The only thing I have remotely in common with these boys is that Ashley Parker Angel and I were born on the exact same day---August 1, 1981
FIRST THINGS FIRST: I've been getting a lot of good feedback lately and I thank everyone very much for that. I truly do appreciate it. I'm home for Christmas break before my last semester ever at college begins in late January. I'm doing a lot of coaching for my old high school (ice hockey) but I think I'm getting my writing legs back underneath me. I hope this makes people happy and not sad haha. This will be the third chapter in the Randy's Story set. One more to go after this. After this is over I might do an individual character again or I might just redo important parts of the story and go into more detail with them. If you have any other ideas that you'd like to see in this saga please feel free to email me and tell them. I respond to every fan.

RANDY'S STORY- Part III -May 5, 2001
The phone rang, then it rang again and again. Randy came running out of the bathroom with soaking wet hair and a towel around his waist.
"Hello?" he said out of breath.
"I'm looking for a Randy Parker." A voice said
"Yeah that's me." Randy said.
"We have information that you wanted us to acquire." The voice said.
"It's about time, it's been almost a year." Randy said.
"Sir, I'm sorry but it takes a long time to trace a family tree, especially of the adopted." He said.
"I'm sorry. So what did you come up with?" Randy asked.
"I'd much rather we do this in person." The voice said.
"Alright, I'll grab my son and be down there around noon." Randy said.
Randy hung up the phone and headed towards Donna's apartment.
The three of them arrived at the adoption agency where Randy had applied almost a year ago for them to trace his past. He knew that he didn't have a lot of time with his disease and he wanted to see if anyone could take care of Johnny when he was gone. The last thing he wanted was for Johnny to go into adoption like him. It was a feeling that no one would ever wish on another human being. He was sure that Donna would take excellent care of him but he wasn't about to put that burden on her. She had a life of her own. All of this was bringing Randy down and he knew he had a job to do.
"Everything alright space cadet?" Donna asked him from the seat next to him.
Randy wiped a tear away from his eye. "Yeah, we're here." He said.
"Hello Mr. Parker, please come in. My name is Cory Smith." Cory said.
"Please call me Randy." Randy responded.
"Ok, and who is this little guy?" Cory asked as he cooed with the baby.
"That's my son Johnny" Randy said.
"Then this beautiful woman must be the mother..." Cory started
"Can we please get down to business" Randy shot out telling him not to go there.
"Uhh, yeah sure. Ok we found a lot of interesting information." Cory said.
"I'm adopted...how interesting can I be? What am I related to a celebrity or something?" Randy said laughing.
He noticed Cory wasn't laughing however.
"Am I?" Randy asked
"Randy, what I'm about to tell you will be very hard to stomach but you're gonna have to believe me." Cory said.
"Ok." Randy said.
"Have you ever heard of the band O-town?" Cory asked him.
"Yeah they're pretty good. Got a few good songs. What is one of them my distant cousin or something." Randy said looking through the pictures of the guys in the folder that Cory had handed him in case he didn't know who they were.
"If I had to pick one of them to be related to me I'd pick this one" Randy said as he pointed to Dan's picture. "The rest of them don't even look like me."
Cory took the folder back from Randy and pulled out a headshot of Ashley and threw it down on the desk facing him.
"I'm related to that pretty boy?" Randy asked jokingly.
"He's your brother." Cory said.
Randy froze.
"What? That can't be" Randy said.
"It can't be? How much do you know about your background?" Cory asked
"Practically nothing. Just that I got dropped off by a lady named Julie." Randy said.
"I want you to look at the back of that picture and look at his statistics." Cory said.
"Ashley Parker Angel. So he's got my name in the middle of his. That doesn't mean..." Randy said trying to fathom all of this.
"Keep reading" Cory cut him off.
"Blond hair, blue eyes, native of Redding, California. Born on August 1, 1981..." Randy said and looked up.
"Is this some kind of sick joke?" Randy asked getting angry.
"This isn't a joke Randy. I double-checked it a thousand times. That's why it took so long to get you this information. You were a twin separated at birth." Cory said.
"Who did he grow up with?" Randy asked
Cory paused. "He was raised by your mother and a stepfather. A man named Ron Angel." Cory said.
Randy drew a deep breath.
