Chapter Six
Everything was going well. Jake was doing well, he had become much more comfortable, he was making friends like crazy and was even bringing friends "home". When he first called this his home, I thought I would cry. I was so happy that there was this child blossoming in front of my eyes. His once average grades were now considerably better as he explained how he wanted to make Alex and I proud. Him and I worked every night at getting his grades up to the top five percent of his class. We were proud of him, I was proud of him. He was working hard and he was comfortable, I could see it in everything that he did. He even had a girlfriend, she was pretty and polite. Angel was her name and they were adorable together.
Alex and I were doing better. Not great, but better. We were still working on us. I was back sleeping in our bed, with him. Everything was moving slowly, we were back to being affectionate with each other. We held hands, kissed, but I couldn't trust him or myself enough to get...intimate. I didn't feel attractive, I didn't feel like he actually wanted me. It felt almost like he was just there because he was forced to be. Like, the ring on his finger forced him to be here and he couldn't leave. I didn't feel like he wanted to be here. It was taking a lot, and he was proving to me more and more every day that maybe this was actually going to work.
The day that I found out I had cancer, I didn't have any feelings about it. I didn't cry, I didn't get angry. I honestly, didn't feel anything. My brain and body was numb. I was going through the motions. In the car. Key in the ignition. Reverse. Drive. Park. Inside the car. Shoes off.
"Ash?" I heard Alex's voice but I ignored it. I walked upstairs to the bedroom, dropped everything that was in my hands and then dropped to my knees. There was so much weight on my chest that I couldn't breathe. My head dropped on my shoulders and immediately started crying. I couldn't feel my body, my body was shaking. I heard Alex come into the room but I didn't feel him wrap his arms around me. "What's wrong?" his voice sounded so far away. I kept crying, my body shaking. I couldn't stop.
"I-I-I..." I sobbed loudly.
"What, babe? What's wrong...?" Alex was stroking my hair slowly and trying to soothe me.
"I'm dying..." I hiccupped and looked into his eyes, he knew I wasn't lying.
"What...?" Alex stopped and just staring at me.
"I...I have cancer...brain cancer..." I sobbed again.
"How...what...when...?" he questioned.
"I found out today. I have brain cancer, that's why I've been so motion sick and dizzy lately. I knew something was wrong, I had to go in to the doctor's. They did a bunch of tests-"
"Wait! Why didn't you tell me? What the hell? Why the fuck didn't you tell me what was going on, I would have gone with you!" Alex looked mad.
"I didn't want you to worry. Plus, you were away filming. I didn't think it was anything serious," I couldn't stop shaking.
"Ash...I'm sorry," Alex hugged me tightly.
"It's-it's not your fault. I have to go back tomorrow for some more tests and to figure out a plan. Will you go with me?" I asked quietly, not having the balls to look up at him.
"Of course I will," he said quietly, rubbing my back gently.
"You're not just saying that, right...?" I hesitated a bit.
"Baby, no. I will be there, no matter what," he reassured. "Now, let's get up, get you in the shower and then maybe have some dinner. Jake should be home soon, do you want to tell him or wait until you know more?"
"Wait until after the appointment tomorrow, I think it'll be better if we know exactly what's going to happen, rather than tell him things that who knows if it'll happen or not...know what I mean?"
"Yeah, come on," he helped me up and walked with me into the bathroom, stabilizing me as I was still weak on my legs. I plopped my body onto the closed toilet and just looked at him.
"I'm sorry for how I've been acting lately," I watched his face as it showed confusion.
"What do you mean?"
"I haven't been myself. I haven't felt like myself. I know you're probably wanting things...that I haven't been able to give you in a while and I'm just...sorry for all of that. I haven't been a very good husband lately and with all of this happening, I need to be the best husband I can be because I don't know how long I'm going to have with you. I need to make every moment count, I can't take it for granted," I didn't want to cry so instead I bit into my cheek hard.
