Part Five
By Chrissy and Peyton
Taylor and Johnny were recognized as one of the top country songwriting duos and had many request from various artists to write songs for them. Taylor had realized her dream of being successful and was doing extremely well financially. Her passion was still to sing but she knew where her talents were and she had come to peace with writing and not performing.
State College was putting together a reunion fundraiser in the basketball arena trying to bring in big name artists to perform. They reached out to Taylor hoping she would come to the concert and sing some of her songs since she was an alumni who made it big. She agreed to come and sing for a half an hour bowing to the named artist to have their time. Taylor's mom was to be there too. Johnny thought it was a great idea and helped Taylor secure some named artist to play. One artist and the one that would play before Taylor, they had written several songs for and had taken one song into the top ten. He also was a good friend of both Taylor and Johnny's.
Amy Willows had returned to her home town of Millington upon graduating from college. She worked in the short term care unit that was for non life threatening patients and non geriatrics who were there for illness or lesser injuries. While she loved working as a nurse her passion was to work in the critical care or neo natal unit but neither was available to her upon graduating.
She had been there a year and she had made good friends with many of the other nurses and staff at the hospital. They would often try to set her up on dates though she had resisted their efforts up till now. Her relationship with Taylor Jackson in college had her questioning her lifelong dreams of getting married to a wonderful husband, having a home, and raising a family. She never really got over Taylor though she had tried her best to put her out of her mind. She knew what Taylor's dream was and she couldn't see herself traveling around from place to place and not utilizing her college education or fulfilling her own dreams. She had dreamed of being a nurse for too long and she had no intention of giving it up. Plus she still had dreams of that house and family.
Amy was in need of finding happiness and finally consented to going on a date with one of the men her coworkers were trying to set her up with. Matt was a pharmaceutical sales representative and often came into the hospital to talk with the doctors and administrators about his company's products. He and Amy went out on a date and seemed to get along. After six months of dating Matt proposed to Amy who accepted. She loved Matt but she knew she was not in love with him. She figured he was what she needed to fill the big void in her life and she could realize her dream of a house and family. After a year of marriage it was evident this was not going to work. They didn't quarrel as much as they didn't seem to care about the other. Matt treated Amy well and they had everything they needed but there was something missing in their relationship. Amy even changed shifts to avoid being home when Matt was off work claiming the hospital had changed shifts around to fill its need. It wasn't long before Amy found evidence that Matt was cheating on her and after a little over a year the marriage ended.
Amy drifted for a while not knowing what she wanted. She went out with a few guys but wouldn't let anything happen as she was not interested. She even dated a few women and slept with some. She seemed more comfortable in bed with women but none that she had been with seemed to fill a void she had.
Amy realized she wasn't happy with her life. She needed a change and decided maybe leaving this town was what she needed to get a fresh perspective on life. She applied for various positions around the state holding out for critical care or neo natal units. One afternoon she received a call from the hospital where she had completed her practical lessons. It seems the hospital was expanding, adding another two wings and the critical care unit was almost doubling in size. She drove the day before the interview to avoid being too tired when she met with the hospital staff. To her surprise, in addition to the human resource official, the other person conducting the interview was the head nurse who she worked with for a time during her practical lessons and summer aide job while in college. That afternoon after the interview Amy drove home feeling good as she felt the interview went well and the head nurse had liked Amy's work when she was there as an aide. She hoped it gave her an advantage for one of the positions that were being filled.
A week later Amy received the call she was hoping for. She had been offered a position in the critical care unit plus the pay was even higher than she was receiving now. Her reporting date was in one month. She immediately went in and submitted her two week notice so she could move and get settled in at her new location with time to spare before she reported to work. She had a local company pack all of her furniture and belongings agreeing to drive them across the state for her and put them in a storage facility until Amy found a place to live.
Amy found a nice apartment not far from the hospital and had some college boys who had a business of moving people around the city on weekends, bring her furniture and things from the storage unit to her apartment and set it up for her. She reported into work feeling good that she had made it to critical care where she had wanted to be since early college. After working there for 5 months she was down in the cafeteria on her meal break when she heard someone call out her name. She looked over and at first didn't recognize the woman then it hit her. It was Lana White, who she had worked with during her time in the children's unit during her practical lessons. Lana had been a senior when Amy was a freshman at the same university though they didn't know each other at that time. It wasn't until Amy's senior year they met through her practical lessons. She and Lana had gotten along well and it was Lana who had tried to dissuade Amy from letting the doctor and nurse use her apartment for their affair. It was also Lana who had anonymously reported the doctor and nurse to administration for abuse of power.
