Gay

I don't know the Backstreet Boys, or N'Sync, nor is this story meant to imply anything about their sexuality, their private lives or their life choices. Please don't take any of this seriously, it is just a story, nothing more. Nothing in this story is real, it is the product of the author's imagination. That's enough disclaimers I think...

Now some suggestions, seeing as everyone else seems to be doing it. My favourite stories are: Forever (Kevin) My New Life (Lance) JC's Hitchhiker (JC) Get Another Boyfriend (Kevin) Whiplash (Kevin) Blind Date (Lance) Josh and Just (Duh!) Jamie's Romance (Justin) Brian and Me (Brian) Kevin and Dustin (Kevin) Tales of a Real Dark Knight (Lance) Under Management (Lance) Brian and Chance (Brian) Thieves (Lance) Lance and Martin (Lance) That's it, I know there are more I read that I haven't mentioned, but I can't remember them right now, sorry! Here is part four of Season Two - I hope everyone enjoys it, and I hope that I get lots of emails - come on people! My email is at the top of the page! Give me a shout out if you like it or hate it...now here is part four!

On The Streets - Season Two - Part Four

"I hate wearing a tuxedo!" Kevin shouted as he tried to put in a pair of cufflinks.

"Oh for God's sake! Stop complaining - if I hear you say anything about how much you hate dinner jackets again, I'm gonna come over there and shove that bow tie up your ass!" I shouted back. He was whining, he had been all morning. He finally slipped the cufflink through the holes, and flipped it over. His bow tie was crooked, and I told him so.

"Do you know how many times I've tied and re-tied this damn thing?" He said with a look of exasperation on his face. "Twelve! Twelve damn times, I'm not going to tie it again.

"Well, at least put it straight!" He straightened it in the mirror, and then walked over to me.

"You look really good." He said with a grin.

"These trousers are too tight." I said with a tug at the crotch.

"What? But they're tailored to you, did you grow a bigger cock since we had them done?" I couldn't help but chuckle - he'd put on a really suspicious face, and was now eyeing me sceptically. "They'll be fine, you'll get used to them. We'd better just not dance too close at the wedding, otherwise they'll get even tighter."

"Here, let me fix your bow tie." I said motioning him over, he couldn't get it to stay straight. "Turn around, I can't do it right this way around. So I reached over his shoulders and straightened it, tightening it slightly as I did it. Suddenly I heard Kevin take in a gasp of breath, and I realised I'd leant my arms on his shoulders, where the bruises were. "Shit, sorry Kev, I'm sorry, are you ok?" He nodded slowly, releasing a sigh of air. "I'm sorry."

"Jared, stop it. I'm ok, it's just really easy when I'm around someone as wonderful as you to forget about the pain from a couple of little bruises." I was really chuffed - I looked at him with a grin.

"How long did it take you to come up with that?"

"Just as long as you took to tie my bow tie - I had a nasty feeling you were going to touch me and it would hurt." He said with a cheeky grin. We hugged quickly as we heard Nick calling up the stairs for us.

We both laughed and walked out the room. Nick was waiting at the bottom of the stairs for us. He'd said that he would run us to the wedding, and pick us up as it was only at a little church just outside Orlando.

"Looking good guys." Nick said with a grin. He could see Kevin having trouble with his collar.

"Shut up." Kevin grumbled as we filed out the door. Nick drove us to the church, and we arrived and were seated. About twenty minutes later, the music started. I'd pointed out Rick at the front to Kevin, and he said he could definitely see what I meant about how hot he looked. Janet started the walk up the aisle. She looked great, she was wearing a traditional wedding dress, long train with little girls in peach coloured dresses behind holding it up. She'd been talking for months about how she wanted the fairy tale wedding, and she was having it. The men, the groom, best man and ushers were wearing thigh length black jackets, grey waistcoats, grey trousers, and white shirts. Her white dress hugged her figure perfectly. The wedding was short, only about half an hour, but it was really nice, almost peaceful. The reception was straight after at an old building. Inside, it looked like a converted barn, it had big wooden timbers crossing over, but it was all clean, and the tables were set with silver service. Kevin and I were sat next to each other. The guests around us seemed interested in the celebrity at their table, but it soon died off, after all, most of the guests were over twenty-five or thirty. The after dinner party was more interesting. Janet had invited a lot of people from work, and Kevin knew a lot of them, so he talked to them. I knew quite a few from my training sessions, so I had someone to talk to too.

