That Day 12
AUTHOR'S NOTES
I know I'm shocking you all because this is a new chapter and its out in relatively good time following the last one. I told you I wouldn't let you down and I don't plan on going back on that. My creative juices are flowing and I love every minute of it.
I just want you all to know to hold onto your seats. The initial drama is over and now were gonna get into the Concert /Chris/Gina drama. It's going to get hairy so brace yourselves. I just know that your all gonna like it.
I didn't hear from many people after my last posting. I don't like that very much and would love to hear from my readers. But I'm not going to panic, though, because I know a lot of you read but don't respond. I thank you all for reading and I hope you continue to do so and I doubly thank those of you who did respond. Every email makes me smile.
My biggest fear I have is that the readers have disappeared. HELLO!!! If you're still out there and still reading, let me know. I always welcome your comments and words of wisdom. Hearing from you makes my day and brings a smile to my face. Feel free to write me at Shywriterboy29@hotmail.com

EARLIER THAT DAY
I sat there and watched him ramble on and something came over me and I leaned in, placed my hand on the back of his neck and gently kissed his soft lips. He was mid-sentence when our lips met and all at once he stopped talking and slowly melted into the kiss. When the kiss finally broke I looked at Justin and he just sat there with his eyes closed. When he finally opened his eyes, he had a shocked and bewildered look on his face.
"What was that for?" he asked breathlessly.
"You looked like you needed it. I'm sorry if I was out of line," I said trying to cover my tracks. "Besides, you were talking entirely too much."
I tried to giggle and lighten the situation but Justin just sat there with a shocked look, making very little movement.
Way to go, Cameron. I thought to myself. You really screwed that one up. I began to panic and decided to just cut my losses and get out of there as fast as I could.
"Look, Justin," I said, focusing back on him. "I'm sorry if I was out of line with that kiss. You looked like you needed it. I was just trying to help."
I looked at Justin, hoping for any recognition, any movement, ANYTHING! There was nothing there. He was in some sort of trance, which didn't make me feel any better.
"Look," I said, standing to leave. "I better get going and help Cody and Lance with Brayden. Keep your head up and don't forget, you're a great guy and one day someone is going to love you for you. Just focus on the future and what you have, instead of what you don't have. Cause I promise it won't be long `til you get everything your heart desires."
There was still nothing coming from Justin. He just sat there.
"Well, I guess I better go. I'll see you in a while."
I turned and headed for the door when something Justin had said earlier came back to me.
"I remember you saying earlier that there was someone that you had a crush on," I said turning back toward where Justin sat. "I say focus on that. Try to get to know him better and see where that leads. What's the worst that could happen? Who knows, maybe one day he will kiss you like that."
"He just did," Justin replied, looking me straight in the eyes.
All at once I couldn't breathe. What did he just say? Justin Timberlake has a crush on me? Did the door to everything I ever wanted just open? The room started to spin and I began to panic. I had to get out of there.
"Umm, I got to go," I stuttered out, quickly making my way to the door.
"Cameron, wait!" Justin said after me.
I couldn't stop, I had to keep moving. I quickly made my way out the door and down the hall towards the waiting limo.
That Day
CHAPTER 12
By ShyWriterBoy
CODY'S DAY
"YOU DID WHAT!?!" I asked exasperated as Cameron related what had just happened. I had never been the type to completely freak out that quickly before, but I was completely shocked with what I had just heard.
"I just kissed him," Cameron said, still shocked. "I just leaned in, out of the blue, and kissed him."
It was deathly quiet in the back of that limo as Brayden and I tried to make heads or tails of what we just heard. We had just left the arena on the way to get Brayden to the hospital, and were quite unprepared for the bombshell Cameron had just set off.
"And you did this why?" I asked, still trying to make sense of this whole thing.
"I DON'T KNOW!" Cameron half shouted. "He was just rambling on and making no sense and it was the cutest thing I have ever seen. Then it was like all of a sudden I couldn't control myself and I grabbed his neck and just kissed him."
"What did Justin have to say about it?" Brayden asked with a smile.
