Moonlight Tell me why?
"So you think that she has no idea that he is trying to do that?" Tim looked, and turned off the car.
"I don't think so. If she did have a problem, then she would have told Lou herself." Lou was in the back seat taking a nap. The ride to grandma's was a two hour drive.
"I guess you are right. Go inside and I'll wake Lou." I nodded and got out of the car. I heard the door open and close.
I walked up the walkway and knocked on the door. So back in hell... I swallowed when the door started opening.
"I swear I will tell daddy to fucking fire her ass," Allison looked at me and glared. "What do you want? Cousin?"
I glared back, "I'm here to talk to grandmother." I crossed my arms when she did. She hated when I copied her.
"Why?" She lifted her eyebrow and put her hands on her waist.
"I'm her grandson I deserve the right to see her..."
"Like you deserve anything," She flipped her hair, "She is not here anyway." She gave a little smile.
I gave her my own smile. "Then why is she right behind you?"
She turned around and stomped her foot. "Whatever..." She gave me one last look before running into the mansion. "DADDY!"
"Hey there Casey," Grandma pulled me into a hug and kissed the top of my head. "How are you?"
"Great and you?" I kissed her on the cheek.
"I'm good as can be expected."She moved to the side and let me pass. She left the door open for Tim and Lou.
Grandma was sick from some sort of illness. She was getting treated from the same doctor that my parents used. I hoped that she would make it. The doctor was a family doctor. Basically she had the same mysterious illness my parents had.
"So what is this about something important?" She lead me into the kitchen and took out some cups.
"Tim has the papers. I was planning to see you at the end of this month but the papers made it more urgent." I sat down at the table and took the ice tea she offered.
"How is school?" She took a sip from her drink and started coughing a little bit.
"Good. Making excellent grades and making sure I don't overdo things." She handed me a cookie and I happily ate it.
"Madame, how are you doing this fine day?" Tim walked in and shook grandmother's hand. He took the drink that was offered, and sat down across from her.
"Fine, how about you? Oh hello their Lou." Grandma got up and hugged Lou, kissing her on the cheek.
"Great ma'am, but we need to go over these papers."
I tuned in and out of their conversation. It was technical things I really didn't understand. How could I with my limited teenage mind? Not. It was things that Tim had went over with me a few hours ago.
"So all I have to do is sign this and Casey won't have to come here?" Grandma looked over to me and took the paper Tim offered.
"Yes, it also states that your other papers won't be interfered with either." He pointed to a section and Grandma read it.
"Yes," She looked at it closely. "That should hold up." She signed it and handed it back to Tim.
"Lou, if you can sign this too..." Tim pointed to a section and Lou signed. "Good, now all I have to do is take this to the office to get it notarized." He put the papers away and patted his suitcase.
"What are you doing in my house?" Steven walked in with Allison at his side. She had a big smile on her face.
"This isn't your house," Tim got up and took Grandma's hand, pulling her up from her chair. "It's her house. We had some legal matters to discuss."
"If it's legal matters than you should talk to me, not her." He growled out.
"It does not concern you. It concerns guardianship," Tim pulled out my chair and I got up. "With that matter you have no authority."
"Like hell. I have as much right to him as you do." Steven looked at me and Tim pushed me behind him.
"If you have anything to say to my sir, I suggest you say it to me." Tim raised his head slightly, feeling a bit superior, I guessed.
"Tim don-" Lou shushed me. I pouted, I did not like being called sir.
"He is your sir," He spat the sir, "for now, but mark my words, you will work for me soon. When that time comes, oh boy, you will be begging for your contract to end."
"Lucky for me, your soon will be never." Tim pushed me a little bit so I could start walking out the door.
"You piece of shit!" My uncle stepped forward and was about to swing at Tim, but Tim saw it and swung back. "Fuck..." Steven staggered a little bit and spit blood on the floor.
"Try to say I hit you first and I'll slap a suit on you. They saw you swing first and I acted on my defense. Ste-ven. Let's go sir, Lou." Stevens lip was spit and he started to spit blood on the floor. Tim started walking with Lou right behind him.
I hugged my grandma before I left the kitchen. She was starting to tend to Steven's lips.
"You may think you have won," I turned around and was surprised to see Allison. "But enjoy it while it lasts. One day soon, all of it will be mine." She gloated. I walked out the door.
