Lance's Song 7~
The following morning, when Tyler woke up, he was surprised to find himself being held by Lance. Then the events of the previous night flashed through him, and he smiled. Just a little smile, but a smile just the same. They were together. Lance had come back.
Giggling a little, like a school girl gazing at her first crush, Tyler found himself thinking of the future. Their future. He had stopped dreaming after Matt... no, he wasn't going to think about him this morning. This morning was the future, and Matt was the past. Tyler continued to look at Lance with adoration in his eyes, until he felt the bed rustle. Glancing down at the foot of the bed, he was surprised to see a tired Megan sitting there, looking at her dad and Lance. Together. In the same bed.
" Morning Meggers." Tyler said, smiling at her.
" Daddy." She said, smiling a little, then she looked at Lance. "Lance!" She screeched, jumping up from the foot of the bed and attacking him. With a grunt, Lance found himself being jumped all over by the little girl. He laughed a little, then began in earnest to tickle her.
" HAAAAAAAAA" she screamed, trying to untangle herself from the sheets. Lance's hands were moving quite fast, and tickling her.
Tyler looked at the pair of them for a couple of minutes. If he didn't know any better, he'd have sworn they were father and daughter. The way they interacted, their obvious love for eachother, their silly grins that were almost identical. Yes, Lance and Megan were perfect for eachother. He was knocked out of his trance when Megan threw herself into his arms. Lance began to tickle him too, and before anyone knew how it happened, the three of them ended up on the floor, laughing uncontrollably.
The loud thud sounded through the house, and a few seconds later the door to Tyler's bed room was opened by a panicked Rachel.
" Is everyone alright?" She questioned, looking at Tyler, then at Megan, and lastly Lance. Tyler managed a nod before breaking down into laughter all over again. Lance followed suit, and Megan just sat there. Rachel walked towards the three of them, and after debating with herself for a couple of seconds, picked Megan up. She didn't want Megan to be hurt.
" How are you Megs?" She asked. Megan just looked at her, and smiled.
" if daddy and Lance are this much fun when they wake up together, then they'd better wake up together every morning!" she pronounced, causing the three adults in the room to stop and stare at Megan. They knew they would have to have a talk with her about mentioning that little fact to anyone. Lance stopped laughing, as did Tyler. The two of them stood up and motioned for Rachel to set Megan down. Rachel complied, and walked over to the two of them.
" what do we tell her?" Tyler asked, looking away from the others to a grinning Megan. She was sitting on the floor, trying to untangle herself from a sheet.
" I don't know." Lance replied, also looking at the image spread before him. Megan was so special... he didn't want to risk loosing her... loosing Tyler.
" The truth." Rachel said. Lance stared at her.
" She's only 4. Do you think she can handle the truth?" He questioned. Rachel nodded.
" Lance, kids sometimes handle the truth better then adults do." Tyler explained. Lance thought it over, and nodded. Megan did seem to see things that they missed.
" I guess so. But how..." He lamented. Rachel just nodded at Tyler, and he nodded back.
" We sit down and talk with her, like a grown up." Rachel explained.
" lance, we've had to do this a couple times before.... she responds really really well to it." Tyler explained.
" Why did you have to do this before?" lance questioned. Tyler just looked at him, and knew that Lance would have to find out sooner or later... he might as well tell him now.
" We had to do this when Matt died." Tyler explained.
" Megan was only two at the time, and she kept asking when Matt would be home." Rachel explained, with tears in the corners of her eyes.
" I'm sorry.... I didn't know." Lance said. Tyler took a breath, as if to begin to tell the story, but Lance stopped him.
" Not now. Tell me later, when we're alone." he whispered. Tyler nodded.
" Hey Meggers, can you come over here for a minute?" Lance asked Megan, who had finally succeeded in untangling herself from the sheet. She grinned, and toddled over.
" Honey, we need to talk to you about something. Something serious." Tyler said. Immediately Megans expression changed, from one of a happy girl to one of a little girl who had seen to much in to short a life.
