The Series

Previously:

"Well, good night!" I said as I leaned in to kissed him good night. Damn his lips tasted so good. After a long passionate kissed, Chance got out of the car and waved me good-bye as I drove away.

I quickly got home and stripped down to my boxer shorts and hopped into bed. It had been a long day, and my body was ready for bed. I quickly dozed off as dreamy vision of Chance danced in my head.

Chapter 9:

Chance's head was spinning as he walked up to the door of his apartment. He felt like he was on Cloud Nine. He just had the best date of his life! Chance placed his right hand over his heart as he closed his eyes and thought of Michael and tonight date. He let out a long, deep sigh of elation and satisfaction as he fumbled for his keys and opened the apartment door. As Chance entered the apartment, he heard grunting and moaning noises coming from Dade's room. Chance smiled and shook his head as he took off his shoes, realizing that Dade has company over again. Chance quietly made his way to the hallway bathroom, stripped down and hopped into the shower. In less than15 minutes, he stepped out, fully refreshed and ready for bed.

As Chance entered the living room with just a white cotton towel draped around his slender, defined waist, he could hear that Dade and his guest were still at it like rabbits. God, can they grunt and moan any louder, Chance thought to himself as he went into his room and closed the door. He quickly put on a pair of cotton boxer shorts and hopped into bed. What a night, Chance thought as he closed his eyes and tried to sleep, but to no avail. Chance couldn't seem to fall asleep as visions of Michael and the date played back on the movie screen of his mind. Chance smiled to himself as these images flash back, warming his heart and soul. But after about half an hour of tossing and turning, Chance was getting irritated. To compound his sleepless situation was Dade and his bed companion's very loud and pronounced, orgasmic exultation. But fatigue soon set in as Chance's body slowly succumbed to sleep.

Chance woke up late the following morning. It was around 11 o'clock when he finally rolled out of bed and stumbled out to the hallway bathroom. Dade was in the living room, eating his morning cereal, and watching reruns of "Friends."

"Hey, morning, guy!" Dade greeted his roommate with a big grin. "You're up late today!"

"Well, I had problems sleeping last night," Chance said matter-of-factly and smiled as he continued, "because someone was having a fuck fest and made so much God damn noise that I thought the roof would cave in!" Chance smiled wickedly at Dade.

Dade started to laugh. "I'm so sorry, dude! Didn't realized that we were making so much noise!" Dade gave Chance his innocent look.

"You know, I think we should sound proof your bedroom or something, God knows, you get more action than a porn star!" Chance remarked jokingly.

Dade busted out laughing.

"Who were you with last night?" Chance as curiously.

"Oh, with this cute guy I met at a party last night," Dade replied nonchalantly as he continued to munch on his cereal.

"So are you going to see him again?"

"Maybe, I don't know." Dade replied casually as he turned his attention back to the TV.

Chance went into the bathroom and immediately emptied his full bladder. He quickly brushed his teeth and splashed cold water on his face to wake himself up. When he came out, Dade was in the kitchen, busy washing his dishes. He looked so studly standing there in front of the kitchen sink, half-naked with nothing on but a pair of shorts and a silver medallion on a purple satin string, dangling around his neck at heart level as he wrapped up his domestic chore. Dade finished rinsing the last glass and turned to face Chance with his sexy, warm smile.

"So how was your date last night with Michael?" Dade asked curiously.

"It was great, Dade!" Chance replied excitedly as he poured milk into his bowl of cereal. "We had a great time! We went to see "American Beauty" and then grabbed some Chinese food afterward. And on our way to the Chinese restaurant, we saw this homeless man, rummaging through the alley dumpster for food. And guess what Michael did?" Chance asked Dade eagerly.

"No, way!" Dade replied, anticipating Chance's response.

"Yeah, way. He bought the guy a take-out and gave it to him!"

"Wow, that was very nice of him!" Dade remarked, pleasantly surprised by Michael's kind gesture.

"Yeah, and when he gave the guy the food, it reminded me of you!" Chance smiled and looked at Dade. "You're the only other person I know that would take the time to do that!" Dade smiled sheepishly as he was pleasantly surprised by the nice compliment.

"Michael sounds like a great guy!" Dade injected.

"Yeah, he seems to be." Chance immediately agreed as he stared reflectively at Dade's silver medallion. The silver medallion, a bit larger than the size of a half dollar, glistened as the soft, morning sunlight strikes its matted finish surface. It seems to rest peacefully against Dade's tanned, bare skin at heart level. Chance has always seen Dade wearing it, but this was the first time that he got a good, close-up look at this intriguing medallion with a hieroglyphic symbol at its center.

"Hey Dade, that's a great medallion you have there!" Chance remarked as he continued to eat his cereal. "I never see you take it off! Who gave it to?"

Dade looked down at the silver medallion as he picked it up with his right hand and rubbed it gently. Dade's face suddenly turned solemn and reflective. He took a deep breath before answering Chance's questions.

