I walk down to the beach, again this morning. It's pretty much become a habit lately. I will wake up early, grab some food, talk to Dad for a bit and then make my way to the beach before it gets to crowded, and before the rest of the family wakes up. Don't get me wrong I love them all, they're awesome, but I just don't know. Being here with just the sand and the ocean, it helps clear my mind about all the mess well, my life that's a mess that I am trying to get sorted out.
I lay my towel out as always and sit with my arms folded around my knees. I haven't heard from Tanner, not since I told him I needed time, and to let me be. I have talked to Aaron, through a few emails. He and Maxx are just platonic friends. He says he loves him but knows Maxx only loves him as a friend as well. He also told me his moms are back in town and they want to talk to him about something, he didn't really know what it was.
"CHASEN! Bro, what's good?" I hear and next thing I know someone crashes right next to me.
I look over, its Braiden and he is looking really good as always, he is in board shorts and that's it. The water is still dripping off his skin and his hair is wet, he looks really good, "Hey Braiden."
"Dude you look like you lost your best friend. What's up man?" he asks nudging me.
"Nothing just thinking about things, what about you?" I ask squinting at him, because the sun is bright.
He flashes his perfect white teeth, "Was going to hit the waves, but I went swimming, kind of de-stresses me a bit, so what are you thinking about?" he asks.
I kind of shrug, "Everything, shit that went down in my old life and adjusting to life here and my siblings." I say trailing off.
'Jeez, don't cry Chasen! Don't cry in front of Braiden. I need to stop this shit, this is my new life I need to get with the program.' I think to myself while I watch him think over what I have said.
"Ah, that's right your Ryan Tarrant's brother huh?" he asks.
"Yeah, you know him?" I ask rather curious now, because Ryan is barely ever home.
"Yeah I know Ry. We kind of used to be good buds, but things changed after I quit the football team, and picked up a job. Shit kinda went down last year and he pretty much views me as dirt. Of course I wouldn't expect anything less from Mr. All Star quarterback." He says all seriously then laughs.
This intrigues me a lot, I want to know more so of course I ask, "What happened to make you quit the team? And for Ryan to hate you now? Don't worry I barely know him, and he kind of doesn't go out of his way to get to know me." I tell him.
He gives me another grin, "Well if I told you everything already, you would lose interest and not want to talk to me so much."
I laugh at him, "What makes you think I want to talk to you anyways?"
"Because, I am betting that I am the only person you know here, not including family." He says I seen that his bright hazel eyes have more of a greenish tint in them today.
I start to smile, "Ok, you win on that one." I tell him.
He smiles, "Awesome, so bro there's this party here at the beach tonight, you need to come, I kind introduce you to some of my friends." He tells me getting excited.
I get a uneasy look on my face, "I don't know man, last party wasn't great for me." I tell him.
He looks a little hurt, "Dude come on, I don't get to get out much, and I think it would do some good for you, let you escape that shit that's floating around inside your head. Plus I will be here what ever happened at the last part you went to wont happen here I promise."
I smile, "Well I hope not, I guess my ex won't be here to cheat on me. What time?"
"Awesome bro, six-thirty, I will come by your house and walk with you here." He tells me.
"You know where I live?" I ask kind of shocked.
He laughs hard, "bro, everyone knows where the Tarrant's live. Well I got to jet bro. I will see you later." He tells me bumping fists with me and leaving.
I get all excited, I know it's not a date, but still he thinks I am cool too hang out with, hell I might make a few friends finally. Shit I need to go talk to Lexie, see what to wear top a party. I am sure Ms. Fashion Queen will know exactly what to have me wear.
I walk into the house, and Kyle is at the table eating some food, "Hey lil bro." I say passing by him.
"Hey." I hear him mumble.
I guess he is still asleep. I make my way up to Lexie's room, and I knock on the door.
"Come in!" I hear her yell.
I come in the door, and as always she texting on her phone. "What's up?" she asks without looking up.
"Who do you talk to all the time?" I ask
"Everyone! Jeez you will understand once you make friends." Whatcha need?" she asks putting down her phone.
"I've been invited to a party tonight." I say casual.
"The beach party?" she asks perking up.
"Yeah, how did you know?" I ask.
