CHAPTER SIXTEEN: THE BREAKING POINT
TREY'S POV
We walked back into the house and I was getting sad again until I though of my Bear. I loved him and I knew that he loved me too. We just couldn't give up because we were able to see each other this time. Maybe there would be something that would help us see each other again. Maybe his mother would bring him back sometime.
I followed mom into the kitchen and she said she was gonna get dinner started. I decided to help her and just as she had gotten all the stuff ready Dad came in through the garage. He came in and kissed my mom, and kissed me on the forehead. The twins came in and got a hug too.
"So how's my family doing?" he asked jovially.
"Fine honey. How was your brother doing?" Mom asked as she started getting the ground beef ready since we were having burgers, fries, and my mom's famous coleslaw.
"Well, I saw her and she was a very beautiful woman" Dad said. He was talking about my uncle Eric's current girlfriend. He never dated anyone for more than a few months, but he had been seeing this woman for over 7 months which was definitely a record for him. I had wondered at some point if he was secretly gay.
"Well I hope she makes it the year before he dumps her" Mom said.
"I don't know Livvie, she has his nose open wide. This is my first time seeing them together as she's busy with her work, but he's like giddy around her and 7 months in too" Dad said sounding happy for his brother.
"What does she do?" I asked while chopping the veggies for the coleslaw.
"She's a pharmaceutical sales rep" he answered.
"So uncle Eric is dating a drug dealer" I said jokingly.
"No she's not a drug dealer Trey" Dad said looking shocked.
"Yes she is. Think about it, she travels around selling prescription drugs to doctors, and hospitals and such... a drug dealer" I said with a joking grin. Dad looked at me a second before looking at Mom who was mixing the burger meat trying to keep a straight face.
"Well, he does have a point" she finally said not able to stop the small smile from appearing.
"You two are insane" he said after looking back and forth between us a few times.
"We saw Bear" Carly said to Dad.
"What?" Dad asked then looked at Mom.
"April brought him by this afternoon and they stayed a while" she said.
"Why'd she do that?" he asked looking confused.
"Why do you think?" she asked him which caused him to look at me. Whatever he saw there made him smile a bit and he nodded his head. That was all that was said about that.
"What's going on?" we heard and looked to see Calvin coming into the kitchen looking a bit apprehensive. Everyone was silent for a few minutes before I decided that since he was reaching out I could break the ice between us.
"Uncle Eric's new girlfriend is a drug dealer" I said with a smirk.
"What?!" he exclaimed.
"She is not! Your brother is just being a butt-head" Dad said looking like he didn't know if he should punish me or laugh.
"She's a pharmaceutical drug rep" Mom said.
"So, a drug dealer?" Calvin said.
"Yup" I answered.
"Uh huh, well you all just better not say this in front of Eric" Dad warned.
A silence fell over the room and I looked to see Calvin looking at me. He was watching me intently, studying me and I just let him look. What he was looking for I had no clue. As he looked at me I saw his eyes get watery. He opened his mouth again to say something but closed his mouth again. I was about to speak when he rushed to me and grabbed me in a tight hug.
"I'm sorry Trey. I'm sorry I didn't stop Zane, I'm so sorry" he said his voice full of emotion. It took a few seconds but I finally hugged him back.
"It's okay Calvin" I said. No matter what he was my little brother and I had to love him. Besides he didn't physically harm me himself. I just wished Zane could have felt the same about me that I felt about Calvin.
"No you don't understand. I knew what he was gonna do, but I thought he was just gonna shove you around a bit. I never imagined that he would do what he did. I was too scared to stop him, and too scared to defy him because he looked so furious and filled with rage" he said. It weakened my resolve slightly but I put that aside because he was right. Zane scared me with how he looked as he beat me.
"I understand" I said as I continued to hug him. He pulled back and looked at me.
"For as long as I remember I heard from Zane and Dad that fa- homosexuals were gross and disgusting that I started believing it" he said and I looked to see a pained look on my Dad's face at the realization that he had contributed to Calvin's view of me. "When I heard you were... a homosexual, I just couldn't connect that with you. Then Zane was pumping my head with all his hateful words about you and telling me that we just couldn't have a fag for a brother. He said we had to "make you see the light" by any means necessary" he said and my hatred of Zane just increased more.
"Damn" I heard Dad mutter.
"Damn indeed" Mom agreed. I guess this was their first time hearing what had happened between Zane and Calvin that day after they walked off.
"He said you were disgusting. That all homosexuals were disgusting deviants, but when I saw you and Bear earlier in the family room, with him sitting between your legs on the floor and you running your fingers through his hair, you looked... sweet I guess. Then when I saw you two kiss, it was weird to see my brother kissing a dude, but it didn't disgust me" he said and I was shocked. I didn't know he had looked in on us in the family room, or saw our kiss.
"Wow, thanks dude" I said as I hugged him again and he hugged me back.
"Please say you forgive me" he said looking so pitiful.
"I'll forgive you Calvin but it'll be a while before things can go back to normal with us" I said honestly.
"Yeah I get that and I completely understand. I just want us to be brothers again" he said and I pulled him back to me.
"You'll always be my little bro" I said in his ear and his grip on me tightened and I heard a sniffle out of him. I guess things were starting to get a little better. All in all today had been a good day and I'd keep that with me as I slept tonight. I just hoped Bear had a good night's sleep as he dreamed of me because I planned to dream of him.
APRIL'S POV
Today had been truly illuminating. It had been 3 weeks since Drake had called my husband and told him that Bear was gay. It stunned me because I just knew he couldn't be gay. I had smelled the girl's perfume on his sheets and found a few pairs of panties in his sheets as well. I knew he was sneaking girls into his room using that tree outside his window. When I went to Lawrence he said don't worry and that Bear was just like any normal red-blooded teenage male and that he was gonna have sex.
I was against it but I knew that he'd just do it somewhere else so I tried to ignore it. What I could not ignore though was when he walked into the house and after being pressed admitted that he was gay and in love with his very male best friend.
