The car pulled over and both climbed from the back seat. As soon as they did, two of the security detail got out and started to follow them.

"Edward, I would like to move the civil ceremony forward. Would you be okay with that?"

A huge smile formed on Edward's face. "Of course, I'm more than okay with that. What about the wedding?"

"Move it forward too?"

"I think we should. I can't wait. With every day that goes by I want nothing more than to be with you and tie myself to you."

Teddy tried his best impression of Edward's grin, "Mmmm, bondage."

"Don't be a perv." They both laughed at the comment. "When do you think we should do it?"

"As soon as we get back to London. I just wish we had done it before now, I know mother would have loved to be there." Ted could feel tears forming in his eyes.

Edward put his arm around Teddy and pulled him close, "Babe, she will still be there with us. She is part of you and no matter where you go or what you do, a part of her will always be there."

A few minutes later, they arrived back at the villa. Opening the door, they found Harry, John, Laura and the boys in the study. Dylan and Matthew were asleep, one on each side of Harry, on the couch.

Harry looked up as the two walked into the room. A smile formed on his face, "What are you two up to? You are both grinning like the Cheshire cat."

Edward burst out laughing, "I don't know what..."

Laura leaned forward in her seat, "Oh please, I can read Teddy like a book. I know just what he is smiling about. When are we going to London?"

Edward was on his back, staring up at the ceiling. So much had happened in his life over the past few months. He'd gone from a broken man, lost in his own feelings of loneliness, to one who knew who he was and what he wanted. The time since they returned to London had flown by. The legal requirements to register a civil union in the United Kingdom were easy, but still took time. Today was the day he had been waiting for. This was the day he and Teddy would be joined legally.

"Babe, it's time to get up." Edward's voice was soft.

Teddy didn't move, "I've been awake all night. Who could sleep?"

Edward leaned over and kissed Ted's cheek, "You were really still. If I knew you were up, we could have had some fun."

"It's bad luck to see the bride before the wedding." Teddy tried to push his head further into the pillow.

"Then you better shut your eyes." Edward grabbed Ted's sides and gave them a squeeze.

Teddy jumped in the bed, "Hey! None of that."

"You gonna join me in the shower?"

"Come on, just five more minutes." Teddy flung himself back at his pillow.

Edward just shook his head and stood, walking towards the bathroom.

Teddy lifted his head and watched Edward. He had to exercise immense self-control as he watched Edward's muscular form walking away from him towards the bathroom.

A few minutes later Edward emerged from the bathroom door, "Get up, baby."

"You're such a beast." Teddy tried to say it seriously. He looked at the man standing in front of him. Wearing a polo shirt and tan cargo shorts he looked very much like the first time Teddy had seen him.

Edward's cell phone rang and he answered it without even looking to see who it was, "Smythe"

"Edward, I've come to take you away for the day." Harry's voice sounded full of energy.

"Huh? I can't just..."

"Oh yes you can. You need to honor some traditions, so we've decided you're coming with us for the morning."

"I don't..." As Edward said it the door to his bedroom swung open. In came Harry and several members of the regiment.

Teddy was sitting up in bed, witnessing Edward being lifted from the spot he was standing. "The bag is behind the door." Teddy was smiling as he said it.

"You knew about this?"

"Of course I did. This way I can get some things done... Love you."

Edward had stopped fighting, "Love you too."

Laura was standing in the doorway of the bathroom as Teddy was staring into the mirror. "Penny for your thoughts?"

"I can't believe what's happening today, it's been a whirlwind lately. I'm not sure I actually know what I'm thinking or feeling. Lost? Happy? Some of each I think."

Laura moved and placed her hand on Teddy's back, "I know, I wouldn't expect anything else right now. You've both been through so much since you've been together, but think about the future. Given everything you've been through over the years, I'm not sure I'd be doing as well as you are."

"I can't wait to see him. He wouldn't tell me what he's wearing or anything else. All I know is that Harry is going to be standing with him, he won't tell me anything other than that."

"I can't believe you were confident enough to just let him plan this. I'm not sure I would have done the same thing with John."

Teddy smiled, "This one is all him. The one in Canada is all me."

"Ah, so now I know why you are so calm." Laura couldn't help but laugh.

"Well... That and the fact Harry and Stephanie were helping him. I shouldn't say that... I know I will love it no matter what he has planned."

All Laura could do is smile, "Just wait." Looking down at her watch she realized how much time she had to keep Teddy occupied.

"I keep forgetting to ask you. So, where are you going for your honeymoon?" Harry was sitting across from Edward.

