My head was spinning it had been so long since I thought about the attack and it was a distant memory as far as I was concerned. Now I just got a phone call telling me that they had information on the attack that I had suffered months ago.

I was nervous about going in because I didn't know what to expect. In all honesty I never thought they would find out who attacked me. After I hung up the phone I was of course shaken up and I didn't want anyone to see me this way and didn't feel like answering questions so I slipped away from everyone and headed outside to sit and get some fresh air.

After a few minutes I heard someone behind me and looked up to see Matt. I knew it wouldn't be long before he would come and find me.

"Sean, are you ok?" Matt said with concern on his face. Obviously he could tell by my face that something was wrong.

"Matty... I just got a phone call about my attack. They said they have some information on who did it." I sighed.

Matt looked surprised and confused "Well isn't that a good thing?"

"Matt I have not thought about it in so long and I thought it was over with. Now all of the memories are going to come back and I don't know if I am strong enough to go through it again." I said to him with tears starting to form in my eyes.

He reached for me and pulled me in for a hug "Sean you are the strongest person I have ever met. You have overcome so much and even became friends with the bully who was making you miserable. If anyone can do this I know it's you." He said smiling. "Besides I will be by your side the whole time and you have all your friends and your parents supporting you."

"Mr. Williams." The detective said. "Can you tell me anything that you remember from the night you were attacked?"

My throat at a lump in it, I hated to think back on it. "Well I remember walking up toward my house and then my head started to hurt and I realized I was on the ground. Then I heard shouting. I heard Travis yelling something. At first I thought it was him who had attacked me."

"Why is that Mr. Williams?" The detective continued his line of questioning.

"Well Travis and me... had not gotten along in school. He used to bully me." I said. I felt bad having to say it but it was the truth even if we are friends now he did bully me at one time.

"Please detective. I have already answered these questions before." I pleaded him to stop.

He looked at me with sympathy "I am sorry Mr. Williams we are just trying to make sure you remember everything. This will help when we go to trial."

Oh God... I wasn't even thinking of a trial. I began to panic a bit. Calm down. I tried to tell myself.

"Detective? I was under the impression that you had information on about who attacked me?" I asked him. Why was he still asking me questions if we knew.

He explained to me that it all needed to be written down and thorough for the trial. The more they had the better chances on a conviction. He still gave me no information on who attacked me.

"Do you know anyone by the name of Brock?" The detective asked me.

Brock? Was he the one who attacked me but Matt and I helped him the nighto f the crash.

"Yes, sir! He is on the football team at school." I told the detective. I began telling him how the football team started all to bullying at school but after the crash most of the team left me alone and even apologized and I thought things at school were getting better.

Throughout all of this the detective kept writing down my statement. After a while of all I had told him, he interrupted me.

"Mr. Williams we have found some evidence that links Brock Stevenson to your attack. After your attack had been reported several of our team discovered footprints and a piece of paper on the ground near where you were attacked. Just recently we were able to match both of those to Mr. Stevenson." The detective calmly was explaining to me.

My mind was racing. How could someone who barely knew anything about me be so hateful toward me? I was very emotional and wanted to cry but I also tried to be strong not only for myself but for my family and friends. I didn't want them to see me cry.

"Now Mr. Williams this is where we need you. Do you want to press charges against Mr. Stevenson?" The detective asked me.

I thought for a minute and then asked "What will happen to him if I press charges?"

"Well Mr. Williams since this can be considered a hate crime if he gets convicted he could face a long time in jail." The detective said to me.

Great now I was going to be responsible for putting someone away for a long time. I got an idea after a while of thinking what to do.

"Detective, is there any way I could talk with Brock?" I asked. "I don't want to be the cause of ruining someone's life without talking to them at least before making my decision."

"If you think you are up for it. I can have it arranged for you to talk to him." The detective said.

I felt like I was going to throw up. I needed to talk to Brock see if he had any remorse for what he had done but I was also scared to face him.

"Matt will you go with me for a walk. I need fresh air." I turned to him.

He smiled and said "Of course." His smile always melts my heart.

As we were walking Matt turned to me and started to talk "Sean are you sure this is a good idea? I mean you almost died. Brock should be punished for what he did."

"Matty I could never live with myself if I sent someone to prisons without hearing their side of the story." I was staring him in the eyes and then I couldn't help it I pulled him in for a kiss. It was so good and I did not want it to end but I soon heard the detective call my name.

I sat there staring at him and he didn't even have the courage to look me in the eyes.

"Why did you do it Brock? I never did anything to you. I stayed to myself at school and never made contact with you." I said to him.

At first I didn't think he was going to answer me. Then after a few minutes he started to talk.

