~ (McKINLEY-GROGAN, CALLY'S ROOM) ~
"Someone new is moving in," Alisha said as she came through my door wearing a skimpy bikini top and shorts. My eyes opened slightly at the sight of my girlfriend at that moment. "You like?"
"I love," I said as I kissed her on the lips.
"You love who?" she asked with a smirk. And yes I know you figure I'd said this before now... but it just never came up. Strange how life works. But what I said next just came out so naturally and freely that I never considered whether it was true or not, I knew it was.
"I love you," I said as she grinned.
"Took you long enough to say that, Calista," she said as I laughed. "I love you too. I guess I always have."
"Weird how I didn't have to babble or any... ummmm... you know... ummm FUCK!" I babbled as Alisha started laughing. My nerves were suddenly kicking in.
"The Amazing Babbling Cally," Alisha giggled. "You OK now, Albert?"
"Shut up," I demanded as she laughed. "Did you say someone was moving in?"
"Yeah about 15 minutes ago," Alisha cracked as I laughed. "It's Allison's friend, Candy."
"Candy Fanning is moving onto my floor?" I asked as I headed for the door.
"Clothes!" Alisha said as I stopped and detoured to put on a shirt and some shorts (having been in a thong and bra).
"Hey!" Candy said as I met her in the hallway a minute later.
"You're moving in?" I asked.
"Across the hall from your girlfriend," Candy said as I took one of the garbage bags in her arms and carried it for her to the door of her new room. "Alisha is your girlfriend?"
"For about five months now," I said as she dumped the bag in her arms onto her bed as I did the same. "Who's your girlfriend?"
"I'm gay, not stupid," she said as I laughed. "Not gonna fall for that."
"Howdy neighbor," Allison said as she came in behind me with another bag of stuff in her arms.
"Oh hey," I said.
"So you guys ready to get wild?" Candy asked me.
"Another rousing game of monopoly?" Allison asked as I laughed.
"You know I prefer Candyland," Candy said, "For obvious reasons."
"Are we talking about the board game or something you guys play that might be a bit more interesting?" I asked with a horny grin.
"I'm concentrating on getting into college a year from now and playing those type of games lead to distraction," Candy said.
"She's a closeted slut," Allison said as I laughed.
"You're the one who fucked half the football team at Lincoln High," Candy fired back at her friend.
"And you fucked the entire cheerleading squad," Allison said.
"MMMM I sure did," Candy said as she licked her lips suggestively. "What a night."
"And I thought you didn't do things like that?" I asked Candy.
"She's also a pathological liar," Allison said and squealed when Candy beaned her in the butt with a pair of socks.
"Don't start that crap and have her believing shit that ain't true," Candy warned her friend.
"Cally's obviously not stupid," Allison said. "She knows we're kidding."
"Obviously," I agreed. "So, seriously, why don't we do a game night? I've actually got an old Trivial Pursuit game in my room."
"It's actually in my room," Alisha said as she joined us and hugged me from behind. "Chloe and I played it a few days ago while you and Molly went on your adventure."
"That sounds fun," Candy said. "Allison and I don't usually do nothing anyway."
"Yeah our lives are terminally boring," Allison said. "But at least we got each other to hang out with for another year."
"Then you're gonna be all alone without a friend in the world," Candy said teasingly to her friend. "Cause you realize once I go to college we can't be friends."
"You're a bad enough snob now so I can just imagine how bad it'll be in college," Allison said as the two exchanged dirty looks as Candy hung up clothes in her closet.
"Do you two always rag on each other this way?" Alisha asked.
"Pretty much," Candy and Allison said in unison. Alisha and I laughed.

"Why don't you and your girlfriend go away and leave me alone?" I asked Laney as her and Randi giggled.
"Because I like picking on you," Laney said as she flicked my hair into my face.
"Funny when she blushes," Randi giggled.
"Go away," I demanded as I pushed the two down the hall towards their next class and breathed a sigh of relief once they disappeared. I leaned back against the wall and taking a deep breath to hopefully relax a bit before my next class.
Before I go any farther maybe I should officially introduce myself. My name is Hana Peterson, daughter of Chin-Li and Hui Ying Peterson. My parents were the product of my tradition bound Grandparents who came here from mainland China in the 1970's and settled in Minnesota. Changing their surname from Shi to the more American sounding Peterson, soon after arriving and realizing what freedom really feels like. My other family consists of a slew of aunts and uncles (mostly back in China and Hong Kong) and my one and only sister, Patty, who is now attending the University of Minnesota on a softball scholarship. While I, about to turn 16, am just a sophomore who is struggling mightily in math. Which is why I am so damn nervous this morning. Test results!