Chance sat up attentively, awaiting Dade's response.

"My mom gave it to me when I was little because I had problems sleeping at night. I was afraid of the dark. She said that it was a magical shield that would keep me safe in the darkness, and that I have nothing to be afraid of." Dade explained as he stared reflectively into the distance. Suddenly tears started to well up in his eyes as memories of his mom flooded into his consciousness. It has been almost 10 years since his mom passed away of cancer, but his heart still aches every time he thinks of her beautiful face, compassionate touch, and sweet voice. God, he missed her so much. "And that's why I never take it off. It's a token of her love and my last link to her. And tomorrow is her anniversary." Dade finally finished. He could no longer hold back the tears. They streamed down silently down his beautiful, vulnerable face as he turned away to hide the tears.

Chance quickly got up and gave Dade a warm, long embrace. "That's wonderful Dade. She must have loved you very much." Chance tried to console Dade as he felt the warm tears of his buddy rolled down his shoulder.

After what seems like an eternity, Dade finally broke the embrace. "Thanks!" Dade declared with a strained smile as he wiped away his tears and composed himself.

Chapter 10:

I finally woke up around 10:30 AM. I lay in bed for a while before getting out of bed. I smiled as images of my date with Chance last night rushed back into my consciousness. I can still taste his sweet lips and smell the subtle scent of his Fahrenheit cologne. Ten minutes later, I rolled out of bed and went into the bathroom to take care of my morning toiletry necessity. After my morning stretching ritual and a light breakfast of Odwalla Superfood drink, a couple slices of banana-nut bread and fruits, I decided to head off to the Rec Hall for a short resistance workout. After the brief weigh training session, I headed downtown to pick up some fresh produces from the Saturday Farmer Market before heading home. And all a while, my mind kept flashing images of Chance's beautiful face which would immediately bring a smile to my face. When I got home I decided to call Chance to see if he wants to join me for dinner later this evening.

"Hello!" Chance's sexy voice answered the phone.

"Hi Chance, this is Michael!" I announced into the receiver.

"Hey Michael, what's up?"

"Not much!" I replied. "Just want to let you know that I had a great time last night!"

"Yeah, me too. It was the best date I had for a long time, so thank you!"

"My pleasure! Listen, I was wondering if you wanted to join me for dinner later tonight?" I asked.

"Yeah, definitely!" Chance replied excitedly.

"Great! How does going to a steak house sounds to you?" I suggested.

"That's fine with me."

"Great, then I'll swing by and pick you up at around 6:30PM.?" I offered.

"Yeah, that will work!"

"Alright, I'll see you later Chance!"

"Okay bye, Michael!"

"Bye!"

With that we hung up. I still have several hours before dinner time, so I figured I should make myself useful and get some chores and homework done. After a couple hours of doing homework, I had enough of school work for one day. So I decided to take a break and work on the series I'm writing for the Archive. God, I would never thought in a million years that one day I would be writing a gay-theme story! And here I am, doing it. It's amazing how things turn out sometimes! Six o'clock finally rolled around, and it was time to get ready for dinner. After changing into a pair of black corduroy pants, and comfortable gray cotton-knit sweater, I was out the door. I arrived at Chance's place about 15 minutes later and knocked on his apartment door.

"Hey, Michael!" Chance greeted me with his warm embrace and smile. He looked great, wearing a purple rayon shirt with black cargo pants.

"Hi!" I smiled backed as we released each other from our embrace. As I entered the apartment, I could hear the magnificent, soaring sound of Anggun's "Snow on the Sahara," playing softly in the background.

"Hey Dade, how's it going!" I said as I waved to Dade who was sitting at the dining table, apparently studying.

"Good, Michael! Just busy cramming for my test next week. And yourself?" Dade asked as he flashed me his sexy smile.

"Great!" I replied happily and smiled back. "God, I LOVE this song!"

"Oh yeah?" Dade asked excitedly. "You've heard of Anggun?"

"Absolutely!" I replied matter-of-factly. "She's an amazing vocalist, and "Snow on the Sahara" is definitely one of my all time favorites!"

Dade's eye lit up with excitement as he smiled beamingly at me, apparently surprised by our common taste of music.

Chance flashed me his beautiful smile and injected, "It's Dade's favorite too!"

"Well Chance, forget about all the bad things that I've said about him, I think I'm beginning to like this guy!" Dade said, jokingly as he sported a broad grin on his face.

"Well, I hope not too much for my sake!" Chance replied jokingly as we all started to laugh.

"Are you about ready to go?" I asked Chance as I glanced at my watch.

"Yeah, let me grab my wallet and keys!" Chance said as he turned around and walked to his bedroom.

"Hey Dade, do you want to take a break and join us for dinner?" I asked casually.

Dade's warm brown eye's lit up, apparently pleasantly surprised by my invitation.

"Uhm...," Dade paused briefly as he contemplated the invitation, "I don't want to intrude!"

