If you are not allowed to read further by law or principal you know where the back button is, though I question how you got this far in the first place. For everyone else please note that this is my first attempt at solo writing, so please (the following are words seldom spoken out of my mouth) be gentle. This is based on actual events but the names have been changed to protect the innocent, (and the not so innocent as well)

The rehearsal for the chorus went pretty much the same as the rehearsal for the leads so I won't bore you with all the details. Just that Thad and I were paired for the exercise and we did a scene that involved us being roommates and he was convincing me to audition for pretty lady. Satan's spawn loved it.

After rehearsals and costume fittings we ( Thad and I) went to the Broadway diner for a bite to eat. Broadway diner was a little dive right around the corner from the rehearsal hall that specialized in all the 50s diner stuff (i.e. malts, melts, etc.) The fact that it played almost exclusively show tunes made it a popular hangout with actors and techies. And the queens too, but they are a different sort of creature all together.

We grabbed a booth and sat down just as our waiter strolled up to the table. Think a short VIN diesel.

" So, uh, whattya want?" he spat out, while drooling over Mr. Thad and not so much as throwing me a glance.

" I'll have a patty melt and a chocolate malt," I said forcing his eyes off of my pseudo date.

" That sounds good. I'll have the same," Thad said with that voice that could make you cream your pants just hearing it.

And with that our waiter was gone. I watched him walk down the aisle and my GOD the boy could set his tray on his ass. I mean he had the most perfect vision of what has been called a ghetto booty I have ever seen. My eyes must have lingered a bit too long because when I looked back at Thad he had a goofy grin on his face.

"So how long have you known?" He asked me. Talk about straight to the point. I was thinking dinner, a smoke, and then we could breach this subject around dessert.

" Uh, I think I've always known. As long as I can remember I've been looking at girls in envy, and at boys in lust." I said fishing through my bag to find my newports. As I put one to my lips he lit it for me like in an old movie with Cary Grant.

" And what about you? When did you know?" I asked making the assumption that if I had seen him checking me out, then he must be "family" as my friend Chris would say. I suppose I caught him off gaurd because he started floundering like a fish out of water.

" Uh, well, it's kinda, well, you know---" He started. Even though he was adorable doing this I thought I would ease his tension a bit, so I changed the subject.

" So what did you think of the nazi" I asked sipping my coffee, which had just arrived along with our malts.

" He really wasn't that bad" He started " I had him pegged for a nasty director who would throw us in the stocks if we said a wrong line" He laughed fixing his coffee and sipping his malt at the same time.

"Well, It was just the first day" I replied. " I have to memorize half a script and 4 songs by tomorrow for blocking practice. Perhaps the chorus has yet to see the so called nazi side, but rest assured, the principals and understudies saw it this morning."

" Wow! Well hey, would you like me to help you run lines? I mean it's always been easier for me to bounce them off someone, especially with inflections and accents" He offered.

If only he knew what he had let himself in for-- " I would live for you to stay with me. I said smiling. More and more I was looking at Thad as more than just a body, as a person. A kind, sweet huggable person.

Our Patty melts came and we made short order of devouring them with hardly a word spoken before we started running lines. I looked at my watch, which told me it was 10:45.

"Uh, Thad, would you mind if I called the folks to check in before we start? That way we could be totally devoted to the project at hand." I said, easing my way out of the booth.

" Naw, that's cool Al, I'll order some more coffee if the waiter gets back before you do." he replied.

I walked about 3 feet away from the table and had the distinct feeling I was being watched. I turned just in time to see Thad bury his head in the script. Usually I would have shouted something like "Take a picture, it will last longer" or something equally as catty, but I actually liked that watching me. It meant at least he was interested. Of course I then let my mind wander----

----- Thad and I were backstage just after final curtain call. I felt his hand on the small of my back pulling me to him. "You were Awesome tonight, love," he gently whispered in my ear as he began to nibble on my neck. " You hafta say that" I started, melting into him. " Why don't you let me show you exactly how much I enjoyed your performance with a performance of my own?" He purred leading me to my dressing room. I began to undress, but he stopped me. He gently started to disrobe me, kissing each newly exposed piece of flesh.------

My fantasy was interrupted by my clumsily bumping into the waiter on my way out the door.

" If you're gonna bump me like that, you could at least buy me dinner first." He spat, as he quickly passed me.

"Whatever, bitch" I returned, just loud enough for him to hear, as I walked out onto the patio.

First, I called my mom, to let her know I was running lines at the diner and probably would not be home anytime soon. Being the perfect drama mom she is, she said that was fine and she'd leave the light on for me. Next I called Hans. I saw his number as a missed call, and knew he was probably worried. Ya see he is my fuck buddy as I said, but he is also one of my best girlfriends. I told him where I was and who I was with. He was mildly impressed saying, " Oh him. I mean he's cute and all, but---" I hate when the green eyed bitch called jealousy rears her head, and Hans was one of the bitch's best friends. I hurried him off the phone and returned to Mr. Thad, who was reading my script and pouring himself another cup of coffee. When he saw me he filled me in on what I already knew

" Ummm, I don't know if you knew, but you have a lot of lines before we're in the money! Not to mention a song!"

" I know dear" I started " That's why we ordered coffee," I said smiling and lighting my cigarette. " So whatya say we do the song first and then go back and do the lines"

The look on his face betrayed his thought process immediately.

" I won't sing the song, just go through the words. I am not the type who just goes belting out show tunes in public, even here."

He smiled and shook his head, as I began

" I'm young and healthy, and you got charms, it would really be a sin not to have you in my arms"

Funny how this song described exactly how I felt at the moment; but anyway---

Authors note: I know, I hate it when the story ends in the middle of a scene, but as my mentor taught me I am writing "From the hip" and this is what I got to. The fantasy was for the one who thinks I'm a wham, bam, thank you writer___ you know who you are! Anyways comments and critiques are always welcome. Till next time
