"Mitch, I'd appreciate it if you didn't tell Josh about this" was all Vanya said before opening the door and leaving.
Mitch, still frozen, was not only horrified at being discovered, but also the horniest he could ever remember being.
It was a few minutes before Mitch could will himself to move, and get his heart rate under control. His whole head felt hot and he knew he was sweating. The smell of sex and cum was still thick in the air. Even from this distance he could see the cum splattered on the floor and shelves. He left the closet quickly, not sure if he shut the door.
This isn't how things work. None of this is right. Mitch thought, replaying the last several days, including this recent encounter, in his head.
Mitch was plodding along the hallway in a daze when someone grabbed his shoulder and turned him around. He focused and saw Josh who was wearing an expression made of half-concern and half-youthful joy.
"Hey guy, I need to get you a compass." Josh said as he ruffled Mitch's hair briefly.
Mitch just starred at him as if he didn't understand what language Josh was speaking.
"I said north wing. This is the south wing." Josh clarified. "I can see why you would get confused though, they're identical. Ok, we should get going if we're going to get to Calc on time. I'll just have to think of things we can do with our free period after." He continued, giving Mitch a mischeivous grin.
Mitch just starred, his mind racing. He couldn't deal with everything. Something was coming apart somewhere inside him, but he didn't have the words to say anything at that moment.
"Are you ok? Did you have gym right before this? You look all flushed and sweaty. I bet you're dehydrated." Josh frowned putting his hand on Mitch's cheek. "And you're clammy."
"Josh, I have to go, now. I can't take all of this. It's too much." Mitch said shaking his head. He turned and started to walk swiftly to the nearest exit path.
"Can't take what, Mitch? What's wrong?! You can't ditch Calc like this; you'll get in trouble. Let me take you to the nurse's office at least." Josh said running ahead of Mitch, standing in his way.
Barely noticing Josh's presence, Mitch sidestepped the human roadblock and kept moving. Josh caught up with him again and stopped Mitch's forward momentum with his hand. "Hey! Talk to me." Josh pleaded.
The look that Mitch gave Josh was one of pure fury. "No! No talking. I need space right now, and if you care about me you'll give it to me." Mitch said as he grabbed a hold of Josh's hand pushing it away. "I'll try and call you later." Mitch practically yelled as he continued on, not turning back to look at Josh.
Josh was stunned. Thoughts of getting to Calc on time, or at all, left him. He sprinted to his car hoping he could catch up to Mitch, hoping that he'd find him on his way home. After driving around the area a few times, he stopped at Mitch's house. Angela was sitting in a lawn chair in the front yard scribbling in a notebook. There was some string and wooden stakes to either side of her.
She smiled when she saw him as he got out of his car. "Afternoon Josh. I didn't expect you guys for a little while yet. Where's Mitch?" She said, noticing that Josh had been the only one in the car.
"He's not here?" Josh said frustrated and short of breath.
"No, I haven't seen him since he left with you this morning." Angela noticed that Josh was upset. "Josh, what happened? Is Mitch ok?"
"Yeah. No. I don't know. That's the problem, he wouldn't tell me. I was going to meet up with him before our last class. He went to the wrong part of the school, and when I found him, he looked crazy and told me he needed space and just walked away. I tried to find him, but I didn't see him at all."
Angela processed all of this. It wasn't like Mitch to act like this even when he was upset. "Josh, did you two have a fight?"
"No!" Josh was getting more upset. "That's just it. Everything was fine and then this happened. I have to find him."
"I think you should go home and calm down a bit. If you don't feel like you can drive, you're welcome to stay here. Can you drive?"
Josh looked just as upset, but less frantic about it. "Yeah I can drive. Are you going to go look for him?"
"Yup. I have an idea." Angela said putting her notebook aside. "Go home. I'll see that he calls you when I find him. Ok?"
"Alright. Thanks Mrs. Anders. I'm really sorry. I don't know what I did. He wouldn't tell me."
"It's ok. I'll find him. When Mitch gets upset, he gets sloppy." Angela said. She ignored the confused look on Josh's face. "Go on home now." She reiterated. Josh, still confused, got in his car and drove off.
Angela took out her cell phone and started fiddling with a few applications. She found what she was looking for and mumbled to herself, "Ok, let's see where that is."