Rachel picked her up and settled Megan in her lap. The two of them waited for Tyler and Lance to get comfy on the bed, before they began talking.
" Meggers, you know how we cuddle at night?" Tyler asked. Megan nodded, smiling a little. " I do that because I love you soooooo much." Tyler explained. Megan nodded one more time.
" Honey, when adults like eachother that much..." Rachel began, " they cuddle too." Megan nodded. That made sense.
" Like daddy and Lance?" She questioned. Rachel nodded.
" Megan honey, the thing is, most people think Boys are supposed to cuddle with girls, and not with other boys." Tyler said. Megan looked at Lance and then at Tyler. Her smiled dimmed a little.
" so Megan, sweetie, if other people found out that your daddy and me were cuddling together, they would get upset." Lance continued. "Do you understand?"
" ahuh." Megan said, no longer smiling.
" Good, sweetie. So can you do me and Lance a huge favor?" Tyler asked. Megan nodded once more. " don't tell anyone else that we were cuddling together, okay?" Megan looked at Tyler, then at Lance, and finally at her mommy. Her eyes had little tears in them, but still she nodded.
" Thank you sweetie, from the bottom of my heart. I love you." Tyler said, hugging Megan to his chest. Lance soon joined in on the hug, as did Rachel. The four of them sat there for a few minutes, before Rachel finally moved.
" Hey Tyler, didn't you have to be at the studio this morning?" She asked. Tyler looked at the clock, and jumped up.
"Shit. We're late!" He screeched. Megan just looked at him, and Rachel frowned.
" Tyler!" Lance said, jumping up also. " Don't swear!" He nodded towards Megan. Tyler immediately began to look ashamed. Rachel just shook her head and lifted Megan up. The two of them walked out of the bed room, leaving Tyler and Lance to get ready.
Twenty minutes later the two of them walked out of Tyler's bed room, showered and dressed. Rachel gave them the once over, and nodding approvingly, pointing towards the kitchen.
" Megs is in there eating Breakfest. Ty, can you please take her to the studio again today?" She questioned.
" Rach, today's your day." He responded. She shot him a withering look.
" please Ty. I wouldn't ask unless it was extremely important. I have a meeting this morning about a new job..."
" I suppose so." he said, smiling inside. He loved it when Megan came to the studio. " that is, as long as Lance doesn't mind."
" Why would I mind?" He asked. " Megan's sooo sweet, and cute. The other guys are going to love her."
" speaking of the other guys, do they know you spent the night?" Tyler asked. Lance shook his head.
" nah, I'll just tell them I crashed on your sofa or something." He responded.
" okay. Do they know?" Tyler questioned. Lance pretended not to hear.
" so Rachel, what kind of job are you applying for?" Lance questioned. She didn't answer.
" Do they know Lance?" She asked, backing Tyler up. Lance looked at the pair of them, so obviously sticking up for eachother, and groaned.
" yeah." he finally replied. " I came out to them a while ago."
" and..." Tyler prompted. There was something Lance wasn't telling him.
" nothing." he replied. Tyler decided to let it drop.
" Okay then. We'd better go. Good luck Rach." Tyler said, walking towards the kitchen. Lance caught up with him.
" what?" He asked. Tyler just looked at him.
" Lance, I know you aren't telling me something, but it's okay. I haven't told you everything either. You can tell me when your ready." Tyler replied. Lance smiled and leaned in for a kiss. It was a sweet kiss, and regretfully both pulled apart minutes later.
" I could get used to this." Lance said, leaning in for another kiss. Tyler shook his head.
" Lance, I want to get to know you first." he said. " is that cheesy?"
" no, it's sweet." Lance replied.
" Good, then tonight... would you like to go out... on a date?" Tyler asked. Lance nodded.
" I'd love too." He said.
" Tonight then." Tyler replied, walking into the kitchen. Mumbling under his breath... yes!
