Seth on the Road to Chaos Chapter 24
I parked my car, and we ran into the emergency area. A security guard put up his hand and tried to stop us. "Please," I cried. "They just brought our friend in, and we have to see him."
"Settle down, Boys," the guard said softly as he gripped my arm. "Let me try and help you."
Craig asked urgently, "Where do they take people who came in an ambulance?"
"What is your friend's name?" the guard asked.
"Blake White," I responded. "Please help us find him. He was hurt really bad."
The guard directed us to a sitting area off to our right. "You boys have a seat," he ordered, "and I'll see what I can find out about your friend."
We huddled together on a leather seat and held hands. There were seven other people sitting nearby, but we were too emotional to care. We continued to cry and pray that Blake was alright.
A small woman who appeared to be in her seventies walked over to us. "Boys?" she asked. "Is there anything I can do for you? I'm a retired teacher, and I want to help you." She asked me to scoot nearer to Ty so she could sit between me and Craig.
She took our hands and said, "Tell me what happened." We cried emotionally as we told her about Blake. She tried to comfort us by saying that perhaps his injuries weren't as bad as they appeared. She related a story about how she had once been in a car accident and thought she might die. She spent two days in the hospital and left with very few problems.
I rested my head on her shoulder and cried. "He's dead," I sobbed. "I just know it." She rubbed my back and tried to calm me. She didn't appear upset when Ty leaned over and hugged me tightly, kissing me on my cheek.
Several minutes later, the security guard appeared. We stood and rushed over to him. The woman held my hand as we approached. "What's happened?" I asked excitedly.
"I'm afraid I really can't tell you anything since you're not a family member," he said.
The woman looked at his badge and said, "Come on, Officer Grant. These boys are worried sick about their friend. Forget hospital policy and do the right thing."
He looked around the room, and then we followed him to a corner away from others. He looked worried as he told us that Blake was being attended to by hospital staff. He talked to a nurse, and she told him that Blake's injuries were serious, but not life threatening. My knees buckled, and Ty and the woman held me upright. The old woman thanked the officer, and he left the room. She helped us return to our seats.
She patted my hand and said, "That sounds optimistic. At least your friend will survive. Was he injured in an automobile accident?"
"No, Ma'am," I replied. "His father beat him."
She let out a slight gasp and said, "Oh, Dear. That's terrible."
Just then a nurse approached us and asked, "Are you Mrs. Edith Bowen?" She said she was, and the nurse told her that they were ready to take her back to a room. We stood and hugged her tightly before leaving.
"Good luck," I said. I had no idea why she was in the ER, but I was happy that she had come over to comfort us.
We sat and continued to hold hands. A few people gave us angry looks, but I didn't care. If they didn't like it, they could sit somewhere else. We had been sitting for about twenty minutes when Mr. Ellis rushed through the door with a police officer trailing behind him. We stood, and I fell into his arms crying.
"What happened, Seth?" he asked worriedly. "You didn't say anything on the phone. I got here as fast as I could." He turned and pointed to the police officer. "I saw Sergeant Carpenter outside, and he came in with me. Now, tell me what happened."
I explained how Amber had told us that Blake had run away from his home. We told him how we had gone to a place where Blake often goes to hide. When we got there, we found him beaten and bloody. I began to cry, and he held me in his arms.
He asked, "Do you know who did it?"
"His father," I cried into his shoulder. "I just know he did it."
Mr. Ellis looked over at the officer. "Do you know anything about this?" He looked at me and then told Mr. Ellis that a report was filed, but he couldn't discuss it with us. Mr. Ellis explained who he was, and that he had a legal right to know what happened so he could protect Blake. The officer stepped away and made a phone call. A minute later, he asked Mr. Ellis to go with him. They exited the room and entered the ER area.
We sat down and waited. I wanted to call Aunt Marie and Uncle Steve, but I wasn't sure if I should. I figured it might be best if Mr. Ellis told them. Ty called his mother and explained briefly what had happened. He told her a friend at school had been injured, and he was at the hospital with him. Craig then called his mother and told her a similar story. She insisted that he come home, but he refused. I took the phone from him and talked to her. I told her Craig was alright, and he was with me and Mr. Ellis. I told her Mr. Ellis was busy, but that Craig would have him call her when he could. She seemed to settle down after that. She talked to Craig briefly. He told her he was okay, and he would have Mr. Ellis call her.