"Like anything I have, would make you any less of a bitch." I smiled.
"Oh cousin, that hurt me..." She clutched her chest and feigned hurt. "Here I was giving you a warning and you slander me. Guess what they say about the lower class is right." She smiled.
"Whatever you say Allison.." I rolled my eyes and started walking towards the car.
"Oh and cousin," I turned and her smile got wider. "You haven't seen me," She touched her chest, "be a true bitch." She closed the door.
"So how was the little bitch's reaction?" Jared sat down on the grass and starting picking at it.
"She was like, "DAMN", when she realized grandma was right behind her. Guess what she did next?"
"Call her daddy?" He smiled.
I nodded. "She has to make sure that daddy knows everything." I rolled my eyes. She was as spoiled as they come. "After Tim and Uncle," I rolled my eyes again. "had a little fight, she said I should enjoy my life as I have it. Because I wouldn't have it for much longer."
"Like that means shit," He tossed a rock over my head. "With my dad and his partners, those assholes can't do shit to you."
There were a lot of things they could do. "It depends what they try to do." That mostly concerned Tim.
"You think Steven will get my dad in trouble?" He sounded worried. His dad meant a lot to him and he did to me too.
"Not likely. It was an act of self defense so your dad can put something on him." I scratched the tip of my nose.
He perked up. "No shit?" I nodded. "Yes! Maybe he can get me a car after all."
"He won't do that though."
"Why not? We could get some extra cash." Jared gave a whine.
"The fact of the matter is, your dad wouldn't want to be in the papers," He looked at me strangely. "How you think it would sound if a high class lawyer punched a wealthy man?" It finally dawned on him. "Not only would people not want to hire him, but Uncle might use that to his advantage."
"How?"
I sighed. It was all pretty obvious. "If it got out that he hit a member of my family, it could seem that he is scaring my grandmother and I. Not to mention, raise questions if he did the same to my parents." One bad move and everything could go up in flames.
"But dad wouldn't do that!" Jared yelled.
"We know that, but other people don't. He will lose credibility and we will lose everything."
Jared nodded. "Shit, your family is fucked up." I nodded. We stayed quiet for a few minutes. An acorn went flying past us. "Oh, he better not be starting that shit up again!" He growled.
"Jared leave him alone! He is just trying to find a good acorn..." I rolled my eyes when Jared got up and walked over to the tree. "Don't piss him off!"
"Hey you little shit, keep your crap to yourself!" Jared got a pellet from the bowl below the tree and threw it. It missed and fell to the ground.
"Seriously, leave him alone. He is just foraging." I got up and crossed my arms.
"Foraging my ass! That little shit wants to throw his nuts at me again!" Just then another nut went flying over our heads. I rolled my eyes.
"Jared!" I groaned out, "Stop messing with him!" I rolled my eyes when Jared tossed another pellet at Foamy.
"It's revenge for all those acorns he threw at me before!" Jared tossed another one. I sighed and started walking towards him.
"Just leave him alone," I whined, "Don't make him angr-"
Foamy let out a little shriek and jumped down from his branch and landed on Jared's head. I saw Jared eyes widen before he started moving his arms around to get it off. Foamy started smacking down on Jared's head.
"GET THIS FUCKING SQUIRREL OFF ME!!!" Jared started running madly back and forth, the little squirrel continued smack him with its tiny fists. I had no idea how the little guy could continue to hang on.
I gave a sigh. Did he ever learn? "Foamy!" I called out in a sweet voice. "Do you want some acorns?" I lifted up my hand and showed him the acorn. He jumped off Jared and scurried his way over to me. I kneeled down and showed him my hand.
He leaned over and took it into his paws before he scurried into the tree.
"Why the fuck does he like you and freaking despise me?" Jared moved away from the tree and started checking himself.
"He just beat you like a conga drum. There is no reason why you should be bleeding." I rolled my eyes, if my arms weren't crossed now I would cross them.
"I don't want to get fucking rabies."
"I told you I take him every month to the vet, so you are fine." I sighed,
"Don't tell anyone okay?" He pleaded.
"Like anyone would believe that you got your ass kicked again by a tiny squirrel." I chuckled.
"Shut the fuck up dude! He did not kick my ass."
I shook my head and started walking back to the house.
"Seriously dude! Casey are you listening to me?!" He started running towards me.