"How are things going?" I looked up, and the guests on the other side of the round table we'd sat at were grinning. I turned around, and there was Janet. She looked so amazing, her face was glowing. Rick came up behind her and put his arm around her waist.

"Everyone ok over here?" Rick asked.

"We're great, thanks."

"This is Jared's boyfriend honey." Janet said motioning to Kevin. Rick reached out and shook Kevin's offered hand. We both smiled at Rick.

"Oh...you're gay." He said looking at me. My face must have dropped just then.

"Yes, we are." Kevin answered. Rick looked surprised for a second, then a look of apprehension came over his face.

"Oh, um, well, I'm gonna go get a drink." He left his wife's side, and walked over to the bar where some other men were standing. Janet looked at him for a second, then turned back to us. We didn't say anything.

"He's not perfect." She looked at him longingly. "I'm sorry."

"Hey, don't let it ruin your day. Both Jared and I have been through worse. It was a lovely wedding, thank you for inviting us." she managed a small smile.

"That's ok." Was all she could manage.

"Hey, Janet, don't let this ruin your day, ok? It's one little thing, he probably didn't even realise he did it. And it could've been a lot worse. It's just one of those things." Kevin started reassuring her.

"Thank you Kevin." He grinned at her, and she smiled back again.

"We've got dancing a bit later, I hope you guys will enjoy that." Janet stated.

"I hope you're not suggesting that as gay men we will like dancing any more than anyone else." Kevin said with a straight face.

"No, I mean no, that's not what I meant, I mean, I..." She noticed the look on Kevin's face had changed to one of amusement. "Bastard." She muttered under her breath, then she smiled again, and seemed to glide away on the cloud of her white dress. I looked over at Rick, who was standing laughing with some guys who were obviously army men. I couldn't help but wonder what they were laughing about.

"I guess opposites do attract. She's...so nice, and he's... well, a homophobe. It's a pity. He seems like a nice enough guy."

"He was, when he picked her up the other day, he was really nice. I guess he didn't know that I was gay." Kevin nodded.

After the wedding, Kev and I went home. It was already 11:30, and so we went to bed, I was way too tired to stay up and watch TV or anything, and we'd eaten so much at the wedding reception that neither of us wanted anything for dinner. We were lying in bed, when I looked over at him, and caught sight of the scar on his jawline. "That scar... how did you get that playing football? Don't they wear helmets to play football in?" I asked him.

"Have you been watching those videos again?" Kevin said with a grin. I just shook my head, not understanding. "You know, those videos with all the interviews on them - that's the only way you could've heard that I got the scar from football."

"Oh, um, no, I think I read that on the internet somewhere." I said, then realising what I'd just admitted to, I blushed.

"Hey, it's ok." Kevin wrapped his arm around me, and we ended up wrapped up together in a hug. "The truth is, no, I didn't get this playing football." He ran a finger along the scar. "That's what we tell the public to avoid further questions." He looked at me for a second. "When I was 14, I was... well, a troublemaker." He smirked at me. "I wouldn't do anything really bad, but I just got into a lot of trouble, oh like this one time, about three of my friends and I all went to this house which no one had lived in for about 10 years - it was falling apart, and we, broke a few of the windows." Kevin said, looking down suddenly.

"When you say a few, you mean?"

"All." Kevin said with a bit of a grin. I just shook my head at him. "It was derelict! The place was falling down! How were we supposed to know the real estate people were showing some potential buyers around the next day?" Kevin asked in an exasperated tone. He had a grin on his face, and I couldn't help but smile back.

"That still doesn't explain how you got your scar though." I asked him.

