To those who've been reading Tales of Sol. I want you to know that while there is sex in this story. That is not is sole purpose and yes I do hope the sex sense makes you all hard and gets you off.

Sol is an adaption from my childhood favorite show Captain Planet and the Planeteers, The cartoon showed us that the world can be a better place if we took a few moments to care for it.

Tales of Sol is meant to express hope.

It is also shows how music can have an impact in our lives. While I don't know if my favorite bands 98 Degrees, Backstreet Boys or Nsync have ever read this. They saw me through some of the hardest moments of my life and offered in their own way hope. To them I say thank you.

I dedicate the Tales of Sol to all of my brothers and sisters of the US armed service past, present, and future.

I like to thank my friends who I had the privilege showing these chapters with. They helped with editing and inspiration,

The Tales of Sol 45 Fates behind the Wheel

I got up the next morning after grabbing a shower my room phone was ringing. By the time I got out it was Kevin telling me that breakfast will be arriving soon, I told him I would be there. I got dressed and made my way to the common room where Nick opened it before I could even knock "Damn I thought you the food," he grumbled

"I am sorry to disappoint you," I smirked

"Layoff Nick," Howie growled

"Sorry, Mike, lions, tigers and bears have nothing compared to a hungry Nick," AJ snickered

"Oh my," I halfhearted wiped sweat from my brow

This made everyone laugh but Nick he just grumbled

When Brian opened the door Nick head shot up and you could see the look of disappointment appear on the scold on his face "Woo Nick I am sorry I am not the food carter," Brian laughed

And just as he closed the door there was a knock "That better be the food," Nick grumbled.

Brian opened the door and turned to me "Ah Mike you've got company," I was just as shocked as everyone when I got up.

I was sort of expecting to see Rob Thomas but was surprised when I saw Rogue and Storm standing there but I knew that duty was calling. "I thought I was going to meet you guys at the school?" I asked as I closed the door behind me Brian had joined us cursing the Fates and their incredibly terrible timing.

"We are but the Professor request your help," Storm informed me

"Wait I haven't had the chance to talk to my boyfriend this morning," Brian spoke up

'Boyfriend did he just call me his boyfriend?' I asked myself this made me more nervous then even revealing that I have Godlike powers.

"Normally, we wouldn't do this Sugar, but this mutant is very strong and we need someone equally as strong to stop him," Rogue said sympathetically in a typical southern accent and southern demeanor.

I closed my eye trying to find the mutant but Rogue stopped me "We don't need help finding him we need help fighting him,"

"But, why Mike?" Brian demanded

"Because the Mother is summoning me to duty," I told him without thinking

"The Mother?" Brian asked

"I'll tell you all when I get back," I told them

"Just be careful and I expect to be told everything," Brian hugged me then let me go.

I left with the mutants just as breakfast had arrived. "Damn, you guys have a terrible sense of timing?" I huffed

"We are sorry," Storm apologized

"Not only, was I not ready to reveal to Brian I had powers, but I also missed breakfast," I retorted

"Whoops, next time we will tell danger to wait until after breakfast," Rogue joked

"Yeah, yeah," I snorted

We exited the hotel and I asked, "How did you get here anyway?"

"We flew, Sugar," Rogue answered as Storm took off followed by Rogue looking around to make sure no one could see. I just shook my head. Looking around to make sure no one could see I changed my regular clothes to my Guardian suit and since no one knew that the Guardian could fly. I pulled out my grappling gun and fired halfway there. We landed at a mall, fortunately it was still early and no one was here yet so I then asked, "So what is the name of this mutant anyway?"

"Juggernaut," Rogue answered

"Wonderful," I sighed

"Yes and this where the Professor said he should be here," Storm spoke up.

As if to answer, the Mother just sent me a ping and I brought my hand up forming a column of air just in time to catch Wolverine as he came our way.

"Juggernaut?" I asked the obvious

"Yes," He grumbled

"No time to waste, Cyclops and Jean are in there with the Juggernaut," Wolverine stated as he took off again with his metal claws fully extended and he charged back into the fight.

I followed the mutants into the mall where I saw Cyclops and Phoenix were both fighting what I could only describe as Man Mountain in metal clothing. Cyclops fired a blast from his visor striking the Juggernaut's metal chest which absorbed the blast. In response the metal man came back swinging catching Cyclops in the jaw sending him flying several feet.

Rogue flew in "Come on big boy let's see what you got," Her southern accent was very pronounced.