"He just kinda looked up at me and asked `What was that for?'" Cameron replied.
"To which you said?" I asked, getting more irritated.
"I told him that he looked like he needed it and that he was talking entirely too much," Cameron said. I could tell by the look on his face that he was starting to worry.
"Cameron," I said, being completely possessed by my irritation. "You know I love you very much, but what were you thinking? You have never been one to do something stupid, but this stunt is pushing the limits."
"Wait just a minute Mr.-All-High-and-Mighty," Cameron replied getting irritated. "Don't you dare lecture me about who not to kiss. Have you not kissed Lance? The way I see it, you don't have a leg to stand on here."
I was nearly jumping out of my seat at this point. "My situation with Lance is completely different and you know it. Lance kissed me first. I let him make the first move. That way all the responsibility was with him and I could just go with it. You just dove in and kissed Justin out of the blue. Did you really think that you..."
"Now wait a minute," Brayden interrupted, gingerly trying to sit up while cradling his arm. "I don't think this is something to get that worked up about."
I looked over at Brayden with a dumbfounded look on my face. "What do you mean not something to get worked up about? No offense, Brayden, but this IS Justin Timberlake were talking about here."
"I know that," he replied.
"Then you also know that you just can't go around kissing high profile boy band members at random," I snapped back. I was astounded that he was so casual about this whole thing.
"Yes, you can," he answered back, just as casual.
Only half hearing his answer I turned back to Cameron. "You see, that's what I'm talking about. Cameron, you just can't..." I stopped midsentence and turned back toward Brayden. "What did you just say?"
"I said, yes, you can," he replied. "There is no problem in that whatsoever."
If someone would have had a camera in that limo right then it would have been a prize winning photograph. Both Cameron and I were looking at Brayden completely stunned, mouths open and jaws sitting on the floor.
"What IS the problem," he continued, "is the amount of fuss you're making over this and the pedestal that you're putting Justin on."
Not completely convinced I looked at him slyly. "Do continue."
"Being the cousin and boyfriend of two members of one of the best selling, most popular boy bands in the world has taught me quite a lot, and the biggest thing I have learned is that every one of them are normal human beings. Because of their status and their fame and popularity, they unwillingly get elevated to almost god-like status. With that comes an air of being untouchable, of not being able to experience normal things, that they shouldn't be treated like any normal person. Cody, can I ask you something?"
"Go ahead," I replied
"Would you be this weirded out if Cameron had kissed some random stranger like that?" Brayden asked.
"Hell no, but this is not some random stranger were talking about here, Brayden," I replied, still not getting where he was going with this.
"Technically, Cody, yes it is," Brayden said nodding.
"How do you figure?" Cameron joined in.
"You knew nothing about Justin before you met him. You knew -of- him because of his fame and music but you didn't know anything -about- him. Isn't a stranger someone that you know nothing about?" Brayden asked.
Cameron and I both nodded.
"So if you want to get technical when Cameron kissed Justin, he was kissing a stranger, and to be honest that was the best thing you could do."
That last comment got quizzical looks from both Cameron and I.
Brayden saw our confusion and continued. "What you have to remember is that these guys spend every day dealing with screaming fans that look at them as these perfect beings. When they are in the public eye, they are groomed to be and behave perfectly, but behind the cameras they are normal guys who long for –any- sense of normalcy. So again what Cameron did, and what you and Lance are doing, is a good thing and nothing to freak out about."
Cameron and I were slowly coming around to the ideas that Brayden was presenting and he could see that. There was a lot of truth to what Brayden was saying and I was about to say something else when he started speaking again.
"Now don't get me wrong. If some random fan off the street came up and just kissed Justin like that, there would be hell to pay, but you two have an –in–. Because of all the stuff that you have already been through with Lance, they have grown to trust the two of you. My advice would be to stop freaking out and just go with it. I promise you nothing bad is going to happen."
"He does have a point there, Cody," Cameron said, turning to face me. "I can't tell you how appealing it was to see Justin worry about the little things that a normal person worries about. I found myself thinking `Wow, he is normal' and I guess that is why I felt comfortable enough to do what I did."
