Chapter 71 March Stephenson Maxieplus. When New Year's Eve arrived, March was armed and ready. Jason and May came around for dinner and Mason played with the sparklers, then his cousin. We watched the preamble to the night on TV and the kids were placed in their beds when their eyes drooped. I could hear some firecrackers and kids laughing in the distance, but nothing major. They left around eleven to secure a good view and March and I settled in to keep watching the festivities on the TV. He fell asleep and I watched it on my own. Rosie was no trouble at all, she slept through the night like an angel. It was a different night from what I had been used to, going to a club and counting down the new year while dancing the night away. I helped him get into bed, he moaned that he had missed it all, I told him to watch the replay in the morning with Mason. If I had known he would do that, I would have gone to bed earlier. I heard Jason and May come in, they checked the kids out and then went to bed. Unfortunately, Jason is a little eager when he makes love, and I wished it was me not May he was loving tonight. I did feel a little lonely. We convinced them in the morning that she didn't miss them at all. I don't know what they were expecting maybe a full-on baby spit. They also said half the surrounding towns were up at the lookout, the fireworks were far away but they could see them clearly in the night sky. I told them that March went to sleep and I watched it alone, the thing that bothered me the most was the fact I had little interest in it this year. It was a typical public holiday nothing much was open and no one stirred. The traffic was down to a trickle but the supermarket was busy. I only needed a few things but March insisted he came with me. I usually do a snatch and grab then get out of the place. He wanted to look in all the aisles and talk to friends he would run into on the way. Mason grabbed at everything that was at his level and my trolley seemed to have filled up. I will give him this one but I doubt I will ever use the half dozen kitchen utensils that were on sale. We ran into Mark, he was almost jumping up and down in anticipation. "Lance is teaching me loads of stuff Nicky, I can't wait to sink my teeth into the new job. Everyone here is so jealous I landed it. I will miss them, but I am looking forward to the future." "Well, let's hope it's successful and you stay there for many years to come." I smiled, and I knew dad would succeed, he has the Midas touch. Lily lit some fairy sparklers and Rose and him sat to watch, the kids up the road lit a fire but it was well policed by Joel and Michelle, he was telling me. "Is Rose babysitting today?" "Yes Nicky, she's a godsend but when I start working at the other shop I will find someone more permanent. Dianne's mum has offered to take her and I am still thinking about it." "She's a real looker Mark." He blushed. "We get along good, in another life I would have made a move on her." "Why another life, why not now?" "I have a past, she hasn't, and I guess she has heard the rumours about me. I get embarrassed when I'm around her and a little tongue-tied." "She's perfect for you, a new job, and a new start in the love department. Word on the street is she's a bit smitten with you." "I haven't heard that one." "Open your eyes Mark, the past is just that, the past. She's right in front of you and the perfect woman to start again with." I looked over at my husband, he had gathered up a small crowd of ladies who were talking to him about the calendar, they all have one and it's permanently opened at our month. "I had better rescue my husband before he ends up in a stranger's bedroom." I giggled. Hopefully, Mark will think long and hard about Dianne. I doubt working together will be an obstetrical I work alongside March and it's the perfect situation for us. I made him pay for the groceries because it was mostly his stuff, and then we went to the cafe to have a coffee. Mum was there but no food except pies and hot dogs. I made coffee and March ordered the pies. She said that dad was in the workshop doing one of the cars he couldn't stand thinking they were just sitting there and needing his attention. March sent him a message to come and have coffee and he poked his head out then came over. "Why are you working dad?" "I thought I could get one of the cars out of the way today. There's not much to do at home." "I could have done both," March said. "You could have, but I miss the garage." "Dad you aren't even having a holiday, I told you to take a couple of weeks off." "I get bored son, I will spend this afternoon picking Dianne's brain." "You don't mind if Mark and her like each other?" "I'm counting on it son, they will be good together and I am hoping to get a little information out of her today on how she feels about him." He grinned. "Why the interest?" I asked. "No interest but I have my instructions." "Rose or mum?" "Both." He laughed. "I suppose I should