the job, but all in all, it was a proud pair who slumped onto Darius's bed to rest their weary bones.
As the two cuddled up together, Darius took one look at Callum's face and burst out laughing. "You look like a smurf."
Callum frowned. "Did I get some on me?"
Darius handed him a small mirror. "Just a bit."
Callum studied his reflection and had to agree with Darius's comparison. His entire forehead was blue, along with several liberal smears down his cheeks. Confused, Callum looked at his arm and realised what had happened. A large dollop of paint had made its way onto his arm and he must have used that arm to sweep hair out of his eyes.
"Damn," he said flatly.
"Don't worry; it's water-based. You can have a shower before dinner. I was gonna have one too."
Callum leaned into Darius's face with a mischievous grin on his own. "We could always save water and shower together."
"We could, except I doubt either of us would actually get clean."
"We would!" objected Callum. "We'd just have more fun doing it."
"As awesome as that sounds, I'm still gonna say no. My Mum might figure us out; plus, Graham is home, and you know what he's like. Bright side!" he said happily. "Mum finally let me have a lock on my door to stop 'dick-head' coming in!"
"Congrats." Callum gave Darius a quick kiss. "Well, go get showered, and I'll go after you."
"'kay." Another quick smooch and Darius jumped off the bed, shucked his shirt, briefly revealing his supple body, and headed off to the bathroom leaving Callum alone.
Darius returned after only a few minutes, dripping water all over the carpet and towelling his hair. Not wanting to get distracted, Callum hurried off to the bathroom. In an attempt to catch Darius before he had a chance to get dressed, Callum hurried like he'd never hurried before and was back in the bedroom in record time.
He was happy to see that Darius hadn't even put his underwear on yet. Callum locked the bedroom door, let his towel fall off his waist and pressed Darius back onto his bed to lie on top of him, his tongue seeking refuge within the gentle warmth of Darius's mouth.
Having already been plumped up since getting out of the shower, it didn't take long for Callum to grow to full mast and he was very happy when he felt an identical response stirring beneath Darius's towel.
Darius broke the kiss and, breathing heavily, said "Hey, I wanna try something. Lie on your front."
Callum's heart jolted inside his chest. "Darius, I'm not ready for that yet."
"Ready for what?" he asked, looking utterly perplexed. "Oh! No, I don't wanna do that to you. At least, not for a while yet."
"Oh," breathed Callum, a shy smile on his face. "Okay." As he went to lie down, Darius slid his towel off and deposited it over the bed where Callum was about to lie.
He lay down on his front on the bed, still wondering what Darius was planning for him. Darius started by softly running his hands over Callum's developing frame, but before long, he started dotting Callum's shoulders with kisses.
"Mmm, that's nice," said Callum, fully enjoying Darius's soft, warm lips. His dick was pulsing gently against his stomach and Darius's hands were making his skin quiver wherever they went.
Callum was unconsciously grinding his hips into the bed each time Darius's lips sent a pulse of pleasure through his chest. Darius's tongue started to slowly work its way down Callum's spine and his hands tenderly cupped the globes of Callum's bottom.
He experienced a brief moment of concern when Darius separated the two cheeks but that concern was quickly abandoned when he felt Darius's tongue flicker quickly against his freshly cleaned opening. He curled his toes and buried his face in the pillow. "Ah! Oh, wow!" he mumbled into the cotton.
He heard Darius laugh quietly behind him before his tongue returned to its work, sending powerful waves of delight through Callum's tensing body. Callum could feel his blood starting to pound as Darius's tongue snaked its way across the countless nerves gathered around his rosebud.
"Doesn't that -ah- taste bad?" asked Callum, his breathing heavy.
"Just tastes like soap. It's a squeaky clean bottom." Darius playfully slapped Callum's left cheek.
Callum started to giggle but it caught in his throat when Darius thrust his tongue hard into his behind. Callum stuffed his face deep into the pillow to muffle the moans and grunts he could not stop escaping his lips. He was fast losing control of his legs as they strained and his hips continued to gyrate into the soft towel beneath him.
