Chapter 14

The next thing I knew it was Saturday morning, Christmas Eve. The week had been great spending time with Lance and his family, and Justin and his family. The kids all got along, and my nieces and nephew were more than happy to baby-sit so that the adults could go out by themselves.

I woke up that morning with Lance in my arms. We had made love most of the night and we were both tired.

"Sweetie, do you want breakfast, or to stay in bed?"

"Bed is good," he replied before he started sucking on my neck.

"Jamie, didn't you get enough last night? You went from virgin to nymphomaniac in one week."

He stopped long enough to say, "I can never get enough of you."

"I feel the same way." I paused. There was something that we needed to talk about, but I was afraid to bring it up. I didn't want to ruin the perfect time that we were having. "Jamie, we need to have a serious talk."

He looked nervous. "About?" he said as he sat up, and leaned against the headboard.

"Us, and what we are going to do when you have to leave, because you are going to have to leave." I also sat up, and turned so that I was looking at him.

"I know we need to figure out what to do. But I don't have to go, I can always just move here."

"Jamie, be serious. Your life is not in Boston. Your businesses are not here."

"Ry, I can work from anywhere, as long as I have an Internet connection and a phone. True, I might have to fly somewhere for special projects or if I ever get another movie role. But I can move to Boston without any problems."

"Are you serious? You would just up and move here, because I asked you to?"

"Yes, I am serious, and no I'm not doing because you have asked, because you haven't asked me yet."

I looked into his beautiful eyes, "James Lance Bass, will you move in with me?"

"I would love to, but I have to ask you something first."

"Okay."

"HeathRiley, will you marry me?"

I flung myself at him and wrapped my arms around his neck, kissing him everywhere that I could reach.

"I'll take that as a yes?"

"Yes, Jamie, yes!"

He started to kiss me, and I could feel how hard he was. I brought my hand down to his cock and started stroking him.

"Ry. That feels so good. Make love to me."

I grabbed the lube from the nightstand, we started to keep it there just for convenience sake. I also went to get a condom.

"No." Lance said.

"What do you mean no?"

"I want just you. Nothing between us. Love, we are going to be married. We are committed to each other."

"But I've been with other people."

"You were always safe with them, and you have always tested negative."

"You're 100% sure about this? It is going to be messy."

"I am; now stop talking and make love to me."

I didn't need to do much to prepare Lance, because I had just made love to him a few hours before. He lay down on his side. I lubed myself and slid into him from behind. It felt like heaven. I could feel his warmth radiating, our bodies touching each other from head to toe. He clenched his ass muscles to indicate that he wanted it to be slow and sensual. I started to make love to him, hitting his prostate as much as I possibly could. He turned his head and sucked on my neck, as I was kissing his shoulder. There were many times that I brought myself to the brink, only to stop and calm down, so that we could make love for hours. I finally let our orgasms come when I heard Lance's stomach rumbling.

I chuckled, "hungry?"

"Yeah, we never did eat breakfast."

"True, what are you in the mood for?"

"Something light. Maybe a salad or something?"

"Oriental chicken salad sound good?"

"Amazing."

"Ok, I'll shower real quick and go whip one up."

"I'll be right behind you."

I went to shower and as I was getting out Lance hopped in. I went to the kitchen to prepare our lunch. Not much later Lance came in and we had lunch together. As we were eating my phone rang.

"Excuse me for a sec."

"No problem."

I picked up the phone, "hello?"

"Hey HR!" It was one of my other best friends from college, Heidi, who happens to be dating my cousin Evan.

"Heidi, hey. How are you?"

"Wonderful, Evan and I got the condo. The one down the street from you."

"Wicked sweet. You guys still coming over this afternoon to exchange presents?"

"Yeah, that's why I'm calling. Just wanted to double-check the time. We planned this so long ago."

"No problem, we'll see you at 2ish."

"We?"

"Oh, shit. I totally forgot to tell you. It's been a crazy couple weeks."

"Tell me what?"

"Well you know how I was meeting James last Wednesday?"

"Yeah, how'd it go?"

"Great, amazing, wonderful. You're going to meet him later today."

"Oh, I thought that he was only going to be in Boston for a week?"

"Yeah, things have changed just a little. I'll explain it all when you get here."

"Okay. So I'll see you in an hour and a half."

"Yup."

"Bye."

"Laters."

I hung up the phone and went back to the island where Lance was sitting, still eating lunch.

"You didn't tell Heidi what was going on? She's your best friend." Lance asked me.