start on the other car then." "No need March they aren't urgent, it's just that I had some time on my hands so I started." "I was planning a day at home, maybe get stuck into the garage renovation." "Then do that, I will be finished soon and will leave the other one for you." "Don't forget we have to do a trip to the city," I said. "Yes, the day after tomorrow Nicky, did you make an appointment?" "Not yet, but I can do it in the morning." "Good." I knew he wasn't looking forward to going into town but it has to be done. Mum came out with her coffee in hand, I think she's bored and will once again close up early. Mason had been playing with Sunny under the table, he was also bored. In some ways his play school is good for him, I think he misses his friends. We sat in the sun and a few people went into the gym I guess trying to work off their Christmas puddings. I thought we might as well go back home, so I talked to the guys and they said they would call me if there were any dramas. March was more than eager to help me put the groceries away, he's putting off working on the garage. I made more coffee and we sat on the porch watching Mason play with his farm friends. "This is nice Nicky." "It is March, I like it when we are alone." "So do I immensely, lift your legs here." He tapped his knees, I did his bidding and he started rubbing my ankles, I knew exactly where this was going as his hands got higher and higher. "Nicky, do you think we will stay at the hotel when we go there?" "No, I want to come home, we can go there some other time." "Good, because I like it here." "Me too." "Are you bored with life in the hills?" "Not at all March, I am quite used to it now and I sometimes wonder why I didn't do this years ago." "It would have been good to have you around back then." "I would have chased you all over town." "I would have chased you too." "A bit higher March." He moved his hands up under my shorts and I opened my legs wider. His mouth was most welcomed and March Stephenson was an old pro when it comes to gay sex, his skills have improved since my arrival. I made some lunch while he rested on the sofa, I think I have worn him out again, he's got that dreamy look on his face. We ate and he argued with his son, the negotiations for a real horse were in progress. "It's too small here for a horse baby." "Not!" "Hank won't like it." "Will!" "Let me think about it then." "Tomorrow daddy?" "What do you think Nicky?" "He may get trampled," "So we don't allow it then." "Don't bring me into it, but if you want my opinion I would worry too much. I love horses but I also think they can be dangerous around excitable toddlers." "I had one at his age." "Your mum and dad would have worried also, and I bet you weren't allowed to ride it without them being with you." "Good point, and yes I wasn't allowed to ride on my own." We distracted Mason by taking him out to the garage, he helped his dad clean up a bit and I watched March's ass. Why would he even think I wouldn't like it up here, it's the best place on earth as far as I am concerned. The current views alone are awesome. I made the appointment with the lawyer and told March It was in two days early in the morning, so we could get it done and get back here. I will get mum to take Mason with her and he can sit with his aunty until we get back. March said he wanted to call into Shannons and have a look at the cars. I accused him of wanting to see that salesman with the nice ass again. I got a good telling off from him, that was the last thing on his mind, and I should have more faith in him. The small argument landed us in bed having make-up sex, and I devoured my awesome view of his tight ass. The question of March ever trying to bottom never came up, it was assumed he didn't want to try it, I never asked or attempted to go there. He did say one day he would let me but he was having too much fun with mine to even think about it. Dad's meeting with Dianne went well, he was passed the information he had requested and found out that she has always had a soft spot for Mark and Lily, but she was always cautious. Because she also knew he had been hurt by his wife and didn't want to intrude. We will all try to fix that, and dad said they will be spending more time together as the following weeks appear. Ron was back to work, the concrete had been ordered for today and I will stay home so our son can watch it being poured. We set aside a spot so we three could place our hand prints in it, along with Sunny's paws. The trip to the city was frustrating because I drove and he navigated all the way. When we arrived he apologised and I said he could sit in the back on our way home. He started laughing and reminded me that he liked to play in my crotch area on the way home. I was satisfied with that excuse and opened the car door to go inside. Martin was ready for us and we signed plenty of paperwork. March was happy with the arrangement and Martin handed out the copies. We will read