The next morning I was up and to the gym. Again vigorously trying to gain some muscle. I worked out for two hours then headed home for a long hot shower. Going to the gym always made me feel good, had to be the natural high working out has given me.

I stayed up late last night pondering many things. I sincerely wondered what was in store for our future. I wondered if their was going to be a future with us. I really hoped their would be. I've always wanted children but am not sure as to whether or not that was ever going to happen, what I did know is regardless of anything else, I wanted Max around for a long, long time.

After getting out of the shower I heard my voice mail reminder beeping. I looked at my missed calls, but did not retrieve the message. Instead I called the person back who left the message.

"Hey," Max answered not sounding as happy as he normally did.

"What's wrong?" I asked him immediately picking up on his distress.

"Did you get my message?" He asked.

"No, I just called you right off," I answered.

Instead of their being words their was a heavy sigh, followed by silence. This I knew was not a good thing because I have never known Max to have such an attitude about anything.

"Theirs a problem, a big problem," he began to explain.

"What's that?" I asked.

"On the beach yesterday, when we kissed, someone recognized me as the kid from the pacifier, and got a picture of me in an embrace with some guy," He explained.

"No way," I said with disbelief.

"Oh yes, this morning I was on my way to the store and I was stopped by a star magazine reporter who asked if I would like to comment on it before he published it," Max continued, "but don't worry, they did not get you, just the back of you.

"But still, what are you going to do?" I asked him honestly worried.

"Ricky, I don't know," he said with a quiver, "I just don't fucking know."

"Is their anything I can do?" I asked. "Just say the words and I'll be their in a heartbeat."

"If you want to do something, do yourself the favor and just stay away from me," Max said these words as if he had shot me in the heart.

"What?" I asked in utter disbelief.

"You're better off without me," he added.

"So that's it, just like that, we're through?" I asked him trying to make sense of everything.

Their was just silence where I completely expected an answer.

"Well are we?" I demanded to know.

"What do you want from me, don't you get it, I am poison now, I really love you, but if you come near me and are seen with me, you will be in the same boat I am," Max explained.

"But that's what I want Ma..." I began to say.

"No Ricky, I'm telling you now, just stay away, you will be much better off," he said.

With that he hung up the phone, and I was completely lost for words.

"No way," I thought aloud with the only words I could find.

I spent the rest of the morning laying on the couch watching t.v. Nothing was on but I was not paying attention any way. I made a sandwich, with my stomach hurting out of hunger, but could not eat it. I stared at the walls for hours wondering what it was I was going to do now.

I walk would do some good!

............................................................................................................................................................

I walked for hours, uptown, downtown, everywhere I could. Walking as therapy, trying to make sense of everything. I stopped at the pool hall where Max and I went out to last week and played by myself for awhile.

It seemed nothing was going to cure this inevitable sadness that was slowly taking hold over my entire persona. At this moment I did not think I would ever recover from this.

Slowly but surely, I made my way to the park where I met Max that beautiful day. I could not help but feel reminiscent about everything. Walking towards the park I could see the trees and an old man feeding birds. I looked to the bench we met at and first saw that it was not empty. I thought I'd walk towards it anyway in hopes that the person sitting their would leave before I got their.

Many things were important to me, but why would he hurt me in an attempt to care for me? This I cannot for the life of me understand.

I seen the person was leaning forward with their head in their hands. Then I wondered how many people in this world feel like I did today, obviously one other person. That person seated at the bench seemed to have their own share of problems.

I deduced to walk past him until it hit me who it was. I smiled and walked to the bench and sat down next to him.

He lifted his head from his hands to look at me for a moment, then rest his head back into his hands.

"How did you know to find me here?" Max asked through a muffled voice.

"I didn't," I answered. "Like you, I just needed a place to rest my head and think."

Their were no words spoken. He just lifted his head, situated himself in his seat and leaned back facing his face to the sky.

"You're so beautiful," I complimented him as I watched the sun shine through the leaves and onto his face.

"So are you Ricky," he replied.

"Max, I will forever respect your wishes, and anything you say, but I can't just walk away like this," I explained to him.

