Marnie

The twilight of evening flowed through the window. Marnie Remeck, lost in deep thought, stared out the window. Another year come and gone. Where did the time go? Thinking back, thinking of her accomplishments, she had attained many of the goals she had set for herself. She had a comfortable life style. Money had been wisely put aside to where it was no longer a major concern. Tenure at the college had been attained. If not comradeship at least she had the respect of her fellow teachers. And yet, something was missing. Try as she might she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Was it family? She had been raised at an orphanage and had no idea who her parents were. Or cared. Always being able to take care of herself, Marnie had been the picture of self reliance. But now she found a gnawing, a yearning, that was disrupting her normal, well structured life. Shaking her head, she turned back to the desk, covered with end term reports. Burying herself in the paperwork necessary to keep tabs of the two hundred plus students, she forced herself to concentrate.

Sandra Johnson packed her bags for the trip home. As usual she had too much to pack and too little bag. The end of the school year had brought mixed emotions. To be home again brought a huge smile to her face. Then thinking of all the friends and teachers at school she would miss, a sadness. Thinking of not seeing Ms. Remeck, her acting instructor, for months, was the worse part. They had, over the school year, become very good friends. Sandra adored Ms. Remeck. So much so she tried exra hard in her acting classes. And it showed as she had risen to the top of the class and was considered the best of the class, even by her jealous student rivals.

The car pulled into the dormitory parking area. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson alighted. Both in casual wear, not knowing what they would have to carry, they ascended to stairway to Sandra's dorm room. Hugs and kisses and then a steady up/down of the stairway to the car ensued. Luckily Sandra had shipped her largest items and all her remaining luggage fit in the trunk and luggage rack. As they pulled from the parking area Sandra saw the light coming from her acting instructor's office. Asking her father to stop, Sandra rushed from vehicle. Knocking before opening the door Sandra entered the office. Raising her head Marnie gave a cheery 'hello' and a smile to her best student of the term. Sandra, as usual, started talking a mile a minute. The gist of her babble seemed to be she wanted Marnie to come and say hello to her parents. Rising from the desk Marnie followed Sandra to the car. Having met the Johnson's before, school funtions and such, Marnie once again shook hands with both parents. Marnie noticed immediatly the strong family resemblance. Mrs. Johnson was an older replica of Sandra. A little heavier, but other than that almost an exact replica. Except for the eyes. Sandra had Mr. Johnson's eyes. A beautiful family. Once again the emptiness enveloped her. Asking what the summer had in store for her, Marnie replied she had no plans. Evidently, the loneliness must have shown through as all three Johnson's insisted she visit with them. Marnie after some minor reluctances, agreed. Giving Marnie directions, the Johnson's once again started thier trek home.

The closing of the school had taken no little time. And afterwards Marnie was still unsure what to do with her summer. Thinking 'why not' Marnie retrieved the directions to the Johnson's. The train ride to the Johnson's was uneventful. The passing countryside, being away from paperwork, all made Marnie feel better about her decision.

The Johnson's met Marnie at the station. All three in casual wear, Marnie couldn't help but notice the closeness the family shared. A dropping feeling in the pit of her stomach made her have second thoughts about her decision. 'Too late to back out now' was the thought running through her mind. 'Oh well, she would make this visit as short as possible'. On the ride to the house the Johnson's tried thier best to allay any reluctance's Marnie had. 'They seem to be able to read my mind' thought Marnie.

The house was set in a family orientated neighborhood. A pretty two story with a well maintained lawn. As Marnie unpacked in the spare bedroom on the second floor, her mind began to play with the thought where she was coming home for school summer vacation, and she was the Johnson's only daughter. Just the thought of being protected and cared for as Sandra had been created a warm feeling in her being. How wonderful it was. Shaking these thoughts from her mind she thought 'I must be going crazy', and continued her unpacking.

