Austin then stared in silence at the cypress covered bayou. Then he looked at Ronnie and said, "Man, this is great. I think I could sleep out here every night".

Ronnie said, "I know what you mean. I've slept out here many times." But he was thinking ' no, I want you sleeping in my bed with me'.

They spent a few more minutes of silently looking around at the bayou scenery. Then Ronnie said, "let's go back up and I'll show you the house after we take in the beer and groceries."

Austin turned and laughingly said, " Oh yeah! I had forgotten about that. All this makes me just forget about everything. But, yeah, I'm ready for a beer. And to start celebrating my birthday. I'm so glad that we met. This is gonna be so much fun".

This chapter is dedicated to Max's love of his life and all of the wonderful memories. If only we could all be so blessed to share a life of love such as theirs.

Love is Real chapter 3

They turned toward the house and began making their way back up to the top deck. As they were walking, Austin was looking all around at the porch then said "man, this porch with the covered deck and the other decks and steps must have cost some serious cash".

"Well, it wasn't cheap, but I only had to pay for the materials. I did all the designing and construction myself. I'm actually very proud of the fact that no hand other than my own touched any this during the construction. Of course, it took awhile to finish it, and at times I thought I really needed help, and it would have been convenient, but I always figured out a way to do it myself with only two hands."

"No shit? Damn, I'm impressed. I don't think i could ever do anything like that". And Austin truly was impressed.

"Oh no? Well hang around with me for awhile, and I'll teach you some things you'll never forget".

"Really? Is that like an invitation?"

"If you want it to be it is. I like you, and we seem to get along pretty well together. So, yeah, your welcome to come by whenever you like". Ronnie did indeed like Austin...and for more than just his looks and his body. He could envision the two of them becoming really close friends and sharing many wonderful times togther.

"Thanks, I'd like that. And I like you, too. And you can count on me taking you up on that offer. Besides, I might teach you a few things also." He said that while giving Ronnie a very sly and sexy look.

Ronnie's dick was chubbing up from that statement.

Austin had all sorts of thoughts going through his head. He liked Ronnie the first momemt he looked in Ronnie's eyes and touched his hand. He had felt a connection, a spark of some kind. And, now, he is thinking they could really be close friends. His dick was stirring while thinking these thoughts.

Austin had always admired other hot guys. And he just assumed it was a natural admiration for those who possessed a certain look or mannerism about them. The way they carried themselves. But he never really thought much more than that about it. He had gone on plenty dates with girls, but it never seemed to go beyond the first date. He had just always thought, for whatever reason, there was no connection with any particular girl. He really hadn't thought too much about it. He just figured that he hadn't met the right girl yet.

But, now, with Ronnie, he was feeling a connection that he had never felt with any of his friends or dates. He never had any sexual thoughts towards any of his friends. Sure, he and his buddies had jacked off together a few times as kids. But he never felt anything about it or them.

So now, here he is, with his dick stirring from just spending time with Ronnie, and he is thinking 'Does that make me gay or whatever? I don't think I'm gay. I've never had any gay thoughts or desires. But damn, Ronnie is making me wonder about this feeling I'm having for him'.

As they exited the porch, Ronnie broke Austin's thoughts by tapping on the his arm and whispering"Look...check it out", and pointed over at the water by his flat bottom aluminum boat. "It's a Great Blue Heron." They stopped to watch. "I see 'em here alot. There're really cool to watch." They stood there silently watching a few moments. They saw the heron slowly lowering his head and then very quickly plunged his head in the water, beak first. Then it quickly pulled its head back out with small fish dangling from its beak. It then maneuvered the fish between its beak a little bit, swallowed the fish and the gulped it down its long skinny neck.

Austin turned to look at Ronnie saying, "man, that was wild! So cool", He was looking at Ronnie with amazement in his eyes.

"Yeah, the first time I saw it happen I was amazed also."

Then apparently the heron saw or heard them, and it flapped its really long wings and flew down the bayou.

They both looked at each other grinning wide. They each seemed to have a moment after they stopped grinning. They shook it off and started walking towards front.

As they walked around the end of the house towards Ronnie's truck, Austin said, "man you are so lucky to live here and be able to see things like that."

"Yes I am. But I firmly believe that we make our own luck 90 percent of the time. Both good and bad luck."

