Our Song (Chapter 1)

It was 5:30 in the morning and the continuous beeping of a hotel alarm clock began. Exactly 15 seconds later, a phone call also rang loudly in the room. Being frustrated by this rather annoying noise, Justin rolled uncomfortably in his bed. He reached over to the dresser pushing the alarm clock button and then lifted the phone receiver to stop the wake up call. Justin pondered whether he should wake now or take another nap for a few minutes. Before he could make up his mind he was back asleep wrapped up in about a hundred white sheets and blankets.

About 5 minutes later the phone began to ring again. Immediately Justin shot up in bed as though he had awoken from a bad dream. After realizing that it was just the phone he reached over to the receiving and cursed under his breath and the person who woke him up, again.

"He...Hello?" asked Justin in a scratchy voice.

"Hey Curly, you up yet?" asked a very familiar voice.

"Um...I think I was, or am, or I don't really know," replied Justin.

"Yeah well...you know that we have to be out of this hotel in two hours and if we are late again because your sleepy ass went back to bed you will be very sorry."

Justin chuckled lightly at this comment. He thought back briefly just how many times everybody had been late because of him. He counted, but after the numbers went in to the double digits he gave up.

"Ok, I'll be ready, I promise," Justin said in a confident tone.

"Um...Curly? Do you even know who this is?" asked the voice on the other end."

"Yeah, this is Lance." Justin replied as he hung up the phone. He laughed quietly to himself at his last comment. He knew it wasn't Lance on the other end, but it always made JC upset when Justin made comments such as those. Slowly he sat up in bed and wiped the sleep from his eyes and yawned loudly.

Justin rolled out of bed and stretched his arms upward. He then proceeded to the suitcase rack, unzipped his luggage, and began searching for something clean to wear. He finally pulled out a pair of khaki shorts that weren't too wrinkled and didn't smell to bad, and a light green shirt from Abercrombie and Fitch. Justin walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower to hot. He then pulled down his boxer and lifted off his wife beater, revealing a toned, muscular body. Justin stepped into the hot water and began to shower.

Soon Justin was done showering and slowly stepped out of the shower. He grabbed a clean towel and began to dry his body. He ran the towel up and down his muscular legs and arms and then dried his smooth chest. Saving the best for last, Justin dried off his crotch and then threw the damp towel on the ground. He pulled on a pair of Calvin Klein briefs and then put on the khaki shorts and green shirt. Having very short hair was a great advantage because it required almost no maintenance and on top off all things, made Justin look even more attractive.

The young man went back into his hotel room and started packing up some of his things. Nsync was currently in the middle of an international tour, and the band had just finished performing in Chicago. Although Justin loved performing in front of crowds, he hated to travel. Every time the band went out on tour it meant waking up early, going to rehearsals almost daily, and being away from his normal life. Recently Justin had been feeling a bit out of things. His band mates were all going off and doing their own thing, getting into relationships, and being happy, yet Justin felt as though he was stuck. For several months now, Justin had been struggling to accept something about himself, and although it was hard to admit, he knew he was gay.

Justin soon readied his things and grabbed all his bags. He made sure everything was in place and walked out the door towards the elevator. As he stood there waiting for it to come up to his floor, Chris came around the corner. His hair was a mess and it looked he had been up all night.

"Rough night?" Justin asked jokingly.

"Go to hell," Chris responded with a chuckle.

Eventually they both got down to the ground floor and headed out towards the bus. Justin left his bags next to the vehicle for the driver to load everything. He walked up the stairs and proceeded to the small living area at the rear end of the bus. Chris and Justin were the last two members to come aboard. JC was watching television while eating a bowl of Frosted Flakes, Lance was laughing quietly as he read the comics in the newspaper, and Joey had his head on the table with a single strand of drool dripping from his mouth. Soon, the bus was packed and they began towards their next destination.

For the first few hours the journey was quiet. Joey, Chris, and Lance went to their bunks to get a few more hours of sleep, leaving Justin and JC in the rear of the bus. For several minutes they sat in silence, looking at the television and exchanging odd glances at each other. Justin felt a bit uncomfortable and was squirming in his seat. Josh, knowing Justin as well as he does, recognized this disturbance and threw him an puzzled look.

"Something wrong, Curly?" asked Josh.

"Um...no, not really, why?" Justin responded very nervously.

"No reason. I just know when there is something bothering you, and it seems like you have been a little upset or bothered by something lately. I'm just worried about my boy." JC explained as he punched Justin lightly on the shoulder.

Justin laughed lightly at his friend's comment and then looked at him in the eyes. "Its nothing too serious, I mean...well, I don't know. Its nothing you should be worried about," Justin explained.

"Well you know that I am always here for you to talk to if you need to, and no matter what I will support you, right?" asked JC.

Justin nodded and looked up at his friend, who happened to be smiling. Justin felt awkward talking to Josh about this friend, even though they had been best friends for several years. Soon, tears began to build up in the corners of his eyes and slowly streamed down his face. Justin covered his weakness up with his hands and cried quietly into his palms.

"Aw, Curly, I'm sorry I made you cry. I didn't mean to upset you or anything," said JC as he put his arm around Justin and pulled him into a hug.

"Its not you...its...I...I'm just scared Josh, and I don't know what to do," Justin said in a continued sob.

"Hey, you don't have to worry about anything, ok? Whenever you want to tell me, you know I will stop whatever it is and listen to you. That's what friends are for," JC said supportively.

"Well...I...I guess I should just get this over with now. I mean...you obviously know its been bothering my for a few months now and well...I...I...I'm gay." said Justin quietly.

Josh loosened his grip on his friend and sat in disbelief. He didn't know how to react to the situation, and simply sat in silence looking at his crying friend.

**Ok that's it for this time. I know that there wasn't too much happening or anything, but this is my first time and I am trying my best to come up with any ideas. Please write to me at the e-mail I gave earlier with any ideas or comments and stuff, because it would make me really happy to know that somebody actually read this. I'll try and get another one out as soon as possible so that you can have something to read. Thanks.