"We aren't going on one right now. We're waiting until the actual wedding ceremony in Canada. Afterwards, we're headed to the Four Seasons Bora Bora."

"Bugger, you guys go all out don't you?"

"We wanted a spot where we would have privacy and also sun. It seemed like the perfect place, guess we'll see."

"Has he been there before?"

"No, that is the other thing. I really wanted a place neither of us has been to before."

Harry laughed, "Let's hope it turns out better than that bar you told me about."

Edward cringed at the thought of their experience in Ibiza. He tried to push the thought out of his head. Looking at his watch he felt a twinge of nerves in his stomach, "Looks like we need to start getting ready."

"You're about to be just another old married bugger, you know that, right?"

"And I can't wait."

When the car had pulled up at One Whitehall Place, Teddy was in awe. The hotel was incredible and from what Teddy saw so far, was perfect for what was to come.

Teddy was staring out the window looking across the street to the Ministry of Defense. He couldn't get over the architecture of this city. Laura came into the room smiling, "You look incredible."

Teddy smiled into the mirror, "Thanks, La. I can't believe this is really happening. I guess... after Philip, I thought I would just be alone for the rest of my life."

Moving to stand next to him, Laura looked into Teddy's eyes. "That was never going to happen. You're too good of a catch." She continued before he could interrupt her, "Not for your money either. I meant, for your heart. Any guy would be lucky to get you."

"Well, I think I'm the lucky one. I can't tell you how much I love him."

She slowly placed her palm against Teddy's cheek, "You don't have to tell me, we all see it in you. You're such a different person since Edward came along. You just have this aurora around you now that shows how much in love you are."

The door to the suite swung open, "Hey, dork! What is taking so long?"

"And... right on time, your husband arrives to ruin it all."

John entered the room, "Come on, everyone is waiting on you. You're not having second thoughts are you?"

Laura turned her head quickly towards her husband, "Shut it."

"Ha... Ha... No, I'm not having second thoughts. Laura was just asking me if I knew a good divorce lawyer."

Laura elbowed Teddy in the ribs, "Don't you start too."

"Okay, you two, it's time to get going." John smiled at his cousin, "You look great."

"Thanks, I think you're right, it is time."

Walking into The Whitehall Suite, Teddy was amazed at the spot. He had left the location up to Edward and he was happy he had. The room couldn't have been any better for their partnership ceremony. The red carpet on the floor made the cloth covered white chairs stand out. The wood paneled ceiling and incredible pillars along the walls gave the place an incredible feeling. Standing at the far side of the room was Edward, in a small group of officers from the Regiment.

Teddy made his way slowly towards the front of the room. He was stopped several times by people who were wishing him well and engaging him with small talk about the setting. The whole time he could barely keep his eyes off of Edward. His uniform making him ever the soldier and a dream come true. Teddy couldn't get over the number of people in the room. His family was easily spotted, along with Edward's family. What shocked Teddy was the presence of some he didn't expect. Harry was there, of course, as Edward's witness. William was also standing next to Edward and was a surprise to Teddy.

When he finally made it to the small group Edward was with, Harry was the first to speak to him. "Teddy, I'd like you to meet someone." Motioning to the young woman standing with William, "This is Will's fiancée Katherine Middleton."

"It's a pleasure to meet you." Teddy extended his hand towards her.

She grasped his hand, "Thank you for allowing me to share in this. My, what a wonderful spot you've chosen."

Releasing her hand, Teddy placed his hand on Edward's arm. "I wish I could take credit for it, but this is all his doing."

Edward smiled, "I hope you like it as much as I do." He was looking into Teddy's eyes.

"I love it." Teddy turned towards Harry, "Thank you for helping him find it."

"Do you know how many places he dragged me to, in the past couple weeks?" Harry was feigning distress. It caused everyone to laugh, "Actually, it was as close to helping with a normal wedding as I think I'm likely to ever get."

Before they could continue, the Registrar began to speak. "Your highnesses, ladies and gentlemen... It is time for us to begin."

It only took a few moments before everyone was in their seats. Teddy and Edward stood in front of the large fireplace at the front of the suite. Before them stood the Registrar, a nice looking middle aged woman who they had met when they returned from Italy. She had helped them finalize the paperwork and also plan for the ceremony.

Standing next to Edward was Harry and Teddy couldn't get over how they both looked regal in their uniforms. He then turned his head and looked at John standing next to him. Teddy couldn't get over how good it felt to have him standing there with him. The person who had been with him through everything that had happened in his life and helped shape the man he was.

