Hi all. First of all I have a few thank you's. To Jordan for being a good friend and for helping me out when I was having trouble with this story. To Joe for... simply for being you I guess. I luv ya! Second of all I have a request. If you are reading this, pleez e-mail me. Just tell me what you think, comments, criticism, etc. I really need to know what you guys think and lately I haven't been getting a lot of feedback, so I don't know if you guys like where I'm taking this story. One more thing. I don't know who has the lead vocals in 'Back to your heart'. I haven't been a fan for very long, and AJ's and Kevin's voices are the only ones I can recognize for sure. So for the purpose of this story, Brian has the lead vocals in 'Back to your heart'. And now, on to Chapter 18. Enjoy! -------------------------- ** One week later**

It was one of those hot and humid August days when the world seemed to stand still in the scorching heat. The sun was burning down relentlessly as Nick made his way across the street in what seemed like slow motion. He entered the lobby of the hotel, savoring the tingling as the cold air from the air conditioning grazed his skin. With a long sigh, he sank down into one of the couches in the lobby.

"Hi there Kaos. How are ya holding up?" Nick looked up and smiled weakly at AJ.

"I'm still alive, if that's what you mean." He replied. AJ shook his head.

"Still upset? I mean, I can understand. I know it'd be completely destroyed if JC broke up with me." AJ sighed.

"I'll be okay. I just need some time to adjust and think about this." Nick explained. AJ nodded.

"I'm on my way to the gym, but if you wanna talk you can come to my room later." He suggested.

"Thanks Bone. But I'd rather be alone." Nick said.

"Wouldn't you be more alone in your room? In case you haven't noticed, you're sitting in the lobby." AJ pointed out.

"In case you haven't noticed yet, I don't have a room at the moment. Remember, you kicked Justin out so you and JC could have some privacy. So Justin moved back into our room and Brian is asleep. I don't wanna wake him up." Nick explained.

"You can go to my room. Josh is at the mall with Kevin, and by the time I'm done down here, Brian will be up." AJ said.

"Thank you! You're the best, Bone." Nick exclaimed. They parted ways as AJ continued on to the gym and Nick made his way to AJ's room.

It had been a week already. A week of loneliness, and sadness, and despair, all for one meaningless kiss. Nick was destroyed, broken. He knew he'd never be the same if he didn't get Justin back. What was there for him to do? He had already tried talking, but he had totally screwed up. Like in the song, 'I Need You Tonight'. "I figured out what to say to you, but sometimes the words, they, they come out so wrong, oh yes they do. "

Nick sang the words softly. Oh yes, he needed Justin tonight, and every night to come till the end of the world. He had never felt a love so deep before, and not having Justin with him was tearing him apart.

All of a sudden, it came to him. Why hadn't he thought of this before? He had already figured out that he wasn't much good at talking. It was the written word that was his strength. So he had written countless letters to Justin, none of which he had read. But there was one thing that he was good at, the one thing that he lived for. His one passion besides Justin. Singing!

He could sing to Justin. And he already knew the perfect song. It was from their 'Millennium' album and fit the situation perfectly. Within seconds, he was dialing the number to JC's cell phone. After the third ring, JC picked it up.

"Hello?" he asked.

"Hi JC, it's me. Nick." Nick said.

"Oh. What a pleasant surprise." JC's voice had gone a few degrees colder, and it was blatantly obvious that he meant the exact opposite of what he was saying.

"JC, please don't hang up. I know that I screwed up, but..." Nick began.

"So you realized. My, aren't you a quick one." JC interrupted him, his voice again dripping with sarcasm.

"JC, just listen to me. I love Justin too much to just let him go. I want one more chance to prove how much I regret what I did. Can you please do me a favor?" Nick was almost begging. He could hear JC sighing in defeat.

"Ok, alright. Tell me what you want me to do."

"Thanks Josh. Ok, here's what I was thinking. On the concert tonight, the Backstreet Boys go first, right. So all you have to do is make sure that Justin is on the balcony for the last fifteen minutes of our concert." Nick explained.

"I'll see what I can do. See you tonight." JC said.

"No wait, is Kevin with you?" Nick asked.

"Yeah, you wanna talk to him?"

"Uhu, could you put him on?" JC did and a few seconds later Nick was talking to Kevin.

"Kev, I need to ask a huge favor of you." Nick began.

"And what would that be?" Kevin asked.

"Well, I want to sing for Justin tonight. Could we somehow arrange for 'Back to your heart' to be the last song tonight? And I want to sing it solo."

"Nick, you're a very talented singer and all, but that's Brian's song. You never sang it. There's no way that you can learn it by tonight." Kevin said.

"I can ask Brian to teach me. Kevin, this means everything to me. It could be my last chance to get Justin back. I have to do this." Nick pleaded.

"Damn, Nick. I don't even know if I can still switch the order of songs. The concert is tonight." Kevin argued.

"Please try."

Kevin gave in and promised to see what he could do. Nick hung up and raced over to his and Brian's room. He had some work to do.

"Tell me again, why are we getting dressed already? We don't have to be on stage for another half an hour." Justin complained.

"For the millionth time, Curly, we're gonna watch the last part of the Backstreet Boys concert." JC said.

"I don't like them anymore. I'm not gonna watch."

"Yes you are." JC decided.

Ten minutes later, they were sitting on the balcony. The Backstreet Boys were just finishing up another song. When it was over, Nick sat down on a stool in the front of the stage. The rest of the groups stood behind him in a semi-circle. Nick started talking.

"The last song for tonight will be "Back to your heart". And I'm dedicating this song to the love of my life. Baby, I know I messed up, but I still love you with all of my heart. Please give me anther chance."

Up in the balcony, Justin jumped up.

"Josh, please don't tell me that's what you dragged me up here for. Please don't tell me you were in on this." He was already by the door. JC grabbed him and pulled him back to his seat.

"Curly, he really loves. You should forgive him." JC said.

"I want to. But what if he hurts me again?" Justin whispered.

"Just give him a chance." JC tried again. But Justin didn't reply. Quietly, they listened to the song.

By the time Nick was done, he had tears in his eyes. He had put everything he was into this song, and he was exhausted. He didn't even wait for the applause to subside and left the stage immediately.

Justin was standing in the narrow hallway that connected the backstage area to the dressing rooms. When he saw Nick, he stepped in front of him. He pulled him close and whispered into his ear.

"Kiss me, Nick." Which Nick did. ------------------------------- They're finally back together. Whew. Only two more chapters till this story is over. I really hope you guys had as much fun reading as I did writing. Take care j