She eventually found Mitch in a park about a mile away from school grounds. Mitch, who was sitting in a swing, saw her in his peripheral vision. Before she could say anything, he kept his gaze straight ahead and said, "I see my attempts at jamming the radar on the microchip in my underwear have failed." His voice was dripping with sarcasm.
Angela, ignoring the sarcasm replied, "Not exactly, honey. We microchiped your ear, not your underwear" She joked. He looked at her and she waved the cell phone a few times.
He grunted, looking sullen "The gps on my cell. Clever."
"Not that clever. If you were thinking more clearly you would have just disabled it." She said as she sat in the swing beside him. "Or maybe you wanted to be found. You did a good job of upsetting Josh."
"Awww. Poor, perfect, Josh is confused? Tragic. I'm surprised he's not used to it by now." Mitch almost spat acid when he spoke.
"Seems a little harsh. What'd he do to earn that?" She was calm. She knew her son. Mitch recounted what happened in the hallway. He didn't bother mentioning what happened to cause him to be in the hallway in the first place.
"I don't know what else I can tell you, Mom. And even if I could, I'm not sure you'd understand." Mitch's tone changed from bitter to sad.
"You seemed happy to see him this morning."
"Yeah, well, that was morning, wasn't it? Stuff happens during the day."
"Someone's got a case of the mondays?" Angela said with smile, quoting one of Mitch's favorite movies. He looked at her and just shook his head without any amusement. She was patient, though, and waited for him to continue.
"Why is everything about sex at this school?"
She wasn't sure that she really liked where this was going, but needed to find out what was going on. "I don't know that this school is any different than any others. If the freshmen I teach are any indication, I'd say sex is a big part of a lot of teenager's lives."
"Not mine, at least it hasn't been." He was quieter now and looked at the ground when he spoke.
"Honey, did Josh try and do..anything that wasn't ok?"
"Mom! No! Josh never, would never, do that." He was upset, but the news relieved Angela greatly. Josh was a big guy and she had no doubt that he could force a lot on Mitch if he wanted. Mitch went on, "I don't know how to deal with all this. It's freaking me out. I can't take all the attention...from everyone. I've been invisible for so long. I barely know how to talk to anyone my own age, but now I have a perfect, popular, handsome boyfriend? After one day of school? And he can't stop kissing me? What the hell is wrong with him? He shouldn't even see me, or want to talk with me. And I shouldn't notice half of what goes on, either." He was on the verge of tears now.
"It sounds like you have a problem."
Mitch closed his eyes and cursed under his breath. "Oh no, not this. I'm really not in the mood for this."
"What do we do with problems?" Angela said, her voice firm.
Mitch throw his head back, rolling his eyes in derision and clucked his tongue. "We solve them." he said parroting a response that he had given many times in the past.
"How?" She said in the same tone.
"We observe the symptoms, define the problem, going from the general to the specific until we isolate the root cause." Apart from being obviously annoyed, his voice was mostly expressionless.
"And then?"
"We create a hypothesis, gather resources, test the hypothesis and attempt to apply the solution, attempting different solutions as necessary."
"Excellent. Now what are your symptoms?"
Growing progressively less fond of this exercise, Mitch answered her. "I'm pissed, overwhelmed, and frustrated."
"Can you define the problem?" She kept her voice steady, but softened her tone now.
Mitch thought about it for several minutes. "I'm terrified."
"Of what?"
"Him, me, who I'll become if we start getting more serious, life, this new town and school. I'm scared of everything, Mom." He finally got the words out and was surprised at how defeated he sounded even to himself.
Angela got up from her swing and went over to lay a hand on her son's shoulder. She ran her other hand through the hair on the back of his head. Memories of pushing him in a swing when he was a toddler flashed through her head. "And your hypothesis?"
"Evolve or perish. I can adapt, forget who I am and become someone different, or cut things off with Josh completely and stay who I am."
"I'm so sorry, Mitch." Angela's voice was shakier now and she stopped running her hand in his hair.
"Why? You didn't do anything."
"That's the problem. We didn't teach you how to deal with smaller situations so you could be prepared for bigger ones. We just moved you around and assumed you would figured things out on your own. Sometimes I think you're too smart for your own good."
"I'm not that smart."
Angela let a little attitude of her own into her voice. "Mitch, don't get upset, but since things were going so fast, I took the liberty of looking through your school things when you were out with Josh on Saturday. I saw the homework they gave you and your class notes. You were solving those homework problems when you were a freshman. That problem your teacher gave you in class might give someone else a hard time, but we both know you didn't have to work at it."
