Lost Without Love
Chapter 6
"You're breaking up with me?" I asked.
"Look, I just feel like you're holding me back." Jason said flatly.
"What do you mean?"
"I don't want us to hide anymore. I want us to be able to show eachother how we feel, in public."
But you don't understand what it's to be me and how I feel about this." I said defensively.
"Well, I can't go on like this."
"You said you'd always be there for me no matter what. Thanks for letting me down. If this is what you want...then...goodbye Jason." With that said, I got out of there as fast as I could to keep him from seeing how upset I was.
As soon as I got home, I called the two most trusted friends I have. I needed to talk to someone.
"Hello?" I called Olivia first.
"Hey, chica. Can you put us on three-way with Damian?"
"Of course"
"Hey guys..."
"Hey bro, you okay?" Damian asked curiously.
I didn't even think about lying to them.
"No, I'm not. Jason dumped me." And the floodgates have been opened.
"Oh my god, why?" Olivia asked in disbelief.
"Because I'm not ready to come out to everyone yet."
"That bastard" Damian said through gritted teeth.
"It's alright though. I'm through with him. If he can't respect how I feel, then he isn't worth it."
"Are you sure man?"
"Yeah I am. Actually, not completely. I don't know. Well, I need some sleep, so I'm going to take a nap. I'll talk to you both later. Love ya's"
"Alright, love ya too" They both said in unison.
So after I hung up, I started to make my way to my room when our landline rang.
"Hello?...Oh hey aunt Sharon...She what?...Okay, yeah. I'll be there tomorrow. Yeah, I love you too. Bye."
The one thing I have been dreading for the last three months. I can't believe it. My grandmother passed away. The one person who I felt that understood me better than anyone else. She's gone. ~We're going to switch gears here for a while and give Jason's point of view.~
It's been about two weeks since I broke up with Johnny. To tell you the truth, it's been the worst two weeks of my life. I feel like a complete and utter asshole for dumping him. Especially for why I did it. Since then I haven't seen him in school. Which was strange because he's never miss more than three days at the most. So at lunch I went to see his best friends Damian and Olivia. I can already tell they don't like me but it's worth a shot. I think I've made the biggest mistake in my life and I am out to make things right.
So at lunch, I see Damian and Olivia sitting at their usual spot. I hesitantly make my way over.
"Hey Olivia, hey Damian..." I said nervously.
"What do you want?" Damian said giving me one of the evilest looks I've seen.
"Do you know why Johnny hasn't been in school for so long?"
"What's it to you?" Olivia asked coldly.
"Look, I know you both are mad at me and possibly hate me, and that is totally understandable. But I wanna talk to Johnny and make things right. I messed up big time."
"Jason, we don't know if we can trust you. Heck, we don't know if Johnny can even trust you." Damian said.
"Damian's right." Said Olivia.
"I know. But I want to prove to you and Johnny that I am truly sorry. I really want Johnny back and I am willing to do whatever it takes."
"Alright. He's been out...because his grandmother passed away the day you guys broke up. The funeral was last Friday. He's just taking some extra time off at home to clear his head." Olivia explained sadly.
"Man...are you serious? I told him I'd always be there...and I let him down. Is he at home right now?" I asked as I started to get up.
"Yeah, why, where are you going?" Damian asked.
"To get my man back." And that was all that was said before I headed out of the cafeteria.
I arrived at Johnny's ten minutes later. His car was there so he must be home.
I nervously made my way to his doorstep. I rang the doorbell and anxiously waited...
"Hi" I said nervously when he opened the door.
"Hi...what are you doing here?" He asked.
"Can we talk?"
"Sure...come on in"
We made our way to the couch in his living room and sat down. Things were sort of awkward since we have seen or spoken to eachother in two weeks. I decided to start.
"Olivia and Damian told me what happened. I'm very sorry." I said sincerely.
"They did? Thanks. I'm ok, I guess. How are you?"
"To tell you the truth, I've felt like shit these past two weeks."
"Why?" Johnny looked sort of confused.
"I think you know why." I said sadly.
"Oh...yeah."
"I'm sorry. I was an asshole. I didn't show enough respect for how you felt. I shouldn't rush you with something you're uncomfortable with."
"I know. It hurt, it hurt me more than I can describe. But the thing is...I haven't stopped thinking about you and kind of hoping you'd come back." A small smile crept on to his face. `God, he's so cute, how could I've been so stupid and let him go?' I thought to myself.
"Really?" I felt myself blush.
"Really"
"I made a mistake, Johnny. I want to make things right. Will you take me back?" I asked nervously.
"I don't know Jason-" He cut me off.
"Please Johnny. Just give me one more chance. Please." He looked so pitiful. How could I say no to that? "Alright." He said caving in.
"Yes!" I was completely ecstatic.
After a while of just sitting back and catching up. I stumbled on to a touchy subject.
"So...how are you holding up?" I asked cautiously.
"What do you mean?" He asked looking a little confused.
"About your grandma.."
"Oh...I'm ok, I guess. I'm still upset about losing her." I could already tell he was tearing up. ~Back to Johnny's POV~
I know it may seem like I'm making a mistake by taking Jason back. But I think we can honestly work things out and get things back to the way they were. I just hope things stay like that...
The next day things seemed okay at school until the bell rang for lunch. I was heading to my locker when I saw Jason and his asshole friend Mitch standing by his. `Oh great' I thought to myself. I decided to stay behind the corner and listen for a little while.
"So, still hanging out with the fag?" Mitch said.
"Dude, stop calling him that." Jason said sternly. I couldn't help but smile.
"Whoa, why are you defending him?" Mitch asked, confused.
"He's really a cool guy once you get to know him. You're just not giving him much of a chance." I could tell Jason was starting to get mad.
"Dude, chill." Mitch shot back.
"You know what, just back off." Was all Jason said and slammed his locker shut and walked off.
I saw him coming towards the corner where I was but he saw me before I could move away.
"Oh..hey, you heard that?" He asked.
"Yeah." I said with a smile.
"So, you going to lunch with anyone?"
"I am now."
We decided to go to McDonald's for lunch. We just made small talk as we ate. Once it was time to get back to school, I stood up and asked,
"So...are you doing anything after school?" I asked casually.
"Yeah, I actually have football practice until 5. We're getting ready for our final home game. " He said as a matter of factly.
"Oh..." I said glumly.
"What did you have in mind?"
"I was hoping we could spend the afternoon together."
"Oh, well if you're not doing anything, maybe you can stay and watch me practice." He said with a sly smile."
"Hmm..Maybe I will." I said with a giggle.
"Alright, I'll see you later." He said. But then as I was about to leave, he swung me around and gave me a small peck on the lips. Not caring who was around.
"Umm...yeah...later." I was so flustered and giddy.
So I was going to watch Jason at his best. I was really excited. But I had something eating at me in the back of my mind. I was having second thoughts on telling people about me...about us. I was thinking that I was actually ready. Maybe I am...