She swung at the Juggernaut but didn't seem fazed by it and socked her in the jaw and she flew backwards and right into Wolverine.

Seeing that I was the only one left standing I sighed "It seems that it's my turn at bat," To myself I thanked the Mother for with out the Earth this was suicide for a normal person.

"Now, now that is no way to treat a lady," I said

"Move aside pipsqueak," The giant sneered as he took a swing at me. I easily dodged his massive fist by changing myself into mist then said, "Now, it isn't that I take life for granite, but you should," I said as I changed my left fist into granite. Bringing my fist around I socked him hard in the right side of his massive helmet sending him flying through the mall's outer wall and into the parking lot.

"Wow you really are hardheaded," I stated as I shook my hand as the impact made my hand hurt a little.

"Nice one punk, but you need to work on you punts," Wolverine smirked

"I'll remember that," I said as we left the mall.

We all ran outside, and were met by a very unfriendly street lamp hitting all of us at once. I flew back into the side of the mall and I felt some of my bones crack along with the bricks behind me. Groaning in pain I tried to get up but I was forced back down by the Juggernaut when he punched me in the stomach. It felt like I was being hit with a sledgehammer. All of the air left my lungs and I was getting dizzy.

"No pipsqueak is going to make a fool out of the Juggernaut,"

He hit me in the stomach and caused me to spit up blood 'Mother help me!' I thought my vision began to blur and I thought I was going to blackout.

When the Juggernaut swung again I managed to turn myself into mist again causing him to hit the mall instead. Floating out to where Juggernaut had dropped the street light then reforming back to my human self, I allowed the sun to help heal most of my injuries.

Despite my injuries I still had strength left in me, picking up the lamp post, "For every action there is an equal reaction," I stated, taking to the air I flew back to Juggernaut and wounded up.

"Fore!" I cried striking Juggernaut sending him flying to the other side of the parking lot. I fell to the ground clutching my left side, I might be healing that didn't mean I was free from pain. I felt my wounds cry out. Rogue and Jean were there helping me back up. The Earth was healing my injuries as fast as she could,

"You can fly too?" Wolverine grumbled in tone that told me he wasn't surprised

"I didn't want to be too much of a showoff," I winced in pain

"I don't care what you can really do just as long as we win," Wolverine gruff voice smirked

When the ground began shaking we saw the Juggernaut was back on his feet and was running back at us.

"His helmet we need to get his helmet off," Jean said

"Leave it to me then," I wheezed

"Are you sure?" Jean asked

"Yes, Storm hit me with a bolt of lightning," I commanded. My voice was still a bit crackly but I felt the Mother healing the worst of my wounds.

"Are you sure?" Storm asked

"There's no time to argue if my plan is going to work," I said getting up. Storm shot a bolt of Lightning at me and I caught it in my left hand. The energy from the lightning restored most of my energy and healed even more of my injuries.

"Now pipsqueak you will feel the fury of the Juggernaut!" We all saw him running back to us and at his speed plus his weight he'd flatten all of us.

"And you are about to feel the wrath of Mother Nature," I said back as I put my hands together, amplifying the lightning bolt with the strength of three I blasted the Juggernaut with it.

Juggernaut was sent flying back to the other side of the parking lot. I snapped my fingers and appeared where he would land. I grabbed hold of Juggernaut's ankles before he hit the ground,

"Okay Juggy we are going for a little spin?" I said as together we spun in a circle until a tornado formed around us. My twister also picked up the loose dirt and pavement as it formed

As the debris struck his helmet it loosen up enough for the force of the winds generated by the twister to rip the Juggernaut's helmet off his shoulders. Dissolving the twister we both came back to Earth, but I landed gently where the Juggernaut made a small crater where he landed. In my hands was the Juggernaut's helmet "Now who's the pipsqueak?" I laughed

Climbing out of the pit and in fury Juggernaut yelled, "Give it back it's mine!" He demanded

"Now why on Earth would I do that?" I asked I look into the wide blue yonder, in a mighty thrust I hurled his helmet into orbit

"If you are lucky it will come back in the next 10 to 20 years," I laughed as the Juggernaut let out a loud growl and he came up to me and punched me in the stomach again causing me to drop like a dead weight. He then ran off. I didn't take up the chase deciding to let the Earth's healing powers go to work.