When I heard him say that suddenly every memory that I could recall of the two of them together over the years played in my head and I heard all the times in the past he had said he loved Trey, that his father hated to hear as he said it made him sound like a sissy. All those times he had said it came back and it sounded exactly the same so that meant that he had always in one way or another been in love with Trey.
I remembered the first time Liv and I got them together. It was like two weeks after I had met her myself and Trey was standing while holding a toy truck. I put Bear down and he toddled over to Trey and Trey looked at him and dropped his toy. Bear picked it up and gave it back to him. They both smiled so big at one another and they have been inseparable ever since.
I remembered when they were 4 and I had told my rambunctious boy to stop stomping and jumping around or he would drop the ice cream Liv and I had just bought for them. He didn't listen and ended up dropping his. Trey looked at him and gave him his cone and Liv and I thought that was just so sweet.
I remembered when they were 7 and Bear had just won his first peewee football game. Trey ran up to him and Bear picked him up and swung him around. Trey told him how proud of him he was and I still remember the look in his eyes at hearing that from him. It was like Trey saying that was the greatest thing to ever happen to him. He didn't have the same reaction when his father and I and Brian told him the same.
I remember when he was 12 and proclaimed that from then on he was to be called Bear with that same look in his eyes and I realized then as the memories came that he only got that look whenever something had to do with Trey. I then recalled that I had seen the same look in Trey's eyes over the years and that was when I had to deal with the fact that my son was in love with a boy.
Lawrence didn't take it well at all and all the stuff he had done to keep Bear under lock and key was getting frustrating. I finally couldn't take seeing my baby boy so down and depressed that after Lawrence left I decided to take Bear to see Trey. I had an ulterior motive to see how they interacted since they were together.
When they hugged each other I saw the love between them reflected in their eyes as they looked at each other. Then Liv and I walked up to hear their sexy talk and I knew then that they had been intimate with everything they were saying. It was actually funny to see how embarrassed they were to be caught and their efforts to hide their erections. That really cemented it in my mind that they were gay and a couple.
Seeing them being comfortable sitting in Liv's family room was such a sweet touching moment. I just had to talk to Lawrence about this because our boy really loved this boy and they really wanted to be together. The final thing that made me sure was when they kissed. I wished Lawrence kissed me like that.
"You're quiet" Bear said as we neared home.
"Just thinking about things" I said. "You really love him don't you?"
"With all that I am" he said boldly and I admired him that he had someone and loved them so fiercely.
"So I guess you two have... you know?" I asked even though I didn't have any intention to ask this question originally.
"Have what?" he asked in return, but I knew he knew of what I meant because I saw his eye twitch slightly.
"You know what Bear" I said.
"Do you really wanna know mom?" he asked and I had to admit it was a good question. I suppose that what I overheard was proof enough that at least something had happened and that was enough knowledge. I didn't wanna think of my baby boy having sex at all, but if it was with only one person unlike what he was doing before I guess I could deal with it.
"I guess not" I said. We continued on in silence. I pulled into the driveway when we arrived at home and I saw Lawrence's truck in the driveway which meant he hadn't been there long or else he would have put his truck in the garage. I could feel an ominous something in the air, but I tried to put it out of my mind.
I got out of the car and Bear followed. I tried not to giggle at my overgrown boy pulling himself out of my compact. I guess I should have taken his truck. We went into the house and when we walked into the living room I knew something was up by the look on my daughter's face.
"Where have you two been?" Stephanie asked.
"Out. Where's your father?" I asked.
"He's in his study, but he's majorly pissed" she answered.
"What else is new" Bear said sarcastically.
"Uh uh Bear. He's way more pissed now than he has been before, especially recently" she said and for some reason I believed she was right.
"Go to your room" I told her.
"What, why?" she asked with a slight scowl.
"Because I told you to, now go" I said and she begrudgingly went upstairs.
"Mom maybe you should go somewhere else. I'll take the heat" Bear said but I couldn't do that.
"No honey I'll be fine" I said. No sooner than I finished saying that, that Lawrence came storming into the room.
"Where the hell have you two been?" he demanded loudly.
"Keep your voice down" I said.
"I asked a question" he said still with the heat to his tone. Stephanie was right in that he was even more pissed than he had been previously. I thought back on my conversation with Liv...
"So what are you doing here?" Liv asked me. The boys had just left the room, well Trey dragged Bear from the room as fast as he could.
"Honestly I don't know" I answered.
"You don't know how to deal with having a gay son" she spoke.
"Liv, this is just out of left field. I mean you know the things that are said about Bear, and I know they aren't just rumor or something" I said desperately trying to understand this.
"You mean Bear's... bedroom prowess?" she said diplomatically.
"Yeah, that" I said with a small smile.
"I know April. My son doesn't have any prowess that I'm aware of and it still threw me for a loop. It's taking a lot to see him as still my son when a vital piece of him is different than I expected" Liv said and I agreed.
"I wanted grandchildren. I expected that one day one of these girls would tie that boy down and he would fall for her and they'd get married and give me some grandchildren" I said speaking one of the things that had been on my mind.
"You know they can still have children, right?" Liv asked and I thought about that.
"Yeah I do, but all the hoops they will have to jump through" I said.
"I couldn't believe what I was hearing that day from that little bastard Drake. I didn't know what to do or how to deal with him. Then when the girls came to tell Evan and I that Zane was hurting Trey I just had to get to him. Nothing else was important" she said looking sad but what the hell was she talking about?
"What do you mean that Zane was hurting Trey?" I asked. Her eyes went wide for a second before she answered.
"You didn't know?" she asked me.
"Know what?" I asked. She proceeded to tell me about Trey being beaten by Zane. How she had thought Trey was dead. How she didn't know how to forgive Zane for what he had done. Hearing her tell this story broke my heart. To know that someone so sweet, if maybe a little snarky, as Trey would be beaten like that, and by his own brother no less had me angry at Zane.
