The following story is fiction based on some fact and my wishes for things that "could/might have been" if the world worked like my hopeful mind. It will eventually include sexual relations between young men. Some characters and events are based on fact but the names, places and circumstances have been changed for obvious reasons. If you're not old enough to be reading this for WHATEVER reason, please leave now. If you are plenty old enough, please continue on and let me know what you think of my first ever submission to the Nifty Archives.
Author's note: I know this is a short chapter, but I wanted to get something out there. I'm having some trouble writing this story right now. I've recently found out that the young man that Jack is based on, has gotten married and I'm an emotional wreck right now. I'm dealing with it and will eventually move on and be back to my old self. :) Thanks again for reading and send me an email telling me what you think. (address is below)
Mason and Jack Chapter 3
"I'm going to tell him we're together," was Jack's reply.
"Are you sure you're ready for that, Jack?"
"Yes. I've talked to him about it already. Didn't mention any names, but I told him how I was feeling and he said he understood. He'll support me in any choice I ever make. My mom, I'm not so sure of, but I need someone to know and he's the logical choice," he said, looking me in the eyes and taking my hands in his.
"Ok. If that's what you want to do, baby. I'll be with you, 110 percent," I said as I leaned forward for a milk and cereal flavored kiss.
We finished breakfast; I took a shower and chose a nice outfit to wear to Jack's dad's house. I had to make a good impression.
Getting in the car I asked Jack, "Are you ready for this, Sweets?"
"As ready as I'll ever be."
I pulled out of the driveway and reached for Jack's hand and held it the entire drive. Pulling into his dad's driveway I could feel him tensing up a little. I stopped before we were in view of the house and turned to him. As I lifted our hands he looked at me and I kissed the back of his hand. "I'm here with you, Jack. Whatever the outcome, we'll always be together."
"I know. This is just a very stressful situation and I'm not sure how to handle it yet."
I leaned in and kissed him with as much conviction as I could. "We'll be fine."
"I like that."
"Like what?" I asked.
"'We', not you' or I'. I like the sound of `us'. I want to be with you the rest of my life, Mason." And a solitary tear fell from his eye.
I wiped the tear away and gave him a peck. "I'll always be here for you, no matter what."
I put the car in drive again and drove up to the house. Parking in front of the garage we looked at each other again and I squeezed Jack's hand and proceeded to get out of the car. I let him lead the way into the house. He called for his dad and we heard him say he was in his study. We went in and Jack closed the door, not knowing whether his stepmother was home or not.
"Hey dad," Jack said. I could here the tension and doubt in his voice. Jack's dad, John, hadn't looked up from his computer yet, so I put my hand on the small of Jack's back and applied a little pressure to assure him I was there.
"Hey Jack," John said, finally turning around and looking at us. "Hello Mason. Thank you so much for bringing Jack all the way out here. Can I give you some gas money?"
"It's no problem, John, and no I don't need any gas money. But thank you."
"Dad, we need to talk," Jack said, turning his head towards me a little and when our eyes met his lips flinched towards a smile, ever so slightly.
"What's up Jack?" John asked giving him his undevided attention.
"Do you remember the conversation we had a couple months ago?"
"Of course. Mason, could you give us a moment please?" John asked turning towards me.
"NO!" Jack blurted out, shocking both John and I. "I mean, no, Mason can stay."
"Alright then, what do you need to talk about, Jack?"
"Well dad, you remember how I told you I was having romantic feelings for another guy? That guy is Mason." As Jack said my name he took half a step back to be standing even with me and he slid his hand around the small of my back and rested his hand on my hip. My hand, which was still on his back, naturally did the same.
"I see," John said, looking between Jack and I. I saw his eyes flash to each of our hands several times. "Hmmmm...well, as long as you're happy, Jack, I don't have a problem with it. Is he good to you?"
"He's the best Dad," Jack said looking to me for a moment before looking back at his dad. I felt Jack squeeze me a little tighter after he had said it. I smiled.
"I'll never intentionally hurt him," I said, squeezing Jack just a little closer to me.
"I don't doubt that. Not at all, Mason. I can see how you guys feel about each other. I'm sure those feelings have been there for a long time. It was only a matter of time before they surfaced."
"So you're ok with me being in love with Mason?" Jack asked, pulling away from me slightly. I knew what was going to happen, so I didn't protest.
"Of course I am, Jack. I told you the last time we talked about this that I didn't have a problem with you being gay. You're my son and I'll ALWAYS love you. No matter what."
Jack launched himself at his dad, giving him one of the most loving father/son hugs I'd ever seen. I felt my eyes fill with water and couldn't help but let them go. John saw this and stepped towards me with Jack still in his arms. Taking me into the embrace as well he said, "It's ok Mason. It's going to be ok." I hugged them both very tightly, not wanting to let go. I felt Jack start to turn around and focus his hug on me and John took that as his cue to leave the room.
I pulled back and looked Jack in the eyes, "I told you it'd be ok." I gave him a loving kiss.
"I knew it would be ok, too. But having you here made it so much easier. Thank you."
I kissed him again. "I'll be here for you always."
Jack's stepmom wasn't home, so Jack, John and I talked for several hours and when I left, they both walked me to the door. Before I could say good bye, John said, "This cannot get to your mother, Jack. She'll go absolutely nuts when she finds out. She's not very open minded about this kind of thing and until I can get some things changed, I don't want her to know. Is that ok with you boys?"
I completely understood, so I said, "Of course. I don't even know how I'm going to tell my mom, yet. I'll get the courage some day, I'm sure."
"We'll work on that, Mason," John told me placing his hand on my shoulder. We both realized then that Jack hadn't said anything yet and we both looked to him, hurt was written all over his face.
"What's wrong Jack?" I asked, moving towards him.
"I don't want her to ever find out. I've heard some of the things she's said about gays. I can't believe I never thought about what would happen if she found out. Dad, what am I going to do?" he pleaded with his father.
"We'll worry about it later, but not today, Jack. You two just have to be careful who you tell and how you act in public. It would be worse if she found out indirectly, trust me. We'll talk about it more, but Mason needs to get home now."
"Ok. Thanks Dad," Jack said.
"That's what dads are for Jack," John said, ruffling Jack's hair and turning to me. "Drive home safely and if you need anything, call me. I'll see you soon I'm sure."
"Good bye, John," I said. After I hugged him he left the foyer so Jack and I could say out good bye.
"I love you, Mason. Thank you so much for being here with me today," he said as he embraced me and rested his head on my shoulder.
I wrapped my arms around his body and held him, saying, "Of course Baby. I'm not going anywhere."