I felt like a heel. Here I was freaking out over nothing. Brayden made complete sense and I began to see the guys of N'Sync in a new light. They all are just normal guys and it wasn't fair to them to handle them with kid gloves. They look and act and feel like anyone else on this planet.
As I sat there, I felt horrible for the way I'd reacted. I reached out, grabbed Cameron's hand with one of my hands and put my other on Brayden's knee.
"I'm sorry, Cameron, and to you, Brayden," I said solemnly. "I guess I am still in the whole star struck fan mode when it comes to them. I completely see your point, Brayden, and I totally agree with what you're saying. I'm sorry for freaking out on the both of you."
"It's alright, Cody, I still love you," Cameron replied. "One word of advice though. I wouldn't make a habit of being mean to me. I would hate to have to pull out the big guns on you." Cameron began to flex his arm muscles. He looked cheesy as hell doing it but I have to admit he did have an impressive physique.
Cameron's little show caused an eruption of laughter with the three of us. It was very cool to see Brayden laugh and smile. I could tell that he was in a lot of pain but his spirits weren't completely broken.
"Can I ask you one more question, Cameron?" Brayden asked.
"Sure," Cameron replied.
"Was there any meaning at all behind that kiss? Do you like Justin?"
Cameron paused in thought for a second, and then a big smile spread across his face. "Yeah, I think I do. It's hard to explain, but I get the coolest feelings when I'm around him. And we won't even go with how I felt after that kiss," Cameron started turning red.
"Oh Good Lord!!!" I exclaimed loudly, rolling my eyes.
"WHAT?" Cameron feigned hurt. "Sometimes it has a mind of its own."
"EWWW!" I replied acting disgusted.
We all erupted in laughter again. It was a major difference in mood compared to what it was just moments ago. It was a needed change.
"Well, if you want my advice," Brayden spoke up. "Don't stress out. What you did was a good thing. I think the reason Justin was so shocked was because the kiss was real. It wasn't just because of who he was, it was because you wanted to. When we get back just go talk to him, everything will be fine."
"You really think so?" Cameron replied.
Brayden nodded.
"I agree with him, Cam. If you like him, go for it. What's the worst that could happen?" I said with a smile.
"Do you really want me to answer that?" Cameron said sarcastically. "The more I think about it, the more I like him. But then I think more and I freak out because I don't know how to act or what to do. I don't want to screw anything up. I like him a lot and I get the feeling he likes me too and I just want it to work."
"Just be yourself and you'll have nothing to worry about," Brayden said with a smile. "I have known Justin for awhile and as long as you treat him as a human being and treat him with respect everything will be fine."
"You know what," Cameron said after thinking for a minute "You are right. As hard as it may sound, being me is all I can be. I just hope that Justin likes me for me and doesn't expect me to be anything else."
"I don't think you will have a problem there, as long as you do the same for him," Brayden replied.
"I think...no wait...I KNOW I can do that," Cameron said smiling. He sat there thinking for a few more seconds and added. "Holy shit, I could be dating Justin Timberlake. Quick, someone pinch me!"
I reached over and pinched the underside of his arm quite hard.
Cameron yelled in pain "OUCH. What the hell was that for?"
"You said someone pinch me," I replied innocently. Brayden started laughing.
"I was being figurative, dumb-ass," Cameron whined.
"Oh, listen to you," I replied in my best Jewish mother tone. "Remind me to get Justin a sympathy card while were out."
"Why the hell are you gonna do that?" Cameron asked.
"So I can express my condolences for having a 4-year-old as a boyfriend," I replied giggling. Brayden was laughing harder now.
"THAT'S IT," Cameron yelled, jumping on top of me, relentlessly tickling. "I hope you brought your Depends `cause your gonna need `em."
I instantly started howling with laughter, trying to knock him off of me. Brayden's laughter tripled at that point and he started turning red he was laughing so hard.
"Please STOP!" Cameron and I heard from out of nowhere.
We looked over to Brayden who was still laughing and trying to catch his breath. "I'm already in enough pain over here, are you two trying to kill me?"
