I was thirteen going on fourteen when I first knew I had fallen in love. It happened in 1962, a long time ago ... although sometimes it doesn't seem that long ago to me. Me Chris Chambers - brother to Eyeball Chambers - in love. I couldn't believe this. And who in the hell was I going to tell? Certainly I couldn't tell my family, or anyone else for that matter. No one would understand; well, not in this narrow-minded town anyway.
I lived in Castle Rock, a small town in Maine, with a population of no more then maybe 100 residents. The summer in which I first saw a dead human being had come to an end. Let me take a moment to explain. That summer was the hottest summer on record in Castle Rock. One day a boy named Ray Brower, not much older than I was, from the next town over in Chamberlain, had gone out to pick blueberries. He never returned home that night, and his parents reported him missing to the Sheriffs office.
There were four of us that traveled from Castle Rock past Chamberlain into Harlow. It was Gordie Lachance, Teddy Dushamp, Vern Tessio, and I. It was a great summer. We followed the train tracks all the way to the Back Harlow Road where the train must have come along and knocked him out of his Keds. We started are journey back to Castle Rock with none of us saying a word to one another. We had set out on this journey to find the body of Ray Brower and become local heroes, but after the experience that words cannot describe we reported where the corpse of the Brower kid was located. When they asked Gordie his name that's when he hung up the receiver.
We all changed over that summer. Not just physically, but mentally too. My father was the town drunk. My brother was a thief. My mother left town when I was born. Everyone just assumed I would turn out the same way. Hell, so did I. Gordie and I grew closer together over that summer. He convinced me to enroll in the college courses with him at Castle Rock High, and that's just what I did. Vern and Teddy were in the shop classes, and eventually became just two more faces in the hall. Sometimes that happens. Friends come in and out of your life like no ones business.
Now I was a good-looking kid. I was 5'6", 130lbs and a tan with no tan lines. My hair was a light brown, which I started to let grow in. I had hazel-blue eyes, which I think are my best feature. I lived in a trailer park next to the junkyard. Milo and his dog, Chopper, ran that junkyard. That was my first lesson in the differences between myth and reality. Chopper was rumored to be this big nasty killer dog. Every kid feared Chopper. You see they said Chopper wasn't trained just to sic a person anywhere; he was trained to sic certain parts of the human anatomy. Thus one might fear the dreaded cry of "Chopper, sic balls!" That summer while trespassing into Milo's junkyard I learned that Chopper wasn't the huge hellhound that we all believed him to be, but rather a small mutt yelping and pawing at the fence.

The bell had rung, which snapped me out of my daydreaming, to signal that the last period of the day had ended. I gathered my books and headed off to my locker. I didn't share my last class of the day with Gordie. I normally met up with him at my locker after school had ended for the day. The halls had emptied for the most part, and still no sign of Gordie. That was unusual, so I started the long walk home by myself. It gave me some time to think. You see my problem was that I was in love with my best friend, Gordie. Yup, that's right...I'm a lil' fairy. I hadn't a clue what to do. I was brought up to believe that what I felt was not normal, that there was something terribly wrong with me. I came to the realization of my feelings for Gordie during the past summer. I needed to tell him. It was killing me inside to be near him all of the time and having to hide my true feelings for him. Now to me that wasn't normal. But, he must know. I would do anything for him.
Gordie lived in a nice home; he had decent parents. However, Gordie was no longer better off than I was anymore. His brother Dennis was killed in a car crash maybe a year ago and his parents still hadn't put the pieces back together again. Dennis was the town's Golden-Boy; he was the star of the football team being able to play any position on the team. Dennis was also the ladies man. Gordie wasn't much the sports type, nor had he shown much interest in the ladies either. That year Gordie became the invisible child. He was an excellent storyteller; I just knew he would become a renowned author one day.
"Hey, Lachance, where have you been?" I yelled out to Gordie.
Gordie turned around and smiled his cute little grin at me. I just melted. Didn't this boy know what he was doing to me?
"I've been around," He replied.
"You know what I meant. Where were you at the end of class?" I asked.
"Oh, umm I had a doctors appointment. I told you that. Don't you remember?" he gave me a confused look.