When he put his phone away, he remarked sadly, "She's never going to trust me again." I didn't even consider calling my mother. She probably didn't care where I was. She probably assumed I was out having sex with another boy.
Finally, Mr. Ellis returned to the waiting room. He was followed by Sergeant Carpenter. Mr. Ellis shook his hand, and he patted us on the shoulders before leaving. Mr. Ellis plopped down on the leather sofa and let out a deep sigh. He said sadly, "It's days like this I wish I had become an accountant."
"Is Blake alright?" I asked urgently.
Mr. Ellis sat up, looked around the room and said, "Let's go someplace private." We trailed behind him as he walked down a hallway. He entered a private room and closed the door behind us.
We gathered around him waiting for any news about Blake. He took a deep breath and said, "The first thing I want you to know is that Blake is okay." He looked at our blood-stained shirts. "I know the last time you saw him, things looked bleak. However, sometimes things look worse than they are."
"So, Blake is okay?" I asked hopefully.
Mr. Ellis shook his head and replied, "His doctors say he has some severe injuries, but they could have been worse."
Craig asked, "What happened, Mr. Ellis?"
Mr. Ellis looked at me and frowned. "Your assumption was right, Seth. I probably shouldn't be discussing this with you. But what you boys have been through today, you deserve to know." He shook his head and said, "Blake's father did beat him. He's been arrested."
I asked, "What happened?"
"According to Blake's mother," he said, "His father was attempting to take him to their church to perform an exorcism."
Craig asked, "What's that?"
"Basically," Mr. Ellis explained, "It is where they try to pray evil demons from a person's body?"
"Evil demons?" I asked.
"Yes," replied Mr. Ellis sadly. "Blake's parents felt that Blake was gay because evil demons had taken control of his body. They were taking him to a priest to have him pray the demons from Blake's body."
"That's stupid," remarked Ty angrily.
Mr. Ellis said, "Unfortunately, a lot of people believe that."
"So, what happened to Blake?" I asked. I was more concerned with how badly Blake had been hurt.
"According to the police report," explained Mr. Ellis, "his mother said that when Mr. White tried to remove Blake from the house, Blake began to struggle with her husband. She claims that to protect himself, Mr. White began to hit Blake. It continued for several minutes until Blake was finally able to fight free. He ran down the street, and his mother said she didn't know where he went." He shook his head and added, "Can you believe they called the police and filed a report of battery against Blake because he had hit his father?"
"Bastard," hissed Craig.
He further explained, "His injuries looked worse than they actually are." He looked at our soiled shirts. "Most of the blood came from a large gash on his forehead. He lost a lot of blood running to wherever you found him. He was unconscious from the blood loss. If you hadn't found him when you did, he may have bleed to death." I looked over at my teary-eyed friends.
He smiled and added, "He wanted me to tell guys that you he loves you." It was my turn to tear up.
I asked, "So, they arrested Blake's father?"
"Not at first," he said. "But after Blake was found, the police officers at the scene made a report, and they went to the White home and arrested his father. He's been charged with felony battery and attempted murder."
Ty asked, "Attempted murder?"
"Yes," replied Mr. Ellis. "He made statements at his arrest that he wanted to kill Blake."
Craig sat down and started crying. I sat beside him and embraced him. "Why, Seth?" he cried. "Why did he have to hurt Blake because he's gay?"
Mr. Ellis sat beside him and tried to calm him. "Don't worry, Craig. He'll never hurt Blake again. I'm going to go to a judge in the morning and have Blake immediately removed from their home. I'll also get a restraining order that he nor this wife can go anywhere near Blake again."
I asked hopefully, "Can he go back and stay with Aunt Marie and Uncle Steve?"
He looked at his watch. "It's late, but I'm going to give them a call and go talk to them. I'm sure they will be willing to take guardianship of Blake."
He rose and we hugged and thanked him. I asked, "Can we see Blake?"
"No, Seth," he replied. "Doctors are tending to him right now. Sometime tonight, they will transfer him to a room. Perhaps, tomorrow, if his doctors say he can have visitors, you can see him." He patted us on our shoulders. "Right now, why don't you boys go home and rest. You've had a very traumatic day. After speaking to your aunt and uncle, I'm calling Mrs. Reinhart. I think you may need counseling after what you've experienced." We nodded our heads, and he left.