"Not at all!" I quickly assured him. "Chance and I are just going out for dinner. It's not a date, so you won't be intruding!"

"Uhm...Dade hesitated for a couple more seconds, still undecided as to whether he should go or not.

"Come on, Dade, join us for dinner!" Chance urged as he entered the living room with his wallet and keys.

"Uhm....okay." Dade finally surrendered to our offer. "Where are you guys going?"

"I was thinking about going to a steak house!" I replied.

"Oh!" Dade's facial expression changed from excitement to disappointment. "Never mind."

I immediately looked over to Chance with a perplex look.

"Dade is a vegetarian." Chance graciously informed me. "I complete forgot that we're going to a steak house."

"Oh...then we can go to a vegetarian house instead, if you don't mind Chance!" I suggested as I made eye contact with Dade and Chance to get their response.

"No, not at all! Chance immediately retorted as his eyes smiled at me. "I don't mind eating vegetarian food!"

Dade's eyes lit up like a Christmas tree, apparently stunned by my suggestion.

"That's very nice of you, Michael, but you don't have to change your dinner plans because of me!" Dade politely protested.

"No, I don't. But I want to." I smiled sincerely at him. "Besides, I always enjoy a good vegetarian meal, now and then," I said matter-of-factly. "So are you going to join us or not!"

Dade smiled. "Ok, thanks!"

"You bet!"

"Which vegetarian house were you think of?" Chance asked as he grabbed his jacket.

"How about Vegetarian Gourmet?"

"Great choice! It's one of Dade's favorites!" Chance smiled at Dade.

Twenty-five minutes later, we arrived at Vegetarian Gourmet. The place was packed as usual. We had to wait for about 15 minutes before we were seated. The restaurant interior was impeccably decorated in warm, pastel tones and textures with Eastern artifacts and decor on the walls. We were seated at a small, circular table near the far corner.

"Have you been here before?" Dade asked me with a smile.

"Yeah, a few times!" I replied. "And you, Chance?"

"Yeah, a number of times with Dade." Chance replied matter-of-factly. "They have excellent food here!"

Dade nodded in agreement as the waiter approached our table with menus.

"Well, hello boys!" the cheerful waiter greeted us as if he knows us.

The young waiter stood about 5'10" with boyish, good looks, dark blond hair and a nicely toned body. His tranquil blue eyes stared at me before redirecting them towards my dinner companions. Dade and Chance turned slightly around to face the cute waiter, and they both had a pleasantly surprised grin on their faces.

"Hey, Behrd!" they both replied almost at the simultaneously.

"What are you doing here?" Chance asked with a beautiful smile on his cute face.

"I just got a job here!" Behrd replied grinningly.

"Wow, that's great, Behrd!" Dade exclaimed.

Behrd smiled and shifted his eye contact to me.

"Oh, I'm sorry!" Chance exclaimed as he looked at me. "Michael, this is Behrd. He's our next door neighbor and fellow student at the University. And Behrd, this my friend, Michael. He's also a student here!"

I stood up and shook his hand firmly. "Nice to meet you!" I said with a smile.

"Same here!" Behrd smiled back.

"Can I get you guys something to drink as you peruse through the menu?" Behrd asked as he gave us our menus and whipped out his waiter's writing pad and a pen.

"Yeah, I'll have the fresh coconut drink." Dade replied.

"And I'll have the Thai iced tea." Chance exclaimed.

"I'll have the same as Dade." I replied with a half smile.

"Ok, I'll be right back with your drinks, and I'll take your order then!" Behrd graciously announced.

"Thanks!" we said unanimously.

Five minutes later, Behrd came back with our drinks and took down our respective orders.

We sat and casually chit chat as we waited for our food to arrive.

"So what are you studying Dade?" I asked as looked into his soulful, brown eyes.

"I'm studying Psychology with a minor in Creative Writing." Dade replied as he sipped his drink.

"Wow, that's great!" I exclaimed, pleasantly surprised that we had another interest in common.

Dade smiled. "What about you?"

"I'm studying Creative Writing with a minor in Eastern Philosophy."

"Oh yeah, that's cool!" Dade grinned at me. "What kind of writing do you do?"

"I write mostly inspirational non-fiction stuff, but I'm currently trying my hands at fiction to see if I can do it." I replied as I took a sip of my coconut drink. The coconut drink was excellent with thin slices of translucent coconut meat.

"Oh yeah, what are you working on?" Dade asked me curiously as he spooned one of the fresh coconut meat into his mouth.

"I'm currently working on a series for the Nifty Archive." I replied with a slight smile. "Have you heard of it?"

"Yeah, of course!" Chance finally jumped into the conversation with a big grin on his face. "I didn't know that you were writing for the Archive!"

"Wow, that's great, Michael. I got to check it out sometimes!" Dade exclaimed excitedly as Chance nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, that's wonderful Michael!" Chance added as he reached over to touch my hand under the table. "Dade is too modest to admit this but," Chance paused and smiled, "he's a great writer!"