"Ah, now it was the worst trouble I ever got into." Kevin started. He swallowed. I was 14, and an older friend of mine had just got a new motorbike. And at the time, well, I loved motors and anything to do with mechanics actually, so I helped him like oil it up and clean it up and stuff. I probably knew more about motors and stuff than he did, so I think he was grateful for the help. Anyway, after we were done, he asked if I wanted a go first." Kevin paused, and looked away for a second. "I shouldn't have done it."

"Wait a minute, you were 14 - what age do you get your licence in this country?"

"16."

"Oh." I signalled Kevin to go on.

"Anyway, well, I got on, and drove away, and I must have been feeling really stupid that day. I drove down this road which was normally pretty busy, it had a load of shops down it and that sort of thing. And, this police car saw me. Back then, the area where I lived, well, it wasn't so big, there were less people, and the police knew everyone, especially your neighbourhood troublemakers. Don't get me wrong - I'd never been in trouble with the police, but they knew me." Kevin said with a bit of a grin. "As I drove past this patrol car, they somehow recognised me, and they pulled out, and started chasing me. I guess I started to get away, cos they turned on their sirens, and that's when I noticed them. Don't ask me why I did it, but I tried to get away." Kevin actually looked ashamed. "But as I was rounding a corner from the main road, I hit the kerb, and flew off the bike. I went about 10 feet, and landed on my back, I was laid up for weeks, but of course I also hit my chin - my helmet flew off as I didn't have it strapped on properly, and that's how I got my scar. I was so lucky that day, not to have been killed. I was really stupid." Kevin looked upset, his actions almost twenty years ago upset him now! I just held onto him, I didn't know what else to do. "Pretty stupid huh?" He asked me.

"I don't know, if that's the worst thing you've done in your life, then I think I'll manage." I said with a grin. Kevin and I went back to just holding one another. But he seemed to be thinking about something. "What is it Kevin?"

"Huh?"

"Well, you're thinking too deeply, what are you thinking about?"

"Oh, um, never mind."

"Come on!" I pleaded slightly.

"No Jared, it'll just get you upset."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, it's just, I was going to ask you if you had any stories from when you were younger - I don't even know what it was like for you - growing up I mean. You've seen where I lived when I was younger, but I'm just saying, I don't know that much about you before, well, before." He paused. "I'm sorry."

"For what?"

"I shouldn't be asking you things like that - they're bound to upset you, you don't like talking about your family."

"I don't dislike talking about my family - I don't like talking about the painful episodes, like when they threw me out." I cleared my throat. "But, I don't mind talking about other stuff. But what do you want to know?"

"You know, stuff when you were younger, where you grew up, what was it like? What did you do? Where did you hang out, that sort of thing." Kevin looked straight into my eyes, and I could see he really wanted to know. I nodded.

"How can we do this? Ok." I sat up, cross-legged on the bed, and motioned Kevin to do the same. Neither of us were particularly sleepy by now. "Right, you ask whatever questions you want to ask, and I will answer as well as I can." Kevin looked surprised for a second.

"Ok, how about from the beginning. Where were you born?"

"I was born at home, in Euston, London. It was unusual cos at the time it had become common for about the last five or ten years for all women to go to the hospital to deliver their child, but my mother wanted to do it at home with a mid-wife." Kevin nodded.

"And you were the youngest of the triplets?" Kevin asked with a grin.

"Yep. Paul, my elder brother had come along six years earlier which makes him, 33, I guess now, and then Adam was born twenty minutes before me, and Seth was born six minutes before me." Kevin nodded.

"What did your parents do? I mean for a living?"

"My father worked in construction, he was a... site foreman, I guess, and my mother well until I was about 15, or 16, she stayed at home, and then she went out and got a job as some sort of receptionist or secretary or something." Kevin looked stumped now. "What's the matter?" I asked.

"Well, I don't know how to phrase the next question... how did you grow up? No, I don't mean that, I mean... what was it like growing up? What sort of childhood did you have?"

"Well, let's see, we weren't a rich family. In fact, by American standards, we were probably living in something like poverty. Four children on a construction worker's wages can't be easy. I, er, I guess we spent a lot of time just hanging around doing nothing. We didn't have the money to go places or see things. My brothers and I got in trouble too, probably more than you ever did, and at a younger age. When you were smashing windows of derelict houses, we were smashing windows on shops and playing pranks all the time."

