Tale of Nate and Josh Copyright © 2021 by Jay. All rights reserved.
Hi you horny Nifty readers! Thanks so much for returning to read part 2 of Nate and Josh's story. I really enjoyed writing this chapter, and I sincerely hope you'll enjoy reading it just as much. At times I felt I was swooning along with Nate. This chapter is really focused on establishing a good solid foundation for Nate and Josh's relationship going forward. As such, there is once again no hardcore sex in this chapter. There is a passionate first kiss and some fun suggestions and nods to the real fun to come. So if more hardcore fun is all you're waiting for then unfortunately you'll have to wait till the next chapter when I assure you things will get more hot and heavy between Nate and Josh. But many of you in your wonderful feedback emails indicated to me that you enjoyed the detailed interactions between Nate and Josh, and me putting in the effort to build a decent narrative around their relationship, as opposed to just jumping straight to sex. For those readers, I'm sure you'll love this chapter. I certainly loved writing it! But please do let me know what you thought of this chapter -- good or bad. Now, I am very pleased to give you part two of Nate and Josh's tale.
Nate was once again awoken by the blaring sound of his alarm. He quickly silenced it, having no qualms about waking up this morning knowing that he had plans with Josh later that afternoon. He had wondered last night whether he'd be able to fall asleep given his excitement. But thankfully, despite his excitement, he was able to get some decent rest. As he stared up at the ceiling, he was grateful for the fact that because he was able to get some sleep he wouldn't have bags under his eyes when he met up with Josh later today. It hadn't all been a dream, here he was wide awake with plans to meet with Josh Wright. Thinking about this he couldn't help but smile again.
Nate got up and went about his usual morning routine. He headed out for another run. It was another beautiful day out and there was once again a fair amount of other joggers going about their morning runs at the same time. Nate did actually cross paths with Jenny from next door today and she gave him a wide smile and wave as she passed him which he returned. Maybe it was his good mood, or maybe it was just that his jogging playlist had played some particularly good high-energy beats through his AirPods today, but Nate finished his jog in an exceptionally good time today and he was very pleased with himself when he got back home.
When Nate entered the kitchen it was just his mom in there. She was busy cutting up various fruits for a fruit salad. The juicer was also on the counter with a bunch of oranges laying next to it. Evidently she was going to juice some oranges for them as well. Nate was looking forward to the fresh orange juice after his run.
"Morning sweetheart. Your dad's upstairs waking up sleeping beauty," she said looking up at Nate. "Said he wanted to see if he could do as good a job of it as you managed to yesterday," she added with a chuckle. "So you're off the hook this morning as your dad has volunteered for the unenviable task of getting your brother up for breakfast. Head on up and grab a shower. Breakfast will be ready by the time you get back down."
"Thanks, mom," replied Nate as he came over and gave her a peck on the cheek. "I'm pretty sure dad's method won't be as effective as mine, but happy to let him have a go at it," he said with a chuckle. He grabbed an apple slice out of the bowl and popped it into his mouth before heading up to shower.
The rest of the morning went by as expected. Their dad did eventually get Luke up, but not without considerable effort. Breakfast was good and that fresh orange juice went down like a charm. Nate was actually anxious to get to school. He wanted the school day to go by as quickly as possible so that he could go meet Josh at his football practice after school. He still wasn't exactly sure what this afternoon was going to turn out to be, but he was very excited to find out.
When they got to school Nate found Hayley in her usual spot. She asked him whether he wanted to come over to her house after school and they could do some prep for a Maths test they had coming up. She added that afterwards they could watch an episode or two of that Netflix show with all the hot boys as well before he headed home.
Nate hadn't yet told Hayley about his plans with Josh that afternoon. Just as he didn't want to tell his parents or Luke about it yesterday since he didn't know exactly what to expect, he didn't really want to tell Hayley yet for the same reason. Plus he knew Hayley would freak out, since she understood more than anyone else just how big Nate's crush on Josh was. Nate thought about lying to her and coming up with some excuse why he couldn't join her this afternoon. But he decided against it -- he didn't want to lie to his best friend. Plus, after confiding in her so much in the past about his crush on Josh, now that there was a major new development with Josh -- even if he didn't understand yet exactly how it would pan out -- Hayley more than anyone else deserved to know about it.
"I'd normally love to come over, but I can't. I've sort of got other plans," he started off cautiously, glancing over at her to gauge her reaction. She just looked back with curious eyes waiting for him to go on. "So yesterday after PE class Josh Wright asked me whether I'd like to come watch him play football during his practice after school today." She stopped dead in her tracks and looked at him with wide eyes. Before she could react, and Nate knew her reaction was going to be dramatic in true Hayley style, he quickly added, "And then we're going to go grab an iced coffee afterwards."