"Hmm, I never thought of it like that. But I bet your right."

"Of course I'm right. I'm always right," Ronnie said grinning, "except for when I'm wrong".

Austin laughed as he pushed Ronnie on the shoulder, making him studder step sideways a lttle bit. And Ronnie was laughing also.

When they reached Ronnie's truck, Austin continued on to his car, got his 6 pack, then went and helped Ronnie with his grocery bags.

They took off back towards to porch with Ronnie saying, " I can't believe I forgot to unload the beer. The beer was the main reason I went to the store".

"I know, me too. Hell, it was the only reason I went to the store."

"We need to put these in the fridge for a bit before we start on 'em. But I have a couple left in there already."

They went up onto the porch, up the steps to the house and Austin followed Ronnie into the house, down short hallway, through the living room and then on in to the kitchen/dining room.

Austin had been looking around as he followed Ronnie. He noticed the cleaniness and the nice furnishings, not necessarily expensive, but nice. He was impressed. And happy that Ronnie took care of what he had. He thought about Ronnie being only a couple years older than himself, and yet Ronnie was way ahead in life compared to him. After all, he was still in college and still lived with his parents....in the same room he's had since the 6th grade. He said to himself, 'Im gonna have to ask him about that".

Ronnie took Austin's and his beer and put it in the fridge. "Make yourself comfortable while i put away my stuff. Want a beer?"

Austin pulled out a chair from the dining table and sat down where he could watch Ronnie and casually look around and said, "Nah, but thanks. I'll wait on mine to get cold. I want my first beer since turning 21 to be the one that I purchased for the first time." He was showing his 1000 watt smile after he said it.

Ronnie laughed. "I can certainly understand and appreciate that. I definitely remember my first time. It was at a Tool concert in Dallas. And I got wasted. Good thing I took a cab to the concert from the hotel. Joints were being passed to me constantly. Back then I smoked alot of weed."

As Ronnie was saying that, Austin got up headed to tbe fridge. He opened it up, took one of his beers from his 6 pack and put it in the ice container in the freezer

Ronnie noticed that. "Smart." Austin looked at him a smiled. Then Ronnie continued to put away the things from the store.

Austin walked into the living room and looked around. The living room was open to the kitchen, so they could still see each other. He inspected the cd rack by the stereo to see what kinda music Ronnie liked. He saw alot of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppellin, Waylon Jennings, Sound Garden, Tool, Bush's 'Sixteen Stone', and alot of other cds that he recognized and liked.

He said, "You have good taste in music. I like this kinda music too...the classics. Waylon Jennings I don't recognize. Is he country?"

"Yeah, pretty much. But a different kind of country. Much more radical than basic country music. He is my favorite of all time. He basically changed country music in the 70's . Everybody followed his lead and changed from wearing sequined suits to blue jeans and the music became more rockish. He was definitely a force of change. Plus, his music is kicksss."

Austin pulled out one the Waylon cds and looked a it. "He looks like a real badass."

"He was."

"We'll have to listen to him sometime." As soon as Austin said that he realized what he was implying. That he would be here again. Enough times so that listening to music would be an activity that they would share. He gave Ronnie his 1000 watt smile, yet again.

"Sure. But I usually listen to music in the truck. Or when I'm cleaning the house." Ronnie knew the implications of what he and Austin just said. That they would share many more times toghter. He smiled also. He returned his own 1000 watt smile.

"Wanna grab a beer and go sit out by the bayou?"

"Absolutely!!!

They each got their beer and took off for the lower deck. As they were walking down the decks and steps, Austin said, "It really blows my mind that you built all this by yourself".

"Well, I've worked on a lot of building projects in my time. And besides, I'm stubborn as hell. Once I make up my mind to do something, I won't quit."

They reached the lower level.

"So, let's open up these beers and begin the celebration of your birthday."

"Hell yeah!!"

They both opened their beer and took a big swig. "Ahhhh", they both said at the same time.

Austin said, "Cheers to us, the bayou and me turning 21."

"Cheers"'. Then they tapped their beers together and took another swig.

They sat down on the deck with their legs hanging off of the edge. They both sat there quietly as they took in the beauty of their surroundings.

"Oh", Austin said. "I'm curious about something, if you don't mind me asking".

"Ask away."