"No, I must have forgotten," I said.
"More like you were daydreaming again," He snickered.
"The hell with you too!" I laughed.
We were just talking when he asked, "What are you doing this weekend, Chris?" "I dunno. Haven't thought about it yet." Which wasn't exactly a lie; I hadn't thought much about it. "Well, I was thinking...do you want to spend the weekend at my place?" Gordie asked me. I smiled and simply said, "Sure!" Maybe this could be the weekend I could tell Gordie my innermost thoughts and emotions.

That night all I thought about was how I would approach Gordie this weekend. Sometime while I was laying out my plan for the weekend I had fallen asleep, because the next thing I know the alarm is going off. I reached over to hit the off button and realized that I had a major hard-on sticking out of my boxers. Next I made my way to our small bathroom to get a shower and take care of my morning wood. As the hot steaming water from the shower rolls down my defined chest I grab my rapidly growing cock. Visions of Gordie flashed throughout my mind as the next thing I realize I'm shooting my jizz all over the shower floor. I clean up my mess, and jump out of the shower. Now, what to wear? I wanted to wear something nice since today was Friday and I would just head to Gordie's house from school. We would probably catch a movie or something tonight. I picked out a pair of black boxers, my best jeans, a white t-shirt, and a jean jacket. I spiked my hair with some gel and glanced into the mirror. "Damn, I look hot!" I thought to myself.
I looked at my clock. Damn, I was running late. I grabbed my backpack and ran out the door. My first class was algebra; I can't stand mathematics. I want to know when will we ever use this shit in real life? Answer that one for me. "Mr. Chambers! I'm so pleased you could join us this morning." Mr. Tynan stated as I walked into the classroom. I just rolled my eyes as I made my way to my seat behind Gordie. We made eye contact and I just wanted to kiss him right here, but then I remembered where I was and took my seat. The rest of the day just seemed to drown on with nothing earth-shattering happening throughout the course of the school day; it was just another typical Friday.
Gordie and I walked down the dirt road towards his house. "Let's go take a walk into the woods," Gordie said. I just nodded as we walked past the back of Gordie's house into the wooded area of Castle Rock. The leaves on the Elm trees have already started to change in color and fall off their branches. We made our way over to a bunch of large rocks that surrounded a small stream.
"It's getting colder," Gordie shivered.
I took off my jacket and handed it to him. He looked at me inquisitively and I said, "Don't worry about it. I'll be fine." Gordie slid the jacket on and stared at the ground.
"What are you thinking about?" I asked.
Still looking towards the ground he answered in almost an inaudible tone, "Y...You."
I must be hearing wrong he couldn't have just said what I thought he said. I eyed him curiously and said, "Excuse me?"
He looked up at me into my eyes and sighed, "It's you. It's you I'm thinking about. I need to tell you something, Chris. I'm just not sure how you'll react. I can't lose you as a friend. You're the best friend I ever had...." Gordie's voice trailed off.
"Gordie, listen to me. You can tell me anything - you know that. Whatever it is you have to tell me you're not going to lose me as a friend."
"Chris, I think I'm in love with you. I mean more than just a friend."
"You think??" I say. " I know I'm in love with you. I've known since the summer."
"Y...you love me?"
I lean in towards him and kiss him gently on his full strawberry lips. "Yes, I love you, Gordie." I kiss him again, but this time with more passion. I fell his tong press against my lips to gain entrance. I open my lips to allow him to explore my mouth as I do the same. We kiss for what seems like an eternity, yet it seems there is never enough time when I'm with Gordie. We finally break the fanatical kiss as we gasp for life giving breath.
"I love you, Chris."
"I love you too. That was so awesome! It's getting late. I'm sorry I can't stay over at your place tonight Gordie, but I'll see you tomorrow morning."
"Not if I see you first," he says in the sweetest voice imaginable.
I heard a rustling noise nearby and turned my head.
"What the hell!"
Well that's it for now. What will happen now that Chris and Gordie have been caught. Guess you will have to tune in next week. This is my first time writing a story, so I hope you enjoyed it. Constructive criticism is welcomed. Flames will be ignored. Take care.
