Author's Note:
Hey, boys! Well, here it is, MC15, at long last. I know it took me a bit longer this time to turn one out, but hey, I'm a super busy guy. So pardon the delay. Anyways, I'm glad to finally finish this installment. There's a wedding in this chapter as I alluded to in the last installment. And what's a wedding without some sappy dance music, DJed by yours very truly! :o) So put on your nifty suits and dancing shoes. 'Cause we have a wedding to get to and some dancing to do! As always, below is my musical selection for the installment. Play them in the background as you read the story, if you'd like. If you don't have these songs...well humm, you might just want to get them because they're awesome songs. And some of these sappy songs might make you want to gag (if you're not in the romantic frame of mind). But it's my wedding, and I can play any darn songs I please. You can always plug your ears if the music displeases you but then again, you'll look pretty silly on the dance floor with your fingers in your ears. :o) Alright, enough silliness for one installment. Let's us now turn our attention to the feature presentation MC15: "Wedding Day." Enjoy.
Musical Selection: Shania Twain/ "When you kiss me" & "I'm jealous." Marc Anthony/ "My baby you."
Whitney Houston/ "Could I have this kiss forever." Sarah Mclachlan/ "I love you."

Michael and Chance 15:
"Wedding Day"
by
Michael T. Freeman
8/6/03
"Friends, family, and dearly loved ones, we are gathered here today on this special occasion to witness the blessed union of Michael Chandler and Chance Speedman. Before we proceed further, is there anyone here who knows of any just cause as to why these two loving individuals should not be wedded, please speak up now, or forever hold your peace?" the clergyman formally inquired as he adjusted his glasses and paused momentarily to scan the audience. "Well, then I shall pro..."
"I do," a voice declared from the back, interrupting the clergyman. Curious heads promptly turned to see who it was as whispers quickly erupted.
Chance jolted abruptly from his sleep as images of the dream quickly faded away. His curious mind instinctively tried to hold onto the fast fleeting images as feeling of irritation reverberated throughout his body, leaving him perplexed and unease. He stared blankly at the moonlit ceiling above and gasped for air as he realized that it was just a dream. Still a bit bewildered, he turned to see his love who was sounded asleep next to him. Chance sighed with relief and gently spooned Michael's warm naked body, taking refuge in the comfort of his presence as he tried desperately to recall the elusive dream.
I woke up to the tender kisses of Chance's soft lips on my right cheek. I opened my eyes to the welcoming sight of his sweet smile and soulful sky blue eyes. His head perched slightly by his right arm as he stared down at me.
"Hey ." I smiled and rubbed my eyes. "How long have you been up?" I asked as I leaned up and kissed his forehead good morning.
"For a while now," Chance replied. I could tell that something was slightly off by the tone in his voice. It seemed to lack its usual vitality.
"Did you not sleep well last night?"
"Not really," Chance replied.
"I guess it's hard to get a good night sleep sometimes in a new and unfamiliar place."
"Yeah, I guess so." Chance looked momentarily away into the distance and suddenly showed a hint of a smile as he asked, "So are you ready for the wedding today?"
"Absolutely," I smiled beamingly. "I can't wait to see you in your tuxedo suit."
Chance started to chuck lightly and leaned in to kiss me when we heard a knock on our bedroom door.
"May I come in, boys?" We heard Mrs. Dupere asked.
"Yes, ma'am," I replied as Chance and I sat up from bed.
Trance's mom opened the door and poked her head in and announced, "Breakfast is ready downstairs whenever you boys are ready for it."
"Thanks, ma'am. We'll be right down." Chance replied as Mrs. Dupere smiled pleasantly and closed the door.
Chance hopped into the shower while I brushed my teeth. I soon joined him, and we fooled around a bit before exiting the shower and got dress.
Trance's mom had a nice breakfast spread waiting for us when we came into the dining room. Trance and his parents have already started their breakfast.
"Good morning," Chance and I greeted everyone.
"Good morning, boys," Trance's parents replied. "Come have a seat," Dr. Dupere invited us as he pointed to the chairs across from him.
"Morning," Trance chimed in, "How's my best man doing?"
"Just great," I replied as Chance and I sat down at the table.