"What should we do, Guys," asked Craig. "I don't want to leave knowing Blake is hurt."
"Me, either," agreed Ty and me. We returned to the waiting area and sat down. We watched as more people entered. A few scowled when they saw us pressed together holding hands.
"Fuck `em," said Craig when he noticed a middle-aged couple glaring at us disapprovingly. They got up and left when he leaned over and kissed me.
Ty grabbed his stomach when it began to growl. Craig and I started giggling. "What?" asked Ty. "I'm starvin' like Marvin. I have had nothing to eat since breakfast."
I asked, "Do they have a cafeteria here?" Craig rose and asked the receptionist behind the desk. He returned and told us the cafeteria was closed, but there was a coffee shop down the hall.
I said, "I don't have any money?"
"I don't either," responded Craig.
"Don't worry, Guys," said Ty as he patted his wallet. "I can cover it. I got plastic."
I asked, "You have your own credit card? I have to borrow my mother's when I want something."
"Yeah, sure," he replied. "I got a job."
Craig asked, "Doing what?"
Ty's face reddened slightly as he told us he gets paid to tutor a neighbor's kids three times a week. "That must suck," I laughed.
"No, not really," he said. "I enjoy it. I want to be a teacher someday."
Craig looked over at me, laughed and said, "I told you he's a geek." He threw his arm around Ty, and we headed out of the waiting area. "I hope you have a lot of money," laughed Craig. "I'm hungry as a horse." We laughed when Ty started neighing.
The coffee shop had some decent sandwiches. We ordered two apiece, three small bags of potato chips and three large drinks. When Ty put his card back into his wallet, he muttered, "There goes two days' worth of tutoring."
We were the only ones in the coffee shop. We sat at a table and discussed what we should do next. Ty and Craig wanted to stay, but I wanted to go to Aunt Marie and Uncle Steve's house. After my encounter with my mother this morning, I wasn't sure I could return home again.
I suggested that we could go to their house and crash for the night. Then, we could get up early in the morning and visit Blake. Craig and Ty liked the idea. However, first, I would have to get their permission. They might not like three boys showing up late at night wanting a place to stay. I walked away and called my aunt. However, no one answered. I returned and told Craig and Ty to wait and call their parents until I was able to contact them.
We decided to go back to the waiting area. When we entered, Craig suddenly stopped and said surprisingly, "Mom? What are you doing here?" His mother rose from a chair and approached us. I've known Mrs. Gates since I was a little boy. Even though Craig and I had never played together, she and my mother talked often during school affairs. When Craig began dating Stacy, my mother knew all about him.
She was crying as she embraced him tightly. "Are you okay, Dear?" she asked worriedly. He assured her he was all right. She then reached over and pulled me into a hug and asked me if I was okay. I assured her I was. She went over and sat on the leather sofa. Craig and I sat beside her while Ty grabbed a chair and sat down beside me.
"Mom," Craig asked, "Why are you here?"
She replied, "Mr. Ellis called and said something had happened to one of you boys." She pulled out a tissue and wiped tears from her eyes. "At first, I thought it was you. I was so afraid that someone had hurt you." She reached out and took Craig's hand. "I realized one thing."
"What?" asked Craig.
She cried and replied, "I'd rather have a gay son..." She began to cry uncontrollably. Finally, she finished saying, "I'd rather have a gay son than a dead one." She reached out and embraced Craig tightly. I saw tears falling down his face. How lucky, I thought, to have a mother who loves her son.
She sat back and wiped her eyes dry. She asked, "How is your friend? Mr. Ellis said he was hurt rather badly."
"We don't know much," replied Craig. "Mr. Ellis said he's going to be alright. We can't see him until tomorrow."
Craig's mother looked over at Ty and asked who he was. Craig introduced him to her, and she leaned over and gave him a hug. She became upset when she noticed all the blood on his shirt. "Is that your friend's blood," she asked. She then felt Craig and my shirt. "Oh, my," she exclaimed. "He lost a lot of blood." Craig explained that we thought Blake was dead when we found him. She started to cry again. She told Craig that when Blake gets better, she wants to meet him.
She rose from her seat and asked Craig if he was ready to go home. "No, Mom," he replied. "If it is okay with you, I'd like to stay with Seth and Ty tonight."
