The following story was originally written for a german website and later printed in my first book "Der Neuanfang". After I translated my story "Never saw a miracle" into english and getting lots of good feedback, I decided to translate this story, too. Some readers wrote me that I don't have to apologize for my English -- so I won't anymore g.
The story is set in Germany, so of course there are a few things unfamiliar to people from other countries. As example temperatures are given in degrees centigrade: 0 C are 32 F, minus 5 C are 23 F and so on. If there are any things you don't understand, please feel free to ask me about it. I love getting emails anyway, and I'd like to say my thankyous to all of you who already wrote me.
There are two other stories of mine published here on niftys:
"Never saw a miracle" in the gay/highschool section
and
"Different" in the gay/no-sex section
If someone is interested in reading the original german story, it's here:

Look for "Peter's Stories". And if some is interested in buying my books (in german language, of course): they can be bought directly from me, even with my signature which will be worth millions when I'm a Nobel prize winner someday -- lol...
I'm sorry for the delay, but with job, family and especially the Olympics I didn't have much time on my hands to translate.
But now let the play begin...

A new beginning -- Part 17
Copyright 2001-2006 by Peter Conrad, Peter_Co@web.de
At the Steins home the coffee table already was waiting for us. Philipps whole family was present, except Kevin. Veronika and Tim had tired the little boy out totally, he now was asleep. Nice tactic, I decided to keep it in mind for future babysitting times.
For a while we talked about safe topics, I had to answer a few questions about myself, but everything was harmless. But then came the unavoidable, the questions became more and more personal and intimate. And in contrast to my own mom Philipps mother didn't keep them between four eyes.
"Boys, we know that we can't forbid you anything and that we can't controll your lifes. And we don't really want to know what happens in your rooms. We only want you to be carefull and safe when you have sex. So please use rubbers and whatever else you need -- I guess you know more about than we do."
Shit, she said it not only with Philipp and me present, his father and his little sister were still at the table, too!
"Danny, seeing the look on your face I guess that this topic already came up at your home, didn't it?"
"Yes, Mrs. Stein, not even three hours ago."
"Okay, then I can hope that it has an effect on both of you. Philipp, you might not know it, but when you had those stomach problems a few months ago and you had your blood testet we also ordered an HIV test. It came up negative, so if you didn't have sex after it you should be clean."
"MOM!"
"I guess this means that you didn't have sex since then. Danny, what about you?"
And I thought that MY mom was bad...
"My last blood test was in december, it was a complete one with HIV test, too. It came up clean."
"Good. I hope you don't take offence by my questions. We know that this all-gays-have-aids-stuff is pure nonsense, but still we had to be sure that Flip is safe."
"Mom, I only hope that you'll ask Veronika and Tim the same questions!"
Mrs. Stein laughed.
"You can count on it! But we will do it when Tim is here, too. Vroni, you can already prepare your boyfriend for it."
Finally the big palaver was over and we were allowed to go to Flips room, where we got comfortable.
"What do you think, Flip, should we go to the movies with the youngsters?"
"Do you really think that they want us there?"
"Well, Tim offered it. And remember: Brad Pitt!"
"For me Danny Thom is enough."
"Thank you, thank you. So we won't go?"
"I don't know. What else could we do?"
At this moment my brand new cell phone started to ring.
"Thom."
"And this is Thom-As."
"Hi! How did you get this number already?"
"Your mom gave it to me when I called your house searching for you. Now please tell me how you convinced her to buy you a cell phone! Or did you buy it with your own money?"
"Hehe, she offered it herself. Well, with a little help from Reinhardt."
"Looks like Reinhardt is a good addition to your family."
"Yes, absolutely. Now, why do you call? What can I do for you? Do I have to rescue you again?"
"Come one, I'm not THAT bad!"
"Sorry, but I have to disagree..."
"Okay, okay! And if I wasn't that bad you would be bored to death. But this time I'm not in trouble. But ... but you could still help me with something. Did you already do the chemistry homework?"
"I knew it!"
"Come on, you know that me and chemistry don't fit together. Will you help me?"
"When?"
"Could you come over in an hour or so? Then we'll do the chemistry stuff and after that I'll spring for a pizza and a movie. Christine will come, too, and we'll have the house to ourselfs, my folks are visiting some relatives."
