On The Ride -- Mid Afternoon (Jan 1, 2005)
JT's POV
I'm glad to be out of that damned hospital. I thought I was going to be there the rest of my life. I'm glad Nikki showed up when she did or I'd still be there. Where the hell is Kevin? Why hasn't he called me? Why didn't he come to see me before he left? When I see him, I'm going to chew him out for that. He knew I wanted to see him before he and the guys left this morning.
"A penny for your thoughts?" Nikki asks me, looking over at me as she turns the radio down.
"Just thinking about Kevin and why he and the guys didn't come see me this morning before they left," I say, not looking up. "What was he thinking to not want to come see me this morning?"
"Who knows, maybe something with security happened or something," she says as she quickly tries to cover up what she had just said.
"Something like what Nikki?" I ask her. "Did something else happen?"
"No, not that I know of. I was only making a generalization man. Maybe Craig wanted to keep them on a schedule or something so that nothing happened to them. You know as well as I do that those guys have gone through some stuff and they need security just like we do," she tries explaining.
"I don't think Craig would stop Kevin from coming to the hospital to see me before he left. Something's just not right with that," I say as CJ and JC start cooing behind us. "See, even they agree with me."
"Don't be putting my cherin in that conversation JT. They are not going to help fuel your anxiety today," she says, laughing a little bit. "Just chill out man, I'm sure nothing's wrong with him and the guys. Wherever they are, they are fine."
"How do you know that girl?" I ask her, looking over to her now. "How do you know they are fine? Have you heard from them? Talked to Lydie?"
"No I haven't talked to any of them. Calm down JT and I mean it. I'll stop this truck and turn it around and drive you back to the hospital. The doctor said you were not supposed to be stressed and you are doing a pretty good job of that all by yourself," she says, glaring at me.
"You wouldn't," I say, glaring back at her as the SUV starts to slow down.
"Try me JT. I'll turn this cart around and take your ass back to the hospital. You will follow doctors order darn it," she says, looking over at me as I look down to the floor again. "Change the subject or I'm going to turn this cart around."
"Fine," I say, looking out the window.
Orlando, FL -- Jive Entertainment -- Johnny Wright's Office
Kevin's POV
I've had enough of this crap; I'm not putting up with any more of this. It's enough that Nick felt he had to trick me to get me here, but crosses the line when I found out that Johnny told him to get me here at any cost. When he comes in here, I'm going to tell him how I feel and then I'm outta here.
The nerve of some people to think they can do shit to people and not have to pay the consequences for their actions. Well guess what, he's wrong on this one. He and the rest of Jive will pay for this. Trying to keep me away from my husband isn't the answer.
"Good afternoon gentlemen," Johnny says, walking into his office. "How are you all today? Where are Brian and Alex?"
"Brian's downstairs with security," Nick answers him, looking over at me, pleading with his eyes for me not to do what I'm about to do. "We thought Alex would have been here already."
"Why is Brian down with security?" Johnny asks as I stand up. "Kevin do you know what's up with that?"
"Somewhat, but you would have to ask someone that really cares," I say, turning around. "As of this moment, I'm not one of those that care. I'm done, I quit!"
"You quit? Quit what?" Johnny asks, walking around his desk.
"I quit this, all of this. I'm no longer part of the Backstreet Boys." I tell him as he looks at me and then to Nick and Howie.
"What? Kevin what's wrong man?" Howie asks, standing up now.
"Why don't you ask Nick here, he knows the deal with me," I say, walking towards the door. "I'm outtie."
"Kev you can't do this to us, please!" Nick shouts, getting up now.
"I can and I just did," I say opening the door. "You screwed me over because of them, now I'm doing the same thing to you. Have a whole lot of fucking fun."
"What the hell happened between you and him, Nick?" Howie asks, grabbing Nick by the collar of his shirt and jacking him up as Johnny stepped in between the two of them.
"He tricked me D, he tricked me," I say, tears falling from my eyes as I walk out of the room. "I'm sorry D, but I have to go, I have to go see about my husband."
Later Afternoon - The Home of Phyllis Fatone
Joey's POV
I don't know what to do anymore. My life has been turned upside down and all it took was for Michael to start causing problems. Maybe my life would have been better if I would have stayed with Nikki. That would solve a whole lot of issues with Josh and me right now. Who am I fooling? I love Josh just as much as I love Nikki. I can't choose either of them, because I want both of them.
