Long Road Home
Trevor's POV:
Cameron made his way toward what I guessed was the kitchen with Cody in tow and a 'follow me' gesture that I did not argue with. Once I was in the kitchen, the spread of food that I saw before me was enough to feed a football team I thought.
"Yeah, Mom likes to cook when she is nervous." Justin answered my unasked question.
Eating with the three of them was a challenge as well as a joy. Justin kept shoving food down and Cameron kept trying to feed Cody while sneaking a bite for himself and trying to keep Cody from wearing most of his instead of eating it. Might I add the goofy faces that Justin made to Cody did nothing to help him keep the food in his mouth. To look at us right now it would seem that nothing had happened at all today I just hope that we can keep this level of happiness going.
Trevor's POV:
After dinner was over and the dishes loaded in the dishwasher, Cameron excused himself along with Cody for bath time. Which left me with Justin alone in the living room.
"I just wanted to say thank you again for allowing me to stay here with you all until the trial is over. I just don't know what I would have done without you," I stammered.
"You really should have contacted me before it got to this point. You know that I would have done anything that I could have to help you without this all happening," Justin reassured me.
"I now know that is true. Justin, you have to believe me when I say I never meant for any of this to happen to any of you. I thought you were just telling me that you would help me when I last saw you so that I would leave you alone. If I had only kept in touch with your mom, I would have been able to get the help I needed before all this happened," I slowly stressed.
"What a minute! You were keeping in touch with my mom? How did you manage to do that without me knowing? She never told me anything about you talking to her or writing to her." Justin questioned me.
"She would call from time to time and we would talk. She always told me that if anything ever came up to call her and she would be there to help in anyway. Lynn was there for me when my family wasn't. She sort of took me under her wing and helped me make it through my struggles," was my weak reply.
About that time, a wet nude giggling blur went running by me with Cameron on his heals a towel in his hand. The sight of this just made me giggle and well as Justin.
"You never know when our little streak will take a trip through the house in all his glory," Justin giggled out.
"Yeah. If only we could all be as free like Cody, I think the world would be in a better state of mind," I responded.
Justin's POV:
Having Trevor just tell me the things he did started to make sense as I thought about it mom always did seem to have a lot of business calls that never made any sense to me. She would talk about the plan and that everything was going well and never once said any names or locations other than Shady Shoals.
"Trevor does Shady Shoals mean anything to you?" I asked.
"Yeah. That's the rehab place I was in while I had my treatments. Why do you ask?" he responded.
"I just remembered mom talking about Shady Shoals a lot and could never understand what she was referring to. It all makes sense to me now. I'm just glad that we could save you from landing back in the system again, and I just want you to know we both are here for you." I told him as Cameron entered the room with a dry Cody wrapped in a huge towel with his head poking out.
"I agree with Justin. We are both here for you with everything that we have. All you have to do is just ask," Cameron told me while starting up the stairs with Cody in his arms.
"I think its time for bed. Follow me and I will show you your room so you can get some sleep. We all have had a long day today and could use the rest," Justin stated while we made our way up the same staircase. Cameron and Cody had just went up.
Trevor's POV:
Walking up these stairs, I really could feel the love coming from this family that has taken me under their wing to help me repair the damage that I have caused them. I could see the love in Cameron's eyes when he looked at Justin and Cody. It was so beautiful to behold. I was almost in tears. To think that I almost destroyed this really is something that I may never get over. Justin is right, though. We all really need our rest. Today has been so draining on me. I may just crash and worry about a bath tomorrow.
"Trevor, this is your room. There is a bathroom to the right of the closet and towels and extra clothes in the closet. Please help yourself to anything that you need. Our room is just across the hall from yours. Feel free to ask for anything you may need. Just knock and holler for us." Cameron told me while Justin made his way into their room.
"I don't know how to repay you for being so kind and understanding of everything that has happened. If the tables were turned, I don't know if I could have done what you have for a stranger." I stated while looking at my feet.
"Trevor, look at me. You're not a stranger, you're a friend, and I tend to make sure that your taken care of by all means. You were a huge part of Justin's life before and I am sure he would want you to be a part of it now. I know you may not feel that way now, but I will make sure you feel that way by tomorrow. That's my promise to you as a friend. Now go ahead and take a nice warm bath to rest your muscles and then head to bed. You'll feel a lot better if you can take a bath to relax before you hit the hay." Cameron told me while putting an arm over my shoulders and leading me into the bathroom and starting the water in the tub.