"If I come -- and I emphasize the IF -- could Philipp come, too?"
"Hehe, so you're working on the cutie?"
"I only follow your advice."
"Good boy, keep on doing it! Sure, he can come too. Maybe he knows more about chemistry than both of us together."
"Okay, plan on us being there in about an hour. If we can't come I'll call you."
"Thanks, you're my hero!"
"As always. See you later."
I ended the call und looked at Philipp.
"This was Thomas, he needs help with his chemistry homework."
"Yeah, I heard. I haven't them done yet also."
"Want to take care of it at his house? After that we'll have pizza and a movie. And his girlfriend will be there, too."
"Sure, why not. But aren't there lots of little sisters around?"
"No, the rest of his family is out."
"Good, I'd like to have a quiet evening."
"Flip, have you already thought about who we'll tell that we're together? I mean, I'll follow your decision, but I guess it would be good to have at least a plan."
"Hm. Only our families know it yet, and I'd like to keep it that way for now. You think that we should tell Thomas?"
"I won't push you, but he is my best and oldest friend. We don't really have secrets."
"If we tell him -- will he keep it to himself?"
"If we ask him to do so: yes. Thomas CAN take things seriously, you only have to say it to him."
"Let's just wait what happens, okay? If everything goes well and I don't piss my pants out of nervousness I'll give you a sign. Okay?"
"Okay. As I said, it's your decision. By the way, when I asked him if you could come, too, he told me to keep on trying to catch you."
"How did he mean this?"
"He just noticed over the last few days that I've totally fallen for you, and he teased me about it. And he said that I should go for you."
"So I guess I'll have to thank him."
"Oh no, not that! If you thank him he'll someday say that he's the reason that we got together."
"Okay, forget it, I don't want that!"
"Good. Now if we want to be there in an hour we have to get our stuff together. You need to take your chemistry stuff, and we have to get mine from home."
"Does he live far away?"
"The way is a little longer than the way from you to me, and with all that snow and ice..."
"Could it be that you don't really like the winter?"
"Come one, Danny. I LOVE the winter!"
"Shit! Does this meant that you'll drag me out of the house constantly?"
"Sure! There's nothing better and more healthy than being in the fresh winter air."
Oh no, stupid me had to find himself a winter loving boyfriend!
"Okay, Flip, but with one condition."
"Yes?"
"I'll follow you into the cold air -- and you'll follow me afterwards into the sauna."
"Why not? I haven't tried it before, but I sure would like to try it."
Now the future looked much brighter again. A few minutes later we had everything together, said goodbye to Flips parents, picked up my school stuff at home and almost exactly one hour after Thomas' call I rang the bell at his house. He kept us waiting, I had to ring it three times!
"You're here already!"
"Why already? I said an hour -- and it is an hour."
"Really? Shit, I didn't notice the time."
"Now how about letting us in, or my brain will freeze over and you have to find someone else to help you with your homework."
"Oh, sorry, come in."
He didn't need to tell that twice, and a few minutes later we were in his room. As the only boy amongst sister he was the happy owner of his own room, his sisters had to share.
"I already cleared the desk to have room. By the way, welcome Philipp. It's good that you came, too."
"I also haven't done the chemistry stuff yet, so this was a nice idea to do it together."
"Okay, sit down. Before we start: you want something to drink?"
We decided on coke, and Thomas left the room to get the drinks.
"Take this seat, Flip."
"Ahem... I ... Well, before I do anything else I'd need the toilet. Do you know where it is?"
"Sure. Out of the room, then right at the end of the hall."
"Thanks."
Philipp left the room, but I wasn't alone long, Thomas came back with a tray full of glasses and bottles.
"Here you are. Where is your beloved Philipp?"
"Toilet."
"Okay. I just hope he won't distract you to much from the homework."
"Don't worry, I'm not that bad."
"I hope so. And, did you already made some progress with him?"
"Sorry, I don't kiss and tell."
"Then I guess I have to find out myself."
"Find out what?"
Flip returned at the right moment.
"Ahem... nothing important. Now, can we start?"
