Second Time Around
CHAPTER 8 Just One Night
"Are you sure you want to go?" I pulled the door shut and locked it.
Danny slapped my but as she passed me "For the tenth time today, yes!" She shouldered her over night bag and headed down the steps.
Once at the car I put our bags in the boot and hopped into the driver's side. Danny was already in the passengers seat and was doing up her seat belt. I slid my sunglasses down from the top of my head and started the engine. Yes, it was the Saturday I had been dreading for the past week. I've told myself time after time that I won't be around my parents the whole night. All I have to do is say 'hi' and wish my dad a happy birthday. I was actually looking forward to seeing some people like my cousin Donna and my Uncle Frank, who I hadn't seen for almost a year and a half.
It was roughly a two-hour drive to where my parents lived. Danny had packed us a picnic lunch and we had planned to stop along the coast to eat. It was a beautiful day and it was a pain that we had to spend that much time in the car driving. It was relatively warm and sunny for what was supposed to be winter and when we pulled up for lunch the wind was barely blowing.
After eating we moved down to the beach and spread the picnic rug on the sand. I leaned back and put my hands out to support myself. Danny had her head on my thigh and was busy reading a medical journal. I ran my fingers through her hair while I enjoyed the warmth of the sun. I loved the beach. When Mark and I were younger and still at school we'd spend most of our summer holidays hanging at the beach or surfing. We both had gotten a job at a small cafe that was on our local beach. Through the summer time it was packed. It was a very casual place and a huge hangout for kids. We usually started at 8am, which gave us enough time to go for a surf before we started. I remember one time in autumn when it had started to cool down, Mark did half a shift in his wet suit. That was the sort of place it was. No dress code, just be yourself. I loved that. And I guess I kind of missed it.
There was a part of me that hoped, if not believed, that my parents would be proud or at least happy for me. When I first started at uni and moved out of home they believed that I couldn't survive without them. A year and a half later I was still at uni (and doing very well), as well as working. I must admit that I thought about this a little bit, and every time I did I pushed it too the back of my mind. The majority of me knew my parents wouldn't be like that and I didn't want to get my expectations up only to be disappointed.
I turned my attention back to Danny who was still reading. My hand was still on her head, playing with her hair. I loved her hair. She usually wore it out, which I liked. It was wavy and went past her shoulders. I thought it was sexy.
Half an hour later we were back on the road. Danny had been telling me about an article that she had read in the medical journal and was now singing along to a song that was playing on the radio. I was thinking about where we were going to stay that night. I hadn't made any bookings and decided it was just as easy to go to a motel and book a room there. It wasn't a busy time of the year so finding a place to stay wouldn't be hard. My mum had offered to have us but I declined. I could imagine the looks she would be giving me for sharing a bed with Danny. I guess I wasn't that worried about how it would effect be, but Danny. I didn't want my parents making any comments or anything that would hurt or make her feel uncomfortable. I figured staying at a motel was the best way and I didn't mind paying for it. Urrgg, I got butterflies in my stomach from just thinking about seeing my parents again. Gee, it had been a while since we last saw each other.
I only had to stay at the party for an hour or two, right? Then I could spend the rest of the night making love to Danny. Yeah, that would be good. Hehe, maybe I am looking forward to tonight.
"What are you smiling about?" Danny was peering over at me.
I tried to wipe the smile off my face "Nothing"
It was 3:30 by the time we arrived as we had stopped at a number of places along the way. We decided to get a drink before finding a motel. I parked the car along the strip by the beach and got out, breathing in the salty air. It hadn't changed that much - a few new shops here and there, some new play equipment near the beach, that sort of stuff. I stretched my arms and locked the car once Danny had gotten out. I put my arm around Danny's waist as we started to walk and she slipped her hand in my back pocket.
Once in the cafe Danny got us a table while I went to order. I waited for a man to be served in front of me before stepping up to the counter to be served myself.
"The prodigal daughter returns" the waitress behind the counter smiled at me.