"You can do this, Hana," I told myself as I straightened my shirt, tie and skirt and walked the few feet down the hall to the classroom. I found a surprise once I got there, Miss Donovan was nowhere to be found but a gorgeous redhead was now in charge as various other students filtered in. Who was this? I had been hoping to ask Miss Donovan my grade but now found myself at a loss for words as I quietly took my seat beside my fellow softballer, Chi Marsoon. I leaned over to Chi and asking, "Who's the new teacher?"
"Emily Preston," Chi said back.
"Class, my name is Miss Preston and I'll be filling in for the ailing Miss Donovan for the time being," she said as she circled around the front of the desk and sat down on the edge of it. She's got nice legs that's for sure. "And things will continue as planned."
"Does that include giving out our test results?" Chi asked.
"Thank you for reminding me..."
"Chi," Emily finished. "I have those right here."
"Hey, if you need some help just come over tonight and we can study," Chi said to me an hour later as class ended and I had gotten my test score (barely above failing) and realized that despite my best efforts that I needed a tutor.
"I'm gonna go talk to Miss Preston and see if she can help me," I said with a defeated sound to my voice as I made my way to the front of the class and waited while everyone else filed out. Emily turned and looked at me strangely as if she knew me from somewhere. "Can I talk to you?"
"Hana Peterson? Chin-Li's daughter?" Emily asked. "I thought that was you."
"You know me?"
"I used to babysit you and your sister back when I was like 15 or so," Emily said. "You sure turned out to be a stunner."
"I did?" I asked with a surprised smile. Don't get me wrong, I know I can pass for hot, but to have someone this hot, and mature, say that is a HUGE ego boost. What math problem?
"You sure did," Emily confirmed with a smile that could possibly be mistaken for one of interest. Another ego boost. "So how can I help you?"
"Oh great, remind me," I said as she giggled softly. "I need some help, tutor or something."
"Yeah I think so too," she said as she reviewed my test results. "Math is a tough subject for some people."
"Not for you," I commented.
"You'd be surprised," Emily said. "When I went to Lincoln High I was always behind in math. Barely graduated."
"But here you are teaching math," I pointed out.
"Filling in," she said. "They're gonna hire me on full time as soon as old Mister Reed retires after the new year."
"Well, in the mean time, can you recommend a tutor?" I asked.
"Yes I can," Emily said. "Me. See you here after school."
"I guess I don't have a choice," I said.
"No you don't," Emily said. "Now don't make me come find you and drag you in here."
"Bondage?" I asked as she started laughing.
"With that tan?" she asked. "If you let me."
"Suddenly, I can't wait," I said as we both laughed. I couldn't either.

~ (LEWIS R. GORMAN LIBRARY) ~
"Hey, look what they got in," Dakota said as she sat down by me at the back table. She showed me a copy of our Freshman yearbook.
"Why are you showing me this?" I asked. "We both have a copy of it already."
"I just picked it up and started laughing at how goofy you looked," Dakota laughed as she pointed to my picture and I pushed her in protest and laughed myself when she went crashing to the floor in a heap. "OWWWW!"
"I didn't mean to push you down," I said as I helped her up.
"You've always been mean to me," Dakota said in reply. "Why aren't you ever nice to me?"
"Shut up," I said with a glare as she smiled proudly. "Did you ever find the book you were actually looking for?"
"Which one?" Dakota asked as I groaned.
"The Mechanics of Writing?" I asked.
"Oh yeah, it's checked out," Dakota said with a shrug. "I don't need it for another couple of weeks anyway."
"I think we can finish the project without it," I said as Dakota looked over my shoulder at someone coming towards us. "Look who's here?"
"Who?" I asked as I turned and saw Maxie coming our way. Even now I get a bit nervous when I see her.
"Chill, Chloe, she's not gonna hurt you," Dakota said into my ear. "If she tries I'll hurt her."
"I'm not worried about that," I said as Maxie stopped in front of us. She was clearly nervous herself.
"Can we talk?" Maxie asked.
"No," Dakota said as her and Maxie stuck out their tongues at each other.
"Knock it off," I said with a giggle. "What is it, Max?"
"How do I be romantic?" Maxie blurted out.
"Who do you wanna get romantic with?" Dakota asked as I laughed.
"Sarah!" Maxie said in frustration.
"And you need me to tell you how to be romantic?" I asked.
"You dated me you know I'm clueless," Maxie said as I laughed.
"Max, you are not clueless," I said. "When we dated you did some romantic things."
"Just give me some ideas?" Maxie pleaded.
"You looking to get laid or just make her happy?" I asked.