Dade gave him the evil's eyes, but it was too late. The cat was out of the bag.

"Oh, really!" I exclaimed curiously. "What genre do you write, Dade!"

"I dabbled a little with poetry and non-fiction," Dade replied nonchalantly as he continued to enjoy his drink.

"Well, I would love to read some of your works sometimes!" I retorted excitedly.

Dade simply smiled. "Sure, anytime!"

We continued to converse, effortlessly flowing from one topic to the next, getting to know each other more personally when Behrd finally arrived with our food about 20 minutes later.

"Well, enjoy fellas and let me know if you need anything else!" Behrd graciously offered with a friendly smile and left us to our vegetarian meals.

The entrees were beautifully displayed on fine china, and the smell was quite appetizing. We quickly dug into our food as we continued to enjoy each other company and started to chat more on personal matters.

During our conversation, I found out much about Dade and his family. He grew up in Hawaii and attended the same high school as Chance where the two met and quickly became best friends. Dade became aware of his bisexuality while in middle school and explored his sexual curiosity beginning his freshman year in high school. I also found out that he lost his beloved mom to cancer at the tender age of 12 and his dad to a car accident, caused by a drunken driver, at the age of 15. His sweet grand-ma raised him during his remaining minor years before passing away in her sleep a couple of years ago. The poor guy, my heart goes out to him. When he told me this, I instinctively reached over and touched his left hand to offer my condolence. He strained a smile, and Chance didn't seem to mind my innocent gesture. I could see the silent sadness in his beautiful puppy eyes, and hear the heartache in his solemn tone as he shared his life story with me. Dade seemed to be a really sweet and generous guy. I must admit, a part of me was a bit envious of Chance for having such a great friend.

After dinner, we went to a local ice cream shop for desserts. It was a beautiful, clear night with a light cool breeze. The full moon shone radiantly down upon us as we sat and ate our ice creams and continued to share our personal life stories. This is what life is about I thought to myself as I slowly savored my whip cream, nut covering sundae: good company and fantastic hot fudge sundaes with all the works (lol)! Life is too short for anything less, folks!

Chapter 11:

I woke up the following morning to the obnoxious ringing of my phone. I glanced at my alarm clock as I lazily picked up the receiver. It was already after ten.

"Hello!" I mumbled irritatingly into the receiver.

"Hi, Michael, it's Essence!" the soft, sweet voice of a close friend of mine greeted me. "Sorry to have waken you up."

Essence is Stacy's roommate who has become a really good, close friend of mine. She is one of the sweetest and kind-hearted persons that I know. She is absolutely as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside, a wonderful spiritual being. I totally adored her!

"It's okay, Essence." I replied as I rolled back to bed with the receiver held next to my ear. "What's up?"

"Huh...Stacy and I are planning on going clubbing tonight, and we were wondering if you would like to join us?" Essence inquired.

"Which club are you going to?"

"Club Oasis!" Essence replied excitedly.

"Sure, that sounds good!" I replied.

"Great, we'll pick up around eight tonight!"

"Oh, would you mind if I bring a friend?" I asked as I thought of Chance.

"Of course not! Essence quickly retorted. "His name wouldn't be Chance, would it? She playfully inquired as she lightly giggled into the receiver.

"How did you know?" I started to ask when I quickly realized who must have told her. Big mouth Stacy!

"I'm psychic, baby!" Essence playfully responded. "A little bird by the name of Stacy told me."

"Well, somebody needs to tape that beak of hers!" I jokingly suggested as I lightly laughed.

"You know there's no secret between us!" Essence reminded me.

"Yes, of course, how can I forget." I smiled into the receiver.

"So do bring, Chance! I would love to me him. I want to see if he is as hot as Stacy say you said he is!"

We both started to laugh.

"Ok, I'll see you later."

"Alright, bye Essence."

"Bye!"

I quickly hung up the phone and rolled back to bed, trying to get a few more winks before getting out of bed. Twenty minutes later, I finally rolled out of bed and jumped into the shower. The luke-warm, pressurized water felt good as it hit and trickled down my naked body, arousing me as I thought of Chance, and what it would be like touching his naked, sculpted body. It wasn't too long before I had a full hardon. My manhood ached for attention. I quickly complied and instinctively wrapped my right hand around my engorged cock, and started to jack off. God, it so great to be blessedly equipped with such a fun, play tool. So count your blessings guys, we men are truly lucky (smiling)! I decided to take it nice and easy, doing my best to prolong the inevitable as I continued to fantasy about making love to Chance. About ten minutes later, I exploded my load all over the shower wall in front of me as I heaved heavily, trying to catch my breath. I stepped out of the shower 15 minutes later, fully awake and refreshed. I figured I better call Chance to see if he want to go clubbing tonight. I autodialed his number as I put on a clean boxer shorts. Someone picked up the phone after three rings.

"Hello," someone other than Chance answered; so I figured it must be Dade.