"What a beautiful day for a wedding," Chance commented.
"It certainly is. I can't believe my boy is getting marry." Trance's mom smiled radiantly as she leaned over to kiss Trance. You can tell how proud she was of him.
"Okay, mom, enough of that. Let's save it for the wedding." We all laughed.
After breakfast, Chance, Trance, and I lounged around for a couple of hours before it was time for all of us to head over to the wedding site. The white stretched limousine, which Trance's parents rented, soon arrived, and we were on our way to an English styled estate that Trance's parents have reserved for the wedding ceremony and reception. A half an hour later, the limo stopped temporarily at the front gate of the property as the gate guard opened the decorative black iron gate. The limo soon pulled into the circular, stone-paved driveway of the English estate with a magnificent water fountain, prominently marking its entrance. The house, or rather more accurately, the mansion was impressive, stately with an old world's English charm to its architecture and landscape.
We were greeted by an attractive slim lady in a stylish, formal, cream-colored dress, adorned with a phone headset, and a brown leather covered writing pad in arm. I soon found out that she was the wedding coordinator, which Kindred's parents have hired. She escorted us into the mansion and proceeded to inform us of the layout of the mansion and which rooms we could use to change into our formal attires, which we have brought with us. She also informed us that Kindred and her parents should be arriving in a little while.
"So make yourself comfortable and let me know if you need anything," the wedding coordinator cordially suggested and excused herself to proceed to the next task at hand.
Trance's parents proceeded upstairs to look around while us boys decided to explore the backyard. Well, backyard is certainly an underestatement as we soon found out. The back area of the property was massive. It was as impressive as the mansion itself in its stately design and formal English garden layout. The mansion's main back doors opened onto a beautiful terrace, adorned with urns of cascading flowers and planting. The terrace overlooked the foothills beyond and the immaculately manicured grounds, composing of a large long stretch of lawn area, flanked by several themed gardens, which were delineated by evergreen walls and boxwood hedges. Flowering vines cascaded gently over the side of the upper terrace walls. Tall potted topiary plants punctuated the entrances of the dual, mirrored stairways, leading down to the fan-shaped, lower terrace whose steps descended onto the lawn area below. A cleverly designed, unexpected water feature protruded from the wall of the upper terrace, spouting streams of water onto a curvilinear water basin, greeted us as we descended the balustered stairways of the upper terrace. Four towering Roman columns with decorative planting saucers atop formally marked the perimeter of the lawn area. Just beyond the primary lawn area is a smaller courtyard with a reflective pool and another decorative water feature, spouting water. Near the edge of the lawn, paralleled to the lower terrace, an archway, laced with flowers and plantings and urns of creamy white and rose pink flowers of various shades at its bases, marked the spot where the bride and groom shall exchange their vows. As I looked about, an army of people was busily preparing for the ceremony---setting up chairs, lighting, flower arrangements, and laying flooring panels onto a portion of the lawn area where the ceremony will be taking place.
"Wow, what a great place for a wedding, Trance," I exclaimed as I admired the magnificent setting.
Chance nodded in agreement as Trance smiled contently. "Yeah, it sure is. Kindred did a great job of picking this place."
"I'm going to check out that garden over there," Chance suddenly announced as he pointed to a smaller, more intimate courtyard to the left side of this large lawn area. "I'll be right back." Chance waved as he took off for the garden.
"Alright." I waved back.
"Speaking of Kindred, when is she arriving, anyway?" I asked out curiosity.
"Should be soon," Trance replied as he pulled out his cell phone. "Let me give her a call and see."
As Trance called Kindred, I sat down at one of the white chairs, facing the ceremonial archway and the back of the mansion. And in my mind's eyes, I suddenly envisioned Chance and I standing underneath the archway, exchanging our wedding vows as we gazed lovingly into each other's eyes. I felt my heart filled with this incredible joy and love at such thought. I exhaled deeply with an aching yearning in my heart. Suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder and immediately snapped out of my daydream.
I turned to the pleasant sight of Chance and his beautiful smile.
"Hey, what you're doing, angel," Chance asked as he sat down next to me and looked curiously in the direction that I was staring, apparently trying to figure out what I was gazing so steadfastly at. He redirected his gaze back to me. "What are you thinking?"