"Both," Maxie said. "But I can live without getting laid. I just wanna show her I can be romantic."
"Get some scented candles, buy her some flowers and put on some music that she likes," I said, Dakota nodding her agreement.
"Doesn't like flowers, reminds her too much of her scummy ex-boyfriend," Maxie said. "But I do have the CD with her favorite song. And scented candles?"
"Sets the mood," Dakota added. "Wanna get Mindy in the mood? All you gotta do is light one of those scented candles and it's instantaneous. Usually."
"I'll keep that in mind," Maxie said as I started laughing and Dakota gave her a look that spoke volumes. "You know the next time I'm alone with Mindy."
"That's it, I'm not giving you any more advice," Dakota said in response.
"And if you're planning on getting laid and you do your normal quickie, then Sarah is not gonna be happy," I advised Maxie.
"No wonder you hate me," Maxie said.
"What do you mean?"
"You deserved a lot better than me," Maxie said softly.
"We had some good times..."
"Chloe, I was a horrible girlfriend," Maxie said flatly as she stuffed her hands into her pockets. "I hit you, I never tried to really treat you the way deserved."
"And that's why I said what I did about you and Sarah together," I commented. "Take it slow and you'll love it so much more."
"Would be the first time I've ever truly enjoyed it," Maxie said. "And I don't mean you're bad in bed, Chloe. I would give anything to go back and let you show me."
"If it wasn't me, then why didn't you enjoy it?" I asked. "I always thought you and Cally had some good times."
"We did," Maxie said. "It's just that I've never really liked sex."
"Why?"
"I'm just gonna go," Maxie said abruptly. I moved in her path to the exit.
"Something is not right, Max, tell me?"
"No!" came Maxie's auto pilot response.
"Max, we're your family," Dakota said as Maxie looked like she wanted to cry. "If something is up you can tell us..."
"My drunk ass mother let men touch me, OK?" Maxie blurted out. "Is that what you wanted to hear? I don't like sex cause I suck at it. And feeling good like that makes me feel weird."
"We dated for over a year and you never told me?" I asked in shock.
"I'm sorry, Max," Dakota said softly.
"Sarah is the only person who knows," Maxie said. "I'd never told anyone before her."
"I hope that bitch of a mother of yours burns in hell," I said as Maxie grinned.
"We feel the same way about her," Maxie said as I laughed and surprised even myself when I hugged her. She hugged me back and I could feel something was drastically different about the girl I once loved, once hated and feared, but now just wanted to be happy. "You feel so good."
"Stop it," I warned her as she giggled.
"Can't we fool around for just a little while?" Maxie asked with that charming smile that she had gotten me with many times.
"You haven't changed one bit," I said as she started to laugh.
"Yes she has," Dakota said as she hugged Maxie. "She's happy for the first time in her life. Right?"
"I am," Maxie confirmed. "And you and Mindy are?"
"Very happy," Dakota said.
"And me and Molly are too," I added. "Cause I know you worry about us so much."
"You'd be surprised," Maxie said as her cell started ringing and she flipped it open. "Hello? Yeah, I've got therapy and then I'll be by."
"Maxie loves Sarah!" Dakota and I giggled in unison as Maxie smiled proudly.
Maybe it's just me... but I sure do feel better about things.

~ (FAST EDDIE'S EATS) ~
"Why did you pick me up just so we could drive a hundred feet off campus to go to dinner?" I asked as we left campus in Holly's shiny new/old ride and drove the short distance to Fast Eddie's Eats. "Wouldn't it be smarter to just walk?"
"Shut up," Holly said as I laughed. We pulled up almost directly in front of Fast Eddie's.
"Why do you want me to meet him?" I asked as we got out.
"Because Eddie is like a surrogate father to me," Holly said. "Lords knows our father is completely useless."
"No he can sue us to make our lives even more miserable," I said as Holly held open the door and we walked inside to find the diner in full stride. Sarah met us at the front counter.
"Get your apron on... and hey!" Sarah said as she smiled at me. "Eddie's been wanting to meet you but little does he know he already has."
"He has?" I asked as a vaguely familiar man came out of the kitchen and joined us.
"Recognize her, Eddie?" Sarah asked as he looked to me.
"Of course I do, I've known Holly for months now," Eddie said as I laughed.
"Not her," Sarah said and pointed to me, "Her."
"I remember you from the time you came in with that pretty redhead and got hit on by those lowlifes," Eddie said as I flashed back to that very event. "Didn't know you were Holly's sister though."
"I try to keep that as low profile as possible," I said as Sarah laughed and Holly pushed me in protest.
"She's just lying; she loves having me around," Holly said.
"Now I do, you've got a car," I said as she grinned.
