Chapter 2

"Louie, we are almost into Tracy. I am not comfortable driving in a lot of traffic. Do you think you can take us in the rest of the way? "Sure find a wide spot and pull over. I was just going to suggest the same thing. I have reservations at a campground.. Maybe between the two of us we can find it. Do you know where The Shady Oaks RV Park is?" inquired Louie. "I do and it is only about half mile away. I can drive that far. Shady Oaks is on the right side of the road, so we won't even have to cross over." "Good! Go for it!" Adam pulled up to the office and stopped. "Hey would you look at that red Mustang convertible parked over there!" "You like that old thing? It is your! Exclaimed Louie. "I bought it Oregon before I left. I had the dealer call the dealer here and have it delivered." " Oh! You have to be kidding. I can't accepted anything that expensive from you!" "I don't remember asking you to accept it. All I need is Thanks! Now get your butt over there and give it a good inspection. I'll go in and register and pick up the keys for you. Now Move It!!!!!" "Thanks, Louie! Can I give you a big hug? Asked Adam. "Adam, you never need to ask for a hug. Anytime you want to hug me, I am willing. Just do it!" With that Adam hugged me and raced to his car. I went in the office, finished registering and picked up the keys to the car. I went out and handed them to Adam. He was beside himself and gave me another hug. "Adam, why don't you drive over to your mother's and tell her hello. You can come back later and we can go to dinner. I can take a taxi over to the lawyers office." "Mom won't be home until after 5, when she gets off work. I can make like a chauffeur and drive you around." "Adam, do you have your mother's work number? Here use my cell. Why don't you call and let her know you are in town and invite your family to dinner, my treat." We parked the RV and got it all set up in record time. Adam was a fast learner and was a really big help. We decided it was time for lunch and headed for a Chinese buffet not to far away. Adam had called his mother and had made an reservation at Gina's Italian Restaurant for 7:00. It was time to go to Dan's office. Dan is a lawyer and a good friend. I was not looking forward to going to see him. I didn't have a clue about what Dan wanted to talk to me about, but I knew it must be serious and would have something to do with Joe. I asked Adam if he would go with me and of course his answer was yes. We were met by Dan's secretary with a hug and a kiss. I introduced Adam and he got the same treatment. She went to Dan's office and announced us. He rushed to greet us as his secretary had done. Again Adam got the same treatment. We were given coffee and all of us went into the meeting room. After some general visiting, Dan got down to business. "Louie, Joe is resting comfortably and is in no pain whatsoever. His brain activity is nil and in all purposes he is brain dead. He is just being kept alive by artificial means. There is absolutely no prospect for recovery." I started sobbing uncontrollably. Adam wrapped his arms around me and held me. Soon Dan was able to continue. I knew now that Adam would get me through the hard times ahead. "Joe's mother is not expected to live more than two or three days. Here is where the problem comes in. Joe had the power to take her off life support. Just as you have for Joe. He had his heart attack before this could be accomplished. I must ask you not to remove Joe's tubes until after his mother's death." "No, Joe does not want to live connected to a machine." "Louie, I think you better hear Dan out. I feel there is a very good reason for his request. Hear what he has to say and then make your decision." Adam pleaded. "Adam is right. I know how you feel and I feel the same way. I don't want to go against Joe's wishes either but a couple of days won't make much difference one way or another OK to go on?" "Yes" Louie whispered. Adam continued to hold Louie. "Joe has a will leaving everything to his mother. He was in the process of changing it when he was hospitalized. Now there is nothing wrong with that. The problem is that she also has a will leaving everything to a Rev. Roberts. He is a minister of a ultra conservation church. He is very anti gay and leads protest marches all over the country and is a very bad apple. If Joe should die before his mother, then Rev. Roberts would receive Joe's estate. He then would use Joe's money fight against gays and everything Joe stood for. I am sure that the church would not receive one penny. I know Joe would not want that. You would not get anything." "Dan, I don't care about the money. I just want to do the right thing for Joe and at the same time I don't want Rev. Roberts to get anything." "There is more, Louie. Joe's estate is worth roughly 6 million dollars. He has signed all the paper work putting your name down as co-owner. If and when this paper work is complete, then you would