"Are you okay?" Jean asked

"I got to remember there are consequences to being smart aleck," I chuckled around my pain

"Yes there are those who don't responded well to sarcasm," Wolverine snickered in his gruff voice

When Jean and Rogue tried to help me back to my feet holding up my hand to stop her from moving me.

"Don't move me just yet the Earth is taking care of my injuries," I told her

I laid there for a moment until I was sufficiently healed while I was still a little tender. I allowed them to help me back up. "Are you going to be okay?" Storm asked

"Yes, so, I will see you all at school later right?" I replied

"You bet it," Cyclops smiled

"Hey bub you are quite the fighter, I am just glad you are on our side," Wolverine grumbled as he slapped me on the shoulder

"I have my moments," I commented

I made my way back to our hotel where Brian was waiting for me. I got there several hours later. I took my time trying to formulate a way to tell Brian when I got to the main lobby he was there. Silently we entered the elevator. I could feel he was relieved I was okay but he now wanted answers. We got to his room. Nick wasn't there at the moment.

"Come in Mike," I heard I felt like I was going before my CO at this moment, "I've been wondering if you were going to come back," Brian whispered

"I wasn't sure you wanted me to come back," I responded looking at the floor hoping to find some comfort in the soft carpet.

"I want answers," He softly spoke

I sighed this is not what I wanted to talk about at least not yet any way, "Damn Fates!" I swore

"Where would you like me to begin?" I asked

"The beginning" Brian asked

"Damn! Mother! why?" I cursed

I sighed not wanting to discuss this now in fact I'd rather be talking about anything else but this.

It seems that I needed to take a leap of faith here and trust the Earth and God for that matter are guiding me to this moment.

"Just tell me what happened? And why did you have to go help mutants fight another when you should have been here?" Brian demanded

"By the Mother's Hand," I swallowed a couple of times trying to form words then I said "Brian what do you think of mutants?"

"I think that they are what they are," Brian responded

"Mike, are you a mutant?" Brian questioned by the tone in his voice I sensed no form of prejudice towards mutants which was a good sign.

"No, I am not, but I must ask what do you think of supernatural forces?" I responded with another question.

"My faith in God is absolute; he made many things possible, so I don't think anything is beyond his reach ," Brian spoke up.

Hearing him speak of the Father made me worry for most who believe in one divine has a hard time in accepting anything that might contradict what they were taught.

"By the Mother's Hand this sucks," I swore again I wanted to be anywhere but here.

"Who is this Mother you keep evoking?" Brian inquired

"She is the giver of life and protector of God's children," I spoke feeling the Earth around me as she lent me her strength. She knew what she was doing and I had to put my trust in her.

"She, is one and many, she is patient and loving," I smiled

"She, is power and strength, she is the Earth," I replied

"What does the Earth have to do with this?" Brian asked and for the first time I felt like he was really interested and not disgusted.

"Everything, Brian everything." I spoke

"Mike what are you trying to tell me?" Brian quizzed

"I have powers, Brian," I told him

"What?" Brian stammered

"Brian I am becoming the Earth's newest champion," I replied

Brian just looked at me with the most amazing eyes they seem to reflect in the low light.

"The connection with the Earth began in a moment of desperation and faith," I told him

"And thanks to that connection I have been asked by the Earth itself," my voice gained strength the more I explained

"What did the Earth ask you to do?" Brian asked as he tried to piece it all together.

"She asked me to be her guardian, to protect her all children both great and small," I answered as best as I could

Brian just looked at me waiting for me to continue.

"Brian I don't know how else to explain it," I confessed

"So you're some sort of uber guy?" Brian asked

"That and more, I am a step down from a God and several steps above mutants," I answered

"Sort of the middle man?" Brian smiled

"Exactly," I replied

"So how strong are you?" Brian asked his intrigue had peaked and I saw that he was more interested than ever.

"I don't know," I confessed

"Why not?" Brian questioned

"Because I don't yet have all my powers yet," I answered

"Why not?" Brian asked

"Gaia," I started to say but Brian interrupted, "Gaia as in?"

"The Spirit of the Earth," I finished

"As in Captain Planet and the Planeteers?" Brian gasped as he was making sure he heard right

"The one and the same," I acknowledged

"Earth's champion?" Brian whispered.

"Gaia didn't want to overload me with powers before I was ready for them,"

"Brian one of the reasons I agreed to come here, is because Professor Xavier can help me control my powers better than I can on my own," I told him

"Jeff? Did he know?" Brian asked

"Yes he did as did the of 98 Degrees," I replied

He thought for a minute "Our predator? are your powers, the reason that you can even sense him to begin with?"