Mitch was mildly upset at the intrusion, but he couldn't argue with her. "I don't feel very smart right now."
"Your assessment of the possible solutions is invalid."
Mitch turned his head around looked at his mother and gave her a questioning stare.
"Alright, I'll give you this one since we haven't done much for your social education before now. The point of life is to evolve. You don't have to forget who are to be the person you're going to be. You're still you. And you can cut off things with Josh if that's what you decide is best, but I think it's a little late for that if you want to go back to who you were. I think we both know the damage is done on that front." She went on, "Everyone's scared, sweetie. Right now Josh is scared. He has no idea what he did wrong. Brave people are scared all the time, and they live their lives anyway."
"What do I do?" Mitch felt drained as he said it.
"What do you want to do?"
"I want Josh. I just don't want so much of everything, at least not all at once." Mitch finally admitted, more to himself than his mother.
"I think you should probably have a talk with him about how you feel then. Sooner would be better than later. I'd guess his parents are having to tranq him to calm him down." Angela teased.
"That upset, huh?" Mitch glanced at her again.
"It's plain that he cares a great deal for you, but he might be overreacting just a little. You should call him and tell him we're on our way over. " She said as she stood and waited for him to get up.
"We are?"
"Yes, we are."
Mitch stood up from his swing and dialed Josh's number.
"Mitch! what's going on?"
"Mom and I are heading to your house. Are you there?"
"Yeah."
"Ok, I'll see you soon."
Neither boy knew how to end the conversation so Mitch hung up the phone.
The drive to Josh's house was silent as Mitch tried to figure out what to say when he got there. The door to Josh's house almost flew open the second that Mitch knocked on it.
Mitch looked at Josh who was still wasn't himself and then looked down at the floor. "I'm sorry Josh. I had a meltdown and I shouldn't have said what I said."
Josh looked from Angela to Mitch before giving Mitch a big hug."I'm glad you're ok." Josh said, sounding much relieved.
Karen, who had heard the door open, walked by and saw her son hugging a nearly suffocated Mitch. "Maybe Mitch and his mother would like to come in, Josh."
Josh stopped his hugging suddenly and stepped back into the house. "Yeah, please," He said as he walked into the living room followed by Mitch and both mothers.
"Angela, could you help me in the kitchen. I'm not sure I have this...broth quite right." Karen suggested. Angela gave her a queer look, but followed her in.
Once they were in the kitchen, Karen explained. "Sorry, I just thought they could use some time to chat. Any broth I use is from the store."
"Oh good." Angela relaxed a little. "I'm a disaster in the kitchen. I'm sorry if Josh came home too upset. Mitch has been going through a lot in the last few days. I'm afraid his father and I haven't really prepared him for dating anyone."
"Don't worry too much about it. They'll figure things out. Josh was a little nuts when he drove up, but he needs to learn that sometimes people just need some time to themselves and that he can't fix everything himself. He has his own growing up to do."
Meanwhile in the living room, Josh and Mitch sat down on the Benson family couch facing each other.
Mitch started, "If my mom is helping out in the kitchen you may want to think about take out."
Josh grinned a little, but didn't say anything. He had a lot he wanted to ask Mitch, but didn't know how fragile he was. He remembered his mother telling him to be patient.
Mitch picked up Josh's reticence and took a moment to pause and sigh. "Josh I'm sorry I snapped like that. I have something I need to say and it isn't going to be easy to say it."
The bottom dropped out of Josh's stomach. Based on examples he'd heard all throughout his previous years in school, he was sure this was the beginning of 'the break up speech.'
Mitch's memory flashed on the old physics books he saw in the janitor's closet."Hey, do you know Heisenberg's uncertainty principle?" Mitch asked, thinking of a way to get through what he had to say. Josh frowned, looking completely lost.
Ok, this should be fun Mitch's sarcastic inner demon pipped up.
"It's this thing in physics that states..."
"..that you can't simultaneously determine both the position and velocity of a particle with any certainty. Football players study for physics tests, too, ya know. I just don't know why we're talking about it." Josh interrupted, finishing Mitch's explanation. He still looked confused. He was also starting to look impatient.
Mitch was floored, but tried not to look too shocked. He didn't want to offend Josh.
