My Angel, NSL: At the Beginning
As I stare into the ruby ring on my hand, tears trickle off my face onto it. I fall back into memories I thought I had long buried. -----
Gazing into those sparkling sapphire windows to the soul, I wondered what was going through the mind of the one I loved. We were just lying in the king bed, the sun's morning rays filtering through the blinds. It had been another passionate night, and we were both worn out. As I shifted closer to him, I brushed the soft brown hair from his face. Giving me a quick kiss on the lips, he pulled me into his strong arms. I could feel the soft cock lying in the crack of my butt, his abs rubbing against my lower back, and his chest touching my shoulders. Tuning into every breath of his on my neck, the repetitive pattern lulled me to sleep.
RING! RING! RING!
The cacophony woke me up immediately to an empty, twin bed and I blindly (because my face was in my pillow) reached for the phone. Turning my head, I picked up the receiver and placed it to my ear.
"Hello?" I asked groggily.
"Kenny? Are you still sleeping? GET UP! Hurry!" my friend, Soul, screamed into the phone.
"Oh my god, not so loud. It's too early for you to be shouting," I said, holding the phone a little farther away from my ear.
"Yuh huh, whatever. Early my ass, it's noon already and if you're not up soon, we're gonna miss the chance to be on TRL."
"Oh crap! Noon?!?! Damn! OK, I'm up. Just let me get in the shower and dress and I'll pick you up in a little while. Bye!" I said, rushedly, eager to get everything done.
I jumped in the shower, rinsing my black hair that was flying everywhere. My dream replayed in my mind and as much as I wanted to jack off, I didn't have the time. I brushed quickly while trying to pick out clothes to wear. After a few minutes of rifling through everything, I settled on a pair of black jean shorts and a horizontally-striped Tommy shirt that matched perfectly.
Running into the small room I pretended was a kitchen, I quickly grabbed two strawberry Nutrigrain Bars from the box on the sink countertop. Snatching my keys off the hook shaped like a cock that I had gotten at some garage sale back in New Jersey, I raced out the door, stairs, and into my 3-year-old, lime green, Nissan Pathfinder. It was a great car in fantastic shape, ideal for running down the bikers and jaywalkers in New York. Hitting the radio "on" button, Backstreet Boys, "I Want It That Way," blasted through the speakers and into the luxurious, leather interior.
Singing along, I drove down the street and immediately saw Soul standing outside her apartment building. She was wearing tan capris, and a light green tank top, which proudly displayed her bouncing breasts. She was quite a catch for any straight guys that she actually dated. Although I had only met Soul 3 months ago, right after I moved into NYC, we had become great friends. We had met in Ling's Laundromat which was in between our buildings. I had opened her washer by accident and started taking out lacy underwear. My face was so red when I discovered that my machine was the one next to it. She knew I was gay, and accepted me, no questions asked. I guess it was because of her kind personality or just the fact that everyone was gay nowadays. Whatever the reason, I was glad to have met her. Pulling up in front of her, I snapped out of my reminiscing.
"Hurry up and get in. The light's not gonna be green forever," I shouted through the window, as cars behind me blared their horns repeatedly.
As she jumped in, she gave the cars behind us the finger and shut the door. I drove off, speeding through the red light, leaving everyone in my dust.
"I can't believe you did that," I said to her, glancing to my right.
She just laughed and shrugged saying, "It's New York. Who cares?"
Soul's wild trait was addicting and soon I was driving recklessly on a small street full of cars; one hand was holding my two breakfast bars, and the other was trying to keep the steering wheel straight. Luckily though, we made it and I didn't do too bad, only bumping a couple people. By now, 98 Degrees had come on with, "I Do."
"Oh yes!" I exclaimed, "I love this song!"
"Yeah, and a whole lot more huh?" she teased, giggling. "Besides, no need to tell me. It is after all, the reason why we're going to Times Square today."
"Did you go high on something before you left? But anyways, answering your rhetorical question, it helps that such cute guys are singing it."
"Uh huh, I know what you mean. I wouldn't mind getting it on with one of them. But anyways, answering your rhetorical question, no I did not go high on something. Perkiness comes naturally to me." She giggled again.
"Freak. You wouldn't mind getting on with any hot, straight guy you can find."
"Yeah well, it comes with having these two amazing things in front of my body."
"I don't know what's so interesting about those. They're just big blobs of fat that are made to seem larger by tight shirts and wonderbras."
"Hmmm...I think it's the same reason that some guys are interested in an organ that is made to seem larger by 501's and jockstraps that fit so snugly, you wouldn't be able to skin them off."
I laughed. That was another characteristic I adored about Soul. Outside, she was a shallow bimbo, but underneath, there was an intelligent person with the quickest and sharpest wit around. She loved to turn my own words around on me and it worked many times.
"Hey, I'm hungry. Let's go grab a bite. All I've had are these two things so I'm starving.
"No! Not til we get to Times Square. I'll save a spot while you go eat your heart out. Of course, you'll bring something back for me too, preferably McDonaldian."
I laughed again at her wonderful sense of humor. "Sure, whatever."
Soon, my appetite was satisfied as I got three #1 Value Meals. After devouring both of mine, I got back to Soul and gave her her share. She didn't look it, but that girl could pack a mule in her and still be stick-thin. It came with hitting the gym three times a week and a naturally high metabolism. Me, on the other hand, had to work hard (as in going to the gym 5 days a week) to build/maintain my in-shape-but-not-too-muscular body. It was the kind I looked for in a guy, so it was the kind I gave.