"Pranks? What kinda pranks?"

"Stupid things, like knocking on people's doors and running off, or if we found a bike that wasn't locked up, we'd ride it down the street, and leave it outside somewhere else. Or, just stupid things." I shook my head, thinking of the trouble we could've got into.

"So, when did you stop all that?" Kevin asked.

"Err...I guess when we got the scholarships. I don't think anyone was expecting it, least of all us, but we got them and we ended up in a posh private school, it was amazing, we got to see how the, what's the word? How the... wealthier part of society lived. But we still got into trouble a lot at school, we broke windows with our football, or we bunked lessons, or talked back to teachers. We got a lot of detentions that sort of thing, but we also excelled in our schoolwork, and in sports and stuff. It paid off, and we got into university." I paused. "I think I've already told you most of the stuff after that. Is there anything else you wanted to know?" Kevin looked at me.

"You don't have to answer this if you don't want to, but, what were your parents like?" I paused, I was hoping he wouldn't ask this.

"Ok, um, my dad, well let's see, he was, a harsh man. If he'd known half the stuff my brothers and I got up to, we would probably be dead, from the beatings. He hit us, a lot. He had very...conservative views. He wouldn't accept any deviation from the norm. That was just the way he was. I wasn't close to him, Paul was close to him, Adam, Seth and I steered clear as much as we could." Kevin nodded his head.

"And your mother?" He asked gingerly.

"Sad."

"What?"

"She was sad a lot. She came from a more liberal, accepting family, but I think she was forced to comply with whatever my father said, so that he wouldn't hit her too. I only saw him hit her once, but I think he did it more than that." I looked into Kevin's eyes, and I could see that made him sad. "I think I made her most sad though, she was so sad and upset when I came out, she was in tears, even when my brother and father were shouting at me, she just cried." Kevin had a tear running down his cheek, so I reached over and stroked it away. I leant over and kissed him. "Come on, I think that's enough for tonight. Let's get to sleep." Kevin nodded slowly, and we both laid down to sleep.

Nick's Point of View<<<

Leo smiled at me from the door of the bedroom. "She's asleep." He said with a certain degree of satisfaction.

"Come to bed. It's late." I said as I put down the book I'd been reading. Leo moved quickly across the bedroom, and drew the curtains. We'd stopped drawing them because it was getting too hot at nights. I wondered what was wrong. "What are you doing?" I asked.

"Well, I thought, seeing as, we haven't really had much of a chance to get closer recently, we might, you know." He said as if I was an idiot.

"Oh. So, what did you want to do?"

"Well, we have to be pretty quiet, otherwise we'll wake her up again. But I was thinking maybe we could just start from here." He got closer, and leant over and kissed me. "And see where it goes." He smiled at me, he gently took my glasses off, and then kissed my neck, before jumping into bed, over me. I rolled over so that I was on top of him, and wrapped my arms around him. We started kissing, our tongues in one another's mouths. My hands ran up and down his back. Finally, I felt his legs wrap around my waist, and when I looked down again, I saw a look of pure lust in his eyes. "Fuck me Nick." He whispered in my ear. We hadn't done anything like that yet, we'd given each other blowjobs, and handjobs but that was it. He wanted me to fuck him. The idea did fuel most of my dreams recently, but I wasn't expecting him to want to do it quite so soon. Should I do it? Is he definitely ready? One look at his eyes told me that he was. But could we?

We did.

Kevin's Point of View<<<

The following day was Sunday, and as had been happening the last few Sundays whenever we were together, Jared and I went to church together. Well, actually I went to church with Jared. I stopped attending church regularly a few years ago, but Jared had picked up his religion again recently, so I figured I should support him in it. There was a medium sized Catholic church not that far away from home, so we went there. We'd been here a total of about six times now, as all the other Sundays I'd been on tour, and Jared had come alone. One thing I noticed as we walked in was how quiet it was. There were people in there, but it was almost silent. The service hadn't started yet, but no one was talking. This was so different from my old church in Kentucky - there it was more like a social club, everyone talked and really enjoyed the service, and afterwards we'd spend the rest of the day at each others' houses. I didn't understand this. Jared told me they took Sundays more seriously, and treated it as an actual Sabbath, and only did community activities on Saturday or through the rest of the week. I followed Jared into the Church, and watched him kneel slightly as he entered the pew, and cross himself. I couldn't help but notice the number of people who gave us funny looks.

