Meeting Love: Chapter 1
Well, I'm finally going to do it. I know what was I thinking, this is the craziest thing I have ever done. I am not adventurous, I am not confident, yet I am going to be meeting the man that I have been talking to for over a year online. I know what some of you are thinking. How do you know that this guy is normal, and that he hasn't been lying to me for all this time? And yes, I know that this is possible, but I know one thing that is true. He works for a singing group, a large and very famous one of which I still do not know the name. One that will be arriving at the hotel I work for in less that one hour.
It was about three months ago when James told me that his organization was looking for a different hotel to stay in when they came to Boston. The group was tired of the large, fancy hotels that all the fans would camp out at. They wanted a smaller hotel off the beaten path, and knowing that I was in the industry, asked me for my opinion.
James5479: Come on HR, you need to help me. I need info on getting a hotel where the guys won't get mobbed at. It would be 35 rooms for 6 nights at the end of December, wouldn't your sales department love those kinds of numbers, and we're willing to pay regular prices.
HRtalks: I've told you how we always hurt in the winter time. But how do I know this is for real?
James5479: The only thing you can do is trust me, I would think that by now you would.
HRtalks: I do trust you, but I don't want to screw up my job, I love working at the hotel.
James5479: I know you do. Why would I want to ruin that for you? Just trust me with the name of the hotel, and who we should call, and we'll see how it goes.
So I gave him the name and telephone number of my Director of Sales, Terrence. And prayed. Obviously it worked out. Terrence was more than happy to sell an entire floor of the hotel for almost a week. Due to the celebrity status of the group only Terrence knows who they really are.
So anyway back to the here and now. While I am sitting at my desk, pretending to do work, I should probably explain who I am. My name is Heath Riley, but most people call me HR. I am the reservation manager at a hotel in Boston, and I am addicted to the internet. I love talking to people, just not in person. I am one of the shyest people you will ever meet, I know ironic huh? I make my living by talking to people, and once I am out of the office, I cannot pick up a phone. My friends all have to call me. Weird, I know.
As the seconds ticked by, I was getting more and more nervous. I knew that I wouldn't be seeing James right away, because he was coming on one of the crew busses that were arriving after the celebrity bus. I just hoped that he would arrive before I had to leave for the day. I wanted to meet him as an employee of the hotel, not as an online friend. I knew that if I was in work mode that I would be able to do so without freaking out. My employee and really close friend Tribora knew how crazy I was going in my head. She kept trying to bring me back to reality, by telling me jokes or asking questions about work related things.
It was now 10 minutes before our VIP's were due to arrive. I printed out an official rooming list (all code names of course) and had the key packets ready. I ran to the restroom to double check that my hair was spiked just the way I like it, brushed my teeth, adjusted my shirt and tie and I was ready to meet the tour manager at the front door. Terrence came downstairs from his office to do the greeting with me.
"Terrence, are you going to tell me who the group is yet, or are you going to keep me in suspense?" I asked as we made our way to the front vestibule.
"HR, all I can say is that you are going to freak out when you meet these guys. I know that they are one of your favorite groups and we both know they are bringing you a surprise. Just remember to stay professional." He answered.
"It's no surprise; I am finally going to me my online friend. And you should know me better than that, I am always professional. This is not the first time that we've had celebrities here before."
"True, but it is the first time they have been a big as `NSYNC." He said with a grin.
"No shit, really?"
"Yeah. So you better keep your cool. I know all about you giant crush on JC."
"It's only a celebrity crush, I have tons of those. A guy can dream, right? I mean you have a girl at home, but I know how much you crush on Mia Hamm."
"True, true. Look, here come the busses."
I looked up the street and there they were six full size touring busses. They practically took up the whole road. Wait a second, six? All the busses were coming at the same time? That wasn't supposed to be happening. They were supposed to be staggering their arrival so that they didn't attract too much attention.
"Hey Terrence, what's going on? All the busses are here." The words stumbled out of my mouth.
"That's part of the surprise. We all knew how nervous you would be if we dragged this out, so some of the staff members and I worked it out so that you would be able to spend some time this afternoon with your friend James, before he has to fulfill his other obligations." I wanted to scream, this was so unfair. I wasn't ready. But all I could think of was I would finally get to see what James looked like, I would get to hear his voice in person. He and I had many a conversation about actually talking on the phone. He knew how uncomfortable I was with it, so he didn't call me often, but every once in a while, I would get a call. We didn't speak much, usually reverting back to going online and talking there. I knew he has a deep voice with a hint of a southern accent. Now that I think about it, naw it couldn't be, could it? No, James works for NSYNC, he's not in NSYNC, right? But the name, the accent, the deep voice. . .