We did exactly that, and because I had already done this stuff a day before it wasn't too difficult. We were almost done when the bell rang.
"This must be Christine. Danny, could you let her in? Philipp and I will be done when you're up here again."
"Sure, no problem."
I went down, grabbed the door handle, opened the door and ... found myself in a big, wild hug! A big, wild hug from a girl! Brrrrrr!
"Finally! I'm almost frozen already!"
"Sorry. I came as fast as I could. But could it be that you mixed me up with someone else?"
"What? Oh Shit! Danny, I'm so sorry! I had expected Thomas to open the door, but I guess I was expecting too much from this disloyal boy. Can you forgive me? I hope it wasn't to terrible for you to get hugged by a girl."
"I guess I'll survive. At least you didn't kiss me."
"Well, then I had realized that it wasn't Thomas I was kissing."
"Who knows, maybe you would have dropped him then. I mean, after being kissed by me, who would want to be kissed by someone like Thomas again? By the way, he's upstairs in his room together with Philipp, doing the chemistry homework. I'm done already, that's why he sent me down to openthe door."
"Thanks for saving me from the cold."
I took care of her coat, then I followed her to Thomas' room.
"He you lazy butt! You don't have the time to greet your girlfriend? Because of you poor Danny had to survive my wild hugging attack!"
"What? You jumped his bones?"
"Sure! How should I know that it wouldn't be my boyfriend to open the door? That this lazy boyfriend was sending a guest to do his work?"
"Damned, Danny, I hope you'll forgive me. It must have been terrible for you!"
"As I already told Christine: I'll survive. But if I was you at least NOW I would greet my girlfriend!"
Thomas did exactly that, and as a tolerant guy I put up with this blatant showing of heterosexual aberration. I looked over to Philipp, more or less being a little jealous of Christine and Thomas. Flip looked back at me a little nervously, I guess he was still fighting with himself about telling them or not telling them.
"Now that's what I call a welcome! Now, boys, are you all done? And by the way, who's that cutie at the desk? I haven't seen you before."
"That's Philipp, he's new in our class. Flip, this is my girlfriend, Christine."
"Nice to meet you."
"Likewise."
"And, are you done?"
"Yes, we can start the nice part of the evening. Let's go down to the living room, it's more comfortable, and the tv screen is bigger."
Thomas and Christine went to the door -- and I had an idea.
"Philipp and I just put our stuff together, we'll follow you in a few moments."
"Okay. In the meantime I'll order the pizza. What do you want?"
I looked at Flip.
"I'll take salami."
"Get me hawaii."
"Why am I not surprised, Danny. Okay, come down when you're ready."
Did Thomas suspect that "putting our stuff together" wasn't the only reason for us to stay in the room a little longer? Without him and his girlsfriend being there? At least Flip was definitely following my thoughts, as soon as Christine and Thomas had left the room he hugged me and pressed his lips against mine. Now that was something I couldn't get enough of!
Sadly we didn't have much time, we soon had to be down in the living room. Reluctantly we let go of each other.
"Danny, I'm sorry."
"What for?"
"For not showing my love for you infront of the others. I noticed how you looked when they kissed, and it would have been the best time to come out to them. I just couldn't do it, I'm really sorry."
"Flip, you don't have to apologize. I told you before that I'll give you all the time you would need. And I meant it."
"Really? You're not mad at me?"
"How could I be mad at those eyes..."
"Thank you."
"No problem. But I guess we should hurry now, the others are waiting and will get suspicious if we take much longer."
So we packed our school stuff and left the room. I guided Flip down to the living room. We were just at its door when something stopped me, I acted on the spur of the moment and stopped Flip, too. In the room our host and his girlfriend were talking -- loud enough for us to hear everything without them realizing that we were eavesdropping.
"Tho-Jo, are they a together? I think they would give a cute couple."
"Yes, it would be nice. Danny is totally in love with Philipp, but they aren't together. It's a shame."
And then it happened. Taking me totally by surprise Flip dragged me into the room, startling Christine and Tom.
"Yes, they ARE together. I mean, WE are together!"
I had expected everything, but not that! I just could hope that Flip was really ready for it and didn't just do it for me.
In the meantime the other two came out of their shock, and Thomas looked at me totally surprised.
