Chapter 9

--Jess's Point of View--

After school was done on Monday, Daniel and I met at our lockers. We talked to a couple of friends for a few minutes. It was so strange to me that the events of the past weeks had gained me friends. I didn't know most of them that well, but everyone seemed to talk to me now. Well, I guess that's not a completely true statement. There were those, of course, who hated the fact I or anyone else in the world was gay. Daniel and I, along with others, got the funny looks, and the fag calls. I took it all in stride. I never thought it was anything too serious and hoped it would never get that way.

We decided it would be a good time to get my car from Jeremy's house since we knew he would be at football practice. Daniel had decided after my problems and with him getting kicked out of the house that he was going to give up football. He was the kicker on the team. He always said he only did it to keep in shape, but now other things in life were more important to him than football. He had friends to be with, college to prepare for, and life to live. It actually was kind of nice having Daniel around more. We headed out to the back parking lot which was reserved for those involved in sports. At our school cars were given parking permits good for only certain spots, so even though Daniel was no longer on the team he would be parking there for the rest of the year.

When we got outside, we could hear the football team practicing. The practice field was right on the edge of the parking lot. As we got closer to the car, we could hear Coach Reynolds barking out orders and chewing someone's ass big time. It caught the attention of both of us. We looked over to see the coach practically dragging a player by the face mask to the bench. We didn't know who it was at first, but the coach was screaming at the top of his lungs at the player while other coaches continued running drills with the remaining players. Coach spun the unlucky player around, revealing the jersey with the number 7 on it. Both Daniel and I froze in our tracks, looked at each other, then turned back to the field.

Number 7 was none other than Jeremy. How could the coach be yelling at his golden boy? We listened to what the coach was screaming. "SON OF A BITCH, LAWTON! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? I HAVE HAD IT WITH YOUR SHIT! IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT THIS TEAM, DON'T RUIN IT FOR THE REST OF US. YOU'RE DONE! YOU'RE ON THE BENCH! GET YOUR ASS TO THE SHOWERS AND SIT IN THE LOCKER ROOM UNTIL PRACTICE IS DONE!" Coach then released his grip on Jeremy's face mask.

Jeremy turned with his head down and began running to the locker rooms. The path he was taking would bring him right by us. As he approached Daniel and I were at his car. When he got to us he looked up and stopped for a minute. He still had his helmet on and was pouring sweat. I could also tell there were tears streaking down his face. He looked like shit. He looked at Daniel first, who just glared at Jeremy. Getting no sympathy there, Jeremy turned his gaze to me. I could barely hear him say the words, "I'm so sorry!"

He might well have been sorry. But I didn't know how genuine he was, or even what he was sorry for. Was he sorry for telling me, sorry for getting caught, or sorry for doing what he did? I didn't really know, and furthermore, I didn't really care. I just turned to the car and opened the door. As I got in I said to Daniel, "Lets go." We both got in the car, and Daniel started the engine and drove away. At first Jeremy just stood there, but soon began trudging off to the building with his shoulders down and his head hanging low. I was glad that I decided for us to go and to move on with my life, or I would be in the same spot as Jeremy was now. A totally beaten man, he'd made his choice with Chad, and now he had to live with it.

As we drove out of the lot, Daniel pulled over to the side for a minute. "Jess, I can never even begin to thank you enough for all you have done for me. First, for being my friend, then for this awesome car, and even letting me live with you. I don't deserve any of it. None! You are just such a kind, loving, warm soul."

"Daniel," I said, "No thanks are needed. I enjoyed doing it for you. You've paid me back time and again. The way you helped me after the beating, then again you came to my aid when this new fiasco went down. You're so special to me in so many ways." I said this, then leaned over and gave him a loving kiss on the side of his face.

Daniel just blushed at that point, and a tear trickled out of his eye and ran down his cheek. He sniffled his nose, and I think he was trying to hide the fact he was also upset.

"What's wrong, Daniel?" I asked, grasping his hand.

"Jess, it's my family. I miss my mom so much. I want to go see her, but I know I can't. If my stepfather ever found out, he would either beat me or my mom. I don't care so much about myself -- I can fight back. It's my mom I'm worried about."

"You think it's really that bad? Do you think he is hurting her anyway?"