Returning downstairs, Marnie found the Johnson clan busy with thier everyday lives. Sandra was saying she was heading downtown to meet some friends and wanted Marnie to join her. Mrs. Johnson, who now insisted Marnie call her Patty, wanted Marnie to join her with the shopping. Only Mr. Johnson, now Bob, remained quiet. Knowing she would have a hard time keeping up with Sandra after the trip Marnie opted to join Patty. Mr. Johnson, Bob, seemed to be able to read her thoughts and with a grin and a wink at her, left the room. Once again, Marnie thought, these people can read me like an open book.

After dropping Sandra off where she wanted, Patty kept a running conversation. Pointing out this building and that park, trying her best to make Marnie feel at home. And it worked. Marnie began to feel much more relaxed and even joined Patty in a laugh about the small town square. The emptiness Marnie had felt when first seeing the Johnson's at the station was being replaced by a fondness for the entire family. Marnie was now glad she had made the decision to visit the Johnson's.

That evening, after dinner, a game of cards was suggested. Marnie, saying she rarely played cards was eventually induced to play. The dinner table was cleared and in no time a game was in progress. The after dinner glow and a feeling of contentment filled Marnie. Sandra, after playing a few hands, begged off to join her friends, leaving just the three adults. Marnie, after some time, began to understand the game they were playing. As the evening wore on it became apparent it would be a battle between Marnie and Bob. Marnie felt a pity for Patty, as the logistics of the game seemed to elude her. Eventually, Patty throwing down her hand for the millionth time, said she was retiring, leaving Bob and Marnie in a dual to the end. Marnie's competitive spirit leaped to the forefront and it was nip and tuck until Bob narrowly came out as winner.

As Marnie crawled beneath the sheets of her bed, a warm feeling pulsated through her body. To say she had fallen in love with the Johnson family would not have been an understatment. Wishing with all her being that they were the family she had never had, Marnie slipped into sleep.

The next morning as Marnie descended the stairs she found only Patty. Sandra was off with her friends and Bob had left for his business. Patty had her breakfast warming on the stove. The warm glow once again creeped into Marnie. After breakfast and some small talk Marnie insisted she would do the dishes. Patty, after finally agreeing, started her daily cleaning. Finishing up, Marnie found herself alone, Patty upstairs doing her housework. Ascending the stairs, the sound of the vacum cleaner filled her ears. At the landing Marnie saw Patty busily running the vacum cleaner back and forth in Sandra's room. Entering her own room, Marnie looked at herself in the dresser mirror. What a fright her hair was. Sitting at the dresser Marnie began to brush her hair with vigorous strokes. Hearing 'that's not the way to brush your hair', Marnie saw Patty's reflection in the doorway through the mirror. Patty proceeded into the room and taking the brush from Marnie's hand, she turned Marnie to face the mirror. With a 'sit still' Patty began gently brushing Marnie's hair. To Marnie it was heaven. Closing her eye's, a small sigh escaped her lips, as the dream of her being protected and cared for as Sandra had been once again manifested itself. 'Sit up straight' came from Patty, as Marnie, without realizing it had slumped back against Patty. 'Yes ma'am' came from Marnie's lips. 'That's a good girl' was Patty's reply, as she continued brushing. Neither one realizing the mother/daughter role they had slipped into.

For Patty it was like having her young daughter back again. Sandra, after starting college, seemed to have no time for her mother. Try as she might, Patty found herself playing second fiddle to all Sandra's friends and activities. The thought of Sandra leaving completely, frightened her to death. Sandra had been her main point in life since she was born. To have that closeness for nineteen years and then see it slowly disappear was torture.

Finally, Patty shook herself. As if from a dream, Patty began to realize her surroundings. 'What in the world?' Patty wondered as she looked at the brush in her hand and then at the mirror, which showed Marnie with her eye's closed and a contented smle on her lips. Patty shook herself again. Thinking back she could remember brushing Sandra's hair at the same dresser. She must have been daydreaming, she thought. But what a beautiful daydream it had been. And 'what's wrong with a little daydreaming?' she thought. Patty once again began lovingly brushing Marnie's hair, The contented smile on her own lips matching that of Marnie's. Marnie had hardly been aware of the pause. Both women were lost in thier own world of dreams.