them carefully when we have time, so now we have a company, and life is good. We didn't go to Shannons, I think he thinks I will accuse him of touching up the salesman, so he said he just wanted to go on home. He can see what cars are coming up for auction online anyway, and apart from an awesome butt that salesman wasn't that pretty. When we arrived back we sat at the cafe and he held my hand, Mason was pleased to see us and started telling us about his morning. "Did you go to Shannon's March?" Dad asked. "I didn't want to go in the end, I can look at the cars on the internet anyway." Now I feel guilty and had better watch what I say in the future. "Both cars are done March, the second one was easy." "Dad I told you I would do it." "Well, I had nothing to do, so I did it. Anyway, we have three coming in tomorrow, you can do them." He smiled. Over the next week, the town suddenly became busy. People were returning from their holidays and going back to work. Mason's play school opened and he was happy to see his friends again. March worked on the three cars and I divided my time between the gym and museum. I wanted to find more information on his grandparents if it existed. Jan and Michelle were doing a great job. They also handed me a folder they had put together. "This might need your eagle eye on it Nicky. Be careful they are fragile." Jan grinned. It wasn't his grandparent's records it was something else entirely when I got to reading and photographing it all. I did all this at work, I had plenty of time to get it all sorted out in my head. On the third day, I took a walk up behind May's cafe and into the gully. Yes, it's all true, I could see some cobblestones and what looked like foundations. I sat at the computer every chance I had and found the relevant information I needed. The council meeting was looming and I was armed and ready for anything. With all this happening around us Ron had finished the framing and had lifted the roof of the garage to fit in a guest/ storage room. Rose's bathroom had been finished and she was almost a non-starter for any other work, although she did sit with us occasionally but she was also tired, the baby was taking its toll on her. I dressed nicely and kissed my husband and son goodbye, my first meeting was on and I needed to look at least professional. March gave me a word of advice he told me to keep it all low-key, he had no idea what I had been doing for the past week or so. May picked me up and tried to calm me down. "Don't take it so seriously Nicky, you already know what we will be talking about and there shouldn't be anything else." "Well March did say I should be professional, it's the Stephenson name I am representing after all." I stifled my laugh. "We are all represented very nicely Nicky, as you well know." She smiled. She pulled into the car park and I grabbed my folders. Straightening my shoulders we walked into the council chambers. It was a shock at first, just about everyone I knew was there. They had all come to sit in on the meeting and to see how well I performed the first time, I think. It was a public meeting because Brenda believed the locals should have a voice if they had any objections. She opened the meeting and we got down to some serious work. The first item was the safety barriers and zebra crossing. They all looked at me and I sunk back into my over-padded chair. "Any thoughts councillor Stephenson?" She asked me. "No, I think it's all been covered, but there is a sticking point, where do we place it and who do we get for a lolly pop person to see the kids across the road?" "It goes across where the new ice cream shop is, that way all those new shops will be serviced equally." I didn't think she was being pushy, but I did get a glimpse of Brenda's evil smile, I think she likes May. "Good, just asking that's all." "Next, what has March done about the illegal parking outside of the school?" "He's started a company up, it's all done now and he will offer land space to the supermarket and the hotel, which should ease the parking situation. He will lease the land out to the relevant businesses." "Thank you for bringing us up to date councillor." "Next is a woman who wants to sue the council for applying a demolition order to her property. Although the house is almost falling apart, she insists it can be repaired given more time." "Your call councillor Stephenson," May said. "Give her a six-month extension, we would like to avoid any lawsuits where possible." "Done, all in agreement raise your hands." They all did and Annie gets her extension. "Next item is fund raising, has anyone got any suggestions?" They all looked at me. Joel and Nudge were enjoying this, I heard more than one snigger coming from their seats. "We solicit the government for grants, and as much as we can. The preservation of the surrounding bushland is paramount, and I believe there's money available to any council that helps preserve our forestry." "But we don't own it." Joel