When we last saw the guys...
Lance and Justin had just returned from the bathroom and Lance said, "Hey boy, did ya miss me?" as he slid into his seat next to mine. Looking at him I simply said, "Who are you? And what did you do with Lance?" Whatever Justin said to him in the bathroom sure did wonders cause he was smiling ear to ear.
"I'm Lance, your ever loving boyfriend." And with that he bent over and gave me a quick kiss.
"LANCE!" JC and Justin both hissed at him.
"We are in public you know." I reminded him.
"I Know, I just want to tell my boyfriend I love him too." Lance said.
Looking at him quizzically I asked, "Lance? Do you mean it?"
"Of course I do. I just hope that you do when you say it to me." Lance replied.
Jumping up and grabbing him, I pulled him out to the hallway where the bathrooms are located. Inside there was a small coat room that I pulled him into.
"I Love You Lance Bass. I want you to know that more than anything." I said as kissed him passionately
"I Love You Too, William Benson. I. Love. You." He accented each word with a kiss.
And Now:
"Will, what are you doing?" Michael asked me as he stood leaning into the doorframe. I hadn't heard him come in, and was a little shocked by his unannounced presence.
"Just trying to clean this place up. When was the last time we watched any of these?" I asked him as I held up a stack of DVD's.
"Hell if I know. I do know that my mom has some." He said as he stood there.
"Well if she wants to borrow some more, they are in this box here." I said as I put the DVD's in the box.
"You aren't taking them with you?" He asked nonchalantly.
"Babe, I'm only going for six months. Besides class and work, I doubt I will have time to watch TV let alone DVD's I have seen a million times." I said.
"So you are going then." He said.
"We went through this dear. Yes I am going for a six month internship at Disney World." I said as I threw the remaining DVD's in the box.
"Whatever Will. No need to get violent." He stormed past me. If it's one thing I hate its when he gets into his 'whatever' moods.
"Michael, I thought we talked about this last night. I have a job that is willing to pay me to do what I want. You know I have to come back here. Please? I don't want to fight with you on these last days." I said as I climbed into the bed with him.
"I know Will. I'm just afraid I will lose you that's all. Some hot guy in a club will catch you eye, and poof, your gone." He said as he rolled over on his side.
"Michael, please stop that. I told you once; I have you and only you. That's all I need, and all I want." I said as I spooned him.
"Yeah that and a dollar bill will get me a soda dear. Can you do me a favor? Just leave me alone right now, I want to sleep. Maybe if I am lucky I won't wake up." He said in a sadistic voice.
"You know what Michael? You are a jerk." I said as I slid off the bed.
"Screw you Will." He said
"Screw yourself." As I walked past the dresser, I knocked the picture of us onto the floor.
The sound of glass breaking woke me up. Quickly taking stock of myself, I realized I wasn't in that house anymore. I was in my bed at the condo. But the breaking glass? That was real. Looking around I realized that I knocked my glass off the nightstand. 'Whew what a relief!' I thought to myself. Rubbing my eyes, I felt something sticking to my forehead. Pulling it off I realized it was a note that someone attached a little to close to eyebrows since some of them came off with the tape.
Flipping on the lamp next to the nightstand, I read the note.
J-
There's been a slight change of plans. I have an educators meeting in Boston on Friday and since I know that you are going back tomorrow, I was hoping I could go with you. I took the liberty of your flight information and got myself assigned to the standby list for your flight.
Make sure you get me up when you do so we can go together.
Thanks little bro...
Ben
Great. Now not only do I get to miss Lance for an entire two weeks, I have to put up with the boy genius for god knows how long. Why do I get suckered into this? I just shook my head and looked at the alarm clock. 5 minutes to 5 am. Great. Rolling out of my bed, I made my way over to the room that my brother was asleep in.
"Ben, wake up." I said as I tapped on his door.
"Ben?" I said as I opened the door.
"BENJAMIN WAKE UP THIS MINUTE!" I said in as loud of a whisper as I could.
