Jason awoke in JC's arms and smiled. `God, he's so strong, I've never been so happy in my entire life. . .'
"Good morning sweetheart," JC whispered to Jason, kissing him on the nose and smiling back at him. "Did you sleep well?"
"Always do when you hold me, how about you?"
"Never better."
Jason leaned up and kissed him quickly on the lips. "So what do you want to do today, love?"
"Hmm, that sounds like a good plan."
"What?"
"Love." JC laughed.
"You're so corny. Besides, we agreed, no loving until the time's right."
"I know sweetie, don't worry, I would never want to do anything with you until you were ready. But, if we aren't going to do anything, why not do it right and just lay here all day?"
"Sounds great, but don't you want to see the sights?"
"You said there weren't any." JC smiled.
"Well, they're not exciting to me anymore, but there are a lot of things to around here."
"Well, it's only," JC leaned over and peeked at Jason's alarm clock, "Eleven thirty." JC sighed. "Geez, you must have some effect on me, we couldn't have gotten more than 7 hours of sleep!"
"Ha. I do that to everyone. After a month you'll be getting near 6 every night if you're lucky! I never sleep more than that!"
"Ugh, how can you do that to yourself? Lucky for you I'm even more convincing, in a month, you'll be sleeping at least 10 hours a day on vacations and weekends!"
Jason laughed and kissed JC briefly. "Oh, you think so, huh? Why would I want to sleep that long when you're there and I could wake up and watch you sleep?"
"Aw, I love you."
"Love you, too sweetie." Jason looked up at the ceiling and frowned.
"Well, some people have had a hard time saying they loved me in the past but no one's ever looked that upset about it." JC tried to joke, even though he was a bit worried by Jason's expression.
"No, it's not that. It's just. . ." Jason paused, then sighed. "Well, here goes. . .in a month, are we. . .well what are we going to do when you leave? Do you think there still will be an us in a month when you leave in a week?" He asked very quickly.
"Of course there will be," JC replied, getting a slightly upset expression on his face as well.
"Well, what's going to happen when you leave?"
"I. . .I don't know, not yet anyway. But we'll figure it out. Can we worry about it later? I want this day to be happy and care-free."
"Me too. Ok, forget I even mentioned it. So, it's eleven thirty, what if we lay around til like two, go grab a bite to eat, and then I can show you around?"
"Sounds perfect. I just need to get up for one second."
Jason pouted. "What for?"
"Bathroom."
"Oh." He laughed. "Ok, if you want to there's a spare toothbrush in the medicine cabinet."
"So my breath smells huh?"
"No, I was just thinking how after you get done I was going to brush my teeth and it's the nice thing to do since it is my place and. . ."
"Relax sweetie, just teasing. Thanks for letting me know." JC winked and walked into the bathroom.
In Lance's room:
Justin woke by feeling Lance shivering against him. During the night all of the blankets had ended up around their feet. Picking them up and covering him, Justin wrapped his arms around Lance and tried to get back asleep. After a while he realized he couldn't but he didn't feel like getting up so he laid his head on Lance's shoulder and watched him sleep.
`He looks so peaceful, just in his own world. It was so scary seeing him so upset last night, but now he's just like an angel in his own world. . .oh my god. . .I'm in love with him. . .'
In Jason's apartment:
"Your turn." JC said, stepping back into the bedroom.
"Thanks, I think I'm going to take a shower now, ok? You can take one when I'm finished or before we leave if you'd like?" Jason walked into the bathroom and JC began to look around. `I know, I'll surprise him with my killer omelets.' JC ran into the kitchen and began to look for pans. Finding them he began to cook and was just placing them on the plates when Jason emerged from the bedroom.
"Mmm, something smells delicious." Jason said, wrapping his arms around JC's waist from behind.
"I made my famous omelets."
"Mmm, those smell good, too, but I was talking about you!"
"Oh hush. Sit down and eat before they get cold!" JC said, laughing along with Jason.
"I thought we were going to eat out after laying around?"
"We are. We're just going to lay around a bit longer, til like 4 now. And besides, I'll be hungry again by 2!"
"Yeah, who am I kidding, so will I!" Jason laughed, scooping up some of the omelet. "These are great, hun. Where'd you learn to cook like this?"
"My mommy taught me, thank you very much." JC said, laughing.
"Oh, how sweet. Well wait til you get to taste my pancakes, it'll put your mommy to shame. Guess it'll be my turn to cook tomorrow morning, huh?"
