Author's Note: I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone who has given me feedback on the first installment of "Nic." I decided to continue writing as soon as I realized there was some interest; don't get me wrong, I write for myself, too, but it's always good to know people are paying attention.

I was given some consistent feedback in certain areas, so I'd like to address those now. Jack and Nic's relationship is a strong one, and their relationship will likely change throughout the story. Additionally, there are more characters to be introduced, so try not to analyze the plot too much before reading further into the series.

Also, many of you mentioned that I didn't put you to sleep during the first installment. Let's hope that continues to hold true.

Contact: I love feedback. If you end up liking or disliking the story, let me know. I find it encouraging to know that people are reading and analyzing what's happening. You can contact me by e-mail at "niftynic06@gmail.com."

"Don't look so nervous; hop in," Will said smoothly.

Nic quickly gathered his wits and climbed into the Explorer. He quickly glanced around and then realized that it was dead silent, save the hum of the car.

"So..." Nic asked, "How are you?"

"Fine...your house was easy to find, which helped," replied Will.

"That's good. So...movie?"

"Sure. Got anything in mind?"

Nic pondered for a moment, trying to list off movies in his head. He couldn't really think of anything that was playing at any of the theaters. Feeling a little more comfortable after seeing Will in person and discovering that he wasn't 30, he made a bold move.

"I can't think of anything playing. We could rent something and watch it at one of our houses," he suggested cautiously.

"That sounds fine. My parents are out of town on business and we have a huge TV, so we could watch it at my place," Will countered.

"Sure! What kind of TV is it?"

"42-inch plasma," Will answered with a smile.

Nic was feeling giddy about the day so far. He wasn't a slut or anything, but he had really enjoyed talking to Will online and he seemed just as charismatic in person, if not more so. He wondered what would end up happening. What if he liked him after today? Would they be dating? No, that wouldn't be realistic. Nic tried to clear his mind and not think past the present, but he had a hard time of it.

"So, Blockbuster?" Nic blurted out.

"Yeah!" replied Will.

"What the hell? Exorcism of...what?" Nic muttered as he stared at a movie in disgust.

"Beats me. Whoa, what about this?" Will held up a movie for Nic to see. There were two guys on the cover and it looked interesting.

"Hmm..." Nic pondered as he read the back. "Sounds good to me."

Will grabbed the movie out of Nic's hand and gave him a playful look before half jogging over to the end of the line so they could rent the movie and see if it was actually any good. The two boys continued to make small talk, joking about their surroundings, as they got through the line and rented the movie. Nic tried to argue that he could pay for the movie, but while Nic was trying to argue, Will took out his wallet and paid for the movie. Just a few short moments later, they were back in the car heading to Will's house.

"What do your parents do that keeps them out all the time?" Nic asked. He wasn't used to parents who weren't available at all hours of the day like his. He tried to picture having that kind of freedom, but he was unable to comprehend it. Granted, his parents worked late, but they were always by the phone and the family spent time together when they were home.

"They work for the government, so they're basically sent out wherever they're needed. It's ok for me because I get to do whatever I want, more or less," Will replied and gave Nic a huge grin. Nic smiled back.

"What kind of music do you like?" Nic asked, trying to change the subject.

"Anything works for me," Will said casually as he started pressing buttons on the radio. They were programmed for different stations, so Nic got to hear some of what Will listened to. "Hear anything good?" Will followed up.

"Hmm...this is good. Let's go back to it," Nic replied as he pressed one of the buttons. Alternative music came on and he turned down the volume so he and Will could still chat.

"What do you look for in someone you might...date or something?" Will asked, not wanting to give Nic the impression that he was set on dating him for fear that he might think it was weird.

"The usual stuff I guess. I want to be with someone who's funny, smart, nice, and all the things that going along with those...but, I guess I also kind of want someone who I can just talk to. You know, like a close friend," Nic replied, glancing over at Will to see his reaction. He was silent.

"What about you?" he asked.

"It sounds stupid, but...the same, I guess. I think it's important to be with someone you can talk to. I was actually really worried at first because a lot of guys I meet don't really have anything to say and just want to go mess around. It's fun and all, but it doesn't really do it for me. I'd really rather get to know someone and make something out of our friendship."

Nic nodded but couldn't think of a way to respond, so he didn't. He agreed with Will completely.

Soon, the two had arrived at Will's house and they got out of the car. It was a large, two-story home and was painted a kind of grayish-blue color with darker blue trim and a beautiful deck. Nic followed Will's lead since he didn't know his way around, fiddling with his jacket for a moment to make sure it still looked good.

"So, what do you think?" Will inquired.

"Wow, it's great! How big is your room?" Nic asked, not realizing until after he had spoken that his comment could've been taken badly.