Maybe this is what Josh felt on that first day in Calc. Well fuck me! Mitch, thought, meaning it both figuratively and literally. A feeling washed over him. It carried with it the warm memory of being held by Josh and something else. The feeling of not having any real connection to Josh, beyond the physical, was fading. He realized he could actually talk to Josh and he didn't have to hold back. It was terrifying to want to open up to someone, but the end result was that he wanted to jump Josh right then and there.
He didn't. But he did recognize the look on Josh's face indicating that he had been silent for too long. Mitch cleared his throat, "So, I'm kind of like a particle. By noticing me you're changing me, if that makes sense."
"Well, no, it doesn't really. I think you're confusing the uncertainty principle with... Wait, fuck that! Why are we even talking about that? Are you saying you freaked out because of a weird metaphysical debate in your head?" Josh wondered, trying to make sense of everything. How fragile could Mitch possibly be?
Mitch knew Josh was right, and he had to make a strong effort to keep from pushing Josh back on the couch and making out with him just then. It became obvious to Josh that something was going on as well when he glanced at Mitch's crotch. He was still confused, but chuckled, handing him a pillow. "Here, you'll need that in case anyone comes in."
Mitch accepted the pillow, placing it in his lap and tried to continue his train of thought. "My point is that just by noticing me, you're kind of changing me, and being in a new town anyway...And I've never dated anyone, and everything we're doing... It's just a little too much to deal with all at once. On Thrusday I had a pretty firm grasp on who I was. I'm not sure now. Uncertain." he ran out of steam.
"I'm sorry Mitch. I wasn't thinking. You kind of have that effect, I guess. In a good way" He added quickly and continued. "I've lived in this town my entire life. I've gone to school with the same people for years and years. For me it was something new and really exciting, but I knew I was safe. If I get hurt, I can come home to the house I've lived in since I was 8 and I know it'll be ok. I forgot everything is new for you here. I wanted to be that person that was safe for you to run to, and I've managed to be the thing that caused you to run. Here.."
Josh pulled out a cloth bag from his back jeans pocket. It was dark green and the cloth reminded Mitch of something that he couldn't quite place. There was a drawstring made of what looked like a shoelace. It had something in it. He gave it to Mitch, who recognized the weight, feel, and sound of the objects clacking against each other inside.
"This is a dice bag." Mitch said, feeling the dice inside. His face grew softer and and more relaxed.
"Yeah." Josh smiled, glad that it seemed to make Mitch feel better. "I made it."
"You made it?"
"Yeah, I had an old pair of gym shorts that didn't fit anymore. So, I cut them up and borrowed mom's sewing bag" Josh blushed a little then. "I had to try a couple times. It's a good thing I wear larger sizes. Then, I found some runic alphabets online. The stitchings at the top are supposed to be runes of luck and protection."
Mitch took a close look and there were tiny, roughly sewn runes in bright yellow thread going all around the bag near the top.
Josh went on "I got the dice on Sunday after my jog. They reminded me of you. I saw people playing at the store I went to and they all bags for their dice."
Mitch picked one at random by feel, the 20-sider, and took it out, holding it in his palm. It was mix of green and tan swirls that were also iridescent.
"If you hold them up to the light just right, they get hazel, just like your eyes." Josh explained. "I understand if you don't want to see me anymore, but I'd like you to keep that."
Mitch put the die back in his bag and leaned forward to kiss Josh, who had been looking down at the couch cushions. Josh was caught by surprise and let himself be pushed backward against the arm of the sofa. He couldn't help but kiss back. They both felt stirrings in their crotches, but this wasn't about sex or hormone-induced passion. Before long both boys could tell that the other wanted nothing more in the world than to be close to each other in that moment. Mitch maneuvered himself above Josh and stayed there. They explored each other with their lips and tongues for several minutes, until they heard someone cough.
They turned around to see Steven, Josh's father, standing in the middle of the living room holding his laptop bag in one hand and the mail in the other. Both boys scrambled apart, attempting to hide their erections with as little notice as possible.
Steven said, "In addition to the open room door rule, I think we need to set a 'no making out in the middle of the afternoon in the living room rule.' Besides, Josh, shouldn't you be at practice?
Josh closed his eyes in anger and mouthed the word "FUCK" silently. He had completely forgotten. Mitch tried to come to his rescue. "I kind of had a meltdown at school today, Mr. Benson. I left just before our last class, and Josh was worried enough that he tried to come after me. It's my fault."