"Chasen, I know everything that goes on! I have people everywhere. So who asked you big bro?" she asks getting up, "Come on we need to find you something to wear!"
"That's what I was coming to ask you for help on, let's go to my room." I tell her.
We walk down the hall to my room, now that it's all set up it looks like I've been here for years, I actually like it a lot! "Braiden invited me to the beach party." I tell her.
"OH MY GOD! Braiden Walker? He is so hot!" she gushes out.
Laughing, I sit in a chair while she goes through my closet, "I know! I met him down at the beach" I tell her.
She throws a plain white shirt at me, and red board shorts, "Wear these. It's a beach party you don't need to get all dressy, but this still makes you look good! Wear your sandals! My work is done, I have to go get ready I'm going with Katy to the mall!" she tells me and leaves my room.
I shake my head and laugh, I make my way back into the dining room where Kyle and dad are, "Hey guys!" I say and sit next to dad.
"Hey Chasen you seem really happy?" Dad says looking at me and smiling.
"Yeah, just decided I am going to make the best of the situation that life has given me, it's pretty much all I want. To be around family and to meet people and just be happy." I say smiling.
"Well Darling that sounds amazing!" Caroline says coming into the dining room. She bends and hugs Kyle and makes her way over to me and hugs me, and then finally dad.
I watch them kiss, and it doesn't make me mad, I smile, cause I know they are happy and Caroline makes my dad happy, more than what my mother could have done.
"Hey Caroline." I say smiling.
"Hey baby, how are you adjusting? Well I hope!" she says as she walks into the kitchen and gets a bagel.
"So dad, I was wondering if it would be ok if I went to a party tonight?" I ask looking over at him.
He looks at me then at Caroline, "Well, where is it going to be and who do you know that's going?"
I laugh, "I made a friend down at the beach, Braiden Walker. That and the party is at the beach."
I see him thinking it over, Caroline comes and sits next to me, "I say yes it will do you good to get out of this house and make some friends dear." She says smiling.
"I agree too, but Chasen just please be careful. I don't want anything to happen to you." Dad says smiling at me.
Kyle kind of just looks at me, with disappointment in his eyes, "Well I'm going to go over to Sam's then later since everyone is busy all the time." And he stalks off.
I look between Caroline, and dad. "Did I do something to upset him?"
"No son, Kyle...well he's just having a tough time he is the middle child. He always tries to be included in everything but he isn't that much of a social person like Ry, or Lexie are." Dad says looking at me.
"Someone say my name?" Ryan announces as he enters the dining room and taking a seat. "Where is Jane at, I am starving."
"Ryan Eric Tarrant, get your lazy butt up and go fix yourself something to eat, you know we give Jane every other Friday off, it doesn't hurt you to do something for yourself!" Caroline snaps at him.
"Whatever, if anyone cares, I am going to a beach party with Jason, Jeremy, and probably meet my girlfriend there." He says stretching.
It is still so weird to see how much me and him look alike, "I'm goin to." I say looking over at him.
"Who are you going with?" he asks looking at me weirdly.
"Braiden." I tell him
"Wow, good choice in friends there...he's such a loser, man I wouldn't hang with him if I were you." He says and gets up and leaves the table.
I am pissed by now, "Does he always have a screwed up attitude?" I ask to no one in particular.
Both Caroline and my dad chime in, "We are working on it, he has a rude awakening coming this summer!" they both look at each other and smile.
"Son, we are going out, we try to every other Friday, here I'm going to give you some money in case you need it." My dad says handing me a fifty dollar bill.
"Dad I don't need money." I tell him trying to refuse the bill.
"I know, but you might want to go grab a bite to eat before you go out or something. Considerate it your allowance." He says.
Caroline just smiles, "Hun, it's no use arguing with him, that's what your father does for a living. Chasen would you mind going grocery shopping with me tomorrow, Jane left a list of things to pick up that she needs for this week's meals?"
"Yeah that would be cool." I tell her.
She smiles widely at me, "Its finally good to have one kid in this house that'll go to the store with me!"
Dad laughs, "You and I are going out on Sunday to do some bonding ok buddy?" he tells me.
I smile big at that, "sounds great dad!" I tell him.
I get up and make my way upstairs, I stop at Kyle's room and knock on the door.
"Go away Ryan, I don't have you headphones I already told you!" he shouts.