I was pulled out of my thoughts when I heard someone walk up to me and say "Hi, HR."
I looked up into his crystal green eyes and answered back, "Hi James."
James was finally standing in front of me. All I could do was stare into his eyes. My heart was beating overtime, my palms were getting sweaty, and I wanted to run away. He put his hand on my shoulder and said "It is so great to finally meet you in person, but we really should get out of the doorway."
I looked at him and at the fifty or so people standing behind him, and snapped into work mode.
"Of course, Mr. Bass, please follow me inside." I started to walk into the lobby, turned to Terrence and asked in a whisper for him to point out who the road manager was. I had been in a daze when the introductions were made. I handed over the keys and rooming list to Alex, the road manager. I gave him all the instructions that they would need while staying at the hotel, both for the group's safety as well as our other guests.
Lance caught up to me, and with an inquisitive look asked, "Mr. Bass?"
I was confused. "Yes, Mr. Bass, how can I help you?"
"First you could drop the whole Mr. Bass thing, I would think that you know me well enough to continue calling me James, or even Lance."
"I don't think that is such a good idea." I replied.
"Why? We've known each other for over a year, what's changed?" He asked with a defeated look.
"I don't think that we should be talking about this in the lobby. Why don't you get settled upstairs, and log into AIM?"
"Are you crazy?" He whispered urgently. "Now that I can finally talk to you, you still want to talk online?"
"Mr. Bass," he gave me a look of death. "Sorry, Lance. You are nor exactly who I thought you were. I've told you things about me, I know things about you. But while I was 100% truthful, you weren't. I just need some time to process this."
"I can accept that. I hope you realize that I kept my identity from you not because I don't trust you, but because I didn't think you would believe me."
"I think I know that, but I need time. Let me finish the day, and we'll see what happens."
"I don't want to rush you but I am only here for six days."
"I know. I'll talk to you before I leave work."
I walked back to my office. Sat at my desk and wanted to cry. I had fallen for Lance Bass. I had really hoped that James was also gay, there were many times that I had thought he might be, by things he had said or told me he did. He never talked about going out with anyone. He had told me that with all the traveling he did, he didn't have time to date. But there is no way that Lance could be gay. Look at all the girls that are always falling all over him. And just because there were no special girls in his life did not mean that he was looking for a guy.
"HR, are you ok?" Tribora asked. "You don't look so good. You need to cheer up; you'll be meeting James soon."
"I already met him."
"What, so why are you down here at your desk? You should be in his room jumping him."
"I can't."
"Why?"
"He's Lance."
"He's what?"
"The group is `NSYNC, James doesn't work for them, he is them. He is Lance Bass."
"No way, that is so cool, why are you sad."
"Because while I might have had a chance to hook up with James, there is no way I could ever hook up with Lance Bass."
"HR he is still the same person. If your gaydar was going off for James, it will for certain go off for Lance."
"I don't know, he kinda lied to me, by not telling me who he really was."
"Would you have believed him if he did?"
"I guess not."
"Well than I guess you should haul ass upstairs and go talk to your boy. You don't know what might or might not happen."
In room 817
"Joey, what am I going to do? He hates me."
"Lance, he does not hate you. You surprised him. Give HR the time he needs to wrap his head around the fact that he's become so close to a pop star."
"But Joey," Lance whined. "I'm not just a pop star. There is so much more to me than that. Most of which HR knows about. He knows my dreams and ambitions, shouldn't that make a difference?"
There was a knock at the door. Joey got up to get it figuring it was probably one of the other guys. He opened the door, and found HR on the other side.
"Sorry, I thought this was James' room." I said.
"It is," he replied. "I was just leaving. I'm Joey, by the way, nice to finally meet you."
"Heath, or HR either one works, and it's my pleasure." I answered.
"Be easy on him," he whispered. "This has been a hard day for him too."
"I know."
He walked out the door, and I walked in. I looked around the room, and was proud of the great job the housekeepers did in setting up the room. It looked great. He had already started unpacking; his suitcase was on the bed opened with piles of clothes surrounding it. I walked closer. Nervous as hell.
"James, I'm sorry I freaked." I started.