"Amy, I didn't know you were working here. Have you been here since graduation and I didn't know it?" She asked Amy.
"Actually I just started around five months ago. I'm in the critical care unit. It's so good to see you Lana. How have you been?"
"Great, I'm doing great. It's so good to see you too," Lana said.
"Are you still in the children's ward?" Amy asked her.
"Oh gosh, it has been a long time since I've seen you. Let's see, I was in the children's ward for about a year after you were here, then I moved to the geriatrics ward for about a year, then to the emergency ward for almost two years, and now I'm in the neonatal ward. I hope this is my last change because I am so happy in neonatal and I don't want to leave," Lana told Amy. "We will have to get together and catch up on old times, girl. I can't stay any longer as my break is almost over. Let me give you my number and we can get together," Lana said as she gave Amy her number and Amy gave Lana hers. Over the next few months they were able to get together in the cafeteria as their breaks would allow. In two weeks Lana and her partner were having a cookout for friends of theirs and some coworkers. Lana asked if Amy would like to attend. She knew Amy wasn't seeing anyone and thought she might like to get out. She told her there would be some couples there but also there would be singles there so she wouldn't feel out of place. Lana did tell her if there was someone she wanted to bring she was more than welcome to do so.
The day of the cookout Amy was feeling pretty cheerful. She had enjoyed working at the hospital and she was making friends too. She arrived at Lana's house which was a modest home that showed that Lana had spent many hours maintaining the lawn and flower beds. She rang the doorbell and a lady answered.
"Hi, I'm Amy Willows, Lana's friend. She invited me over today," Amy told her.
"Hi Amy, I'm Jody, Lana's partner. I've heard many good things about you. Come on in. Everyone is out back by the pool. What can I get you to drink? We have a fully stocked bar, a keg and I've made strawberry daiquiris if you would like one."
"Ooh, a daiquiri sounds great." Amy said and followed Jody into the kitchen. "You all have a beautiful home."
"Thank you, we really like it and since we added the pool it has become our own island paradise. We spend as much time as we can out back. Come on. I'll introduce you to everyone," She told Amy as she handed her a daiquiri and took her by the arm leading her out the sliding doors onto the back patio. After she had introduced Amy to most everyone she took her over to Lana who was standing at the grill cooking chicken and hamburgers.
"Hey Amy, glad you could make it," Lana told her as she walked up.
"Thank you. It's nice to be here. This is really beautiful out here," Amy told Lana. Jody then excused herself as she needed to see that everyone had what they needed and to make more daiquiris.
"Jody is very nice. I can see why you two are together," Amy told Lana.
"Thank you. I met her at the hospital, gosh, I think it was around the time you were doing your practical's. She's a crisis counselor at the hospital and I guess you can say it was love at first sight as we have been together ever since," She told Amy.
I'm glad you two are so happy. You do seem right for each other," Amy said.
'Are you seeing anyone right now, Amy?"
"No, I haven't been here that long and to be honest I'm not sure if I want to go through that dating thing again. Too much work and it just hasn't worked out well for me," Amy told Lana.
Amy and Lana continued to talk while Lana was watching and turning the chicken and hamburgers on the grill. After a period of time Jody came back up to see how they were doing and joined in on the conversation.
"Jody, Amy was the student I told you about years ago that let Dr. Thompson and Jeanette use her apartment for their affair."
"Okay, yeah that didn't go over well at all with both being married to someone else and both ended up getting divorced. The doctor got suspended for a year and last I heard he was in private practice in another state while Jeanette was fired and moved out of state too," Jody said.
"It cost Amy too. Her girlfriend thought Amy was cheating on her with some guy and left her too," Lana said. "Did you two ever reconcile after that Amy?"
"Not really. I think we parted on somewhat good terms. After we broke up I saw her the day after final exams at the book store. We talked for a bit and wished each other well and that was the last I heard from or saw of her."
"Didn't she want to be a musician or something like that or was it professional soccer as I remember you saying she was a star player in college?"