"Here in the waiting room?" she asked. I told her that we might go back to my aunt's house later and then get up early and return to the hospital. She hesitated a moment before finally agreeing to let him stay.
"You're almost a man now," she said as she held out her arms to embrace Craig. He moved forward and held her tightly. She pulled away with tears in her eyes. "You're growing up so fast." She hugged him again, and then she left.
We sat huddled together on the leather seat. I looked at the clock on the wall, and it was after nine o'clock. I didn't want to leave, but I knew we should go back to Aunt Marie's house and get some sleep. I also wasn't sure what Ty wanted to do.
I stretched out and said, "I'm tired, Guys. We're doing no good just sitting around here. Do you want to leave?"
"Yeah," replied Craig with a yawn. "I'm sleepy."
Ty said, "I am too." I asked him what he wanted to do, and he said that he should go home. His mother kept texting him and asking him to come home. He asked if I could drop him off and then come back in the morning to visit Blake.
After asking the receptionist when the visitor's hours began, we left. I dropped Ty off and waited until he was safely in his house. Craig said, "He's a really nice guy, Seth. I'm glad he was with us today." He grinned and added, "He's going to make you a great boyfriend."
"What about you?" I asked. "I thought we were boyfriends."
"No, Seth," he replied. "You and Ty have this chemistry that we could never have. You are a perfect couple."
I asked, "Do you think so?"
"I know so," he smiled. He took my hand and held it. "Just don't forget who your first love was."
I leaned over and kissed him quickly. "I'll always love you."
He grinned and said, "I know."
`That was simple,' I thought. Ever since making love with Ty, I felt something stronger for him than I did with Craig and Blake. I love them, and I always will. But as Craig said, we have a certain chemistry. If Ty and I do become closer, that doesn't mean we still can't be close. Ty didn't even seem jealous when I told him that I have had sex with both of them. Maybe. No. I'm not even going to think that.
When we left Ty's house, I called Aunt Marie and asked her if Craig and I could spend the night. She began crying and agreed to let us stay with her and Uncle Steve. When we arrived, they both came out to the car and tearfully embraced us. We went into the house and sat in the family room. We spent the next twenty minutes telling them what had happened. When we finished, Aunt Marie went into the kitchen and prepared us something to eat. She told us to go to Blake's room. I wanted to cry when she said that. I knew they had talked to Mr. Ellis and agreed to accept him into their home again.
We hungrily ate the sandwiches, chips and soda she had given us. When we finished, I took the leftovers to the kitchen. When I returned, Craig had removed his shirt and pants, and he was lying in his underwear across the bed.
He looked up, grinned and said, "Get comfy, Seth."
"I'm too tired to do anything," I replied.
"Who said we were going to have sex," he said. "Besides, after what we've been through today, I may not be ready for that for a week." He grinned, winked and added, "Well, maybe a day or two."
I laughed and said, "You mean two hours." He looked at the clock. It was almost eleven.
He laughed and said, "Be ready to be poked awake at one."
"Pervert," I responded as I undressed. Craig watched carefully as I removed my clothes.
He cleared his throat and said, "Damn, Seth. You're going to make Ty a wonderful wife." He began to laugh and added, "Do you think you can share him with me once in a while?"
"That's up to him," I replied with a smile. "I'm not his boss."
"Really?" I laughed when Craig reached down and pressed on his erection.
We lay on the bed quietly for several minutes. Craig wrapped his arm around my body and snuggled his head into my shoulder. "I hope Blake is going to be okay," he muttered with a sniffle.
I assured him that Mr. Ellis said he would recover fully from his injuries. Craig was hesitant that he would ever look the same since the bruises on his face. I asked, "Will that bother you if he doesn't look the same?"
"Fuck no," he spat. "I don't give a shit what he looks like."
I asked, "You really care about him, don't you."
"I'm going to be with him all the way," he replied. "I love that crazy bastard."
I elbowed him in his side and giggled, "You going to share him with me?"
He replied, "You were with him before me. So that is his call."
"Really?" I grinned. We then hugged each other.
I wanted to go to sleep, but something was bothering me. It had been on my mind since my conversation with my mother. "Craig," I asked. "Are you asleep?"
"No," he muttered sleepily. He sat up. "What's wrong?"
I sat up and looked at him. "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure," he said with a puzzled look. "What?"