"I was just...hum...," I abruptly paused and smiled dreamily at him as I suddenly decided to keep to myself my fanciful vision of us exchanging our wedding vows. I guess a part of me quickly realized that it might be premature of me to bring up the topic ofmarriage at this point in our relationship so I instinctively clammed up. Chance looked at me witha curious expression, waiting for me to finish my sentence. "Hum I was just admiring the beautiful ceremonial archway that they have set up here," I quickly squeaked out. Chance didn't seem to be completely convinced with my covered up statement. Nevertheless, he seemed to be satisfied enough to leave it alone for the time being and simply leaned in to kiss me near the side of my ear and whispered softly and deliberately, "I love you, angel." I felt the side of his face ever so lightly brushed against mine as he slowly back away and smiled dreamily at me. There was a curious and unusual gleam in his eyes as if he has read my mind and seen my dreamy vision without my expressing them. His loving words---words that I have heard him utter to me many at times---for some odd reasons seemed to resonate and affect me more deeply and profoundly at that moment than they have in the past. They suddenly embraced my heart and soul with an unexpected vigor and potency that is almost indescribable, beyond feeble mortal words.
I exhaled deeply as an intoxicated, overwhelming sense of love and joy overcame me. Reflectively, I reached over, cupped the back of his neck, and swiftly pulled his head towards mine as my eager lips met his. I kissed his hungrily and intensely, which he immediately reciprocated with vigor and deliberation. I don't even know how long we've kissed, but it seemed like an eternity, as if time for that moment stopped, as we engrossed in our passionate lip locking and embrace.
"Ah-hum," I heard Trance cleared his vocal cord. We both slowly broke our kiss and turned to face Trance.
"Sorry, guys." Trance smiled apologetically as he held out his cell phone to me. "Don't mean to interrupt such loving display of public affection," Trance said with innocent sarcasm, "but the girls want to say hi to you, Michael."
He handed me the phone. "Hey, sweetie," I announced into the receiver.
"Hey, Michael," I heard Kindred answered. "Just want to say hi and see how you're doing."
"I'm good was just making out with my boyfriend before I was rudely interrupted," I said jokingly as I glanced over at Trance who was standing next to me. He immediately rolled his eyes amusingly and shot me a "whatever" look. I then chatted briefly with Stacy and Essence who were riding over with Kindred and her parents. Apparently, they are on their way and should be here in a little while. I soon ended the call and gave Trance back his cell phone.
With some to kill, we continued to wander about and explored the rest of the estate for about half an hour when Kindred and her party arrived. We were sitting on the step of the lower terrace when we heard Kindred called our names. We turned to see Kindred, Stacy, Essence, and her boyfriend, waving to us from the upper terrace. They quickly came down to greet us.
"Hey, gorgeous," I exclaimed as I gave Kindred a kiss. "Took you long enough to get here. I told Trance that you've probably gotten cold feet or something," I remarked teasingly with a smirk.
Kindred playfully pinched my side.
"Ouch!" I cried as I chucked.
"Chance, you better come here and grab your boyfriend before I give him a wiping," Kindred teasingly remarked. We all laughed and continued to greet each other.
"Good to see you again, Ethan," I said as I shook Essence's boyfriend's hand.
"Same here, Michael."
We sat around and chatted for a bit before deciding to go inside for a drink. Just as we were about to enter the mansion, we heard the wedding coordinator called to us. She informed us that it was time for the ceremony rehearsal. A small orchestra, hired by Trance's parents, were setting up on the side of the lower terrace as we began the rehearsal. After the rehearsal it was time for all of us to get dress for the wedding. So we dispersed promptly into our respective changing rooms.
I was busy styling my hair when I saw Chance's reflection in the mirror, standing in the doorway of our adjoining rooms with his tuxedo suit on. I immediately stopped messing with my hair and stared at him. He looked amazing in his black tuxedo suit. I turned around to take a better look at him.
"You look incredible, babe." I grinned in awe.
"Well, thank you, sir. You look smashing yourself, my love," Chance replied in best mock British accent.