Hayley extended her arms and grabbed Nate by the shoulders, forcing him to face her and look into her eyes as she started saying at a volume much too high for Nate's liking, "Nate! First of all, WHAT THE HELL?! Why am I only hearing about this now -- the day AFTER it happened." She gave him quite a violent shake as she said the word after'. Before Nate could get a word in or ask her to be quieter she continued, "Secondly, and much more importantly, this is fucking awesome news! Of course you can't come over to my house after school today. You don't sort of' have other plans as you put it. Nate, you have plans to meet up with Josh ... THE Josh fucking Wright. The same Josh I have to sometimes wonder whether I have a crush on because of how often you go on and on AND ON about him repeatedly saying how amazing and perfect he is. Of course you HAVE to go meet with him." Hayley gave him Nate a bear hug, almost squeezing the life out of him, and said, "I'm so happy for you Nate! But now you owe me the full story about how this happened, and don't you dare skip a single miniscule detail you little shit."
For a brief moment Nate felt a little guilty that he hadn't told Hayley sooner. Of course he knew she'd always react like this and knew that, in spite of her dramatic style, in the end she would be nothing but happy for him. But the guilt quickly passed, replaced by gratitude and joy knowing that he had such an amazing friend like her. He eventually had to pry himself out of her bear hug before he suffocated -- he couldn't go and die before getting to meet with Josh this afternoon. Nate relayed the full story to Hayley as they had some spare time before the bell rang. He was smiling like a fool again as he told the story. Hayley was smiling too, gasping and giggling as Nate relayed the details.
After he finished telling the story Hayley said, "Ok so I'll make you a deal Casanova. I'll forgive you and let you off the hook for not telling me about this yesterday IF you promise to call me this evening and fill me in on what happened. I'm so excited and there is no chance in hell I'll get a wink of sleep tonight if I don't know what happened on your date with Josh."
"First of all, it's not a date. It's ... well, as I said, I don't know exactly what it is. But, more importantly, we have a deal," replied Nate smiling. "Thanks for being such a good friend, Hayley. And sorry for not telling you yesterday. That was a definite misstep on my part. I promise I'll make it up with one of those carrot cake cupcakes you love from Sally's Café sometime soon." Satisfied at this response Hayley gave him another quick hug before they went on with their school day.
The school day took longer than Nate would have liked it to. He was expecting that though, knowing that his longing for it to be over so he could finally meet with Josh would only make it seem longer than usual. He nevertheless made a concerted effort to pay attention in all his classes that day. He was tempted to be distracted and just think about Josh, but at the same time he knew he had to keep his grades up. Nate was a good student, having exercised discipline to achieve the perfect grades he had. No matter how badly he was crushing on Josh, he knew better than to let his grades slip and all his previous hard work be wasted just so that he could entertain fairytale daydreams about Josh and endlessly speculate about what this afternoon would entail. And so Nate focused and powered through the day until eventually the bell after his last class rang signaling the end of the school day.
Nate was giddy with excitement, it was finally time for him to head over to the football field so he could meet Josh. Luke was going home with one of his friends after school today so Nate thankfully didn't have to worry about getting Luke home. His phone buzzed in his pocket. He looked at it and saw that it was a text from Hayley. He opened it. "I hope this afternoon is magical for you. Just be yourself -- even if Josh Wright only has as many braincells as he has abs that would be still enough for him to realize what an awesome guy he's spending time with." The text was followed by a number of heart emojis. A few seconds later he got another text from Hayley, "And don't forget our deal!! I'll speak to you this evening. Love you!!"
Nate chuckled at Hayley's texts. He knew that no matter what happened with Josh this afternoon he was already very fortunate in life to have such an amazing friend, as well as an awesome family, who all loved him. He loved them all back. He knew that he didn't NEED Josh's love or affection, but it would be really fucking awesome if he could have it as well. He resolved that he would take Hayley's advice and just be himself. No matter what happened this afternoon, he wanted to be himself and let Josh get to know the real him a little better. He really hoped he could get to know the real Josh a little better as well.
When Nate arrived at the bleachers he noticed that football practice had not formally started yet. Some of the players were on the field, but not all of them. Some of them were chatting to each other or looking at their phones. Others were stretching in preparation for practice. Nate looked across all of them -- he knew the names of some of them, but not all of them. But the one player he was looking for -- the only one that really mattered to Nate, was not on the field yet. Nate took a seat and waited patiently, keeping a keen eye out for Josh.
The smell suddenly filled his nostrils -- Josh was near. Nate's heart instinctively began to beat a little faster. He swung his head around and there was Josh standing one step above and behind him. Josh looked fucking hot in his football gear! He was such a hot jock that could probably get almost any girl in their high school he wanted to spread their legs for him. But instead here Josh was smiling down at Nate. Josh hadn't invited any of those girls today, he'd invited Nate. Nate still couldn't get over how crazy that was, and how a little more than a day ago he would have thought this scenario only possible in his dreams. Maybe dreams do come true after all Nate thought to himself.
"I'm glad you made it, Nathan Greene," said Josh with a big smile. "And on top of that you got here before I did. Good to know you take your responsibility of assessing me on the field today seriously," he continued as his smile transformed more into a smirk that had a combination of playfulness and mischief in it. There was a twinkle in Josh's eyes as he looked down at Nate -- it definitely also had that combination of playfulness and mischief that was in his smirk. But Josh's eyes ever so subtly betrayed something more as well, a small voice in the back of Nate's head said it looked like a tinge of lust.