"I would not put it past him, but I think she is safe ... as long as I stay away."

"Awww, Daniel ... I am so sorry."

Daniel pulled himself together, and then he asked, "Are you sure about Jeremy?"

I took in a deep breath, then slowly released it. "Daniel, I am more sure about it than anything. He did something that I could never forgive. The cheating was bad enough, but who it was with is unforgivable to me. I will always care about him, but I can't be with him. I refuse to fall into the trap he is now in. I have moved on, and that's all there is to it."

"I agree with you and think you have made the right choice." Daniel then put the car in gear and headed toward Jeremy's house. About ten minutes later we pulled up to the house. It looked like both Rachel and Joe were home early today. It was very unusual for them to be home this at this hour. I would have liked to just go and get into my car and leave, but I couldn't do that to them. They deserved some explanation. How much I would actually tell them I didn't know. For all I knew, maybe Jeremy had already told them. The only question was, what did he tell them exactly?

"We've got to go in for a few minutes and talk to them. They deserve that," I said.

"Yeah, I totally agree. This is not going to be easy, though. They have done so much for both of us. What Jeremy has done is going to kill them, you know." I sighed deeply, knowing Daniel was right.

As we got out of the car and walked up to the front door, I felt funny for the first time since we moved in there. When we finally got to the door I was hesitant. I didn't know exactly what to do. I didn't feel right just going in, so I rang the doorbell and gave Daniel a confused sideways look.

When Rachel came to the door she looked shocked, sad, and scared. "Come in here, both of you!" she cried. "We have so many questions." Rachel gave us each a warm hug as we walked in. "Why are you ringing the doorbell?" she asked. "You both know this is your home."

She led us into the living room where Joe was already sitting. Daniel and I sat down on the sofa. Both Joe and Rachel looked totally lost. Finally, Rachel started, "Well, boys, we have noticed that neither of you has been here for a couple of days now. Jeremy seems very scarce also. Please tell us what is going on."

"Rachel, Joe, this isn't easy for us to tell you. You have both been so wonderful to both of us. There is no way we could ever repay you or thank you enough for all you have done." I looked at them and tried to read what they were thinking.

"Daniel and I have decided that we need to move out to our own place. We have a friend, Chase, who found us a nice apartment in his building, and we are staying at the Super Eight until we can move in. I didn't think it was fair for us both to move in with my dad in his small house. This was just the best choice, with everything that has happened."

"Boys, this is so sudden. We just don't understand. Please tell us what has happened. If it is something that we have done, please just tell us. We never meant to hurt either of you," Rachel said, with a look of worry on her face and a tear coming out of her eye. This was the first time I think I had ever seen the woman cry.

Daniel spoke up immediately. "Oh my God, Rachel ... Joe, please never think it is anything you caused! You have been perfect. You have been overly generous. I think I am speaking for both of us when I say that you have been like second parents to us. Please, it is nothing you have done."

"Then please, boys, tell us what it is. We need to understand. What is it?" Joe asked.

I looked down at the carpet, just staring. I knew I had to do this, but, I was having a hard time. I gathered my strength and courage. Finally, I swallowed hard and blurted out, "It's Jeremy and me. We are not together anymore."

"What? What happened between you two? It can be fixed. You two are so in love and so right for each other," Rachel asserted.

"I am assuming Jeremy has not talked to you about this yet. I think maybe it's best if you talk to him and ask him why," I offered.

"Please, Jess, we need to know. Jeremy has not been around much either, and when he is, he is almost silent. I can tell he is hurting."

"Well, I guess that's my fault. I am the one who broke it off with him. Things were just not right between us. Let's just leave it at that, and move on." I tried to put an end to the painful conversation.

Before I had even finished the sentence, Daniel was clearly agitated. More precisely, he was pissed off. "Damn it, Jess! I have had enough. None of this is your fault. You know it and I know it. Stop trying to cover up for that asshole. It's all fucking Jeremy's fault! Now, goddamn it, tell them the truth!" he spat out.

This is the first time I had ever seen Daniel this mad and use words like that in front of Joe or Rachel. The three of us sat there totally stunned for a moment. After a moment, Rachel spoke up, "You need to watch your mouth here, Daniel. And I don't appreciate my son being called names like that either."