The warm muscle pressed into Callum's anus and Darius's hand sought out his perineum and stroked it tenderly. Callum was almost purring with delight.
"Dah-Darius, I'm gonna- ahh- I'm cumming," gasped Callum, his mind fully enveloped in the feel of Darius's tongue and hands. "I'm- I'm- gah!"
And it happened. Callum fists clenched and every muscle in his stomach and back tensed. His rosebud quivered under Darius's tongue and he let out several minute cries as he deposited four globs of his seed onto the towel.
He felt like he had pins and needles all over his body. The fire in his veins surged through every part of him as Darius lovingly kissed his way up Callum's back, one of his hands still cupping his balls.
"Did you enjoy that?" asked Darius, lying on top of Callum, his solid cock pressing between Callum's still quivering cheeks. Callum nodded weakly, his veins still ablaze. Darius let out a whisper of a laugh and kissed Callum's earlobe. "Best get dressed for dinner."
"Don't you want me to...?" Callum started, but Darius cut across him.
"Not right now." Darius proceeded to throw on some loose sporting clothes, giving his cock a few taps to encourage it to go down, before he dragged Callum bodily from the bed. "Come on. You can fall asleep later."
Callum got dressed, albeit clumsily, and allowed Darius to lead him down the stairs and out into the back yard. The Clarkes were making use of what was likely to be the last good weather of the year and having a barbecue. Mr Clarke, a genial man of fifty-two, was moving chicken breasts, burgers, and sausages around the grill while his wife diced various vegetables.
As soon as the cold air hit him, Callum came back to himself, fully recovering his wits as the euphoria finally lowered to a discreet level. He complimented the smell coming from the grill and offered to help Mrs Clarke cut the lettuce, which of course she refused. "You're our guest, dear. Would you like a drink?" Callum nodded. "What would you like?" Callum shrugged.
"Darius, get the lad a beer," said Mr Clarke. "And yourself. And while you're at it, one for me."
"I don't know," said Callum. "Maybe I should ask my Mum if it's okay." He and his mother had been so much closer recently that he didn't want to wreck it all for drinking without consent.
"Don't worry, darling," said Mrs Clarke. "We've got Cola." Callum smiled and nodded, relieved. He had never tasted alcohol before and was eager to try, but he had to do it properly. Shane had told him that.
"Callum!" screamed Alicia as she came bounding over from the trampoline. "Come jump with me!" She giggled girlishly and Darius leaned into Callum's ear.
"She's got a crush on you," he whispered. "Hasn't stopped talking about you since you were last here."
Callum giggled almost as girlishly as Alicia had and took her hand. "Well, far be it from me to let a lady down." Alicia led him off to the trampoline and they spent fifteen minutes bouncing around happily while the rest of the Clarkes, minus Graham, chatted, cooked and chopped.
When finally the pair were called for dinner, Callum immediately clung to Darius's side, wanting to feel the warmth of his body while the memory of their bedroom activity was still seared into his mind.
"How can you eat so much?!" giggled Callum incredulously as he watched Darius pound his fifth burger.
"Just lucky. Normally I only eat low fat stuff, but you've gotta have a treat now and then." He downed half a bottle of lager in one go and released a loud belch. "Sure you don't want one of these?" he asked, shaking the nearly empty bottle in front of Callum's eyes.
"I don't know. I don't want to get in trouble."
Darius snorted. "Your Mum won't find out. Just have one if you're worried. My parents are here so you can't do anything stupid like stealing a car."
Callum smiled nervously. "Okay. Just one."
"Atta boy!" barked Mr Clarke from the doorway. Callum blushed. He had hoped to do it without any adults knowing. "Don't worry, lad. One won't kill you."
Darius returned a few moments later carrying three bottles, the fingers of one hand looped around the neck of each. "Why would your parents want me to drink without my Mum's permission?" asked Callum as he put the lip of the bottle to his mouth.