"Hey..." Alex forced my legs apart and kneeled between them, bringing my face into his hands. "You are the best husband that I could have ever asked for. I take you for granted on so many occasions, and I'm sorry for that, but don't you dare EVER think that you aren't the best husband on the planet." I couldn't stop the tears anymore and they rolled down my cheek slowly. "Baby, I'm serious. You're everything to me, have been from the day I laid eyes on you. You're amazing and handsome and smart and so talented and I get the pleasure of calling you mine every single day. No one else gets to do that but me. Do you know how amazing that feels, how special that makes me feel? There is no one on this earth that I would rather have beside me, every day and every night, but you. I know that I've lost sight of that before, and I will spend every day trying to make that up to you, but I know that I cannot live without you. I can't spend a day without you. I need you, baby..." he trailed off and his arms came around my middle as my arms went around his neck. We squeezed tightly and both refused to let go for a long time. I was nuzzling my face into his neck and breathing in his scent and his love and his warmth. This moment, this exact moment, is when I knew, without a doubt, that Alex and I were meant to be together and that we would make it through any and all obstacles, including this stupid cancer. I would beat this, I had to. I couldn't let him down.
Slowly we both pulled away and I wasn't sure if he had the intention of joining me, but I invited him anyway, "Should we shower?" I saw his eyes light up at my words. It had been awhile since the last time that he saw me naked and vice versa, this was a big step for me.
"Are you sure you want me to join you?"
"Of course," I said softly and ran my hand through his hair which was getting unruly again. "Babe, you need a haircut." I ruffled his hair a bit and got lost, playing with it and thinking about how it was when we first met, a little long but well-kept and so silky smooth. And now? It was long, shaggy, but still super soft. It seemed as though he hadn't been taking much care into his appearance, his facial hair was scraggly, nothing about him said `Well-kept, gay man', more so it screamed `maybe I'm a man who's just trying to relive his teenage years'. I laughed out loud at my own thought and then clapped my hand over my mouth, aware that there hadn't been anything funny going on around me, outside of my head.
"What's so funny?" Alex asked and I shook my head, I was not going to tell him that I thought he looked like a teenager like this, NO WAY JOSE!
"Nothing, not a damn thing," I stood from the toilet after kissing his forehead and then pulled my shirt over my head, I undid my belt and my jeans started to slide off my hips before I could even undo them.
"Babe, you've lost a lot of weight."
"What?" I looked at Alex, confused.
"Your body is great, always has been and always will be, but where you used to have tone and muscle, you're skin and bone baby. You haven't been working out and now with everything going on with...you should really get back at it baby. We'll make your body big and strong and feed you lots of vitamins and spinach and then you can be Pop-Eye and we'll kick this things ass. Together," Alex stood in front of me appraising my body and as I looked down, I could tell that he was right. My bones were protruding from my skin and I groaned.
"I'm sorry," I quickly grabbed a towel and covered myself up. "Maybe you should shower first and then I'll shower after you..." I reached for my shirt and Alex swatted my hand. He moved closer to me and slowly took the towel from my hands. As it dropped to the floor, so did he into a squatting position. From here, he quickly undid my jeans and let them pool on the floor and pulled down my boxer briefs shortly after.
"Don't you dare apologize. You are handsome and beautiful and perfect," he placed a kiss on my jaw and then on my collarbone. "Now, would you rather shower or have a bath? Either way, I'm joining you."
"Let's just shower, and then we can go and make dinner, or we can order in. Either or."
Alex made quick work of his clothes and then leaned over to turn the water on, setting it quite warm but not unbearably so. He stepped in first and then held his hand out of the glass door towards me.
"Come on, handsome, don't leave me in this big shower all alone," he joked and I cracked a small smile before I took his hand and moved into the shower. I didn't move very far, only enough to wrap my arms around his middle and hold him to me, resting my face into his neck.
"Don't let go," I whispered to him, barely audible over the sound of the water.
"Never," he whispered back and ran his hands all over my back and through my hair.