"You're telling me that my mother is still alive and this kid is my twin brother." Randy said
"That's right." Cory said.
"C'mon Donna let's go home and pack." Randy said
-July 1, 2001---San Diego, California (Mission Beach to be exact)
Randy walked into the San Diego airport where someone said that the Pop Odyssey Tour was starting. He wasn't even sure if this was where they were getting off. He wasn't sure if he would be able to get anywhere near these guys.
He looked down at the sign he made. 'Ashley I'm your twin brother'
"I can't be serious." Randy said out loud.
The fans will have a million signs. How is he going to pick this one out? All these thoughts were discouraging him and he almost turned around and went back to the hotel, thinking this was a bad idea. Then he thought of Johnny.
"No I have to keep going." Randy said encouraging himself.
He also saw a bunch of screaming girls around the corner, which told him that his rumor had been true. They were here. Randy went around the corner and saw a ridiculous amount of people. He fought threw the crowd, using his decent size as a guy to get semi- near the front.
All of the sudden he saw him. Ashley was standing there next to Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys and he was just looking around flashing smiles to people. Randy held up his sign as high as he could.
It seemed for just a second Ashley looked over and stopped waving and smiling. He squinted a little to make out the sign through the screaming fans and other signs. Then Nick Carter asked him a question and they started walking away.
'Holy shit I think he saw me.' Randy thought to himself.
-July 10, 2001 (Atlanta, Georgia)
"Thanks. Keep the change." Randy said as the cab drove away.
'C'mon Randy let's try this again.' He thought to himself.
He walked up to the casual style restaurant that he had traced Ashley to. He walked in and looked out on the deck area. Of course it was sealed off. He saw Ashley joking with Nick Carter again, this time also with the guy he thought looked like him, Dan was his name if his memory served him right and also Devon Sawa.
"Apparently my brother has cool friends" Randy said out loud.
The words 'my brother' just sounded weird to him but he shook it off and moved towards the deck. A waitress immediately cut him off. He had a feeling this would happen.
"I'm sorry sir but you can't go back there." The waitress said.
"Please I just need to talk to..." Randy began to talk but saw Ashley walking towards a limo.
By now the manager had come out and began to restrain Randy. This was becoming incredibly frustrating for him. He looked at Ashley getting into the limo and all the commotion around him seemed to get quieter. He saw his brother turn and look into his eyes. He seemed to be thinking something then got in the limo and drove away.
-July 21, 2001
Randy took a deep breath. One more cab ride. This was it. He couldn't take going through this anymore. This was so frustrating and was full of dead ends. If this didn't work he was just gonna hand Johnny over to adoption, as shitty as it sounded. He paid the fare for the cab and got out.
He looked at the huge house as he walked over the rock path.
'Damn, he lives here?' Randy thought to himself
He stopped when he saw the security guard waiting in his booth. Randy snuck up next to the booth so that he was kneeling down under the window. The security guard was just reading the paper. He picked up a stick and hurled it across the yard, hitting the fence about 20 yards from the booth.
The security guard quickly got up and ran out towards where he heard the noise. Randy slid in behind his back and through the opening in the fence.
He smiled to himself as he walked towards the door. His smile was erased as he saw Ashley walk out of the house, with Nick Carter in tow again. Randy knew he had to move quick.
"Ashley! Finally I've gotten a hold of you." Randy yelled out
Ashley turned and seemed shocked to see him here. Just then a security guard came and started to restrain him.
"Very sorry guys, he got past me." The security guard said.
Randy was waiting to be hauled off in a squad car or something and finish his little adventure but he heard Ashley speak for the first time.
"Hang on a second. Let him go." Ashley said.
"Ash, what are you doing?" Nick asked him.
"Are you sure Mr. Cart...I mean Mr. Angel." Randy heard that and understood. A smile came to his lips. His brother had really made a life for himself.
"Yeah I'm sure. This guy has been following us for a while now. He's gone from San Diego to Orlando trying to get a hold of me. I think he's got something to tell me." Ashley said.
The security guard let go and stood a few feet back just in case.
"That's right Ashley I do have something to tell you." Randy said.
"Let me guess. You're my twin brother." Ashley said sarcastically.
"That's right" Randy said.