"Ah" It took me a second to realize who was in front of me "Donna! Gee, I didn't recognize you for a second there"
"Well, you look pretty different too" She tapped the pen on her note book "I thought I heard my mum say that you were coming up for the party, though I thought I was hearing things. I really didn't think that I'd see you in this neck of the woods again"
"Well, I guess I had to come home sometime" I looked around me "if that's at all possible. You know what they say - once you leave home."
"You staying with your parents?"
"Hell no! I was going to check into a motel after this"
"I've got a spare room if you're interested?"
I hesitated for a second "I've got someone with"
"Yeah, I saw you walk in together" Donna leant on the counter "She's not bad looking"
I looked over to where Danny was sitting. She was flicking a packet of sugar around the table. I smiled "She's more then that"
"Well how about you take me up on that offer and I can get to know her?"
"You sure it's alright?"
Donna nodded "It will be good to catch up" she picked up her pen "So, what do you want?"
"A caramel milkshake and an ice coffee, thanks"
"No worries. It's on the house"
"Can you do that?"
"Just don't tell anyone" She winked at me and I headed to the table.
Danny was still playing with the sugar. I sat down opposite her.
"You know her?" Danny pointed over to Donna.
"Yeah, that's my cousin Donna" I laughed, "I didn't even recognize her"
Since I saw her last Donna had dyed her hair black. It looked good.
"So that's one member of your family you get along with. You two close?"
I nodded "Yeah. Donna was always the big sister I never had. She was the first person I told about being gay"
"Was she ok about it?"
"Yeah, she was cool. I stayed with her a while when things where too hot at home"
Donna was 29 and lived with her black cat Ninja. She was an artist and had an exhibition in a gallery last year. She was also I singer in a jazz band. They played a lot of gigs in bars and often traveled around the state.
"Oh yeah, Donna's offered us her spare room. Is that ok with you?"
"Sure" Danny lifted my hand to her lips and kissed the back of it.
Donna approached with our order "Here you go" she placed our drinks down.
"Thanks" Danny took her milkshake
I took a sip of my ice coffee "Donna this is Danielle. Danny this is Donna" I watched as they both exchanged greetings.
"Hey, I get off in half an hour if you want to wait around?"
"Sure thing"
Donna left us with the eyes of the manager following her.
Donna's house was amazing. It was filled with her paintings and sculptures made from scrap metal. It was unique, to say the least.
I tried not to think about seeing my parents again, but every so often I would. I was sitting on the bed in Donna's spare room lost in my own world of thoughts. I guess Danny had been standing in the doorway for a while watching me. I shook my head and came back to reality to see Danny leaning against the doorframe. She knew I was worried about seeing my parents. I tried to act like everything was all right and that I didn't care, but Danny wasn't that stupid, she knew that wasn't the case.
"I was going to have a shower. Do you want to join me?" She had already taken off her jeans and was standing in her t-shirt and underwear.
"Yeah. I would like that" I stood and joined her in the bathroom.
Danny unbuttoned the shirt I was wearing and I slipped off my pants. Danny stripped off the rest of her clothes and ducked into the shower to turn it on. I took off my underwear and followed her into the warm water. I let the water wash over me for a minute before I reached for the soap. Danny beat me to it and then grabbed a cloth and started to wash me, starting with my back and shoulders. After she finished I returned the favor. I then leant back against the shower wall and watched while she rinsed the soap off her body.
She saw me watching and I smiled. She put her hand in mine and kissed me, lightly pressing her wet body against mine. Our kissing became a little heavier and Danny slid her leg in between mine. I could feel her thigh against my pussy, which was starting to drive me crazy as she kept it still. Her hand slid up the side of my body and found a breast.
"I thought I could take your mind off things for a while" Danny whispered in my ear.
Her thigh started to move against my pussy and her lips laid kisses along my neck. My breathing became heavier as her thigh moved harder against my clit. I could now feel her tongue on my neck and collarbone. She pinched my nipple in between her fingers and I moaned loudly. I could feel her lips give a smile at this. One of my hands was on her hip and the other was firmly holding her ass. I put my head back and enjoyed the sensation of what she was doing to me.
Before too long I felt the first wave of an orgasm.
"I'm coming," I murmured
Danny kept her thigh moving at a steady pace and my body tensed as I came. My grip on her must of tightened. She slowed down as I slumped back against the wall.