"Huuh?!?!? What time is it?" He looked around his room in confusion.
"Its now 5am. Since you volunteered to join me, you should know that my flight leaves in 3 hours! Get up, Get dressed, and be ready by 6:30!" I said as I made my out of his room.
As I continued on my trek down the hall towards the bathroom, I smelled the coffee being brewed. I am normally not a coffee drinker, but I decided what the hell, if I was going to be miserable, I might as well be hyper about it. Walking down the stairs, I made my way into the darkened kitchen. Grabbing a mug, I poured myself a cup and started to look out the window at the beautiful day that was beginning to form. The beautiful reds and yellows of the Florida sun were starting to form as my mind drifted back towards last nights dinner.
"Lance, I love you." I said, as I just stood there frozen.
"Huuh?" he stood there looking at me in shock.
"Well what a good way to start off the evening. Lance I didn't mean that." Christ where the hell was I going with this conversation.
"HUUH?" Lance said a little louder.
"Ok can we start this again? Lance I do mean it, but I didn't mean to say it right now." I said, as I looked him in the eyes.
"Lance? Wanna help me out here? Say something, anything!" I said as I took him into my arms.
"Will I'm a little confused right now. We just met, so I don't know what you want me to say." He said, as he looked me in the eyes. I could see he was searching for something to say, but was coming up blank.
"Will, can you do me a favor? Just hold on for a little bit. I just came out of a bad relationship, and I want to make the right choice. I do think I have the potential to love you, but right now, I need to just think about it." He said as he let go of me.
Feeling slightly embarrassed at my outburst, Lance grabbed my chin and made me look at him. "Ok?" He asked.
Smiling back at him, I was relieved he wasn't mad. "Sure. It just leaves me the opportunity to go after Justin until you get your act together." I chuckled.
Later on in the evening
"You really like him don't you." JC asked me
"Yeah Josh. I really do." I said.
"Well I don't know what's gotten in to him tonight. Usually he is bouncing off the walls." JC said as he speared another piece of meat off his plate.
"JC? Can I tell you something?" I asked him
Stopping in mid chew, he nodded.
"I love him." Whew that was a load off my chest.
Swallowing hard JC asked me, "You what?"
"I love him. Lance. I love him." I said as I picked up my cup.
"I told him that this afternoon when I first arrived at the house. I think I shocked him." I took a drink of my rum and coke.
"What did he say?" He asked as also took a drink from his glass.
"At first he didn't say anything. Than he asked me to just hold on, cause his last relationship was hard. He said he had the potential, but he just didn't know yet." I said looking out into the restaurant.
"Wow Will. That's amazing. I think you should follow his advice cause Scoop gives the best advice when it comes to stuff like this." JC said as finished his dinner.
The end of the night
"Will, I had a really great time tonight." Lance said as he moved closer to me under the side entrance of the compound.
" I did too Lance. I am really glad we got to know each other." I pulled him closer to me and hugged him tightly.
"Will?" He asked shyly.
"Yeah babe?" I looked into his eyes.
"I am going to miss you." He said as I wiped away a tear.
"I know sweetie, I know. I am going to miss you too." I pulled him into a kiss.
Breaking away I said to him, "Lance look up." He did so, and I pointed to a small patch of stars. As I wrapped my arms around his waist, I started to tell him, "When I moved away from my friends in NY to go to school, we all made a patch that if any of us every got lonely, we would look up at that cluster of stars. That cluster of stars represents our friendship, and someone will always look up at it. It made us feel better knowing that we were all looking at that same cluster of stars. I want to share the same thing with you. Pick out any cluster of stars, and they will be ours." He looked at me, and then pointed to a set of stars just of the right of the ones I had pointed out. "Those?" he asked me. Looking deep into his eyes I said," Lance those are now our stars. It doesn't matter where you are in the world, if you ever miss me, just look up and those will remind you of how much we love each other. I will also look up at those stars and we will be looking at the same cluster." Turning around he kissed me one last time as I made my way towards my car.