Nate reminded himself to just breath normally and be himself. Josh had invited him here today, Josh wanted him here. Nate had no reason to be all flustered and at a loss for words again today. He was not caught off guard today by Josh like he was yesterday, so he was much more composed on the outside (even if he was all giddy and excited on the inside because he was around Josh). Nate liked the playfulness in what Josh said, he enjoyed engaging in banter like this and was happy to respond in kind. "I certainly do take my assessment responsibilities very seriously. I must warn you, Mr Wright, that I intend to conduct a very thorough assessment of you today." He paused for a second before adding, "I hope you'll put on a good show for me." Nate gave his own smirk to Josh as he said this. He was a little surprised at how forward he was being, yet it felt like it fit the mood and didn't feel inappropriate.
Josh's smirk grew at Nate's response. "Oh I'll put on a good show alright. I always aim to impress and please. I'm confident you won't be disappointed." Josh finished his quip with a wink.
Oh ... my ... god. Josh Wright just winked at me thought Nate. His heart began to flutter again and he had to battle hard to maintain his composure. He was glad he was sitting because that wink would definitely have made him weak in the knees if he was standing. Despite his inner euphoria Nate managed to maintain a cool and smooth outward appearance. "I'm glad to hear that, Mr Wright. It's always nice to be impressed. And you say you aim to please, well I for one have been waiting some time for a man that can please me. So I sincerely hope that's not just big empty talk coming from you." Nate cocked his eyebrow mischievously as he said this. He still could not believe he was actually having a conversation like this with Josh, but fuck he was enjoying it.
That glint of lust that was previously so subtle in Josh's eyes suddenly flared up and Nate was now almost certain he saw lust in Josh's eyes. Josh chucked and was full on mischievously smirking now as he continued. "Oh don't worry, Natahan Greene. It's not just big talk. I prefer to leave the BIG to other departments." Josh shot Nate a shit-eating grin as he said this looking very pleased with himself and oh so confident.
Fuck, thought Nate. Did Josh actually just imply that he had a big dick? He absolutely loved how this afternoon was going so far -- far better than he could ever have dreamed it would. "Well I'm the one doing the assessing today, Mr Wright, so I believe I'll have to be the judge of what is big or not," said Nate who now gave Josh a wink of his own.
Josh let out a loud laugh looking very impressed with Nate's response. "Well you did promise a very thorough assessment -- and I intend to hold you to that," replied Josh. Suddenly there was the sound of a whistle blowing on the field down below. The coach had arrived and was calling for all the players to get ready to kick off practice. Josh looked back to Nate and said, "I'm REALLY glad I invited you here today, Nathan Greene. But now you must allow me to go put on the first part of my show for you. When practice is done I'm going to go grab a quick shower and change so I don't negatively impact my assessment by offending your nostrils, and then I'll head back and catch you here. Looking forward to that iced-coffee ... and of course hearing all about your assessment."
Nate was smiling like a fool again. Josh Wright was glad he was here spending time with him. Nate felt like his insides might explode with all the happiness and excitement that was coursing through his veins. "I'll be here for sure, Josh. Really looking forward to that iced coffee with you as well," he replied, sure his inner joy and eagerness was on full display but not minding at all. He wanted Josh to know how happy he was to be spending time with him.
Josh then sprinted down to the field to begin practice and Nate enjoyed admiring Josh's perfect bubble ass as he did so. Nate definitely intended to observe Josh very closely, as promised, and knew he'd love every minute of it. The entire practice long Nate never took his eyes off Josh once. The only times Josh wasn't in Nate's view were those nanoseconds when Nate was blinking. If Nate didn't have to blink he wouldn't have so he could keep Josh in his sights non-stop. Josh was genuinely putting on a good show, both aesthetically and in terms of his actual game. He wasn't his team's star quarterback for no reason, and he was exceptionally skilled at playing football and loved it. Josh played with such athletic grace - so agile and smooth - that he made it look like a fine art. While Nate certainly appreciated how hot Josh looked, he could not help but also admire how genuinely impressive of a game Josh could play. Nate understood the rules of football and watched the occasional big games at home with his dad and brother, but he was never really a huge fan. But watching Josh play, seeing how beautiful he made the game look, Nate suddenly knew he'd be coming to watch Josh play in all future games he could attend. Nate closely assessed Josh on the field as promised, and as was entirely expected, Nate was thoroughly impressed by what he saw in more ways than one. Every now and then between plays Josh would look back up at Nate and shoot him a smile -- and every time without fail Nate's heart would flutter.
The practice ended and the coach called all the players to approach him for a chat before dismissing them for the day. Nate couldn't hear what the coach was telling them from this far away, but he saw the coach give Josh a big pat on the back and ruffle his hair. The coached dismissed the players and they all started heading back to the locker room to shower and change. Before Josh joined his team in heading to the showers he looked back at Nate and shouted across the field so Nate could here him, "I'll be right back Nathan Greene."
Nate was surprised. Josh had just announced very publicly and very loudly so that anyone in earshot -- including his whole football team -- could hear that he had plans to meet with Nate. Nate had just assumed Josh may not want everyone in their school to know he was meeting with the gay kid after school, but clearly Josh didn't mind anyone knowing about this. This made Nate even happier, Josh wasn't sneaking around with him or ashamed to let people know he was meeting with him. Josh seemed perfectly fine with the whole world knowing that he was going to spend time with him. Nate smiled broadly, put his thumb up to indicate he heard and shouted back for good measure, "I'll be here!"
