Justin and Jason-19 This is fiction and not true, you shouldn't be here if you too young or offended.
I woke up the next morning and the events of last night were the first thing to come back to my mind. I got up and got around and went downstairs to get some breakfast. I noticed a note on the table from Justin.
Jas, went to the studio. Be back tonight. I want to talk to you, love ya Justin.
I read the note and got my breakfast. I noticed that it was almost ten o'clock. I grabbed my keys and walked out into the garage and walked over to the firebird. I looked at my truck sitting next to it and decided that I would take it instead. I headed down to the automatic car wash before going to Alex's office. I washed and waxed my truck to get it shining its absolute best. I did a little more running around, paying bills and such. When I walked into Alex's office it was exactly noon.
"Hey, Jas. I was wondering if you'd show up." He said greeting me.
"Yeah, well what is the news." I asked sitting down.
"Well, I got good news and bad news." He said looking at me "the good news is that if you testify against the people in Miami that gave you the guns, and the people in Pittsburgh that you delivered the guns to, you will get the minimum sentence."
"Which is?" I asked.
"Five years," he replied.
"Is that the bad news," I remarked.
"Partly, I called Tom the other day. Jas, you no longer work for N'sync. You've been fired." He said.
"Figures," I said.
"Well, back to the Plea Bargain. Will you accept the terms?" He asked.
"I don't have much choice." I said. "When is all this supposed to happen?"
"You're trial is in another week. Now if you accept the terms, I can call the prosecutor and judge and rule on this thing tomorrow afternoon." He said.
"Alright, call em." I said standing up.
"Jason, I'm sorry it has to be this way." He said standing.
"Sorry, you should be proud, that's a hell of a deal." I said smiling. We said our good-byes and I departed. I went back home and decided to just hang out for the rest of the day. About seven o'clock that night Justin walked in and saw me lying on the couch in the den. He came in the garage door to the kitchen and saw me through the doorway.
"Hey Jas," He remarked.
"Hey Justin," I replied.
"How did things go at Alex's today?" he asked sitting at me feet.
"If I testify against some people, they give me the minimum sentence." I replied.
"How long is that" Justin asked with a hint of fear in his voice.
"Five years," I said sighing and sitting up to face Justin.
"Jas, I don't know if I can hold on that long, with out you." He said sliding toward me and hugging me.
"Justin you're a big boy and you'll be fine." I remarked. "Now what did you want to talk to me about?"
"Well, I wanted to know how you felt about me. Do you still distrust me?" he asked looking at the cushion.
"Justin, I trust you more than anyone. You are the one person I do trust. The next time you talk to Zack, ask him whom all I trust. He'll tell you about me and trusting people." I said.
I got up and went to get some food. I brought some cookies back a sat on the couch. I offered Justin one and I stuck it in his mouth for him. I accepted it graciously. We sat there for awhile and ate cookies until they were all gone.
"When is this all gonna happen, the trial thing?" he asked.
"Well, mine is tomorrow, I don't know when I testify." I said.
"Tomorrow, Then tonight is you're last night here." He said depressed as all hell.
"Maybe, I don't know." I answered.
"Then I ain't gonna let you spend it here on the couch. Come on, you and I are going out for supper, my treat." He said pulling me off the couch. We went upstairs and put on some good clothes and went out to on for the best restaurants in Orlando. We had wine and everything. The whole nine yards. After we stopped by Zack's house to see how he was doing and I informed him of my situation. He excused himself and came back into the room with a six-pack of beer.
"Drink up, this is your last night and we ain't wasting any time." He said handing both Justin and I a beer.
"Zack, were did you get this stuff, I thought that you were underage." Justin said.
"I am underage, but what's that got to do with anything, you are too." He said taking a drink.
"I don't think that we should be drinking. We are still too young." Justin said looking at both of us.
"Justin, don't take this the wrong way, but I'm already fucked. Do you think that getting an underage is gonna bother me any." I said.
"Justin, if you don't want to, I won't make you. That is your decision and I respect it." Zack said looking at Justin.
"I gotta take a piss. Zack where the bathroom?" I asked standing up.
"Right through that door," Zack said pointing at a doorway. I made for that door like I was being shot at.
"Zack, does Jason trust you?" he asked.
"Yeah, I hope. With Jason trust is something you earn, he don't give it out." He said.
"How do you earn his trust?" Justin asked inquisitively.
"Be there when he needs help. Let him know you care and respect him." Zack said seriously and all emotion gonna from his face. Justin could tell that he was serious.
"How did you get his trust?" he asked.
"Jason and I had been friends for years. He had just found out that his parents were dead. I went to see him and he was devastated. He told me to get lost, but I wouldn't leave. After a few minutes of him cursing at me for staying, he started to let me help him and be there for him. He and I grew closer and there grew, from that moment, a bond of trust between us. No relation, no law, nothing can break that bond. There is no one I would rather have in my corner, than Jason. Wrong or right, I know he'll be there for me." Zack said finishing his beer.
I Came back out and sat back down on the couch.
"So, what do we do now." I asked.
"I don't know, go home and have ourselves a party." Justin said leaning against me.
"You two are beyond help." Zack said looking at us. We got up and started toward the door.
"See ya Zack," I said shaking his hand.
"Ya, you will. I'll see ya around." Zack said shaking my hand. Zack and I looked at one another the way best friends look at each other and I turned to leave.