"Hi Dade, this Michael!" I replied.

"Oh, hi Michael! How's it going? Dade's deep, manly voice inquired.

"Great, thanks! I quickly replied. "Is Chance there?"

"Yeah, just a second!" Dade retorted.

A few seconds later, Chance answered the phone.

"Hi, Michael!" Chance greeted me. "What's up?"

"A couple friends of mine and I are going to Club Oasis tonight at around eight, and I was wondering if you want to come?"

"Sure!" Chance exclaimed excitingly.

"Great, we'll swing by your place around eight!" I informed him.

"Sounds good. I'll see you then!"

"Ok, talk to you later, Chance!"

"Alright, bye Michael."

"Bye!"

Yes, I thought to myself as I hung up the phone. I can't wait to see Chance on the dance floor tonight, strutting his stuff, and of course, dancing with him! I quickly snapped out of my daydreaming when I felt my stomach growling. Breakfast time!

After my morning breakfast, I figured I better get some chores done before tonight outing. So I vacuumed the apartment, washed the dishes and did my laundry. Then, it was time to do my weekly grocery shopping. I soon came back home with about a week worth of grocery. Afterward, I decided that I better start writing the paper for my philosophy class. The day passed quickly by as I sat and wrote the paper. Soon it was time to get ready to go clubbing. So I threw on a pair of gray pant and a reddish maroon clubbing shirt with a gray stripe at chest level. I finger combed my hair with some light hair gel, and put on my black, leather, one- bucket shoes, and I was ready to go. A little after eight, I heard knocking on my door. I quickly opened the door to find Essence standing there with a big smile on her face. She is a sight for sore eyes with her jet black hair, beautiful, soulful brown eyes, and luscious lips on her sweet, elegant face. She looked stunning in a red, silk, flower-embroidered, Oriental style top with a black, slip dress.

"Hi handsome!" Essence said as she gave me a warm embrace and kiss.

"Hey, beautiful!" I replied as I kissed her. "You look great!"

"Why, thank you! You don't look so bad yourself, cutie!" she smiled. "Ready to go?"

"Yeah, let me grab my keys."

I quickly grabbed my keys, locked the door, and we were on our way. Stacy was in her red car, waiting for us.

"Hey, Stace!" I smiled as I got into the back seat and gave Stacy a kiss while Essence took the front seat.

"Hi Michael!" Stacy greeted me with her angelic smile as she kissed me back. Stacy looked great too in a baby blue top with a stylish black bottom.

Twenty minutes, we arrived at Chance's place. Stacy parked the car as I got out to get Chance. After a few knocks, Chance opened the door. He looked so damn handsome, sporting an olive green club shirt with dark, brown pants, and brown leather shoes.

"Hi!" Chance greeted me with a warm embrace and kiss.

"Hey, Chance!" I replied as I hugged him tightly and kissed him back. "All set?"

"Yeah, let's get out of here!" Chance smiled as he locked his door.

We soon filed into Stacy's car. Stacy and Essence had a big grin on their faces when they saw Chance.

"Ladies, this is Chance! I started the introduction. "Chance, these are my lovely, close friends, Stacy and Essence."

"Well, it's nice to finally meet you, Chance!" Stacy said sincerely as she gives me a you-lucky- dog-you-look and shook Chance's hand.

"Very nice to me you too!" Essence injected as she shook his hand. "Well, Michael certainly did not exaggerated when he described you!

Chance immediately blushed. "Great to meet both of you!" Chance smiled sheepishly as he settled into his seat and buckled up.

We chit chat casually as Stacy cruised down the freeway towards the City to Club Oasis when I heard Mandy Moore's excellent new song, "I wanna be with you," playing on the radio. I totally love this song. It described perfectly how I feel about Chance at the moment. The dance's version of it is awesome too!

"Turn that up, Essence!" I immediately requested.

I turned and looked at Chance's beautiful face as Mandy's lovely voice filled the car. Chance turned and flashed me his sexy smile as he grabbed my hand. God, it feels so good, holding his strong, masculine hand. I smiled back as we stared into each other soul. Apparently, he felt the same way too. I could see Stacy smiling as she caught a glimpse of us in her rear-view mirror.

We finally arrived at Club Oasis a little over an hour later and after some waiting we made our way into the club. We were immediately bombarded by the music of Miss Jane's, "It's fine day." We started to groove to the music and danced our way to the bar, and ordered our drinks. After some searching, Stacy found us a table, and we quickly took our seats as we sat and checked out the scene. The house is pretty packed tonight. I was sipping my drink when Amber's "Sexual" came on which immediately provoked a shriek from Essence as she grabbed my hand and led me to the dance floor.

"Come on guys, let's dance!" Essence commanded.

