"I can't be as good as Rodney so I quit the team," I told her. "He's the best."
She turned to Rodney and looked up to him with pride. For my remark I knew Rodney would let me suck his nips good.
"Is anyone taking bets on these fights?" asked Rodney. Brad was in hearing distance.
"Sure," said Brad. "Those guys at ringside are still taking bets for the this fight now."
"Find out the odds on Jessie," asked Rodney. And Brad went off.
"Santini won his last five, I think," said Steve.
"You mean he's the favorite?" I asked.
"It's a pretty even match. Jessie lost only one this season," said Rodney.
"So why don't you guys bet on Jessie?" asked Bianca. "He's your friend."
"Right on, Bianca. But these boys are short of cash."
"Oh, I'll lend you some," she offered.
"Okay," I said. "Fifty bucks on Jessie. Give it to Brad when he comes back and I'll pay it to Rodney if I lose and he'll give you the cash. Done, Rodney?"
"Okay, Bianca?"
"Sure." And she dug out a fifty from her bag. "Why aren't you betting, honey?"
"Okay. So I'll put another fifty on Jessie," he said pealing off bills from his wad.
It wasn't until Jessie's fight was about to begin that we discovered Santini was the odds on favorite at two to one and Jessie was getting 4 or 5 to one. The betting had us all wound up rooting for Jessie as the fight progressed. Steve and I kept nudging each other wondering if Santini would injure Jessie's dick.
Did Santini know how vulnerable Jessie was? You couldn't notice that Jessie's dick was tied against his thigh because boxing shorts are regularly oversized. But Jessie's were longer down to his knees.
After five out of ten rounds. Jessie looked like the one to beat. Most of the cheering came from Jessie's friends. During the seventh round, Jessie took a left jab from Santini that drew blood, a sign to Jessie that he had to turn on the heat, which he did.
It was during the tenth round that Jessie really pulled out all his punches, blasting Santini's face. The referee took Santini into a neutral corner which was a sign that he might be losing the fight. Santini came out energized, but Jessie was still on the attack. The bell that ended the fight had us all cheering. The judges side with Jessie.
Rodney and I were a hundred and fifty dollars richer. One of the judges entered the ring with a mike and announced that Jessie was the Maryland welderweight champ for the year. That made Jessie richer, too.
Now came the time when I had to tell Steve that I was going to a party for Jessie and that I had an invitation. Steve was expecting us to have a scene together. Again, I had to make another tough choice, but Steve persuaded me to go for Jessie's sake.