Things are not going to get better between any of us. All the voices in my head are telling me that I need to make a choice, but my heart is telling me to love both of them. What am I going to do about this? If I keep seeing Nikki the way I have, I'll hurt Josh more than I already have, but if I stop seeing her I'll probably fall apart. I love her and my little boys, I just can't make her fully love me and I don't want to make her chose me over Howie.
Maybe God will show me some signs soon before all of this gets too out of hand. I want to at least have someone to be with before I end up alone. I don't want him hating me the way he hates Nikki. I just have to get through the next few days and I can go home and try to make things up to him.
"Hey bro what's going on?" Janine, my sister asks me as she sits in the chair next to me.
"Hey sis, when did you get here?" I ask her, hugging her around the neck as she pats me on the back.
"Can't breathe, let go Joe," she says, laughing at me as I let her go. "It's always good to get one of your patented Joeybear hugs, but you're not supposed to kill me with it."
"I wasn't trying to kill you sis. When did you get in?" I ask her, looking at her.
"I got in a early this morning. Enough about me mister, how are things going with you and Joshua?" She asks me, smiling at me as I start frowning at her.
"Hmmm, I guess that's my answer bro. What's going on with you two?" She asks me frowning too now. "Does this have anything to do with a certain baby momma?"
"You didn't have to say it like that Janine," I say standing up now. "We are having some problems right now, but it has...oh hell, we are having a lot of problems right now."
"Do you want to talk about it bro?" She asks, standing up now.
"No, I'm going to my room. I want to be alone for a bit," I say, walking away from her.
Back on the Road to JT's House
Nikki's POV
Lawd JT is getting on my frickin' nerves right now. I'm trying to be nice and not just scream at him to shut up, but hell I don't think any civil person in my position right now can put up with this for over an hour like I have. Please Kevin, wherever you are, I beg you, call your husband so he can shut the hell up.
"JT I've heard enough. I'm tired of threatening to turn this car around. I know you miss Kevin and you're worried about him, but you need to stop this and now. You are causing unneeded stress for yourself." I tell him, wishing that he would just take a chill pill or something and just get over it already.
"How would you feel if Howie was supposed to come see you and he didn't show up and he didn't call? Wouldn't you be worried? Huh? Wouldn't you?" He asks me, sounding a little bit annoyed this time. I know he has a point, but he has to let it go sometime.
"I understand you JT, I just wish you would stop bringing that back up. Every conversation we've had since leaving the hospital, Kevin not coming to see you and he's possibly hurt or whatever pops up. I don't know how the hell we jumped from job stability back to Kevin. Get over it man."
"Nikki..." He says as I held up my hand to him.
"No JT, I've heard enough. I don't want to hear about this again while I'm driving," I say to him as he looks down again. He must be in love with something on the floor. Every time I chastise him about this, he starts staring at the floor like there's something on it. Strange man he is, but okay he's quiet again. Maybe I can get him to Albany in silence.
"I have a question Nikki," he says, looking up at me.
"What is it man? This better not be about Kevin either." I tell him.
"When you checked out of the hotel, did the hotel staff say anything about the condition of the rooms?" He asks as I turned and look at him, wondering where this was leading.
"No, no one said anything to me, why?" I ask him.
"Oh good, I guess they haven't noticed it yet," he says, smiling to himself.
"Noticed what yet?" I ask him, looking back over to him, noticing that he was smiling.
"Let's just say that the last good night we spent in that room, we broke the bed," he says, cracking another smile.
"You broke the bed? Is that the noise we heard the other night?" I ask him, starting to smile myself.
"Could have been," he says, looking out the window.
"How da hell did you and Kevin break a damn bed?" I ask him.
"Actually me and Kevin didn't break it. Me and Justin broke it." He tells me, still not meeting my eyes.
"What? How did you and Justin break the bed?" I ask him, confused at how he and Justin could break the bed. "Were you fighting again? Did you push him on the bed and hurt him? JT you know better than that."
"No! no, it wasn't anything like that..." he states as I interrupt him.
"Then what was it like then?" I ask him, getting a little bit angry.
"That boy was wonderful. Damn he was like a little piece of heaven," he says as I look at him like he was crazy.
"What are you talking about?" I ask him.
"I'm talking about how the bed got broken," he says, smiling like a Cheshire cat. "The white boy got skills. He made me feel some things that I don't feel with Kevin sometimes."