JC leaned over and kissed Jason full on the lips, parting his mouth with his tongue to get more passionate.
"Mmm," Jason said when the kiss was over, "what was that for?"
"Because you want us to have breakfast together again tomorrow."
"We'll have breakfast together every day you're here, I promise it!"
JC leaned back in for another kiss, this time trailing his mouth up to Jason's ear and nibbling on it. "Hmmm, I love you Jas. . ."
"I love you, too, Josh. . ."
In Lance's room:
Justin sat upright very quickly. `God, do I really? I couldn't. . .well, maybe. . .quit denying it. . .I am in love with him. . .'
"Justin?" Lance said, rolling over and looking up at him. "What's going on?"
"I'm, I'm sorry, go back to sleep. I was just getting up." `Oh my god. I'm gay. I can't. . .wow.'
"Um, well what were you doing in my bed?"
"Last night. . .you, you had another nightmare, I couldn't get you to wake up, so I just comforted you. I hope you don't mind?" `God, he probably doesn't even like you that way and now he's going to think you just got into bed with him last night to sleep with him!'
"Oh, um, thanks I guess."
"Yeah, well, I was just going back to my room to go back to sleep. . ."
"Oh," Lance sounded disappointed. `Geez, why are you so upset he wants to go to sleep?'
"Is something wrong? Do you want me to stay with you?" `I don't know if I can handle this. . .'
"No, I just, um, well you want to catch some breakfast? Or lunch whatever. When you wake up again?" `God, you're starting to depend on the kid's companionship. . .he's not a kid anymore really. . .well his friendship and always being there. . .snap out of it Lance, you used to always be ok on your own, you never needed anyone. . .now you have Justin comforting you to sleep and hanging out with you all of the time!'
". . .ok Lance?"
"Um, sorry what?"
"I said sure thing. I'll give ya a call when I wake up, ok?"
"You bet."
Justin got up completely and walked out of the room leaving Lance to just sit there. "Everything's going to be ok, Lance. Just take it easy." `God, I'm talking to myself out loud now! I need to call Mel.' Lance got up and searched for his phone, found it, and dialed.
"Hello?"
"Hey Mel, we need to talk."
"What's wrong bud?"
"I, I don't really know. It's just. . ."
"Yeah? Go ahead sweetie, you know I'm here for you. . ." Melanie was starting to get worried.
"Well, this is going to sound silly, but I think I'm becoming dependent on Justin's friendship."
"What? As far as how?"
"Well, like I've always been kinda on my own you know? Especially after I realized I was in love with JC I sorta secluded myself so no one would ever find out. Well now that I've told Justin the truth, I'm doing everything with him, and I hate being alone now. The thought of being alone all day upset me so much just a bit ago. . .I invited him to breakfast or lunch, whichever one it's closest to when he wakes up. . ."
"Oh did you call and wake him up?"
"No, he slept here last night. . ."
"He what?! Lance what are you doing???"
"No, no, not like that. . .we fell asleep on the couch, so I gave him a blanket and a pillow, but I was having a nightmare I guess, I kind of remember it, and he got into bed with me. I had such a peaceful sleep after that Mel."
"Oh my poor little Lance."
"So you see my problem?"
"Oh sure I do, hun. But you're not becoming dependent on his friendship or anything silly like that."
"But Mel I used to be so strong by myself, I had to be, and now I. . ."
"I understand dear, but that just means you're finally opening yourself up, it's ok to do that. Especially to such a good friend like Justin."
"So, if that's not my problem, what do you think it is?"
"Well, you're not going to like it."
"Oh c'mon Mel, you're always right, I know that. If you think it's the truth I'll just have to get over how much I don't like it."
"Well, just remember that now. You're problem is. . .you're falling for him."
Lance remained completely silent. `Did she just say. . .?' "Mel? Did you just say what I think you did?"
"Yep, you're developing a crush on Justin. . ."
"Mel, come on, he's a kid. Besides, I love JC." Lance sighed at the thought of JC.
"Correction, he's not a kid anymore, you told me that yourself last night. Second correction, you may love JC, but not having JC and spending all this time with Justin is making you fall IN love with him."
"Mel, this is the first time I've actually thought you were wrong and known it was true! What are you on? This is JUSTIN we're talking about!"
"I knew you'd react like this. . .but it's ok, hun, you've got all the time in the world to realize it this time. . .especially since Justin's got it for you just as bad."
"WHAT!??"
"Shh, they'll here you in the next universe! You heard me."