"I know you are, I kind of expected you to freak. At this point I think I know you almost as well as I know myself. It was wrong of me to string you along like that." He said.
"I knew it." I shouted.
"Knew what?" He asked scared at the raising of my voice.
"Knew that you knew that I had feelings for you, and you were stringing me along. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself." I said disgusted
I was about to storm out of the room when he said in a small voice "feelings?"
"Yes Mr. Bass, feelings, I was falling in love with you. And now I know that those feelings will never be reciprocated."
He walked over to me. Wrapped his arms around my neck and kissed me. I was shocked. "Huh, what? Stop." I took a step back. "Why did you do that?"
"Because you aren't the only one with feelings. Why do you think we added Boston to the tour? Why do you think `NSYNC is staying in Boston for almost a week when in every other city we are lucky to stay in a hotel for one maybe two nights? Why do you think that I am here?" The words rushed from his mouth.
Hold on he orchestrated all this, just so that he could meet me, and spend time with me? No way. I grabbed him close, and kissed him. I started with just some tugging of his bottom lip. I ran my tongue along his lips, savoring the taste. He opened his lips and our tongues touched. I felt shocks down to my cock. I was getting hard, and we had barely started. His hands moved down my back, and mine moved up to his scalp. I threaded my fingers through his hair, it felt so silky. We continued kissing for what seemed like forever. I had to stop so I could catch my breath.
"Why did you stop?" Lance asked disappointed.
I gave him my "adorable" smile, and said, "I need to breathe. Not all of us are superstars that can sing and dance for hours at a time."
"Cute." He smiled back. "So am I forgiven?"
"I think so. I can't believe you were able to pull so many strings just to see me."
"Well it is the end of the tour, and the other guys knew how important this was for me. We just had to convince management that we needed to take our time while in Boston."
"So James, you're Lance Bass. You can make things happen. You made things happen because of me. How did you know that you could trust me with all this?"
"Heath, we have talked for so long, outside of the group you have been my best friend. Why do you think I wouldn't trust you?"
"I don't know, you know how big a fan I am. And now I'm sitting on a huge secret, what if things don't work out? How do you know I won't betray you?"
"Because I know you. I knew I couldn't tell you who I was without showing you who I am. You are so important to me. I had to come clean with you, and I knew that when I did I would have to tell you everything. That is why I waited so long. I needed to be sure."
"Sure of what?" I was really curious.
"Sure of being in love with you, and hoping that you felt the same way. I knew that I would either make my life complete or fall apart when I finally met you."
"You're in love with me? You never told me that you were even interested in guys when we talked. You always talked about girls." I was slightly confused.
"That's because I never thought I was gay until I started talking to you. And even then I was confused. All I know is that while I am still attracted to girls, I fell in love with you."
"I never thought that this was possible. I fell in love with you, well James, months ago. I was so afraid that you wouldn't feel the same way. I was so afraid to finally meet you. I knew that you weren't homophobic, because you knew I was gay, but I thought that you would figure it out and hate me."
"That is why I took the chance. When I finally got through your defenses and was able to talk to you on the phone, I could hear the love in your voice. I knew that you would never betray me, because you also loved me."
We started kissing again. I couldn't get enough of him. He started pushing me back towards the bed, then he broke the kiss
"Hold on a sec." He said. "I want to move the stuff off the bed. No need for everything to get wrinkled."
"Lance, sweetie, I really want to be with you, but I can't do this here. I couldn't knowing the people who will be cleaning the room tomorrow, and the whole hotel now knowing that my James is really Lance. I originally just came up here to apologize. I have to go back down to my office."
"Ok. But can we go out after work is over?" He asked hopefully.
"You want to go out in public with me? I thought you guys were going for low profile this trip."
"We are, I was hoping that you would invite me over to your place for dinner." He said with a cocky smile.
"I think that I could do that. Am I going to have to invite the rest of the guys for a home cooked meal too?"
"Eventually, but I think that we need to spend some time alone first." He said.
"Mr. Bass, I'll have you know that I am not easy. I will not be sleeping with you the first time I meet you." I tried to say with a straight face.
He looked hurt. "I didn't mean that we were going to have sex. I just want to spend time to get to know the in the flesh you."
I started giggling. "I know, I just couldn't help myself."
"That was just mean."
I pouted and said "I'm sorry."
He kissed my pout away and said "I know. Now go downstairs and finish up so that we can spend some quality time together.
To be continued. . .