"Normal I guess," Will replied as he shrugged. "Come see." He grabbed Nic's hand and pulled him inside and then up the stairs. Nic was looking left and right at pictures on the wall and bumped into Will as he stopped. He muttered sorry and then looked into the doorway to Will's room.

The room was spotless with gray carpet and windows on three walls. There was light shining on a queen size bed against one wall in the middle of the room, decorated with pillows and a comfy looking duvet. Will's desk and computer sat on another wall, and the entrance to his bathroom was in the corner by the closet.

Nic stepped in and looked around for a few moments longer, toying with little gadgets on Will's desk. As he turned around, Will kissed him on the cheek, making him turn dark red.

"You ready for the movie?" he asked casually.

Nic just stood there for a minute wondering what had happened before blinking and nodding. Will led him downstairs and into the living room where the plasma screen dominated the space. Light was shining in from the skylight, but with the press of a button, a panel slid over it so that there was no glare on the TV. Will sat down, remote in hand, on one of the sofas; Nic, still a little shocked from Will's kiss, sat down on the couch opposite Will and looked blankly at the screen.

"Are you okay?" Will asked, looking over at the boy.

"Huh...yeah. I just wasn't really expecting to turn around and get a kiss," he responded quietly.

Will relocated to the sofa Nic was on and looked him in the eye. "Sorry," mumbled. "You're way too cute. I couldn't resist." Nic couldn't help but smile at the comment. No one had ever told him he was cute before. He had talked to some people online, but he hadn't ever met any of them, so it didn't really count that they thought he was attractive. People look different from their pictures anyway. He felt himself smiling and realized he should stop being so juvenile.

"It's ok. You really think I'm cute?" Nic asked in near disbelief.

"Are you kidding? Yeah. It'd be great if things worked out so that we could date. I don't know if that will happen, but we've been getting along fine online for about 3 months and you're even better in person. Don't be so paranoid."

Paranoid? Nic guessed that he might have been a little paranoid about the whole situation, but only because he had never dated anyone before. It was also true that they had been getting along remarkably well. Maybe it would work out. The thought kept crossing his mind, but he realized that all he could really do was wait.

The movie started and it looked interesting, but Will's mind was elsewhere. He kept trying to look over at Nic without him noticing; he didn't really want to seem weird, and he felt that if Nic saw him looking over every five seconds, he might want to leave. About halfway through the movie, Will felt Nic's leg against his. He figured that it was probably an accident but put his hand down on the couch with the hope that Nic might put his hand on it.

A few minutes later, Nic picked up the remote to turn up the volume, and when he put it back, his hand moved to Will's, hoping it wouldn't offend him. Will took hold of it and squeezed gently to let him know it was ok, and the two sat that way for the rest of the movie. Nic knew he shouldn't feel nervous, but he was afraid maybe he wasn't doing it right. It was only holding hands, but what if there was some protocol he had to follow? Was he implying something by doing this? He looked back to the screen and saw that the credits were scrolling up the screen.

He turned back to Will, who was already looking at him. Their eyes met immediately and Nic became nervous about what he thought might be about to happen. Will softly kissed him on the cheek and then the lips to see what he would do. As he started to pull away, Nic kissed him back, squeezing his hand. As they separated, Will looked at Nic, who was looking back at him with a huge smile.

"Was that ok?" Will asked quietly.

"Yes. I was hoping for it this time," Nic replied as he moved in for another kiss.

The two boys met again and Will's hands immediately moved to Nic's back to pull him closer. He felt Nic's chest rise as he took a deep breath. Nic opened his mouth slightly and Will's tongue began to carefully explore his lips and mouth. It continued for a few minutes longer before they broke again, looking at each other in awe.

"Wow...thanks for the amazing day. I wish I could stay, but I had better get home," Nic finally said.

"Well, I'm your ride, smart one," Will responded, giving Nic one more kiss on the cheek before grabbing his keys. "Let's gooo!"

Nic coaxed himself off the couch and walked out to the car with Will. The car ride was quiet, both boys knowing that nothing needed to be said. When they arrived at Nic's house, Will looked over with a smile. "You're home!"

"Yeah. Thanks for a great day. I'll call you tonight?"

"That'd be cool. I was hoping you didn't feel weird about the kiss or something," Will admitted.

"No. It made my day!" Nic gave him a huge smile and got out of the car, waving back at Will as he opened the door to his house. Will took a deep breath and headed home. This kid was amazing.

Notes: Keep up the feedback everyone! I'm trying to write, but since I'm a full time student, some of the installments might be cut a little short. I thought this was a good place to end for this one, so hopefully there will be some point like that in each installment. It's a little longer, so I hope everyone is still awake.