I open the door, "I believe you bro, but I'm not Ryan." I say smiling.
"Ooh hey." He says and looks down.
I walk over and sit on the bed with him, "Kyle what's wrong, why are you so sad?" I ask.
"You wouldn't understand dude." He tells me.
"Try me man, I think I would understand a lot more than you think." I tell him nudging him.
"It's just everyone is always so busy! They have no time to like just hang out with me or anything! Even you are getting busy already and you just moved here. Ryan used to be so cool to me now he's just a dick!"
I kinda laugh at that, "Well man I'm not like that, dude you can always come chill with me! Heck you remind me of a friend I had back in Florida, except he was a lot more crazier." I say and smile at him.
"Really? Cool, but I gotta get ready. I'm going to Sam's, he's my best friend. Mom and dad are going to give me a ride. I will see you later!
I walk back in to the hall, I check my phone, it's almost five forty five, damn it. I run to my room and get dressed. I come back downstairs and I hear the door bell ring.
I round the corner and see my dad and Braiden talking, "hey dude!" he says smiling at me.
"Hey, ready to go?" I ask.
He nods, I look back at my dad, "Well I am going to get goin dad."
"Ok son, have fun and be safe call if you need anything. Braiden, watch my boy ok?" My dad said.
"No problem sir." He says and gives his smile.
We start to walk to the beach, "You know my dad?" I ask looking at him. He is wearing a wife beater, with green board shorts and sandals.
"Yeah, he and my dad play golf together and he kind of helped me out last year..." he says trailing off.
"What you do get arrested by the police for drinking, getting high?" I ask playfully.
"Not hardly...I kind of didn't want to tell you just yet, because we are actually getting off to a good friendship...but I have a kid dude..." he says looking away.
I laugh, "A kid, yeah right and I am going to meet my soul mate tonight!"
"No dude for real, your dad helped win my case for custody last year...My ex girlfriend didn't want the baby, she was going to let her parents have custody, but well its mine too. I didn't want to lose him. So your dad helped out." He tells me looking serious.
"Wow, you aren't joking are you?" I ask.
"No man, that's why I jet off so much when at the beach, my mom lets me get out for a few hours, but he is mine, and well my responsibility." He tells me kicking a rock.
"You keep saying "he", does he have a name?" I smile at him.
He looks at me surprised, "Yeah Ian Ashton Walker."
"How old are you man?" I ask.
"I am sixteen, making Ian almost a year old, yeah I know I was fifteen when, Riley, the mother, was seventeen we were at a party I drank too much and well yeah nine months later Ian was born." He says.
"Damn dude, is that why you and Ryan don't get along?" I ask.
"Not really, it's because I quit the football team to get a part time job at the local grocery store, and well Ryan is all about status...being a teenage dad doesn't do so well for rep." he smiles, "but I manage, I have friends and well I have Ian."
"Wow man, must be hard..." I say.
"Don't get me wrong it is, but dude when I get home from work or school, and he smiles at me, I know I chose right." He says smiling, "Dude, let's go grab a couple of drinks and I will introduce you to some of my friends."
We get down to the beach, and it's amazing. Kristy's party had nothing on this one, I haven't seen an area packed with teens like this ever! There is a fire and teens are sitting around it, drinking and chilling. Couples are cuddled together, kind of makes my stomach drop.
I spot my brother Ryan over with some of his friends, he is drinking and hanging all over some chick who must be his girl. I snap back to attention when Braiden comes bounding up with a girl, and two other guys.
"Dude this is my best friend Kasey, and these two fools are Alex, and Clay." He introduces them.
We find a spot on the beach, Clay and Alex mainly keep to themselves. Kasey and I take a liking to each other. She is just really cool and laid back, she's a slim brunette with nice green eyes. Clay, Alex and Kasey are in really great shape, I think most of the people I've seen are.
"So you're the boy Braiden keeps talking about?" Kasey says taking a drink from her beer.
"I guess I am?" I say taking a drink as well.
She laughs we talk for awhile, as Braiden chills with Alex and Clay, "So your gay right?" she asks out of nowhere and causes me to almost spit my beer out.
"I...I...how did you know?" I ask sheepishly.
"Oh come on, here I am and you haven't once tried to hit on me. That and you keep looking over at Bray." She says smiling.