"Sort of," I replied

"I really did hone my senses Brian," I told him

"I don't doubt it but there is more to it then that isn't it?" Brian asked

"Yes all of my powers and senses are working hand in hand," I answered

"So with the powers you have now what can you do?" Brian asked

"I can control and enhance my sight I can see most forms of light and through most forms of materials," I informed

He just sat and listen "I can hear pretty much everything if I wanted to," I corrected

"Like what?" Brian asked getting excited

"Well AJ is on the phone with his girlfriend," I laughed

"That's wicked," Brian laughed

"Brian I really hadn't planned on telling you anything until I thought you were ready," I confessed

"Why?" He quizzed

"I didn't want to frighten you," I told him

"Was this another reason you were afraid of getting close to me?" Brian asked

"Yes," I answered

"I was afraid you would think I was a freak of Nature," I sobbed

"And I have to say your belief in the Father would make you want to turn your back on me," I confessed

Brian saw where I was going with this and he shook his head dismissing the very notion, but not by denying his faith, "My belief in God is that he sends us people in our lives for a reason," Brian countered

"He gives all of us powers and a purpose and if he wants you to guard his creation who am I to question it," Brian spoke

"Is it that simple for you?" I asked incredibly

Brian nodded in agreement "Mike, we are all, God's creation man and world alike and I have no doubt in my mind that all of this is as much his design as it is Earth's herself," Brian answered

"Thank you Brian," I teared up

"Thank you for your understanding," I sighed

"It is funny I felt you had a love greater than me, and I never counted on it being for the world," Brian commented

"No Brian that is where you got it wrong," I countered

"Oh?" Brian gauged

"Does your love for the Father mean you love me any less?" I asked

"Of course not," Brian answered

"The same goes, for me and the Mother," I supplied

"So your love for the Earth is," Brian prompted

"Is the same love you have for God," I smiled

"So I don't have to fight for your affection?" Brian wondered

"Never I love the Earth but I am in love with you Brian Littrell," I answered

Brian grabbed me "You are a very brave person," then I heard his stomach growling.

"The guys are expecting us for lunch," Brian said

"Good because I missed breakfast," I said as my own stomach grumbled

We left Brian's room and made our way to the common room just as we entered

Nick screamed, "Way to go Mike!"

"What?" I asked

"You've snatched Brian," Howie pointed to our hands

I looked down to see that Brian was holding my hand.

"Uh guys you?" Brian blushed

"Well it is about damn time," Nick laughed

"What?" I asked,

"You two were so comical in your avoidance of each other," AJ snickered

"What?" Brian and I gasped at the same time

"You two were so obvious it was amazing it took this long," Howie snickered

"Who made the first move?" AJ asked

Brian blushing gave him away.

"What are you all talking about?" I inquired

"Oh nothing we have been seeing Brian moping around ever since he saw you and we were all wondering how long you two were going to keep it up." Howie remarked

We both blushed "I am sorry Brian,"

"No it is I who should apologize," Brian responded

"Oh will you two quit it and go on a date already," AJ laughed

I blushed big time then joined in the laughter.

"What do you say Brian you want to go on a date?" I asked.

"I can't see why not the guys are ready demanding it," Brian agreed with a chuckle.

"Yeah!" Nick cheered as he got up, ran at us and grabbed us in a bear hug.

After pushing his little friend out of his way and then moving Brian aside Kevin went to give me a hug.

"Welcome to the family," Kevin said, giving me a hug.

"Thank you Kevin, but we are only dating we haven't married," I reminded him

"That smile on his face is your doing and that is all I need to see, you are now family Mike and you are stuck with us," Kevin smiled

His words touched me deeply and for the first time in a long time I felt like I belonged somewhere.

Kevin then asked, "Are we all just going to just stand here or are we going to sit?"

"Either works for me," AJ smirked "By the way Mike you really should try to catch a subway to school it is an experience you will never forget," AJ made sure to note

"I will try it before I leave New York," I reassured him.