I knew deep in my heart that Bear loves Trey and to know that someone my son loves had gone through something so traumatic, I didn't even know what to do so I just did what I could do. I hugged my best friend.
"I didn't know any of this. Is that why he has those bandages on his face?" I asked still not believing it.
"Yeah" she said with a sniffle. We took a seat before she continued. "That's most all the evidence that something happened, well physical evidence at least. Who knows what emotional trauma he sustained" she said and I agreed.
"I came to see them together" I finally said being honest with myself.
"Say what now?" she asked looking confused.
"I brought Bear over here to see him and Trey together with this new information. Seeing them hug was... it was different then any time they've done it before" I answered.
"Tell me about it. Seeing them kiss was shocking to say the least" she said and just hearing that shocked me.
"They kissed?" I asked.
"Yeah they did. That day before Bear left he kissed Trey, and let me tell you it was not a play kiss. There was tongue and everything" she said and I was stunned. I couldn't believe that just hearing this was surprising me. I knew that they were two normal teenage males who were gay and in a relationship so obviously more than kissing has probably happened, especially since Bear had intimated that they had indeed done something.
"Lawrence definitely would fly of the deep end if he were to see them kissing. Things are already tense around the house as it is, what with his extreme efforts to keep the boys apart" I said but she looked confused.
"What efforts?" she asked. It seemed the kids weren't talking to us about what they had been going through. I proceeded to fill her in on what had been happening with Lawrence and Bear and she looked just as shocked as I had been about Trey.
"We need to do something" she said after a minute of silence.
"I was gonna confront him after we got home. I can't take the look on Bear's face anymore" I said.
"Yeah I can imagine. Trey looks like he did when he was 12 and I just today found out that he was depressed because that's when he discovered his true feeling for Bear and what they meant" Liv said and I did remember seeing him really down at the time and hearing her telling me she and Evan were thinking of taking him to a shrink.
"It's not just the depression thing with Bear though that's getting to me. He looks at Lawrence with so much hate, and while Lawrence looks at him pretty much the same way, Bear's look has a dangerous vibe to it. He looks at Lawrence sometimes like he wants to kill him and I'm worried that he'll say something that will push Bear over the edge" I said.
"You better talk to him then, and if you need any help from me let me know. I know a few things about Larry that might help you reach the him that's under the surface of Lawrence Davidson" Liv said and I might need to take her up on her offer. It used to make me feel self-conscious that Liv knew things about my husband that I probably didn't know but I've gotten used to that by now. I was gonna do this though and I just hoped that it ended well.
Thinking back on that conversation as well as the things I had observed between the boys, I'd learned so many things about my feelings on this situation. Even though I still had my reservations about this, I knew that I could accept Bear being gay and in love with a boy. That boy being Trey made it easier to accept it. I prepared myself for this hard conversation with Lawrence.
"We were-" I started but was interrupted.
"I slipped out of the house and went to see Trey and Mom came to get me" Bear said cutting in. I knew what he was doing but I couldn't allow that.
"Well is that so?" Lawrence asked looking ready to explode.
"No it's not" I said. "Lawrence I took Bear over to see Trey" I added and his eyes looked like they were about to pop out.
"You what?!" Lawrence shouted.
"No she didn't. I slipped out to see Trey and she-" Bear said, but I stopped him.
"I took him to see Trey and you should have seen them. They were so sweet together" I said with a smile, but he didn't return it.
"Do you think I care how "sweet" they were together? How the hell could you do this" Lawrence asked loudly.
"Hey you watch the way you talk to her" Bear said with that dangerous edge that I had been worrying about. I had to deflate this situation.
"Bear, be quite" I said to him and he raised his eyebrows at me no doubt wondering why I was snapping at him. "Now you, I do care about my son being down and depressed. I couldn't take it anymore so I took him to see Trey" I said strongly hoping to impart my seriousness about this issue.
"Oh so if he was "down and depressed" about not being able to jump off a bridge I guess you'd take him to that bridge so he can jump?" he asked loudly.
"You're comparing my love for Trey to jumping off a bridge?" Bear asked just as heated.
"I wasn't talking to you Barry" Lawrence responded and this whole thing was getting too out of control.
"How many fucking times do I have to tell you that my name is Bear?" Bear shouted so strongly that it scared me.
"I named you Barry when you were born and that's your fucking name! Besides, do you think I'd ever call you a name that that sissy ass pansy gave you?" Lawrence shouted back.
"You've got one more time to talk about him that way" Bear snarled in an almost murderous tone. I had to stop this now.
"Stop this now, both of you" I said trying to jump in.
"Stay out of this April. If Bear wants to talk all big and overstep his bounds, then let him" Lawrence said.
"No I'm not-" I tried to say but he wasn't hearing it.
"I told you to shut the hell up. I haven't forgotten what you did and I'm gonna deal with you later. Right now I'm dealing with our son and his faggot" he snapped and I heard a terrifying sound. It was like a cross between a growl and a snarl.
It happened so fast that I don't think I could have stopped it if I had super speed. Bear grabbed Lawrence and slammed him against the wall so fast and so hard that I was surprised that he didn't go through it. He then wrapped his hands around Lawrence's neck and lifted him off the floor. Lawrence was struggling and flailing and kicking, but he couldn't get free.
"Bear! Let him go! Bear please you gotta stop! Stop it now" I yelled, but it was like he wasn't even there. All I heard is heavy breathing and growling and snarling and Lawrence gasping for air.
"Mom, what's going on!" Stephanie shouted as she came running into the room, but I couldn't deal with her now.
"Bear, please stop! You're gonna kill your father!" I yelled as I tried to pry his fingers from around his father's neck.
"Bear please let him go! You're gonna kill daddy! Mom, he's turning blue" Stephanie shouted as she started crying.