"Damn you noticed huh?" I ask.
"Have you told him?" she asks.
"No not yet...I'm scared he won't be my friend." I tell her.
"I don't think you have anything to worry about with him being like that, Bray loves everyone. That and he isn't picky when it comes to friends. We have stuck with him through the hell he went through to fight for Ian. Hell when all the others left, I stayed not just to help him take care of Ian when he was a new born but because he has always been there to support me no matter what I did." She tells me scooting closer so I can hear her better.
"Are yall like a couple?" I ask.
"Ooh my god no! Bray is like a little brother to me, I love him but I could never date him, he hasn't been with anyone since Riley, but he never really dated anyways." She says.
We sit and gossip for awhile, Braiden drops in on the conversation off and on, mostly to restock our drinks; by the forth one I am really feeling it! I feel very tipsy, hell maybe even drunk. We have a few more and I know I'm way pass drunk, I can feel myself laughing at every silly thing. I keep looking over at Braiden, and he has a bottle of water.
Braiden joins us again after Alex and Clay leave. I notice he isn't drinking like me and Kasey, "You ok Chasen?" he asks.
I give a huge grin and try to stand up, "I'm Super!" I say and he catches me before I fall.
"Dude your totally drunk." He tells me laughing.
"Nah man, ok well maybe a little." I slur and lean on him.
"Kasey, are you drunk?" he asks.
"Kinda ...slightly... yea hun." She replies.
"well I had just one when we first got here but that was a while ago, so I am good to drive and I've been drinking water, can I drive you home? Since we live right next door to each other?"
"Yeah hun." She says handing him the keys.
He helps me up the beach, "Chasen, I am going to call your dad ok? I am going to have you stay the night at my house, I don't want to take you home drunk."
I laugh, "Oh yay, take me to your casa!" and I burst out laughing.
He laughs and helps me to the car, "dude, are you going to be ok until I can get the door open and help you in the car?"
"Wait! I can't go to your house!" I say.
"Why not dude?" he asks looking offended.
"Cause Braiden I am GAY! A silly homo! You don't want to be around me! Tanner didn't even want me he cheated on me with a slut girl whore!" I scream and slide down the side of the car, I start to cry.
He runs back to me and helps stand me up against the car, "So what if your gay, I'm right handed, so what. Let's just get you to my place then to bed ok?" he says as he helps me into the car. My eyes keep drooping, I hear him and Kasey get in.
I hear him on the phone to my dad, wait he has my phone. How did he get my phone it was in my pocket.
"Mr. Tarrant, hey Chasen is going to stay at my house ok? Yes sir...Yes sir. He is a little drunk but he's fine, yes sir, no sir I had one beer and after that I started to drink water. Yes sir. I just didn't want to bring him home drunk." I hear only his side of the conversation...
I don't remember much after that, I remember him helping me out of the car and him fighting to get my shoes off but that's pretty much all I remember...
Oh my god, my head feels like a bomb went off inside of it, it hurts so bad it's like a pounding of a drum that just doesn't know when to stop, as I wake up everything is fuzzy. I don't recognize this room! Where the hell am I? Whose bed is this?
I was taken aback, there's a little hand on my face. I realize that's what must have woken me up.
I shift slowly and look to my left and I see this little guy. He takes his hand away and makes a sound I can't completely understand, almost like a giggling sound. A huge smile is plastered on his cute baby face. I hear a sound from the door way and I look and see Braiden standing there.
Then everything comes rushing back into my head hitting me harder than my bloody headache, He is standing there as his son touches my hair...oh god I told him I was gay! Shit I am in his bed with his son right next to me, wait he brought me here, but I'm in just my boxers, did he undress me?
He hasn't came rushing in, I sit there watching Ian, and out of the corner of my eye, him. I also check out his physique, his biceps are developed but he's no hulk. They are just right for his slim frame, his pecks are firm I can tell, his six pack is just so sexy that I can't believe I am still in the bed. He has a hairless chest and stomach, though he does have a little trail of hair very lightly running from his naval to his boxers.
"He wanted to wake you" he says looking over at me.
I groan, "I have the biggest headache in the world right now."
He laughs, "I put a glass of water and some aspirin on the table next to you." He says nudging his head towards the table.