"What else are you going to do," he argued.

"Okay, the only way I am going to get up from this bench, is if you can tell me you don't love me," I said.

He just shook his head.

"Tell me Max, do you love me," I demanded.

He just sat their with his hands rested on the bench besides both his legs.

"If you don't, I will get up, walk away, and never bother you again," I explained.

With these words spoken he bowed his head and looked away from me. Feeling as if I have been put in my place, I got up and started to walk away.

"Ricky, wait," Max called from behind me.

I turned completely around to look at him. His beautiful eyes were framed with redness and tears fell freely down his soft cheeks. I could not bare to see him like this and no longer cared of what anyone else would perceive.

I quickly walked to him and crouched down between his legs placing my hands on top of his, our faces only inches apart.

"Do you love me?" I whispered.

"Yes, yes, yes, Ricky, Yes I fucking love you more then anything right now!" Max exclaimed as the tears rolled freely down his face.

"Shhhhh," I said while wiping the tears from his face.

"Just don't worry about me, you have enough to worry about, and it is my job to be here for you, regardless of what it does to me," I said to him in a voice that was insanely soft.

He just looked at me and sort of smiled.

"There it is," I said with a big smile, "Theirs the Max that I know."

With this his smile got wider and his tears diminished.

"Why are you willing to give up so much for me?" Max asked with the same hushed voice he had been talking in.

I had to think about it for a moment, because I did not know why it was I was willing to risk so much for him. Then with the realization as to why crept over me, I smiled from ear to ear.

"We have not known each other for that long right?" I asked him.

"Right," he agreed.

"Well, in this short time I have known you, I think that losing you would be a greater loss then anything else," I said to him.

He looked into my eyes for a moment, seeming confused.

"Why?" he asked.

"I don't know if I should tell you this," I warned him.

"Please do," he pleaded.

"You're not going to think me weird, or different?" I asked.

"Never," he assured me.

"Okay, here goes nothing. I came to the pacifier premiere with full intentions of gawking at Vin Diesel. Honestly Max, I had no idea as to who you were before that moment I bumped into you. But I am so glad I was not paying attention. Because I think in bumping into you, I succeeded in finding that one person. My mother always told me that for everyone that exists in this world, there is one person that compliments them, makes them whole, and since I met you, you have more then complimented me, and you make me feel whole. As crazy as this sounds Max, I think you are that one person in this world, that one person that is the other half of my soul," I explained everything to him as best as I could.

He looked at me again with those beautiful eyes as a small amount of tears welded in the corners.

"I totally agree Ricky," he agreed.

With this I kissed him on the lips and hugged him.

"Let's never fight like this again," I said rubbing my hand on his back.

Then I Kissed him on the forehead as he lifted his head from my shoulder.

"Agreed," he again agreed with a slight chuckle.

"Now, I am starving, and it's been a long day, how bout we get something to eat," I said wiping the remainders of the tears from his face and eyes.

"OH yes, me to," he added.

............................................................................................................................................................

Dinner went great and lasted quite a few hours after we were done eating. Eventually the host came by and politely informed us that he needed the table for other guests.

We left without incident and walked out of the restaurant to the night that has yet to close it's welcome.

"So what do you want to do now?" I asked him.

"I don't know what do you want to do?" he retorted.

"Rent a movie, go back to my place," I suggested.

"Sounds good to me," he agreed as he has been agreeing with me all night.

............................................................................................................................................................

We found ourselves lying on my couch watching "The Poseidon Adventure". I laid on my back sprawled out the entire length and max laid on top of me on his stomach facing the t.v. Before the movie came close to ending he fell asleep to the rhythmic rise and fall of my chest.

At first I decided to wake him up and put him to bed in my room, but he looked so peaceful. So in the end, I decided it fit to not disturb the sleeping angel. I watched him sleep for as long as possible. Every now and again brushing the hair from his face when it seemed to make his eyes or nose twitch. I watched Max sleep until I myself fell asleep.

I fell asleep that night, knowing that their were not any dreams I could dream that would ever top this reality.
