Jason and Shaun
Chapter 12
We've had our dinner and now Jason and I are just laying down on our bed. It's been a pretty emotional day so far, and I hope that it doesn't get any worse. Jason takes my hand in his.
"Do you think your mom will interfere with Joshua's plans?"
I thought about it for a minute and then looked at him:
"I think, she already has. She's been nagging him for weeks about this whole mess. Come on, she sort of forced him to come out here."
I'm kind of scared that things will explode all over the place. Can't just get over the feeling that, something is going to happen. I certainly hope that things aren't as bad as they seem. Jason seemed to pick up on my tension. He started to rub my shoulders.
"Are you stressing over this whole situation?"
"You know how sometimes, you get that little voice in your head that just won't shut up? Well, I have this feeling that won't go away that, Joshua is going to out me."
Jason stopped his massage and sat down facing me.
"Shaun don't worry about it."
I leaned in for a kiss and Jason accepted my advances.
"Oh crap, I forgot to check the litter pan."
Jason got up went to check the cat's litter pan. Think I'll take a little nap!
I felt a hand resting on my shoulder and a voice saying my name, but I resisted the urge to wake up. Whoever was in my room is now shaking me as I sleep. Guess, I need to get up. It was Joshua and he had this look that just said, "I'm so sorry, don't be angry!"
"Mom's on the phone!"
Very softly, I said:
"Oh great, here comes another headache!"
"Hello Mom!"
"Where do you get off calling Dad and making decisions that have nothing to do you?"
"First off, I didn't call Dad, he called me. Second, I'm Joshua's brother and right now he is at my house, so guess what? It is my problem now."
"Well, you're father should have called me first so that I could have my say over Joshua marrying that, that, whore."
"She has a name, Mom and it's not whore, it's Erin. I think you need to get rid of whatever is bothering you because you're pushing Joshua away."
"Well, you can tell that ungrateful brother that your father has contacted Erin's parents and they gave the okay for her to marry Joshua, so I guess he'll be getting married."
"Mom, I am dying right now from a very, very bad headache. I need to get some aspirin and lay down."
Joshua needs to hear this, and I'm guessing that he'll be super excited.
Joshua was hanging out in the guest bedroom when I came out of my room. I ducked into this room and walked right up to him.
"What's up?" he said, looking up at me with a puzzled face.
I had a huge smile on my face, and why shouldn't I? It's not every day that my brother gets married to a young lady with one child and another child on the way. I reached out and put my hands on his shoulder.
"Don't get up because, I have the most awesome news ever!"
"Ouch... dude lay off the shoulders. So what is the big news? Are you and Jason going to have a baby too?"
"Heck no, but you got permission to marry Erin."
"NO WAY, I was just telling Jason that I hoped Dad would let me marry her."
He ran out of the room and went right up to Jason.
"You won't believe this! My dad is letting me marry Erin! This is like the best news that I've had in a long time. Now, I can be there for my child."
"Hey bud, I'm happy for you."
Joshua went back into his room and called Erin. He actually got up and closed the door.
For some reason, the headache made me tired. Then again, it was 8:30 about the time that we get ready for bed. Joshua came out of the bedroom and within minute, the phone rang.
"Hello, Joshua here!"
"Yeah... hold on Dad, Shaun is in his room."
There was a slight pause as Joshua walked out of his room and into my room. He handed me the phone as he said:
"Dad's on the phone!"
"Hey Dad, what's up?"
"Do me a favor. Stay with your brother until he gets his tickets, okay?"
"Sure, I can do that."
"He'll load on TransWest Airlines, gate A. Does he have any id?"
"Hold on a sec."
"JOSH!"
It didn't take him long to get back into the room.
"What do you want?"
"Did you bring your id with you?"
His look said "of course, I did!" He reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet. From a pocket in his wallet he pulled out his state id.
"Yeah, he has his state id."
"He'll need it to get his ticket. Oh... he needs to be the on 8:30 am flight to Utah. Got it?"
"Got it, Dad! I'll make sure to set our alarm clocks for 5:00 am. We live close to the airport so that should give us time to get some food in him and off to the airport."
"Just make sure he is on that plane, I love you, Son."
"Love you too, Dad!"
It feels so good to hear him say that. Will he be saying that when he finds out about me? Hope so! Better set the alarm clock. I also need to make sure that Jason and Joshua know to go to bed early.
"JOSHUA, JASON, BEDROOM NOW!"
In about 2 minutes or so both guys were standing in the bedroom, waiting to find out why I called them.
"Dad called, Joshua's flight is the 8:30 am flight to back to Utah. I figure if we're up by 5:00 am we should be okay. So I suggest that we all go to bed!"
They didn't say anything. Jason took off his shirt and you could see Joshua's eyes grow wide.
"Dang bro, you are built!"
"Thanks!"
Joshua left the room and I heard the guest room close. Jason and I stripped down to nothing and curled up underneath our blanket. We didn't have sex, but we did cuddle until we fell asleep. I knew that the alarm would sound much too early for us not to retire early.
Man, that alarm going off at 5:00 am really isn't setting very well with me, but we need to get out breakfast in us and get out the door. Jason and I can shower when we get back. I woke Jason up and then grabbed some fresh clothes and went to the guest bedroom to wake up my brother.
"Hey Joshua wake up!"
I grabbed hold of the mattress and pushed down on it several times. It took 4 pushes on the mattress to get him up. Guess, I forgot how sound of a sleeper Joshua is.
"Get your stuff together and grab breakfast. I think it's cereal today."
"Sounds good, bro!"
It didn't take us very long to get breakfast going this morning. Right after breakfast, we gave Joshua a chance to gargle and then we headed out the door.
Traffic was killer, so I`m glad that I planned for extra time to get to the airport. Once we were at the airport my brother was able to pick up his ticket and head for his gate. We exchanged hugs and made promises, then went our separate ways. I'm sitting here sick and worried about what might happen next.
Stand up, let your voice count! Don't let the world dictate the way that you'll live your life! Don't be afraid to be you! Let the word out or not, but stand behind your brothers and sisters. Be an extra pair of lungs when the world wants us silent. Reach out with your hands, your fingers, and your voice to help keep another soul from walking into darker paths. Be the arm that lifts them up!