I leaned in and kissed him passionately. We French kissed for a while before parting lips. "Would you give me a hand with this?" Chance asked as he held out his black tie. "I'm never good with these things."
"I can also give you a hand with something else too," I replied with a mischievous smile as I grabbed his firm, bubbly butt cheeks and gave them a gentle squeeze as I pulled him towards me and kissed his delicious lips again. I can never get enough of Chance's sweet, slightly pouting lips. We kissed intensely for a few minutes when I felt a slight bulge in Chance's pants.
"Angel, we better stopped," Chance suggested as he broke our kiss. "As much as I love making out with you, I don't think this is the time or the place, or the pants for that matter to get all arouse in. Unfortunately, I only brought one pairs, and I don't want to have any accident in them, if you know what I mean." Chance smiled apologetically.
"You're absolutely right. We wouldn't want to do anything to mess up your nice black pants, especially on this special occasion," I said sarcastically with a grin.
"Okay, enough with the taunting. Would you please just help me with this tie," Chance pleaded as he handed me his black tie.
"Voila!" I exclaimed as I finished straighten out his tie and turned him to face the mirror.
"Magnifique, merci mon amour," Chance said as he glanced at himself in the full length mirror and then gave me a thank-you kiss before heading back to his room to put on his tuxedo jacket.
I returned back to styling my hair and put on my own tuxedo tie. I soon finished getting dress.
"I'm going to check on Trance to see how he's doing. Be right back," I announced to Chance who was styling his hair. He nodded in response.
I knocked on Trance's door. "Come in." I heard Trance called.
Trance was in the middle of putting on his tuxedo tie.
"Hey, just want to see if you need help with anything."
"Actually, yeah if you could help me with this tie thing...that would be great."
"Sure." I walked over and helped Trance put on his rose pink tie. I backed away a few feet as he put on his white tuxedo jacket for a good look at him all dressed in his formal attire. He looked awesome in his all white tuxedo suit and soft rose pink tie. "You look great, Trance!"
"Thanks." Trance flashed his infectious smile and gave me a warm, long embrace as he rested the side of his head against mine and mumbled, "I'm so glad you're here, Michael." He sighed with relief, and I could feel his warm breath on my neck. I knew that he meant more than just for this special occasion.
"Me too, buddy, I'm glad to be here for you. I wouldn't miss it for the world. And I'm honored to be your best man."
"I wouldn't have anyone else be my best man but you, Michael. You're truly like a brother to me." Trance leaned in and hugged me tightly again for several seconds and uttered, "I love you, guy."
"I love you too, buddy." I grinned appreciatively as we slowly released from each other's hold. "Alright, I'll let you finish up." I turned and exited Trance's room.
Soon the guests started to arrive, so Chance, Ethan, the girls, and I helped out with ushering duties. Ethan looked really cute in his black tuxedo suit. The girls looked amazing in their bridal gowns. Stacy donned a beautiful multi-hued, lavender chiffon gown while Essence wore a similar designed gown in light multi-shaded, baby blues. An hour later, most of the guests have arrived and taken their seats, and the wedding ceremony was about to start. The orchestra on the side of the lower terrace continued to play classical music lightly in the background as we waited for the commencement of the ceremony. A half an hour later, the wedding coordinator informed us that we were ready to go.
Trance and I promptly took our positions, facing the archway and the dual spiraling stairways, anticipating the appearance of Kindred. I glanced back to see Chance settling in an aisle seat in the second row. He winked and smiled at me. The wedding ceremony soon commenced as we redirected our gazes toward the upper terrace. Two cute little flower boy and girl appeared at the top steps of the spiraling stairways. We all turned out attention to them. They looked adorable as they slowly walked down their respective stairways, scattering a trail of flower petals to create a majestic carpet of pink and red rose petals behind them. As they reached the lower terrace, Stacy and Essence came into view, standing in the same place at the top of the upper terrace stairways, and then proceeded to slowly descend the steps as the flower boy and girl continued to make their way to the lawn area.