Cameron stopped tickling me and sat back down with a giggle. I sat up and looked over to Brayden with a concerned smile on my face. "I'm sorry, Bray. I can't control the big lug half the time. We didn't mean to cause you more trauma."
"It's OK," Brayden replied getting back to normal. "I am just starting to hurt a lot more now and you two weren't helping."
I looked out the window to see where we were at and how much further we had and I noticed that we were very close to the hospital.
"The hospital is just right up there so it won't be much longer," I replied pulling out my cell phone. "I'm going to give Sylvia a quick call and let her know were just around the corner."
After a couple minutes, I ended the phone call and switched off the phone. "She will be waiting at the entrance to the ER. She said that she will take us right back and have a doctor waiting. She pulled some strings and let the staff know that we were with the group so they are to be completely hush-hush about the whole thing. We should be in and out of there in no time."
"Good," Brayden replied with some relief. "I hate hospitals, so the sooner were out of there the better."
"I second that notion," Cameron replied as we pulled up to the ER entrance.
Lonnie quickly came around and opened the door and I got out first to greet Sylvia. I wrapped my arms around her and gave her a huge hug.
"Hey, Syl. How are you doing?" I said kissing her on the cheek.
"I'm good baby-boy. Who do you got in there with you?" She replied looking into the back of the limo.
"What, did you forget about me already?" Cameron said as he climbed out of the car.
"Well, man alive, if it isn't my other adopted, never-talks-to-his-mother, son," Sylvia replied pulling Cameron into another hug. "How the hell and where the hell have you been, young man?"
"Now don't you get your old bones in an uproar," Cameron said with a giggle. "You know I still love you."
"Who are you calling old?" Sylvia replied grabbing Cameron by the crotch causing him to yelp in pain. "You better start calling me more often and letting me know you're alive, you got that?" Cameron nodded, but she still kept her grip. "You may not show your face here very often, but I can still make your manhood a permanent fixture on my wall. Do you understand?"
"Completely!" Cameron stated quickly. "Can I have the boys back now?"
Sylvia let go as I giggled at the whole scene.
She gave Cameron a kiss on the cheek "It's nice to see you, my dear."
"It's nice to see you, too, Sylvia," Cameron replied.
"OK, where's the patient?" Sylvia asked looking back to the limo.
"One patient, coming right up," Cameron replied as he reached into the limo and helped Brayden out. He helped brace Brayden with an arm around his waist.
"What's your name, sweetheart?" Sylvia said as she walked toward Brayden.
"Brayden, ma'am," he replied.
"Well, first of all let's stop with that ma'am stuff. The name is Sylvia and that's what I answer to." Brayden nodded as she continued. "Second, I can see that you're not a happy camper at the moment, so I won't bother with stupid questions like `Where does it hurt?'. Let's just get you inside and get you all bandaged up."
"OK. Thanks, Sylvia," Brayden said starting to tear up.
"That's what I'm here for, honey, don't mention it. Now dry those tears and let's take a ride," she replied as she walked up to the building and got the wheelchair she had brought out with her. We loaded Brayden into the wheelchair and took him into the hospital.
Sylvia was true to her word when she said the process would be quick and painless. Well, not for Brayden but he survived. It wasn't very long after we went in that we were all standing back at the entrance of the ER. This time, however, Brayden was on pain medication, feeling better. He had a few bruised ribs, and a cast on his broken wrist but nothing serious. He was sent away with the instructions to just take it easy for awhile and he should be just fine. He was to come back in a few weeks to get the cast taken off.
We all hugged Sylvia goodbye and climbed back into the limo. Things were a lot more subdued on the trip back. Brayden almost immediately fell asleep because of the pain medication and so Cameron and I just quietly chatted about life and took the time to catch up.
We arrived back at the arena to an antsy couple of boy band members. Josh was pacing the loading dock of the arena as we pulled up and Lance, I could tell, was out there keeping him company and lending moral support. Josh nearly rushed the limo as we pulled up.