Nate thought about texting Hayley to let her know the afternoon was going really well so far but opted against it. He didn't want to jinx things before the afternoon was over. He'd call Hayley this evening, as promised, and give her the full story once the afternoon was over. Nate just sat there in contented silence, the happiest he could ever remember himself being. Maybe there were gay gods up there after all he mused to himself -- how else could things be going so perfectly at the moment.
But then things got even more perfect when Nate saw Josh approaching him. Josh was smiling broadly. He was freshly showered, hair still damp from the wash it had just gotten. When he got close to Nate he said, "Alright, Nathan Greene, you as ready for that iced-coffee as I am? Shall we head over to Sally's Café? It's one of my favorite spots and it's pretty close by. I can drive us. Happy to drop you off at your car in the school lot afterwards once we're done."
Nate smiled, he loved Sally's Café and it was one of his favorites too. It was the perfect spot. "I sure am ready for that iced-coffee -- and Sally's makes a mean one that would go down great right now!" He grinned and added, "And then once we're there I can give you that assessment. In case you didn't notice, I was watching very closely."
Josh chuckled, "Oh yea, I certainly did notice. Sounds like a good plan to me. Come on, let's get going. Can't have you saying I left you parched for too long this afternoon. Plus, I can't wait to hear your assessment once we get there."
And with that they headed over to Josh's car. As they walked Nate asked Josh how he felt their practice went today. Josh filled him in on the details of what they'd done today and his assessment of what they did well, what they still needed to work on, etc. Josh was very enthusiastic when speaking about football and Nate enjoyed listen to him speak about it with such passion. They got to Josh's car, a red Jeep Wrangler. Nate loved the smell in the car, it smelled a bit like Josh. As they drove to the café Nate asked Josh how he got into football and Josh told him that he'd first got interested when he was younger watching his older brother play and began to play with him. Josh told Nate that Reed, his older brother, had left home to attend an out-of-State college two years ago. But Josh kept in close contact with Reed over the phone and kept Reed posted on all the games he played and how the season was going, etc. Reed now played football for his college team and continued to excel there. Nate could tell how proud Josh was of his brother playing for his college's football team. Josh said he hoped to play college football as well one day which motivated him to keep practicing hard. Nate assured Josh that from what he obserbed today Josh was well on track to accomplishing that goal. Josh seemed really pleased with that compliment and shot Nate genuine smile thanking him for it.
They eventually arrived at Sally's Café and went inside. They got a nice booth to the one far side that was great -- it was a little quieter and more secluded from the other tables and booths. They placed their orders for their iced coffee with the friendly waiter and settled back into the comfortable seats facing each other and making eye contact. Both were smiling.
Josh spoke first. "So, Nathan Greene, you've kept me waiting long enough. I think it's about time you gave me the outcome of your assessment. Did I impress and put on a good show? I certainly hope I left you satisfied." He sat back waiting for Nate's response. He looked confident and certain that he would like the response he got. That confidence only made him more attractive to Nate.
"Well, Mr Wright, as you may have noticed, I certainly did pay VERY close attention to you on the field today. After my careful and attentive observations, I can confidently report that..." Nate paused here to try create a bit of suspense. Josh never broke eye contact with Nate during the pause, and his confidence never seemed to falter. He continued to look at Nate, smugly grinning and patiently waiting for the verdict. Josh seemed to be really enjoying himself. After Nate thought he'd paused just the right amount he continued, "In my professional opinion you have every right to be wearing that smug grin on your face. You looked amazing out there on the field today. You were certainly not just empty talk, Mr Wright. You delivered, as promised, and left me very impressed!" Nate watched Josh's smile grow even more smug, something he didn't think possible. "Oh, and you played great as well. So you passed with flying colors on both fronts -- you looked and played great."
After savoring the compliment for a bit and basking in the praise Nate had just heaped on him, Josh responded, "Why thank you, Nathan Green, for giving me such a stellar report." He leaned forward and continued, "Your opinion means a lot to me and I'm glad it's such a good one. I'm very glad to hear I impressed you this afternoon. But, as I recall, I promised to impress AND please you. I'm determined to make good on my promise to please you as well before the afternoon is done." Josh shot Nate a very seductive smirk as he said the last part.
Nate's heart once again began to flutter and he had to battle to keep his calm outward composure. His mind was racing at a million miles an hour. Firstly, Josh had said Nate's opinion of him mattered a lot to him. Nate had no idea Josh cared so much what he thought about him. Secondly, Josh had promised to `please' him before the afternoon was up. Nate was VERY curious to know what Josh meant by that and his dick was instantly a semi at some of the prospects he was imagining Josh could have meant by it. Finally, that clearly seductive smirk was driving Nate wild and would soon turn his semi into a full-on boner if Josh didn't wipe it off his face soon.