I lean over and pop the pills into my mouth and I down the whole glass of water, I didn't realize I was so thirsty. "I am never drinking again! Ever!" I tell him laughing.
He smiles, "You seemed like you had a good time though?"
"I did, Kasey is awesome. Alex and Clay are too though they didn't talk much to me." I tell him.
He laughs, "yeah that's just them though they are weird like that but they will come around once they get to know you."
I look at Ian, "Does he ever wake you up like this?" I ask, Braiden comes and sits on the beside me on the bed.
"Yeah, mom normally helps him up." he says.
"I'd quit the football team too to wake up to such a beautiful little guy every morning." I tell him. I sit up a bit and position my hands under Ian's armpits, and lift him on top of me, "Bounce him, he loves it." He tells me.
I look down at the little guy in my hands, he is precious he has light blonde hair, his eyes make me feel like I'm looking into the vast garden, he is cute, looks just like his daddy. I bounce him on my lap like Braiden suggests and Ian makes more of the giggling noises and I see Braiden smiling too.
"Not so hard is it?" he says smiling.
I just smile, "no not at all. What time is it?"
"Seven-thirty, in the morning." He says laughing at my expression.
"It's so early! Why are you up?" I ask.
"Ian is the morning person, I usually get up at this time every day." He smiles over at me.
I smile back, but questions are pressing me, "I hope I didn't do anything embarrassing last night..." I say looking down at my bare chest and all.
He laughs and leans back against his head board, "No man you didn't, but I did undress you to make you comfortable in the bed. I don't know about you but I can't sleep in a shirt or shorts."
He moves this long body pillow in between us I guess he doesn't want me crossing the line I guess, "Here put Ian on it, it's made for that to support him." He says gesturing to the softness of the body pillow.
Wow I feel dumb, I light place Ian down and he lays right on it. I smile back at Braiden who is looking at me intently.
"What?" I ask getting self conscious.
"Nothing, just I never saw anyone else handle Ian like that so carefully, as I would." And he gives me a smile that I sort of am falling in love with.
He reaches over and touches my chest outlining a small scar, "What are these? I noticed them all over your body last night as I was putting you in bed"
I wince at the memory a little bit, and he removes his hand fast, "No its fine. Just they're a part of some painful memories that I just don't like to talk about..." I say looking at him.
He traces another scar on my side, that was made from the belt buckle hitting me over and over, "Who could do this to you?" he asks in a low voice.
I look back at him trying to fight back tears, "My mother did this to me...a lot have healed over time and some haven't."
He takes his hand off me, "How could she do that to you?"
"Cause she hated me, and she blamed me for all her drinking problems and for my dad leaving her." I say looking at him.
He reaches up and touches a small scar by my lip, "how did that one happen?" he asks looking intently at me.
I felt a surge of electricity run through me as he touched part of my lip, "My ex boyfriend hit me after I hit him, I found him cheating on me with a girl." I laugh thinking of the explanation I gave him.
He smiles, and laughs too, "I don't know who would ever cheat on you, you're like perfect..." he trails off. His hand still touching my chest. "you're a very different person Chasen."
We look at each other intently, then we hear a little sound and the moment is broken off as we both turn our eyes to Ian who is smiling at us.
I look down and he has the lightest green eyes I have ever seen, they are beautiful, "Whose eyes does he have?" I ask looking back up at Braiden.
"Riley's..." he says
"Where is she?" I ask not really wanting to ask but I did.
"She left, went to live with her aunts in New York, didn't want anything to do with the baby after she had it. Her parents tried to get custody, but that's when we fought back, the only reason we probably won was because of your dad." He tells me.
"Why did you sleep with her?" I mentally curse myself for asking him that.
He looks amused, "I was stupid and fifteen, I was drunk at a party, she was older more experienced and for some reason she wanted me. I really didn't want to have sex with her, I didn't like her like that at all. Hell I never even had sex before. But your brother Ryan and I were tight back then. Well the whole gang was pushing me to do it and I did...the condom broke, I never knew until a month later..."
"That sucks..." I say trying not to laugh because well it sucks.
He laughs back, "you have no idea, man I have never even been out on a date with anyone and the first time I have sex, I have a kid! Hell I didn't even enjoy having sex with her, but I'm glad it happened, because well I got this guy and it's made me a better person."