"Oh." Darius smiled. "You do have your Mum's permission. Dad asked her when she dropped you off before. He just wanted to see what it would take to get you to misbehave."
Callum gulped audibly and almost choked on his beer. "Seriously?" he demanded, suddenly scared that he'd done something wrong.
"Don't panic. You passed." Darius pulled Callum into his chest and kissed the top of his head. "He just wanted to know that you would feel guilty about doing something as insignificant as drinking a single, solitary beer."
As the night progressed, that single, solitary beer turned into three and at about nine o'clock, Callum was feeling a little giddy and he was having a hard time keeping his hands off Darius. It seemed Darius was having a similar problem with Callum, having had five bottles himself.
"Eww!" screeched Alicia from the kitchen doorway when she came in to go to bed and found the two boys kissing. Callum was sitting on the worktop and Darius was standing between his legs, leaning in to Callum's lips. "That's yucky!" she squealed.
Darius turned, breaking the kiss, and glanced at his little sister. "You're yucky!" he retorted, sticking his tongue out at her. She toddled off after casting a reproachful look at her brother. Darius chuckled. "Maybe we should take this upstairs before anyone else starts thinking we're 'yucky'." He leaned in and swept his tongue across Callum's top lip.
Callum tried to look shocked and appalled. "What kind of boy do you think I am?" he demanded mockingly. "Think you can get me drunk and I'll put out, eh?"
Darius chuckled again, his sweet breath exploding across Callum's face. "No. But I know a hard-on when I see one," he whispered. He pressed his hand against Callum's groin and squeezed.
Callum groaned into Darius's mouth, a sultry smile playing across his lips. "Okay. You've got me there." Callum jumped down from the counter and rearranged his tent. The pair popped their heads out into the garden to wish the remaining Clarkes a good night before Darius chased Callum up the stairs.
They were hardly through the door before Darius had his hands down the back of Callum's pants, cupping his small, firm cheeks. Callum was able to focus long enough to click the lock on the door before he found himself being thrown down onto the bed.
Darius's tongue quickly found Callum's neck and Callum's already hard dick started screaming for attention. Summoning all the strength he had, Callum managed to flip Darius onto his back and straddled his pelvis, feeling his throbbing erection press into his arse.
Darius smiled lustfully. "I think you're so hot," he said, running his hands up the back of Callum's shirt.
"Yeah, and I think you're drunk," said Callum, leaning down to kiss Darius.
"No," said Darius, breaking the kiss. "You're really gorgeous." He was slurring slightly, but the look in his eye caught Callum short. "You're so awesome."
Callum had been doing well in following Jamie's advice to pretend to be more confident than he was, but the truth was that he still felt like a shy, unpopular, friendless little boy. Darius was very good at dispelling that notion. Sometimes when Callum looked at him, he thought he could could see something just behind his eyes, something just for him. Something like love.
"I'm still not putting out," said Callum jokingly.
Darius slid his hands up Callum's back before he lifted his shirt over his head. "Then I'll just have to feel you up."
"Mmm," moaned Callum as Darius pressed his fingertips into the muscles of his back. He gyrated against Darius's pelvis and Darius moaned in return. "Let's get these sweats off you," said Callum, his hands fiddling with the string at Darius's waist. "I want to see what you've got for me in there."
As quick as a flash, both boys were naked and started licking, nibbling and sucking every inch of each other until Callum forced Darius to lie back on the bed.
He kissed down Darius's perfect chest, pausing long enough to nibble a nipple, then to dip his tongue into Darius's navel. He seized Darius's hard dick in his right hand while he continue to kiss and lick down to his silky smooth balls.
Normally, Darius resisted any attempt Callum made to engage him in oral sex, but tonight, clearly the mood had taken him. Callum could hear him breathing heavily and see his fists clenching and unclenching in an unconscious gesture of pent-up energy.