automatically become owner of his estate and all Rev. Roberts would get Joe's mother's house, which has very little value. Let me give you an example, If both of you share a joint checking account and something happens to one of you, the money would automatically belong to the surviving partner. That is what we are trying to do. All we need is your signature on all the documents and I would need a day or so to get them all filed. So we are looking at two or three days at the most." "Dan, I would like to see Joe now and I will want to talk with his doctor before I make a decision. I will let you know tonight. Are you free for dinner. We have reservations at Gina's and very easily could add you and a guest to the list." "Yes!" "Then it is settled. We will see you at dinner. I just have to get to the hospital and see Joe. Adam are you ready to play chauffeur?" "Let's go!. See you tonight, Dan." Adam said. As we were leaving Dan's office Adam said, "I certainly wouldn't want to be in you position. That is going to be one hard decision to make. Louie, I am going to be there by your side and you can lean on me all you want. One thing I won't do is try to influence you one way or the other. This is a decision that you and only you will make. You have my full support either way. What I think does not matter, so don't ask." "Thanks Adam! Just having you by my side is more than enough. I don't know what I would do without you. I am so glad that I stopped at that rest area. Fate works in mysterious ways. Will you give me a hug. I need one now." "Hey, I though no asking!" laughed Adam. "Louie, I probably wouldn't have survived it you hadn't stopped.. I think we need each other. Together, we'll make it through all the dark and gloomy days to come." We arrived at the hospital and we went to the admittance office. I showed my power of attorney and told the nurse that Adam was my assistant. She gave us the room number and told us how to get there. Adam and I were standing in front of the elevator and when the door opened, I froze. I couldn't move. Adam took me by the arm and literally pulled me into the elevator. No a word was spoken. I just stood there squeezing his arm. I must have had the circulation shut off. Adam didn't flinch a muscle . He just keep looking at me and smiling. That was all I needed and came back to life. We arrived at Joe's room. I dropped Adam's arm and rushed to Joe , hugging and kissing him. Adam just had a chair and left me be. Finally, I started talking to Joe, telling him everything that had happened since we had seen each other last and how much I loved him. I know Joe could not hear me but I didn't care. Who knows what goes on in a person's mind when they are in a coma. There have been cases where people have come out of comas and have said they knew everything that was going on. I didn't care! I was going to talk to him and treat him as I normally would. I called Adam over and introduced him to Joe. I knew Joe would like him as much as I did. We had been with Joe for some time, when Joe's doctor came in. I liked him from the time he walked into the room and introduced himself. I introduced myself and Adam. "Louie I very glad to meet you and Adam. I feel that I know you personally. Dan has told me all about you. Finally, I get you meet you." "Dr. John are you familiar with Rev. Roberts. I was wondering what kind of guy he is." "Louie, I really can't talk about him. I am Joe's mother's doctor. I am sure that Dan has filled you in. I can tell you that she is in very bad condition and her body is starting to shut down. I don't think that she has long to live. I would like to assure you that Joe is no pain whatsoever. I am keeping him heavily sedated. He has absolute no brain function at all." "Joe has a living will, were you aware of that?" "Yes, I have had the organ donation people check him out. He was without oxygen for so long that his organs were damaged and can't be used. The only thing of use will be his heart valves. These would probably go to two young children born with heart defects. Sorry Louie, I know that you would like to do more but we just can't. Have you made a decision about disconnecting Joe from the life support system?" "No, I haven't. I have a lot of thinking to do. From what you and Dan tell me there is no hurry. I will leave him as is for at least another day and see what develops. I will let you know when I have made a decision. Thank you doctor." "Louie and Adam, I have to make my rounds. I am behind schedule now. See you tonight. I can see from your faces that Dan didn't say anything. Did he?" Adam replied, "No, but we are getting an idea." "You are right, Dan and I are a couple. See you tonight." and the doctor left. "Well, Adam, I think Joe is very capable hands. I think Dr. John will be a great help to me when it comes to making that dreaded decision." "Louie are you ready to return to the motor home?" "Sure let's go. We can stop by a department store