We showered at a leisurely pace, taking our time to relearn each other's bodies as he washed mine and I washed his. I stood back from the spray while Alex rinsed his body off and quickly washed and conditioned his hair. I blatantly stared at him, I mean...what's the point of having a husband if you can't just stare at his naked body from time-to-time? When Alex caught me, he just winked and continued with his routine, slowly he stepped out of the way and I stepped into the spray, following the same motions that he just did. I opened my eyes after rinsing out my hair and saw that Alex was, in fact, staring at me, just as I had been staring at him a few minutes prior. I reached over and gently took his hand in mine, pulling him towards me, both of us being careful not to slip. When his body came into contact with mine, I cupped his face in one hand while I held his hip with my other, I stroked my thumb across his cheek twice and then swiped it over his bottom lip. So handsome. Leaning in slowly, I closed my eyes and connected my lips to his, immediately relaxing and melting into him. Our kisses hadn't felt like this in a long time, and I was glad that it was back to this. My knees were weak and my heart felt like it was racing, I couldn't help the fact that I was starting to get hard. All from a single kiss. Slowly, reluctantly, we both pulled back. I saw the smile on his face and it reached his eyes for the first time in months. I knew that that same look was on my face and we kissed again, this time I let my tongue sweep out across his bottom lip, begging for entrance. He granted and I slowly slid my tongue along his, whimpering softly at the feel of it. Alex slowly and very gently, slid the tip of his tongue up along the roof of my mouth and I nearly lost it, I moaned loudly and instantly started kissing him hard and deep. I couldn't get enough.
Perfect. That's what Alex is. Absolutely, unequivocally perfect. Yes, we've both made mistakes, but things were getting better and he was looking hot as ever with his muscles all toned and hot and oh my god. I had to control myself and I gently pushed him against the wall of the shower, following him and not letting our lips disconnect. Both of us were hard, involuntarily I started to grind my hips against his, our dicks rubbing against each other. When the fuck did he get so fucking hot? I slid my hands over his arms, over his toned biceps and then down over his pecks and to his washboard abs. Everything about him was and is perfect.
He pulled away slowly, whispered, "Fuck, I love you," and then crushed his lips to mine again. He got a moan in response.
Finally I had to pull back from him, "We can't do this right now. Jake is gonna be home soon, we have to wait. I love you." I kissed him gently again and then shut the water off, I reached out of the shower and grabbed two towels, handing one to Alex. Stepping out of the shower, I started to dry off, taking my time and watching myself in the mirror. God, I looked rough. I really needed to hit the gym again. "Are you still working with that trainer?"
"Uhm, sometimes. I haven't lately cause I pretty well know what I need to do now. Why?" he was right behind me, obviously drying off and watching me.
"Do you mind if I use him for a while? I need to get this skin and bones back to being healthy."
"Yeah sure, I'll call him tomorrow for you," he wrapped the towel around his waist and then wrapped his arms around my waist from behind, pulling me into him. He was still fairly hard and I whimpered softly.
"Evil," I whispered.
"Turned on by handsome husband, more like," he smiled and kissed the back of my shoulder. I couldn't help but smile and blush at his words.
"Alex? Asher?" Jake's voice floated up the stairs and into the bathroom. I blushed brighter and moved out of the bathroom and towards the closet where I quickly got dressed in a pair of jeans and a baggy sweater, that just so happened to be Alex's.
"Be right down!" I heard Alex call out to the boy below. Even Alex was blushing. He quickly got dressed with me and I kissed his lips softly once more before I laced my fingers through his and we made our way out of the room and down the stairs to the waiting teenager.
"I'm hungry!" Jake was whining and I laughed quietly.
"What do you want for dinner?" I asked as I walked by and ruffled his hair.
"Will you make that baked pasta stuff that you made that one time?" super vague. Thanks Jake.
"Ugh, you're such a brat. But yes, I can cook baked spaghetti," I laughed and kissed the top of his head. "Do you wanna help?"
"Nah, I'd rather just watch."
"Alright, how's the homework load for tonight?" I unwrapped my arms from around Jake and started grabbing all of the ingredients for the spaghetti and homemade sauce and LOTS of cheese.
"Not much actually, I did a lot last night that I apparently didn't need to," he hopped up onto the counter as he spoke and smiled when Alex walked by me to get to the fridge. As he did so, he slid his hand across from my hip, across my back and slapped my ass gently. I gasped and laughed.
"Asshole!" we all laughed and then I clapped my hand over my mouth and laughed even harder. "Oh my god! I didn't even think!" We all stood around and laughed for a while at the hilarity of my oops.
I was making spaghetti sauce at the stove as Alex poured us all some juice. He set the glass down in front of me before kissing my cheek. It felt good to be acting like us again.
"I love you," he whispered quietly in my ear. I merely smiled at him and giggled quietly.
"I heard that!" Jake called out from a few feet away. More laughter ensued as I continued to make supper and the other two just watched.
"Y'all are lazy," I joked.