grinned. "No, we don't. I think a generous deal can be struck with the owners, and the government forestry commission can lease that land from them, and when it's leased the forestry commission will begin to upkeep and enhance a very unique ecosystem. By enhancing I mean looking after it and everything within its boundaries. The land almost surrounds the town, we get funding for public fire and safety, and road access upgrades, it will bring more jobs into the community." The room went silent for a few seconds then the clapping started. Brenda had to settle it all down. "How do we ever begin this mammoth task?" She again looked at me. I opened the folder and took out a contract, I passed it over to her and said. "We start with this contract it is for the forest acreage, the Victorian government has already shown its interest in leasing the land, not the clearing, that will stay in private hands. If it's agreed to tonight I will get March to sign it on behalf of the town, this is his gift to you all. I will then send a copy off to the relevant departments for funds to oversee it and everything that pertains to it. This other paperwork is for you all to read, it involves the division of money expected and how it's going to be spent, in this town, for our town." I passed each council member a copy. "The rates and outgoings will be paid by the government and they will include them in their estimations and if this goes the way I think it will, this council will have money to burn. It is increased every year so we won't have to fundraise from the locals, we use the government." "So we don't pay anything to look out for the forest and maybe the town in turn?" "Correct, but you do pay March Stephenson's company an amount for him not to develop his land. It's all in the paperwork." "I hope you are right Nicky, this is huge for this town," Joel said. "I am confident everyone will be happy to go along with my plan. And there's something else I need to address. I have already started making inquiries to have the town rezoned as historical, thanks to Nudge's very clever wife Jan and Joel's lovely wife Michelle." "What historical status councillor Stephenson?" It is now that I hit them with a double whammy. "This town has hidden secrets, and by the look of the paperwork I have read from the museum, it should have been reclassified years ago. The clever ladies have found significant documents that go back to the early settlers' time, and that gully we all love so much is very important. This letter is for the Australian historical restoration department inviting archaeologists here to look for old stone cottages that were built along it. We are talking alongside Melbourne settlement " "I never knew that, what a fabulous find." Brenda was wide awake now. "Well it's up to the government, but I am not talking thousands of dollars but a few million does come to mind. The town will be placed on the historical town register and any works and improvements are done by the state government. Please look it all over I will need your answers as soon as possible." I also stood up and bowed then said. "My next performance will be at our next meeting. What was that you said about fundraising Mrs Mayor?" The uproar in the chambers was deafening, and I saw my husband had appeared. I waved and smiled at him because they were applauding him also. He couldn't help himself, but it also wasn't his fault, he was pushed towards the podium, and then he had to go and do it. He jumped up grabbed me and we both bowed then he gave me a smacker on the lips the town folk will never forget, even though I was blushing. "So much for keeping all this low-key March Stephenson." "Sorry Nicky but when you're in the room there is no one else around." He moaned, then restarted the kissing thing, to the applause of many women who seemed to be shouting. "Take it off, take it off." Brenda was the loudest voice I heard. "I will have your answers now councillors, those who agree to go ahead with both of Nicky's plans raise your hands." She yelled. They all lifted their arms and it was agreed that I go ahead. There was a kind of party in the council chambers that night, and I was to party into the early hours with my gorgeous husband. He had no shame as he sat on my face while I worked on him. We slept well and although it was a late night I sort of felt complete in the morning. I pulled my shorts on and then went to organise our son. I looked through the historic paperwork and all the members had signed it, so I will post it today. I know the diggers won't disturb the gully too much, and I also know when I went searching I did see the outline of old buildings by the water. I did find out that flooding was a problem in the end, so the town was moved to higher ground, and our old shops were some of the first in the state country area to be erected. I didn't want to have March's forests dug up so I had kept the town and them separate, but the town will be overseeing