and get you some decent duds to wear." "Louie, I can get by with what I have on. I can laundry the things in my backpack and get by just fine." "Adam, I want to tell you now. I have more money than I know what to do with. Joe has 6 million and I have that plus. Money is no issue with me and I enjoy sharing with my fiends as long as they are aren't leaches and holding out their hands to get all they can. You know give me give me. Shall we go now?" "Louie, I still don't feel right. I was not brought up that way. I have always worked for what I had. This is all new to me." "Adam, believe me. You have already earned much more by just being here for me. I value you as a friend and would do anything for you. Please let me. It gives me a good feeling in my heart when I can help someone less fortunate that myself." "You convinced me. What kind of store do you want?" "A good Man's store." "There are a couple in town but I have never been in either one of them." "What are we waiting for? Let's go! I stood on the side lines and let Adam do his shopping. I must say he had very good taste in men's clothing. My wardrobe could use a big up lift. I had Adam help me select new clothes for me. We completed our shopping. Adam and I have a new wardrobe from the inside out. He was like a kid at Christmas time. He showed his appreciation and I liked his conservative attitude. Of course, I had to add many items to his pile of loot. We did manage to get everything in the car and went back to the RV. We spent a lot of time hanging everything and putting my old things in boxes to take to a thrift store. I looked at the clock and noticed that it was after 5 and knew his mother would be home. I talked Adam in going to see her by himself and to come back and get me in time for dinner. I felt that he needed some time alone with his family and I would meet them later that night. I decided to take a short nap, shower and dress for dinner. This had been a long and trying day. I turned the tv on and caught a short news clip of Rev. Roberts leading a protest march down main street. He had about fifty people marching with him. All with signs. I saw one with Joe's name on it. Rev. Roberts just made a decision for me. He would not get one penny of Joe's money. I was even going to try to keep him from getting the house that belonged to Joe's mother. It was 6:30. Adam arrived to pick me up and take me to dinner. When I open the door, I could have fainted. There before me, stood the best looking man I had ever seen. Whoever said clothes make the man sure knew what he was talking about. "My, My this can't be the same Adam that I know!" " It is the same old me, only in a new package. So you like?" He did a quick 360. I liked what I saw. With that I threw both arms around him and held him tight. I certainly would be proud to be seen with Adam tonight. I had on a new outfit that Adam had picked for me. Adam gave me his grin and we left. We arrive at Gina's before every one else and went in. Everything was set up in the large room in back. Gina met us at the door, grabbed me and gave me a big kiss. "And just who is this big handsome man you are with. I think I will take him home with me." Adam turned red, I am sure all the way to his toes. After Adam was introduce, he got a bigger kiss than me. "Oh, give me some air! I think I am going to faint." exclaimed Gina. "Louie, I see you kept your promise and brought your violin with you." Adam turned even a brighter shade of red. This time I gave Adam a big grin. Adam and I were ushered into our room. Everything was already set up. There were several plates of appetizers, finger foods and special treats. "What did Gina mean when she said you kept your promise and brought your violin?" "Gina is a very old and dear friend and I have been eating at her place every time I am in town. The last time we were here Gina was at the same party as Joe and I. I Played a couple of songs and she wanted me to play some good old Italian music here in the café. I told her the next time, I was in town, I would be the traveling minstrel and play for her guest." "So that is why you had the violin with you. I thought that maybe you were going to set up on the street corner and play to pay for dinner." Adam almost died of laughter. "Not a bad idea, but maybe next time." I joked. "Do you mind if I sing along with you. I love singing some of the old songs." asked Adam. "Adam, I think all the guest are in for a double treat. I would love to hear you sing myself. I bet you have a terrific singing voice. You can't let all that college training go to waste." Louie replied. "Why don't we have a small warm up session while we wait for the other to arrive." With that I took the violin out of its case and started to play. Adam came in right on cue. The guests gave us a loud applause. Gina came over and said, "I know that I am taking this young man home with me. What a great voice. Louie you sure made a good find in this one and