"Bear please, you have to let him go" I said while barely holding myself together. I thought and I suddenly knew what I had to do. I rushed to pull out my phone and dialed the Healey's house.
"Hello, this is Trey" Trey said as he answered the phone.
"Trey you need to help me" I said hastily.
"Mrs. Davidson what's wrong?" Trey asked sounding scared immediately.
"You have to help me stop him. He's gonna kill his father if he doesn't let go of his throat" I said now aware that I was sounding hysterical.
"Put the phone on speaker" he said and I did. "Bear, listen to me. You gotta stop. You can't kill your father, especially there in front of your mother" he said but it didn't seem like he was listening to Trey.
"Mom, he's closing his eyes" Stephanie said in a panic.
"He's not listening Trey" I said still hysterically.
"Baby listen to me. I love you and we can't be together of you're in jail. I know you're angry, because I am too. I'm so angry at people like your father and my brother but you can't be like them. You can't hurt people like that. Baby you can't be like Zane" Trey said and his voice broke near the end. I could remember Liv's worries about Trey still having emotional scars from when Zane attacked him.
"Trey" Bear finally said in a low snarl.
"Yeah big guy it's me" Trey said sounding slightly choked up.
"Baby..." he said sounding more like himself. He looked at Lawrence who I was surprised to see still conscious. His eyes went wide as he quickly released his grip on his father's throat and stepped back as Lawrence fell to the floor coughing and gasping and holding his throat which was a scary red.
Bear looked at me and I started toward him but he looked scared and rushed into the entryway and slid down to the floor and curled up into a ball. I walked over to him and put my hand on his arm. He looked up at me and he looked so scared. I didn't know what to do.
"Is everything okay" Trey asked which shocked me as I had forgotten him for a second.
"It's as well as it can be" I said honestly.
"I'll call you back" he said and then the call ended. This was definitely not the way I envisioned this evening going.
TREY'S POV
I couldn't believe what was happening. Bear's mother sounded so scared and so did his sister. I remember that sound over the phone. The growl/snarl that I had heard from years ago only more mature and frightening.
I can't believe after everything that had been happening that I never considered Bear was at a point that he could blackout like that again. Something serious must have happened at that house for Bear to snap like that and that just made me hate his father even more. I had to get my Bear out of the house.
"Trey what happened" Mom asked sounding worried. They were all looking at me.
"I don't know. All I know is that Bear went off and was hurting his dad" I said.
"Well after what April told me I'm not surprised" Mom said.
"What did she tell you?" Dad asked but he made sure to look at me. Mom went on to tell him all about what Bear's dad had done to him, which I guess was told to her by April when she was over here earlier.
"Damn" Calvin said.
"Damn indeed, and watch your mouth boy" Dad said.
"I gotta get Bear away from that house" I said as I took out my phone.
"How're gonna do that son? I definitely don't want you over at that house because I would hate to have to kill Lawrence" Dad said with a scowl. I loved how protective he was of me. It let me know that he still loved me no matter what. I pulled up the number I wanted and dialed and he answered.
"Hey buddy, how's things?" Sean asked in his usual chipper mood whenever he spoke to me.
"Sean, I need you to go over to Bear's place and get him" I said in a rush.
"What?!" he asked.
"You heard me. Something went down over there and I want you to go and get him, now" I said trying to get across my need for him to act urgently.
"How do you expect me to get him out of there? You know his dad has him on lock-down right?" he asked.
"Look Sean, just go over there now, and get Bear. Don't worry about getting in and getting him. I'll take care of that" I said with finality.
"Damn son, look who grew up" he said with admiration in his voice.
"Just go dude" I said.
"Okay, I'm on my way" he said and I ended the call.
"Trey how are you gonna get him out of there?" Mom asked. I just held up a finger as I dialed a number.
"Hello" April said. She still sounded worried.
"Listen to me, Sean is coming over there to get Bear and bring him over here. You're gonna let him do that" I said not harshly but in a strong tone that let her know that I was serious.
"Okay" she said after a minute of silence.
"Fine" I said and then disconnected the phone. I left the kitchen to go to the living room to wait.
SEAN'S POV
I hung up my phone and just looked at it. It seems that there was never a dull minute in Trey and Bear's life. Trey sounded desperate over the phone, but there was something else there that I hadn't ever heard from him. He sounded strong and in control which was a far cry most times from where he was.
I had noticed ever since I had become friends with him that he used snark and wit to cover up his insecurities, but you could still hear how insecure and self-conscious he was if you listened hard enough. That wasn't present in his voice just then. He sounded in command and in control and it was weirdly hot.
"What's going on" Marcus asked. He was helping our mother with cleaning up after dinner.
"There's always some drama in the lives of you gays" I said with a smirk. I liked messing with him.
"Trey is gay?!" my mother said in shock. I had forgotten that we hadn't told them that, and she had ascertained that I was talking to Trey on the phone.
"Oops. I didn't mean to say that. I... um..." I said.
"Real smooth dude" Marcus said shaking his head.
"Look Mom, could you like forget that I told you that? I don't think Trey would appreciate me telling you that after I told Marcus and Wayne without his permission" I said truly worried because I knew my mom wouldn't be able to resist smothering Trey with all her fag hag love.
"Sean honey, calm down. I already knew about Trey. Did you think that Bear Davidson coming out wouldn't be talked about in this town? We're not some small backwoods town but we're not all that big either" she said with a smile and I just knew that she had plans for whenever she saw the two of them again.
"Oh" was all I said, I told them that I was headed out and left to go and get Bear. I just hoped that I wouldn't have any trouble. I started to head for my car but decided to borrow my brother's truck instead because Bear was a big, tall guy who had trouble fitting in some cars which is why he had a truck.
I pulled away from my place and headed down the road toward the Davidson residence. They only lived about a 5 minute drive away from our place. When I got there I got out and headed for the door. When I rang the bell, the door opened and it was his sister.
"Hey Sean" she said in a soft voice. It had me worried that something bad had happened.