"Mel you've lost your touch with people and impressions. You've totally got this one read wrong."
"Well, if you insist on being blind to the truth right now I can't help you dear, just remember my words. And it's ok this time, he likes you so you have all the time in the world to come to grips and approach him. But Lance, don't take too long, ok? Don't make him wait for you or he may move on."
"Mel, for real. Me and J are just good. . ."
"Lance, just remember it, ok? I have to go, I have an appointment and was on my way out the door, but remember and I'll call you later sweetie. Bye!"
Lance sat there in shock, unable to even hang up the phone. `Wow, Mel's really lost it this time. . .thinking I'm in love with Curly. . .geez, and beyond that, he's the straightest guy I know, how could he possibly have a thing for me, and if he did, he KNOWS I'm gay, so he woulda tried something. . .' Lance was starting to get a headache so he laid back down and fell asleep almost instantly.
In Justin's room:
"Geez, wait til I tell JC, he'll flip. . ." Justin whispered to himself as he closed the door behind him. `Well, you can't really tell JC without telling him about Lance, and you can't do that to him. He trusted you with his secret. . .but who am I going to be able to entrust with my secret?. . .you could tell Lance. . .no I couldn't! Then he'd be completely uncomfortable around me and wouldn't ever want to hang out again. At least this way he's inviting me to breakfast and stuff like that. . .well not the whole thing, but you could tell him you're gay at least. . .no, cuz then it's obvious I have a thing for him or why didn't I tell him when he told me he was?. . .well you didn't know until now. . .and the only reason I do know is because I love him. . .' Justin sighed and collapsed on his bed.
`Geez, I must be in love, I miss being in his arms already. . .not that I was really in his arms, he didn't realize we were holding eachother all night, but still. . .just being next to him. . .well he did say call for breakfast, I could just say I wasn't sleepy and we could go hang out!' Justin jumped for the phone, almost knocking it off the table as he dialed Lance's room number.
In Lance's room:
Lance was jolted awake by the sound of the telephone. "Mm, `ello?"
"Lance? Ready for breakfast?" Justin asked, very excited.
"Geez Curly, thought you were going back to sleep?" Lance yawned.
"Oh? Did I wake you?" He sounded very sad.
"Yeah, but that's coo J, give me fifteen and I'll meet ya by the elevator."
"Ah, coo, see ya then man!"
Lance sighed. You invited him, remember?. . .' He sighed again as his head began to pound once more. Mel's wrong, he's just being Curly. Got too excited when he got back to his room so now he's hyper and hungry, two dangerous things for Justin to be feeling. . .' Lance smiled and got in the shower.
In Jason's apartment:
"Hey Jason, can I use your phone?"
"Of course. Why did you even ask? It's right over there on the kitchen wall." He pointed to it from the couch as JC got up.
"Thanks, I just wanted to call Justin."
"Oh?" He tried not to sound curious.
"Relax sweetheart, just checking in, letting him know I was here last night and we're both not out in a ditch, case he's trying to find me."
"Ah, kay then." Jason changed the channel and began to get very interested in the pictures he was seeing on TV.
JC dialed Justin's cell. `Hmm, not answering.' He dialed the hotel. "Room 1241 please?"
"One moment."
"He. . .hello?"
"Justin?"
"Yeah, hey Josh, one sec kay?"
"Um, sure." JC waited.
"Kay, was in the shower, wanted to grab a towel. What's going on?"
"Oh I just wanted to tell ya I'm at Jason's case ya were worried."
"Nah, didn't even know you were still gone man, but I gotta run."
"Oh, um, ok, where ya going?"
"Lance and I are going to catch some food."
"Ok, have fun J."
Justin hung up the phone.
"Geez, bye to you, too, Curly."
"Josh? What's wrong sweetie?" Jason asked from the couch.
"Oh, nothing," he said, heading back into the living room, "Justin just seemed real weird is all. And he hung up on me."
"Really? That doesn't seem like him. Did he say he was in a hurry?"
"Well, he was getting ready go grab some food with Scoop, but he could have at least said bye. It's weird, the other day at lunch and how they went shopping after, Scoop and Curly have never been real close. Come to think of it, Scoop's never been real close with any of us."
"Ah, well Justin's like that. Least as far as I can tell. If anyone was going to make him open up, I'd have bet money on Justin and I've only known him a few days. Especially since you and I are spending so much time together, it must be killing Justin to not have anyone to hang out with."
"Oh, I hadn't thought of that. I wonder if he's mad at me?"