it, hopefully. If anyone wants to look at it they will have to get the council's permission, so the properties are completely safe for the future. When the works are started that will bring in loads more jobs for the locals, and maybe, just maybe, we will start on the local logging industry closing down. None of this would have been possible without March, and Jan's input, this town has much to thank them for. It was all over the local page and some film of March sticking his tongue down my throat, wait until he sees that he won't have me out of bed all day. I left the letters on the table with envelopes and stamps, I wanted him to look them over and sign the land one, after all, he's the smart one. He came out to find coffee and the first thing I did was dive my hand into his shorts, he yelped as I grabbed a handful of semi-hard dick. I kissed him then told him to sit down and look the paperwork over. He told me I did a wonderful thing for our town, and he was so pleased that his forest was safe. "You didn't get my point last night did you, and by the way you are doing a wonderful thing by leasing the land out?" "I had been thinking about it for ages. What point?" "The best part of the whole deal is the government will pay for the lease of your land, no more council rates and more money in your pocket for doing absolutely nothing." "Our land Nicky." "Okay, our land, what I didn't tell them was how much that lease will cost them. It will be in our main contract, this is just the interim one" "I won't charge much Nicky, it's all dead land as far as any new estates are concerned, they won't be able to build on it." "And?" "And what?" "No building or logging on any of those sites, and you get a shitload of money from the government each year for the lease." "I wasn't going to charge them, looking after it is my priority." "They expect to pay something March, how much they pay is to be decided on, but how about we ask that lovely estate agent to put a nice price on it all?" "He smiled then he did his thing again and kissed me, I again played in his shorts and was desperate to wet his knob. "So May got what she wanted with the crossing and we got what we wanted with the land. You are so clever Nicky, I would never have worked all that out." "There is one other thing March." "What?" "I put your name down for the candy man crossing job." "You did not, you're just being mean and awful to me again." "Got it in one March Stephenson, come on I need to wet my lips." I took him back to the bedroom where I had my devilishly wicked way with him. The town was buzzing when we got to work, my gym was almost full and there were cars for March to work on being unloaded from a semi. Brenda was sitting outside the cafe and when I went across, she stood up and hugged me, saying thank you over and over. "Did they ring you?" "Who?" "The other Mayors?" "Not yet Nicky, but I expect when the word gets out they will be wanting more information." "They won't get a historical rating my friend, this is all for our town." "Tell me?" "When Melbourne was settled, some eager farmers from England decided that these hills would be perfect to raise cattle on, so they moved on here with their families. They built the cottages by the river and then started up the first rural farming areas. We have the gully, they have nothing, and if they think they can ride on our shirttails, they can forget it, unless they find a site of their very own. My sources tell me there is only the gully within a hundred miles from here. The next oldest one is in Melbourne." "So we don't have to share anything with them?" "Nope, it's all ours to do what we see fit with, and it's government-backed." She sat heavily and I handed her some envelopes. "Can you do the honours and post these on your way back to the chambers?" "It would be my greatest pleasure." "And when March arrives tell him he's been elected to do the crossing job." "Don't push it, counsellor, no way am I going to say that to him." "How sad, it looks like I will have to talk to May then." We both laughed. "We can put an ad on the local page for that one, and I believe it comes under the government umbrella, so no outgoings again. How the hell did you ever even know about the settlement?" "The day we went to photograph Lily and Mark in the gully, I noticed the cobblestones and though there may have been a dock or something there, Jan and Michelle found some paperwork in the old school building attic. Those shops across the road were the first built after Melbourne got some, so they will be classified. The rest was internet investigating, it was mentioned but never followed up. This is going to place us on the map and history will be rewritten." "It never entered my mind we had hidden treasures here, but I must admit I didn't go looking for them." "Well, I did, and found a real gem." "Do you think they will go for it?" "They already have shown a lot of interest, but If they don't go ahead, then we get the media in and