Thankfully just as Josh had finished speaking and while all these thoughts were racing through Nate's mind their waiter returned setting down their iced coffees. Josh thanked her and she walked off. This distraction gave Nate time to recompose himself internally and respond. He plucked up the courage and decided it was about time he was a bit blunt with Josh and try and find out what this afternoon was all about.
Nate swallowed and then began, "Josh, I'm of course very flattered at you saying my opinion means a lot to you." He looked directly into Josh's eyes, put more at ease by Josh's relaxed demeanor and the smile on his face. He continued, "But I have to be honest. I'm not exactly sure why my opinion means a lot to you. I mean, we've spoken more over the past 24 or so hours than we've ever spoken to each other in our entire lives before that." Nate could see Josh was paying close attention to what he was saying, and was grateful Josh still looked to be very much at ease. So Nate pressed on, "And while I'm thrilled you asked me to spend time with you this afternoon and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our time together so far, why exactly did you ask me to join you this afternoon? I certainly don't mean to sound rude or awkward, but I have to ask, why exactly am I sitting here having an iced coffee with you and giving you an opinion on how you looked out on the field today?"
Nate's heart was beating so hard it felt like it might pop out of his chest. He decided to stop speaking there before he lost his composure and said something stupid or ruined this so far perfect afternoon. In any event, he'd asked the big question he needed to and now he was waiting for the big moment of truth. Josh's response had the potential to crush Nate, or it could make Nate the happiest person alive. Josh's response could go down so many different ways, and Nate was a little terrified at not knowing at all how it would pan out. But he was about to find out.
Josh had been listening closely to Nate's questions and did not interrupt Nate until he was done. Nate thought perhaps his eyes or face must have betrayed the nervousness inside him at not knowing how Josh would respond because Josh suddenly put on a very warm and soothing smile, as if to signal to Nate that he should relax and breathe. Josh leaned forward, never breaking eye contact with Nate, and reached his hand across the table to ever so gently lay his hand on top of Nate's hand that was resting on the table. The touch sent electricity sparks surging through Nate's body, and he could not be certain that a small gasp did not involuntarily escape his lips at the touch.
Josh looked deep into Nate's eyes and began, "You're a very clever guy, Nathan Greene, that much I know for sure. It's one of the most attractive things about you." Josh gently squeezed Nate's hand before he continued. "But for such a clever guy I'm a little surprised that you cannot recognize flirting when someone is so obviously flirting with you as I have been, or that you can't recognize when someone is blatantly attracted to you like I am."
Holy. Fucking. Shit. If Nate thought his mind had already been in overdrive or that his heart had been fluttering before, it was nothing compared to this. It was as if his mind and body could not process all the emotions, thoughts and feelings he was experiencing all at once. There was a cacophony of reactions that all seemed to be battling with one another inside Nate. Josh Wright - the boy he'd adored from afar for more than a year, had countless sexual dreams about and who he thought was the hottest thing walking this planet -- had just admitted to flirting with him and being attracted to him. Nate wanted leap across the table and kiss Josh's full and perfect lips. He wanted to scream out loud and let the whole world hear how excited he was that Josh Wright was attracted to him and liked him. He wanted to cry tears of joy he was so bubbling up with pure excitement and elation at what Josh had just revealed. Nate wanted to do all these things, all at once. But instead he was just frozen in place, eyes locked with the only other person in the world that existed as far as he was concerned in that moment.
Josh, noticing Nate's silence and understanding he was processing what he'd just said, decided to take advantage of the silence and go on. "So you asked why you're here having an iced coffee with me. Well that's because yesterday morning I caught the cutest boy in our whole school checking me out. For months now I'd thought I noticed you checking me out on various different occasions at school. When I was dating Emily I never did anything about it or gave it much thought because I was with her. Then after we broke up for a few weeks I was not ready to think about other people in a romantic way because I was a bit torn up by the breakup. But I got over that." Josh's smile brightened even more and he have Nate's hand another gentle squeeze before he continued, "But then yesterday morning I once again caught you checking me out at our lockers in the hallway and noticed a rather obvious ... and may I add impressive ... boner in your pants. And it confirmed the suspicions I'd had for months. Nathan Greene - the clever, charming and oh so fucking gorgeous Nathan Greene -- was attracted to me -- maybe even had a crush on me. So I decided to take my shot and make a move. If there was a chance I could get Nathan Greene to go on a date with me I had to take it. So I began to playfully flirt in the hallway to test the waters."
Nate still could not move or say anything, he was frozen still. But he loved the way Josh's hand felt on his, and he was hooked on every single word Josh was saying. They sounded too good to be true, but from the sincerity Nate could see in Josh's eyes as he was saying them, Nate knew they were true. So he just kept quiet and let Josh continue.