I began, "Rachel ... Joe ... Daniel is right. I was trying to protect your feelings. You have done so much for me. I didn't want to hurt you. But you do deserve to know the truth. I doubt if Jeremy will ever tell you, but you deserve to know the simple facts."

"Well, I can see you must also now have a pretty low opinion of our son. It seems things have changed. After all the love he has given you, how can you leave him?"

"Well, I have a pretty good reason, but I will let you be the judge of it. Once I have told you, Daniel and I will leave."

"Fine," Rachel replied.

"Rachel ... Joe ... I don't know why Jeremy did what he did. Maybe some day he can tell me. That is one thing I would really like to understand. You have to know I really did love and care for Jeremy. He was my first true love, so he will always be special to me. But the truth is that he cheated on me by having sex with someone else," I said.

"Well, did he go back to some girl or something?" Joe demanded.

"Not that it matters, cheating is cheating and it's wrong. But, no, it was with another boy," I told them, slightly upset. I also think Daniel was getting irritated again, but he decided to hold his tongue.

"Can't you forgive him and work it out?" Rachel asked.

"Believe me, I wish it could be worked out. But Jeremy has done something I could never forgive. I hoped I would not have to share this with you, but I guess I'll have to. The person he had sex with was Chad." I said flatly.

Both of them got instant looks of horror and disgust on their faces. They could not even begin to respond. I knew what I had said ripped at their souls, just as it had mine. They knew what Jeremy had done was wrong and unforgivable. I knew how Rachel felt about what Chad had done to me. The wind was completely gone from both of their sails. Joe had his arm around Rachel, providing support. I grabbed Daniel by the arm and helped him up. While Rachel and Joe sat there in their own pain, Daniel and I quickly made our way to the front door. Rachel made it to her feet and came after us. She put her hand on my shoulder, and I turned around. She pulled me into a hug with tears steadily streaming down her face. I felt Daniel at my back and he placed his arms around both of us. It surprised me when Joe did likewise, wrapping his arms around all of us as far as he could. There the four of us stood. We soon broke the hold, saying nothing.

Once outside, Daniel and I headed to our respective cars. I got in mine, sat behind the wheel for a few seconds, and took in a deep breath. What had just happened was one of the hardest things I had ever done. It had shocked and devastated the two people still standing motionless, arm in arm, inside the house.

I put my key into the ignition, started the car, and Daniel and I were off to the hotel. A little while later, we had both parked our cars and walked into the hotel's front entrance. It was later than I thought. It was going on seven o'clock.

Meanwhile, across town, Jeremy was behind the wheel of his car with Ryan in the passenger seat. Jeremy was depressed over everything that had happened in the past days. He had ruined his relationship with Jess and now it was affecting other areas of his life as well. He had been stripped of his starting quarterback's role, he was not doing homework, and his grades were already on a downward spiral. Ryan gave Jeremy directions to where they were going. Jeremy thought to himself, Why the hell am I listening to this stoner? On the other hand, what's the difference? At least he'll talk to me, and Ryan said he could help with things. I'm not sure what help he can offer, but I might as well find out.

Soon they pulled up to an old, broken down, grungy-looking house on the far north side of town. Jeremy looked around while he parked on the lawn. This was for sure a seedy part of town. He was not sure he wanted to be there. He thought to himself, What the fuck? Oh, might as well ...

Jeremy got out of the car and joined Ryan, who was already walking up the ramshackle front porch. As Jeremy stepped on the first step, he wasn't sure it would hold up under his weight. It creaked and moaned, but held. Jeremy looked around. It seemed the whole house was in the same state of disrepair.

He quietly followed Ryan through the front door. Once inside he could smell cigarette smoke plus a lot of stale air. In the living room there were two worn out couches, each holding two people in various states of undress. One was a pair of guys, one of whom was about to be fucked by the other. The second pair was a guy and a girl, who were in a heavy make out session. They didn't even notice that the new arrivals. Jeremy wondered if he had been alone, as a stranger, if they would have even noticed his presence.