When the flower boy and girl reached the flowered ceremonial archway, Kindred and her father appeared atop the symmetrical spiraling stairways as Stacy and Essence reached the bottom steps of the stairways. Kindred and her father slowly descended down their respective stairways. We all gasped at the heavenly sight of Kindred. She looked stunning, wearing a long elegant, white silk chiffon gown that wrapped majestically around her every curvature. A simple wreath of creamy white and pale yellow flowers adored her head. Kindred's hair pulled slightly back, showed off her beautiful, delicate face as gentle waves of blond hair, laced with small creamy flowers, cascaded down past her shoulders. The light summer breezed lightly tousled her hypnotic locks as she smiled radiantly at us. She looked like a Roman goddess descending from the heavens as she made her way down the steps. Her translucent, free-flowing outer layer of her chiffon gown blew gently in the summer breeze. Her father, dressed in a black tuxedo suit, offered his arm once they reached the bottom terrace, which she gladly accepted. Kindred walked ceremoniously towards the flowered archway, wearing an exquisite pairs of shimmering, gem-laced, Roman-inspired scandals with her father in arm and a bouquet of rose pink and creamy white flowers. Kindred and her father finally reached the ceremonial archway and formally handed her over to Trance who had the biggest smile plastered on his face. Kindred and Trance took hold of each other's hands as the clergyman approached the archway and stood before them.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today on this special occasion to share in the union of Trance Dupere and Kindred Kohl," the clergyman announced as I turned slightly sideway to look at Chance.
Our eyes met as he winked and smiled sweetly at me. We gazed steadfastly into each other's eyes as the clergyman continued his speech. Time seemed to stand still as we held each other's gaze. An incredible feeling of warmth and love overcame me as I fell into a trance-like state, hypnotized by his deep, sparkling azure eyes. I became oblivious to the surrounding and the words being uttered by the clergyman. My vivid imagination quickly took over as I started to fantasize that it was Chance and I that were standing here before the clergyman, exchanging our vows. A dreamy grin came over my face as I continued to stare deeply into Chance's mesmerizing eyes.
I finally snapped out of trance when I felt a light touch on my arm as I heard Trance uttered, "Michael, may I please have the ring?"
"Huh, yeah, of course," I replied with an apologetic smile as I reached into my pocket for his ring and handed it to him.
"Please put the ring on Kindred's finger," the clergyman instructed, "and state the vows that you have prepared."
Trance placed the ring slowly with care on Kindred's finger and held her hand gently as he gazed into her eyes.
"Kindred, my sweet, with this ring, I plead my unconditional love, devotion, and protection to you, now and always."
"Kindred, please now place the ring on Trance's finger, and cite your vows."
Kindred did as instructed.
"Trance, my love, with this ring, I give you my heart, my body and soul, now and forever," Kindred said passionately.
God, I really loved their wedding vows---so simple, sweet, and succinct.
"And so it is," the clergyman declared ceremoniously, "with the power vested in me, I now pronounce you, husband and wife. You may kiss your partner."
We all stood up, cheered and clapped as Trance and Kindred kissed each other as husband and wife.
A crowd of well-wishers congregated around the bride and groom to congratulate them. The orchestra continued to play as the guests gradually dispersed into the mansion's ballroom, which was an enormous dance hall, impeccably decorated with exquisite furnishing, artwork and artifacts. Rows of crystal chandeliers lit up the elegant ballroom, creating a stately and majestic ambience. The orchestra soon moved themselves into the ballroom as guests settled slowly at their tables that lined the perimeter of the room. The bride and groom reappeared after a quick wardrobe change. Kindred changed into a beautifulcreamy white silk charmeuse gown and wore her long blond hair up with just the right amount ofhair strands, cascading down to frame her angelic face. Trance, on the other hand, switched into a black tuxedo suit with a black bowtie. They looked so beautiful and elegant as they made their entrance into the room. We all stood up to welcome them with cheers and claps, which they reciprocated with appreciative nods and smiles. When they got to their table, Kindred's dad asked all of us to raise our champagne glasses to toast the bride and groom. He made a short sweet toast and asked the newly wedded couple to lead us in the waltz. That's right, the waltz!