We sat down on the sidewalk and waited for the clock to strike 3:00. It was only 2:00. Soul had gotten up and already found a couple guys to chat with and was busy flirting her ass off. There was a perfect 10, Italian guy who was rejecting her advances though, and I smiled at him, giving him the "You want me, I want you, come and get it," look.
We talked for a while, exchanging phone numbers, me knowing that he would be good only for a one-night stand. It didn't matter, I wasn't looking for something serious yet. Going with the flow was more the kind of life for me and the flow had been going pretty strong, picking up cute things every now and then, so I stuck with it. At around 2:30, someone came out of the MTV studios and announced that they would be allowing people to go up. However, only 3:00 would be able to go and it would be a tough contest; nevertheless, I was determined to win.
They quizzed us on the group that would be appearing on the show, asking obscure questions that one wouldn't know unless they spent their time online researching the all-time best. So I did, could anyone blame me? 98 Degrees was the hottest band to hit the music scene since Backstreet Boys and I wanted to take any opportunity to meet them.
Finally, they had the three. Soul, being the big Nsync fan that she was, didn't make it. On my way in, she threw me her camera requesting a pic and gave me a raspberry. I just laughed and followed the others in.
~
Inside the studio, everyone was running around, getting ready for another day of TRL. Not only would they have a celebrity guest, but there was also us. The three of us (I found out the other two were friends from Wyoming named Crystal and Christie) were dragged to makeup. As soon as they finished suffocating me with the makeup, I went to watch the show. The usual songs were at the first couple spots and life was still the same. Nothing happened until it was time for the #3 song.
"OK everyone, this is the group you've been waiting for," Carson started, "With another hit waiting to top the charts, here's Nick, Drew, Justin, and Jeff. 98 Degrees!"
Everyone cheered and I know I screamed the loudest. The two girls gave me a, "What the hell?" look, but I just ignored it.
Carson and the group just made the usual talk about how the group sales was doing, the album, their lives, etc. They cut to a commercial break to usher us three on. I stood there, mouth touching the floor, enchanted by the one I had admired and been infatuated with for so long. He didn't notice, and was just joking around with his groupmates.
Suddenly, we were back on the air and I shook my head, coming out of my trance.
"OK, now I know you out there watching have been waiting for this. The phone lines are off the hook, requesting this video, and for the first time in TRL history, we are having a video debut at number one."
I cheered as loud as I could. I was the only one and thus, felt like an ass, especially since everyone had turned to me (even the camera) and started laughing. My face was a canvas of all the shades of red possible.
"Well, there's an excited fan. Now, before we show the much wanted video, let's introduce our three guests who went through a vigorous test to get where they are. You are...?" Carson asked Christie.
"Hi, my name's Christie, and I just want to say, I LOVE you guys!!! Your so hot and the music is great!" Her voice seemed to get an octave higher with each word and I was afraid the tall, walllength glass windows behind us would shatter.
Next, he went to Crystal and she did basically the same thing. Then, he came to me.
"Hi, and you must be...?"
"The one that made a fool out of himself," I replied. Everyone laughed.
"You got a shorter name?" Carson asked.
"Yeah, Kenny. I want to say, that I agree with everything those two girls over there said, especially the part about you guys being hot, especially Nick, and I can't reinforce how wonderful your music is, and how beautiful the lyrics are, especially the song that's going to be on today."
"Whoa, one big run-on sentence there. Lotta especiallys," remarked Carson. The studio laughed, and I nervously chuckled, unsure if I had just made the biggest mistake in my life or accomplished the greatest achievement.
Carson finished up, thanking everyone for being on the show, and then finally played my utmost favorite song. While it played, everyone got autographs and hugs (except me, instead, I got a photo of them with me) and were then shown the door. When I got back to the outside crowd, Soul was waiting for me.
"WHOA! That was pretty brave what you said up there. Am I rubbing off on you?" she asked, laughing.
"Hmmm, I hope not. I think one slut is good enough for both of us."
"Hey! I resent that. Sure, I dress the part, and act it too, but..." her voice trailed off.
I chuckled, "But nothing. Well, don't worry, I still love you."
"Gee thanks," she said sarcastically. "I thought you were gay though."
"Cmon, let's go," I replied, rolling my eyes. "I've had a great day."
"Well, it's about to get better. Turn around."
I turned and standing before me was my long time obsession.
"Hi, Kenny, right? I'm Nick."
"Uh...yeah." My mouth had become a desert and I couldn't say anything else. Soul suddenly nudged me in the ribs and I choked.
"Oh yeah, this is Soul. She's a bitch, don't mind her," I said, smiling.
He laughed and reached out his hand to her. She took it, shook it, then pulled him in for a big hug. He was caught off-guard but quickly realized and returned it.
"I see that both of you are very daring in your words and actions, huh?" He inquired, eyes twinkling.
"Ummm...yeah. So anyways, what's up?"
"Nada. Me and the guys were just going to go check out New York and you seemed like a pretty interesting guy from the way you acted in there. Plus, you are a big fan, so we decided why not ask you."
"Oh, that was just an act. Really, most of the time, Kenny's just a staring freak. See?" Soul said, her first words since we had met Nick.
I quickly glanced away, blushing away. When I looked back, he smiled at me, and I immediately knew we would be together.