"Is that your sister?" the cook asked Holly from the kitchen.
"This is Molly," Holly said to him. "That's Shelby's Dad, Harold Parker."
"Nice to meet you, what can I get you?" he asked.
"Whatever looks good, I'm not picky," I said.
"Who invited you?" Megan asked from behind me as I turned back and had to admit that she did look good in that waitress outfit. Eddie headed back into the kitchen to help Harold with the cooking.
"Not you," I said as we exchanged playfully dirty looks.
"Why don't you guys have a seat at the back booth and when I get a minute I'll come over and say hi?" Megan asked as she changed out her pot of coffee.
"You need my help?" Holly asked as Megan nodded.
"If you can pitch in we're swamped," Sarah said as she waited on a customer who was paying out.
"That's the booth back there," Holly said as she pointed to one with a 'reserved' banner on it. "Let me help them out for a little while and you maybe get started on your homework?"
"Might as well," I said as I went back outside to get my back pack and a few minutes later was lost in the math assignment that was due the very next day. Fortunately, I had just finished when Megan arrived with a plate of steaming hot food. Meat loaf, mashed potatoes and green beans. "This looks great."
"Harold has the magic touch with the meat loaf," Megan said as she joined me.
"MMMM I'll say," I cooed as I started to wolf down the food.
"So Chloe let you out of her eyesight, huh?"
"She's at the library with our friend, Dakota," I said. "And she does not control me."
"No one said she did," Megan said.
"You suggested it," I fired back. "If that's why you're here then you can get back to work."
"Touchy, touchy," Megan said as she kicked me under the table. I responded by doing the one thing I knew that would make her squeal. I quickly reached across under the table and sunk my fingers in the thigh muscle just above her knee. "OHMIGOD YOU WHORE!"
"Touchy, touchy," I said as she glared at me and sank down in the seat as a number of people looked our way after that incident. I simply giggled.
"What the hell are you two doing?" Holly hissed as she came back to join us. "Flirting?"
"She wishes," I said as Megan gave me a dirty look. Holly leaned down onto the table and looked from me to Megan and back before she added, "I think we all remember what happened last time you guys flirted. Let me know if it gets serious."

~ (McKINLEY-GROGAN HALL, MINTZ SUITE) ~
"Coach Rock said he's gonna have to delay the hit-around for a few days," Cindy said as she hung up the phone. Hana came out of the bathroom after her shower in a thong and bra and drew everyone's attention to her incredibly tanned body.
"Why is he delaying it?" Hana asked as she put on a pair of shorts. My eyes glanced over to see Laney, who was laying on the floor reading the latest edition of the Thief River Falls Times.
"He's on his way to Bemidji and Middletown to recruit some players according to this article," Laney said. "Anna Longmeyer and Lindsay Price?"
"Really?" Hana asked as she came over and laid down beside Laney and looked it over herself. "Isn't Lindsay the star pitcher for Middletown? The team we played in the Championship last year?"
"She is," Cindy confirmed. "Sure hope he gets her."
"It would take a lot of pressure off Anisha," Hana said. "She's worried."
"Chi said Anisha is really liking the new throwing program Coach put her on," Laney said. "Randi said she was bringing it when she really cut loose."
"Her arm is getting stronger every day," Cindy said.
"Speaking of Chi, did she say you were having trouble in Math?" I asked Hana.
"Barely passed my last test," Hana confirmed. "But Emily tutored me for a while today after school and I think I got a better handle on it."
"Who's Emily?"
"Miss Preston, she's filling in for Miss Donovan in math," Hana said.
"And you call her Emily?" Cindy asked as she got a soda out of the mini-fridge.
"Me too," I said as Cindy got me one out too and came over to give it to me with a kiss.
"She's nice and isn't into formal names," Hana said.
"And it doesn't hurt that she's red haired, blue eyed and gorgeous," Laney said as Cindy and I laughed.
"You're the lesbian in training, not me," Hana said to Laney. "Have you got between Randi's thighs yet?"
"Noooo!" Laney said as she blushed all over.
"It's not for lack of trying," Cindy said as she walked over and grabbed Laney's foot and pulled her back a few feet. Obviously trying to get a fight started.
"Knock it off, Icey," Laney said with a finger point.
"Make me, Laid knee," Cindy said as everyone started laughing at that horrible (aborted) nickname.
"We should just call her, Lame Knee," Hana said as Laney looked at her for a moment and then, in one swift move, rolled over and pounced on poor Hana and started to tickle the piss of out of her. Cindy jumped in next as she grabbed onto Laney's foot and started tickling her in response. All I could do was laugh at the silliness.