"Is this true, Danny?"
I guess actions say more than words, I quickly looked at Philipp, who smilingly nodded his head, so we repeated what we had done only minutes before, but this time infront of Christine and Thomas.
"Wow!"
Thomas was right. Wow! And seeing his totally surprised face made Flips kiss even better!
"I told you that they would make a cute couple! Just call it a womans intuition. Congratulation, boys!"
We thanked Christine and laughed about the still a little shocked Thomas.
"But how ... how long did you keep it a secret from me? I mean ... when did it happen? How long are you together?"
"Since yesterday, it happened almost exactly 24 hours ago."
"What? And you didn't find the time to tell your best friend?"
"Sorry, Thomas, I'm the one responsible for that. I asked Danny to not tell it for now."
"Why?"
"Come on, Thomas! Flip is only out to his family and mine -- you're the first outside the families he came out to. He just had accepted that he's gay, he doesn't need to broadcast it."
"Okay, okay, so I guess we should feel honoured that he decided on telling us."
"Absolutely. And it was HIS decision, so you should thank him."
"Fine. Thank you for trusting us, Philipp."
"No problem. But please, keep it to yourselfs for now, okay?"
Both Thomas and his girlfriend nodded, and I only could hope that my best friend would really keep it quiet.
Philipp and I used the time before the pizza guy showed up to tell the others about how we finally found together. When we were done they were laughing loudly.
"That's so typical Danny! You never take the direct approach. Why make it easy when you can make it complicated..."
"Haha. Only the result is what counts. And I'm totally happy with the result!"
"Me too!"
"How cute, look at the lovebirds, Christine. How lovingly they look at each other."
"Let them be, Thomas-Johannes! You should be happy for them!"
"I am, Christine, I really am."
"I hope it. For you, old friend. Or should I tell Christine how YOU look whenever you talk about her?"
"Don't you dare!"
"It's your call..."
We were stopped by the pizza guy, and five minutes later were filling our stomachs.
"What movie will we watch today, guys?"
"Well, I thought about Matrix reloaded, especially for Danny, because of Keanu Reeves. But I guess this isn't necessary anymore..."
"Will you just stop teasing me?"
"Okay, okay, sorry..."
"Well, I like the idea of Matrix reloaded. I mean, girls can like Keanu, too."
Thomas looked a little shocked at his girlfriend.
"Do I have to get jealous now?"
Christine grinned at him.
"I don't know..."
The next two hours we spend with the movie. Thomas and Christine were on the couch, I snuggled up to Philipp on the loveseat. I tried to fairly split my attention between the tv screen and my boyfriend, and I have to say I did really well! At least 10 percent of the time I really followed the action on the screen, the rest I took care of Flip. And I have to say he liked it! When we realized that Christine and Thomas were doing the same we lost all inhibitions and lost ourselfs totally in each other. We didn't even notice the end of the movie.
"He you two! Stop it! The movie is over for more than 10 minutes now!"
As if I would care about the movie, I had so many years to make up for.
"What's with the jealousy, Thomas? As if you have watched the movie."
The caught smile on their faces showed me that I was right on target.
The next hour we spent talking about everything and nothing, and I realized, that Christine was very different from Thomas' former girlfriends. Not only was she goodlooking, she also was very intelligent. Now I knew why he was so careful with her. This wasn't his usual one night stand, this seemed to be the real thing! He must be really suffering from not having sex with her yet, but she was worth it. Well, it was the same as for Flip and me, and I was really happy for my best friend.
It came the time to go home, it was late and we had a long day behind us. I called home to tell my folks that I would bring Flip home and would come home within the next hour.
Thomas had the same idea. Well, of course not about bring Flip home! He decided to join Christine on her way home, and eventhough both Christine and Flip tried to talk us out of it we didn't gave in.
We had to go in different directions, so we said our goodbyes at the door of Thomas' house. My best friend patted my shoulders and whispered into my left ear.
"Congratulations, Danny. It was time. Now don't let him go again!"
"I don't plan on it, I'm not THAT stupid."
"I hope so. Okay, see you tomorrow or so."
"Bye."
