Vampires exist.
Yup...I said it. My boyfriend is a vampire. Yup...I'm serious. I'm talking about a real blood sucking, burn in the sunlight kind of vampire.
How did I meet him? Oh, that's a LOOOOONG story, but if you have the time, I'll tell you all about it.
So first off...about me. I'm a nineteen year old college dropout named Benson, but everyone just calls me Ben. I dropped out of college because it was expensive, and to be honest, I really didn't enjoy it. I currently work as a server, and although I've only been serving for about six months, it pays the bills. I have an identical twin brother named Braxton, who didn't think that college life was for him. We live together in a two bedroom apartment in Los Angeles. I'm gay and my brother is straight. It may seem weird, but Braxton is my biggest supporter and very gay friendly as well. I came out to him when I was fourteen, and I don't regret it. My parents are big supporters as well, so I can truly say that I am blessed.
So...the story about where I met a real life vampire? Okay. Sure...I'll tell you.
It was a Saturday. I had the weekend off and didn't know what to do, so my brother and I went out for some drinks. What you'll learn in this series of events is the fact that I love to drink. I don't think I have a problem but when I do drink, I have a tendency to go a tad overboard. This Saturday happened to be one of those nights. My brother and I were sitting at a bar, having drunk conversation, not bothering anyone. However, as drunk as I was, I noticed this really handsome guy at the bar, two people from my left. He sat there, eyes closed, listening to the horrific karaoke going on in the background, although he seemed to enjoy it. I didn't want to make it obvious that I was staring, so I would look away every other second, but I couldn't help myself. He was handsome, no questioning it. After about ten minutes of being a creeper, Braxton tapped me on the shoulder, basically telling me that it was time to go.
"Bro, we're drunk, and I don't have the day off tomorrow like you do. Let's get back to the apartment and call it a night."
I heard what Braxton was saying, but I wasn't ready to go. "No worries, man. You can head on back home. I'm going to stick around for a bit, and before you say anything, I will be fine. Don't worry. I won't be long."
"Okay, no biggie," Braxton replied. "I'll see you back at home."
I watched my brother stumble out of the barstool and outside to wait for the Uber he called a couple of minutes before. I was able to see outside from where I sat, so I watched him until he got into the car and left. That's when the bartender approached me.
"Ben! You ready for another drink, or are you ready to call it a night? I see that little bro left."
I gave the bartender a flat look. "He's only my little brother by five minutes, and no, I'm not ready to go. Fill me up again, sir. Please and thank you."
"That's what he said." The bartender gave a side smirk.
"Pete, before you hand me that drink, I'll be right back. I have to take a leak."
"No worries. I'll wait for you."
I left the bar to head to the restroom. When I walked in, I basically did the normal...walk to a stall, take a piss and headed to wash my hands. While I was washing, I took a look into the mirror to check my perfectly curled hair and noticed that mystery guy from the bar earlier was standing directly behind me, looking at me through the mirror.
"Oh hello."
"Hi there. I noticed that you kept looking at me earlier at the bar." I began to turn red.
"Who, me?"
"Yes, you."
At this point, I was flushed with embarrassment and was ready to go home. I always sucked when it came to catching a guy's attention. I turned to head for the door and was stopped.
"Wait. Don't go yet."
"Huh?" Within a second, the stranger was standing directly in front of me, and before I knew it...I was walking out of the bathroom with no memory of what had happened in the bathroom. It was weird, but it was as if I had lost time. Minutes later, I was in an Uber, headed home. I got back to the apartment, and noticed that Braxton was still awake.
"Oh, you're home earlier than I thought."
"Yeah, something weird happened."
"Really? Like what?" I thought for a moment. "I'm....I'm not sure. I guess I drank more than I should have."
Braxton gave me a weird look. "Oh...okay then. Well, goodnight." He turned over in his bed and curled under the blankets.
"Goodnight," I replied and walked out of his room.