"Hey little bit. Where's you brother?" I asked, but she didn't answer, instead opening the door as an invitation to come in. As I stepped in I saw Bear was seated not far from the front door on the floor curled up into a ball. It looked funny on a guy his size.
"Hey Bear, Sean's here" Stephanie said. He looked up and his eyes were red and he had a kind of far away look on his face. He also looked terrified and I knew this look instantly from that day at school. I guess something had went down with his father.
"Hey buddy, Trey sent me to get you" I said as I crouched down to get closer to him.
"Trey?" he said in a broken, kind of distant voice.
"Yeah buddy. Your guy ordered me to come get you. I gotta admit that I even found it kind of hot the way he was" I said and he narrowed his eyes at me and I was happy I had received the response I was aiming for.
"Another fag I see. Is that boy the pied piper to sissy jocks?" I heard Bear's dad say, though his voice sounded weird. It was more of a strong whisper like someone had tried to choke... I looked at Bear and that dark, murderous look from that day at school was coming back as he glared at his father.
"Yes sir. I'm a fag. I'm the gayest gay jock there ever was. I'm so gay I make Elton John look like Vin Diesel" I said in a cold voice. I heard Stephanie snicker, and I even heard a snort out of Bear.
"I'm going with Sean" Bear said standing up.
"Is that so?" his dad asked.
"It is unless you want me to call my boys and we can all stomp your ass" I said.
"Sean, just take Bear and leave" his mom said.
"He's not going anywhere" his dad tried to raise his voice but I guess it's not a good idea to raise your voice after a giant jock with huge hands just got through trying to strangle you.
"C'mon dude" I said as I walked toward the door. He followed, but his dad again tried to protest but Bear turned and while I didn't see his face as I was behind him at that point, the looks on all their faces meant that he must have looked pretty scary.
"I'm going to Trey" he said in a tone of voice that chilled me to the bone. I guess he had been pushed too far.
We walked out of the house and got in my brother's truck. I sat there for a minute and looked at him, and saw that all that was bravado as his face had returned to that same scared look he had when I got there.
"It's gonna be okay buddy. I'm gonna get you to Trey and he'll take care of ya" I said and he nodded. I started the truck and headed over to Trey's all the while hoping that even with whatever bad things had happened today at this house that it would serve as a turning point for this situation.
TREY'S POV
I sat there kicking myself for letting Bear leave here. I should have known his dad wouldn't take his being over here well, especially since it was his mother that had brought him here. I found myself getting more and more angry at people like his dad, people like my brother.
It was probably a good thing that Zane wasn't around for his own good. I probably couldn't do much with his experience but I'd like to think my anger would make up for my lacking hand-to-hand skills. I waited until I heard a vehicle door slam followed by another. I got up with my family watching me and headed for the door.
When I opened the door I saw Sean and a haunted looking Bear. Seeing him like that hurt and made the fury within grow. I reached out and grabbed his hand to pull him to me. When he was close enough I wrapped my arms around him, but he didn't respond at first. After a minute he finally raised his arms and wrapped them around me tight and I immediately felt better.
"I'm a bad person" he said in a hoarse voice.
"No you're not big guy" I said strongly.
"Baby, I tried to kill my dad" he replied.
"He deserved it" were words spoken in my own voice but it was unlike any other time I had heard it because it was cold and bitter and angry.
"You guys gonna be alright?" Sean asked.
"Yeah thanks dude" I answered.
"Okay, well I'm gonna go but call me if you need anything" he said looking at us with something akin to pity in his eyes. I guess we were a pitiful duo, but that was about to change. I wasn't taking any shit anymore. I was gonna be with Bear and ANYBODY that had a problem with it would just have to deal with it.
"Will do" I said and he looked at us a couple seconds more before he headed for a truck that I didn't recognize. Maybe he had a truck too, or maybe it belonged to his dad or brother.
I led Bear into the house and when we made it to the living room my mom and dad both came up and pulled him into a hug when they saw him. After they pulled back and stepped away, surprisingly, Calvin stepped up and hugged him too which shocked him some, but he hugged him back.
"We're going up to my room" I said as I took Bear's hand.
"Um Trey, can I see you for a minute?" Dad asked.
"Sure" I said wondering what his deal was. He pulled me to his side before he started.
"I think maybe you better fix up Zane's room for Bear since I'm guessing he's spending the night" he said looking slightly uncomfortable.
"Why would I do that? Bear and I have stayed in the same room, in the same bed plenty of times. You even secretly helped us get some overnight privacy up at the cabin a while ago" I said wondering what was up with him.
"Well that was before" he said.
"Before what?" I asked.
"Before you were sleeping in the same house with him and all of us, and the fact that your mother knows about this now. Besides, we never let Zane have sleepovers with anyone he was seeing, and we're not going to with Calvin, so it would be unfair for us to do so with you" he said and when I got over being pissed for a second I could kind of see where he was coming from.
"Dad I'm pretty sure that sex is the last thing on Bear's mind, as shocking as that" I said because I was sure that he though about sex an awful lot.
"What about yours?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.
"I'm only looking to take care of him Dad. I promise you that we won't do anything. I just wanna make sure he's okay" I said.
"Yeah well I guess it'll be fine. Go on up" he said as he gave my shoulder a reassuring squeeze.
I thanked him and gathered Bear up and took him upstairs to my room with me. When we got there I walked us to my bed and took off my clothes except my underwear and then I repeated the my actions with his clothes. He just watched me the whole time not saying anything.
I then instructed him to lay down and I got in bed behind him and pulled the cover up over us. He lad his head on my chest and wrapped his arms around me tight and I ran my fingers through his hair which he would need to get cut very soon. I heard him sigh and then felt him relax a bit because he had been really tense when he got here.
"I love you Bear" I said softly.
"I love you too baby" he said hoarsely. After a few minutes I heard a soft snore from him and I knew he was asleep. I drifted off a few minutes later finally being with Bear again after what seemed like so long.