"You know. You think you did nothing me but just seeing you every day in school made me sick." He began to say. "Seeing you being happy with who you are. It made me want to punch you in the face. I hated you. I hated everything about you."

I was shocked and asked him "Why? I don't get it?"

He gave a grin that made my hair stick up. "You want me to tell you why. That night after the crash everyone saw you as a hero. I was furious with you. I didn't need your help." He then started to look me in the eyes. "My father left us after the crash. Said I was a mistake and should never have been born and that my mother should have had me aborted but I didn't care because I hate him. He treated my mother horrible. I blamed you for it. You and your damn happiness that made me sick to my stomach." He continued.

I was beginning to get really creeped out. He seemed so cold and full of hate.

"After I attacked you that night, I regretted what I did." He said and I was shocked. "I blamed everyone but myself. So I don't care press charges against me I want to go to jail. I will never amount to anything anyway."

I still didn't know what to do. After leaving the room that Brock was in I started to walk down the hall when a woman who looked very frail called my name.

"Are you Sean?" the women asked me.

I nodded and said "Yes Ma'am."

"I am Brocks mother." She said. Oh great I thought. "I know what Brock did to you was wrong and he should be punished but Sean he is my son and I don't want to see his life ruined. It is my fault he is the way he is. His father was very abusive towards us and I should have taken Brock and left." She was crying now and I handed her a tissue. "If you don't press charges against him I promise I will take Brock and move away far away so you will never have to see him again."

"Ma'am I need you to answer me with all honesty." I turned to her and said "Do you think your son would do that to another person. I can't live with myself if I don't press charges and he hurts someone else."

The women thought for a minute and with all honesty said "He has never hurt anyone besides you ever. I don't think he will do it again. I hear him at night crying. I promise to move far away and put him in therapy and get him as much help as I can."

I thought real hard for a moment "Ma'am I want to talk to the detective and I want you there with me." She looked surprised and worried at the same time.

The detective came into the lobby and then took both of us to his office. I began talking. "Today I am faced with the hardest decision of my life. Should I press charges and send someone to jail or should I forgive him and let him live his life. His mother promised that she would get him help if I didn't press charges but what guarantee to I have if he actually commits to it." I continued now with more confidence I had than before. "Detective is there anyway Brock could get a deal or something where in order to get out of doing jail time he has to do mandatory counseling and community service?"

Brock's mother let out a sigh of relief but the detective cut in. "Mr. Williams we would have to talk to the DA and see if they are willing to do that but it might be a possibility." After than the frail women jumped up and hugged me and said thank you about hundred times.

Brock still had to remain in custody until the DA made a decision. After it was over I went out to the lobby to meet my family and friends. They all embraced me with a hug.

"Honey we heard what you did." My mother said to me. "We are so proud of you, your father and I must have done something right. You are the kindest hearted person I know and I am not just saying that because you are my son."

I blushed "Mom stop it. I just wanted to do what was right. It's nothing special."

"That is where you are wrong son it is something very special and rare to have someone forgive a person who almost killed them." My dad chimed in.

I was really impressed with Sean I do not think that I could have done what he did. I mean I am so angry at Brock and want to rearrange his face for what he did to Sean but yet the one that he hurt forgave him. Is that even possible?

After we all left the station I took Sean out to eat. I wanted to treat him to something nice for being so brave. Even though I know he was scared at first. He barely slept last night and I just held him trying to calm his nerves. I was so lucky to have a mom that allowed me to stay over at my boyfriend's house.

When we arrived at the restaurant I parked the car while Sean went in to get us some seats. After I was done and went in and found Sean he had already ordered for both of us. Was I really this predictable that he knew what I would eat? Thinking back, yes I am, I always order the same thing. I smiled and gave him a kiss on the cheek and he squeezed my hand. The waitress smiled at us and when we were done eating I gave a nice tip. It was nice to get a good waitress who always kept our needs intact and brought us new drinks when we were out.

I asked Sean if he wanted to hang out at my house for a while because my mom would be home and I wanted to spend some time with her. With the school year ending in about a month and everything else that has been going on we rarely get a chance to talk anymore. Of course Sean agreed and we headed over to my house. We stopped by and rented some movies in case mom wanted to watch them with us.

We I parked the car I saw that there was someone at my house and I was curious to see who it was because I have never seen the vehicle in our driveway before and it was a red ford truck. When I walked into the house my mom greeted us.

"Matt, Sean it is so wonderful to see you two." She said hugging us both. "I want you to meet a friend of mine." I saw a man about 5 feet and 9 inches standing behind here. He looked like he was built and had dark brown hair and a very nice trimmed beard.