After lunch they had to practice and I had to get back to learning from the X-Men while I waited for Frank to come for me after seeing the guys off I needed to talk to Dave, I made my way to the balcony while I waited for Dave to pick up, When he finally did his first question was "How are things going?" "They are going exactly as the Mother had planned," While I told him everything that had happened, even telling him about my confession to Brian. I noticed something on the side of the hotel's exterior wall. There were claw marks in the concrete slab. I thought to myself what animal has the strength to leave such deep claw marks in concrete. I knew vampires could but they weren't usually in the form of a slashing motion and like humans most had five digits these were in the set of three which not many creatures on Earth had so few fingers or toes I knew some sect of vampires had such digits but these again didn't seem to be their type of claw marks it was a puzzle. Putting this to the back of my mind for later research. I told Dave that Brian knew my secret.

"I thought you didn't want to tell him yet?" Dave laughed

"I wasn't but the damn Fates stepped in," I told him I explained how Rogue and Storm came to our hotel so I could help them with the Juggernaut.

"I am relieved it happened and Brian reacted the way he did, you don't want that kind of thing hovering over your budding relationship," Dave stated

"So, how are things on the Philly front?" I redirected myself to Dave trying to keep the worry out of my voice.

"Elizar is still at large and the Watcher's Council don't have a clue on how to find him," Dave told me

"What about the probes? There is very little chance he can hide from them, have they picked up anything?" I asked

"No, even they haven't been able to spot him he is he is lying very low or he's left the area," Dave answered

"Jake is are really shaping up you were right to bring him on board," Dave told me

"And don't say anything but I think Jake and Rachel are really hitting off," Dave informed me

"That is not that surprising, Jake was never able to keep his hands off a beautiful lady," I laughed

There was a knock at my door "I got to go Dave that is Frank he is going to be dropping me off,"

When we hung up Frank and I made our way to the SUV as we began to drive off Frank turned to me, "Mike I know what goes on in that school you are attending,"

"I don't know what you are referring to," I deflected

"Mike I make it my business to know all there is that can threaten this band including the natural and supernatural," Frank said

"Frank," I started to say "I don't care what special powers you seem to have, I only need to see how you use them," Frank interrupted

"To date you have save not only the Backstreet Boys but everyone here," Frank said

"Not everyone," I said without thinking

"That was not your doing that was the work of assholes," Frank knew what I was referring to

"It is not my place to judge you Mike but you have come through when it counted and if these guys can help you further then I will drive you here everyday if it means you can keep doing what you are doing," Frank spoke as we pulled up to Xavier's school

"Thanks Frank all will be reveal when I know what it is I am still trying to understand myself," I told him

I entered the building and was greeted by Xavier, "I also want to thank you for your help this morning,"

"It was nothing," I told him

"I hope it didn't cause you any trouble with your friends?" Xavier asked

"A small problem but I was able to resolve it just not how I had planned on it," I informed him

"I do apologizes for the inconvenience but it was necessary," Professor X responded I knew he meant it

"All that happened was a convergence of events that finally collided so that the next string of events can happen," I responded

"So Mike, how was your morning?" Scott asked as he walked up to Xavier and I.

"Well I will leave you two," Xavier walked off

"Morning Scott," I greeted "What is on the agenda today?" I asked

"We are going test everyone's powers," Scott said

"Great, that is what I need help with myself," I told Scott

"What is that?" Scott asked

"I still don't know what I can do," I responded

"Dave, has helped in this regard, but we only begun to test them," I explained

"We often get new mutants who have the same trouble," Scott acknowledged

"I still don't know the true scope of what I can do," I explained

"What areas in particular do you need help in?" Scott asked

"I know I am strong but I don't know how strong," I further explained

Scott took in all the information "All of my senses have been changed and are still changing," I explain how my sight and hearing have changed and are continuing to change. "I receive Pings from the Earth and I need to better hone them," I answered

"Sounds like you have a lot of ground to cover there," Scott noted

"Too much I feel like this is just the tip of the iceberg who know what is below the surface," I acknowledged

"How about we set you up in the Danger Room test you if you like," Scott suggested

"That would be great how about we start with my senses," I agreed

"Mike I have seen you take on the Sentinels, it takes three of us just to take one down," Scott remarked "I don't think you even worked up a sweat," Scott scoffed

I laughed, "But it would be good to see what else, I can do against those overgrown windup toys," I growled at there in the end

Scott set me up in the Danger Room at my request. It was completely dark. One of the first senses I wanted to test was my hearing. About five minutes have already passed.

"Okay Mike I will monitor from here," I heard coming out of complete darkness, instead of getting nervous I carefully sat down and closed my eyes then took a deep breath. Slowly I could hear the distant sounds of the computers as the bleeps and blips of the various processing and other computer controlled functions.