OLIVIA'S POV
I couldn't believe what I was doing. I was in this bedroom and I didn't know what I was gonna do or say, but I had to try. Something had to give in this situation, especially after last night, and sometimes drastic measures are needed in a situation. I heard a noise which let me know it was show time.
"Good morning Larry" I said as he woke up.
"Good morning Liv... Liv!" he said still sounding groggy, then shouting when he realized what he had said.
"You're awake, good" I said as I sat in his chair.
"What the hell are you doing in my bedroom?!" he asked loudly then pulled up the covers to hide behind as he was shirtless.
"Please, don't nobody wanna see any of that" I said as I stood and turned my back so he could get out of bed. I didn't really mean it though as Larry had a good body for a man his age, at least I guess he did as I'd only seen his chest.
"I find that hard to believe" he said and I rolled my eyes. I heard him get up and I heard rustling that sounded like clothes.
"Yeah, I forgot how cocky you were. It wasn't too bad when you were younger but now I see that it's reached epic proportions" I said snidely.
"How did you get in here?" he asked. I turned and saw he had his robe on and was glaring at me.
"I broke in" I said sarcastically while glaring back. "How do you think I got in dumbass."
"April" he seethed.
"Yes, your darling wife let me in so we could talk" I said.
"Well I don't want to talk. I want you to leave, now" he said harshly.
"Well I'm not gonna leave and we are gonna talk" I replied.
"Says who" he asked.
"Says me" I answered giving him a pointed look.
"What shall we talk about?" he asked with attitude.
"I wanna know what happened to you. How did you become... this?" I said as I had been wondering this for a long time.
"What do you mean by "this"? There's nothing wrong with me" he said.
"Yes there is. I wanna know what happened to that 7 year old boy who bought me an ice cream cone when he didn't even know me? Do you remember that" I asked because I knew he wouldn't. He surprised me though by siting down and then started talking.
"You were 6 and was headed up to the ice cream stand at the park. I guess your mother wasn't paying attention because some older kids came by and pushed you down after they took your money and then ran. I took off after them but couldn't catch up" he said sounding unlike he had ever since we had met up again 15 years ago.
"You helped me up" I said remembering how impressed I was with him from the start.
"Yeah, well I couldn't just leave you there. I bought you an ice cream cone even though I was gonna get two for myself" he said.
"Because you were a little piggy" I joked.
"Yeah you told me that when I told you that then. You attached yourself to me after that" he said with a smirk.
"I did not attach myself to you. I maybe followed you around a bit... okay maybe I did attach myself to you" I begrudgingly admitted.
"We were thick as thieves after that. You were kind of a tomboy who could outdo me in some things. No barbie dolls and dresses for you, and nobody was fool enough to mess with you because they knew you would kick their asses" he said.
"Yeah, you would do good to remember that" I said and he rolled his eyes. "It was great though, for some time anyway. What happened to that boy?" I asked.
"Nothing happened to me" he said with an edge to his voice.
"Yes it did. It started when you were in high school. You got there before me and by the time I got there you were different. You hung with only white boys and didn't even want anyone to know you knew me" I said still remembering how hurt I had been.
"Are you trying to say I'm a racist? I think that's stupid because if I remember one of my closest friends is black. I think you might know her" he said.
"Except, we aren't that close. We haven't been since before high school. I can count on one hand the number of times over the last 15 years that we have had any kind of one on one discussion" I said.
"I'm a married man. It wouldn't exactly look good for a married man to be spending time alone with a married woman, especially one he had history with" he said in his defense.
"That's not it Lawrence. You changed after you started high school. You barely talked to me and only hung out with white people, and you know what? Your son is the exact same way" I said to him and he looked like what I had said really pissed him off.
"Is that right, because I recall my son being in a "relationship" with your son" he said bitterly.
"You know I'm talking about Brian. Have you ever seen him associate with any black people, aside from my family?" I asked adding the last part when he looked to protest.
"I'm not a racist and neither is Brian" he said adamantly.
"Whatever Larry" I said dismissively. He looked at me and I looked at him.
"You're still the only person to call me Larry" he said which was true.
"Larry, our sons are gay. They are gay and in love with each other and-" I said but he interrupted.
"I don't wanna hear that" he said through gritted teeth.
"Why not? They aren't hurting anyone and they want to be together. Judging by what I heard happened to you last night I'd say that you've pushed them too far" I said trying to get through to the Larry that I hoped still resided in the shell of Lawrence.
"The look in that boy's eyes... I know he intended to kill me. I thought I was gonna die" he said as he sat back down with a haunted look on his face.
"That may be true, but he didn't, thanks to my son who you called... what did you call him again..." I said thinking it probably wasn't a good idea for April to tell me all the stuff Larry had said about Trey.
"Liv, come on" he said like he didn't want to hear me say it but I was gonna.
"Right, you called him names like sissy, faggot, queer, pansy, cocksucker" I said harshly. At least he had the decency to look slightly remorseful.
"Stop! Just stop" he said holding up his hand.
"Why would I stop? This is all stuff you said, stuff you thought about my son Larry. Are you sorry for any of it?" I asked.
"What do you want me to say?" he asked.
"I want you to tell me the truth dammit" I snapped.
"Do you really want me to tell you the truth" he said as he stood and faced me.
"Yes" I said.
"Why couldn't they just be straight" he said as he deflated.
"Because they aren't" I said.
"Do you think this is history correcting itself?" he asked.
"Like what?" I asked in return.
"You know, we didn't get together, but now our sons are a couple" he replied.
"No I don't because we were never gonna be together so there's nothing to correct" I said.
"Oh come on. You know you had a crush on me" he said smirking again.
"I think you need to go back to sleep and wake up again because you obviously didn't do it right the first time" I responded.
"No I remember it right" he said as he walked by me and headed out of his room. I followed him protesting his insane memory recall all the way.