he is a real keeper. Louie, you weren't too bad yourself. Thanks guys!" We went to another area to play one more song before our party arrived. Adam got a real surprised look on his face. He rushed over to the table and started hugging everyone. "Louie come here. I want to meet some old friends. Rev. Paul is the minister of Mom's church. In fact he baptized me when I was 12." I was introduced to Rev. Paul and his family. I asked if they would like to join us and they agreed to do so. "Louie do you know the song `In The Garden'? I know that this Rev. Paul's favorite hymn and I would love to sing it for him." Louie did not say anything but started to play. After the introduction, Adam joined in. He asked everyone to join in on the chorus. Everyone is the house sang at the top of their lungs. Not a dry eye could be found in the whole place. Dan and Dr. John were the first to arrive. I gave Dan a bad time abut holding out on me but gave him a big hug and congratulations. Of course, Dr. John got his hug, also. I asked Dr. John how Joe was doing and the status of his mother. There was no change in Joe's condition but Joe's mother had deteriorated and probably would not last more than two days at the most, if that long. I told both of them that I had decided to wait to remove Joe from life support. They had seen the same news program as I had and knew exactly where I was coming from. Dan told me to come in tomorrow and start the signing process of getting my name on all of Joe's financial holdings. This way we could be sure that Rev. Roberts would not get his hands on any of Joe's money. Dan asked Adam to come also and act as a witness and one of the secretaries could act as the other. Dan's other secretary was a notary and could notarize everything making it completely legal. Thus, Rev. Roberts would have nothing to use in court. Adam's mother and family arrived now the festivities could began. She was very surprised to see Rev. Paul and family and gave them all a big hug. Adam introduce his mother, Gene. She presented her daughter, Sara and her husband, Tim. Before they could be introduce, Debbie and Josh rushed forward and said at the same time, "I am Debbie" "I am Josh." Before anyone could say anything, Josh asked, "Louie, are you Adam's new boyfriend? I really hope so! Can I call you Grandpa Louie? I don't have a Grandpa and I want you to be mine!' "Josh, first of all, Adam and I are just friends. We have only known each other for two day and we would like to get to know each other. I would be delighted to have you for a grandson. I have never had a grandson and I think you will be just great. Debbie I would like to have you for a grand daughter, also. So Grandpa Louie, It is! I like the sound of that! But Adam, Dan and Dr. John that does not go for you!" I must have a worried look on my face because Adam came to my rescue. "Louie, don't worry about Rev. Paul. He know that I am gay. He is very supportive and has come to my defense several times. He may not completely believe in the concept of gays but he is not against it either. His belief is that every person has the right to decide such matters for themselves. What happens between two consenting adults is of none of his business. He, also, says God loves gays along with everyone else. God is Love." I went over to Rev. Paul, shook his hand and said "Thank You!" His smile was all that I needed. "Grandpa Louie, why do you have that violin, Can you play it? Have you heard Adam sing? Asked Debbie. "I was playing just before you arrived and Adam was singing. Would you like to hear us? Adam are you ready for another round.?" I started to play. Adam, Gene, and Sara all started to sing. Soon everyone in the restaurant all started singing. Gina was the perfect hostess and introduce us to her guests. Adam and I started going from table to table. We were getting a big reception and people wanted to tip us. We just told them to drop their donations into the jar for Habitat for Humanity located by the cash register and I would match every thing dropped in the jar.. Finally, we went back to our party and had dinner. Of course Debbie and Josh had taken care of the seating arrangements. Gene was on the end. Dan and Dr. John was on one side along with Rev Paul and His wife.. Josh and Debbie were seated between Uncle Adam and Grandpa Louie. Rev. Paul's two boys sat one on each side of us. I must say it was a little crowded by no one complained. I had to get use to being a Grandpa, especially when I was never a Dad. The two little boys were calling me Grandpa Louie. I was loving ever minute of my new found happiness. We were getting ready to leave and I started to pay the tab but Gina wouldn't hear of it. I told her that I wanted to leave a tip for the entire staff and I did-double the price of the whole meal. Everyone didn't get much but they were happy. I wanted to do more but Gina said no. I would send over a special thank you gift tomorrow. Gene wanted to