From the booth Scott watched me and despite the lack of light he could see me perfectly. "Scott, why is Mike sitting in the dark?" He turned to see Jean Gray enter the control room.

"At Mike's request we are testing his senses. right now even though it looks like he is just sitting there, I believe he is actually testing his hearing,"

"Is that so?" Jean had asked

"Yes, Mike told me even though his senses have been enhanced he just never fully tested them," Scott told her

The more relaxed I got the more I was able to pick up, from there I tried to see if I could separate what I was listening to. I could make out the different computers that controlled different sections of the Danger Room. I then picked up Scott and Jean as they discussed the test Scott was performing on me.

I smiled then I pushed beyond the Danger Room and I could hear the rest of the school. I could hear the classes going on and was able to pick up on various conversations throughout the school, I could select which person I wanted to hear. But I didn't actually listen. I turned my attention to outside the mansion. I could hear the winds in the trees and the animals as they went about their life. I finally brought my hearing back to the Danger Room.

The next step was my sight. I opened my eyes and looked around. It was still pitch black. Closing my eyelids and opening them again and I could see in infrared.

"What is he doing now?" Jean asked

"Not too sure," Scott confessed

I heard them talking and used it to guide me to the booth looking right at it I said, "I am testing my sight right now I can hear you guys up there in the control booth," I said over their speaker I could hear them gasp but not through the speakers.

"Wow, he did say he had good hearing," Scott chuckled

Xavier entered the control room "What are you two up to?"

"We are helping Mike with his senses, and apparently he is testing his sight," Jean answered

"So Mr Pennock is in the Danger Room doing what?" Xavier asked

"Sitting in total darkness listening to us monitoring him, and now he tests his sight," Scott answered

"I see and what do we know so far about that?" Xavier asked

"He was able to hear us talk about him, and not through the radio or intercom," Jean spoke

"Remarkable what about his sight?" Xavier asked

"I can see in infrared Professor, I can even see through the mansion, and right now Wolverine is losing a game of basketball to a pair of youths," I answered

That startled Xavier "I told you he can hear us up here," Scott chuckled

I was enjoying watching Wolverine playing with the students, but a couple of objects above their heads at 2 o'clock in the sky caught my attention and they weren't Boeing 747s, not even close.

Both Xavier and Jean seem to sense something from Mike "What is Mr Pennock?" Xavier asked

"We have inbound, Sentinels are coming this way here Professor," I warned them

That got everyone's attention "How many and how far?" Scott demanded

"At least five and they are coming from the south about 7 miles closing fast," I replied

"Wow! I didn't know you could see that far?" Jean gasped

"I can do 20 miles easy Jean," I smirked

"Later Jean, we need to get the students to safety, Scott round up the X-Men, and prepare for battle," Xavier ordered

"Yes Professor," They both said and left the control room

"They forgot to turn on the lights," I said as I made my way to the door as it opened I was out of the Danger Room.

"Mr Pennock thank you for telling us we will take it from here," Xavier remarked

"They were in such a hurry they forgot to turn the lights on, I am joining this battle," I told him

"Oops," I heard them say "We couldn't ask you to," Xavier stated

"Hey I need to test my powers, what better way then testing them on those perversion of technology," I answered

"This isn't a test Mr Pennock those Sentinels are very dangerous, and Mr Matthews would be quite upset if we let anything happen to you," Xavier remarked "Not mention Mr Littrell, he would be hurt if anything happened to you,"

"Professor he is more then a match for them, and this is before he was testing his powers," Scott said as he ran past us rounding up the X-Men

"Don't worry Professor it is the Sentinels you should worry about and the last time I checked you needed new siding for your school," I smirked in a bright flash of light my workout clothes were gone I was now the Guardian.

I came along side Wolverine, Iceman, Rogue and Storm, "Nice of you to finally join us," Wolverine complained

"I had to change," I replied as I pulled the hood up "I can't get my street clothes dirty you know," I stated the obvious

"I guess," Wolverine grumbled. We turned to see the Sentinels coming at us. They fired as soon as they saw the school and an explosion filled the air as the ground all around us was pulverized and dirt rained down on us. I was the only one still standing when the dust settled, everyone else was thrown to the ground.

"That is one way to announce yourselves," I said as another barrage came my way, I managed to dodge two more laser blasts, got my hands up in time to block two more they bounced off my hands and back at the two Sentinels knocking them over.

