Author's note: This new story takes place in a world that already exists in a famous book series called the mortal instruments. Some of the people are mine creation but the world and some names belong to the author of the books. This is my twist to this supernatural world as I am giving a shot at a supernatural setting. I will finish Sam's story when I can but I wanted to try something new depending on how well this first chapter goes that will determine to continue for a part two please comment and rate thank you :)
"You see I don't really want to work out to much cause..."
Parker Reed drowned out the words of the arrogant football jock Caleb, who was ranting on about how big he wants to get but not to big to look like a freak. At school he's the all star of the team but to Parker he is all muscle and no brain.
He knew that the meat head jock was into him but he never really tried anything with him cause there wasn't much to get to know about him, as Parker knew time and time again he was all muscle no brain. All the jock cared about was working out and talking about how much he works out and sex too.
All the girls and gay guys knew he was hung as a horse and Bi, Parker had a look at it once in the showers he even jacked off to the memory of it. However, sex was the last thing on his mind when it came to relationships it would be a bonus for him but in reality Parker never had a boyfriend or sex and his best friend Victoria made it her mission to get him laid and a boyfriend that's why she arranged this "Get together" with friends.
Nodding and doing his best to seem interested in what Caleb was talking about he felt his biceps to make it look like it was cool from his workout routine. Thought Parker in some part didn't mind feeling his muscles.
After sometime Parker excused himself grabbing his coat and stepped outside. The cold wind bit at the exposed parts of his skin as he pulled the coat tighter around his body. Not a moment later the cafe doorbell rang Victoria coming up behind.
"Hey you okay babe?" She asked. Looking over at her he gave her a annoyed look.
"Oh that bad?" She replied.
"Come on Vic, you know he's just a muscle head and no brains. Not to be mean but the only thing he has talked about is his body the only reason any girls actually date him is either to be on top of the social ladder or to be fucked by him" He said a bit harshly.
"Look i understand that you are mad but..." He wasn't mad until she said that. He cut her off.
"No...I love you so much but babe this is my life and if I don't want to date or have sex then i don't want too! I would love to have a man but it will be on my terms and not you match making me!" He roared.
Shrinking back loosing her poise he took a deep breath.
"I just need some air" With that he he turned on his heels and walked down the sidewalk.
.......
It was only six and the sun had already gone down. That was one of the things he hated about winter but New York was amazing at night with all the Christmas decor on the trees on the side walk. Parker often went to look at decorations cause it was the only thing that really calmed him down when angry. Walking down a few blocks he came to Rockefeller center.
Walking to the edge of the skating rink he looked at all the happy couples. Parker actually thought of the alternative way of maybe dating Caleb just so he can have what these people have but then again he knew it be fake. Leaving back to the cafe he bumped right into another person nearly knocking them both to the ground.
Managing to stay on his feet as he turned to face the person he bumped into. Parker's throat tighten as he gazed up at the man.
He stood tall standing at six foot four tall. His dark blond hair that hung just pasted his brow, his eyes were a dark blue. Bluer then anything he ever seen in his life. He wore a black coat with under armor too. Weird shape tattoos lines along the thick muscled neck leading up to his well scruff square jaw line.
Managing to gather his senses Parker spoke. "I am so sorry...I wasn't watching where I was go..."
"You can see me?" He says. Cutting him off. a tone of surprise in his voice.
Confused Parker spoke again. "What? What do you mean?"
The person straighten up and spoke with more confidence. "You can see me" He said as more of a comment then a question.
"Yeah...I can..."
"Do you have the sight? Are you fiery born? What are you?" He asked. His eyes narrowing down at him.
Feeling uneasy he took a step back slowly. "Look, I am sorry for running into you i have to go." Parker started retreating a bit fast as he turned on his heels and head back to the cafe. Looking back once more over shoulder the boy was gone his eyes scanned the immediate area to find him but he was no where to be found.
After finding Victoria they quickly made up and he explained his weird encounter with the guy at the rink.