"Jared, that weird woman's looking at us again." I said to Jared as we sat down, he'd already gone into position as if he was praying, I didn't mean to interrupt. You never actually realise just how uncomfortable seats are in a church until you've sat on them with big bruises across your back. Jared always sat with his back perpendicular to the seat, so his back rarely touched the back of the pew, so it didn't bother him, but I slouched, that is, until my bruises started aching.

"Huh?" He looked at me, then he realised what I said. "Just ignore her Kev. There are always going to be people who don't accept us. But this is a Catholic church, they won't say anything - the only person who can directly criticise us in here is the priest. And I don't think he will." Jared faced forward again. Finally the service started. I'd worked out now when to stand and sit, and I could even recite the Apostle's Creed from hearing Jared say it, though I didn't like to say out loud the bit about believing in the Holy Catholic church.

"Turn to your neighbour now and shake their hands in a spirit of friendship." The priest stated. This was the part I always hated most. Jared and I turned to each other, and shook hands. And that was it. No one would sit next to us. I could see Jared looking down at the pew in front of us. "Please be seated for the reading from the Gospel. Matthew 18:15, please, Mrs. Patten." We sat down and listened to the woman read about how if your brother trespasses against you, you should speak to him first, then go to the church, then to the judges. She finished, the priest concluded his rather lengthy sermon, then summarily dismissed us.

"Jared, shall we go?" Jared nodded, and we started out of our pew.

"Mr. Healey?" Jared turned and looked at the man in his forties who had come up to him. "Mr. Healey, my name is Andrew Nelson. I was due to read next Sunday, but I'm absent, and I was supposed to find a second. Would you be willing to read next Sunday? It's just a short passage from Acts, the priest can tell you which ones." The man looked at Jared hopefully.

"Err, sure." Then he looked back at me, and then turned back to Mr. Nelson. "Did you speak to the priest about who you should pick?"

"No. He just said pick a second. I don't think it really matters."

"Ok, I'll go and speak to him." Jared said. "Back in a moment Kev." I nodded, and he left me alone with Andrew.

"So you and Jared are together?" Andrew asked, biting his bottom lip. I nodded, daring him to say something about it. "There are a lot of people who are... opposed to Jared's arrival at this church."

"Don't you think we know that?" I asked him, something told me this guy wasn't going to be on our side completely.

"Hey!" He said holding up his hands defensively. "I was the one who just asked Jared to join in. Look, I'm on your side. I'm just saying, there are a few people, be careful." I nodded, ok, maybe I was wrong.

"Sorry." I said to him.

"It's ok, I can imagine it must be difficult for you people to break into a community like this one, one that doesn't really accept your lifestyle." Andrew said. I nodded.

"I think Jared's worried that one week the priest's gonna tell him that maybe he shouldn't come along anymore." Andrew nodded.

"I wouldn't put it past this guy. We've only had this priest for about six months, since the last priest died."

"Oh, I'm sorry." At that moment, I heard the door to the priest's chambers open and close quietly. Jared walked down the side of the church, and walked up to us.

"I'm sorry you're gonna have to find someone else." Jared said quietly to Andrew.

"He said no?" Andrew asked. Jared nodded.

"What? How dare he? I'm gonna go speak to him Jared."

"No Kevin!" Jared took a deep breath. "Look, let's just go." He nodded goodbye to Andrew, and I shook his hand, and then we walked out.

"Why wouldn't you let me go speak to him. We can win that Jared, look some people obviously support us."

"Kevin, some people may support us, but, a lot of people have spoken to the priest about having us removed from the congregation. I don't think we can go back there." Jared looked more and more upset. When we were almost home, he wiped his eyes once, and sat back in his seat. We were driving with the windows down as it was kinda hot, and Jared had his arm sticking out the window.