"I kinda forgot to call her. I've been busy. The only reason anyone else knows is because they called me this week. She's going to flip when she gets here."

"Why?"

"Because I didn't tell her anything yet."

"It'll be okay. She'll forgive you."

"I hope so. I'm really excited that she got the condo down the street. It'll be so cool with her living in the neighborhood."

"I can't wait to meet her, and the rest of your friends too."

"Same here. We're either going to have to do a lot of traveling, or invite everyone here."

"We can invite everyone here. We'll have a huge engagement party."

"I almost forgot," I kissed him. "We're going to get married, and we can have a real wedding because it is legal in this state for residents."

"Yes we are, as soon as we can arrange it. I don't want to wait."

"Neither do I. Let's forget the engagement party, and just have the wedding."

"I'm cool with that. But we need some time to plan, how does a February wedding sound?"

"Cold, but I'm used to the cold. I just hope everyone is willing to fly in."

"They will be. And if they aren't we'll make them."

"You're too cute. Now finish eating. I have to finish wrapping presents and bring up the rest of the decorations from the basement."

"And what about you? You've barely touched your food."

"I'm too excited to eat. I'll snack on something later." I got up and nibbled at his neck."

"Hey, I am not food. But you can continue that."

"Can't. I have too much to do." I was bouncing around. "I'll be downstairs."

"I'll be down to help in a second. I'm going to finish up, and then toss everything in the dishwasher."

"Thanks sweetie!" I called out heading towards the basement.

Christmas Eve is one of my favorite days of the year. I think even more so than Christmas Day. I love the excitement and anticipation of what's to come. When I got down to the basement, I saw that Ben and Stephanie were already there.

"Hey guys, what are you doing down here?"

"Hey Uncle Heath," replied Stephanie. "We're just getting some stuff that we hid down here. Do you want help bringing stuff up?"

"That would be great. Almost everything is still in the closet."

"No problem. We can take care of it. You relax with Lance," Ben said.

"There's a lot of stuff here. Can you handle it all?"

"We'll call Kayla, Jessie and Maddy down. They'll help," Stephanie said.

"If you're sure."

"No worries. We'll take care of everything." Ben smiled.

For some reason I didn't want to trust them. They for sure had something up their sleeves. But I wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth, and I went back up to the kitchen where I found Lance just about finished cleaning up.

"Jamie, the kids said that they were going to take care of the decorations, so we have the afternoon to relax. You want to watch some television until Heidi and Evan get here?"

"Can we cuddle on the couch?"

"Of course."

We went into the den and made out more than actually watching anything. When the doorbell rang, Lance got up to answer it.

"Do you think that is a good idea?" I asked him.

"I want to see what her reaction is going to be."

"You're mean."

"No, just curious."

Lance went to the door, and I walked up behind him and put my arms around his waist and my head on his shoulder. He opened the outside door. Heidi took one look at me and started giggling.

"No way," she said.

"What?" I asked.

"You couldn't just fall for someone who worked for a boyband, but you had to fall for a member. I can't wait to hear what Abbey has to say about this."

"She already knows, and I already got the lecture."

Lance looked up at me quizzically.

"I'll explain it to you later," I said to Lance and turned my attention to my guests. "So come in already."

We walked into the den and I gave both Heidi and Evan a hug hello.

"Heidi, Evan, this is Lance, my fiancé. Jamie, this is my best friend Heidi and her boyfriend, my cousin, Evan."

"Nice to meet you Lance," Heidi said. "Wait a second. . . fiancé? You just met last week."

"Well we have known each other for a long time, and when it's right, it's right. You know that." I countered, knowing that Evan was going to be proposing to Heidi soon. He was just waiting for the right time.

"You are correct. I'm sorry, I didn't mean for that to sound like I was against it." She apologized.

We all hung out for a little bit before we exchanged presents and opened them per our tradition.

"I'm sorry that I don't have a better present for you Lance. If Heath had told me that you were going to be here earlier than this afternoon, we would have had time to do some proper shopping." Heidi glared at me as she handed Lance his present to open.

"Sorry, I've been busy." I said.

"You didn't have to get me anything, but I'm sure it's fine." Lance said tearing the paper like a little kid. It was a 3-d puzzle of a space shuttle. "This is so cool. How'd you know?"

"I knew that you guys met in a chat room about space, so I figured I'd go with that theme." Heidi replied.