"Sorry, dad," Jake got up and grabbed some plates from the cupboard and cutlery from the drawer and started setting the table before what he said really clicked. I immediately put down the spoon I was stirring with and walked over to Jake, wrapping my arms around him tightly, hugging him as close to me as I could. "What was that for?" he asked when I pulled away.
"You called me `dad'," I said quietly and hugged him again.
"Oh, sorry!"
"No, don't ever be sorry for that. I mean, ever!" I just hugged him tighter and then let go and went back to the stove. "Wanna learn how to make this?"
"Yeah, actually, sure," Jake came over to the stove and we worked together. I taught him as much about cooking as I could while only making baked spaghetti. I had turned around at one point to grab more cheese from the fridge and saw Alex watching us with a huge smile on his face and his phone in his hands. He must have been taking pictures. I couldn't help but to smile back at him. Kissing him at this point, was a necessity, so I walked over and pressed my lips to his gently.
"I love you," I said quietly and smiled when Alex repeated the sentiment. Jake finished putting the ingredients into the baking dish and then set it into the preheated oven. "Alright, well, we've got about half an hour before that's done." I walked over to Jake and kissed the top of his head, "Thanks for helping, kiddo." I laughed at the small eye roll I got in return. I had been worrying lately about my affection towards Jake bothering him, I really didn't want to bug him with it or make him feel uncomfortable. "My hugging you and kissing you all the time doesn't bother you, does it? If it does, let me know and I'll stop, okay?"
"No, dad, I like it. It feels good. I've never felt loved like that before," he said quietly and then initiated the hug, not letting me go until he was ready.
"Well, you are loved, a hell of a lot."
"By both of us," Alex walked over and joined in on the hug. I smiled at our little family and just squeezed tighter. We continued to talk and joke around until the timer went off on the oven. I took the oven mitts and took the spaghetti out of the oven, I carried it over to the table and put it on a wooden trivet. "Boys, that looks fucking delicious, and smells SO good!" To see the smile that radiated off of Jake's face, made my day. We all took our spots at the table and I smiled at this family dinner.
I served everyone and then sat back and watched as they ate heartily and slowly started to eat my plateful. When I glanced up, I saw Alex watching me eat. When I started to feel full, I pushed my plate away only to have him push it back towards me.
"Eat," he said quietly and Jake just looked between Alex and I repeatedly.
"Trying," I muttered and tried to eat more, my stomach was full and not letting me shove in any more. "I can't eat anymore."
"Alright," Alex reached over and gently placed his hand over mine, stroking his thumb along the back of my hand slowly.
"Are you okay?" Jake looked concerned.
"Don't worry about it, just yet okay?" I responded and reached over to ruffle his hair. "We'll talk about it tomorrow."
"Alright...I guess that's okay..." he looked a little disappointed.
"Just, relax," I said softly.
****The next day ****
"ASHER! Stop fucking pacing, Jesus Christ!" Alex was frustrated and I shuddered at his voice.
"Don't yell!" I responded, pacing back and forth across our bedroom. I felt more than heard Alex walk over and rest his hands on my hips.
"Look at me."
I slowly raised my eyes up to meet his and immediately regretting it, seeing the sad look in his eyes.
"I love you, I'm not going to let anything happen to you. Everything will be okay. It has to be okay," Alex kissed my cheek and took my hand. "Come on, we don't want to be late."
We left our bedroom and moved out to Alex's car in the garage. We got in in silence and then started the half hour drive to the hospital in silence. Once parked, we both took a large breath and let it out slowly.
"I love you, no matter what we'll be okay," Alex turned to me and took my face in his hands. "I'm here for it all babe, I'm not going anywhere."
I took a deep breath and nodded, "I love you too. Let's go get this over with."
We moved from the vehicle and started our trek along the large hospital grounds towards the oncology department. We walked into the reception area and I checked in.
"Hi, I'm Asher Lenox-Pettyfer," I said to the lady sitting at the desk.
"Oh! Perfect, if you just have a seat in the little waiting room right over there," she pointed to some very uncomfortable looking chairs. "Dr. Kergin will be with you as soon as he can."
"Thank you," I patted the top of the desk once before making my way over to the chairs, Alex following closely. I wanted him to touch me but at the same time, I didn't know if I'd be able to hold it together. I was falling apart slowly and couldn't even handle sitting in this stupid chair.