"Bye pal." I said walking out the door. Justin and I went home and started to fool around a little, but we were both to tired to do anything major. I woke up the next morning and Justin was there next to me, staring at me.
"Can I help you?" I asked.
"I just can't believe that I won't see you for five years after today." Justin said with a tear in his eye.
"With time off for good behavior, I'll be back in no time at all." I said. We both got up and around. We started downstairs and the rest of the guys were waiting for us. JC, Lance, Joey, Chris, Lynn and Jonathan, and Zack all stood there at the foot of the stairs waiting.
"Jas, we'll be waiting for you to get out." JC said first.
"Thanks, I mean it." I said shaking his hand.
"See ya round Jas," Lance said as we shook hand.
"Yeah, count on it. And keep the kid out of trouble" I said pointing to Justin.
"You bet," he replied with a grin. I then moved down to Joey.
"Jason," He said.
"Take care Joey." I said shaking his hand as well.
"Lynn, nice to see ya." I said shaking he hands. She reached over and hugged me.
"Oh, Jas. Were gonna miss you." Lynn said almost crying.
"Bye Jason." Jonathan said in between sniffles.
"Yeah, keep your big brother out of trouble until I get back. You're the only one I can count on here Jonathan, Ok." I said kneeling to get face to face with him.
"Ok," he replied. Next was the hardest one to say good bye to.
"Zack, we had fun didn't we." I said.
"We did and will when you get back." He said taking my hand to shake it. We both just decided to give each other a hug. It was the first time we had ever hugged.
"Justin, you want to give me a lift to the court house?" I asked.
"Sure" he said almost in tears. We climbed into our car and were off. It took us awhile to get there. Justin kept taking the long way. We finally did arrive in front of the courthouse.
"Well, I guess this is it," I said looking at him.
"I love you Jas," he said leaning over and giving me a hug and kiss.
"I love you too, don't worry, I'll be fine. I'll be out in no time. Just you wait and see" I said getting out. When I got out I noticed Zack and JC in JC's jeep. Zack got out and walked over to the driver side of the car and got Justin out and put him in the back.
"I thought it best to drive him home and not let him do it." Zack said looking at me.
"Thanks Zack, for everything" I said. I turned around and went inside the courthouse and met up with Alex.
"Alex," I said walking up to him.
"Jason," he said. Neither of us extending our hands to shake hands, this wasn't a pleasant visit. " You ready?"
"Ready as I'll ever be." I said as we walked into the Judges chambers. It went rather smoothly. I agreed to testify, so the judge sentenced me to five years in prison. I was taken and put in a federal penitentiary.
I testified against everyone in the organization of gunrunners and started to pay my debt to society. Justin and the rest of the guys and Zack visited me regularly. They always asked how I was, what could they do shit like that. After a few visits, Joey and Chris topped coming. Then lance stopped coming to visit me. Justin, JC and Zack came to see me regularly still. Then they all stopped coming. I got a letter from Zack saying that he had quit working for the guys, but was still living where he had when he did work for them. He told me that he would be out of state for a good while and wouldn't make it to see me. Justin sent me letter regularly, but after a few months of that, the letters stopped coming. I wrote to him, but never got a reply. By this time I figured they had all forgotten about me.
About a year into my sentence, I got a visit from a man I hadn't seen since he arrested me.
"Troy, nice to see a familiar face." I said as he approached my cell.
"Well Jas, I'm glad to see you don't hold a grudge," he said extending his hand as the guard opened the door.
"I said familiar face, not friendly face." I said as I turned and headed for my cot. "What do you want?"
"You're help." He said. I just started laughing.
"You send me, your best friend, down the river and then turn around and ask for help. Troy you got balls, I'll give ya that." I said as I took a cigarette out of my shirt pocket and searched for my lighter, when Troy offered to light it for me. I accepted his light and waited to here what he had to say.
"Jason, for a number of months ago, trucks out in Arizona have been getting hijacked." He said looking at me. "Local police departments put and undercover agent in the truck and he was found dead"
"That's when it became a federal matter," I interrupted.
"Right, the agency put three more agents undercover and they too were found dead. We need someone that can drive and handle a gun really good. These officers weren't too good at driving and it is my hunch that that is how they were found out. We need someone that can drive, and take care of himself if he gets into trouble. I think that you are just the guy for the job." Troy said looking at me.
"What makes you think that I am interested." I asked looking him in the eye.
"For your help, you'll be released," he said.
"Released with compensation for being locked up and I want this stricken from my record." I said standing up.
"I don't have authority to do that," he replied.
"Bullshit, Troy you wouldn't come here if you couldn't do anything I ask. You forget how much you and I are alike." I said.
"You're right, I'll have what you requested done. You will be released, compensated, and keep your liberties." He said. Troy went to see the warden and within a half-hour. I was in street clothes and free again.
"Ohh man, I forgot how great it feels to be free," I said sitting in Troy's rental car.
"Well, now you and I have to go to the office and brief you about the situation, and then brief my boss about you." He said.
"Let's go. I want to get this over and done with. I want to get back to Justin." I said as Troy drove towards the airport. We went to his office and I was introduced to everyone and the plan was laid out. I was to drive a truck full of valuable items down the road and when I was about to get hijacked, I would call troy in and they would be arrested and I would be allowed to go home.