"So why did you tell me to meet you at the park?" I sat down on the bench and stared at Jessie.
"Remember when I told you a friend of mine likes you?" I nodded. "Well, he wants to go on a date with you today." She had a devilish smile on her face.
"W-what?" I stuttered. I thought she was joking, not actually serious. Shit. "You can't be serious." Her smile just got wider.
"Oh I am and so is he. He wants to know how it would be if..." She paused. "if you were really alone and there wasn't anybody there to distract you. He gets tired of watching you, and when he wants to talk to you, you're never alone."
"Watching me?" I frowned. "What is he, a stalker?" I crossed my arms and raised an eyebrow.
She giggled. "Well, he said it wasn't stalking but more like research."
Research my ass. "If he is stalking me, then I don't want to meet him."
"But you have to!" She gave a loud whine and took my hand in hers. "I told him that you said yes already."
"Jessie!"
"What? You'll like him! He just wanted to know you better, and stalking was the best option." She bit her lip. So he was stalking me.
"Is he looking at me right now?" I looked around but no one seemed suspicious. Yet how would I know what he looked like?
"No, I don't think he will do the stalking anymore," I backed up a little and she pulled me back. "He won't, trust me!" She gave me a nervous smile. "Once you realize who it is, you will not remember he stalked you. All those days would be completely forgotten."
"Wait ,what? You mean he has been stalking me for days?!" My voice got a little higher. What kind of friend was she?
She bit her lip again and scratched her cheek. "Well, you see..." She chuckled nervously. "it doesn't matter; you are going, and that's that!" She got up and took my hand in hers.
I pulled, but she just pulled back harder. "Jessie let me go! I don't want to meet my stalker!" A few people looked at me weirdly and I blushed.
She pulled me all the way to her car and beeped it open. She pushed me into the backseat and locked it. I tried opening the door, but it was child-locked. She hurried to her side and started the car. "Sorry, but I promised him you would meet him." She backed up and hurried out of the parking lot.
"And kidnapping me? How is kidnapping me helping his cause?" I buckled my seat belt and started pouting. "As soon as I get out of this car, I will run!"
"I thought this might come in handy." When she reached the stoplight, she reached into her purse and took out handcuffs.
"Oh get away from me! Jess get away!" She grabbed both my wrists and slapped the cuffs on them. "Let me go!" I struggled to free myself, but she just smiled.
"Sorry, but a girls got to do what a girls got to do." When we reached another stoplight, she really got an evil smile on her face. She reached into her purse and took out a blindfold.
My eyes got wide and I started to shake my head. "No!" In one quick move she covered my eyes. "You are evil!"
The car ride to wherever, was silent. Jessie was singing to the radio and I was angry. I wasn't worried that something bad was going to happen. The fact I was being held prisoner was making me anxious.
*** Car Ride ***
She removed the handcuffs as I slowly sat down. "So how long am I suppose to wait here?" I touched the blindfold and Jessie smacked my hand away.
"Stop touching it! You only have to wait here for a few seconds. He is already here. He just wants you not to see him coming," She touched the top of my hair before patting my shoulder. "Make sure you don't surprise him."
"Surprise him? How?" I asked but all I got was silence. I curse lowly, I really had second thoughts about this. Not that I really had a choice in the matter. Also, not to mention that I was in a restaurant, and no doubt people were looking at me. The only way I knew I was in a restaurant was because someone asked for how many.
"Is this seat taken?" That voice, I smiled. I should have known I would find myself in this peculiar predicament with him. (
"Yeah, I'm meeting someone here, and I don't know when they're coming." I was confused when I heard the chair on the other side slide.
"Well, you don't have to wait much longer." I felt fingertips on my face and the blindfold disappeared.
"What do you mean I don't have to wait much longer?" I looked around, and there was only Mitch at the table.
"You're smart, figure it out." His smile was perfect and the wink just added to it. He took the menu on the table and started looking at it.
"Wait, don't tell me that...." I couldn't finish the sentence. My mind was still trying to connect the dots.
"Yup," He gave me a wink. "I'm your stalker."
I looked around for Jessie, maybe this was all a joke. "Is this some kind of joke?" I pursed my lips.
"Why would I joke about me being your stalker?" He chuckled and looked through the menu. "Anything you like?"
"The spaghetti looks nice..." I bit my lip. "If she put you up to this, we can just leave..."
