Same as Last Time, what can I say, I'm not that original I guess.
PS: For all of you looking for porn written out, wait a while, I write stories not scripts for Falcon! The sex will come (pun not intended there :P), but wait, the story has to evolve to that point first.
"Well, remind your partner that this class is not to be taken lightly, this is an AP course worth college credit, I will not have any daydreaming going on in here! If so, you can go right down to GT Chemistry. Catch my drift, Mr. Parker; your partner is looking at something again!" Mrs. Walker then walked over to the lab table, as she did this, I kicked Tommy really hard in his leg, why the hell was he looking at me still? "Thomas Cleason! Pay attention to me while I am speaking to you, it behooves you to do as I say, do you understand me young man?"
"Umm, yes ma'am. I understand you."
"Good grief, this year is going to be a long year alright class I'm going to assign you each a textbook and lab journal." Mrs. Walker continued to blab as I started to question Tommy.
"Hey dude, what the hell is up with you today, science is your best subject, the one you are most interested in, and your looking at the frigging wall or window or something," I got in before Tommy interrupted me, "Alex, I was looking at you"
"What?"
"Don't be coy with me Alex, I know you aren't a moron, you know why I was staring at you, you're an asshole to me for almost a year, and then you come on to me?"
"Mr. Cleason and Mr. Parker, is there something you would like to share with the rest of the class? I mean, honestly, I know it is your first day back, but come on. I'm only going to give you some slack once, now I called you two up to receive your books and lab journals minutes ago. If you hold up the class anymore, I will keep you all after the bell until each one of you has the proper supplies needed for tomorrow's lab."
"Frick and Frack, just go up there to shut the chemistry Nazi up, ok!" Robert Lueng whispered. Now I was the dribbling idiot, I wasn't paying any attention to what was going on, I was still trying to figure out someway to respond to what Tommy had said to me earlier. Meanwhile Tommy had left to collect his book and lab journal.
"What is with the two of you, when one's brain is up and functioning, the other sits there like a frigging trauma patient! Alexander, get up here now!"
"Oh, I'm sorry Mrs. Walker!" I quickly went up there and retrieved my things, in a few minutes the bell had sounded, and we were free, or at least that is what I thought.
"Mr. Cleason and Mr. Parker, I would like you two to stay here for a minute, I'd like to have a word with you two." The frigging Chemistry Nazi, I mean Mrs. Walker ordered, and we stayed, "Toward the end of the period I looked at the two of your files, you two are excellent students, and your Biology teacher from last year, Mr. Almeda wrote down that the two of you were excellent lab partners as well. Now what is wrong with the two of you, your performance in my class today was unacceptable, especially for AP students! Are you two high or something because I got the feeling you weren't completely with us today!"
"No ma'am I think it was just hard for us to realize that the summer is over, that's all," I tried to defend us.
"I doubt that is the case, there is something wrong with the two of you today, I can feel it. Well, whatever it is, you will have it cleared up before tomorrow's lab; understand! Now, let me have a look at your schedules so I can write you a late pass to your next classes. You two are both in study hall, that's right this is a lab course, oh, it says here that each of you are auditing for choir, that poor woman. I hope Mrs. Weinstadt can deal with you both." Mrs. Walker went on and on.
"Can we have the passes now?" Tommy asked impatiently.
"Here you go, oh and boys, if there is something you ever need somebody to talk to about, I'm here for you, I'm only twenty-five; that's not all that much older than you two. Therefore, it hasn't been a long time since I've gone through what you are going through. Okay?" Mrs. Walker now officially freaked me out.
"Umm, sure, ok," Tommy and I both said at the same time, which resulted at more odd looks at each other. There were only two more minutes left of passing time, but the passes gave each of us four extra minutes beyond the two left to get down to choir.
"What the hell was that all about, huh?" I asked Tommy nonchalantly.
"Don't talk to me fag," I couldn't tell if he was playing like he did in old times, or if Tommy was being serious. He is hard to read, but he never was harsh, or used the words fag or faggot unless playfully, he was a sweet guy, not an asshole like most of my friends were.
"Do you need to go to your locker, I need to go to mine?" I ignored his previous comment and tried to change the conversation because I was weary about what kind of asshole I turned Tommy into by being one to him the second half of last year.
"Yeah, I do, I'll go with you, but let's hurry, I don't want to be too late to choir, especially if its because I'm in the hallway with you," Tommy voiced, I looked at his face. He was becoming increasingly harder to read emotionally. This was going to be hard, I knew it. Therefore wasting time in between classes was not going to work, if I was going to get to recuperate our relationship like Shruthi suggested I should, I'd have to do it some other time.
