Meeting Love Chapter 2

I practically flew down the seven flights of stairs to get back to my office. I couldn't wait to talk to Tribora, and let her know what was happening.

"What would I do without you?" I said panting.

"Did you rock his world?" She asked, oh so innocently.

"No, I couldn't. I want to, but I'm going to wait." I replied.

"So. . . I want details, juicy fat details."

I started to give her the minute-by-minute story, when Bill, the Director of Rooms and my immediate manager, came over. I thought I was going to be in trouble for disappearing. I am usually so much more professional.

"HeathRiley, first I want you to tuck your shirt back in and adjust your tie," he said with a stern voice. All I could think was 'oh, shit.' "Then I want you to dish," and he grinned.

Dish, did Bill just say dish? Ok I know he also likes to gossip with us, as long as it is about us and not other people, but he wants to know about me making out with one of our guests? That's just a little weird.

"Bill aren't I going to be in trouble for doing what I just did?" I asked.

"I wouldn't announce it to Brian (the hotel's General Manager), but I would like to think that I am one of those people you can trust. We know why we have this group staying at the hotel, and if that means that I will have to look away and ignore a rule or two. . . Well that's fine, because I'll only have to look aside for a week. After that you're good to go. Oh, but you have to wait a minute for Terrence to meet us down here. I called him the second I saw you fly through the back door."

"Yeah, we are all taking a coffee break together," Tribora piped in.

"Huh? Why?" I asked.

"Duh, so that you only have to tell the whole story once, even though I know I'll be hearing it over and over again." Tribora said cheekily.

"Ha, ha. I'm not that bad."

Terrence walked in as Bill and Tribora both rolled their eyes at me.

"Let me guess, HR thinks that he isn't going to tell this story over and over again." Terrence commented.

"What? Why would you say that?" I asked.

"One because I know you, two because I saw the eye rolls and three because I heard the tail end of the conversation." Terrence replied and then stuck his tongue out at me.

"Hey you're cute, unless you want to use that, I would advise sticking it back in your mouth. Rachel would not approve of your coming on to me." I joked.

"HR, you have a weird sense of what it means when someone sticks out their tongue." Terrence said.

"I know I am weird. Now can we move on, so that I can actually get some work done, and I can take my boy home?"

We went to the coffee shop across the street from the hotel. I told them in exquisite detail what had happened when I went to talk to Lance. Tribora was shocked that I had that much self control. I don't think it was so much control as being uncomfortable in that room. After my venti peppermint americano, we headed back to the hotel.

It was about four in the afternoon and I was so ready to just drop everything and leave. I made a concerted effort to clear off my desk, and update some forecasted numbers. I hate not finishing something. As I filed papers I got more and more nervous. I was bringing Lance Bass to my house. The three family house that I share with my parents and brother. At least my apartment is on the first floor, usually I can be at home for at least an hour before my mother comes down to visit. My brother Craig and his wife Aimee have it bad, they're on the top floor and my mother descends on them the second that she hears their footsteps. Speaking of which, I should probably call mom, and let her know that she can't come over tonight. I dialed and prayed that I would get my father; he's the reasonable one, but no such luck.

"Hello?" She asked as she answered the phone.

"Hey Mom," I started. "I just wanted to let you know that my friend is coming over tonight, so I would appreciate it if you stayed upstairs."

"Are you sure that is such a good idea honey? What if he is a serial killer?"

"Ma, we went over this. He is not a serial killer, I already met him. He's a good guy."

"It's just that I worry about you. The last time you hooked up with a guy on the internet it didn't go so well." She said.

"Mom, I went to see Mike only a month after first talking to him. At your insistence, I might add. We dated for five months before we broke up, it was a rough breakup, but he wasn't the worst person in the world. James and I have talked online for over a year. We developed a friendship. I know him almost as well as I know myself."

"Sweetie, its just that I don't want you to get hurt. And don't make Mike out to be such a great person. He was awful to you. You were talking marriage, and then he tells you he thinks you are a stalker and that he fell in love with his best friend Don. That just doesn't make sense. The boy is not right in the head."

"Mom, can we not rehash this again. All I am asking is that you give us some time together. Can you please do that for me?"

"Of course, anything for my baby."

"I am not your baby, Craig is younger than me."

"You will always be my baby." She said, sounding like she was about to cry.

"Ok Mom. I have to go now. I'll be home in a little bit. Make sure that Aimee doesn't park their kid-mobile across my spot again."

"It's just a Yukon, you drive a Durango, its not that much smaller."

"No it's just the idea that I use my SUV to go to the mountains, and they use theirs to haul my five nieces and nephews around. But anyways, I really have to go. I'll probably see you later tonight. Love you."

"I love you too cutie, see you later. Bye!"

"Bye." I hung up the phone. Oh my, it is always a trial talking to my mother. And I know that she's going to make her way downstairs at some point. I just hope that James and I aren't in a compromising position. Speaking of which, I really need to decide what I am going to call him. Do I stick with James, which I know he was using only to protect himself, but is how I truly know him. Or do I call him Lance or one of his other nicknames like everyone else in the world? This is so confusing. He calls me HR, but that is how I introduced myself. Seriously, I don't know what my parents were thinking when they named me HeathRiley Steven Lindsay. The names don't even really go together, and whoever heard of the name HeathRiley as a first name, together, no hyphen or anything, WEIRD. And with the last name Lindsay, you wouldn't believe the number of times I get mistaken for a girl. But that is neither here nor there. I need to focus. Lance or James? James or Lance? I think I'll stick with James, at least for now.

I picked up the phone again, looking a little more forward to this call, but still nervous as hell. I dialed his room.

"Bonjour?"

Odd, I looked at the display on my phone. It showed that I was connected to 817. That should have been James' room.

"Hello, is James there?" I asked.

"Hey, HR. It's me." He replied.

"I'm a little confused, do you normally answer the phone in French, with a perfect accent?"

"We all choose a different language when we stay in hotels. That way unless we recognize the person calling, we don't have to talk on the phone. It cuts back on the fans dialing random hotel rooms trying to find us."

"Makes sense. Are you ready?" I asked, paranoid that he would decide that he didn't want to come over anymore.

"I'll meet you downstairs. I can't wait to see you again." Oh god, that voice, those words, I was getting hard just hearing his anticipation. Pep talk time. . . Ok, I can do this. It's only James I am going to hang out with. I can act like a normal person. We are not jumping into bed together. We are going to be civilized. I am not going to let my libido take over. I will stay in control.

I gathered up my stuff, blew kisses to Bora and walked into the lobby. James was just stepping off the elevator as I zipped up my coat. He looked gorgeous. His hair was styled just so, I wanted to reach out and touch it, but I was afraid. Not only because it was totally inappropriate where we were, but I wouldn't want to ruin the perfect spikes. He was wearing a blue and green striped polo, with khaki pants, a brown belt with a cute buckle and a brown Dr. Marten's. You could tell he worked hard not to look like he worked hard to look good.

I walked over to him. "You ready?"

"Definitely," he replied.

"Stay here. I'll be right back."

I started to walk into the attached garage so that I could pull my Durango up to the door, when I felt him following me.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"It's just that it's better if I don't hang out in the lobby."

"I am such an idiot, sorry."

"No you're not; it's cute that you forget who I am."

Cute, he just called me cute. YES!! Ok, so I'm pushing it a little but I'm pretty sure that he finds me attractive.

"Hey stop thinking so much. Let's go," he said.

To be continued. . .