"I doubt it, hun. Don't worry yourself over it. If he had been I don't think you would have gotten that far in talking with him, and he seemed happy, didn't he?"
"Yeah, he seemed real hyper."
"He's fine then, don't worry about it, but maybe we can stop by the hotel later so you guys can talk for a few about everything?"
"You're so great, you know exactly how to make everything ok again."
"I try." Jason started laughing.
"I should have never said anything, don't want you getting a big head now do we?"
"Never gonna happen."
"So what are you watching?"
"I dunno, but it looks real good. There's a VERY sexy man on."
"Hey!" JC said, then he looked at the TV and saw himself laughing. "Oh, nevermind, you're right, that is a very sexy man." Jason had it on N'sync's 50 favorite video countdown.
"Now who's getting a big head?"
In Lance's room:
Lance finished spiking his hair with gel and pulled his khakis on over his boxers, buttoning his green shirt that made his eyes sparkle. He threw on some sandles and headed out the door, running into Justin already waiting at the elevator.
"Hey Scoop, you ready?" Justin looked up from the floor where he was sitting.
"You bet." He reached down a hand to help Justin up and smiled. Justin was wearing baby blue jogging pants and a baby blue and white jersey.
"I was thinking, it's like 1 pm, are wecatching lunch or breakfast?"
"Hmm, guess it's lunch huh?"
"Well, we could catch breakfast still if we went to a Perkins?" Justin offered.
"Nah, lunch sounds good to me." Lance said, pressing the button for the lobby.
"Coo, where to?"
"Um, well neither of us is in good disguise, we should probably hit up a small restaurant so no one recognizes us."
"Good plan. Where's Jason when we need his knowledge?" Justin laughed while Lance frowned. Noticing this Justin stopped. "What's wrong Scoop?"
"Oh, nothing, just didn't feel good for a second there." In truth his head was killing him but he knew that wasn't the reason he frowned when he heard Jason's name.
"Well, if you're not feeling well we could forget it." Justin said, getting a bit disappointed.
"It's not that bad, c'mon I'm hungry!"
"Coo. So should we drive?"
"Yeah, most definitely. We'd never make it out the front doors to our limo without signing at least 200 autographs and I'm not in the mood."
"Either am I." Justin said, smiling. "Especially since I'm driving."
"Must we go through this again my child? I'm driving, I'm older."
"Not that much! And besides, I promise to be good this time. I'm getting better the more experience I get!"
Lance laughed. "Ok, ok, but if you kill me think of all the fans that will cry themselves to sleep for a week!"
`I would, too, that's why I'd never let you get hurt.' "I suppose I must be really careful then. Would hate to see our fans so upset. They may not make it to our concerts."
"You jerk. You'd still have a concert with little ol' me dead?" Lance pouted, looking upset as they reached the jeep in the underground lot.
"The show must go on!" Justin laughed.
"Fine, I'll just have to haunt you!" Lance said, sticking out his tongue.
They both looked at eachother and started laughing, as Justin started the jeep.
"Ok, what are you in the mood for J?"
"I dunno, how bout you?"
"I could go for a burger I think?"
"Sounds coo, Scoop, I think I saw a TGI Friday's up over on the freeway."
"Alright, lead the way!"
They got there and ordered, luckily being placed in a booth in the back.
"This place is cool." Justin said, lost for conversation and trying to start one. "I should've told JC and Jason to meet us here."
"What?" Lance jerked his head up at the mention of JC and Jason.
"Well JC called earlier and I told him we were going to lunch, I should have invited them."
"What are they doing? I thought JC was sleeping in his room?"
"No, he crashed at Jason's." `Oh no, I can't let Lance find out about them, I forgot he didn't know. . .'
"Geez, aren't they getting friendly. . ." `Stop, you don't want Justin to find out you've got a thing for JC do you?'
"Jason's pretty cool, they've just really clicked."
"Oh." Lance smiled bitterly. `Yeah, really clicked. . .poor Justin doesn't even realize JC and Jason are more than friends.'
The rest of the meal passed very silently, each of the boys throwing out bits here and there but not really starting a conversation. Justin headed back to the hotel after, for lack of any other ideas or words from Scoop to go elsewhere. They headed up to their floor and both kind of looked at eachother, then entered their own rooms.
`Geez, what'd I say to make him so upset?' Justin sat down on his bed and closed his eyes, thinking.
In Lance's room:
`God, he spent the night at his place!!!' Lance let a single tear roll down his cheek as he sat down on his bed and clutched at a pillow.