"This is Rusty. Rusty this is Matt my son and his boyfriend Sean." She said to her friend.

I saw him smile and he had a beautiful smile "So nice to meet you boys. Matt your mother has told me so much about you. I have a son about your age and we just moved here about a month ago. He is having a bit of trouble at school making friends' maybe you could talk to him sometime?" The man said to me.

"Sure that wouldn't be a problem. He can hang out with our group if he feels comfortable enough." I said to the man and he gave a big smile and shook my hand saying thanks.

I was playing close attention to my mother and the ways she looked at Rusty and thought maybe they were more than friends but my mother never mentioned anything to me before about him but when it came to my mom's love life she was very private.

"Rusty is going to stay for dinner. I hope you two can join us." She said with excitement.

Sean smiled and said "Sure can. We came to spend time with one of my favorite moms in the world." Goodness Sean was such the charmer.

"Careful Sean you have a little brown on tour nose." I laughed joking with him.

Sean punched my shoulder "Shut up Matt! You're just jealous because your mom likes me better than you." Every started to laugh and then we headed into the dining room to get the table ready for supper.

We told Rusty since he was a guest to go sit in the living room and watch TV at first he started to argue and insist on helping us but eventually gave up. It was futile to argue with my mother. Sean was being his usual friendly self and going back and forth to talk to Rusty and ask him all kinds of questions. If he kept it up we would not have anything to talk about at dinner table while we eat.

After my mom prepared everything to eat we all sat at the table. At first the conversation was slow and kind of awkward but Rusty really gave an effort to be friendly.

"What do you do for a living Rusty?" I asked Rusty.

Rusty smiled and put down his fork "I am in construction. I work for a company that is based in Atlanta but they transferred me here. The pay is better and they provided me with a house so I couldn't pass that up."

"That is cool." Sean added. "What about your son? Was he upset to move so far from his friends?"

I heard Rusty give a chuckle and say "Austin is very shy and was happier than me to move. He hated his old school and I don't blame him. He was bullied a lot." His expression got a bit sad after that.

"Well Rusty you don't have to worry about Austin here. We are friends with the football team and we will all look after him. Here really the only people you have to worry about are the team bullying you but they got better over the last months and we are friends with most of them." Sean said smiling. It still amazed me how things had changed. Just a few months ago most of the guys on the team picked on Sean so bad but now we were all friendly with each other.

"Another reason I love it here already. It seems to be a good town from what I gather and also even though Austin is having trouble with making friends he has not complained about anyone bullying him." Rusty said getting somewhat happier than he was before.

We all talked for a couple of hours and I began to like Rusty and was hoping my mom and him were dating. It would be good for her to not be alone and have someone to talk to when I am not around. We also learned a lot about Rusty and he did not seem to mind that I am gay which was a plus was.

I was washing dishes when my mom came up behind me and gave me a hug "What did you think of Rusty?" She asked me.

"Mom he seems like a good guy. How long have you known him?" I asked her.

She smiled and said "Shortly after he moved here I met him in the grocery store he accidently knocked my cart over and then we started talking." She was beaming while telling the story. "Honey I am so glad you liked him. I was hoping you would. He asked me out on a date this Friday and I said yes."

I turned around and gave my mom the biggest hug "Mom I am so happy for you. Just make sure he treats you right or he will have me to deal with."

"You mean us." Sean said standing in the doorway of the kitchen smiling and then came over to join your hug.

Tonight was the night I was dreading. I had to go home and face my family. After weeks of not talking to them I was headed to my house to confront them. When I entered the house nothing had changed clothes were thrown everywhere and dishes where piled up.

I saw my mom on the couch lying down. "Mom where is everyone?"

"Well look what the cat dragged in." She hissed at me. "Your father is out at the bar and your brother is God knows where."

"Umm... mom I have something to talk to you about." I nervously said to her. She looked up at me with cold eyes. "What is it? Did you get suspended at school again? You are such a disappointment." She blurted out.

I had a mix of both anger and amusement, her calling me a disappointment when her and my fathers were drunks.

"I want to move out." I said expecting her to give an argument.

She laughed "Fine by me. Get all your stuff out before your father gets home. I doubt he will want to see you."

My heart sank I thought at least she would try to stop me but I was wrong they truly did not care about me. I had tears in my eyes and needed some help to get all my stuff out.

At first I wasn't sure who I should call but then I had an idea.

I dialed the number in my phone "Travis it's good to hear from you. How have you been?" The voice on the other end said.

"I need your help." I said with tears streaming down my face.

"Are you ok buddy? What is wrong?"

"Can you meet me at my house as soon as you can?" I said.

"Of course I will be there in a few minutes."