"Breathe," Alex told me quietly and I realized that I had been holding my breath. I took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Good, now do it again." I listened and repeated my actions one more time.
"Thank you," I whispered and put my hand on his thigh gently.
"For what, babe?" he looked concerned.
"Being here, knowing me so well, yanno...everything," I laughed quietly and then stopped breathing when my name was called. "Let's go."
We both stood from our chairs and laced fingers together, following the young blonde nurse towards one of the examination rooms. We moved into the room and I wanted to cry, I wanted to just fall apart but I knew that I had to keep it together for just a bit longer.
Dr. Kergin walked in and sat down at the desk, "Asher, it's good to see you, though I wish it were on better terms."
"Hello, doctor."
"Pease. Sit." he motioned to the chairs in front of his desk. We both sat down, not letting the other's hand go. "So, as you both know, there's something seriously wrong with all of the scans that we did." He typed into his computer a few times and pulled up some images of the scans taken. On every single one, there was a clear spot on each image. "This-" he pointed to the spot. "-is a malicious tumor. Your blood samples indicated heightened white blood cells. Overall, you're looking at a brain tumor, sitting right there-" he points to the spot again. "This is what causes the dizzy spells, the double vision, all of that stuff. So, there's a few things we can do: one, we can do surgery, attack aggressively with chemo and hope for the best; or, two, we don't fight it off at all, and you live for maybe two years."
I had silent tears running down my face and I looked at Alex. His face mirrored mine, he was crying, but we both knew the attack we were going to do.
"Surgery, chemo, there is no other option," I said softly and squeezed onto Alex's hand.
"Alright, well, how about we schedule for the surgery as soon as we can?" Dr. Kergin said.
"As soon as we can, we need him back to 100% ASAP," Alex told the doctor.
Again, Dr. Kergin typed into his laptop and pulled up his calendar, "How is next Friday for you?" I looked to Alex.
"I'll be taping, but I'll tell them we have to postpone for a while," he said and kissed my cheek.
"Okay, sounds good," I looked up at the doctor. "We'll take that."
"I'll schedule you in. Here's what you will do: do not eat for 12 hours before the surgery, come at least 2 hours in advance so we can go over what is going to happen, get you anesthetized and prepped, and then get you into surgery just on time," Dr. Kergin told us.
*** Later that day ***
"What do we tell him? Do we tell him?" Alex asked me, questioning about Jake.
"Well, he needs to know, I just don't want to hurt him or worry him, I mean...I'll be okay, right?" I took a deep breath.
"Of course! Oh my god, of course," his arms wrapped around me and I couldn't stop the shakiness of the breaths I was taking.
"Dad?" I heard Jake's voice and instantly stilled.
"Now?" I mouthed and got a nod in return.
"Jake, can you come here? We're in the kitchen," I pulled from Alex and wiped my eyes quickly. Not much longer, Jake made his way into the kitchen and hopped up onto the counter, swinging his legs slowly. I came over and placed my hands on his knees. "Calm down."
"You sound so serious," I knew he'd be able to hear that I'm worried.
"I know, that's cause this is serious," I kept my hands on his knees and sunk a little bit so that my eyes were level with his.
"Uh...okay..." the hesitation was clear in his voice.
I turned around to Alex, "I don't think I can do this."
"You're not sending me back to my mom are you...?"
"NO! God no! You're staying here," I rubbed his knees gently.
"Okay, so what is it?" he was looking at me expectantly.
I took a deep breath and bit my lip, "I uhm...I have cancer. There's a tumor sitting on my brain, I have to go for surgery and chemo treatments."
"What...?" He just stared at me and I could see the understanding sink into his bright green eyes. "You...what...?"
"Yeah..." I had to take a step back from him when he hopped off of the counter.
"I need, I need to breath. I can't breathe," he was starting to hyperventilate and I felt terribly for him.
"Hey, come here," I grabbed his shoulders and pulled his body to mine. "I'm not going anywhere, you don't have to worry about anything, I promise you. I'm not going anywhere. I will always be right here. Right where you need me. I'm not leaving you, Jake. I promise." I held him against my body and I felt him crying, I refused to let him go. He needed comfort and he was going to get that comfort from me. I buried my face in Jake's hair and rubbed his back slowly and gently, crying quietly with him and I jumped slightly when Alex came and wrapped his arms around both of us. We all stood there, crying and trying our hardest to calm down.