Kindred's parents wanted their daughter to have a traditional wedding with a classical ballroom dance component, which I guess is more in line with their dancing style preference. They didn't want it to turn into a club dancing scene. Trance and Kindred, on the other hand, wanted to have more modern, danceable music played at their wedding. However, since both parents were billing the wedding, they agreed to compromise and concurred to an elegant, formal wedding with a dance event that incorporated both a classical ballroom component as well as a more modern dancing segment towards the end.
And thank goodness, Trance and Kindred gave us advance notice of the ballroom dance component. Since we didn't want to look like uncoordinated fools stumbling about on the dance floor, trying to keep up with the older folks, Chance, Essence, Ethan, Stacy and I figured we better sign up quickly for some ballroom dance classes. Trance and Kindred who learned how to ballroom dance a couple of years earlier also joined us to brush up on their moves. We all took a couple of quarters worth of ballroom dancing at school in preparation for this event. Both Chance and I were new to ballroom dancing, and we actually ended up really liking it. It's too bad that a lot of us younger folks overlook and devalue more traditional forms of dance. Hey, don't knock it unless you have tried it yourself! :o). We learned a bunch of ballroom dances over the quarters, including the waltz, rumba, cha cha, tango and nightclub 2-step. Chance and I are really big dance buffs so we didn't mind taking the dance classes. We even signed up for an East Coast Swing class and a Latin dance class where we learned the salsa and merengue, which were great!
The orchestra commenced the formal dance with a waltz song, entitled "Hope," I believe. Trance and Kindred got into their waltz stands near the perimeter of the room, facing the line of dance, which is counterclockwise. They held their poses, waiting for the right moment to start the waltz on the correct beat. After a few measures, they started in with their waltz. We sat, staring in awe with smiles on our faces, as they glided gracefully around the room. They looked so beautiful and elegant doing so.
There's truly something about traditional dance style that is very stately, sensual, and romantic. It's a beautiful and intimate way of dancing with a loved one. And it's so refreshing to see young people do more traditional dances who can also kick ass on a dance club floor. It's amazing what you can do with some basic ballroom, swing, and Latin dance moves under your belt. They can easily be incorporated into club dancing moves, believe it or not, and greatly expand and enrich one's repertoire of dance moves.
The song soon ended, and we clapped and cheered as they took their formal bows and walked off the dance floor.
"Wow, you guys were great!" I exclaimed.
"Yeah, those dance lessons have definitely paid off for you guys," Stacy chimed in.
"That was amazing," Chance commented.
"Truly awesome," Essence added with Ethan nodding in agreement as others came up to them to pay their compliments.
"Alright, guys, let put our dancing lessons to use and dance!" Trance exclaimed and turned to Stacy and held out his hand and asked, "Shall we?"
Stacy graciously accepted and they sashayed off to the dance floor as a rumba song came on. I, in turn, offered my hand to Kindred, and we joined them on the dance floor along with Essence and Ethan. Chance soon joined us with a girl who asked him to dance. I winked and smiled at him.
When the song ended we cordially thanked our dance partners and returned to our seats and quenched our thirsts as we sat and watched the other dancers. The orchestra soon played another waltz song. Chance turned to me and offered his hand.
"May I have this dance, sir?" he asked in gentlemanly liked voice with a sexy smile. How can I ever say no to that face and smile of his.
"Most certainly," I replied in a similar tone as he grabbed my hand and walked me to dance floor.
We got into our waltz poses as I held out my left hand for him to cup and rested my right hand on the back of his left shoulder as he rested his left hand on my right shoulder. Thus, I was the lead, and he was the follower. On the correct beat, I led him into the waltz. We waltzed gracefully around the dance floor, making extensive sweeps and coverage. I stared intensely into his soulful eyes as I guided him effortlessly across the dance floor. I felt almost lost in his deep sky blue eyes as we waltzed. It felt so good to be next to him, holding him so intimately. The other dancing couples nearly disappeared from my peripheral vision as my eyes fixed on his. And before I knew it, the song was over. I was pleasantly surprised when a number of people came up to us to compliment us on our dancing abilities.