The sound of the front door opening and closing brought them both from thier reverie. With much noise Sandra announced her return. Both women jumped with embarrassment. Patty mumbling something about 'that should be enough' replaced the brush on the dresser. Marnie, startled, stood up abruptly. Both tried to make small, both talking at the same time. Patty, everntually winning, announced she was going downstairs.

Marnie, sat at the dresser, was trying to sort out her feelings. While Patty had been brushing her hair, she had somehow slipped into a dream world from which she had had no desire to leave. What was wrong with her? She had never been this way. Her whole life had been planned and ordered. She wouldn't allow it to be otherwise. Never had she felt less self assured.

The day passed with a uneasiness between Patty and Marnie. Both women seemed embarrassed by what had occured. Eventually, Marnie righted herself and feeling in charge of the situaton, tried to make amends. Finding Patty alone in the kitchen Marnie approached. 'I'm sorry if I embarrassed you. I didn't mean to' Marnie apoligized. Patty turned to her. 'Embarrassed? It wasn't embarrassment. But thank you for thinking enough of me to offer an apology'. 'If I didn't embarrass you why are you upset with me?' was Marnie's question. Laying the towel down Patty sat at the kitchen table, her gesture asking Marnie to sit also. 'Marnie, since my daughter started college she seems to have little, if any, time for me. Once we were like sister's and now I'm like a forgotten cousin. Brushing your hair brought back all those wonderful memories when I would spend hours brushing Sandra's hair'. And then after a pause Patty continued, 'Now, I'm not smart enough for her, or maybe too old'. The last was said with almost a sob. Covering Patty's hand with her own Marnie looked at Patty. Patty, eyes on the table, felt too embarrassed to meet Marnie's eyes. 'I think you are a wonderful Mother. Sandra is becoming an adult. You must see that. It is a normal way of life. Sooner or later the offspring leave the nest and fly on thier own'. Marnie could see that Patty was almost in tears. Standing and moving behind Patty in the chair, Marnie leaned down and hugged Patty. The two women remained in this position for some moments. A noise from the dinning room brought them back to the present and, releasing Patty, Marnie stood back as Patty arose. 'Thank you, Marnie' was all Patty said, as both women returned to the dinning room.

The evening passed and once again Marnie slipped beneath the sheets. This time her mind was thinking of Patty.

The sound of the front door closing awoke Marnie to bright sunshine. After rising and doing her normal morning hygene, she descended the stairs. The house was silent except for the sound of activity in the kitchen. Arriving at the kitchen Marnie found Patty busy with the dishes. 'Sit down. I have your breakfast warming' said Patty as she turned from the sink. Patty looked radiant this morning ad Marnie told her so. Blushing prettily, Patty thanked her. Small talk ensued. After breakfast Marnie once again offered to do the kitchen chores. Patty, with a smile, said she hadn't finished the upstairs yesterday, and with a wink, headed to the stairs. Marnie, more than a little confused by Patty's behavior, attended the kitchen chores. Once finished, she too headed for the stairs. As she hasitated at the foot of the stairs, she couldn't shake the feeling that this seemed to be some type of replay. Shaking her head as if to clear it, she slowly ascended the stairs. She found Patty vacuming Sandra's room, just as she had yesterday. Trancelike, passing through her bedroom door, she approached the dresser. Sitting, she reached for the brush. She had barely lifted the brush to her hair when she saw Patty's reflection at the doorway. Marnie hadn't heard the vacum cleaner stop. She hadn't heard Patty enter. Her senses had seemed to have taken leave of her. 'Everthing is so silent' was the only thought Marnie had. Without a word Patty proceeded to the dresser. Taking the brush from Marnie's unresisting hand she began to brush Marnie's hair. Brushing Marnie's hair, Patty began an almost coo'ing sound. Marnie felt her eyes become heavy and the warmth once again seeping into her. Leaning back, she could feel the softness of Patty's body. Marnie had never felt so warm and happy. The Madonna smile once again returned to her lips. Patty, with a contented sigh, continued her gentle brushing.