"Oh god" I tried to catch my breath.
Danny was kissing my neck and I had my hand on her head. She came to my earlobe and nibbled on it.
"We should probably start to get ready or we'll be late" She ran a finger down my nose.
"I don't care if we're late" I found her lips.
"Donna's giving us a life remember?" Danny rinsed off her thigh and opened the shower door.
"But what about you?" I stepped out of the shower and Danny threw me a towel.
"That was my treat"
I was tempted to just wear my faded jeans that I had been wearing earlier that day, but Danny wouldn't let me leave the room like that. Instead I threw on some dressier black pants, a shirt and my leather jacket. I followed Danny out the door and into the car.
It was only a ten-minute drive to my parent's house. It was dark and the lights in the garden and along the drive way were turned on. There were already a dozen or so cars parked up the street, which was a good indication that we weren't the first ones there - thank god! Danny slipped her hand into mine while we walked up to the house. I was grateful that she had come with me.
The house was full of talking and laughing. I looked over the crowd as I walked in the door seeing some familiar faces amongst them. Danny let go of my hand as we entered and walked through the crowd. The three of us walked into the large lounge room where the bar was.
"I need a drink. You want one?" I asked Danny.
"Sure"
We made our way to the bar and I got us both a glass of champagne. I quickly drank half of it while Danny took one small sip. I could see the side of my mum's head a few meters away.
"You ready to meet my mum?"
Danny followed my gaze "No time better then the present"
I took a deep breath and walked towards her. She was talking to another man and woman, who stepped away just as we approached her.
"Hey" I smiled at her
"Hello" She smiled back and then looked at Danny.
"Mum, this is Danielle. Danielle, this is my mum Mrs. Walker"
"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Walker" Danny's smile was very warm.
"Same to you" My mum returned the smile "How was the drive?"
"It was good, thank you" Danny replied.
"We stopped on the way for a picnic" I took a sip of my drink (a sip meaning a large mouthful).
"Perfect weather for it" My dad came up behind me.
I introduced him to Danny and wished him a happy birthday. The four of us talked for roughly ten minutes before I excused us. I put my empty glass on the bar and grabbed another drink; I checked Danny's glass, which was still half full. I then lead Danny out the back where a bunch of guys where talking. As we came closer the eldest man stood and held out his arms. It was my uncle Frank.
"Ashley!" He pulled me into a tight hug "Let's take a look at you" He took a step back from me "You're looking well kid"
"You too, Frank"
He looked over at Danny "Who's your friend?"
I introduced her to Frank and then to the others. The other 4 were some of my younger cousins - the eldest, Chris, being 17. Chris was sitting to the side of Danny and I could see him checking her out. We moved over to some seats and I lightly kicked Chris's leg as we past.
"She's not sure type mate" I whispered to him, putting my hand on the small of Danny's back.
Frank stepped away from the group as he pulled out a cigarette and lit it. Danny was talking to Chris about what he wanted to do after he left school and I was watching two of my younger cousins jumping on and off chairs and tables and climbing up the fence as they pretended to be Spiderman.
Frank returned with drinks for himself, Danny and I, and made himself comfortable next to Danny.
He nudged her "I'm going to tell you some stories about young Ashley" He chuckled.
My eyes widened and my head shoot around to face him "Oh no you don't!"
Danny giggled as Frank pretended not to have heard me "She was a difficult child. She used to drive everyone crazy 'cos she always had so much energy. When she was four I think it was, she thought she was a cat. There used to be a huge tree just over there" Frank pointed to his side "anyway, she climbed right to the top and got stuck. It took us three hours to get her down" Frank shook his head "I had to climb up there and talk her down myself"
I glanced over at Danny who had the biggest smile on her face. Chris was also laughing.
"And another time" he continued "Her and Mark - do you know Mark?" Danny nodded "Yeah, well they were four or five and Ashley's grandfather was supposed to be looking after 'em. He had put 'em down for a nap and then had fallen asleep himself. Being the rat bags they were, they got out of bed and decided to bake a cake. I don't know what exactly happened but when her parents and I came back from lunch there was flour everywhere. I'm not talking about just in the kitchen - it was all through the house. They had tried to clean some of it up with water, which made an even bigger mess as you can imagine. We found 'em out side hiding in a bush 'cos they knew they were in trouble. They had eaten half the cake and tried to give the rest of it to us as a peace offering. Worse piece of cooking I ever seen - half cooked, complete with egg shells, peanut butter and what ever else they thought went in a cake"
Everyone was laughing. I took a large sip from my rum and coke.