know if we wanted to stop by her place and have dessert. The kids wouldn't take no for an answer. Gene had made cookies and homemade ice cream. The kids were told they could not have any until everyone was there. They believed that they would be left out so we really didn't have a choice regardless of the fact that no one had any more room for more food. Oh! What a treat we had. Dan and Dr. John started to leave and got a royal send off by the two little chatter boxes. Rev. Paul and family had to leave also. I love that family. He is my kind of minister and father. I knew I would be in the first pew on Sunday. Adam and I were just about ready to leave for the motor home, when the kids decided they wanted to go camping too. They started in on their mom to let them go. She finally said that they had to ask Uncle Adam and Grandpa Louie. We finally agreed even though we had different plans. I thought that Gene and Tim would die laughing. The kids wanted to know what was so funny. Gene said "Oh! Nothing" And started laughing again. Adam was beet red and I know I must have been redder. Maybe having grand kids wasn't so neat after all. Sara told the kids that they needed to get toothbrushes, night clothes, and clothes for tomorrow. They were off and back in just a few minutes, ready to go. I told them that I had sleeping bags but they need pillows. Off they ran again. They came back with pillows and a stuffed animal apiece. As we leaving, Gene said they would see us for breakfast but the kids wanted to eat at the motor home. I said ok and Gene, Sara and Tim should be there about 8:00 or there wouldn't be any left after that. We were gone. We stopped by the hospital and went to Joe's room for a few minutes. Adam and I told him goodby and left. The kids were in the waiting room and were ready to go when we arrived. They were excited and wanted to go camping. Finally Adam and I got them into their sleeping bags and went into the bedroom. We were barely in bed when Josh knocked on our door. He had to use the bathroom again. Adam slipped his shorts on and let him into the bathroom. He came out and Debbie wanted to use it, too. So Adam escorted her into the bathroom. Josh jumped into bed with me. Grandpa Louie you don't have any clothes on. I quickly pulled on a pair of shorts. Debbie climbed into bed beside Josh. Adam was told to get on one side and I had to get on the other. All four of us were in bed. I must say there we were a bit crowded. The kids finally dropped of to sleep. Adam reached across the kids and shook me. "Louie, are you asleep?" He whispered. "Just about, why?" "Meet me in the other room and you'll find out!' Adam stopped by the bathroom and got a large bath towel and spread it over the sofa. "Louie do you have any lube and condoms in the bathroom?" "No, but I can sneak in and get some out of the bedroom." " You had better be quite and not wake the kids. My ass is on fire and I need some cooling off and I don't mean a cold shower, either!" When I returned Adam had already removed his shorts and was standing there nude and grinning from ear to ear. I wasted not time getting out of mine. Adams had his arms around my neck and was French kissing me. We were both hard as rocks. Adam took the condom and slipped it on me. He bent over the sofa and pulled his butt cheeks apart. I swear I saw his pucker wink. I wasted no time putting a large glob of lube on him and slipped a couple of fingers into his hole. "Take it easy entering me and then I like it hard and fast." Adam purred. I had not problem entering Adam. He knew what he was doing and had relaxed and was pushing out making it easy for me to enter him. He gave me a ride that I will never forget. He was so tight and knew how to please me. I must have been satisfying him. He was moaning and groaning softy as not to wake the kids. After a long and wild time, I finally came and fell to on the sofa exhausted. Adam knew what he was doing when he brought the towel with him. Adam and I lay there hugging each other. We both started to get hard at the same time. "Guess what I have?" holding up a second condom. "My turn to bottom. I want to see what kind of lover you are! Put this on and lets get started!" Adam was a terrific and could work magic with that dick of his. I gave him my all and he returned my efforts. Soon we were both ready for the shower. I sent Adam in first and cleaned up the mess and plugged in an air refresher. I couldn't have the motorhome smelling like a whorehouse. Adam and I quietly crawled back into bed and were asleep in no time at all. I was up early and had breakfast ready at 8.00. Gene, Sarah, and Tim arrive right on time. "Grandma! Grandma! You have to yell at Uncle Adam and Grandpa Louie. Uncle Adam was going to sleep in just his shorts and Grandpa Louie didn't even have those on. Why do I have wear pajamas?" Josh exclaimed! Adam and I wanted to find an hole and climb in to hide. Gene, Sarah, and Tim started laughing again.