"You were very adorable in your flustered response in the hallway yesterday morning. But I still could not be 100% certain whether I stood a chance. I knew we had biology class together later that day so decided to take another shot then. Then in biology class it must have been obvious to you something was up when I took the desk in front of you. You check me out, so you would've known that was not my usual spot. And then I executed my oh-so-obvious pen drop trick to give you a view of my ass because I caught you starting at it in the morning by the lockers. You took the bait so easily and when I caught you enjoying the view -- as I said you would -- it further confirmed I was right. You did find me attractive. Then in PE class I noticed you kept checking me out -- you looked so hot while doing it by the way. So I decided to pluck up the courage and make my move after PE class. But I thought I'd give you one last tease for the day for good measure before I finally dropped the question. Hence my once again obvious flirtations in the locker room. I admit to enjoying watching you try so hard not to be obvious about trying to check me out and hide your boner. I'm sorry to tell you, Nathan Greene, but you were hella obvious. But the thing is I liked that. Mutual attraction is important, so if I was going to ask you out it was good to know for sure you found me attractive. I sure as hell find you attractive. And based on how you behaved in the locker room it was clearly mutual. So after our shower I decided to end the teasing and ask you out on a date. Much to my delight you agreed. That was a bit of a long-winded answer, but that is the answer to your question of why you're sitting here having an iced coffee with me this afternoon, Nathan Greene." Josh paused a moment and then added with an extra warm smile, "And I really hope you like that answer and are still going to be just as pleased to be sitting here on a date with me as I am being here with you."
Nate knew he was going to have to force himself to actually respond soon. But he allowed himself another brief moment to just lose himself in how happy he was feeling at Josh's revelation. He then squeezed Josh's hand in return and smiled back at him, his smile probably way more goofy than he'd intended it to be because of how happy he was.
Nate finally found his words and managed to simply say, "So I'm sitting here having an iced coffee with you because I'm on a date with you?"
Josh smiled back at him, and responded, "Well ideally I'd like this to be a date." He cocked his one eyebrow and added in a playful tone, "It would mean I'm currently on a date with the cutest boy in the whole school which would be really dope." Josh squeezed Nate's hand again and leaned forward, getting his face closer to Nate's and asked, "So what do you say, Nathan Green -- can we agree to call this a date?"
Nate was sure that if it was physically possible he'd burst with excitement and joy in that moment. He leaned in closer to Josh's face as well and said, "Josh Wright, it's taking every ounce of self-control I possess at the moment not to scream out at the top of my lungs for everyone in a five-mile radius to hear that I'm currently on a date with you, and that I could not possibly be any happier than I am right now in this moment."
Josh let out a very warm and happy chuckle, very pleased that Nate had responded so positively and agreed to this being a date -- glad it was now official that he was on a date with Nathan Greene. "Well I'm not stopping you. In fact I might just have to join in on that scram cause I'm feeling super fucking happy right now as well, all thanks to you."
Fuck, Josh just kept saying the most perfect things thought Nate. He jokingly thought to himself that Josh was going to give him a heart condition with how often he was making his heart flutter today. "Josh, you cannot even begin to imagine how much of a dream come true this is for me. Saying I had a major crush on you is the understatement of the century. Just ask Hayley and she'll confirm how true that is." He paused, recalling how embarrassing some of his gushing to Hayley about Josh had been and suddenly realized that was maybe not the best suggestion. "Scratch that, don't ask Hayley cause I might die of embarrassment at some of the things she could tell you about how hard I've crushed on you. But believe me, there is no person on this planet -- not even the oh-so-dreamy David Corenswet -- who I'd rather be on a date with right now than you." Nate blushed just the slightest and added, "This is my first first date, so I don't have any frame of reference. But I know without a doubt that this is a fucking awesome first date and I could not have wished for better."
Josh's eyes and face also made it clear as daylight that he was also blissfully happy in this moment as well. "Well I'm enormously honored to be your first first date. If I had known I'd have done something more special though, rather than just iced coffee at a local café."
Before Josh could continue Nate cut him off, "Stop right there. This IS perfect to me, Josh. I wouldn't change a thing. Every detail of this moment -- of this whole afternoon -- will be burned in my memory so vividly that for the rest of my life I will practically be able to relive it whenever I want just by thinking back on it. I don't need grand gestures or over the top dates, Josh. I just need you. You and all the sweet things you've said to me today is all that was necessary to make this date perfect to me." He squeezed Josh's hand again, and Josh squeezed back.
They spent over two more hours chatting and getting to know each other better. Nate was finally getting to actually learn who the real Josh was. No longer did he just have to admire Josh superficially from afar for how good looking he was. Now he could ask Josh questions, listen to his stories and begin to really get to know Josh. And with every passing second Nate just became more and more besotted with Josh. On top of looking perfect, Josh was a genuinely nice guy. He was funny, witty and charming. He could have a proper and engaging conversation. Josh certainly did not fit the stereotypical `dumb jock' mold -- he had substance and depth and was an interesting and easy person to be around. Nate -- for what must have been the millionth time -- once again thought how Josh really was just perfect in every way. Fuck, he thought, how did he get so lucky to be on a date with this god amongst men?
And Josh also seemed genuinely interested in getting to know Nate. He asked Nate questions about his life, trying to learn more about who Nathan Greene really was as well. And thankfully it looked like Josh was liking what he was learning about Nate. He listened very attentively to Nate's stories, seeming truly gripped by every word that came from Nate's mouth. He laughed at Nate's jokes and on more than one occasion told Nate he was funny. Josh seemed entirely charmed and captivated by Nate, like there was no one else in the room besides Nate.