"Oh My Fucking God," I say, looking at him with an evil expression. "Are ya'll having an affair? How could you two do that to Nick and Kevin?"
"We are not having an affair," he says, looking out the window again. "We had a foursome."
"A Foursome? Lawd help me Jesus..." I muttered, trying to keep my eyes on the road, but rubbernecking so fast and furious that I felt like my neck was about to snap. I grinned, my mind on my own situation. Like my freaky ass can talk, I thought with a smile, my body humming as it remembered the nights I'd shared with Tony and D. The longer I remember, the hotter I am getting. Damn, I think I need to repeat that... and the sooner the better.
"Nikki?" JT said, intruding on my increasingly erotic thoughts. I snapped out of my reverie, a small smile tugging at the corners of my mouth that, try as I might, I could not get rid of. "Girl what you grinning like a cat full of cream about?"
"If I tell you, you have to promise not to tell anybody until I say it's okay," I told him, my expression stoic as I regarded him in the dimly lit interior. I could see he was dying of curiosity, but I was not about to spill my secret without some kind of promise. "I'm serious JT... nobody can know about this—now promise."
"Girl just tell me," he whined, pouting like a big kid. I rolled my eyes at him, determined not to tell until he had agreed to keep silent. When the silence became too much for him, he capitulated. "Oh all right... I promise I won't tell anybody. Now dish heffa!"
"Well, you aren't the only one doing some freaky ass shit. Howie, Joey and I had the most—shit, I don't even know how to describe the sex we been having the last few nights!" I exclaimed, grinning at his shocked expression. "Don't look so shocked JT! You guys had to know something was going on! Hell, he's practically been my shadow ever since this whole kidnapping drama started, so don't tell me ya'll never suspected anything."
"Well, Justin did try to tell us something was going on with you three, but we all told him to mind his business cause we thought it was just Joey comforting you because of what happened with CJ," JT replied, smiling over his shoulder at the boys, who were now sound asleep in their carseats. "I guess I owe Justin an apology... but to hell with that stuff girl. How was the sex?"
"Baby bye! Those two together should be illegal!" I replied with a smirk, my mind slipping back to the other night. "Don't get me wrong, D is damned good at what he does to me on his own, hell You know that from the plane ride to Paris last year, but Tony... he just knows me, ya know? Plus, he eats pussy like a starving man at a five-course banquet. That man can make a bitch speak in tongues when he's snacking at the all you can eat Nikki Buffet!"
"Girl, hush!" JT screamed, laughing so hard he was gasping for air. He wiped his eyes, fighting to control himself before he woke the twins. "You are a mess!"
"You shouldn't have asked if you didn't really want to know!" I snapped back, giggling as I concentrated on getting us to his house in one piece. "But seriously, it's not all about the sex with us. I thought I was over Tony when I married D, but I know that I'll never really stop loving him because he's such a huge part if who I am."
"I only have one thing to say," JT said softly, turning to face me.
"And what, pray tell, might that be?" I asked, my native nosiness getting the better of me. His grim expression turned mischievous—and in that instant, I knew he was about to say something outrageous.
"We some bad ass bitches!" he stated in full diva mode, fingers snapping and head rolling. I almost choked on my lemonade as I burst out laughing. I laughed so hard I had to pull over to the side of the road until I could contain myself. Once I got myself under control, we continued towards JT's house, laughing and talking until we pulled up to the front of the house.
As JT got Joshy out of his seat, I could hear my cell phone ringing in the front seat. I picked CJ up, kissing his forehead as I reached in and grabbed my phone, flipping it open while I made my way awkwardly up the path from the garage to the front door, balancing CJ's dead weight, my purse and one of our bags. I pressed the "Send" button, putting the phone up to my ear.
"Nikki's phone. How may I help you?" I said softly, not wanting to disturb CJ as I followed JT inside. He turned to me, indicating I should follow him.
"Kick, where the hell are you?" Tony asked, his voice betraying his annoyance. "I've been calling the hotel all day and when I called the front desk, they said you had already checked out. Why didn't you tell me you were leaving?"
"I didn't have time to call you Anthony," I replied, my irritation level inching up a notch. "As to where the boys and I are, we are at JT and Kevin's house in Albany."
"Why are you there instead of here?" he asked, his voice calmer as he relaxed now that he knew we were safe. He really does love us, I thought with a grin as I laid CJ down on a bed next to his brother, leaving them fully clothed for the time being.