"She had a dream of becoming a country western singer and traveling the country. Last I heard she left after graduation and started traveling playing different places. I don't follow country music so I don't know what happened to her," Amy said but the way she said that both Lana and Jody looked at each other sensing that Amy might be missing Taylor.
"You sound like you miss her?" Jody said.
'Jody! Don't ask her that. Amy ignore her. Sometimes she puts her nose and mouth where it shouldn't be."
"Never heard you complain where I put my nose and mouth," Jody told Lana and Amy while giggling.
"Jody! See what I have to put up with Amy? You can't take this country girl anywhere," Lana laughed back.
"Ah you love it and you know it. If it weren't for me you would never laugh," Jody said and hugged Lana placing her head on Lana's shoulder. "And besides you seem to love kissing and licking my nose and mouth after I've had it somewhere my dear!"
"Oh god ,Jody! What on earth has gotten you riled up?" Lana said to Jody and stuck her tongue out at her.
"What was your girlfriends name Amy? Jody knows most country artist if they are anyone. We both listen to country music all the time," Lana said trying to change the subject.
"Taylor Jackson," Amy said then added, "even sounds like a country name, doesn't it?"
Both Lana and Jody stopped what they were doing and open mouthed starred at each other then Lana blurted out, "Taylor Jackson? You've got to be kidding us? You're girlfriend in college was Taylor Jackson? I don't remember you ever telling me her name before? Holy shit Amy, you dated and roomed with Taylor Jackson? It can't be the same one we are thinking of could it be Jody?"
"Is there something I don't know that you do?" Amy said now concerned.
"Oh honey, there apparently is a whole lot you don't know. I can't believe you used to date Taylor Jackson. I love Lana and she loves me but both of us have said we'd ditch the other in a heartbeat to be with Taylor Jackson," Jody said but laughing at the same time to indicate her and Lana wouldn't really breakup over Taylor. "She is not only one hot girl but she is one of the best songwriters there is in the country music right now. I can't tell you how many of her songs have reached the top ten and her latest song was number one on the charts for a long time. She has won many awards for songwriting. I can't believe you didn't know! Hold on, let me look her up and see if it is the same Taylor Jackson you dated?" Jody pulled out her phone and searched the internet for a picture of Taylor finding one and showing it first to Lana then to Amy. "Is this the same Taylor Jackson you dated?"
Amy looked at the picture of Taylor showing her receiving the CMA award and gasped bringing her hand to her mouth as she nodded.
"I didn't know. I don't follow country music," Amy said and her eyes betrayed her feelings that she thought she had filed away long ago but now were pouring out after one photo from the internet.
Lana looked at Jody who nodded to Lana that they could tell there was still something there in Amy's heart for Taylor and she wasn't going to admit it.
"She is coming to town in three weeks to play at a benefit at the university," Jody softly spoke to see if she could get a response from Amy. "They are celebrating a milestone and are bringing in some named stars to sing and Taylor is going to be there too. We have to go. I've got a connection with the university through work. I can try to get us tickets if you want to go?" Jody told her.
Lana said she was in and Amy still not saying anything just slightly nodded her head.
The chicken and burgers were done cooking so the conversation ended and they went back to the kitchen to bring everything out and set it on tables that were set up on the patio.
After the party had ended and everyone had gone home Jody spoke to Lana, "Can you believe Amy used to date Taylor Jackson?"
"No, I can't. All this time and when we even talked while she was in college she never mentioned her name to me," Lana said acting surprised.
"What's more, did you see the look on her face when she saw her picture? And also when we talked about her making it big in country music and coming to town?" Jody asked.
"Yeah, I picked up on it. I think there are still feelings there that we don't know about. Do you think it's such a good idea that we take her to the concert?" Lana was curious to know.
"The only way is to go and keep an eye on her to see how she reacts. Damn, I can't believe I know someone who used to date Taylor Jackson! Wouldn't it be cool to meet her?" Jody said now excited about the possibility.
"Slow down there missy. First, we don't know if you can get tickets. Second, we don't know if Amy will go through with going to the concert and three, we don't know if there are feelings on either of their sides or what those feelings are. For all we know Taylor hates Amy and would refuse to even be around her. After all she is a star now and her college life is behind her. Just because there has been nothing in the tabloids, doesn't mean she is not seeing someone," Lana reasoned.