He chuckled. "Actually, I put her up to this. Have you ever wondered why she asked you so many questions?" He gave me a smile.
"Yeah but...." I thought for a second. "You made her ask all those questions, and you told her go to the dance with me."
He nodded. "It was a subtle way to see if you like me."
"Subtle?" I chuckled. "It was more like invisible."
He smiled. "Sometimes things are invisible until they come into light."
I rose my eyebrow. "I see..." I think.
We ordered our food and talked about random things. It was just like before, only different. He smiled a little more and was playing footsie under the table. Talk about having a difficult time eating. He told me about the first time he saw me, and the little details about his stalking.
Turns out, once you know someone's name at school, and you do a little research, you can see their schedule. With a little tardiness here and there, Mitch was able to fallow me without my knowing. Also having Jessie there as a spy, helped him learn a few details about me. Like the fact that I thought almost every athletic guy was a walking wet dream.
That was embarrassing to hear. Much more to say it was true. He also liked the fact that I was a semi packrat, my movie collection and cd's could kill someone. If they fell on them of course. Not to mention my love of furry little animals.
I learned that Mitch was scared of needles, didn't like math or history, and had a strange fascination with gymnasts. Something about people bending certain ways excited him. If I tried something like that, I would be in the hospital in a heartbeat. There was also the fact that he had a soft spot for people who wore glasses. He was more than excited to learn that I did wear contacts.
My glasses were somewhere in a drawer. Couldn't remember what drawer or what room exactly.
He paid for dinner and took my hand in his. "Hope you don't mind Jeeps with no doors." I shook my head, though I was lying.
It was a black Jeep, with guess what? No doors. I hopped in and buckled up, which was hard to do with its multiple belts.
"Any place you want to go to?" He started the engine and looked at me.
"The park? My car is there anyway."
He started driving, "So, want to get rid of me already?"
I chuckled. "No, but I don't want anything happening to my baby."
"Neither do I. Baby." He looked at me with a cheeky grin.
"So I'm your baby?" For some reason it made me smile.
"If you want to be. I can think of another nickname if you want." He frowned. "Might take a while though."
"Baby is fine. Stud." His frown turned upside down.
"So I am your stud?" He lifted his eyebrow.
"Only if you want to be."
"No complaints here from this stallion." He winked.
The park was semi-empty. A few people here and there, also the occasional bird. We sat across from the fountain and sat on the bench. The same one that Jessie and I were at awhile ago. It was ironic, back then I didn't want to go, now I wanted it more than ever.
"So, are you cold?" I nodded. Perfect time to forget my sweater. "Good, gives me a reason to get near you." Which he did. He scooted closer to me, his side against mine, and he placed his arm on top of the bench.
"Why me?" I crossed my arms and watched the ducks swim around the fountain.
"Huh?" He looked at me confused.
"You can have any girl you want, and yet you pick a guy. Why is that?" I looked at him and rested against the bench. His arm touched the back part of my neck. He moved it forward so his hand was draped over my shoulder.
"I don't know. Nor do I want to know. Something just clicked when I first saw you," He stared at the ducks. "First I was confused about why I liked you, but once I got to know you, I understood. It's not about your gender. It's about you."
"Huh?" I was confused.
"When I date someone, usually I just date them so I won't be lonely. Though when I date them, it feels more empty. Just sex and no feelings. So I stopped dating to give myself some space," He looked up at the sky. "There is a way I can explain it to you though." I saw the moon in his eyes and he smiled.
"Then explain."
"Lost in darkness. Star's barely there, hidden behind dust," He looked at me from the side. "Trying to find a spec of light in this darkness. Each star is different but just the same, fading into the darkness. When hope is almost lost, a light appears. It makes the other stars disappear behind its beauty. With its faults, it continues shining. I follow the moonlight. Which led me to you."
"I..." I didn't know what to say. That was just beautiful. "don't know what to..."
"Say?" He smiled and leaned in close. "Good, because I think that your mouth would be perfect for something else." His eyes started closing and so did mine. He brushed his lips gently against mine. He pressed again, but this time he put his hand on the back of my neck.
So do you guys get the meaning behind Moonlight now? If you don't I will help you understand it. ^^. So usually reviews? Questions? Rants? Something? Suggestions? I wouldn't mind hearing how you feel about it.
Till next time.