"Dude, I don't know where you came up with this crazy stunt to meet me but it's getting ridiculous now. You don't even look anything like me." Ashley said.
Randy wondered if this is what he sounded like when Cory told him the news.
"Twins don't have to be identical." Randy said
"Alright pal whatever you say. Come on in and I'll give you an autograph." Ashley said
The three men made their way into the living room of the house as the security guard stayed outside the door.
"Ash, I don't know about this. It's all kinda weird" Nick whispered to him as Randy looked around
"Let's hear him out at least. Alright pal what's your name?" Ashley said as he took out a piece of paper and a pen.
Randy smiled.
"Randy... Randy Parker." He said.
Ashley dropped the pen.
"Alright you got my attention" Ashley said as he looked up into Randy's eyes.
"What's the matter Ash?" Nick asked
"His last name is Parker." Randy said.
Ashley sighed and looked at Nick.
"My dad took off when I was real young and my mom remarried my stepdad so I took his last name and moved my last name to my middle name. My real name is Ashley Ward Parker." Ashley said
Nick looked like a part of him just completely didn't understand.
"Ash, I'm getting weirded out by all of this so I'm gonna go. I'll have my cell phone on. Call me when you figure all of this out." Nick said as he walked out.
"Hey was that Nick Carter?" Randy asked playing dumb
"Yeah it was." Ashley said with a confused look.
"He seemed pissed." Randy said
"I'll talk to him later. Anyway, look. I really doubt you're my twin brother but I'm willing to listen to you." Ashley said as they both sat down.
"Ashley look you've gotta believe me. I'm willing to take a blood test or whatever but I can prove to you that I'm your twin brother." Randy said.
Ashley seemed to get mad.
"This is ridiculous. There's no way it's true." Ashley said.
"Tell me how much you know about before you were born." Randy said.
"Well my dad took off when I was like two and I never really bothered my mom about it because I figured she just wanted to get on with her life." Ashley said.
Randy hesitated at the mention of his mother. He always wondered what she had done with her life.
"What I'm about to tell you is gonna be hard to accept but you're just gonna have to. Your mom...our mom had twins. We weren't identical of course but our mom didn't want anyone to know about it. Our parents always had trouble with each other and our mom figured that since our dad was already pissed about one kid he would be even worse with two. She decided that she would give one up for adoption. That one was me. She decided to keep you and send me to an adoption agency as far away from Redding, California as possible. She was looking at a map and saw Reading, Connecticut and decided that it ironically worked. We grew up away from each other and never knew about each other." Randy said.
"Her best friend at the time helped her...her name was..." Randy started but was cut off
"Julie...she's still her best friend." Ashley said.
Randy just smiled.
"Hang on a second. This is all crazy." Ashley said getting frustrated.
"Ash, tell me that you've never felt it inside of you. Tell me that you've always had a feeling like a part of you was missing. I'm your twin brother Ashley. You just have to accept it." Randy said.
Ashley stopped. He seemed hurt and excited and confused all at the same time.
"Look even if this is true. It's gonna be super hard to accept but other than that why now? Why did you find me now?" Ashley asked.
Randy took a deep breath. He had him hooked. Now here came the hard part, explaining this mess he called life.
"That's the second part of my news. My adoption parents died a few years ago from cancer and I had a girlfriend named Cindy at the time." Randy paused as he remembered his love and then continued. "I got real close with her and her family and I ended up getting too close. We had a kid. We decided to keep it and he's almost two years old now. We were doing good raising him but then my girlfriend and her whole family died in a car accident leaving me with Johnny to myself." Randy said as he pulled out a picture and showed it to him.
"I'm sorry to hear that" Ashley said as he looked at the picture. It was scary but it honestly looked like one of his own baby pictures.
"Here's the problem Ashley and this is where the story gets real crazy." Randy said as Ashley looked up. He saw the look in his eye.
"What is it?" Ashley asked.
"I'm dying. I've got AIDS. After my girlfriend died, I ended up fooling around with a few guys and must have gotten it since I was being so careless with my life from depression. Johnny doesn't have it and he's very healthy but I don't have much time left. It's a lot to ask, actually it's probably the biggest favor anyone can ask of anyone else but I'm asking you to take Johnny and raise him." Randy said.
The two of them just looked at each other, neither sure what the future held.