"I'll try tomorrow to get us tickets. I doubt we will get to meet her other than seeing her on stage but we will be able to get a read on Amy's feelings and that's half the battle right there. I know it might not be our business but if we can facilitate them getting together how cool would that be and if we could even then meet Taylor... just Wow!"
Later that week Jody was able to get three tickets to the concert via her contact with the university. The university had kept several seats on hold for VIP's or other special guest and Jody's contact was able to get three of those seats for them.
The night of the concert Lana drove picking up Amy from her apartment. They went inside and while the seats were not near as good as the ones Amy had last time she was here watching Taylor they were pretty decent seats and close enough to have a good view of the stage.
Several former students played music followed by some named stars. Taylor was next to last to play. The country star who performed before her made the introduction.
"Ladies and gentlemen, It is my honor to introduce you to the next performer. While she is not known for her singing as she doesn't tour anymore, she is a great singer. What she is better known for is her songwriting. Each song that she or her and partner Johnny Robinson write has special meaning to her. She is probably the best story telling writer ever and I'm honored to have been able to record several of the songs she wrote. In fact I think I was the first one to sing one of her songs. Am I right?" The performer looked over to the side of the stage and then back. "She is nodding yes, so I am honored to have recorded her first song too. Besides that, she is one of my best friends and I'm more proud of that than I am of singing her songs. I am also honored to announce that as of tonight she agreed to accompany me for the next month of my tour performing some of her songs with me. I take great pleasure in introducing to you one of your own alumni and a dear friend of mine, Taylor Jackson."
The audience stood, clapped and cheered as Taylor made her way on the stage hugging the performer who gave her the introduction then proceeded to sit on her stool she always had when she sang. Behind her were two guitars sitting in their stands. Lana and Jody were on their feet clapping as they were ecstatic to be this close to the country performer but now to Taylor Jackson too. Amy was also on her feet clapping but she was more reserved and hadn't taken he eyes off of Taylor since she walked on the stage.
"Thank you, thank you, it's good to be back at State College," she yelled and the audience again cheered and clapped. "I want to thank that big cowboy for the introduction and his kind words. He has become a good friend of mine over the years and I am honored that he wants me to tour and sing with him. I also want to thank the University for allowing me to come back to where it all started which is right here. If I could get Chancellor Wright to come up here please, along with Dean Johnson who as you know is the head of the music department and hosting this event. Please come up here if you would. Don't hurry though. We don't need you to get hurt. The show will wait. It's only costing you twenty five thousand an hour while we wait."
The audience laughed at Taylor's attempt at humor. It took the chancellor a while to get on the stage as he was in the audience but the dean had been back stage helping to assure everything was going on schedule. Once they were on stage another person came out carrying a large poster about three feet by six feet walking up to just behind Taylor and the other two.
"I was fortunate to make my way through college and graduate with a degree in music. But I had to play on a soccer scholarship because the university didn't provide many scholarships to those majoring in music. This is still one of the finest universities to attend to get an education in music. In order to bring in more talented students to study here, I and Johnny Robinson along with every professional performer who is here tonight have created a scholarship fund for students majoring in music. To get it started we are donating five hundred thousand dollars to the scholarship fund," Taylor told the audience.
The student holding the large check turned it around so it could be seen and presented it to the Chancellor and the Dean. The audience cheered and gave a standing ovation to Taylor. After everyone had settled and the chancellor and dean had left the stage Taylor took her seat on the stool she always used to perform and picked up one of her guitars.
"I can tell you that it's a dream come true for me to be here. I always was a dreamer and if you ask my mom she will tell you dreaming got me into a lot of trouble growing up as I insisted on this dream of writing and singing."
Taylor looked down in the audience pointing to a lady sitting in the third row middle of the stage. "Mom, my dream has come true. Without your love and support this dream never would have come true. Mom, would you stand up please," Taylor said as she pointed to her mom sitting in the seat that Amy thought could have been the seat she sat in the first time she watched Taylor here. Taylor then blew her a kiss.
"I also want to thank two good friends who whenever I was feeling low or ready to quit would find a way to help me put things in perspective. Rita and Mandy would you stand please?" she said as she pointed to them sitting next to Taylor's mom.