"I love you JC, why don't you see this and be with me? I've known you longer, I know what you're like and what you need. . ." Lance whispered to no one in particular. Sighing, he laid his head on another pillow, still clutching one in his arms, and sobbed himself to sleep.
In Jason's apartment:
JC walked out of the shower and ran his fingers through his hair. "I guess I'm set, but how can you not have gel?"
"I have mousse, it's the same thing!"
"No it isn't, it dissolves to quickly, you can't put it in your hair." JC complained.
Laughing, Jason got up and grabbed JC's hand, dragging him into the bathroom behind him. "Allow me, sweetheart." And with that Jason fixed JC's hair, using his mousse until it was to his liking.
"Hey that doesn't look too bad!"
"Told you so. You look wonderful, not that you didn't before."
"Aw, how sweet." JC kissed him on the forehead. "Let's go."
"But it's only 3pm."
"I know, I want to see these sights you keep bragging about."
Jason laughed. "Alright, if you insist." They headed out of the apartment, locking the door behind them. As Jason turned to head towards the elevator Sarah emerged from her apartment.
Jason walked over to the elevator and pushed down, not even looking at her. JC sighed and looked over to catch her dirty glare.
"Alrght, that's it, enough. Sarah, is it?"
"Yes. And I don't wish to speak with you Mr. Chasez."
"I don't really care. I love him, and no matter how much you can't understand this, you're the only person here that's hurting him. I'm treating him with every ounce of respect and genteel manner I can muster, and you're making him feel like trash. As hard as you find it to fathom, I AM in love with him, and only him, I'm not taking advantage of him, in order to do that I think you have to actually have sex, which we haven't, though it's none of your business. As far as I'm concerned we never have to either, as long as he will hold me in his arms and tell me he loves me and I can repeat it to him.
Now yes, I am a very busy person, and it is something to work out when I leave town, but we both have confidence that we can handle it because we love each other. Love can conquer all, and as much as you claim to be doing this out of love, you must be a liar, because I don't know how anyone can stand to spend this much time away from Jason, I know just the thought of not speaking to him or treating him half as bad as you have in the last few days makes me sick to my stomach.
I understand you've known him longer, and I know how you think you love him, but the only thing that matters to me right now is his happiness. Since your attitude isn't making him happy I suggest you either learn to grow up and accept that he is an adult and can make his own choices or you get completely out of his life with no promise of return because your self- righteous attitude is making it difficult for him to remain happy. I know he loves you and would hate to know you don't love him back, but you sure as hell aren't convincing me that you care for him at all."
With that JC wrapped his arm around Jason's waist and walked him into the elevator as he looked straight ahead with a dumbfounded look upon his face. Sarah looked stricken as well, with her mouth hanging wide open as the doors shut in her face.
"I'm. . .I'm sorry love, I just, she was hurting. . .I wanted to help." JC was shaking. "I've never been that mean before in my life but I hate seeing what she does to you."
"Oh god, Josh, JC? Sweetheart, I love you, I can't even believe you stuck up for me like that!" Jason hugged JC very hard and kissed him passionately. "No one's ever done that for me before! I've never felt closer to you."
"Are you sure? I don't want you to hate me, I didn't mean to be such an asshole, but I couldn't take her dirty looks anymore and I really meant what I said."
"It's ok, Josh. It's perfectly fine."
"Ok." JC returned his hug. "I don't know if it helped any though."
"Who knows, but it sure as hell shocked her!" Jason tried to get JC to laugh.
"Hmm." Was all he could reply.
"C'mon sweetie, did you see her face? She couldn't believe you let all that out at her, not many people stand up to her."
JC let out a slight chuckle. "I suppose not, but I have to watch out for my baby."
Jason smiled and cuddled up against him real quick before the elevator dinged and the doors opened. "Thank you." he whispered and they headed out the door.
To Be Continued.
Send all comments to jas_stories@hotmail.com. Well I did receive a larger reply last time. Thanks to all of you who took a minute out to let me know how it was going. Glad to hear from many of you new people and a few of those who I haven't heard from in a while. This three day weekend was great, but now it's time to get back to work again, so who knows when the next installment will be out, just keep your eyes open and let me know how you thought this one went. Tried to get a little bit more out there for those of you who are dying to know what's going on between Lance and Justin. It's official now, we know Justin's got it bad, but why doesn't Lance see it? And why is he still crying over JC when it's obvious Jason and he are so happy? Guess you'll have to wait to find out. . .