"Why did you date my sister?"
"What? He asked. "What are you talking about?"
I briefly explained the conversation with my mother. I told him I didn't understand why my mother would leave her alone with him for long periods of time. I even confessed that I had watched them a few times when I was passing the family room.
"We really never did anything," he said as his face reddened.
"Didn't she jerk you off?" I thought I had seen her doing it a couple of times.
"No!" he exclaimed. "I got hard sometimes, and she would feel on me, but that is all that happened."
"You never did it to her?"
"God, no!" he shouted excitedly. "Thinking about it wanted to make me puke."
I gave him a puzzled look. "I'm confused. Why did you date her then? I thought you two were in love."
"Stacy was in love," he replied. "I just went along with it because I didn't want people to think I was gay."
I asked, "But why Stacy? You could have had any girl."
He thought a minute before replying. "I was in the library after school one day," he said. "I heard Stacy and Maggie at the next table talking about sex. Maggie told Stacy she should find a boyfriend and get laid."
"Maggie's a slut," I said.
"I know," he replied. "She tried to get me to fuck her in the eighth grade. Anyway, Stacy kept telling Maggie that she was going to wait until she got married. She said she had made a promise to your mother."
I laughed and said, "Well, yeah. She made me promise too, but that didn't work out."
"I know," he giggled as he pressed on his limp dick. "I'm glad you didn't keep the promise." I watched as it began to harden. "So anyway, I thought that Stacy is the kind of girl I need. She wouldn't be pressuring me to have sex. I knew I would have to kiss and make out with her, but I was willing to do that if I didn't have to have sex."
"Eww," I said as I scrunched my face. "That's sick having to kiss my sister."
He laughed and replied, "Tell me about it." He then acted like he was going to puke.
I asked, "Then why were you going to have sex with her that night?"
He looked at me and asked, "Honestly?" I nodded my head. "I was jealous as shit about you. When I saw you in the pool with Blake at Roni's house, I knew you guys were fucking each other."
"But we weren't," I replied.
"I know that now," he said, "But I didn't then. I wanted to make you jealous. Stacy had been hinting around for a while that maybe we should try something. She said she was willing to break her promise to your mother. So, I wanted to make you jealous. I really wanted to hurt you. I waited until I thought you may be returning home, and then I came on heavy to Stacy. She surprised me when she said she wanted to do it."
"She wanted to brag to Maggie," I said.
He replied, "She probably did. So anyway, we got naked and all. And then you came home and saw us. Man, I thought I had timed it perfectly. I was hoping that you would really be jealous."
"I was," I confessed. "I thought about coming back home and stopping you."
He laughed and said, "I wish you had. When I slipped that condom on, I got soft as hell. I couldn't do nothing to get Junior hard."
"Junior?" I laughed. "You call your dick Junior?"
"Naw," he giggled. "I just said that. Stacy even tried to suck me, and it didn't get hard."
"Eww," I laughed. "Brain bleach."
"Really," he giggled. "I don't think I've ever been so embarrassed in my life. I told Stacy I had jerked off two times before coming over thinking about having sex with her. She was flattered and believed me."
"Sounds like Stacy." I smiled and said, "So, you were jealous?"
"You have no idea," he replied.
I gave him a puzzled look. "Blake and I weren't doing anything then. Actually, we didn't do anything until that day in the warehouse with you. It didn't bother you then." I laughed and added, "In fact, you seem to really enjoy it."
"I gave it a lot of thought," he replied. "We're only sixteen. We have a lot of living to do. And living means exploring. We can't do that if we're tied down to one person. I know that I can love two..." He wiggled his eyebrows, "Or three guys. It doesn't have to be just one person. That way, there is no jealousy as long as everyone is alright with it."
I thought about it, and what Craig is saying makes sense. I fell in love with Craig. However, when I met Blake, I fell for him too. It was creating a lot of chaos. When the three of us had sex together, things seemed to fall into place. I didn't feel any jealousy. I love both of them equally. I don't know if it works for everyone, but it sure works for three horny boys.
Craig said he was tired, and he lay back on the bed. Minutes later, he lay spooned into my body snoring lightly. I thought of Ty, and I felt guilty because I still had strong feelings for Craig. The last thing I thought about before falling asleep was, `I wonder if it will work for four people?'