Amy recognized both and while sitting there put her hand to her mouth and said, "Oh!" causing both Lana and Jody who were sitting on each side of Amy to look at her. "I know them," she said.
Taylor then played four songs she had written that other performers had recorded always mentioning who recorded it and what album it was on before she sang it. As was her style she also told why she wrote the song. The second to last song she sang was a top ten hit and was the song she had dedicated to her father.
"This song I wrote my freshman year of college. With some changes made to it over the years it still had a special meaning to me as I wrote it for my dad who died my freshman year of cancer."
Taylor then looked down towards her mom, "Mom, I know you know how much we both love and miss him and wish he could be here now to hear this song. Somehow I know he is listening, and to you dad, I love you." Taylor tilted her head to the sky and kissed her fingers lifting them up to over her head. She sang the song and those that were close enough could see she had a tear in her eyes as she was singing. After the song was over she took her guitar off and lifted it above her head holding her head up and blowing a kiss to the sky. She then looked at her mom who stood and she blew a kiss to her too.
The mood was set as many in the audience were wiping their eyes including Lana, Jody and of course Amy.
Taylor wasn't finished though. She asked a man who had been walking around the audience if he was ready and he said yes. He escorted a little girl up on the stage having her walk over to Taylor.
"Hi," Taylor said to her. "I'm Taylor. And your name is?"
"Beverly," the girl said sheepishly.
"It's nice to meet you Beverly. How old are you?" Taylor then asked.
"Ten," Beverly answered.
"Ten? Wow! Well Beverly, have you enjoyed the concert so far? No pressure honey but there is a right and wrong answer," Taylor said with a chuckle.
"Yes," Beverly said as the audience laughed too.
"Good answer," Taylor said. "Beverly, do you have dreams?"
"Uh huh," Beverly answered.
"Do you ever dream about what you want to be when you grow up? Like a doctor, lawyer, mommy, or even a singer?"
"No, not really," Beverly said.
"Well in time I'm sure you will Beverly. You will dream about something in your life you want to have come true. We all have dreams about what we would like to be. Some of us are fortunate to live our dreams and some still dream about it. If you want it to come true you have to work hard and never give up before it will come true. Do you believe that?"
"Yes ma'am," Beverly said as if she were in a class and learning a lesson from a teacher.
"I tell you what Beverly. I want all your dreams to come true and for you to love and be loved and find happiness throughout your life. And to help you on your way I am going to give you something that whenever you feel low or your dream seems impossible I want you to take what I'm going to give you and remember that Taylor said, if we don't give up and keep trying our dreams will come true. Will you do that for me?"
Beverly just nodded her head. As she did Taylor took a pen out of her pocket and on her guitar she wrote, "Beverly, May all your dreams come true. Love, Taylor." She then took the guitar and gave it to Beverly.
'Here you go sweetie. Mom where ever you are, you have a beautiful daughter and you should be very proud of her," Taylor said and helped her towards the edge of the stage.
"Give a big hand for Beverly everyone. It takes a very brave girl to get up here on the stage in front of a big crowd," Taylor said and the audience stood and clapped for Beverly.
"That was so sweet and adorable," Lana said.
"She has a big heart and it seems fame and fortune hasn't made her the snob that many artist are," Jody said.
Amy was wiping her eyes as she saw once again saw the Taylor she had fallen in love with.
Taylor retrieved her other guitar then paused before she talked. "This last song I'm going to sing has special meaning to me as I wrote it about my life here at the university. You see I suffered from Destination Addiction or as some refer to it as the grass is always greener on the other side. I fell in love in college and was too dumb and selfish to realize what I had. I had this dream of becoming a big country singer and traveling the country performing. Nothing was going to stand in my way. About a year and a half after graduating I was in a flea bag motel in Shreveport, Louisiana, not a penny to my name, eating peanut butter sandwiches as that was all I could afford and that wasn't every day. I lost twenty pounds from not eating and I began to wonder if I had made a mistake pursuing a career in country music. I began to reminisce about my life. I remembered the love I had in college and how it fell apart because I was determined to hit the road and make it big as soon as I graduated. It only took me a couple of hours to pen the words to this song as I realized what I had lost and may never have again. I left Shreveport for Branson, Missouri to play a gig there and a man in the audience, named Johnny Robinson who you all know, listened to me play for four nights before he sat me down and explained life to me. He doesn't mince words and flat out told me I would never make it as a singer but I was a great writer and if I would market my songs instead of keeping them for myself I could make a good living and give up on the traveling. Johnny, you know, has become my partner and we write many songs together. He is like a father to me and I his adopted daughter to him and his wife. I love him dearly. We had been writing for a few years and he finally convinced me to sell this song that up until then I kept because of its meaning to me. I won't mention names because I don't where that person is now. I don't want to put you in an uncomfortable situation as I know you have moved on and don't even remember who I am. I doubt they are here but just in case this song is for you. I never forgot you and I will always have you in my heart."