Still following Ryan, they went up a flight of stairs to a small landing. There were clothes and junk spread everywhere around the house. Regardless of who owned this dump, it was obvious the house had not been cleaned in a long time. It was small and cramped, and the entire upstairs consisted of only two rooms, both bedrooms. Ryan opened the door on the left and went in. He threw his bag in the corner, went in, and plopped down on the bed. He turned on the television and busied himself watching something. The room was maybe in a little better state of cleanliness than the rest of the house, but not by much.

Sooting over, Ryan motioned for Jeremy to come over and join him on the bed. Jeremy was not sure what the hell was going on, but he decided to go along with it and see where things led. Once both boys were comfortable, or at least as comfortable as Jeremy could make himself in such squalor, Ryan took his hand and started rubbing Jeremy's crotch. Instantly, Jeremy's jeans started to expand.

Jeremy hopped up off the bed. "What the fuck are you doing Ryan? Is that the help you want to give me?"

"Hell, yeah ... among other things. We're both gay high school guys. We need to get off. We can either do it ourselves or help each other out," Ryan replied.

"Listen, man, I am not sure this is the kind of help I need. I think I will just go now," Jeremy responded, as he looked around nervously.

"Here, wait, jockboy ... we don't have to do that. Most of the time that's what happens when I bring a guy I here. I mean, really ... what else am I good for?"

Jeremy thought to himself, Wow, this guy is really screwed up. He thinks all the good he can do in life is to fuck someone else. What kind of life could this kid have had? Jeremy thought of his own home life for a moment. Maybe he had been really lucky. Then he quickly realized that life was now gone for him. He had totally fucked that up. He knew when his parents found out the truth of what he had done, he would be kicked out, he was sure of that. They, like Jess, would never understand, or forgive him for his sins.

Lost in his own thoughts, Jeremy momentarily stared off into space. He came back to earth when Ryan said, "Let me get something that will really help you." Ryan went into his closet and emerged seconds later with two red pills in his left hand.

"Here take these. They will help you relax and get over your problems. Trust me. They help me all the time," Ryan said, holding them out to Jeremy.

"I don't do drugs," Jeremy said, flatly refusing the offer.

"Jeremy ... God, man! These aren't street drugs. I get these from the doctor for anxiety problems. They are just like tension relievers. They will do wonders to help you relax, I promise." This time, Jeremy accepted the pills and rolled them around in the palm of his hand for a second. He wasn't sure if he should take the pills or not. Jeremy thought to himself, I'm not sure ... Do I trust this guy? He seems like he's okay. One thing's for sure ... I need to get some help getting over this. Nothing is going right ... Maybe if I release some tension it will help. What can two little red pills do to me? Ah, what the hell? I've been so tense with the problems with Jess and Chad and everything, I do need to relax. He continued to roll the pills in his palm. Finally, he threw them in his mouth and swallowed hard to get them down without water.

Ryan was again lying on his bed. He said, "Maybe you'd better sit down for a minute. Come over here ... Those can hit you kind of hard the first time you take them." Ryan patted the side of the bed next to him.

Jeremy stepped over the bed and sat down on the edge of it. Ryan was right. Suddenly, Jeremy felt his head begin to spin. For a second, he even felt like he was going to pass out. The room lights seemed to fade and then get brighter. He felt different ... odd, but in a way, almost immediately better. As the time went on, Jeremy began to feel all the weight that he had been carrying lift off his shoulders. In fact, he started to feel like he was on the top of the world. He was carefree ... it felt good. He felt good for the first time in a long time. Wow! Jeremy thought to himself, these things are great ... all this from two little pills. He was happy Ryan had given him this break from his pain.

Jeremy didn't know exactly what he was doing. It was like he was floating ... almost like he was in another world. He was now lying down on the bed, beginning to cuddle Ryan, stroking his body. Ryan wanted Jeremy to go farther, but he now knew he could, if he truly wanted to, get his hooks into the star quarterback. Ryan held him tight until the effects of the drug evened off. Jeremy soon drifted off to sleep in Ryan's arms. He slept well for the first time in many days or even weeks.

--Jess's Point of View--

As Daniel and I walked down the hall to our rooms for the week, we heard a door open. We looked up to see Chris and Chase coming out of the door of the room next to ours. They were arm in arm. I smiled, and so did Daniel. Our new friends were quickly becoming a couple, and a damned cute couple at that. They returned the smile, with each of them having a little bit of a red face. "So my friends, it looks like you two had some fun this afternoon," I said.