The orchestra continued to play ballroom dance music for another hour before a DJ arrived and set up his set at a corner in the room. The room lighting dimmed slightly as ambient club lighting came on and the DJ played his first track, "When you kiss me," by Shania Twain, which he dedicated to the newly weds and prompted them to lead us into the dance. So Trance and Kindred took center floor and started us off with the dance. Chance and I and the rest of our posse as well as the other guests soon joined them on the dance floor and danced to this beautiful song. I slow danced with Chance, holding him closely to me with the side of our face almost touching. The song was followed by Marc Anthony's "My baby you," which is one of my favorite love songs. The lyrics are simply beautiful and sweet. I love dancing to these slow love songs with Chance. The world seemed to disappear around me as I rested my forehead against his, and with our lips almost touching, I would occasionally kissed him as we danced. Chance would reciprocate with very soft, light kisses as he slowly and gently nibbled my lips. I love it when he kisses me like that. The DJ then played, "Could I have this kiss forever," by Whitney Houston, which was followed by another of Shania Twain's song, "I'm jealous." I continued to dance sensually with Chance, occasionally twirling him about and catching him securely back in my arm.
After a couple of more songs, we decided to take a break and walked out back to get some fresh air. The welcoming cool night breeze greeted us as we walked down to the gardens. The grounds and gardens of the mansion looked magical at night with accent lighting. Chance led me to a small side garden, entitled, "The white moon garden," apparently because of the white palette of accent planting and the lunar theme of the garden. A circular reflective pool with candles, flowing on lotus shaped holders, accentuated the garden. Chance led me to an iron framed gazebo, intertwined with flowering, climbing vines and accent lighting. I could hear Sarah Mclachlan's song, "I love you," coming from the ballroom as we sat down at one of the semi-circular bench.
We sat there, holding hands, as we took in the view and gazed up at the stars.
"Wow, what a perfect place for a wedding," I commented as I stared up at the clear night sky filled with diamond stars.
"Yeah, it certainly is," Chance replied. "which prompted me to think about us."
Pleasantly curious by the subtexts of his comment, I immediately turned my attention to Chance and looked searchingly into his eyes. A sheepish smile started to form on his face as he stared intensely into my eyes. "Did I hear him correctly," I thought to myself. What is he trying to say?
"I'm sorry, angel, what did you just say?" I asked incredulously with a curious smile.
"I said that seeing Trance and Kindred getting married here today prompted me to think about us." Chance replied with a twinkle in his eyes as he stared steadfastly at me, awaiting my response.
"What about us?" I asked with nervous anticipation. "What are you trying to say, angel?"
"Hum...Michael, I hope you know by now how much I love you. And I don't want a still day to go by without my letting you know so. Because life is just too short and unpredictable and you never know." Chance's paused abruptly as his eyes showed hints of tears.
I immediately grabbed his hand and squeezed it, letting him know that I know what he means.
Chance quickly composed himself and continued.
"Angel, I love you so much, with all my heart and soul. When I was told that you have been in a car accident, I was completely devastated. It felt like someone had ripped out my heart and soul. My spirit sank and my heart ached at the thought of anything happens to you." Chance paused and sighed deeply before continuing on as tears started to trickle slowly down his face.
Surprised and alarmed by his tears, I quickly interrupted him, "Angel..."
"I'm okay," Chance immediately assured me as he wiped away his tears. "Please just let finish."
I nodded and squeezed his hand tightly.
"All my life, I have wondered and asked God why he had made me gay, why I was bestowed the burden of being gay, to have to deal with the prejudice, the hatred, and the discriminations by others because of my sexuality, and He finally answered me," Chance continued as tears trickled down his face again, which prompted me to tear up. "He finally showed me the reason...and it is in the form of you, angel. You. He has made me gay so that I could be with you...so that I could understand the joy and beauty of loving another man and being his life partner. And you are my life partner, Michael. You are the best thing that ever happened to me. You are my heart and soul. You are the air that I breathe, the spirit within me. So many people search all their lives for their soulmate, their true love, which is why I feel so blessed that my search was over the day I met you, angel. So what I'm trying to say is that it would be my honor, my privilege, my joy to be your wedded life partner, if you would have me." Chance finally finished as he pulled out a ring from his suit pocket and proposed, "Angel, would you marry me?"
I stared incredulously at the ring and then at him, completely flabbergasted and speechless. "Oh, my God," I thought to myself. "Oh, my God!"
To be continued.