"Have a taste of your own medicine," I growled as more laser fire came at me. I jumped out of the way. I managed to get close to a Sentinel it reached down at me "It would be rude if I didn't shake hands,"as I grabbed its hand, "Just trying to say hello," I shook it lifting the Sentinel off its feet

"In the words of a cute cartoon character," I said "Bamm, bamm," I slammed the Sentinel against the ground in front of me then behind me. Then I swung it around into his companion and they exploded on contact. "You such a tough big guy picking on people smaller than you,"

"With him here, why are we?" Iceman commented as they watched me pickup a Sentinel with ease. "Head I win, Tails you win," I said as the Sentinel flipped over and over until its head it the ground and exploded

"Heads it is," I turned to see the two remaining Sentinels both of them fired on the mansion it was struck and the east wing took damage as one of its walls exploded and several panes of glass shattered

"It is not nice to vandalize someone's home," I growled. I found one of the heads of a destroyed mechanical nightmare. I saw Wolverine on the back of one Sentinel while Scott shot a red beam at the one on his left.

Picking up the head "Hey Scott heads up," I threw it at his Sentinel and the head struck the metal giant in the chest and it exploded a second later.

Scott had managed to duck for safety before the Sentinel was destroyed, "When you said heads up I wasn't expecting you to literally throw a one at me," Scott complained

"Pay back for leaving me in the dark in the Danger Room," I laughed

"Beside I wasn't aiming for you Scott those two need to butt heads anyway," I stated as I helped him back up to his feet.

Just then a shadow hovered over us. I looked up to see a Sentinel with its foot raised. I pushed Scott out of the way just as everything went black.

Getting up from where he was thrown Cyclops and the X-Men all watched as Guardian was stomped flat "Man that is not the way I'd want to go," Wolverine groaned

"He came here to train with us and we got him killed," Jean began to cry just as the Sentinel's foot was being pushed up

"Talking about putting your foot down," I said as I pushed the Sentinel off of me. "How would you like it if I stepped on you?" I said as I jumped onto the Sentinel's other foot I looked up in time to see a hand coming at me only for it to be shot off. I turned to see Scott's visor glowing. I jumped off the Sentinel just in time for Cyclops to blast a hole in the robotic nightmare. The robot fell forward and exploded looking around the only thing still standing were the X-Men and myself.

All that was left were sizzling circuits and debris "Guys when I asked to be tested I though we only use holograms," I remarked

"Nothing like real life situations to put you to the test," Wolverine smirked

Looking back at the Sentinel remains as they sizzled and steamed once again I groaned "What is wrong now?" Wolverine complained

"I hated it when people leave litter just lying around," I told him, indicating the sizzling remains of the Sentinels.

"Don't sweat it Sugar, we can see to the waste removal Guardian you have already done enough," Rogue waved off the complaint.

"I can't just leave this mess, after all I created it," I told them.

"No the Sentinels did when they attacked us you were just kind enough to lend us your aid," Cyclops indicated as everyone came out of the mansion and began to pick up the trash.

"We've gotten this bub we are used to having to clean up after the tin men," Wolverine said as he picked up rubble.

"I did promise the Professor I give you guys some new aluminum siding for the mansion," I said as I went to two of the fallen Sentinels and moving at speeding I never knew I could, I flew up over and around the Sentinels' remains and in minutes there was a pile of aluminum siding, couple of benches, and assortment of sporting equipment "Sorry I got a little carried away," I said sheepishly

"That's what I call recycling," Wolverine smirked "I needed a new baseball bat anyway," Wolverine smirked picking up one out of the pile

"At least the Sentinels are good for something," I smirked,

"And apparently they make great aluminum siding too, thanks for the material, Mike, we will take it from here," Scott thanked

"Okay, okay I don't want to overstay my welcome," I said shaking Cyclops's hand

on a side note all of this takes places after the events of 9/11 just so you all have a sense of chronological order and understanding. I began writing Sol after reading Tales of a Real Dark Knight while I was still in the Navy and have been working on it for the last 13 or so years.

I also recommend the following stories it was because of them I got into writing in the first place.

"Tales of a Real Dark Knight" by authorjames

"Marvel Knights" also by authorjames

"Tales of the New Phoenix" by Blake

"Tales of a Superhero Band" by Leo

"Tales of a Young Mutant" by Jeremi

"Tales of a Thunder God" by Tony Justiss

Next: Chapter 46