"He sounds hot as fuck" Is all she said.
"Get your mind out of the gutter women, this is serious it felt weird it was like he was tripping on something." Parker exclaimed.
"Well then give me what ever he is on" She joked chuckling.
Not getting anywhere with her they had coffee and mingled with the group before heading home.
Upon arriving at his house Parker looked up seeing the third floor windows were dark. His mom wasn't home yet. Walking up the steps reaching into his pocket he fished out his keys.
"So this is where you live" A deep husky voiced calls from behind him. Startled he dropped his keys.
"Jesus" Turning around Parker's eyes widen in surprise. It was the guy he ran into at the rink. Leaning against one of the cars he smiled up at Parker his hands buried in his pockets.
"No, I am not him but he is cousins with the angels that much I know" He chucked.
"What the hell are you doing here? Did you follow me here?" He gawked at him.
"That is correct. You see I had to make sure you weren't a fiery or vampire gone rouge but that was off the table given how you retreated with your mundane like speed however, that leaves the only option that you have sight which would be a rare find. Their hasn't been a human with sight in over a hundred years."
Feeling anger build up in him Parker lashed out. "STOP!" He shouted. "I have no idea what the fuck you are talking about okay?! Mundane, Vampire, Fiery, you sound like a crazy person! Look you need to leave or I will call the police." He says.
"And tell them what? They won't be able to see me" He says smoothly as if what Parker said had no effect on him.
"Look you can be dangerous and you may not know it their hasn't been a human with the sight in over a century and we don't want you to expose are world." The smile gone and he got suddenly serious.
"Your world? Look dude you are freaking me out so please just leave me alone. Please" Parker pleaded.
The boy took a deep breath. "I can see you don't believe me but here." Producing a pen and a piece of paper he wrote something down and folded it holding it out to Parker. For some reason he was reluctant to take it. It should have been easy for him to easily turn away and go inside but when he looked up and locked eyes with him the world seem to fade his fear of him being a stalker fades. His fury faded. His gut was telling him that he was telling the truth but didn't want to believe it.
Parker sighed and looked down taking the paper from him and putting it in his pocket. The boy smiled kindly and nodded. "Thank you" He turns around walking down the sidewalk.
"What is your name?" Parker called out. Surprised by the sudden outburst.
The boy chuckled. "It's Jonathan Whitecloud" He said not turning back and continued to walk away.
.......
When Saturday finally came after a long week he felt so nervous. Quickly changing into his black jeans and boots he pocketed pepper spray just in case grabbing his coat and headed out the door.
Grabbing a cab it only took Parker twenty minutes to reach the address that was written the driver looked at him crazy when they arrived at a run down building that had a sign saying "Condemned". Handing him the fare He hopped out of the car standing in front of the building. Walking up the the rusty gate he opened it and walking forward hearing the gravel crunch under his feet. Looking up the air begin to shimmer as if a veil was dropped.
Sky high spires took form, the dull gleam of the leaded windows, the stone was fine quality. Looking down in front of him stood Jonathan. Leaned against the large oak door he work a dark blue V neck that showed off his muscled chest a pair of blue jeans and had no shoes stood barefoot. His arms were marked with black tattoos like the ones on his neck except each on was different.
"I know I am a fine view but the institute is much better view as well" He gloats. "I was right about you having the sight otherwise you wouldn't have been able to see through the glamour"
Blushing, Parker walked forward up the stone steps. "This is impossible" He says his eyes scanning the beautiful work of the building. "How come no one can see it?" He asked.
"Its protected by a glamour, only those of the Shadow world can see past it and since you have the sight that's how you were able to see me, but I mean it's a shame the mundanes miss out on all of this" He says with a cocky smirk.
Rolling his eyes he stood nervously.
"I guess I better show you inside." Opening the large oak door Parker followed. They walked up the winding stone steps in silence Parker notices markings on the steps they looked as if they were made from a language not known to man.