The feeling pulsating through Patty was almost sexual. Seeing Marnie in the mirror, eyes closed with that beautiful, contented smile, Patty couldn't help thinking how beautiful she looked. Just as Sandra had looked all those years. It had been so long since she had had someone she could confide in, someone close to her, female to female. Of course she had Bob, but Bob didn't fill the female to female contact she had had with Sandra. Sandra. Just the thought of Sandra leaving her to go out on her own brought a tear to her eye.

Marnie, realizing Patty had stopped brushing, opened her eyes to see a tear rolling down Patty's cheek. Marnie arose, and taking a crying Patty, enveloped her in her arms. Patty had by now a steady stream of tears running down her cheek. Patty buried her face in Marnie's chest as Marnie rocked her back and forth. Speaking low, words tumbled from Marnie's lips, none of which she could later remember. Marnie felt the sobs eminating from Patty begin to lessen. 'Oh Marnie, I'm so sorry. I seemed to have gotten tears all over your blouse' was the first words from Patty's mouth. Holding Patty away from her Marnie could see the tear streaked face. Looking down she could see the wetness on her blouse. Unable to hold back, Marnie began to giggle. Patty, seeing Marnie giggling like a schoolgirl, couldn't help but smile. Then the smile turned to a giggle also. Both women began laughing. The tension and sadness flew from the room as both laughed till thier sides hurt. Finally the laughter subsided. Patty, wiping her eyes, stood before Marnie. Marnie wasn't sure who initiated it, but suddenly both women locked in an embrace. Patty, raising her head to a taller Marnie, kissed Marnie on the lips. Marnie felt her head swirl as she enthusiastically returned the kiss. Marnie, unable to and really not wanting to separate, continued the embrace. The kissing, which at first had been just a kiss on the lips, became more passionate.

Patty was the first to break the embrace. Wiping a the wetness from her eyes, Patty looked adoringly at Marnie. Marnie returned the look. Both women unsure of what to say, said nothing. Then Patty, with a sigh, once again embraced Marnie. 'Thank you, Marnie' was all she said. Marnie held her and felt the warm glow. 'Patty, I'll be here for you always'. Looking up, Patty pecked Marnie on the lips, and unfolding Marnie's arms, left the room.

After Patty had left Marnie tried to understand what had just happened. Marnie found her thoughts confused, all seemed to be wrapped around Patty. The feeling's she had for Patty knew no bounds.

Patty seemed radiant that evening at the dinner table. Even Bob remarked how 'perky' she was. With a smile and wink at Marnie Patty said she felt much better than she had been. Marnie's concentration eluded her during, what had now become, the evening card game. She continually found her mind wondering back to the afternoon with Patty. Whenever thier eyes met Patty would give her a smile and Marnie would feel herself blush like a schoolgirl. Finally the evening was over. Marnie, alone in her room, could only wonder at the confusion that had enveloped her. Slipping beneath the sheets she was almost instantly asleep. Her dreams were all of Patty.

Waiting until she heard Bob's usual snoring Patty slipped from the bedroom. Opening Marnie's bedroom door Patty saw Marnie's shape lying on the bed. Slipping beneath the sheets Patty snuggled against Marnie's back. Marnie, slowly awakening, found, to her happiness, Patty snuggled against her. Turning, Marnie embraced her, seeking Patty's lips with her own. Patty, a deep sigh escaping her, returned Marnie's kiss. Neither woman had ever experienced this type of female bonding before. All Patty knew was she felt wonderful when she was in Marnie's arms, and Marnie felt complete and content when she was holding Patty. After the kiss both women lay in eachother's arms. 'This is silly' said Patty. 'Totally' was Marnie's reply. Then both giggled like schoolgirls.

Talking like school girls each told the other stories of thier life from childhood and adulthood. The brightening of the sky seen through the window warned them of the impending morning. Marnie, for the first time, could make out Patty's face and breasts through her slip. Patty, seeing Marnie 's gaze, giggled.