"Well, when JT got out of the hospital, he asked me to drive him up here so he could be in his own house instead of at the hotel," I explained patiently as I tucked the boys in and followed JT out into the living room. He mouthed that he was going to get the rest of our luggage out of the truck, giving me some privacy.
"Are you okay?" Tony asked, his voice concerned. I couldn't help smiling as I kicked off my shoes and sat down on the couch in the spacious living room.
"We are fine Tony... stop worrying about us," I tried to reassure him, rubbing my belly as it rumbled. "We'll be driving back to the city tomorrow morning, so we should be there in plenty of time for the funeral."
"Okay..." he said, his voice sounding sad which automatically put me on alert.
"Honey, what's wrong?" I asked, resting me head against the back of the couch. I heard him sigh and knew he was running his hands through his hair. "Talk to me Tony. What's wrong?"
"I'm just... shit I think I'm just tired," he replied, sighing deeply. I figured quickly that whatever was bothering him probably had a lot to do with JC and me... and that wasn't good.
Listen, it's been a really long day, so I'm going to head up to bed. I love you Tony," I said softly, my heart breaking as I realized that our time together would most likely have to end soon. "Remember that, okay?"
"You know I do... and I love you too brown eyes," he stated, his voice smiling. "You go get some sleep, and I'll see you in the morning. Kiss my boys for me."
"What about me?" I asked, pouting a little. He laughed, the sound a pleasant rumble that made my kitty stir just a bit.
"I'll be kissing you in person," he replied seductively, making me moan softly. "Now go get some sleep... you're going to need your energy for tomorrow. Oh, before I forget, Janine's here and I think Mom told her about the boys."
"Shit!" I shrieked, all thoughts of making love to Tony forgotten. "That's just what I need. Damn it all to hell!"
"It's going to be fine babe... just stick close to me," Tony stated calmly, trying to get me to relax, but that wasn't going to be happening anytime soon now. I heard voices in the background and knew that someone had walked into the room with him.
"Look, I'll see you in the morning... bye," I said quickly, closing the phone and slumping against the couch. "This is just not my lifetime."
"What's wrong girl?" JT asked, walking back into the room and sitting down next to me.
"I just found out that Tony's sister is here and that's not good," I replied, one arm covering my eyes.
"Why isn't that good?" he asked, confused at my reaction. "I thought his family liked you... well with the exception of his mother and Steve."
"Pops and his grandmother love me, but Janine has never liked me," I explained. "Ever since Tony brought me home with him the first time, she's had it in for me and it only got worse when I had to move in with them because my Mom kicked me out."
"Well what's her problem?" JT asked, his face a mixture of sadness and worry. "Did you try to shoot her or something?"
"No... but if she shows her ass with me at this damned funeral tomorrow I might," I replied only half-jokingly. "No, Janine's basic issue with me is my color. She doesn't like black people in general, and me in particular because I had the utter audacity to love not one, but two of her brothers. So to say I'm not looking forward to this stupid funeral would be the understatement of the century."
"Girl, everything's going to be fine tomorrow... you'll see," JT said soothingly, his hand resting on mine. "I don't think Joey will let his family fuck with you, but do you want to carry one of my pistols just in case?"
I didn't reply, just laughed until I felt better. By the time we both stopped laughing, we were practically asleep on our feet, so JT led me to one of the guest bedrooms. After showing me where everything was, he left me to my own devices. I undressed quickly, climbing into the bed and falling asleep almost as soon as my head hit the pillow.
New York, NY -- The Soffitel -- The Main Suite -- Late Evening
Kevin's POV
What's going on around here? I've checked the hospital and he's not there, I called his cell phone and I've gotten nothing but his voicemail, hell I even called mom and she hasn't heard from him either. Where the hell is my husband? Where the hell could he be? I'm getting scared here now. I hope Nikki can tell us something.
"What the hell is going on here?" I ask D as the two of us walk around the suite. "I thought Nikki and the babies were supposed to still be here?"
"They are," he says as someone walks out of Nick and Justin's room, pushing a cleaning cart.
"Excuse me, excuse me where are the people that are supposed to be in this suite?" I ask the young woman as she looks up at us.
"The room is vacant sir," the woman says, pushing the cart into the next room.
"This room isn't vacant. My wife and kids are supposed to be here," D says, walking into his and Nikki's room to see that everything was gone. "Kev she's not here. All of her things and the babies' things are gone too."