As Taylor was finishing her intro to the song Amy noticed that Taylor was playing with her necklace around her neck. She couldn't quite see that far but it appeared to be a small white soccer ball on a silver chain with a charm behind the ball. Amy asked the lady sitting in front of her if she could borrow her binoculars for a second and through them she indeed saw Taylor playing with the white soccer ball necklace she had anonymously given Taylor at the awards ceremony at the end of senior year.
Meanwhile as Taylor was saying this Lana and Jody, who were sitting on each side of Amy, grabbed her arms as she had brought her hands to her eyes to wipe the tears that had formed. They heard her softly say, "She's wearing the necklace I gave her." Taylor sang the song and while Jody and Lana already knew it, Amy was hearing it for the first time. The words hit Amy directly in the heart as Taylor sang of having love and not fighting for it, making mistake after mistake and leaving without telling that person how much she loved them. It was too much for Amy to take and as the song ended and people were up giving Taylor a standing ovation Amy told Lana and Jody, "Let's go now, I need to get out of here. I can't breathe or stay any longer."
Lana and Jody made their way out of the auditorium with one or both their arms interlocked with Amy's as she was weeping and tears were running down her face. They made it to the car with Lana in the driver seat and Jody in the passenger seat. They put Amy in the back. They sat there for a while not saying anything but kept looking at Amy. Amy just stared out the side window not saying anything.
"Are you alright?" Lana finally asked Amy.
Amy just nodded as she had stopped crying but still was looking out the window. "Do you want us to take you back in and try to find Taylor?" Jody asked. Amy shook her head no.
"What do you want us to do honey?" Lana asked.
"Leave, just leave please. Take me home," Amy told them.
Lana looked at Jody who shook her head and mouthed without saying anything to take her to their house. Lana started the car and pulled out driving to her house. Amy didn't say a word the whole way there even though it was obvious they weren't driving her to her apartment. Once they arrived they escorted Amy inside and went into the kitchen making each a cup of coffee. They sat at the table and for a while didn't say anything until Lana finally spoke up, "Feeling a little better now?"
Amy nodded and said, "Yes thank you. I'm sorry for the way I acted. I don't know what came over me."
Jody placed her hand on Amy's rubbing it softly, "It's okay honey. There is obviously some feeling inside that you still have for Taylor. It came pouring out when she obviously wrote that song about you and it was like she knew you were there telling you she still cared for you."
"She's right Amy," Lana said. You obviously have strong feeling for her that you didn't realize yourself until tonight. Do you still love her?"
"I don't know. It's been so long and I thought she was out of my life. I don't know what to think. She's still wearing the necklace I gave her," Amy explained to them.
"Are you sure? You looked through the binoculars but are you sure it's your necklace?" Jody asked.
"Yes, Yes I'm sure. After we broke up at the end of the semester, the school had an awards banquet for athletes and cheerleaders. Taylor won the female athlete of the year and also the Presidential Citation. It was while she was up on the stage receiving her award I gave the box to a waiter and had him place it on her table for her. It was a silver necklace with a white soccer ball on the end and a charm engraved, "Hope no goal gets past you." The day we ran into each other after final exams she was wearing it too and she was fiddling with it just like she was doing on stage. I know it's the same necklace. I just know."
"Maybe you should try to contact her and see if there is anything between you two. She obviously still has feelings for you," Jody told Amy. "We can go online and try to contact her through her website or some other social media she uses."
"No I just need to think. This is all too fast and too emotional. I need to think this through when my head is clear," Amy said.