"I'm sorry about your meltdown Mitch. I'm glad you're feeling better." He glanced between the two boys remembering seeing them kissing each other as he entered the living room," but it's still his fault. He could have talked to a teacher or the nurse. Josh, you'll see the coach before school tomorrow and hopefully he won't kick you off the team. And no going out this week or weekend. That means not having Mitch over too."
"Yes sir." Josh knew that he had let his father down and it showed on his face. "I'm sorry."
Mitch laid a hand on Josh's leg in support and said, "Sir, Mrs. Benson and my mom are in the kitchen. They'd probably be able to catch you up better than we can on the details."
"Thank you. I'll see to that." He said heading to the Kitchen.
When Steven was safely away, Mitch rubbed Josh's leg a little, "I'm so sorry Josh. This is all my fault."
Catching Mitch by surprise, Josh looked up smiling. "You kissed me."
"Yes...I was there, I remember." Mitch was confused. It was one of those days for everyone, it seemed.
"I don't have a lot of experience, but that wasn't a good-bye kiss, was it?" Josh concluded, remembering the feeling of closeness. The elation on his face was intoxicating for Mitch.
Mitch grinned "No it wasn't."
"So you still want to be my boyfriend?"
"I'm not sure what it means to be a boyfriend, which sounds stupid, but it's true. Yes, the short answer is that I do."
"Then fuck it. The week doesn't mean anything. I'll see you at school and maybe you can come to practices and I can see you there."
"If mom doesn't ground me for ditching Calc, yeah." At that moment a big fluffy orange cat jumped on the pillow in Mitch's lap and started purring and rubbing his head on Mitch's hand, biting it occasionally. "You have a cat?!"
"Yeah.. you're not allergic are you? His name is Tugs."
Mitch started laughing and couldn't stop for a solid minute. Josh joined in a little but had no idea why they were laughing. He was just happy that Mitch was getting some much needed release. Tugs didn't seem to mind either. He settled in and only flicked and ear or his tail.
Mitch caught his breath and started to explain. "No I'm not allergic. I love cats, but Josh, I'm old fashioned. I was raised with values. A boy should know if his suitor has any pets before anyone's prostate starts getting massaged."
They both started cracking up again, which annoyed Tugs enough that he went in search of a sunny, and quiet, place to lounge.
When they both were able to stop laughing, but only gradually so, they sat in comfortable silence glancing at each other from time to time. They were left with grins on their faces when Josh reached out and held Mitch's hand in his. "I don't think I've told you yet, but your hands are really warm."
"Oh, yeah. Sorry about that. They always are." Mitch said, assuming that he was causing discomfort.
"Don't apologize. It's nice. I bet you give great massages."
"I wouldn't know. I haven't tried." Mitch felt his face get warm again. "Well, except under certain very specific situations."
The look in Josh's eyes said as much but he confirmed his thoughts out loud, "I remember."
"It sucks for reading though." Mitch added.
"How does that work?"
"I'll wilt pages and books if I hold them for too long. My hands get sweaty."
"Really? Wow."
"Yeah it's kind of inconvenient."
"Mitch, do you wanna go upstairs?" Josh asked hesitantly.
"With your door open?"
"I think I learned my lesson about stupidly pushing too much. I just..I just missed sleeping with you the last few nights. I was hoping that if you're ok with it, we could just take a nap together. It's going to be a week before we get another opportunity." An uncommon combination of slyness and innocence passed over Josh's face when he said it.
Mitch, looking a little nervous and also giddy, glanced at the door leading to the kitchen said "Think your dad will get mad?"
"At what? He said I can't have you over for the rest of the week or the weekend. Today is still today and it's just a nap." Looking boyish, mischievous, and possibly contemplating a little more than a nap, Josh added, "Let's go."
And with that both boys snuck up the stairs as quickly and quietly as possible. Josh led Mitch to his room, and Mitch was glad to see that the sheets seemed clean. He didn't notice any obvious traces of the last time he was in this room. Josh kicked off his tennis shoes, stretched out on his bed, and yawned. Mitch caught his breath. Josh was practically bursting out of his tee-shirt. His biceps, pecs, and shoulders stretched the fabric almost to the breaking point. Mitch could almost see the muscles in his thighs flex and tense.
God! He's so beautiful.
"Well come on stud. I won't bite unless you ask me to." Josh said with half-closed eyes.
Mitch took of his shoes and the over-shirt he was wearing, remembering how warm Josh was. He crawled into bed beside Josh, into his waiting arms and facing away from him. Josh rested his arm over Mitch as they both settled into position with a satisfied sigh. Mitch could feel Josh's breathing and it relaxed him, making him sleepy.