Standing at the kitchen sink, I could just barely make out the cluster as the sun started to rise. Lost in thought, I didn't hear my mom come in until she kissed me lightly on the cheek.
"Mom? What was that for?" I asked her.
"For being you." She said as she made herself some coffee.
Looking at her strangely I walked over to get some more coffee myself.
"William, this is the first time in awhile I have seen you happy." She said as she settled into the table. "You know that what I strive for the most is you kids having happiness."
I smiled at her and said, "Yes mother, you are right. I am quite happy right now."
"So, if my opinion counts, which I usually make sure it does, I think he is the one." She said.
Catching me off guard I put my mug down and looked intently at her.
"The one what?" I asked.
"You know, the one for you. Come on William I haven't seen you this happen since Matt was born." She looked at me. "Just because I'm you mother doesn't mean I can't see you happy. True at first I was happy you married Ashley, but I saw the look of pain whenever you said you loved her. I raised you my son, I know I taught you better than to lie." She said staring intently at me.
"So I am going to say this one last time. Make yourself happy my dear. You only get one chance at love, and I think this one may be it."
As she said those words, I got up and wrapped her in my arms. "Mother, you don't know how happy I am right now that you accept me. Lance completes me. He really does." I looked at her and smiled through my tears.
"I know dear. The same way your father completes me." She hugged me back tighter.
"So I guess this is Goodbye then huuh?" Lance asked me through the phone.
"No, Not goodbye, so long. I will see you in a week or two babe." I said as I walked up to the baggage handler. Handing him my ticket I said into the phone, "So, you gonna miss me?"
"Of course dumbass. I think I told you last night I love you didn't I?" Lance said into the phone.
"Yeah but you didn't say if you would miss me or not." I said back.
"Yeah I am gonna miss you. Especially that ratty old sweatshirt you're wearing." Lance said.
"How did you know I was wearing a sweatshirt?" I asked him looking around.
"It is a lucky guess. Besides I would love to see what you wear as far as casual clothes." Lance chuckled.
"On our first date I was casual." I said as I made my way towards the gate.
"Oh yeah, khakis and a shirt and tie is not casual." He said laughing into the phone.
"I'm talking about jeans and a t-shirt. Preferably a wife-beater."
"Oh, so now you have moved from being my boyfriend to my wife?" I asked him into the phone.
"I love the way your mouth crinkles when you grin." He responded. Now I was thoroughly confused.
"Will. I don't want to alarm you, but there is somebody following us." Ben grabbed my arm.
"What? What are you talking about Ben?" I asked him.
"Oh Ben is with you? HI Ben!" Lance shouted almost killing my eardrum.
"Ben, Lance says hi. Now what are you talking about?" I eagerly looked at him.
"Don't turn around but there is a short guy that is trying to look UN suspicious with a big cowboy hat and wide sunglasses at 4:00." Ben was a military geek, so I understand that he meant to our right and just behind us.
"Will? What's wrong?" Lance asked in an hurried voice
"My Brother's over active imagination is what is wrong. He thinks we are being followed." I mused.
"Will please be careful." Lance pleaded with me.
"Lance I may have to call you back." I said.
"NO. Stay on the line." He pleaded.
"Ok, but there might be trouble. He is talking to a big black guy right now. I can see him out of the corner of my eye." I started to look around for a security guard.
As soon as I finished my sentence I heard someone else talking to Lance.
"Lance, who are you talking to?" I asked him out of fear more than anything. I was hoping that if I could keep talking to him, this 'problem' would go away.
"Huuh? Oh Jimmy our bodyguard. Do you want me to send him to the airport?" He asked.
"No I think I can handle this myself." I said looking around and finally signaling a security guard. As I did so, I could hear Lance's breathing become quicker. "Will, what are you doing now?" He asked almost frantically.
"Lance, just stay calm. I am going to talk a friend in Blue."
Just then I heard an announcement over the PA system.