Both blushed even more. "Yeah, I guess we did," Chris said.

"Well, we've got to get downstairs so I can show Chris what he has to do before his shift starts," Chase said as they started to walk by.

Daniel grabbed Chase by the arm and led him off down the hall a little way. "So, how does it feel? I can tell by the way you're walking," Daniel observed.

Chase turned almost purple now. "Damned nice."

Daniel stepped closer to Chase, and gave him a gentle kiss on the cheek. He whispered in his ear, "You deserve to be happy, my friend. Chris seems like a damn good guy, so treat him good."

"I will. I can tell you he is very special to me already," Chase beamed back.

"Have you told him your secret yet?" Daniel asked.

Chase shook his head no. "I know I need to tell him. He needs to know. I just wanted to be happy for a little while. I know when I tell him, he will bolt," he replied, suddenly looking depressed.

"I think you're wrong. Chris is different. He is a couple of years older and has a good head on his shoulders. I think you need to trust him."

"I know you're right ... he is a good man."

"Tell him soon. I will be around if you need me," Daniel said.

Chase just nodded, motioning Chris to come with him. As they walked down the hall to the elevator, Chris asked Chase what that was all about. "Just an old friend, telling me I deserve to be happy, and to take care of my boyfriend, that he is a keeper."

"Awww ... that was nice of him. I really like those two. They are so gentle and caring," Chris said.

The two went down to the office and Chris started his new job.

After the new couple was gone down the hall, Daniel and I entered our room. I didn't know how Daniel was feeling, but I was beat from the day I had. All I wanted to do was finish the homework I had, get some food, and grab a shower. We both decided that food was the first order. We decided on pizza, which we had delivered from the local pizza place. Then it was on to the homework. It went fairly fast, to my surprise. I was glad to get that crap out of the way in a hurry. I finished before Daniel was done. So, next on the list was the shower ... a nice hot shower was just what I needed to relax.

I stripped my clothes off in the bedroom because there was more room. Once I got in the bathroom, I turned on both the heater and the shower to let them warm up. Steam began to fill the room. I stepped in and began to let the water caress my body. Before I knew it, Daniel pulled back the shower curtain and was standing there naked, ready to climb in with me. I extended my hand and helped him to step in. Daniel and I had become as close as anyone could without being a couple. He was just like my best friend. I knew he had Erik as a boyfriend, but I didn't care how close he and I were. There was nothing wrong in what we did ... we were just close.

We both stood there holding each other without saying a word. Finally, Daniel grabbed a wash cloth and began soaping my body as well as his own. We then took turns washing each other. When we were done, I still needed some more pressure relieved. I took my half hard cock into my hand and slowly began to stroke it. Daniel picked up on what I was doing and followed suit. Both our cocks were rock hard in seconds. It was quickly obvious this would not take long. It surprised me when Daniel reached across with his free hand, pushed my hand away, and began stroking my cock for me. It felt good, but it was more than we had done before. I didn't have a problem with it, though, so I didn't even try to stop him. In fact, my next action was to return the favor. As I thought, it took only a couple of minutes before both of our cocks were exploding all over each other's stomachs. When we had recovered from our orgasms, we washed the telltale evidence down the drain. As we stepped out of the shower, Daniel bent over and gave me a light kiss on the lips. We both towel dried and ran to bed to get in.

We took our usual positions in bed with me cuddling Daniel's back. We were soon asleep. The next morning came all too fast for both of us. We were up early and on the way to school.

The next thing Jeremy knew, Ryan was shaking his shoulder telling him it was time to get up for school, that they were going to be late.

Jeremy woke with a start, but it all quickly came back where he was. Ryan gave him a glass of orange juice and told him that would have to do for breakfast. Jeremy slammed the orange juice down, not knowing that Ryan had laced it with a lower dose of the same drug. It began to lift Jeremy up again. Before the pair left the bedroom, Ryan handed Jeremy a small bag of pills. He told Jeremy to take one about every eight hours. Jeremy didn't think twice about it this time. He grabbed the bag and stuffed it into his jeans pocket. The pair headed downstairs and out of the dingy old house to the car in the front yard. They were soon at school to start the new day.

To be continued...