"Hey Tommy," I wearily started to ask before he cut in, "No call me Tom, don't call me Tommy anymore."
"Hey Tommy,"
"Oh my God!"
"Tommy, how are you getting home tonight, I know now that Katie is at college, and that you don't have a ride, you don't drive if I remember correctly."
"I'm going to take the bus home."
"Oh you don't have to, I'll drive you home before football practice."
"Why are you trying to be nice to me now, you humiliated me last year, and earlier today. Now you are like a different person. You came on to me like a drunken maniac in the beginning of science when you grabbed my thigh and started rubbing it. Now you want to drive me home? I know why you stopped being my friend last year Alex. It's because all your stupid popular jock friends told you I was gay. Now you are trying to seduce me, like some type of cruel brat pack movie evil jock plot sort of way!"
"Are you fucking serious? Do you think I am that cruel of an asshole? And anyway, who's calling you gay?"
"What do you take me for Alex? Seriously? Do you think I really am that stupid?"
"Tommy I told you before in the beginning of science. I thought about what you said before orientation in the hallways. I'm really sorry for being such a jerk to you, and I want to make it up to you."
"You're shitting me!"
"Let me see your id's you two. Ok. Are y'all alright? You two seem to be havin' a heated argument, and I jus' wa'ted to come over an see if everthan is hunky-dory. Besides you two, if you know what's best for you, you'll be headen to class okay?" some woman security guard came over to us.
"We're fine." Tommy said.
"Alright sugar, get along to class now, ya hear you two."
"Okitae" I answered.
"No Tommy, I'm serious as can be. I want to be friends with you, I miss...us."
"If you are for real, why is it that you just started to break away from me, why did you stop talking to me, I called your cell phone, and you always ignored it, I knew. Alex, why? Was it so that you could be cool, like what you did to Stephanie Garrison and Michelle Fink back in Memorial Parkway?"
"No I was already popular when I met you!" I joked, and he didn't seem as amused as I was.
"Listen, there are some things that are hard for me to say, but you will need to understand, so let me give you a ride home either before or after practice. If we go after football practice, I'll clean up and take you to Katy Mills Mall or Westoaks Plaza like old times. Or we could even go to Wal-Mart to get school supplies, hehe" I suggested.
"Alright then, I'll be in the school library reading those chapters for chemistry so we can do that darn lab tomorrow, stop by there after practice. Oh, and by the way, we go to the mall, Wal-Mart, so not cool."
"You wouldn't know cool if it hit you in the head!" I gently slapped Tommy on the back of his head. Things like that are what we always used to do to each other. I missed touching Tommy, oh how I loved him. I hope he takes the news I have to tell him later well. It will just kill me if he doesn't. I hate the fact that Shruthi was able to talk me into doing this again!
"Ha not funny Alex. You're not cool in my book."
"See, you wouldn't know cool if it hit you in the back of your head."
"Stop being so damn conceded. Loose some weight, and you turn into a meathead!"
"Sorry Tommy"
"Sorry? Wow three times in one day, Alex is this a new record?"
"If we weren't right in front of the choir room, I'd shove you into that art showcase!" I stuck my tongue out at him, (I do this a lot just so you know, I'm sixteen, but still very playful) and all Tommy did was let out a sigh.
"So my two top tenors, where have you been all this time? I was starting to worry that you dropped my class. You know how much I need the two of you in here! Stop fooling around and get in here, if I didn't love you two so much I'd be mad. Anywho, speaking of mad, what happened this summer? For the most part last year I remembered you two, well, just being unfriendly to one another." Mrs. Weinstadt queried.
"Nothing happened, he's still a jerk!" I playfully joked and pointed to Tommy. At this point he fake punched my back, he loved touching my lower back last year, yay, maybe things are looking better!
"The two of you are really odd, get up on the risers and start your warm-ups." Mrs. Weinstadt ordered. Choir class was grueling like always. Tommy and I even though we audit the class, are in the best choir here at Taylor High School. Our choir class is an AP class; we both don't take it because we are both in the AP band class as well. At the end of choir I asked Tommy to see his schedule, we have two more classes together and are in the same lunch. Last lunch, how fun, somehow having lunch at 1:00PM didn't sound like such fun, especially because I have gym right before it. Oh well, first day babble.
"Hey we have lunch together Alex." Tommy said as we compared schedules, "Are you going to sit with me?"
"Oh no, I knew this might come up, how was I going to tell him this," I thought.