Chance and Stacy quickly followed us to the dance floor. I gave Essence a quick twirl as we started to dance, jamming to this wonderful song. Chance was rocking with Stacy. He looked great on the dance floor. The guy definitely has the moves. He really knows to how to work that hip of his, shaking his bon bon! After a couple of songs, we switched partners and then danced in a group. After about half an hour of dancing, we were ready for a break as we settled back at our table. I promptly went to the bar to order each of us drinks. As I gave the bartender my orders, someone from behind me startled me with a bear hug. I quickly turned my head to see who it was.

I turned to see my pal, Trance, grinning at me. He loosed his embrace just enough to allow me to turn around and hugged him tightly in return.

"Hey, Michael!" Trance greeted me with a quick peck on the cheek.

"Hey, Trance, what a pleasant surprise!" I smiled beamingly at him as I returned the friendly peck on his cheek. "What are you doing here in town. I thought you and Kyndred were going to be out of town until tomorrow!"

"We decided to come back earlier!" Trance exclaimed as he flashed me his adorable smile.

I guess I should tell you guys about Trance. Trance is one of my closest friends. And no, he is not gay! Believe me, I wish he was many times! Anyway, we met in the dorm during my freshman year. He was my roommate (lucky me), and I had a really bad crush on him at the time. He is so damn good-looking with brownish blond hair, aqua-blue eyes, full, sensual lips and a smile that can light up a room. His 6'2" lengthy, surfer body has all the right amount of muscles in all the right place with a washboard abs and a face that is delightful to behold. But what I love and impresses me the most about Trance is how unaffected he is with his good- looks. He is not one those pretty boys that spend hours grooming themselves. He is one of the nicest, kindest, and open-minded persons I know. Trance is very self-assured (not in an arrogant way) and secured with himself and his masculinity. Unlike most guys, he is not afraid to be affectionate towards others including guys. Much of this has to do with his amazing upbringing by his very affectionate and loving parents who instilled these wonderful qualities into him. They are wonderful, loving, non-judgmental people. If only all of us have parents like them, this world would be a much more loving and tolerable place! Ignorance breeds intolerance.

"So where's Kyndred?" I asked curiously.

"She's in the ladies' room." Trance said matter-of-factly. "Oh, there she is!"

I turned around to see Kyndred's stunning model-like silhouette approached me. Kyndred is a heavenly sight. She has long, flowing blond hair with a delicate, model-like face, a pair of amazing lips, and deep, forest green eyes. She had on a long, elegant, lavender silk dress that stunningly shows off her every curvatures. She reminds me of Mandy Moore! I also met her during my freshman year in the dorm. She was Stacy's dorm roommate, and we started to hang out together and became really close friends over the years. Kyndred quickly smiled when she saw me and extended her arms to greet me.

"Hey, you!" Kyndred said as gave me a kiss and a warm hug.

"Hi, gorgeous!" I exclaimed as I kissed her back. "So nice to see you here!"

"Yeah, what a wonderful surprise!" she smiled radiantly at me. "Are you here alone?"

"No, I'm with Stacy, Essence and a special friend of mine!" I smiled shyly at her.

"A special friend, huh!" Kyndred asked with big smile on her face as Trance gave me a curious look and smile.

"Well, let's go and meet this special friend of his!" Trance quickly suggested to Kyndred as I grabbed the drinks and led them back to the table.

Stacy and Essence quickly stood up with grins on their surprised faces when they saw Trance and Kyndred approaching.

"Hey guys!" Stacy smiled as she gave Kyndred and Trance a tight hug and kiss. Essence quickly followed suit and greeted the two with kisses.

"We weren't expecting you two until tomorrow!" Essence said smilingly.

Kyndred and Trance's eyes quickly shifted to Chance who was standing back, smiling at the our cheerful reunion. I guess that's my cue to introduce them to my mystery date.

"Kyndred, Trance, I want you to me my friend, Chance!" I proudly smiled. "Chance, these are my wonderful, close friends, Kyndred and Trance!"

"Nice to meet you!" Chance said as he extended his hand and shook both of their hands.

"The pleasure is ours!" Kyndred quickly replied with a big smile on her face as Trance smiled and nodded in agreement. Kyndred leaned over and whispered into my ears, "He's gorgeous, Michael!" I smiled noddingly. "I thought you were taking a reprise from the dating scene!" Kyndred asked curiously.

"Yeah, I was!" I smiled. "But with a face like his, can you blame me for cutting it short!"

"Good to meet you Chance!" Trance exclaimed as we all sat down.

We sat and chatted a little bit when Trance and Kyndred suddenly took hold of each other hands and declared that they have an announcement to make. Our eyes widen as we sat up attentively, eagerly waiting their announcement. Trance and Kyndred looked at each other and smiled as they made their announcement.

"Well, guys..." Kyndred begins with a big grin, "we're getting marry!"

"Wow, that's great you two!" I said as I kissed Kyndred and hugged Trance. "Congratulation!"

The others quickly join in and congratulate them with hugs and kisses. They truly deserve and belong with each other. I knew that it was just a matter of time before they would get marry. They have gone steady for about 3 years now, since they met during freshman year. It's so great to see them finally tying the knot!

