Author's notes:

Hi everyone. I hope you are enjoying the story of Chris and Eric so far. I'm sorry that the installments haven't been very long. I promise that this one will be longer and more involved. If you haven't figured it out yet, the story is going to alternate between Chris' point of view and Eric's.

I love getting e-mails from you readers. I will value any comments, criticisms, suggestions, etc. that you may have. My address is gibsongirl101@hotmail.com. Thanks again for your letters!

Now for the legal stuff/disclaimers: This story is about two young men who fall in love. Sooner or later it will involve sex between the two. If this kind of stuff offends you, why are you here?

Lastly, if you are under 18 (or 21 in some states) you should quickly locate the back button and leave this site. (Or just don't get caught, lol).

Well, that's it, now onto the story! Enjoy!

Chris:

I woke up about an hour later, feeling much more rested and free than I had that morning. I looked to my side, and there was Eric, his dark head nestled on my shoulder. He looked like an angel, and I thought that if I could wake up like this every morning for the rest of my life, I would be a happy man.

I gently eased my sleeping beauty off my shoulder, and turned on my side, supporting my weight on my elbow. I studied Eric's face, and wished I could see his bright green eyes. I leaned down and lightly touched my lips to his. He sighed and rolled closer to me.

I hated to wake him up, he looked so peaceful, but I had heard some noises downstairs, and figured that it was probably his parents, or sister. "Eric, honey, you need to wake up now."

Eric moaned and rolled away from me. I gently shook his shoulder, until he opened his beautiful eyes to look at me. "Whassa matter?" he slurred, still slightly asleep.

"I think that your parents are home, sleep head."

"Is that all? Why'd you wake me?"

"Well, we don't want them to catch us in bed do we?"

"We're only sleeping. Besides, they wouldn't care."

"You mean they know?"

"Know what?"

"That you are gay?"

"Of course they do. I don't keep secrets from my parents."

"Oh," I said, getting out of the bed.

"Chris, what's wrong?" Eric asked, getting out of the bed too.

"I don't know if I'm ready for people to know about me. I mean it's one thing to put up with rumors, but another to actually come out."

"I understand, Chris. I don't want to rush you into anything. You take as long as you need to come to terms with who you are. Just remember that I love you, and will keep on loving you no matter what."

I smiled and hugged Eric to me. We stayed in the embrace for a long time, until we both began to get uncomfortable. WE pulled away and smiled shyly at one another.

"Chris, do you want to go out?"

"Where?"

"Well, we could go into Dallas and see a movie." I guess Eric knew how uncomfortable I'd feel in town, with all the prying eyes of the townspeople.

"OK. That'd be nice. We could even go to dinner too." As it was a Saturday, and no school in the morning, I didn't care about driving an hour to get to Dallas. It would be worth it to have a first date with my boyfriend.

"Ok, pick me up at, say, 5, and we'll leave then?" Eric asked.

"Sounds great. I'll go, do a few errands, and then come back for you at 5. See you later, honey."

Eric blushed, and kissed me quickly good-bye. Then I went down stairs, said a quick good-bye to Eric's parents, and drove the five minutes back to my house.

The house was empty when I got home. For that I was grateful. I really didn't want to face my parents right then. Especially when I knew that all I would see in their eyes was disgust.

I have always known that my parents were not perfect, but until this week I never knew that they were bigots. I guess I just never wanted to face the fact that I was the son of people who preached about equality, but believed themselves to be better than others. I don't know why I never saw it until now.

I was home only about ten minutes before I heard the doorbell. I peaked out the window to see Kyle, of all people, standing outside. I was somewhat worried about why he was here, but decided that it would be better to see what he wanted than to ignore him.

So I went downstairs, and opened the door. Kyle's back was to me, and I didnb't think that he had heard me open the door. I coughed lightly and Kyle turned around.

We were both quiet and after a few moments of uncomfortable silence Kyle said, "Is it true?"

"Is what true?"

"Are you gay? Is Eric your boyfriend?"

"How is that any of your business?"

"I'm your best friend, Chris. We shouldn't keep secrets from one another." Kyle and I just stood there looking at one another.

Then it dawned on me that Kyle wasn't upset about my sexuality. He was upset that I hadn't confided in him. He was upset because he thought that I didn't think I could trust him.

"DO you want to come in? I have something to tell you." Kyle nodded, and followed me into the living room. Not knowing how to start, I said, "Do you want something to drink?"

"Yeah, a Pepsi would be great."