Josh whispered into Mitch's ear "I missed this."
With eyes closed and voice low, Mitch answered, "I did too. You do make me feel safe, Josh."
Josh squeezed him a little. "I'm sorry if..parts of me make this uncomfortable."
Mitch was having a hard time concentrating on anything other than being comfortable when he felt Josh growing against his back side. "I'm sorry if parts of me grind back in my sleep."
Closing his eyes, Josh grinned. "Tease." He kissed Mitch on the head and then on the neck before resting his head. "Let's get some sleep while we can, love." The word still terrified and excited Mitch, but he did his best to let it go before succumbing to a warm slumber.
Steven was entering the kitchen when he heard Angela chuckling and saying "So really when you think about it, the concept of a flux capacitor is kind of ridiculous."
Karen looked at her husband with desperation in her eyes. "Steven! I'm glad to see you. How was your day?" The unmistakable message of 'help me' was across her face.
He chortled a little, understanding the message loud and clear. " My day was great, kind of. I landed two new accounts, and then I came in to find the boys making out on the couch."
"That was fast." Karen smiled glancing at Angela, who smiled back.
"Honey, I watch football with the guys on that couch."
"So?"
"And now I'm going to have to think about my son making out with his boyfriend while I reach for a high five."
Karen scowled gently at her husband. "What makes you so sure that they would mind that idea?"
"What are you talking about?"
"I'm just saying is all. That newer one, what is he? 25 maybe? He might as well be a model and I've never heard him talk about a girlfriend. Have you?"
"Well no, but that doesn't mean anything. Not everyone talks about their bedroom at work. And since when do you notice models or my co-workers."
Karen gave him a hard stare. "Look me in the eye and tell me you've never noticed one of the women at my office and that your work buddies never talk about their latest conquests."
"Ok, fine you're right. It's a little weird, and sometimes we give him a hard time about it, but that doesn't mean he's gay."
"Uh huh, and I assume you'll feign ignorance about him flirting with Josh when the guys come over to watch football?"
"What!?" disbelief and shock rang in his voice "I don't believe that."
Karen chuckled. "Ok, believe what you want, but slip the fact that Josh has a boyfriend into a conversation sometime and see how he reacts."
Steven found all of this very hard to believe and harder to deal with. He loved Josh, and knowing he was gay didn't change that at all. Knowing how to treat him or talk to him when it came to relationships was another matter. Previous to Josh coming out, he would have never guessed that his son was gay. It was slowly dawning on him that any of his clients, co-workers, or friends could be gay and just not mentioning it. The thought weirded him out. It wasn't even the fact that two guys were together that bothered him. The idea that someone who saw him on a regular basis could keep a secret like that. He rethought his reaction at seeing Mitch and Josh on the couch and was proud his son felt open enough to do something like that. It would still take a little getting used to.
Angela had been watching the exchange with the same rigor that she used in all her studies. She wasn't quite sure how she and Mitch's father were going to interact, but she was fairly certain that it wouldn't be the same as the Benson's.
"Angela, I just thought about this, you probably don't have your kitchen unpacked. Do you and Mitch want to have dinner with us tonight?" Karen said turning away from her husband.
"I don't have the kitchen unpacked, as a matter of fact, but it wouldn't matter anyway. Daniel, Mitch's dad, should be in town by Thursday. For the safety and well-being of the family we agreed long ago that he would cook and I would clean up. I had planned to become familiar with the local restaurants until then" She responded, lamenting her lack of culinary skills.
A look of sympathy, or was it pity, crossed Karen's face "Well you should definitely have dinner with us tonight then."
"If you insist, but Mitch and I will help with the dishes."
Steven cleared his throat and spoke up. "I kind of told Josh that he couldn't go out or have anyone over for the week or weekend as punishment for skipping class and practice."
Karen's eyes narrowed a little as she looked at him. "You know the coach is going to punish me too, right?"
"He should."
Karen sighed. "Steven, he was just trying to find Mitch. He honestly thought Mitch was going to go off and do something rash. Do you really want to punish your son for being a concerned human being?"
"I can't very well go back on what I've said." He replied, thinking it was the final statement that needed to be made.
"Fine. He can't have Mitch over, but I can. I've invited them both, not Josh. So we all win." She smiled sweetly.