As he turned to leave me, I started to cry. I have never felt so much love from people as I have tonight. He could hear me I knew that, because he turned heel and surrounded me in a hug before I feel to the floor in a huge mess. While I cried myself out he just held me and kept running a hand down my head and shoulders. At some point, Justin came in the room looking for Cameron and turned off the water in the tub before it overflowed. He also joined in the hug that Cameron still had me in. They has this way about them that felt as though they were reading each others minds.
Then next thing I knew I had my bath over with and was in bed with the covers around me. Justin and Cameron had bathed me, changed my clothes, and put me to bed like they would have with Cody and I was in such a state of bliss, I was about to fall asleep. I thanked both of them before I finally let sleep take me.
Cameron's POV:
As we left the room and closed the door, Justin grabbed me in a bone crushing hug with tears in his eyes.
"He has lost his spirit. I can feel it. He feels there is nothing left to live for. We have got to help him and I think I know just what to do. I have to make a phone call before we hit the sack." Justin told me.
While I changed into my shorts and tank, Justin was on the phone talking in a hushed manor. I could only catch a few words here and there most of them were "Come on, I know you would love it. Please, I will owe you forever. Yeah, I know its late but you could make it here by ten. Yeah, I will set it all up. Ok, great," was all that I could catch. Figures Justin would pull out all the guns he has to help us all get this over with and to help Trevor with his problems that are just starting. After he put the phone back on the cradle, he took his pants off and slid his shirt off while I ogled him from the bed.
"If you like what you see, throw money!" Justin seductively told me.
"If I had enough money to throw, trust me I would be throwing for years and years. Now get over here in this bed and keep me warm." I whispered with a twinkle in my eyes.
As he climbed into bed I slowly scooted my head onto the pillow and allowed him to rest his head on my shoulder so I could look into his deep beautiful eyes. I gave him a kiss that I know left him speechless as well as made Lil' Justin quite happy as I could feel him on my thigh.
"Justin, I love you more and more everyday. Please never change," I gently whispered.
"I love you for you, Cameron. I could never change unless it was for the betterment of us," Justin gently replied.
I was sure Justin would want to let lil Justin out to play but he just sunk down into my shoulder and the pillow and closed his eyes to drift off to slumber. As I laid awake and thought of everything that has happened in the last 12 hours. If it had been me by myself I don't think I would have made it, but with the huge family I have been adopted into I am sure I could tackle anything.
Cody's POV:
I don't know what's going on here, but things seem really weird right now. I know that I can't really tell Daddy or Pappa what I'm thinking. I wish I could. It would be so much easier if I could say it like I think it. Trevor seems like he is really sad right now. I don't know why. Maybe he lost his teddy or blanket and needs help finding it. Or better yet, I can let him use mine. That way he wont feel so bad until he can find his cuz I have a bunch of them in my room.
As I climbed out of my bed, I grabbed one of my teddy bears and headed down the hall listening to see where Trevor was at. I know this door is Daddy and Pappa's so maybe this door his Trevor's. As I listen at the door, I can hear someone in there turning over in the bed so I push the door open and said "Hi".
"Well, what have we got here?" Trevor said as he turned on a lamp by the bed. "Cody, what are you doing out of bed? Do you need your Daddy?" he asked me.
"No, here you," I told him while holding up my teddy to him as I made my way over to the bed.
"You want me to keep your teddy company for you?" he asked while picking me up and setting me on the bed.
"No, you keep. Make smile." I told him as if he should have already known.
"Oh, you think teddy will help me to smile huh? Ok then me and teddy will hang out tonight while you, little man, need to head back to bed." Trevor told me as he took the teddy from my hands.
Much to his surprise, I climbed over to the other side of his bed and put my head on the pillow and closed my eyes. I wanted to keep him company cuz I know this big house can make you feel really alone when you go to bed for the first time.
"Ok then, little man, I guess the three of us you, teddy, and me will sleep in here then." Trevor whispered as he turned out the light and covered us all up.
Yeah, I know some people don't think us kids know what's going on, but we do and a lot of times want to help you grown ups out. So as I tried to sleep, I could feel Trevor gently lay his arm over my back and snuggle me and teddy closer to him.