Lance walked over and gave Heidi a huge hug. "It's perfect, thanks so much." He then tried to shake Evan's hand.

"In this family we hug," Evan said giving Lance a hug.

"Ok, now you guys open yours." I said.

Not too much later, my family started to come downstairs for our Christmas Eve traditions, and Heidi and Evan had to leave to go visit his parents. On their way out my mom made sure to send his family's presents with my cousin.

Justin his family and Lance's family would be joining us later for dinner. My father insisted that the ornament hanging be family only. Lance was welcome, only because my mother insisted on it. My father is very heavy on tradition.

In my family we put the lights and tinsel on first. Then my parents give us our first present, an ornament. My mother goes and gets a special ornament for each of us, and she always personalizes them. This year she gave Lance one too. The kids hang their ornaments and then my brother, sister-in-law and I do ours, then my parents. My dad then puts the star on top. When I was adding my ornaments to the tree, I asked Lance to come up with me.

"I want you to help me put mine on. And I want to tell my family."

"Aww Ry," he nodded.

"Mom, Dad, everyone, this morning Lance asked me to marry him, and I said yes."

"Baby! I'm so happy for you," my mom said.

We got congratulations from everybody.

"When are you planning the wedding?" Aimee asked.

"Hopefully February," Lance answered.

"That's pretty quick," my father said.

"We don't see a need to wait. We love each other, and want to show our love to the world," I said.

"Is Lance going to move here?" Craig asked.

"Yeah, after New Year's we're going to go pack up his house and move him here."

A lot more questions were asked as we continued to decorate the tree. Afterwards we all got our presents out of their hiding places and put them around the tree.

Dinner that night was a lively affair with everyone; we told Lance's parents the good news. They were a little upset that he was moving so far away, but they understood that his life was more flexible than mine. I set a buffet on the island and everyone took what he or she wanted. Justin's, Lance's and my parents took their plates and went upstairs to my parents' apartment to eat. They said it was too loud with all the kids running around. When it got late, Justin and his family and Lance's family went back to the hotel. They were going to do Christmas morning at the hotel. Lance and I would join Lance's family early in the morning, and then come back to my house to celebrate with mine, and prepare the ham and turkey. I had gotten small Christmas trees for Lance's suite and Justin's, so that their families had a place to put their presents.

Lance and I were very tired that night when we finally went to bed. We kissed a little and fell asleep with our lips still touching.

In the morning, Lance and I got up early to make it over to the hotel. I stopped by the front desk and wished my employees a happy holiday. Then we went upstairs to Lance's room, where his family was waiting with breakfast that they ordered from room service.

"Merry Christmas Mom & Dad," Lance said as we walked into the room. He went over to his parents and gave them each a hug. Then he went to Stacy and Ford, while I said hello to his parents. We switched again, when he picked up Leyton, and gave her a bear hug.

"Uncle Jamie, its Christmas!" Leyton was so excited.

"Yes sugar, it is. And we have lots of presents for you to open." Lance replied.

"James you didn't go overboard, did you?" Stacy asked.

"Well, Joey refused to let me spoil Brianna so I had to spoil someone," he replied as he tickled Leyton.

"Uncle Jamie, stop!" She screamed while giggling.

He let her go with a pat on her bottom.

"Okay now for some Bass traditions," Jim said. "French toast and hot chocolate for breakfast, and then we open presents."

Breakfast was great, if I do say so myself. I was really proud of the great job the kitchen staff did. We then went to open presents. I got a really beautiful necklace from Lance's parents and his sister and brother-in-law got me the matching bracelet. Leyton had made the card. It was so cute. I laughed when I saw that Lance had gotten the same set, along with a few other presents that he loved.

His parents seemed to like the matching monogrammed robes that I got them, and for Stacy and Ford I got an engraved photo album. Leyton got a gift certificate to Build-a-Bear, which I planned on taking her to get done. I had a time scheduled on Monday to take Leyton, Jonathan, Stephen, Ben and my nieces to all have bears made.

"HeathRiley you had best watch yourself," Diane said. "Leyton loves that store. She might not want to leave.

"No worries Diane, I'm just as bad. I have four bears, and I can't tell you how many I've bought as presents."

After spending some time with his family, Lance and I made our way over to Justin's room to exchange presents there. I again did fairly well getting a gift from both sides of Justin's family and Justin. We couldn't spend much time because I had to get back to the house to start dinner. I'm pretty sure that everybody was happy with what they got.