Steven knew there was no arguing with her on this point. "Fine. I'll go let them know." He turned and walked out of the room, almost pouting. Less than 10 second passed before he came back. "They're gone."
"They're gone?"
"Yes."
"Where did they go."
"How should I know? Karen, this is getting a little out of control."
"Oh hush. You're a little out of control." She said slapping him on the shoulder lightly as she brushed past him, sighing "Here, let me handle it."
Karen left the kitchen and confirmed that both boys were gone. Shaking her head she went up stairs and paused to listen at Josh's open door. She thought she heard breathing, but nothing more. She peeked in and saw Josh holding Mitch, both of them asleep. She looked at them for a little while. Both boys looked so peaceful, almost angelic. It struck her how young they both looked. She wasn't sure but she thought she caught either or both of the boys moving their hips, but everyone moves when they sleep.
She walked in and wrote a note on Josh's desk in case they woke up before dinner was ready. She set the note gently next to Josh without thinking. He could sleep like a log, but she hadn't considered that Mitch might be a light sleeper.
When Karen returned to the kitchen she found Angela explaining how the microwave worked to Steven, who was very glad to see his wife. "And?"
"They're in Josh's room, asleep."
"Asleep? they're sleeping together?"
"Yes, they're fully clothed, above the sheets, and sound asleep. I think the stress wore them both out."
Steven had his own ideas about what activities could have worn them out. "If he were up there taking a nap with a girl in his bed, what would you do?"
Karen rolled her eyes a little. "They're not doing anything. If you want, I'll go into detail about the things we did at their age when your parents were in the house, but it might embarrass our guest."
Steven flushed a deep crimson for a moment, "Fine. They can sleep." He said leaving for the living room. Karen waited for the tv to turn on before laughing. Angela added her own chuckle.
Sometime later, Mitch woke up but didn't open his eyes. Josh was still holding him. He concentrated on the feeling of it, and then the smell of Josh. His aftershave was a little cloying but not bad. It mingled with his deodorant and underneath it all was just the smell of Josh that sent excited feelings throughout Mitch's body.
"So you're awake." Mitch heard Josh say quietly.
Mitch opened his eyes and couldn't help but smile. "How did you know?"
The same way he knows half the things he isn't supposed to, idiot. Just accept it.
"I've been watching you sleep for about 5 minutes now. Your breathing changed." Josh brought his arm away from Mitch to stretch a little. When he finished, Josh put his hand at Mitch's waist and untucked his shirt. In a fluid motion, Josh's leg wrapped around Mitch, he put his hand under Mitch's shirt rubbing his chest, getting ready to tweak a nipple, and started kissing Mitch's neck.
Mitch didn't know his cock could get that hard that fast. He gasped when Josh started playing with his nipple. All the while, Josh had been griding his own erection into Mitch's ass. He managed to get out, "Now who's the fucking tease?" in shallow breaths. "We can't do anything with your parents here."
As quickly as he started, Josh stopped. Mitch turned over to meet him face to face, and saw the smug grin on his boyfriend's face. "You're absolutely right. You're having dinner with us, by the way. You and your mom. Looks like my mom left me a note while we were asleep."
"Sounds good." Mitch replied as they both got up, separating in order give their bulges a chance to stand down. The memory of Vanya in the janitor's closet and its stress was laid to rest.
Dinner went well. And so did the first full week of school. The head football coach did not kick Josh off the team, but he did make an example of him through a strenuous series of push ups and laps after practice each day that week. Mitch would like to say that he felt sorry for Josh, but he got a thrill out of watching him. And while Mitch had been dreading seeing Vanya after what happened, it wasn't much of an problem. The two never seemed to be in the same place at the same time for very long.
Daniel, Mitch's father, came home to a surprise on Thursday when he had a chat with his wife about how her week had been. He and Mitch had their own chat that mostly consisted of Daniel telling him that he could come to him with any problems even if he was embarrassed or felt like his parents wouldn't understand; Daniel didn't know what else to say.
Life continued on for a month or so without incident. Mitch would go to Josh's home games and cheer him on, though he had to have the crowd guide him as to when he should actually be cheering. He joined the school's math club, quickly becoming a star in his own right among the school's geekier element. Josh and Mitch's relationship made a little bit of a splash, but most people left it alone.