TREY'S POV
Things were gonna change today. I had been up for about an hour now just watching Bear sleep. Bear looked so handsome when he slept. His beautiful masculine face with his not thick beard was making it hard to keep my libido in check. I had a mission today and I needed all the focus I could muster so being distracted by how good Bear looked.
I had been thinking about this ever since I woke up and I was sure I could do it now. I had to because things weren't going back to the way they were with me and Bear being kept apart. He was my guy, I was tired of his father going to extreme measures to keep us apart. I heard him stir and then he opened those beautiful eyes and looked at me.
"Morning baby" he said with a sleepy smile.
"Morning big guy. How did you sleep?" I asked.
"I slept pretty good lying next to you. How about you?" he asked.
"Same here Bear. As much as I'm enjoying laying here with you though we need to get up and get dressed" I told him.
"Why? Can't we just lay here for a while?" he asked and then kissed my stomach.
"We can't because we have something to do today" I said as I ran my fingers through his hair which was something I found I loved doing lately. I guess he liked it too judging by how he closed his eyes and sighed.
"What do we have to do?" he asked.
"We have to go to battle my strong warrior" I said with a seductive smile.
"Wow that was hot" he breathed.
"I know, now get that great ass of your in gear" I said as I slapped his perfect ass and hopped out of bed.
I went and took a quick shower and went back to my room and started to get dressed. I was comfortable with my nudity in front of him by this point so I didn't bother putting on anything until I got all my clothes together. He watched me as I got dressed giving me sexy looks and it took everything I had not to get back in bed and fool around with him, but two things stopped me. One was that I promised my dad we wouldn't do anything... at least right now we wouldn't, and two was that we had something to take care of.
Bear finally got up and started to put on his clothes while shooting me heated smiles. After we were dressed and our teeth brushed he gave me a deep passionate kiss that took my breath away. Damn that boy could kiss. We headed downstairs and saw Dad fixing breakfast with Calvin and the twins in the kitchen.
"Hey people" I said as I walked up and flicked Calvin's ear like I did every so often.
"Hey son, you two sleep okay?" he asked
"Yeah Trey, did you two "sleep" okay in there?" Calvin asked while smirking.
"We slept fine... kid" I said while smiling because I knew he hated being called a kid.
"Screw you jackass. I ain't no kid" Calvin said and I laughed.
"Watch your mouth Calvin. I'm not asking you again" Dad said in a stern voice.
"A'ight fine, jeez" he said. Bear walked over and ruffled the twins' hair.
"Where's mama?" I asked as I walked over and grabbed a couple pieces of bacon and handed one to Bear.
"Don't know. She said she had something to do this morning and that I should feed the young'uns" he said with a cheesy grin.
"Young'uns?" we all said.
"Whoa that was cool. Quick say something else" Dad said.
"As much as I would like to, Bear and I have something to do" I said.
"Like what?" Calvin asked.
"Well I asked but your brother is being secretive" Bear said looking at me.
"Let's go mountain man" I joked
"That's what you look like" Calvin said.
"You gonna get that shaved son?" Dad asked as he finished with the eggs.
"Well I would but Trey loves my body ha- oof" he said as I gave him a shot to the side with my elbow.
"What was that now?" Dad asked with a grin.
"Nothing, and we're outta here" I said as I dragged Bear out of the kitchen toward the front door. I could hear my dad and Calvin laughing as we left.
We got outside and I decided to take the SUV so Bear could have some leg room so I ran back inside and got the keys from my still laughing dad. He kissed me briefly when I came back out as I guess he figured what I had done that for. It was great and weird to have him kiss me out in the open like this. I kissed him again for slightly longer then we got in and I headed for our destination.
"You gonna tell me where we're going baby?" he asked after a bit of silence.
"We're going to your house" I said and his grip tightened on my hand that he was holding.
"Why are you going there? Can't we just enjoy this time we have before... before it's over?" he asked looking sad again.
"Big guy, when we're done today we will be able to see each other whenever we want" I said confidently because I didn't intend to have this day end without settling things with Bear's dad. I wasn't gonna have Bear snapping like that again and killing his dad and being taken away from me. We were gonna settle this today.
"What are you do, kill my old man?" Bear asked looking worried that he had to go home again no doubt.
"If I have to" I said but I didn't like that cold manner that I said it. I meant it but I didn't wanna say it like that because that man no matter what was still Bear's father. I didn't like how cold at times I was becoming since Zane attacked me.
We continued on in silence and Bear's grip on my hand tightened. I didn't like how shaken and unsteady Bear seemed. I guess almost killing your father can really mess you up, and that thought made me wonder what Zane had been thinking since he had attacked me.
We arrived at Bear's house and I pulled into the driveway... and I saw my mom's car there. What on earth could she be doing there I wondered. I got out of the SUV and Bear followed and we walked up to the house. Bear rang the bell because I guess he didn't have any keys. His sister opened the door and her eyes went wide for a second before she grabbed him in a hug.
He hugged her back and after a minute they separated. She then looked at me for a few seconds before speaking to me and telling me that my mom was here. I asked what she was doing here but she didn't know. She led us inside and we walked into the living room to see our mothers there sitting and talking.
"Hey honey" April said as she stood and walked over to Bear and hugged him and he hugged her back. She then surprised me when she hugged me after she and Bear separated.
"Thank you" she whispered in my ear before stepping back from me. I just nodded to her and she smiled.
"Where's dad" Bear asked non too kindly. April was about to answer when we heard his voice.
"Right here Barry" Lawrence said in a not friendly tone. He walked up to Bear and they stared at each other.
"Lawrence" April said in a warning tone.
"We're here to talk to you" I said and I was surprised with how strong I sounded. I just hoped it held out.
"Really?" he asked as he narrowed his eyes at me and folded his arms. I remember reading once that this was a defensive stance which oddly made me more confident that he felt the need to defend against me.