During their conversation Nate also mentioned that one of the primary reasons he was reluctant to let himself believe Josh was flirting with him at first was because he thought Josh was straight as he had dated Emily. Josh had responded by pointing out he never told Nate, or anyone else at school for that matter, that he was straight. He was attracted to Emily and was happy with her when they were dating, but that did not automatically mean he was straight. Josh revealed that he was bisexual. He said he never told anyone -- except Emily when they were dating - that he was bisexual because no one ever asked (probably because, like Nate, they just assumed he was straight). Plus, Josh added, until Nate there was no boy he wanted to date so it never came up, until now. But Josh had never lied about his sexuality, was comfortable being bisexual and assured Nate that he would not ask Nate to keep their date or relationship a secret. In fact, Josh joked that he was super proud to be on a date with Nate and would probably tell everyone at school himself to brag about it before they could even find out through the gossip grapevine. Nate breathed a sigh of relief at this -- he was ecstatic that he would not have to keep his happiness a secret and that Josh seemed entirely comfortable being with him and letting everyone know that.
Eventually Nate noticed the time, and while he would have loved to stay there with Josh and never leave this perfect moment behind, he knew he'd have to head home soon. He hadn't told his parents he would not be home for dinner and so they would be expecting him. He didn't want his parents' first impression of Josh to be the guy that made him late for dinner. So, reluctantly, he told Josh they should probably call an end to this date soon.
"Well Nathan Greene, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed to have to end our first date. Cannot believe we've been talking for so long. Just felt so easy talking to you that time flew by." Josh squeezed Nate's hand again and added, "This date has been so much more than I ever could have hoped for. You, Nathan Greene, are by far the coolest person in our school and the coolest person I know. I cannot wait to get to know you even better and spend more time with you. Thanks, Nate, for what truly was -- as you said -- the perfect date."
Nate blushed profusely and assured Josh, once again, that he felt the same. The waiter came over with the bill -- they'd ordered a few more drinks and some small bites to nibble on while they were chatting. Josh took the bill and reached for his wallet. When he saw Nate reach for his wallet too Josh stopped him and said there was not a chance in hell Nate was paying for this. Nate smiled and agreed to let Josh pay, but not before he made Josh promise that he'd let Nate pick up the next bill.
As they got up to walk to Josh's car Nate felt Josh grab his hand again so they could hold hands along the walk. Nate felt those heart flutters again, Josh still made him feel giddy and happy inside right down to the core of his being. Josh drove them back to the school parking lot and parked next to Nate's car which was one of the only ones left in the lot. It was really quiet in the lot this late in the afternoon and no one else was around.
Josh opened his door and started to get out the car. Nate wondered why Josh was getting out. He thought Josh was just going to drop him off and then head home as well since Josh also said he had to get home for dinner that evening. He thought perhaps Josh had left something in his locker and wanted to go get it before he left for home and wrote it off as nothing. But as he walked around the back of Josh's car, there was Josh standing and looking at him. Nate stopped in his tracks. Even though he'd now been on a date with Josh he was still taken aback by how hot Josh looked just standing there. Josh was still drop dead gorgeous to Nate and with the right smile could still make Nate weak in the knees.
Josh smiled at Nate, suddenly a little mischievously, and said, "I had to get out the car so I could do this properly."
Nate was about to ask Josh what he meant, but before he could Josh stepped right up to Nate. He was standing right in front on Nate, totally invading Nate's personal space -- not that Nate minded at all, of course. Nate suddenly realized what was about to happen. His heart began to flutter harder than it ever had earlier that day. Scratch that, Nate's heart began to flutter more than it had in his entire life up to this point. He could not believe this was about to happen -- Josh Wright was about to kiss him! Nate never wanted anything more in his life than to feel Josh's lips against his in that moment.
Josh cupped his large, tanned hand on Nate's soft cheek, cocked his head to the side and began to move in for the kiss. Nate closed his eyes in anticipation. Time seemed to stop for Nate. He thought of nothing and no one in that moment but Josh. It was as if the entire rest of the universe had suddenly disappeared and all that was left in it was him and Josh right here right now in this moment. It felt like an eternity waiting for Josh's lips to reach his -- but a blissful and perfect eternity. Nate was in no mood to rush this moment and thoroughly gave himself over to the moment to enjoy it fully. He knew this was another moment that would be seared in his memory for as long as he lived.
And then suddenly and all at once it happened -- Nate felt Josh's soft pink lips touch his own. An energy like he'd never experienced before suddenly coursed through his entire body and lit up every fiber of his being -- from the tips of every strand of hair on his head down to the soles of his feet. He didn't know exactly how to describe it, but he felt more alive in that moment than he'd ever felt before. It was as if Josh had awoken something inside him -- a part of his existence he had not known was there before, but which had suddenly been jolted awake the moment Josh's lips touched his. He gave himself over to the kiss. He'd never kissed anyone before, but in that moment it didn't matter. He was not nervous or worried he'd screw it up. This moment was too perfect, and he felt he couldn't screw it up even if he tried. He just let it happen and enjoyed it. He then felt Josh's tongue prod at his lips. He opened up and let Josh in. It was a new sensation, having someone else's tongue in his mouth. Not at all how he'd imagined it. But it felt better than he'd imagined it would. Again, he just gave himself over and let Josh lead the kiss since Josh had more experience. Josh expertly kissed him, using just the right amount of tongue and making Nate go completely weak in the knees. Josh must have felt this because suddenly his other hand wrapped around Nate's back and supported him while at the same time pulling Nate even deeper into their kiss. Nate decided to try mimic what Josh was doing with his tongue and soon his tongue gained entry into Josh's mouth too. He gingerly explored Josh's mouth, somehow instinctively knowing not to use too much tongue or be too forceful. The kiss seemed to go on for an eternity, but in reality probably only lasted less than a minute.