"Have you tried calling Joey to see if she's with him?" I ask him as another woman comes out of another room pushing a cleaning cart.
"The young woman with the babies checked out earlier today sir," the woman says, looking at us as D pulls out his phone and dials a number.
"Where the hell is my husband?" I ask aloud as the two of us walk out of the room.
Howie's POV
I hope to God she's with Joey right now. Please don't let some unknown, unheard of goon that was working for Michael got ahold to her or something. I don't think I can bear it if she was hurt again. Please God, please let my wife be okay. I'll just call Joey and make sure she's okay. I know he will keep her safe from anything, well anything except for that crazy, rude, loudmouth husband of his. I hope things between him, Nikki and JC get straightened out, this is started to stress the relationship we have with each other.
"Hello handsome, how you doing this evening?" I ask Joey as he yawns into the phone.
"Hey D, what's up?" Joey asks me.
"I was just calling to check on the missus, you and the crew. How are you guys doing?" I ask him.
"The missus? The crew? I assume you're talking about your lovely wife and our kids. I'm I right?" He asks me.
"You know it handsome. So how are they?" I ask him again, getting a little bit frustrated with his round and round questions.
"Well I don't know right now, you would have to call Kevin and JT to find that out." He tells me. "She's staying with JT tonight since he was released from the hospital today. Call him, they went to his place in Albany."
"So that's where they are. Me and Kevin are having a fit trying to find them. Thanks handsome." I tell him as Kevin looks at me strangely. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"I'll be counting the minutes," he says, as he yawns again and hangs up the phone.
"What was that all about?" Kevin asks me. "Who were you talking to? Did you say handsome?"
"It's a long story Kev, but I found out that JT was released from the hospital today and Nikki drove him to you guys' house in Albany. So we need to get there," I say as he starts smiling at me.
"Thank God, he's okay," Kevin says as we exited the hotel. "All we have to do now is rent a car and get to Albany."
"How long is that going to take Kevin?" I ask him.
"About two hours, probably less if we go the back way and speed a bit," he says, pulling out his phone and dialing a number.
"Who are you calling Kevin?" I ask him.
"Making arrangements for a car to get us to Albany, unless you wanted to walk?" I ask him.
"No thank you, I would rather ride," I say as he stops walking.
"Yeah...yes ma'am...yeah, that would be fine. Thank you," Kevin says, waving his hand as a taxi stopped in front of us.
"Where are we going?" I ask him.
"We're off to the Airport. We have to pick up the car from the Hertz Rent-A-Car office." He tells me as I close the door and we speed off towards the airport.
Back in Albany -- JT and Kevin's House
JT's POV
"Damn this, I was sleeping really good. Whoever this is, they better have a good excuse for calling me right now and disturbing my beauty sleep," I say picking up the phone. "Hello? This better be good."
"Hi JT, how are you feeling?" Justin asks as me as I roll over and sit up in bed.
"I'm fine Justin. What's up handsome?" I ask him, wondering why he would be calling me now, and not earlier today.
"Right now a whole lot of shit is up. It's Kevin, he's quit the Backstreet Boys...," he tells me as I cut him off.
"He quit the Backstreet Boys? Why would he do something like that Justin?" I ask him.
"Well let's just so he and Nicky got into it today..." He went on to tell me the whole boring story of how Nick tried to manipulate Kevin and how they ended up at the airport instead of seeing me this morning.
"Well I think Nick has to answer for his..." I start, but Justin interrupts me.
"No JT he had a good reason for what he did, he just went about it all wrong," he says, the sound of crying could be heard now. "Shhhh, baby...it's going to be alright. I'm talking with JT about it right now. Just calm down."
"Is that Nick crying?" I ask him.
"Yeah he's crying. He's sorry for what he did to Kevin. He's just sorry for all the stuff he did, he didn't want them to get into more trouble." Justin tells me.
"Well what kind of trouble are they in?" I ask him.
"Well Nick feels that management is causing problems with their new album because of all the time they've been taking off," Justin says as Nick's crying got louder. "He was only trying to get them back to normal is all."
"From what you told me Justin, he was only looking out for himself," I say to Justin as Nick got louder. "Shut him up darnit! I don't want to hear all that damn fuss."
"I can't it hurts him so much," he says, the sound of sniffling and snot drainage being heard on the other end of the phone.