"And..." Trance looked at me with a wicked smile, "I was wondering if you would be my best man!"

I was speechless. "Ah....yes, of course!" I managed to squeak out. "It would be an honor!" I exclaimed, completely stun.

"Thanks!" Trance came over and hugged me tightly as he gave me another peck on the cheek.

"You bet!" I said, smiling beamingly at him.

The others smiled and cheered as we loosen our embrace.

"And Stacy, would you please be my maid of honor!" Kyndred smiled at Stacy.

"Yes, absolutely!" Stacy jumped up with joy and gave Kyndred a tight hug and kiss.

"So when is the big date?" Essence inquired excitingly.

"Oh, next summer." Trance declared.

"Oh, wow, that's great!" Chance injected with a smile.

We sat and chat some more as we get the details on their wedding plans when I heard New Order's "True Faith" playing which immediately prompted me to want to dance. So I quickly pulled Kyndred to the dance floor and the others immediately followed. Kyndred is a wonderful dancer. There's an exotic and sensual quality to her dancing. She's not afraid to pull out all the stops and really lose herself in the music. I'm sort of like that when I'm on the dance floor. I completely get lost in the moment and just have a blast dancing my heart out. Then Whitney Houston's dance version of "My love is your love" came on, and we started to dance in a group and exchanging dance partners throughout the next few songs. Chance is a great dancer. He really knows how to move to the music and uses every inch of his body in various dance moves. Then suddenly, the mesmerizing, ethereal sound of Dido's "Here with me" started to fill the dance room. All night, I have been dancing with the girls and indirectly with Chance. But when this song came on, I had this indescribable urge to dance just with Chance. And nothing was going to stop me! It was so weird (must be the alcohol or something)! But when the song came on, the room suddenly seemed to began spinning slowly as everyone around me seems to be moving in slow-mode, and Chance was the only person in clear focus as I looked across the room and made eye contact with him. He seemed to be feeling the same irresistible, centrifugal force that was pulling us closer on the dance floor as Dido's haunting sounds surrounded us. We slowly moved towards each other as I held out my right hand, inviting him to dance with me. He extended out his arms, and we began dancing intimately together. I looked into his soulful, sky blue eyes as he stared intensely into mine. At that moment, time seems to crawl slowly as we held each other closely, slow dancing to Dido's hypnotic music. And I didn't have a single worry in the world as we stared into each other soul. I knew at that moment that I love Chance, and always will (Oh, my God....did I just said the L-word lol)! There seemed to be just me and Chance; everyone else was just a blur. Suddenly, reality sets in as my senses quickly rushed back to normal as I realized what we were doing. I abruptly turned to see my friends standing there with a pleasantly surprised smile on their faces as I continued to dance with Chance. Slowly, the other people's faces came back into focus and some of them weren't as friendly and pleasant. I saw a few guys and girls gave us looks of disgust as they got off the dance floor. Chance must have also noticed because he gently guided my face back to his as he stared intensely into my eyes. His eyes smiled at me, encouraging me to let it go, and reassured me that everything will be okay. But a part of me was still a bit bothered and angry at those venom stares. The song soon ended, and we slowly loosen our embrace. We stood there smiling at each other as my friends coralled around us, obviously trying to shelter us from those dirty stares.

"You guys looked so adorable dancing together!" Essence exclaimed as she kissed me and Chance.

"Yeah, you two looked great together!" Stacy quickly added as Kyndred and Trance winked at me and nodded with a sincere smile.

"Thanks guys, you're the best!" I gave them all a hug as we walked of the dance floor.

We hung around a little bit longer and chit chat. After about 15 minutes, Stacy suggested that we better get going since she has early classes tomorrow. We quickly said our good-byes to Kyndred and Trance as we filed into Stacy's car. Our designated driver, Stacy, quickly sped away onto the freeway, heading back to the University. The ride back home was a uneventful. I must have been really tired and dozed off during the latter part of the trip because the next thing I knew, we were at Chance's apartment complex. He woke up me up with a passionate, good-night kiss. I kissed him back deeply as we said our good-nights.

"It was great meeting both of you!" Chance smiled sheepishly as he turned to see Stacy and Essence gawking at us. "Good night ladies!" Chance said as he got out of the car.

"Likewise!" Stacy concurred.

"Good night, Chance!" Essence and I said simultaneously as we waved him good-bye.

I had a big grin on my face when Stacy and Essence turned and looked at me with fat smirks on their faces.

"What?!!" I exclaimed innocently as I smiled and shrugged my shoulders. "Never seems two guys french kiss!"

"Well, yeah!" Stacy retorted. "but that's not why we are grinning!"

"It's just that we never see you so happy!" Essence injected with a smile. "We are very happy for you!"

"Thanks, you guys!" I smiled as I leaned forward to hug them. "It means a lot to me to have friends like you two. I loved you so much!"