"Ok, we want you to stay here tonight. I think it best if you have someone close by. Tomorrow we'll see where you are. Is that agreeable with you?" Lana asked Amy.
"Thank you both. I'm sorry I was such a mess tonight. I really did have a great time," Amy said to both.
"We did too. It really was a great concert they put on and the singers we loved. It was unbelievable to be that close to Taylor. And donating that much money to the music department they had better name it the Taylor Jackson scholarship. To hear the stories behind the songs now makes them even more special. And giving her guitar to that little girl was one of the most wonderful things I have ever seen. It was an unbelievable night and I'm glad we went. Come on I think it's time we went to bed. I think we are all exhausted after tonight. We're all about the same size so we can find you something to wear for bed and the guest room is all made up so it's all yours," Jody told Amy.
Two weeks went by and Lana and Jody did not bring up Taylor to Amy. It was evident it was weighing on her mind as she always seemed lost in thought or distant when they talked. Amy had come over on a Saturday to lay out by the pool with Jody and Lana. They were lying there in their bikinis talking when Amy said, "I think I want to try to contact Taylor."
Both Lana and Jody sat up and looked over at Amy. "Are you sure?" Lana asked.
"I've been thinking about it for the last two weeks," Amy said then continued after pausing. "Since I graduated from college something has been missing in my life that I could never seem to find or figure out what it was. Even getting married didn't fill that void. After seeing Taylor at the concert and hearing that song I began to think back over my life trying to figure what went wrong and why I was no longer happy. Moving here was a big step and seemed to fill part of that void, but I think the reason why is because it was here I was the happiest. It was Taylor that filled the void and much like her I was too dumb to realize what I had. I think she always knew we wouldn't be together because I told her I was bi. She told me women who claim to be bi usually get married to a guy and only have flings and affairs with women. I never put my whole heart into saving our relationship because I had that dream of a family, a house and a great job. I think she felt the same way that I was going to eventually hurt her so she put everything into her career and not into us. I have come to the conclusion that I love Taylor and always have. Living without her is never going to fill the emptiness I have now. I need her in my life and I want to try and contact her and see if she feels the same."
Jody immediately got up going into the house and coming back out with her laptop. She sat down at table on the patio and did a search of Taylor Jackson. She found several social media sites that could be used to contact Taylor but all were open to the public so anything they wrote could be seen by whoever was looking at the same site. All three girls gathered around and they came up with ways to contact Taylor that wouldn't reveal Amy's true identity yet give enough information that only Taylor would know. Amy sent several messages to Taylor mentioning something about their college years only Taylor and she would remember. They also said if she still had her number would she please contact her.
After sending off messages they sat back and enjoyed the sun with Amy seeming to be in much better spirits.
"We need to celebrate tonight," Jody spoke up.
"Celebrate what?" Lana asked.
"Celebrate Amy's realization. With her just admitting she still loves Taylor, it has given her hope again and I can see it in her body she is already happier," Jody explained.
"Are you sure it's not the sun getting to you and has your hormones all in an uproar? Or are you just oogling over Amy's almost naked body and want a piece of it before she goes back to Taylor?" Lana said and half laughed.
Amy giggled and turned to Jody, "Yeah Jody, are you wanting a piece of this great body I have?" And as she said that she poked her chest wiggling it side to side.
"Well I thought you would never offer so I took a chance and made a last chance effort to get some of this," she laughed but rolled over on her lounge chair grabbing Amy's head and planting a kiss on her lips as she let her one hand squeeze Amy's breast over her bikini top.
Amy was shocked but she took it in stride and laughed at Jody's attempt to make everything light and humorous. She then turned to Lana and said, "Is this one of those times where you think she is putting her nose and mouth and maybe her hand where it shouldn't be?"
"Oh no, you have my permission to fuck her brains out if you want. Then I can be free to do the same to you too or Taylor if I want too," Lana said and laughed back at both of them.
"You know, when I moved here I was trying to escape an unhappy situation back home and I thought a change of scenery would do me good. Little did I know I would meet back up with a good friend and her sexy girlfriend. If I thought you two were serious I would be down between both of your legs in a flash. It's why I do love you both and glad you push me to do things and think things through that have bothered me for years. I hope I can someday repay you both for all you've done for me," Amy said being serious.