While planning the ceremony, they had to be careful to avoid anything religious. The Civil Partnership Act had strict requirements, and that was the one thing Teddy was having the hardest time with. He knew it wasn't a wedding, but he still wanted to thank God. After much discussion he knew the ceremony in Canada would allow for that to be done publically, while he could do it privately here.

"We gather here today for the joining of Edward Charles Smythe and Theodore James Jackson. I want to thank you all, on their behalf, for being here today. That so many of you have traveled so far, is a great sign of your love and support for them."

"They also would like all of you to take a moment and remember those who are not able to be here today, namely Theodore's parents. I have no doubt that they are as happy as the rest of us for this day and the journey these two young men are about to embark on."

"Since this is not a religious ceremony, we don't thank spiritual beings or drink wine or eat bread. Instead we focus completely on these two young men and their future life together. Today is a time to celebrate them."

"I have spoken with both Teddy and Edward and it is important for everyone to understand something. This ceremony doesn't mark the beginning of a new part of their relationship; instead it is a public statement of their love and commitment for each other, as a couple looking forward to sharing the rest of their lives together. Lives that will include both the good and the bad, the sickness and the health, and the ups and downs of married life."

"Edward, I believe you have something you would like to say to Theodore?"

Edward turned and looked into Teddy's eyes. They were holding hands and he now placed his free hand on top of Teddy's hand he was holding.

"Theodore James Jackson, I stand before you as a new man, a complete man. That is in thanks entirely to you. When I met you, I was lost and broken. You picked me up and taught me what I had been missing my entire life. You showed me love that was pure and selfless. You opened your heart to not only me, but also my daughter. I look forward to raising her with you, in an atmosphere of love and respect. I will love you every day for the rest of my life and I can't wait to spend those days with you."

There were tears in Teddy's eyes as Edward finished. He knew it was his turn to talk, but he had to stop and breathe.

"Theodore, I think you have something you want to say to Edward?"

Taking another deep breath, Teddy started. "Edward, I stand here today in front of our families and friends, loving you more than I thought I ever could. Each day my love for you grows as does my complete devotion to you. You are the first thing I think about when I wake up in the morning and the last thing I think of when we go to sleep. The joy you have brought to my life completes it in a way I didn't think possible. You have become my partner in all we do and now you will be my partner in life. The fact that you have shared your daughter with me has allowed me to realize my dream of a family of my own. As we take this next step in our lives, I swear that I will continue to love you no matter what is to come. I look forward to spending the rest of our lives together."

As he finished, Teddy could hear Laura crying softly. He looked over and smiled at her, only to realize that she wasn't the only one crying. Edward's mother, Rose, was also crying.

The Registrant looked at Harry, "Your Highness, the ring please."

Harry reached into his pocket and pulled out an engraved platinum band. He smiled as he handed it to Edward.

"Edward..."

Looking down at Teddy's hand, Edward placed the ring in front of the finger. "I, Edward Charles Smythe, take you Theodore James Jackson, to be my husband, my partner, and my one true love. I will love you today, tomorrow, and forever. I will laugh and cry with you, I will respect and cherish you now and always. I will love you faithfully and unconditionally, throughout the good and the bad, for as long as we both shall live. This is my solemn vow to you."

As he finished, Edward slid the ring onto Teddy's finger. Edward couldn't help but smile as he did it, even though there were tears in his eyes.

"John, the ring please."

John couldn't help himself, he patted all of his pockets as if he had lost the ring. Edward laughed, while Teddy elbowed John in the ribs. "Sorry..." He pulled the ring from his jacket pocket and smiled as he handed it to Teddy.

Teddy looked to make sure he had the ring at the correct finger and then stared into Edward's eyes. "I, Theodore James Jackson, take you Edward Charles Smythe, to be my husband, my partner, and my one true love. I will love you today, tomorrow, and forever. I will laugh and cry with you, I will respect and cherish you now and always. I will love you faithfully and unconditionally, throughout the good and the bad, for as long as we both shall live. This is my solemn vow to you."

"With the power invested in me by Her Majesty's Government and in so much as Edward and Theodore have pledged their love for each other in the presence of their families and friends; it is my pleasure to pronounce them as husbands for life."

She smiled and looked at Edward, "You may kiss your husband."

"I've been waiting for that all day." Edward leaned in and placed a soul searing kiss on Teddy. He quickly forgot they weren't alone as he lost himself in the kiss.

The members of the regiment that were present, let out a collective yell at the kiss. Edward laughed and Teddy could feel himself blush. Everyone stood and cheered and they both blushed deeper at that.