"Attention all passengers. Flight 82 from Panama City will be arriving on time at Gate 4." Although I was near a speaker, I could hear the announcement in my phone as well.
"Lance?" I asked him.
"Yeah babe?" He answered me.
"Where are you?" I enquired.
"I'm at the compound, why?" He asked.
"Just curious. Hey listen the security guard is talking to Ben, so I have to go. I will call you later." I said into the phone.
"WILL NO WAIT!" Lance shouted.
As soon as he did that, I turned and waved to him.
"Was it the announcement?" He asked me.
"Nope. It was the sweatshirt. You are correct about me not wearing casual clothes. Unless you went snooping through my drawers that night, you wouldn't have seen this ratty old sweatshirt." I said to him as we came closer to each other. " What are you doing here anyway?" I asked him.
"I came to say farewell." He looked at me with uncertainty in his eyes.
"Why? I mean I know why, but like I said, we will see each other in a few days." I looked at him
"Will, I just wanted to see you one last time before you left. I.... I.... I love you." He said meekly.
"Oh Lance. I Love you too. I just wish you had said you were coming here. I would have involved them." I pointed behind me for him to see three big security guards walking towards us. Instinctively Jimmy reached in front of Lance and pulled him back.
"Relax, I know what they want." I said as I turned around.
"Yup its him. Do what you want." I stepped aside.
"Excuse us sir, but we have had reports of this man stalking our passengers. We need to take him into custody." One of the guards said.
"Listen to me, you're not taking anybody into custody here." Jimmy said forcefully.
"Well then. If Mr. James would kindly give us his autograph, we will be happy to keep his presence a secret." The guard said again.
Looking at me intently Lance just smiled and said, "I'd be happy to." Giving me an evil grin Lance signed a couple napkins and sent the guards away. "That was a mean trick Mr. Benson." He said.
"A well See La Vie." I said to him. Looking around I noticed a small hallway that was just on the other side of the bookstore. " Say Lance, since I am going on a flight, I need some new reading material. Care to join me in the bookstore?" I asked bobbing my eyebrows.
Catching my drift, he said, "Sure why not."
Walking towards the bookstore, he pulled me into a dark janitors closet before I could respond.
"Now I get to thank you for that little stunt back there." He said as he pulled me into a deep kiss.
"Wow, is that what I get for being good? What do I get for being bad?" I asked him.
"Just be bad and find out." He said as he slid his hands down the back of my pants.
"Ah, Mr. Bass? Just what do you think your doing?" I asked as he continued to massage my buttocks.
"Hmm... Giving you a taste of what to expect when you're bad." With that he slapped me as hard as he could on the ass.
"OW." I screamed before I realized where we were.
"Great. Now I'm dating a sado masachist. What is this world coming to?" I asked in jest.
"Well when your bad, you will be coming to me." Lance said as he kissed me one last time. Hearing my flight being called, I had to run out of the closet fast.
"WILL! Wait you forgot your reading materials! Here look at them when you get on the plane!" Lance shouted as he shoved something in my hand.
Running down the corridor, I handed the girl my ticket and turned to wave at Lance.
Slowly the gate shut and it was time to make my way to my seat.
Finding that Ben had gotten on this plane I took my seat next to him.
"Well? Did you find something to read?" He asked me.
"Huuh? Oh yeah, sorry here you go" I threw him the stack of papers that Lance had given me as I fastened my seat belt.
Suddenly Ben gasped and then grabbed his sided as he laughed so hard he almost fell out of his seat.
"BEN, WHATS SO FUNNY?" I asked him.
Pointing to the tray where the magazines sat, I looked at them.
Lance had grabbed the only things that where available in the closet before I left.
He had grabbed a Material Safety Data Sheet for a cleaning solution called Rexol, A three-day-old Miami Herald, and two copies the magazine called 'Jugs' The adult magazine for straight men.
Chuckling out loud I said, "Well there's a first for everything."
Well what do we think?