"Ok, I'll be right back. Don't go anywhere!" Kyle smiled slightly and sat down on the couch. I took my time in the kitchen, pouring both of us a glass of Pepsi. Then I went back to the living room, handed him his glass, and sat down in the chair opposite the couch.

"So," Kyle said uncomfortably. "Are you?"

"Yes."

"How long have you known?"

"Honestly? About 3 hours."

Kyle laughed and said, "What are you talking about?"

"I didn't know I was gay for sure until this morning."

"Seriously?"

"Well, I guess I've always suspected. You know I've never really had a girlfriend. But I always just thought that it was because I hadn't found the perfect girl yet."

"How did you find out?"

"Well, this morning, Eric came over, and well...." I blushed bright red before finishing my sentence. "He kissed me. And I just knew."

"That you wanted him?"

"No, that I loved him."

Kyle sat in silence for a moment before saying, "Did you think that I would care that you were gay? Is that why you never said anything to me?"

"It wasn't that exactly."

"Then what was it? You know you are like the brother I never had? How could you think that I would care if you liked guys instead of girls?"

"Kyle, it wasn't that I doubted your friendship. It was just that I didn't know for sure myself until this morning." I paused. "And to tell you the truth, I did think that you would hate me for being gay because of how you avoided me these past few days."

"Chris, I avoided you because I was mad that you had never told me the truth. Not because I was disgusted with your sexuality."

"I'm glad we had this conversation, Kyle. I am relieved to know that we are still friends." "Always and forever, we are brothers." Kyle said, reminding me of the first time he had said those words, way back when we were only 8 years old.

It was summer, ont of those long, hot summers where the days seem to last forever. Kyle, our friend Brandon and myself had sneaked away from the babysitter and gone to the river to fish. It had been Brandon's idea to cut out fingers, and mix our blood.

So solemnly, we all pricked our fingers, and then pressed them together. Brandon had said, with tears in his eyes, "Now we will be brothers, always and forever."

Kyle and I had softly repeated, "always and forever, we are brothers." Then we had all wiped our eyes quickly and went back to fishing. But from that day on, we were brothers where it counted, in our hearts.

But our little part of heaven had ended that next summer, when Brandon drowned one summer night. We all had made plans to meet for a midnight swim. But our parents caught Kyle and me, so we couldn't go. But Brandon had, and fell and hit his head, and drowned.

"I wish Brandon were here." Kyle said, bringing me back to the present.

"So do I." We were both quiet, remembering out blood brother.

"I have to go. I have to be at work in fifteen minutes." Kyle said, looking at his watch. Kyle worked at the local movie theater. It only showed three movies at a time, but was a hotspot for the local teens, especially on Saturday nights.

"Ok. I'm really glad you stopped by Kyle."

"Me too. I'll see you later, call me ok?"

"Ok. Hey, can I tell you something? Like a secret?"

"You know that you can."

"Eric and I are going into dallas tonight. On a date."

"Really? Cool." Kyle turned to go, but then turned back to me. "Do you really love him?"

I thought a moment before saying, "Yes I do."

"Does he feel the same way?"

"Yes. He does."

"Good. I don't want anyone hurting my little brother." Kyle laughed. "You are only three hours older than me, bro." I reminded him. "But thanks."

"You're welcome. Bye. Have fun tonight and don't do anything I wouldn't do!"

"That's not much. I'll call you and tell you all the little details. Like how he kisses..."

"Hey," laughed Kyle, "TMI!" (TMI is our abbreviation for Too Much Information.)

"Bye, bro. Have fun at work tonight!"

Kyle waved over his shoulder, before getting into his green Jeep, and speeding away. I went back insided and look at the clock. It was 3:30.

"Shit!" I cried out loud. I only had an hour and a half before I ahd to go pick up Eric. So I went up to my room, and started to decide what to wear on my first date with my boyfriend.

"My boyfriend!" I thought. That sounds good. Real good. I couldn't wait to see him. I hope he felt the same way.

Just as I was about to head to the shower, the phone rang. "Hello?" I said into the receiver when I picked it up.

"You'd better be careful fag!" a raspy voice said on the other end.

"Who the Hell is this?"

"You're gonna die, fag!" a wild laugh followed this threat.

"Who the fuck is this?" there was no answer. "Answer me, asshole!" All I heard was the dial tone.

I sat down on my bed and wondered what to do. I didn't think that the person on the other end was serious, but should I call the cops anyway? No, I didn't think it was serious. And besides, no one was going to kill me. That kind of stuff only happened in the movies. Didn't it?