"Tommy I have to sit with the football kids. It's not anything against you I swear. Don't take this the wrong way; our coach actually makes us sit together. I'm sorry Tommy. Honest." I hope that was convincing.
"Well, can I sit with you then?" he's going to kill me with these questions.
"Tommy, you don't want to sit with my teammates. They aren't really a great bunch of guys, if I wasn't on the team, I wouldn't sit there at all, and you can be sure as hell that once football season is over, I'll be out of the table. Tommy, they only like kids on the football team, or the cheerleaders. I'm sorry, please don't take this the wrong way. It's not by choice, I swear, I would much rather sit with you and your friends its just that Coach Albertson has lunch duty, and would just move me over to that table anyway." My heart was hurting as every word of utter bullshit ran from my mouth. I hate me.
"Why do you play football Alex? You aren't like them, you're smart, you're well sometimes nice (he lightly punched my shoulder), and you don't pick on people. Even when you were an ass and ignored me, you never made fun of me. Well other than that stupid name 'Girl scout', but that was you an Marissa Halper freshman year, and it was a joke. You just don't fit their mold, other than the fact that you are muscular and strong, you have nothing in common with the team. It's not like you ever walk with any teammates during school. Are you even friends with them?"
"Okay, well Tommy, I play football because I have to. If I didn't my parents wouldn't talk to me. Tommy, I'm a jock who sings opera at Rice University, and does theater. My parents only accept me after my other activities because I play football. Theater, singing, they are to 'help me concentrate'. That's what my parents say Tommy. They think culture, automatically makes me gay. Therefore I have to play football, run track, play lacrosse, Tom, it is for my parents. It's so that they can hold onto the thought that their kid is the all American boy. That's what they want, they don't want some acting, singing, performing kid who hates to go hunting or camping with relatives and friends. Tommy my parents are stereotypical rednecks. They were taken out of the honky-tonk and moved into rich suburban Houston, but the stupid damn honky-tonk was never taken out of them. I come from a very narrow and simpleminded family. I play sports, hang out with jocks, and act all tough because they want me to, and I don't know what they'd do if I didn't. You see Tommy; there is something different about me. I don't know how to tell you this one. I hope you will even understand, I'll tell you after school at the mall. C'mon let's go to English class. I heard Mr. Zadden is a nice guy. My older sister Jeanette had him in 2001." I practically poured out to Tommy as we walked to our last class together before lunch.
"Wow Alex, I don't know what to say." Tommy exclaimed.
"Don't, it's fine. You think I'm the only person like this. Why do you think I'm always in the guidance department? Hmm, ugh, forget about that last comment. Here, let's sit in the front, Mr. Zadden loves kids who participate, and this class is huge, I don't want to get lost and not called on in here." I said. Following these remarks, Tommy gave me odd looks, chemistry all over again. I could tell that this class was going to be fun. The rest of the school day was pretty boring; there was AP US History 2, gym, lunch, Spanish and Wind Ensemble. (Band) Wind Ensemble was the only class I had with Tommy, but that didn't bother me. Towards the end of the day I was realizing the perks of losing all the weight I did. What my friends said last year, take that beautiful face and put it on a new body, and you'd be perfect, in the eyes of my schoolmates, was true. I liked all this new attention; it was clouding my judgment, as I became a little hotheaded at points. Ugly duckling, I dunno, but coming into who I am, and getting all the compliments, I was in hog's heaven. Unfortunately after school came football practice. My coaches were very proud of my weight loss, and they said that even though I killed their defense by doing this, that I was a great example for everybody on the team. Later on in the locker room I was made fun of for that one. I ended up being turned into a running back, I though football was hard back when I was a defensive lineman, ha! This was a million times harder. In stead of a few suicides after practice as cool downs, running backs, quarter-backs, and those who were in trouble had to run ten laps around the school, with all our equipment on, including our cleats. I almost wish I joined soccer, almost, hehe. After practice I took a shower, did my hair, and left the team room. I rushed over to the library and hoped that Tommy was still there.
"You look like shit, what happened?" Tommy so forthrightly stated.
"Thanks jerk, come on let's get out of here. So which mall do you want to go to?"
"Why don't we go to Westoaks Plaza, it's not that far from where I live, and I have to be back before eight my parents said. So what was it that you had to tell me after school."
"Oh, well, let's get into my truck first." (Yeah I drive a 2006 Red F-250 pickup, present from Mom and Dad ok!) When we got in to the pickup, I waited until we were on I-10 before talking.
"Okay, well, Tommy, let's just say that I like you."
"Like me, like me how?
"You know, you're not dumb. I like you Tommy; I really, really like you."
"Oh...