"We love you too sweetie and if we thought it would have been what you needed we would have had you in our bed a long time ago. We just hope this works out for you. Even if it doesn't at least you will have realized what has been holding you back all these years," Lana said and reached over squeezing Amy's hand.
"Okay enough with the sappy stuff. Are we going to go out and celebrate or what?" Jody asked.
"I'm game if you two are," Amy said. "I would like to go out and have some fun. I feel like my mind has opened up and I can see the world again."
"Then let's do it. A girl's night out! We'll go for a nice dinner then to a nice club and dance and have a good time. Amy can sleep here tonight in the spare bedroom Jody, not ours, unless she just has to have a piece of both of us," Lana said.
They all laughed over Lana's statement then talked about where they could go to dinner and then where to go to dance.
That night they went to a really nice and popular restaurant on the river that ran through the town. They shared two bottles of wine over the course of their meal enjoying the atmosphere and ambiance of the rustic restaurant watching the large boats cruise by on the river.
Later they went to a nightclub that was also popular but only in the LGBT community because they wanted to slow dance and in a mainstream club it would be frowned upon if they slow danced together. Lana and Jody made sure that Amy was included in the slow dancing as they would alternate dancing with each other. Because there were three of them they often had other women or even men come up and ask one of them to dance as it wasn't obvious that Lana and Jody were the partners and Amy was the third wheel. For the most part they declined but occasionally if two of them were on the floor dancing and the third sitting was asked, they would accept and dance. Amy was hit on by more than one woman and she was given phone numbers by several over the course of the night.
Amy had worn a tan pant suit with a shear white pullover blouse and a white lace bra. She also had on open toed three inch heals making her quite a sight to look at.
As they were making their way back home Jody spoke to Amy about receiving so many numbers. "Well girl, you sure were the popular one tonight. If you ever want to get laid you have a handful of potentials in your hand or you could just go back there and within an hour have your pick."
Amy laughed and responded, "Yeah, why haven't we been there before? It was like a meat market for gays. I actually was getting worked up over some of them."
Both Lana and Jody laughed at Amy with Lana responding. "Had we known that is what you had wanted we would have taken you there sooner. You know it didn't hurt your cause when you took your jacket off and you could see the outline of your nipples through your shear blouse and lace bra you are wearing. I know I couldn't stop starring and I know Jody couldn't either as I caught her drooling a few times."
"Sorry, it got hot in there with dancing so much and I forgot I wore such a shear blouse and bra. But I'm glad someone noticed. At least I can still attract someone."
"Oh honey, you attracted more than you think and you don't have to show off your nipples to get them to notice. They were all over you long before you ever took your jacket off," Jody added.
Three weeks went by and Amy had heard nothing from Taylor except one response that obviously was a standard automated response meaning no one even read her message. Amy while disappointed still had hopes she would somehow figure out a way to contact Taylor. Lana and Jody both noticed a big difference in Amy's disposition as she now seemed much happier and not as serious. One night the following week Amy was fast asleep when her phone went off an hour before she had set her alarm. She saw it was the hospital and she knew something was up so she groggily answered her phone.
"Hello," she said.
"Amy, it's Lana. "You need to wake up and clear your head before I tell you this," Lana said. Lana was working a midnight shift to fill in for a nurse who was out sick.
"I'm awake, what is it?" Amy said.
Jody is on her way over to you. I want her to drive you to the hospital," Lana told her.
"Lana, what's going on? Why do you want Jody to drive me to the hospital? I can drive myself."
'Jody will drive you honey and don't argue. You need to get up and get dressed now and get here as soon as possible. It's Taylor honey. They were driving through town on the interstate coming from a concert in North Carolina and a semi crossed the median and hit them. Two were killed and Taylor and one other are in critical condition. They are in surgery right now."
Upon hearing this any sleepiness still in Amy was gone. She rose up gasping, "Oh my god, no, no!"
"Get ready as soon as you can. Jody will be there any minute to get you. I don't want you to drive. Do not leave by yourself do you understand?"
"Yes, I won't. Oh my god, Taylor, oh my god," was all that Amy could get out. Just then she heard the doorbell ring. "Jody's here, I have to go," she said and hung up on Lana. She ran to the door to let Jody in and then back to her bedroom to get dressed and ready to go.