They remained close to each other whenever time permitted, which usually meant their dates on the weekends. On the few occasions when they had opportunities to explore each other, their time was often spent jacking each other off, trying to prolong the moment as much as the other would allow. Mitch became increasingly interested in attempting to go further, but as amazing as Josh's cock was, it presented a certain challenge. By the same token, Josh was eager to satisfy his own itch by having Mitch hard and inside him, or vice versa, but he knew pushing Mitch would be unwise.
One day, a brief conversation changed everything.
Mitch was having lunch by himself in the cafeteria and reading a Lit assignment.
"Hey Mitch. Mind if I sit down?" Vanya's voice broke Mitch's concentration like a hammer smashing an ice cube.
Trying to keep cool, Mitch gave the only response he could think of. "Sure, it's a free cafeteria."
Vanya sat down with his books and scooted a little closer to Mitch. In a low voice he said, "Thanks for not telling Josh anything. At least I assume you didn.t. He'd probably make a bigger deal out of it than it needed. Anyway, I'm glad you found each other. I've never seen Josh happier. I just wanted to say you're cool."
Mitch was silent for few moments, but nodded when Vanya was done. "I'm glad I found him too."
Vanya gathered his books and got up. "See ya later."
Mitch nodded again, not feeling up to speaking. The awkwardness was too uncomfortable for him. For the rest of the day, the events of that closet experience haunted Mitch. After school in Mitch's room, he couldn't help but open up to Josh about how he was feeling.
"Josh I have to tell you something. It's about why I freaked out when we first started seeing each other."
"Go ahead. You can tell me anything. " Josh said interested. He had been interested in more details about that day, but didn't want to force it out of Mitch.
Mitch took a deep breath, making eye contact with Josh, who seemed relaxed, curious, and listening attentively. "That afternoon when you found me in the wrong wing. I had been in a janitor's closet and...and I was looking around when two people, two guys, came in and had sex."
Josh looked shocked, though maybe he shouldn't have. With the locker room talk the way it was, those closets saw more action than honeymoon suites. "Wow. Did they see you?"
Mitch glanced away, not able to look at Josh. "One did. Josh, it was Vanya. I didn't know he saw me until he asked me not to tell you about it as he was leaving. I can't keep this in any longer. I can't stand keeping something from you, especially something about one of your friends."
Josh was frowning but otherwise didn't seem upset. "That s.o.b. he told me.." Josh cut himself off
Told you what?
They sat in silence for a little while until Josh was finally ready to talk. "Mitch, it's my turn to tell you something, and it's not good."
Mitch felt dizzy and warm but took slow deep breaths
"I lied to you. When we first talked, I lied to you. God this is hard."
Josh wasn't sure what he expected to see in Mitch's eyes, but he found nothing, nothing at all starring back him. He was compelled to go on. "When I came out I felt completely alone, like no one could possibly know what it was like. One night when I was crying alone on the bleachers, Vanya happened to be driving by and found me. He told me he knew what I was feeling because he was Bi and felt like he could never tell anyone. We...we were together that night. Vanya was my first time with anyone. We just needed each other then." Josh had tears in his eyes.
Mitch's response was neutral, completely devoid of emotion. "Were there other times you were with him?"
"No. Mitch.." Josh began, but couldn't continue. He wanted Mitch to yell at him or hit him, or anything else. Instead Mitch sat still and silent, only moving to cross his legs. After he couldn't stand the silence anymore, Josh said, "Please Mitch, talk to me. Yell. Throw something at me."
When Mitch spoke he might as well have been talking to a bank teller or librarian. His tone betrayed nothing of his feelings or that he had heard anything of the last few minutes. "No. I won't. Right now you don't get to make requests." Mitch paused a moment, considering his options. His voice remaining disturbingly neutral. "Here's what I'm not going to do. I'm not going to scream or throw a tantrum. I'm not going to play into whatever high school dating drama you have playing out in your head right now. I should really thank you. I've been kind of wandering around in this fucked up state of fake, hazy bliss. I was lost but didn't mind. But right now, everything's clear. I know exactly where am, what I'm doing, and what I'm going to do. It's liberating, and the first thing I'm going to do is ask you to leave. I'm sure I'll see you at school. There's no need to make things hard for either one of us. It should be easy enough to avoid each other. Give my regards to your parents." Mitch finished and turned around in his desk.
Josh couldn't find a response. Crying, he got up and made his way for the door. He heard something clank behind him as he was almost out of the door. Mitch was working on homework at his desk, but a glance showed that he had just thrown away the dice bag Josh had made for him.