It took us quite a long time before we finally started to calm down, Alex was the first to pull away and then slowly but surely Jake and I parted, I gently wiped his cheeks of any remaining tears.
"How about we go and get some take-out and ice cream?" Alex offered.
"How about we order in, and you go get us some ice cream?" I offered instead.
"Can I invite Angel?" Jake asked quietly. I could only nod.
"Of course, invite away!" Alex said and I smiled. God I love my little family.
"Sweet! Just call me when supper's here, I don't care what we order, you know what I like so just order me whatever," Jake hugged me one last time and then left the room, making his way up the stairs and into his bedroom. I could only imagine that he was calling his girlfriend to invite her to our family dinner.
While I was busy, imagining what that young boy was doing and picturing the smile that graced his handsome face whenever he thought about his girlfriend, Alex came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist, planting a small kiss on my shoulder. The warmth from his lips spread through my skin and through my shoulder, spreading throughout my entire body.
"I love you," I heard the words leave his beautiful lips and couldn't help the smile that spread over my face.
"I know, I love you too."
"Oh good."
"What do you feel like having for dinner?" I asked quietly while resting my hands on his forearms which rested across my stomach. I ran my hands back and forth over the skin, feeling the way that his skin reacted, the goosebumps raising to meet my fingers. Alex hummed in response and I could feel him shrug his shoulders.
"Whatever you want is fine babe," his lips were gentle against the skin of my neck.
"Stop that, it's too difficult to focus," the laugh bubbled from me and then I reached over to the drawer which held all of our takeout menus.
"Mmph, fine," I could hear the reluctance in his voice and I had to laugh. Everything about this man made me feel better. He was kind and funny, sarcastic and just so damn good looking. When did they start making men so hot? I started rifling through the menus while Alex backed away from me.
"How about we order Chinese?" I asked, probably already knowing he answer.
"Sounds good, you know what to order. Wanna watch a movie?"
"Yeah, sounds good," I picked up the phone and quickly ordered our meal while watching that handsome man walk out of the kitchen – the way that his jeans rode up a little bit onto his ass with every step he took, how he stretched his arms out, the way the muscles in his back moved. Twice I had to stop staring and get myself back to reality and ordering supper. After hanging up the phone, I followed Alex into the living room where he was completely sprawled over the huge sectional couch. "How in the hell did you manage that?" I laughed at the expression he gave me, filled with curiosity but upon seeing how he was laying he smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
"Oops," the humor was evident in his voice as he moved to just lounge across part of the couch. I made my way over and plopped down just beside him.
"Food should be here in about forty-five minutes," I kissed over his temple as I heard young footsteps stomping down the stairs.
"Dad?!" Jake called out quite loudly.
"What, love?" I sat up a bit and looked towards him.
"Angel is on her way," he sat down more carefully than I had, right beside me.
"Awesome," I nudged him gently and then leaned into Alex again, finding comfort and solace in the man that I had promised to spend my life with for all of eternity.
But, when I looked at Jake, he looked sad and not quite himself. Carefully I reached over and grabbed his arm, pulling him into the mass of our bodies. I held him tight to my body while Alex held both of us. He was acting like our rock.
"What's wrong, handsome?" I asked Jake as I ran my hand through his hair slowly, careful not to mess up the coif that he had obviously spent time getting into the perfect position.
"Just scared," he cuddled into me while I kept my arms tight around him.
"I know, me too," I kissed his temple and hugged him tighter. "We'll get through this together." It made me feel good to know that he felt comfortable enough with me to lay here on the couch with me and tell me exactly how he's feeling and what he's thinking. This must be what a family feels like.
"Don't leave me," I saw the tears forming in Jake's eyes and I quickly wiped them as they fell and hugged him tighter.
"Never," I whispered quietly. The doorbell rang while we were cuddled up on the couch and Alex extricated himself from the couch, making his way to the front door where he answered the door.
"Jake! Angel is here!" Alex called backwards into the living room. Jake quickly sat up after giving me one final squeeze and then fixed his hair, which still sat perfectly, and then wiped his eyes. He looked at me, a question prone in his eyes.
"You look fine, go let her in," I pushed him gently and smiled as he made his way to the front door.