"How, at your age, have you been able to obtain a place like this? I mean, at 21, I haven't got sqwat. And yet, you have all this."

"My age? How old do you think I am?"

"I dunno. I just figured your'e a few years older than me, 24 or 25 maybe."

Ronnie let out a chuckle. "I'm 32."

"Really? No shit?"

"No shit".

Silence.

More silence.

They were both thinking.

RONNIE

Well, I hope this isn't the beginning of the end. Eleven years is alot. Not unheard of though. Twenty years, now that's approaching forbidden territory. And we seem to have so much in common. I sure hope he doesn't freak out.

AUSTIN

Damn, I never would have guessed that. Eleven years. Huh. That's not so bad. And we have so much in common. He sure doesn't look 32. I don't think it matters anyway. I like him.

"Well?". Ronnie broke the silence.

Austin grinned. "Damn, I never would have guessed that. Eleven years difference. That's not so bad. Plus, we have so much in common, and you sure as hell don't look 32. And, really, I don't think it matters anyway. I like you. I like you alot." Austin looked down at that last statement. He wasn't even sure why he said that, or how Ronnie would feel about it. He was just speaking his feelings.

Ronnie was already looking down past his feet. Then he looked over at Austin and said, "I like you alot too."

They both looked down at water, processing everything.

Austin raised his head up to look at Ronnie and said, "so, how 'bout that boat ride", breaking the tense moment.

Ronnie was relieved. "I'm ready if your ready."

"I'm as ready as I'll ever be."

They both let out a hardy laugh.

They got up and headed back up to the top deck. Ronnie said, "let me grab another rod and reel in case we decide to do some fishing. My stuff is already in the boat....You do have a fishing license, don't you?"

"Well, duh, I am a fisherman. So, of course I have a license."

"Ok, just checking. The game wardens are really strict out here. There are lots of tourist and visitors on the river on weekends, so the game wardens are always on patrol and checking. Not so much on the bayou. Thank goodness. But I'm thinking we'll go to the river and we can take a little tour."

"That sounds cool. But just so you know, I've been fishing on this river many times. I know how it is."

"Oh yeah, I wasn't thinking. In that case then, we can just stay on my bayou, if that's all right with you. That way we won't have to deal with all the big bass boats, barges and ski boats. And it is so much more peaceful and quiet."

"Works for me."

So, Ronnie grabbed another rod and reel and they headed to the boat where it sat in an inlet about 30 ft. from the bayou. They got in the boat with Ronnie in the front where the trolling motor is located. He grabbed the paddle and started rowing the boat to the bayou. He stopped rowing and suddenly shouted "FUCK!"

"What's wrong?" Austin asked a little bit shaken.

"We forgot the damn beer again."

They looked at each other and started laughing. Finally, after they quit laughing Austin asked, "Why is it that we keep forgetting the beer?"

"I don't know. Beats the hell out of me."

But actually, they both knew why they kept forgetting about the beer. It was because they were so into each other that they couldn't think much about anything else.

So, Ronnie paddled the boat back, got out, and pulled it up the bank a little to hold it.

Austin got out, and Ronnie said, "let's grab the cooler from the storage building". They did. They went back in the house, put their beer in and covered it with ice from the freezer.

Once, again, they were in the boat and paddling to the bayou. Just before they entered the bayou, Ronnie laid the paddle across the metal bench seats and let the trolling motor down. Ronnie looked back at Austin and said, "I only use the outboard motor once we're in deeper water where we won't be worried about stumps. But since, we're staying on the bayou, I'll just use the trolling motor."

They each took a beer from the cooler and headed down the bayou.`

Soon, they reached an area where the moss covered cypress trees were really close together, creating a shallow spot. Just before reaching it, Ron nie pulled up the trolling motor, grabbed the long paddle and push from the bottom, guiding them through the shallows amongst the trees. He was very profecient at this.

Austin was again impressed. Ronnie was an expert at this, obviously having done it so many times. He looked at the timing and coordination, which was perfect. He also looked at the fexing muscles in Ronnie's shoulders, back and arms, which were perfect. His legs were taught from the effort to balance himself as he pushed with the paddle. And his ASS. OMG!! In those shorts, they were like muscle mounds... Damn, that is so gay. But i can't help what he makes me feel and think. SHIT!! SHIT!!