They smiled and hugged me. After a quick ride, Stacy arrived at my place and dropped me off.

"Well, good-night ladies," I said as I got out of the car. "Thanks for everything!"

"You bet!" Stacy said as she and Essence waved me good-bye.

What a night, I thought to myself as I made my way to my apartment. I finally danced with Chance!

Chapter 12:

Chance was feeling a bit tipsy as he fumbled for his keys and opened the apartment door. The apartment was pitch black except for the rays of light, streaming through Dade's crack opened door. Chance quickly flipped off his brown, leather shoes. As he walked lazily towards his room, he could hear Alanis Morrisette's ballad of truth, "That I would be good," blaring from Dade's room. Chance decided to poke his head in and say good-night. He gently knocked on the door as he pushed it open.

"Hey Dade, how it going?" Chance asked with a smile as he pushed open the door.

Dade was sitting on the edge of his bed, completely startled by the Chance's presence, as he turned his head to see a smiling Chance standing at his doorway.

Chance's friendly smirk quickly disappeared when he saw Dade's teary, red eyes. He looked like a vulnerable deer, caught in headlights, completely speechless. Dade was shirtless with only his boxer shorts on. Chance quickly rushed to his side.

"What's wrong?" Chance started to ask with concern in voice, but he immediately figured it out when he saw Dade holding a picture of his mom in his right hand. It's Dade's mom's anniversary he quickly recalled. And he's obviously missing her.

"Nothing!" a startled Dade managed to squeak out as he quickly wiped his tears.

Chance quickly sat next to Dade and wrapped his masculine arms around him. Dade instinctively protested the embrace at first. But he quickly surrendered as he allowed his body to take comfort and refuge in Chance's warm embrace.

"It's okay, Dade. I'm here for you buddy. Just let it all out. You don't need to hold it back." Chance whispered as he held Dade tightly in his arms, doing his best to comfort his distraught buddy. "It's okay, Dade. I'm here." Chance continued to reassure his best friend.

Dade let out a deep, silent sob. Chance embraced his even tighter as he felt the warm tears of his buddy trickled down his back. This almost made him want to cry, to somehow take away some of Dade's heartache and pain. It hurts him to see his buddy so sad and teary.

"I miss her so much Chance," Dade finally spoke in between sobs. "And it hurts so much."

"I know, Dade, and I'm here for you....as long as you need me to be, okay!" Chance whispered softly into Dade's ears as he allowed Dade's head to rest on his shoulder. Dade nodded as he continued to weep silently.

After a few minutes, Chance decided to shift their sitting position. He slowly loosen his hold on Dade and gently allowed Dade's upper body to drop gradually on the bed as he lifted Dade's legs up onto the bed. Dade is now lying on his side, almost in a fetus position. Chance reached over and turned off the nearby CD player and nightstand light. Then, he quickly stripped down to his boxer shorts and got into bed with Dade. Chance lay on his side, spooning Dade's body as he continued to embrace him tightly. Dade could feel the warmth of Chance's body as his body relaxes. Chance held Dade in his arms until his buddy felt asleep.

It was around 10:30AM when Chance woke up the next morning in Dade's bed. It took him a few seconds before it dawned on him where he was. As the fog of his mind slowly cleared up, memories of last night event quickly surfaced into his consciousness. He abruptly turned to look for Dade, but Dade was not in bed. Chance quickly hopped out of bed, and dashed out into the hallway to find Dade standing in the kitchen, apparently cooking breakfast! Chance smiled when he saw his sexy buddy.

"Hey, good morning, sleepy head!" Dade greeted Chance with a fat grin as he flipped the omelette.

"Hey, morning!" Chance replied, smiling as he scratched his head. "What's cooking?"

"Omelettes and french toasts!" Dade exclaimed with a big smile on his face.

"Smells good!"

"Good, because I'm making you breakfast!" Dade said matter-of-factly as he smiled beamingly at Chance.

"Why?" Chance retorted, a bit surprised by Dade's generous gesture.

Dade gave him a you-know-why-smile. "For being there for me last night, for being such a great friend!"

Chance simply smiled. "Ok, I need to use the john first, I'll be right back!"

"Alright, it should be ready when you come back!"

Chance quickly empty his full bladder and took care of his morning toiletry stuff. When he came out his morning breakfast was waiting for him on the dining table. Dade has made his french toast and omelette special.

"Have a seat!" Dade suggested as he set down the cups of diced fruits and poured orange juice into the glasses.

"Wow, this looks great!" Chance smiled radiantly at his buddy. "You shouldn't have, Dade!"

"Yeah, I should. It's the least that I can do as a way to say thank you!" Dade insisted as he sat down.

"Well, you're very welcome!" Chance smiled at his buddy as the two sat and ate their breakfast. Chance was glad that he was able to be there for Dade last night. He knew that Dade would do the same for him in a heart beat. It warms his heart to know that he has such a wonderful and close friendship with Dade!