We two couples split up, and I walked together with Flip through the dark and cold night. It was after 11pm, and there were almost no people on the streets. We moved fast and didn't talk -- I guess the words would have been frozen in our mouths already. It was really COLD! Shortly later we were standing infront of the Steins door.
"Will you come in with me for a few minutes?"
"I'd like to, but I really have to go. Will I see you tomorrow?"
"No, sorry. We are invited to a relatives birthday in Dresden, and we will be there the whole day."
"Shit."
"Yes, totally. But on monday we'll see each other again."
"Okay. And knowing that you'll be there I even love going to school! If only my mom could hear this..."
"Haha, me too."
"I really have to go now. Flip, it was a great spending the whole day with you! We should repeat this soon. And maybe the next time without Thomas and Christine..."
"You naughty boy! But you're right, it was a great day. My best day for a long time now. Please be careful on your way home. Not that some bad guys kidnap you."
"They wouldn't stand a chance, now that I have something or better someone to fight for."
"Ah, flattery... But I love it. I love YOU!"
"I love you too."
I looked around, everything was clear, we were alone, so we gave each other a long goodbye kiss. Then I reluctantly left my lovers arms and started my way home. Shortly later I stepped into the house and found mom and Reinhardt watching tv.
"I'm home."
"Good evening, Casanova. And, how was it?"
"Sorry, Reinhardt, a gentleman doesn't talk about such things..."
"Does this mean that we should worry, Danny?"
"Mom, didn't we talk about it already?"
To ease her worries I sat down for a while and told them about my day. When I was done Reinhardt looked at me with fake severity.
"So. Movie evening. Let's see if you really watched the movie. Tell me what it was about. And please from the first minute to the last!"
"Well, it all started with..."
"No, no, it's okay. We believe you. Don't we, Maria?"
"I guess we just have to."
Absolutely.
"Is Tim home already?"
"Already? It's almost midnight! He came home hours ago, and I think he's already in bed."
"With Veronika?"
"Now don't talk him into it!"
"I just wanted to know, not that I walk in on them."
"No, he's alone."
"Okay, then I'll go to bed too. Sleep well."
They wished me a good night, then I walked up to our room. I noticed light under the door, so I didn't need to be quiet to not wake my brother up. I opened the door and went in.
"Hi little brother."
"Hi Danny! Back already from the big love adventure?"
"I don't know what you're talking about. We only had a nice evening, together with Thomas and Christine."
"Sure. And I still believe in Santa Claus."
"Don't overdo it, little one. Or do I have to ask you what you did with Veronika?"
"We did nothing bad or naughty!"
"Sure..."
"Did you and Philipp tell Thomas and Christine that you're a couple now?"
I laughed.
"We didn't only TELL them..."
I told Tim about what happened at Thomas' house, and Tim found it quite funny.
"I didn't think that your Philipp had it in him."
"It came as a surprise to me, too, when he dragged me into the room and told them everything."
"Didn't you like it?"
I grinned.
"I sure did like it! I was just totally surprised. And I found it ... hm ..."
"Cute?"
"How did you know that I would say cute?"
"Because it's your favourite word when you talk about Philipp."
"Really? Well, I guess you're right. I just hope that he didn't only do it because of me. I don't want him to think that he has to do something for me what he actually doesn't want to do."
"He isn't stupid, I'm sure he thought about it before he did it."
"You're right, he isn't stupid. I mean, he fell in love with ME!"
My brother laughed.
"At least you don't suffer from a small ego."
"I never said I did."
In the meantime I had taken off my warm clothes and now looked over Tims shoulder, who set at the computer wearing already his cozy footed sleeper.
"What are you looking at? Porn?"
"As if I would look at such dirty things!"
"We'll see, I'll check your browser history later."
"You won't find anything naughty. I'm just downloading some music."
"Okay, maybe I'll believe you. I'll take a quick shower, then I'm ready for bed. I'm totally tired out."
"Okay, when you're done I'll go to bed, too."
"You don't have to, you won't disturb me."
"I'm tired, too."
If he said so. Twenty minutes later I was fresh and clean and layed down in my cozy bed. Tim switched off the computer and took care of the window and the heating, then he was in his bed. We didn't even talk anymore, just wished each other a good night, and shortly later I was asleep.
