Chapter 21: EMBRACE
I sat at the computer, trying to find any references to a fake out copy of spellbook. I hadn't found anything, but it left me to wonder, was there really one? And if so, how many people knew this? I mean, dad couldn't have known it was a fake book, could he?
"I got some info on the book." Ruby said behind me.
I didn't look back, " What is it?" I asked, still searching through webpages.
"I love the laptop, is it..."
"It's Sam's." I said, then I looked at her, " You like Sam, don't you?"
"That's a little out of the blue." she said, leaning on the desk. I stared at her, " He's not repulsive."
"Careful. You might start acting...human." I smirked.
Ruby let out a quiet laughter, " So, you wanna hear the news or what?" she asked. I smirked and nodded, " Long ago, give or take ten years, some hunters, go figure, split the book in two. You have half the book." she said.
I stopped and looked at her again, " What?" I asked, " I felt the power, if that's only half the power then I'm going to need a cigarette." I smiled.
"You smoke?" Ruby asked.
"No. Just thought it'd be funny." I said, " I need the guys out of the way."
"How you gonna swing that one?" Ruby asked.
"I already thought about that. Bobby. They went against a witch and learned your deep, dark secret, so now, I'm going to sent them a real awakening." I said.
"You know, you're losing that halo." she smirked.
"To save the world, I'd gain some horns." I said quickly, " Besides, it's harmless and I need you to find a way for that to happen. THere's this new technology bull. I'm gonna make this potion, you give the potion I'm about to give you to Bobby. Frame someone. And the rest should work itself."
She just stared.
"What?" I asked.
"Are you trying to kill them?" she asked.
"No, but if anything that's too simple, they won't take the time to solve it. I need them gone for a long time." I explained, " I love Sam and Dean...they die in any way, you die...horribly."
"Gotcha." she said, " But you do know Dean's gonna..."
"Nope. After this is all done, I'm gonna fix that." I said.
"How?" she asked.
"His soul for mine." I said quickly.
"What if I help them. More. Losing you would be bad. I know other ways." she said.
"Alright." I said quickly, " They die. You die. Later." I smiled.
Ruby smiled as she disappeared. A few seconds later, the boys came in.
"Hey guys." I smiled.
"Okay, so what, there's a demon, check, big scary house, check, now what?" I asked, " Last time we were in a scary mansion, I ended up figthing in a cage." I said, flashing the light ahead of me as I walked down a seemingly endless hallway. I found myself stopped behind Sam, who stopped suddenly. He had been skiddish all day and it was starting to creep me out.
"There's a Djinn here. A genie." he explained impatiently.
"Like the one that sent you to a me-less universe? Harsh." I said, looking around, " Do they normally hang out in swank mansions?"
"Not really." Sam said, " Actually, it's kind of odd."
I nodded, " I'm the king of odd. Well, lately." I said.
"Ever since you ran into us?" he asked.
I stopped again, " No. Well, yeah, but it's been like two years. I mean really lately. Since I dove headfirst into the witchy stuff." I said.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"I'm not myself, is all. To be connected to an all knowing thing is like...being connected to an all knowing thing." I said.
"Is it too much?" Sam asked, concerned.
"Doesn't matter now, Sam. The wheels are turning." I said slowly, " Sometimes I wish I could just be at home, or at school and be normal..."
"But..." he said.
"But, then I remember high school and I'm pretty glad I'm not there. Give me a demon any day." I smirked.
Sam smiled.
"Is that a smile? I haven't seen you smile since I left." I said.
"You altered my mind." Sam said.
"Yes." I cried, " I did. And you have to forgive me."
"Why should I?" Sam asked.
"Because there's a chance next time I leave, I'm not coming back!" I shouted, " Dammit Sam, you cannot be mad! I did it for us."
"For us?!" Sam asked.
"Yes. With every demon out there and now every witch, we will never be safe! Dean will never be safe! And I wanna be there when you save Dean. And as corny as it might sound, I want to live with you two forever...well, you."
"Then stay, don't go." Sam said, clutching my shoulders, " If I fail and Dean dies, then I'm going to be alone."
"Dean's not gonna die." I said.
"What kind of magic are you doing?" Sam asked, " What will this book do to you?"
"The Darkest place a witch has ever gone is way past demon Ruby. The darkest place is losing all humanity without going to Hell." I said slowly, " It's in my genes."
"Has anyone ever done what you're about to try?" Sam asked.
"You're the expert." I said, turning to him, " You tell me."
Sam thought about it quickly and stopped, " Dark magic?" he asked.
"The Darkest." I said, " Doesn't get much darker."
"We can go away, get married...you can stay. Vegas isn't that far. Then we can help Dean together." Sam said desperately.
"Sam. If I thought that would fix everything, I would." I said quickly, " I came back because I missed you, but I'm going to get pretty dark and I can't let you distract me. I figured out what the spell meant."
Sam looked at me closely, " You have to die. It didn't mean literally this time, but you have to die?" he asked.
"I have to." I said, moving closer, " We're perfect for each other."
"Is there anything I can do?" Sam asked.
"You can save Dean. When I come back, I want to see both of you." I smiled, " And if I appear in your dreams, just sleep a little longer."
Sam nodded.
"And tell Dean see ya later." I smiled slowly.
"You're not coming back with us?" he asked, " Just to get your stuff."
"My stuff's already gone." I said, " You have to go."
"What about the Djinn?" Sam asked.
"I've got it." I said, putting me head down and backing away.
"I....I..." Sam stammered.
"Take him away." I said, causing him to disappear. I turned to see something. It moved quickly, despite it's size and it was on me before I could figure out what happened. I lifted my hand and uttered, " Fire!" and a ball of fire shot out of my hand, knocking the Djinn backwards! I focused on him, all the anger, all the sadness poured into him through me. I felt him, his feelings in that moment. His motives and he disentegrated. I wavered and fell to the floor.
"Well done." a voice said, causing me to turn and see a man hovering in white light, " You have let go of yourself. You have embraced a destiny."
"Destiny? Who are you?" I asked.
"I am Quin. Your guide." Quin smiled, his large eyes focused on me, " You are exhausted. You have to welcome who you are meant to be."
"What are you talking about?" I panted.
"Forget who you are. Who you were. Embrace him." he said.
"Him?" I asked.
There was a flash. Me killing someone.
"It's who you'll have to become." he said.
"I'm ready." I said, standing, " Teach me."
Well, if you liked it please tell me so I can start work on the next one.