Both lying on thier side, face to face, a heat began to build in Marnie. It was Marnie that initiated the first sexual contact. Not having been with another woman before, but knowing from school stories, Marnie began exploring Patty's body beneath the slip. Patty whispered, with a giggle, 'stop that'. Pushing Patty onto her back, Marnie forced herself onto her. Patty. startled, tried to resist. A quiet 'Nooo' coming from her lips. Marnie covered Patty's mouth with her own. Forcing her tongue into Patty's mouth, a long, deep kiss ensued. As the kiss continued, Marnie fondled Patty's breasts. Feeling the nipples rise to the occasion, Marnie broke the kiss to lower her head to the nipple beneath the slip. 'Ahhhh, I don't think we should be doing this' whispered Patty. Patty had lit a fire in Marnie that was now uncontrollable. Slowly, through her ministrations, she transferred the fire to Patty. Marnie, being on top, had forced Patty's legs apart with her knee. Now, lying on top, her mouth to Patty's breast, she began a slight undulation. As Marnie came in contact with Patty's womanhood Marnie felt a shock race through her entire body. Marnie realized Patty must have felt it too as she seemed to almost jump. Patty's movemments to resist enhanced the pleasurable feeling racing through both females. To Patty's chagrin she couldn't seem to stop herself. Her own body seemed to have a mind of it's own. Her movement to free herself instead became a rythmic grinding into Marnie. Marnie, forcing her womanhood against Patty's again and again, found herself lost in lust. Patty, her slip, now above her waist, the only thing covering her womanhood were her panties. Her breast, now out of the slip top, was covered with Marnie's saliva. Patty felt herself fall into the pit of passion. Raising herself to each of Marnie's thrusts, both were lost in a common goal for climax. The sighing and grunting were anything but ladylike. Patty felt the orgasm build throug her being. A final thrust and then, holding her hips up to Marnie's, Patty climaxed. The knowledge that Patty was climaxing brought Marnie to her own.

Both women lay without movement for some time afterwards. Marnie pressed her lips to Patty's. Patty, perspiring, locked her arms around Marnie's head and shoulders, and returned a full, passionate kiss. As Patty returned her kiss Marnie could feel the heat rise within her again. This time Patty offered no resistance to Marnie's lovemaking.

Afterwards they lay side by side exhausted. Patty turned to Marnie. 'I've never experienced anything like that'. 'Neither have I. That was wonderful' was Marnie's reply. Patty, slipping from the bed, said 'I must get back to Bob before he wakes up'. Leaning down and giving Marnie one last kiss, 'thank you' once again came from Patty's lips. Then she was gone.

Marnie returned to the college some weeks later. Her trysts with Patty had become a daily venture. Her final week with the Johnson's had been heaven. Mr. Johnson was off on a business trip and Sandra had stayed at friends. Patty and Marnie spent the week locked in eachothers arms. Marnie, being more worldly, had, with all her being, made sapphic love to Patty. Eventually, there was no 'off bounds' to thier lovemaking.

Now, Marnie was back at the college. Another school year was about to begin. Already missing Patty, she was once again at her office window, lost in thought. The warmth she had felt with the Johnson's, the love she felt for Patty, brought the Madonna smile again to her lips. To say she missed them would have been an understatment, but she would always have her memories.

A knock at her office door brought her back to the present. 'Enter'. At first she thought she must be dreaming. There was Patty coming through the door. Stunned and then unable to control herself she flung herself around Patty. After some uncontrollable hugging, kissing and giggling, Patty explained: 'I've come to get Sandra settled in for the year. I told Bob I might just stay here for week or two. Bob said I wouldn't have a place to stay but I told him I'd find somewhere'. 'Would you have a place for me to lie my weary head?'. Marnie's happiness exceeded all bounds. This was better than anything that had ever happened to her before or would ever happen again. Gazing lovingly at Patty, Marnie felt the emptiness within her being filled with love and pasion. Finally, Marnie knew true happiness.