"Yeah" I said. Bear rested against the arm of the sofa my mother was sitting on and pulled me up against him and wrapped his arms around me. Feeling his strength gave me more strength to do this. He focused intently with a slight frown on us as we stood like this. He then took a seat next to Stephanie on the other sofa. "I love Bear and he loves me. We're both males and we're in love with each other" I said to get that out there first.
"So I've heard" he said kind of curtly.
"Yes well I'm telling you again. I'm also telling you that this whole thing is done. We're gonna see each other. We're gonna see each other whenever we want and you're not gonna stop us. Now I realize that this is your house and you have the right to say who can and can't come into it so I won't come here if that's what you want but this day isn't gonna end with things as they have been the last 3 weeks" I said still sounding strong.
"Is that so?" Lawrence asked again in that curt manner.
"It is, because we're in love and we deserve to be together. You may look at us and say that we're too young to know that we love each other, or that two males don't belong together but that doesn't matter to us. I want you to think about the first time you saw your wife and remember what you felt. Remember how you felt when your love was young and new" I said and he looked at April and smiled a smile that I hadn't ever seen on him before, but I had seen it whenever Bear looked at me.
"I remember" he said in a whisper as they gazed into each other's eyes smiling.
"Now I want you to imagine that your dad or her dad forbid you two from being together. That either of them went to the extremes that you did to keep you two apart and tell me how you would have felt" I said. I saw something in his eyes when I said that, and I know that April say it too because a look of curiosity briefly flashed across her face.
"I would have fought like hell to get what I want" he said with a serious look of concentration on his face.
"So now you see why I'm here. This is the beginning of me fighting like hell. I'm gonna be with Bear and I'm not going to let ANYONE stop me anymore" I said. He looked at me for what seemed like hours but was only a couple of minutes before he stood and walked over to us. I worried before he reached out his hand and I figured he wanted to shake my hand so I shook his hand.
"Anybody ever tell you that you would be good a public speaker" he asked.
"No, but it's something I can consider" I said with a smirk.
"Ah great just what I needed" Bear said with a groan.
"What's the matter Bear, you worried Trey will now win every argument?" Stephanie asked.
"I got an ace in the hole" Bear said and the mothers snorted for some reason.
"Barry, I can't promise anything because I can't wrap my head around this, but I guess I can try to keep my mouth shut until I deal with this" Lawrence said but he looked like he said it begrudgingly.
"Just call me Bear and I'll know you're trying. Trey gave me that name and it may seem stupid to you but it means a lot to me" he said and I just smiled.
"I... guess I can try to call you... Bear" he said like he was embarrassed to say it.
"Okay, and just so you know, I am sorry that I did that, but not about the message behind it. I love Trey and Mom and I would do anything to anyone who talked about them like you did" he said and I felt his serious intent.
"Okay, and I'm... sorry that I disrespected Trey. I already apologized to your mother" he said.
"Good thing. Trey and I are going out for a while" he said I think to see what his dad would do.
"Go ahead" Lawrence said and I could tell it was really a struggle for him to deal with this. He would just have to though because the events of the last 3 weeks were over. It was time for a new start to all our relationships.
We each kissed our mothers and Bear kissed Steph on the forehead before he grabbed my hand and led me upstairs. When we were alone he pushed me against his door and kissed me like his life was depending on it and I returned the kiss in kind. Before I knew it we were both moaning and groping each other. We were so frenzied that I worried briefly that we'd burst into flames with all the friction.
After about 5 minutes of this we pulled back and took a breath. He then said he wanted to take a shower since he didn't take one at my house as he didn't have a change of clothes. He took off his clothes slowly giving me a striptease and I enjoyed the show.
He went into his bathroom and took a quick shower while I sat on his bed and when he came out all wet and clean and glistening, I had to drop to my knees and appreciate that awesome dick of his. I gave him a quick but satisfying blow-job and he offered to return the favor but I declined. I had other plans and when I was done he was gonna be way more appreciative than now.
He got dressed and by the time he had done so I was regretting not letting him give me that blow-job. I used one of his extra toothbrushes to brush again and we were ready. He said he wanted to go and get his hair cut and asked if I wanted to be dropped off anywhere and I told him no. I reminded him that I was driving, but he said that he was gonna get his truck and I was gonna drop the SUV back home. I just shook my head and followed my Bear out of his room so we could start a new chapter of our lives now that we were out and together again.
To be continued.... *************************************************************************************
Editor's corner: Hope you all enjoyed that chapter from Nicky, Trey is finally fighting back and working on a new chapter in there lives together. Hopefully it works out though they are sure to face some hard times ahead.
We see Calvin has come around and that it was mainly Zane influencing him to be in that room but according to Calvin, Zane went further then he said he would. Hopefully we learn what is Zane's problem soon.
Bear's father finally pushed the wrong buttons and Bear went off the deep end, at least Trey was able to pull him out of it, and it was smart to get Bear out of that house before something else happened.
And of course Trey standing up to Lawrence like he did. Though I think the little talk that Trey's mother had a little something to do with it since she talked to him before they even showed up.
But I can agree with Lawrence about Trey being a great public speaker, and giving him a good point of view if his parent were pulling the same stuff he has been doing with Bear and Trey.
As always comments are welcome to Nicky and myself, you can reach me at jd.kaster1987@gmail.com.
Author's Notes: Bear was finally pushed to the breaking point and he snapped. His dad got what he deserved, but Trey was able to prevent things from going too far. Is this the last of Bear's blackouts?
Trey and Calvin have started patching things up and Trey hears what happened that day between his brothers. Is Zane a truly evil human being or is there more to this riddle that is Zane Healey?
Trey also reaches his breaking point and decided to stand up to Bear's dad. Will this be the end of his acts of resistance toward the boys?
I hope you all like this chapter and I apologize for the delay. You can check out my blog at nick-s-world.blogspot.com and you can email me at thestoryguy9783@gmail.com with any comments on the story or just any email you feel like sending. Until next time....