"Jared, what do you want to do?" I asked as we pulled into the driveway.

"What do you mean?" He asked. He seemed surprisingly upbeat all of a sudden.

"Well, about the church. Do you want to find another one?" Jared shook his head.

"Nah, it's ok. I'll be fine." Jared said, then smiled as he got out the car, and headed towards the house. He let himself in and left the door open for me. As I walked in the door a moment after him, I saw him taking the rosary beads he always wore around his neck, and he put them into the drawer under the table in the hall.

"What are you doing? Jared, you can't just give up because of one pig-headed priest. He was an idiot, look, you can't give up everything because of that. There's another Catholic church not far away, they might be better."

"No." Jared said, then walked up the stairs, taking off his clothes on the way.

"Jared, please talk to me. I thought, I thought you wanted to go to a church."

"I did Kevin." We were on the upstairs hallway by now, walking into our bedroom.

"So what's the problem?" He sat on the bed, his head in his hands. He paused. "Jared?"

"Kevin, do you know what the Doctrine of Infallibility is?" Jared asked. I shook my head quickly. "It means that as far as the Catholics of this world are concerned, if the Pope makes a statement on matters of doctrine, then it is considered infallible. Several popes have made statements about homosexuals - they have all been negative. Only the Vatican council said even remotely nice things about homosexuals, suggesting that they be respected, but not that their lifestyle is supported. Kevin, the Catholic church is directly against homosexuals. The priest showed me the encyclicals. I can't turn up there every week, say that I believe in the Holy Catholic Church, and then spit in their face and say that I'm gay. I know that homosexuality isn't in conflict with the bible, but it is in conflict with the Catholic church." Jared took a deep breath, then fell backwards onto the bed.

"I'm sorry?" I said, not quite sure how to answer. I didn't understand, never mind being able to help.

"You got nothing to be sorry for Kev. It's just I'm a Christian, I know I am, so why can't other people just allow me to worship the way I want?"

"I don't know Jared, that's just the way people are." I lied down next to him, both of our legs hanging half off the bed. "Would you be willing then to go to another church?"

"What? Like one of the protestant ones?" I nodded my head. "Can you give me a bit to think about that? I'm not sure." I nodded. Jared stood up, and walked along to the bathroom to shower. It had been too hot sitting in that church on a hot day like today. I got up to join him. "Can, you just wait till I'm done Kev?" He said as he walked into the bathroom and shut the door. I went back to our bedroom, and sat on the bed. Had I said something to upset him? I just laid on the bed dozing a bit. About twenty minutes later, Jared came out with a towel around his waist. I sat up and was about to walk past Jared out the bedroom. I was still confused as to what I had done. Jared wrapped his arm around my waist as I walked past though, and pulled me into a kiss. "I'm sorry." He said as he pulled apart. "For not wanting you with me in the bathroom. I just needed a bit to think." He looked me in the eyes. "God, you're beautiful." I smiled at him, then he blushed and went to get dressed again in more casual clothes.

"So, did you think? What about?"

"About the church thing."

"And what did you think?" I asked him.

"I'll give it a try." I smiled at him. "But you'll have to find one Kev. I wouldn't even know what to look for." I nodded at him.

"I'll speak to Brian, he probably knows more about it than I do." Jared nodded, and I went to get changed. "Jared, have you seen my blue jeans?" I asked as I couldn't see them around the room.

"Yeah, I washed them, they're in the washing basket." I nodded, and fished them out, then went for a shower.

Jared and I spent the rest of the day lounging around. We were starting to make notes on who we wanted to have at the wedding, it was two weeks away now, heck, 13 days, and there were still some people who we hadn't invited. I know, having a wedding a matter of weeks after you decide to get married is ridiculously fast, but I wanted to do it before we went on tour again, I want to make this commitment. The last time was such a circus and everything, and I just want to prove to myself as much as to Jared that I can make this commitment for real this time. Just as I thought this, I was passing the table in the hall where we were jotting down names as we thought of them. "Kristin!" I suddenly remembered. I hadn't spoken to her, even on the phone in over a month, and I'd almost forgotten her with all the getting ready and stuff.