I smile back at him, my phone rings and its Caroline.
"Hello." I answer.
"Hey honey, are you cancelling on going to the store with me?" she asks.
"No, I wouldn't do that." I tell her smiling.
We chat for a minute more and I hang up, looking at Braiden, "Step-mom, we are supposed to go to the store, she said in about hour and a half."
He smiles, "it's cool I have to be at work in an hour anyways."
"Let me take Ian to my mom and I will come back down and then I will take you home ok?" he says.
I nod and watch him walk out with his little boy, I start to get dressed, thinking of the feeling of intimacy I felt was in the air, "I can't start falling for him he has a kid, and he isn't even gay...but how he touched me and the longing in his eyes said so much different. I know I still love Tanner, but I am not in love with him. I don't want to rush into something after that mess I just left. But I know I am going to have to talk to him, I guess I will tomorrow after dad and I are back from wherever we are going, I have to talk to him, to get this over with. I love him, he saved me from a lot, but he also betrayed me and I can't forget that, but I can forgive him. I just don't think I can ever fully be with him and trust him again." I mentally talk to myself, great now all I have to do is answer myself to be completely crazy I think.
I look up, and Braiden is sitting there laughing at me, "What?" I ask.
"Your face, it looks like you were having an argument with yourself, it was cute to watch it. You ready?" he asks throwing on a shirt. ------------------------------------------------------------------
We pull up to my house faster than I would have like, "Thanks for everything Braiden." I tell him looking back at him.
He smiles, "No thank you, it's been awhile since I could just feel comfortable with someone. Maybe next week would you want to go catch a movie or something?"
"Yeah. Sounds good, but what about Ian?" I ask.
"He will be with his grandparents; I agreed to let them have visitation rights, I didn't want to be a asshole and tell them they could never see their grandson, because well I could imagine how I'd feel if I didn't get to see him." He says.
"Do yall get along?" I ask starting to get out.
"We do now, at first no, they didn't think I was going to be a good dad for Ian, they wanted to fight me for Ian again and again, but now they help me out however they can. I guess, I will see you later?" he says smiling at me.
I smile back and close the door, I am met half way up the sidewalk by Caroline, "let's go dear!"
"Do I need to change?" I ask.
She shakes her head no, "we are going to go grab a bite to eat, and then head to the store sound good?"
I laugh, "yeah its awesome." I say turning around and Braiden is still there I smile at him and give a wave, he waves back and pulls out.
I walk with Caroline to the car; I have the best feeling in the world. I was scared to move here, but I know now it's all going to be ok. I am going to really love this place. I have a friend that I can put faith in. ------------------------------------------------------------------
Well that is ch. 2, hopefully you all have enjoyed it! I wrote this one in a day, it just fell in place. Please keep an open mind, I know I am I have really good feeling about this chapter. So any thoughts on what's going to happen? Also closure will come for Tanner and Chasen in ch 3. They will talk and what happens, we will have to see. I can say up front things won't click and be like oh I'm still in love with you lets be together forever that's not the world today, they could be friends we just have to wait and see. What are your thoughts on Braiden?
Another note on the Aaron story, it's still in progress I have changed the name on it again, but it will be out I don't know when its well taking awhile, I really don't know how to approach it, but there is a hint of what is going on in Aaron's life at the beginning of this story.
As always comments are welcome I enjoy hearing from everyone!
tY: I didn't notice until after KD posted the last chapter that my comment was horribly done. I put all my energy into KD's I forgot about mine lol :P jk (dont hurt me KD) (KD: you ass is so grass beaver boy :D)
as least you get comments KD, this poor sad newly four eyed Canadian doesn't get any (pout) lol. I just got prescribed glasses :( oh I forgot to add a eh! Again a great chapter, especially coming from someone that's on the hope wagon for Tanner and Chase. Braiden does seem like a really nice guy, someone worth knowing. A friend that Chase needs, we can only walk alone so far in live. Friends are one of life's many gifts.
I can see Chase being a part of the little guys life, almost like a second daddy, Chase just seems like the giving type. I wonder what wacky adventures KD will come up with for the three. Will Braiden become more than a love interest for Chase it's hard to say, but right now he's the best thing for Chase and that's just a caring friend. I guess we'll just have to sit tight and wait for KD to finish the next chapter, till next time.