As the car came to a stop, I gently shook Brayden's leg. "Hey, Brayden, we're back at the arena. Wake up buddy and let's get you inside."
"OK" he mumbled sleepily.
He was starting to sit up as the door opened and Josh poked his head in. "Is he alive?"
"Yes, I'm alive, baby. Please help me out of this thing," Brayden said with a smile.
"I would be happy to," Josh replied as he helped Brayden out of the limo.
Josh and Brayden began making their way to the arena as Cameron and I climbed out of the limo. Lance came over and wrapped his arms around me in a big hug. Any stress and troubles I felt melted away in an instant. I looked him in the eye and gently kissed his lips. "Hello handsome, did you miss me?" I said with a smile.
"Yes, very much," Lance replied, kissing me again. "How did everything go? Is he going to be OK?"
"Yeah, he'll live," I replied as we broke the embrace and grabbed hands and began walked towards the arena. "The doctor said that there is nothing seriously wrong. He has a few bruised ribs and a broken wrist. He will have a monster bruise on his leg but the doctor assured me he'll heal up nicely."
"That was very nice of you to do, Cody," Lance said smiling and I –again- melted. Boy, this man had some power.
"I'm just doing my job," I replied, squeezing his hand.
We continued to walk, with Cameron on the other side of Lance. Lance turned to Cameron and asked, "Cameron, I need to ask you something."
"What is it, Lance?" Cameron replied.
"After you guys left I went into the dressing room and found Justin sitting in there alone. He was in some sort of trance and acting very funny. I tried to talk to him and seemed in some other land. What happened between the two of you?" Lance asked.
"Oh, that," Cameron said as the flush started to appear in his cheeks. Cameron told Lance the story of him and Justin and the kiss. When Cameron finished, Lance just stood there with a dumbfounded look on his face. Cameron started to worry. "Um, Lance. I'm sorry if I've caused any unnecessary drama for the group. It just felt right and I went with it. I apologize."
Lance began to smile. "There is no need to apologize, and if I didn't have the sexiest man on the planet already, I would kiss you myself."
OK WAIT A MINUTE I thought to myself HOLD THE PHONE. Did he just use the words `have' and `sexiest man on the planet'? It was at that moment that I realized just how deep my feelings for Lance Bass went. How on earth did I come across someone so wonderful? I began feeling myself fall hard for him. But was I ready?
"What do you mean, Lance?" Cameron replied, bringing me out of my own thoughts.
"That makes perfect sense now. He was acting like I felt when I first kissed you, Cody," he said turning to look at me. Oh, those eyes!!
"I was on cloud nine and felt like I had been transported to a magical new place the first time I kissed you, my dear," Lance continued, still looking at me. He turned his attention back to Cameron "I'm not sure, but I don't think that Justin has ever felt anything like that before. I don't think he knows how to react. He did say that you left in a hurry though. He was worried he did something wrong."
"Yeah, I did leave rather abruptly," Cameron said looking down. "When he didn't say anything or react I panicked and had to get out of there. I heard him call after me but I couldn't stop."
"Well then, why are you still standing here?" Lance said quickly "I think you need to go find Justin and talk to him. Just talk from your heart and let him know how you feel. He needs to know that you like him and that it was nothing he did that made you panic. You just may get another kiss out of it."
Cameron's face lit right up when he heard what Lance said. "If you two will excuse me, I have a man to go fetch."
"Go get `em, tiger," Lance said with a laugh as Cameron took off towards the arena.
"Cameron!" I yelled running after him.
"Yes, Cody?" he said stopping.
I caught up to where he was. "Good luck," I said kissing him on the cheek. "I love you, ass-face."
"I love you two, dumb-ass," Cameron said smiling and took off again towards the arena.
I stood there smiling at my best friend as I felt Lance's arms one more time, from behind me, snake around my waist. I turned around to face him as I held him close.
"Now it's my turn to say," I said looking into his eyes. "That was very nice of you to do, Lance."
"I'm just doing my job," he replied.
Our lips met one more time in a deep, passionate kiss. You know that place that Lance was talking about? The place he was transported when we first kissed? Damn that place is beautiful!!