"You're suppose to take the egg shells out, sweetie" Danny grinned as she looked over at me.
"Hmm, yeah I suppose they would of made it easier to swallow"
"What else did you used to eat? Your mother had a fit one day.what was it?" Frank thought.
"I ate a lot of things I probably shouldn't of"
"Like what?" Danny asked.
"Hmm, like crayons, and grass when I was pretending to be a cow after watching Sesame Street one day. Worms - I ate a lot of worms"
"Oh yeah, that's right. You're mother found some in the fridge one day. I think you were three"
"Yeah. They tasted good"
Danny pulled a face "I'm going to be watching you carefully when you cook from now on"
Chris was still laughing "Hey, I got stories on you too kid" I pointed my finger at him and he quickly shut up.
I sat back and listened as Frank told Danny how I had been suspended from school along with Mark and some other kids for putting soap power in all the toilets. When they got flushed they over flowed with bubbles. Danny was smiling and her eyes and ears were glued to him and every word that was coming out of his mouth.
She was cute when she smiled (well she was cute all the time, but still. I liked to see her smile). I ran my eyes over her stocking covered legs and smiled.
I came back down to earth and turned to face Chris "Donna told me you got into some trouble at school" I waited for him to reply.
"Yeah" he kicked the dirt "It's nothing"
"Didn't exactly sound like nothing to me"
Chris and I had always shared a unique relationship compared to that with the other members of my family. He looked up to me, though I never really knew why.
"Some guy was just pissing me off. I know I shouldn't have hit him. I just lost my cool. My parents are giving me such a hard time, I swear I'm going to go crazy"
"They're just worried about you. What else are you up to? I heard your dad caught you drinking?"
"Ow come on. I know you got up to that sort of stuff when you were my age"
"Yeah, but I wasn't stupid enough to get caught" I nudged him in the side "But seriously, be careful ok. I can't exactly stop you from drinking, but just be responsible about it. Ok? I mean it. If I hear any other stories I'll came back and whack you one"
He laughed and then paused "Hey, do you reckon it would be ok if I came and stayed with you in like the holidays or something?"
"Don't see why not. I'll have to talk to your parents about it though and Danielle"
"My parents would be happy to get rid of me"
"Well we'll see. Just don't get into any more trouble"
"I'll try not too"
It was 1am by the time we left the house. I said good-bye to my parents and they said that it was nice to see me again. Danny slipped her hand around my waist as we headed to the car. I took in a deep breath of cold air, still feeling the alcohol at play in my body.
Back at Donna's house we both stripped off our clothes and got changed for bed.
"Thanks for coming tonight, it meant a lot to me" I watched as Danny got in bed and pulled the covers over her body.
She smiled "That's alright. I wasn't exactly going to let you go on our own. Now hurry up and get in here to warm up the bed" Danny lifted the coves for me and I slipped in beside her.
She was lying on her back and I rested my head on her shoulder and hooked my arm around her stomach. Danny then wrapped an arm around me.
"Danny"
"Hmm?"
"I don't know what I ever did to deserve you. I love you. You know that, right?"
"Of course I know that. I love you too. Don't forget that"
"I won't. Goodnight"
"Sweet dreams, hun" Danny kissed my forehead.
I sighed and closed my eyes, enjoying the warmth of Danny's body. This was one of my favorite things in the world - cuddling up with her. It made me feel special. It made me feel wanted. I would give up everything else to be held by her and to hear the words 'I love you' come out of her month.
I couldn't help but wonder how long this would last - how long we would be together? I knew that I was in no hurry to give it up and I could easily see myself with her for a very long time, but I can't speak for Danny. And as they say - 'it takes two to tango'.
As usual I appreciate any comments! another_face101@hotmail.com The next chapter should be up in the next week or two. Have a good day!