We made it back to the house by ten. I took the meat that I needed to cook, and put it in the oven. I had already seasoned it. I called my family downstairs. As per usual my house was pure bedlam when presents were opened. My brother tries and fails each year to keep his kids from attacking their presents. My mother just relishes the fact and videotapes it.

After the kids go nuts, they usually calm down enough to pass out the adult's presents out. My parent's got me a new food processor, Craig and Aimee got me a huge basket filled with specialty barbeque sauces and rubs. Normally the kids get me individual presents, but this year they got me a beautiful Christmas dishes, flatware and glassware, which just happened to be more than enough for later this afternoon.

Lance got gift certificates from my parents and Craig and Aimee. The kids got him both the `I Love Lucy' collector's edition and the Night Sky edition of Monopoly. He was thrilled.

My family enjoyed the presents that I had got them and Lance spoiled the kids again by giving them each a PSP and a $100 gift card to buy games or movies.

"Jamie, that is too much," I admonished.

"Let me have my fun," he countered. "Now come here so that I can give you your present."

I moved closer to him and he kissed me. He then pulled back and pulled out a wrapped gift about the size of a shirt box.

"Hold on one sec, I need to go get yours."

I ran down to the basement and got out one large box and a much smaller one that I had hidden behind the lawn equipment. When I got back upstairs Lance was waiting patiently. I sat down with him and we exchanged gifts. I waited for him to open his present before opening mine. I was so nervous.

He opened the smaller one. It was a man's jewelry box that I had custom made by a neighbor of mine who works with wood. Inside was a ring that was similar to mine, but instead of the bands moving around, they were stacked. When he opened it his face just lit up. I could see that he liked it a lot.

"Put it on me?" he asked, holding out his left hand.

I put it on his ring finger and kissed it.

"I love you," he said.

"I love you too, Jamie."

"Open mine before I open your next one."

I opened his present. Inside the box were a personalized silver wedding album, (the date was left blank) and a Palm Treo.

"It's gorgeous," I was a little confused, and Lance of course knew why.

"I was going to ask you today to marry me, when I gave you your present. I kind of jumped the gun yesterday morning. I couldn't wait any longer to ask."

"That explains the album, but what about the Palm Treo?"

"It is so that we can coordinate our schedules, and keep in touch. With planning a wedding, and not always being in the same state, I wanted a way that we could always be able to keep on top of things. I know I'm a little over organized, but I wanted to be involved with every step even if I can't be somewhere."

"Jamie, it's ok that you like to be super organized. It's one of the things that I love about you most. If you we're this way, we probably never would have gotten to actually meet." I took the smartphone in my hand, and looked at it. "This has got to be the coolest thing ever. It even has a camera."

"Yeah, I really liked that feature."

"Thank you Jamie, this is a wonderful present." I kissed him hard on the mouth. "Oh my god, I almost forgot. You have another present."

He opened the box, inside were catalogues from IKEA, Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware and an American Express gift card.

"Ry?"

"Well since you are going to be moving in, I wanted to make this our home. Right now everything is what I chose. I want to redecorate with you."

"Oh Ry, you are one amazing man. This is already our home. The second that you gave me a key I felt like I was home. But redecorating can always be fun," Lance said grinning.

"I can't say it enough, I love you so much."

"I love you too."

I wanted to go into my bedroom and make love with Lance for the rest of the day, but I couldn't we had company, and more coming over soon. I got the troops in order, we cleaned up the family room and started getting the table ready for dinner.

The crew came over from the hotel around 2:30pm, and I was ready. The kitchen looked amazing, there were candles lit all over and the table was set with the gorgeous dinnerware that the kids had gotten me.

Once everyone was settled at the table my father said grace, and I with my helpers brought all the food to the table. It was an amazing feast. Everything was delicious. There were barely any leftovers to put away. I had tons of help cleaning up and when everyone went back to their respective homes or temporary homes, Lance and I sat in the den, cuddled on the couch with some hot chocolate, listening to Christmas carols on the stereo.

"I almost wish it had snowed. It would have been nice to have a white Christmas for once," Lance said.

"Trust me; you'll be regretting those words when you have to shovel three feet of snow." He looked up at me pouting. "Hey, you move here, you have to share in the responsibilities." I kissed him on the forehead.

"I will. I can't believe how perfect everything has been. I love being here with you."

"And I love you being here. I never thought that I would find true love, and here you are sitting right next to me. We have been so lucky."

"We have."

We fell asleep on the couch all curled up in one another.