Callum released Darius's balls from his lips and started to kiss his way up the shaft of his pulsating shaft. When he reached the head, he spent a few moments simply swilling his tongue around the corona and watching Darius twitching as he did.
Callum opened his mouth a little wider and lowered his head a couple of inches. Darius's breath stalled for a moment and then returned to normal with a groan. Callum lowered himself a little more and Darius gasped. "Teeth!" he grunted.
Callum tried to apologise but couldn't speak with his mouth full so he settled for covering his teeth with his lips and then gyrating his tongue against the underside of Darius's cock.
With his right hand, Callum continued to squeeze and rub the shaft while the fingers of his left hand slid between then cheeks of his bottom where he started to gentle play with the sensitive skin there.
"Cal, I'm gonna blow if you don't stop," said Darius, his head pressed back into the pillow and his voice strained. Callum rolled his eyes thinking 'That's kinda the point.'
And then he blew.
Callum pressed the head of Darius's cock to the back of his throat, concentrating most of his energy on controlling the urge to gag. The moment he did, Darius's left leg jerked next to Callum's head and he felt his throat being lined with warm, creamy cum.
He instinctively swallowed the whole offering, carefully milking the shaft to obtain every last drop.
"Get up here," said Darius, smiling wide. Callum crawled up the bed like a prowling tiger and came to rest lying fully upon Darius's body. The pair kissed furiously for a few moments before Darius rolled Callum onto his back. "Share and share alike," he said, before sliding down to Callum's dripping cock.
"You can't just turn up at the farm and expect Tom to be happy to see you. The last time he saw you, you were kicking his face in."
"I don't need reminding of that, Diane," said Gerry, throwing his keys back into the bowl. "But I guess you're right. Still, how do I go about this? He's not going to forgive me easily."
"Maybe you should consider writing to him. Put in the letter that you're sorry and that you want to see him again, but make it plain that it's on HIS terms. He chooses when, where and how long."
"Do you think that'll be enough?"
"It's all you've got, honey."
With that, Diane left Gerry alone in his study. He pulled out two pieces of paper and started with a simple 'Dear Tommy'. He considered going with the cliched 'hardest letter I've ever had to write' idea, but discarded it quickly, knowing that it was a redundant statement.
He made notes of the various things he wanted Tommy to know; That he was sorry. What he now knew about Shane, and how that had forced him to change himself. Most importantly, that he missed Tommy. When he had a basic idea of what he wanted to say, he began.
Dear Tommy,
I know that I am probably the last person you ever expected,
or even wanted to hear from. I just wanted you to know that I'm sorry.
You don't have to forgive me, or even acknowledge this letter. I just
needed you to know.
If you can find it in your heart to forgive a fool like me, I
would like to meet up. I'd love for you to see Shane again; I know he
misses you as much as I do, and I'm sure he'd love for you to meet his
boyfriend.
I'll understand if you don't want to respond.
Gerry.
It felt a little pathetic, considering that it was three years too late, but it was the best he could do. He hoped that the subtle hint at Shane's sexuality would be enough of an enticement for Tommy to reply. He sealed it up in an envelope and addressed it to the Carter Farm. It was Saturday night, so the post wouldn't even be collected until Monday morning. Gerry had an agonising wait on his hands.
"You look nice," said Jamie from the doorway of his mother's bedroom.
Beth had been sitting in front of her mirror for nearly an hour and had just finished curling her dark, silky hair. "Thank you, darling."
"Are you going out?" Jamie pressed.
Beth smiled coquettishly. "I've got a date."
"Oooh. Is he cute?" asked Jamie, chucking himself onto his mother's bed, just behind her.
Beth laughed. "D'you know, when I gave birth to a little boy, I never thought I would be having these kinds of conversations. You're a treasure, Jamie."
"I know," said Jamie without a trace of modesty. "Now, why are you dodging the question?"
"I'm not dodging." Beth swept eye shadow over both of her eyes and fluttered her eyelashes at her reflection. "He's a very attractive man."