"Those are runes" Parker head snapped up, Jonathan looked back at him. "They help keep the institute protected"
"Are those what they are too there on your arms"
He nodded. "Yeah, we get these when we are old enough some stay forever others fade when they are used up they give us special abilities so we can fight better."
"So what? Are you some ancient warrior of earth or something?" Parker asks.
"In some way yeah. We protect the world from demons and rouge downworlders on you TV sets when someone goes missing or killed a lot of the time it's a demon or downworlder and we go out and kill them before they can harm or kill anyone else." He says weary.
They reach the top of the steps pressing a button opening the elevator stepping inside the rose up in silence once again. The elevator stops with a grinding stop. The doors opened and he stepped out with Jonathan, Parker was astonished by the beauty of the crafted ceiling and walls. Not even the Popes place matched this beauty. Following Jonathan down the hall way they cam to two large doors holding it open for him.
"This is the library" He says.
And some library it was. It was a large circular room that stood tall the walls were lined with books. Old leather and velvet covered books. The ground was polished hardwood floor. In the center of the room was a large wooden Oak desk that was gloriously cut and carved, behind was a large fire place with a fire roaring inside. Beside it stood two people a golden fair haired man and a beautiful red head women, the sound of the door closing was loud and they grabbed their attention. Smiling they both walked forward.
"You brought the sight person good good." The golden hair man said offering his hand. "I'm Jonathan Wayland and this is my fiance Clary Fairchild." I shake his and her hand.
"This must be very confusing huh?" Clary says Sympathetic.
"I think that is an understatement" Parker chuckles.
She smiles kindly to him. "Well, trust me I know the feeling all to well" She laughed. "But I think it's time to introduce you to this world a bit"
......
"This is the residential wing of the institute this place can house several people at once but not many come these days." Jonathan gestures to the bed stripped empty rooms that we pass. Turning the corner we come to another door. "And this is my room." He turns the knob and opens the door.
His room was a decent size. A queen size bed was against the back wall. A small drawer next to the bed. On the walls hung several swords and blades of all shapes and sizes but above his bed was sleek black bow with three long black arrows hung neatly.
"Why so many weapons?" Parker asks shocked wondering if he had some kink to sharp things.
He shrugged. "It's good to be prepared but I like to collect old weapons used years ago"
Sitting on his bed Parker felt out of place the info he got from Clary and Jonathan who asked me to call him Jace before leaving was overwhelming. He didn't know this world existed and now he has a gift that allows him to see though glamours and possible shadow world creatures that he has yet to meet but deep down don't want to meet.
"Hey, look I know this is a lot but when i saw that you could see me I had no choice but to bring you here the last thing we need is for you to run into a fiery or vampire and they attack you cause you know to much"
"Then I'm already a target for people then?" Parker asked.
"No, not really but since their hasn't been a sight person in years you will have to talk to people higher up to us"
"You have higher ups?"
"Yeah they are like are government in a way"
Parker felt suddenly sick and exhausted. "Can you take me home please..."
"Yeah sure" He replies in kind.
........
Jonathan stuck to his word and escorted him back home. The walk was a bit long and silent, Jonathan for once didn't know what to say. Walking Parker up the steps the door. The two boys faced each other. Parker Looking up and smiles a bit.
"Thank you for the escort and Jonathan...this is a lot take in now that I know what is out there I am going to help figuring all this out"
"It's weird for me too, Clary and Jace want me to help you figure things out cause the faster you learn the better chance is for you to avoid the wrong things when you come across certain...people...at night or day" He says seriously. "But don't worry you got this" He smiles.
"Well, i should head inside thanks again walk back safely" Parker says.
"Always am" He says cocky giving him a crooked grin that made inner goodies jump with joy. Touching Parkers arm as he unlocked the door and headed into his building.
With his ability to hear the smallest sounds he waited until he heard the second door open and closed. Pulling out his stele he carved a rune into the side of the building one of Clary's design warding the building off anyone who wishes Parker Harm. Tucking it back into his coat he bound down the steps and headed back to the institute a small smile on his face....
To be continued...