we still call in the archeologists." I smiled. She sat back and stared at me for some time as I sipped my coffee. "You're not running for Mayor are you?" She ordered. "I am not running for Mayor, I promise." "Good, and thank you." "March is." I started laughing my head off, May came out with bubs and she was handed to Brenda, and then she sat and smiled. "What's so funny?" "March is running for Mayor." "No, he's not, I am." May smiled, Brenda almost farted she was in fits of laughter. "Ha hardy ha, you nearly had me then May Atkins. You got your crossing where you wanted it, now cease-fire." "Just a little joke Mayor, and there's no way March will run either, he likes you too much." "About time you Stephensons woke up to yourselves." I couldn't stop laughing, it's been a big week and now I'm having a good day. It was even better when March came to sit with us, he couldn't stop touching me much to Brenda's delight. She had to go and do some work, so she took my letters to post and said she would register and prioritise them. I told March he had to go see Valma the real estate agent so she could work on a price for the lease and a price for the supermarket and hotel. I suggested he place it all into her hands then he won't have to worry about chasing rent money. "It will all be looked after and in turn, all you have to do is sit back and count your money. In other words, do cars and look out for your family." "That's what I like the best Nicky, and thank you once again. I have never known a person like you before." He kissed me, the onlookers clapping started and he said. "As I said, when you're with me there are no others around." I felt very special and almost headed for the shed, but he wanted food and a play with his niece. After we ate he walked up to the estate agent's office and I went to do some more investigating. Although the shops came later there were a few cottages on the main road built after the gully was abandoned. I will have to go and see if I can find any evidence of them being there. If nothing it will be a pleasant walk but if that map Jan found is correct nothing has been built over the old sites. My son slept as I read page after page and when March came back he told me Valma had it all in hand and she would ring me sometime tomorrow. The guys in the gym were very interested and that gave me another idea, a treasure hunt. I started writing something up and chose a date then I walked up to the council chambers. "A family treasure hunt, the prizes will come later, but I have chosen a date and instead of us trying to find these relics we get the kids to do it." "You have shaken my town up councillor, what a brilliant idea." "I have a map, but it's old, and the town has changed so it will be a big task to find anything if it still exists. Dozens of kids running around will turn up something, who doesn't like a treasure hunt." "Get onto it, the sooner we find something the better. When the archaeologists arrive we will have something else for them to do." "Hopefully there's nothing under the town hall, but if I'm right the cottages will be on the vacant land at the back of the old shops." "March's land?" "Yes, something he has to consider for the future, leave them or highlight them and do tours. The only obstacle is the government will own the lease, but March won't allow any tourist operation." "He should leave them alone then." "I will get him to think about it if that happens." I grinned. "You do that, my friend, he takes ages." She giggled. I was very happy with myself and almost walking on air when I crossed the road, the traffic was becoming constant again, and people had returned from their holidays. That crossing can't come soon enough and a few speed humps will add to the safety of Main Street. I arrived back to dad being under a car, and March instructing our boy how to do brakes. I kissed them both and told March about the treasure hunt, and I warned him his land may have some relics on it. "Good, I will have a note placed in the lease that no one can go near them." "Or you can start up that tour company." "Or you can, you seem to have plenty of time on your hands lately." "No time for all that councillor, I am a bit mentally exhausted at the moment." "You had better go home and rest." "I could, and you could come with me." "I have cars to do." "Oh, so you have. I guess I will be going to play on my own then." I went into the gym and started collecting my things, I won't leave Mase here he will only get in the way. I kissed my man goodbye and he moaned that he was too busy to come with me. I wiggled my ass at him as I took Mase and Sunny to the car, it won't take him long to catch up. Autumn is coming and my jeans and tops will be back soon, so he had better enjoy the view while he can. It took him an hour to come through the front door, I had just put Mase in his bed for a nap. I was attacked from behind and landed face down in our bed with this gorgeous hunk I knew on top of me.