"Well go into another room. I don't want to hear his snot falling," I say, turning on the light in the room to see that it was a little bit after eleven o'clock. "You do know it's after eleven right?"
"Yeah I know that JT, I can tell time," he says as I smirk at him.
"You know what they say about you pretty boys," I say, waiting for him to catch on to what I was saying.
"Hey! That's not funny JT. I love you and all, but I won't listen to you belittle me like that," He says as I start laughing.
"Well I was just wondering since you called me to tell me something that was so mundane," I say as I get up out of bed, walking into the bathroom still holding the phone as I took a leak.
"Are you using the bathroom JT?" He asks me as I start laughing.
"You are getting sharper by the second Einstein." I tell him as I flush the toilet and wash my hands. "I understand that Nick did something wrong to Kevin and that's something he and Kevin will have to work out when that time comes. As their husbands, partners in life, whatever you want to call you and me, we have to step back and let them handle it, handle it on their own. That means me and you shouldn't be involved with it. Got it?"
"Yeah I got it JT." He tells me. "Now that this matter no longer involves us, have you heard from Kevin?"
"No I haven't heard from him all day. I have no idea where he can be right now. I'm a little bit worried now that you bring him up again." I tell him as I hear a noise in the living room. "Justin hold on a bit, I hear something strange."
"JT be careful," Justin says on the phone as I open the closet door, pulls out my service revolver and tip toes out into the other room.
Kevin's POV
I'm so glad to be home right now, the events of the day finally taking their toll on me. All I want to do now is just go take a shower and be with JT. I've missed him so much. I know it's only been one day, but it feels like I haven't seen him in weeks. I'm going to show D where to crash and then I'm heading to our room and calling it a night.
"Put your hands up!" I hear JT's voice shout as I put my hands up. I knew I should have called before we came in here unannounced.
"Baby it's me...me and D," I say, ready to turn around as I hear the gun cock. "JT's it's me and Howie!"
"Oh God he's going to kill us..." D states as I can hear the fear in his voice. "Somebody, anybody help us!"
"What the hell is going on out here?" Nikki asks, turning on the light as JT finally sees who we are.
"Oh thank God!" Howie shouts, running over to Nikki and hugging her. "Thank you for coming out here when you did."
"Baby you sure do know how to scare somebody. I almost pissed my pants," I say to him as we kiss. "I'm sorry baby; I should have called first instead of coming in here like this."
"You should have, but you didn't. You have a right to be scared. When this house is dark like this, I don't know you from Adam and whoever shaky bones is over there," He says, laughing on the look of relief on D's face. "Welcome to our home."
"T-thanks," D says as he and Nikki walks down to the room she was already crashing in.
In JT and Kevin's Bedroom -- A Few Minutes Later
"So it's all Nick's fault that you didn't get to see me this morning?" JT asks, sitting on the edge of the bed.
"How do you know that?" Kevin asks him, removing the towel from around his waist and throwing it in the clothes hamper.
"Let's just say Justin called me...oh shit, Justin was on the phone. I wonder did he hang up?" JT asks, picking up the phone, pressing the talk button and then getting a dial tone. "I guess he got tired of waiting and hung up."
"I guess so baby. So how do you feel right now?" Kevin asks him, caressing his face.
"I'm tired, I need to go back to sleep," JT says, cuddling up to Kevin and laying his head on his chest. "Why don't we talk more about this later, I need rest and I'm quite sure you're worn out too."
"That I am," Kevin says, kissing JT. "I love you baby."
"I love you too Kev," he says, laying his head back down.
Down the Hall -- The Guest Room
"I missed you," Nikki said softly as she hugged her husband once they were safely ensconced in JT's guest room again. When he seemed about to respond, she pulled him closer, smirking. "Less talk, more kisses."
They shared a deep, intensely passionate kiss, breaking apart only reluctantly when they both needed to breathe. She rested her head on his shoulder, her fingers playing absently through his hair as they held each other and just enjoyed being together again. Howie finally stood and began to undress, stopping frequently for kiss breaks, as he got ready for bed. He climbed into bed beside her, resting her head on his shoulder.
"Not that I'm not glad to see you, but what are you guys doing back so early? I wasn't expecting to see you again until I came back to Miami next week," Nikki asked once they were both comfortable.
"Well, it seems that Nick tricked Kevin into leaving New York this morning and it pissed Kev off so bad that he quit Backstreet," Howie replied, smiling at the stupefied expression on his wife's face.