"Better than Dad?" asked Jamie.
Beth stalled in the act of putting on her eye-liner and spun around to face her son. "Why ask me that, Jamie?"
"Don't go all 'psychologist' on me, Mum. I just want to know if he's cuter than Dad."
Beth sighed. "Sweetheart, your Dad will always hold a special place in my heart. He gave me you, and I shared a lot of happy years with him, but that part of our lives is done now."
Jamie looked at is hands and started to play with the edge of one of his fingernails. "I know that. I guess I just..." He stopped.
Beth moved to sit next to her little boy. "You just though that because your Dad was getting help, maybe one day he and I would get back together?"
Jamie nodded slowly.
"For a long time, I thought the same. I never stopped loving him, but after a time, it stopped being romantic love. One day I looked at him and," she sighed, searching for the best way to phrase her next thought. "I could see past the hurt to the man who had given me a beautiful son. I could see-" She smiled. "My best friend. And now that he's getting well again, that's only gotten stronger. Do you understand darling?"
Again, Jamie nodded, though Beth could see the sadness in his eyes.
"This date doesn't mean he, and you, aren't important to me."
"It just means you want some k-i-s-s-i-n-g," said Jamie, a half hearted giggle in his voice.
"Well, I've got you for that, haven't I?" said Beth, putting her finger to her lips and waiting for Jamie to give her his traditional peck. "I love you, little man," she said, wrapping her arms around him.
"Love you too, Mum." He still sounded a little sad, but Beth knew he just needed some time to digest what she had said.
Four hours later, Beth was standing on her doorstep feeling like a teenage girl again. She silently berated herself for her heart beating like the wings of a hummingbird. She was a psychologist and felt that she should have had better control over her emotions. Apparently that was a fallacy.
Gavin Barker had been a perfect gentleman all night and they had whiled away more than an hour at the bar alone. When they had finally been called for their table, Beth was feeling a little tipsy and had switched to water during the meal. Gavin had chuckled a little at that, but hadn't questioned it.
They talked for a long time about work. He was wide eyed about the work he did with those suffering with degenerative diseases in orthodpaedics and talked animatedly with barely a pause for breath. Beth was equally spirited in talking about her own work and spoke of how she would like to work more closely with LGBT teens.
That sparked the inevitable question about the origins of that desire, and Beth was happy when her explanation that her son was gay was met with a simple "Oh." The conversation moved on quickly.
At the end of the evening, Beth had reached into her handbag to retrieve her purse and saw the disapproving look on Gavin's face. "What kind of man would I be if I let you pay for our first date?" he asked.
"Sorry," said Beth. "It's been a long time since I've dated."
When the taxi pulled up outside Beth's house, Gavin asked the driver to wait while he walked Beth to her door. "I'm a little old fashioned," explained Gavin.
"That's okay. I'm a little old," joked Beth.
Gavin smiled in that way that only Doctors can manage. "You don't believe that any more than I do."
"True," said Beth. She flicked her hair over her shoulder. "I'm fabulous."
The two laughed. After a few moments, Gavin's face turned a little more serious. "I won't ask if I can come in. I know your ex-husband is in there."
Beth simply nodded.
"I don't know if I could have lived with my ex-wife. She drives me crazy now, and she lives forty miles away."
"We do alright," said Beth. Desperate for a change of topic, she moved one inch closer to Gavin. He seemed to take the hint.
He leaned fully into her. The warmth of his body against hers was a feeling she had almost forgotten, and when his lips touched hers, she felt her body automatically moulding itself to his. Ever the gentleman, his hands sought out her hips and rested there lightly rather than sliding themselves all over the place.
Somewhat relunctantly, the pair parted. The thrum of Beth's heart told her that she really had enjoyed that kiss. They said good night with the usual promise that Gavin would call her. He disappeared in the taxi and Beth walked into her home.
"Did you have fun?" shouted Johnny from the kitchen.
"Definitely," she responded in little more than a whisper.