Josh pulled away and looked back into Nate's eyes. There was a spark of something in Josh's eyes which Nate had never before seen in them. It was like a spark of wonder. In that moment, without either of them having to say anything, Nate knew purely from looking into Josh's eyes that the kiss was as magical for Josh as it had been for him. He smiled, really pleased at knowing that they had both shared in that special moment together.
"Wow!" Josh whispered eventually, still never having broken eye contact with Nate since their kiss ended. He still had a look of wonder and awe on his face, a look Nate knew was mirrored on his own. "All I can say is, wow. Kissing you, Nathan Greene, it's just ... wow!" For once it was Josh that seemed to be at a loss for words.
Nate then smiled warmly and leaned his forehead against Josh's and whispered, "I know, I felt it too, Josh." Josh pulled him in closely for a tight hug. All Nate could smell was Josh and it was perfect. Josh gave him a final squeeze before releasing Nate and stepping back a bit.
There was a brief moment of silence as they just looked at each other. It wasn't awkward, just perfect. Then suddenly Josh gave Nate a wicked and smug grin and cocked his one eyebrow in a sexy and seductive way. Before Nate could ask what Josh was thinking Josh said, "I'm a man of my word, Nathan Greene! I promised I'd please you as well today before this date was done. And I just KNOW you're very pleased after that kiss which can only be described as magical." He then glanced, down at Nate's crotch where there was a very prominent and evident bulge straining against the front Nate's pants. Josh chucked and continued, "And by the looks of things I've pleased you quite a lot."
Nate laughed. He was not embarrassed at all and made no attempt to cover his boner. He wanted Josh to know that he had that effect on him. He no longer had to hide that from Josh anymore and was so happy about that. In fact, he couldn't wait to let Josh see up close and without the confines of clothing exactly how pleased Josh could make him feel -- the thought that he may now actually get to do that soon almost made him weak in the knees again, but also left him with a smug and wicked grin of his own on his face.
"Oh you more than lived up to your word, Josh -- you can count me as VERY pleased." Nate then glanced down at Josh's own prominently bugling crotch. "And seems like you weren't lying either about leaving the `big' to a certain other department," Nate said flashing Josh his most seductive grin.
Josh was still wearing his cocky grin as he said, "Like I said, I'm a man of my word." He came up real close to Nate again and continued, "However, I think I'll have to let you do your own assessment of that as well sometime soon -- preferably without the confines of clothes. And I expect you to be as thorough as you usually are." Josh winked as he said the last part.
Nate chuckled, "Oh I assure you I intend to be VERY thorough during that inspection." He looked deep into Josh's eyes and still couldn't believe how lucky he was that he could do that now. Yesterday morning he couldn't. Now he could and he never wanted to stop. But he knew he had to and that he really should get going.
"I think I need a goodbye kiss, and then I promise I'll let you go even though I really don't want to," said Josh.
Nate smiled sweetly. "You can have as many kisses as you want from me, Josh." And with that he swooped in for their goodbye kiss. It sent shockwaves through Nate again. Fuck, he thought, kissing Josh might become a serious addiction for him if it always felt this good.
They pulled away from the kiss and were just about to force themselves to get into their respective cars and head home for the evening. But just before they did Josh suddenly asked Nate for his phone. Nate handed Josh his iPhone thinking he knew where this was going. Josh took it and realized it was locked. He turned it around to face Nate again so it would unlock using FaceID. Nate could see Josh typing a bit. Suddenly there was a buzz in Josh's pocket as his own phone went off.
Josh handed Nate's phone back to him and said, "I've put my number in there. I took the liberty of texting myself as well so I have your number too. He grabbed Nate's free hand, "We may have to part ways right now, but at least this way I can still get it touch with you even when we're apart." He smiled at Nate, "I'll text you goodnight before bed, sound good?" he asked Nate.
"Sounds perfect," responded Nate with a sweet smile.
"Great," responded Josh, clearly pleased at Nate's response. "And I'll see you again tomorrow, Nathan Greene."
Finally each of them returned to their own cars and drove off to their respective homes. Nate realized he was smiling the whole drive home again. At one point he actually screamed out loud to himself in the car, "I kissed Josh Wright! I went on a date with him and kissed Josh Wright!" He just had to let out some of the excitement that was pent up inside him after all of today's amazing events. He couldn't wait to call Hayley later that evening and tell her the good news. He absolutely needed to tell someone else what had happened today and she deserved to be the first to know.
Nathan Greene had been on a date with Josh Wright today. Nathan Greene had kissed Josh Write today. Nathan Greene was on top of the world!
